Hey guys.
No news on the sleep junk. Although I was at the doctor's building all morning long and it must be steel reinforced, because even with 3G coverage, I could not get a signal AT ALL. I don't know how I lived without a cell phone all those years.
The news about Lauren was worse than we could have imagined. Besides telling her she would probably have to have surgery, they also seemed to imply that her disease is not CP (which we have known) but that is a progression of her disease. And he expects more progression and for her to be able to do less. They are now set up to do heart studies, because he believes the disease she does have will cause her heart to deteriorate.
Lisa's stress level is above what anyone can be expected to handle at this point.
And William is no better. :sad2:
Please pray for all of us.

For all of you who are still playing along, here's your next clue. You get one, but it's a good one. I think you'll enjoy it, but I also think this one may be infinitely harder to guess.

OK, I"m a softy. That was pretty hard, so here's a bonus for you.

First...
Thank you all so much for your kind words and posts. You guys that have my phone number have even called - and I really, really appreciate it.
Today is a new day. The sun still rose. And it was beautiful this morning. :cloud9: One of those where the entire sky - all around - was orange, yellow, pink and purple. It was beautiful. :cloud9:
I have not talked to Lisa today, but I can tell you that last night things seemed to have sorta settled at their house. Lauren is really sick. She has now missed 3 days of school. Lauren normally pushes through school, even if she is sick. She has been known to call her Mom to go get an antibiotic for her and bring it to school so she does not have to miss class. But she just does not have the energy or the will this year - she is still running fever - so she is sick and resting today. This gave us the very rare opportunity to just sit in front of the TV and watch videos last night instead of doing homework (they don't have cable). It was nice to sorta "get away" after a pretty crappy week.
Lisa has given me permission to tell "the DIS people" about William. We are hoping to solicit some prayers from you guys. If you happen to live in MS and know us - please consider this confidential information. I really don't think any of you do...but just in case. ;)
William has been in the hospital. They have come to the conclusion that most of his stomach issues (and some new things - like transient blindness) are all being caused by stress. With the illness in his family, it is understandable for him to have some stress. But the doctors talked to him alone and said that they believe the stress is from school.
Turns out William got threatened on the bus. A serious threat - and we are not even sure everything that was said to him. Earlier in the week, Willam had told his Dad that the bus driver was playing the radio loudly on the bus and playing music with curse words. William's Dad called the bus company. The bus company told the bus driver no more radio (nevermind that it is not even safe!) The bus driver told the students on the bus. And the students on the bus found out it was William. :scared1: :scared1: :scared1:
So the kids all ganged up on William on the bus. No one was hurt and I don't think they actually laid a hand on William. But they were MAD. William's family lives out in the country where there is a large mix of kids. Kids that are well off and kids that are poor. Some kids are really bad (rich and poor, but you get the picture) (some were in alternative school last year - that type of thing). So all of this happened Friday after school - a week and a half ago. Between a sinus infection, a hospital stay and his doctors just saying that William can't go back until this blindness thing stops - William has not been back in school yet. So Lisa...is pulling out her hair! :scared1: :upsidedow Too much for a Momma!
William was at the doctor's appt yesterday, since he was not at school. So he was present for the doctor saying all of this to Lauren and her Mom. (Lauren's Dad had a trial.) William even asked the doctor if Lauren was going to die. :sad1: He freaked. Which was NOT what he needed.
We are not sure what to make of what the doctor said about Lauren. He didn't have a new diagnosis to offer. I am not surprised to know she is progressing. It is something I have known for a while. I can tell by looking at her - especially if you look at pictures from when I first met them. It is the reason she was granted a wish (most kids with CP don't qualify).
I guess it hit everyone really hard that Lauren may need to have rods put in her neck. This will really affect her whole life. Will she be able to bend over and write? Put on her makeup? What happens when they fix her neck - will the top of her head just do the same thing? Her hands are so crinkled now that we have a hard time stretching them. She can't write as much as she did last year. She gets worn out so easily. She obviously is getting sick more easily. So the questions that enter my mind are...what does her future look like? We have always envisioned her going to college or seminary - getting a job, maybe as a counselor or something she can do by herself with minimal assistance from others. Will she even live that long?
In the short term, we are looking into stretching out her last 2 years of school. Dropping some of her classes this year and adding on a year of high school. She just can't keep this pace. And she is not doing anything "extra"... And now that we don't know what the long term future is...it just seems cruel to have her whole life centered around school. Wake up. Get ready. Go to school. Get home. Do homework. Go to sleep. That is IT. No Facebook. No TV. She is not even getting a regular LIFE!
So...that is on the schedule for today. Check on Lauren's options for school.
Please keep praying for us. I am really doing fine, honestly. Except I am tired (chronically tired) and am hoping to get that fixed soon. But we really covet your prayers for Lauren and her family.
Thank you all! :grouphug:

Is it mandatory that Lauren go to school full time? Can she take a few classes a week.. maybe like a college schedule? It sounds like school 24/7 is taking a toll on her. From your previous posts it does seem like Lauren does like school and likes school activities. I really don't want to type this but I will.. If she does have only a short time on this Earth, maybe getting away or less of school will give her the energy to do other things that she loves.
I hope only the best for everyone and am still thinking and praying for you too.

Maroo-- My prayers are with all of you. My heart breaks for Lisa dealing with all this. As a teacher, I've got to tell you, buses are just awful places. So many terrible things happen on them and we have such little control! I will never let my kids ride the bus if I can help it.

My guess this time is a little more unsure. I thought of a couple of places that could have those things but I'm going to go with this one:

Y'all...I am just in tears. You guys are all so very kind.
Lisa has not wanted to tell many people around here about what is going on with William because of the stigma attached to how he is dealing with it all.
So we just have not had the prayer support.
Till today.
William went to school!!!! Just for a few hours. But he actually wanted to go...and he made it for several hours. This is a HUGE step!
He will never ride the bus again...

Thank you. I told Lisa about your post...and she really appreciates your prayers. She doesn't feel like she is handling this well, but to hear from a Mom with a special needs child and for you to say that...really gave her some needed encouragement today.
Oh!! I know what those are!! they are one of my bestest foods!! but I can't tell...DOH! :headache:

To be fair...the school does not really know the whole story yet...There is a bus strike and a lot going on with the buses. Since William has not really told anyone what really happened...they are waiting...
Once he talks...they will all write letters, including his counselor and his physician...and I believe the problem will be addressed. William's Dad. He is connected. ;)
It WILL be addressed.
I totally agree. There should be ZERO tolerance for any of this nonsense.

I put a call in to the resource teacher at her school today and she didn't call me back. Lisa is going to call her tomorrow and tell her to call me. I am sure that makes no sense to the teacher....why she would talk to me and not Lisa...but I will explain the full situation to her and hopefully she will let me sorta do some research for Lisa about what Lauren's options are.
My fear is that the school is required to provide assistance to full time students, but not to part time students. But I don't know that for certain.
I know it is that way with college. She will HAVE to take 12 hours in order to receive any benefits. But we can deal with that by having her take 2 hard classes and 2 easy classes each semester and just stretch it out.
Right now her HS has her taking 6 classes and they are all quite hard.
But hopefully I will know more tomorrow. Lauren is now asking if she can stretch it out...so we will try to do this for her. Frankly...if she fails a class...she will have to stay an extra year. :rolleyes1
Maroo-- My prayers are with all of you. My heart breaks for Lisa dealing with all this. As a teacher, I've got to tell you, buses are just awful places. So many terrible things happen on them and we have such little control! I will never let my kids ride the bus if I can help it.
Yeah...What happened on my buses even years and years ago was crazy. I can not even imagine how it is now.
William will probably never ride a bus again.
Lisa has an online course that "meets" at the same time she would pick him up from school. So his grandfather is going to pick him up. Which will be great for both of them. A win, win situation.

In the grand scheme of things, a young person graduatation late, is really not a big deal. My own son will be a 19 1/2 year graduate simply because our life circumstances messed him up. I put him national school for a year and although her learned great Blankastani, he basically lost the entire year academically. You know what? It is so not a big deal. And even in many ways he will be more ready and mature for what university has in store. Also, he did his entire 10th grade year at a community college, and got duel credits for it. It counted towards both HS AND college. He will actually start university with 26 transfer credits.
If Lauren stretches her last couple of years out, she will really be no worse off, and can still get into university. If she goes the Com. Coll. route the actually schedule will be more flexible and lighter, and the campus tutoring centers are free and CAN help her. Just my 2 cents. ;)
On a lighter note. It's looking like you guys are needing more time on this one. I admit it's a harder one, but I'm still going to give you the answer tomorrow, so make your guesses....

We actually were suggesting she stretch it out earlier this year. But she would have nothing of it. She wanted to graduate with the rest of her class.
So far the teacher we are trying to get in touch with has not called us back yet.
And the bus driver...really even more the offending students...will eventually have their day of reckoning.
She will probably do Community College that first year and then possibley move over to MS State. Depends on housing. They have special disability housing to a very few students and when one of those apartments come open, she will probably jump on it.
This is good! Try to remember that when all else fails. Breathe in the pretty colors, breathe out the bad.

Turns out their county buses settled their part of the strike. Now the other county is on strike. Between the stupid flu (my new name for the swine flu) and the bus strike, they say attendance is down a BUNCH at many of the schools.
But we will get that addressed...as soon as they can get William to tell an adult what even happened.
I am holding on for her resource teacher to call me back...I figure pulling her from her honors classes is an option. It is just so late in the school year. She has already had one 9 weeks. It is possible...if we can get her through this semester...that we could just move classes around for next semester, when her schedule has to change anyway.
Her very hardest class is over this semester anyway.
The registrar can also "hand pick" her teachers. They have been handpicking the "college prep" teachers. (This is all hush hush, by the way - the "computer" of course picks these classes....it is just a coincidence that all of the college prep, National Merit probable kids get the advanced teachers.... yeah....right. :rolleyes1) So...for next semester, they could choose different teachers, too...when they swap her schedule. Unfortunately, all of her friends are in the college prep classes. The school is huge and she would just not see her friends if she was on the other "track"...I am sure this all makes no sense.
I can remember taking several very hard classes that I did not want to take, just to make sure that my "track" stayed with my friends. I knew if I took Cal II, I would end up in the one class with all of my friends - since it was only offered one period per day - and that helped us get all of our other classes together, too.
And then there is the thought to extend an extra year. But I don't even know if that is possible?
I am already listed on Lauren's records with the "right" to pick her up from school, check her out of school, come take care of any medical need at school and I am listed on her IEP - and I come to all of the IEP meetings (that normally it is just the parents) - so I think that they would talk to me.
Thank goodness, her dad is "in the know"! I'm sure it will be "addressed"!
You are very welcome, for sure. That's what community is for!
Yes - they definitely try to be careful.
Richard accidently wrote an email to the principal of William's school last year (for a completely different issue) from his WORK email. It really was an accident. He just had his work email pulled up and typed a quick note to her. It really was not even a big deal...just an update on something they had already discussed.
The very next day no less than 3 high level people called Lisa. Lisa could not figure out why everyone was making such a big deal about a little issue. Especially when she could not get anyone to even address it the week before.
I said - maybe they know where he works... And she just gasped! Oh no!!! He wrote that email from his work address. :rotfl2: Whoops. :scared1:
Maroo - I so thought I posted! I hope you know I have been thinking about everyone and praying for you. When I read you post, I was ready to hop a flight to MS and kick some butt.
It is all good!
I have done that before...I think that the DIS even loses a few posts every now and then. Or maybe I shut down before it actually "posts"...sometimes it takes a minute to stop "thinking" and post.
There are several threads that I knew I updated or knew I posted and it evaporated into thin air!

First off, you were righty-o on your guess!! Congrats!
Also, thank you for that link. However, I'm not sure I'm altogether happy with this AT ALL. I can totally see where this is leading- tips at the CS places; the first step toward what they are doing at The Pepper Market. It will be very interesting to see where this all goes, and how it pans out in the end.
I see your point. And in theory I agree. But it seems like if there is truly a squatter then there could be ONE CM who patrols for that sort of thing, or is available to ask. At the same time, though, I'm leery of adding a hostess at CS places- it may be that we will be tipping another $5 per meal for someone to bring you to your seat and get you a drink.
Whether helpful or not, having a PTR going makes the time pass infinitely more quickly, and yes, I do think a lot of info on them is very helpful. I certailnly wouldnt' be going to O'hana or Flame Tree if it weren't for PTRs/TRs!! And I would def. NOT have tried Hoop last time- which was a major highlight for us.
Ok, I might be in the minority but as a group of 6 that has a hard time getting a table at those places, I like it. And I do see a lot of squatters...
Yeah, I actually think I like it too. Unless they do what All7ofUs fears and start adding gratuities in - that I WON'T like!
Please pray for all of us.
So sorry for all that Lauren's family is going through. You and they are all in my prayers!

Yeah...I could probably post this in about 4 places...and maybe I would solicit more prayers for them...but I am just trying to be a bit cautious with who gets the information. I know anyone could see it...but it seems like most of the people posting on this particular thread are my close friends - so it seemed like the best place to put it.
I don't want to bother the wish tripper thread...they have enough going on without having to worry about one more family.
And there is no chance I will risk being flamed on any other thread on this board. :headache:

Lauren's schedule is completely on hold. They have to know how many days a week she will have PT and what classes she will miss in order to do PT. Plus they need to know when she will have surgery and how long she will be out. Which we don't know yet.
But at the least we can switch her schedule at the semester and spread some of her classes out...let her take basketweaving or something easy for a class or two. She certainly has enough free credits since she has stacked the last year full of classes.

Mar, I don't want to be doing too much surmising and second guessing, but how much do you think stress is affecting all of this?? You are under an enormous load of it right now, and I can't help but to think that William isn't the only one that's feeling the brunt of the whole situation. Of course there's prob a medical cause that's underlying all of it, but stress can certainly make it a lot worse!!!

Allright, now that SOMEONE's guess is in (;)) I can post where you were ummm... mislead. Only 1 person got it right, but I forgot to check who it was before I pushed reply. I'll edit to add in a minute. Edited to add: Shannn- you were the Grand Poobah on this one!! Great JOB!!!
This one, I admit, was too hard.
First off, Tim, you were right! It was middle Eastern bread. Pita to be exact. I feel badly for leading you astray with the "twisting comment" . I totally wasn't meant to be a clue. Sorry!!! I'll try harder next time.
Pitas are easy to make, but I learned the "semi-unsuccessful way" that you have to have a really hot oven. Mine does not cut the mustard here. Can someone please tell me where that saying came from?? :confused3 Cut the mustard?? I don't get it. Moving on...
Secondly, admittedly, there are several places that serve Middle Eastern type breads, so that was game master's second faux pas. Guessing Bomas was a good try!
Someone also went for Cantina thinking they were tortillas, but tortillas are practically see-through when you make them. So that was a no-go, but I did think someone would try it.
Okay. The grease balls. I know what you're saying to yourselves. Who'd want to eat grease balls? I know, the longer I look at the picture I posted, the more disgusting they look. :sad2: Really, they aren't THAT permeated with artery clogging goodness. But, what's our mantra here, folks?? "God put fat in food to make it taste good." Yes, indeedy do; I really believe that (I've got the flab to show it). To be fair, like most DISers, I forgot to take the picture of food art until the last ones, so my paper towels were pretty well grunged up when I took it.
Now, what if I had posted this:
http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll305/All7OfUs/FalafelMeal.jpg
Would this have made it too easy?? Bekka just said I should have thrown in a clue something along the lines of: Wouldn't those just make you "feel awful"? :lmao: Ah, she's clever one.
I know they have boxed mixes of this stuff, but homemade is soooooo good.
Here's how:
Take about 3 cans of garbanzos, the juice of a lemon, a big handful of flour, salt, pepper, 3 cloved garlic, a bunch of parsley, some ginger, cayenne, cumin, coriander, and pepper, and throw it all in the blender. Stop whirring just short of toothpaste; there should be a few chunkies in it. Roll into balls, slightly flatter and fry in hot oil. Serve with yogurt raita, tahini, whatever else floats your boat. Yum!
So the correct answer is Tangierine Cafe in Morocco. Here's a really cool piece of trivia for the Morocco Pavillion. Did you know that Morocco was the very first country (after France, of course) to recognize the States after the war of Independence?? Swear it's true! There is an authentic copy of a letter that the King (at that time, duh) sent to George Washington hanging in the entryway in the Marakesh Restaurant!!! Is that not the coolest thing?? Revolutionary I might even say!

Do you still have your WII Fit? Try doing some of the yoga. I sleep better on the nights that I do the yoga and strength training.
I really thought a lot about Lauren last night about her life being school and that's it, because of the energy it takes her now to do things. She's a teenager and not getting to be one. I do hope you all can get her to realize that while school is incredibly important (and I am very proud of any student who realizes that), her health is also incredibly important. You guys want to join my protest??
Did you guys know that the price of the CD went up to $149?
It is only $99 pre-paid for families staying onsite. But they consider Give Kids the World to be "offsite" and are making them pay the full price.
This even applies to our wish families (from many organizations, including Make a Wish) that stay at Give Kids the World.
I have sent emails, made some phone calls and the "final" answer from Disney PhotoPass is that families staying at Give Kids the World have to pay the full price for PhotoPass CD's.
These families have magical moments on their trips that are only captured on PhotoPass. These are treasured by many of these families.
So - I am officially protesting the decision by Disney PhotoPass to continue to charge these families $149 for the CD of their pictures.
I am confident that Disney will change their policy - and when they do, I will do a THANK YOU campaign, too! :thumbsup2
I am protesting in 2 ways:
TWITTER:
I am sending out the following message on Twitter and asking all of my Twitter friends to RETWEET it so as many people as possible can be aware of the issue!
This is what I am tweeting:
FW this tweet if you agree that Give Kids the World Wish Families should get a big discount on Disney PhotoPass! :)
LETTERS:
I am also asking everyone I know to send letters directly to Disney PhotoPass asking them to offer a deep discount to the families staying at Give Kids the World! The letter can be very simple. Maybe your kids even want to draw a picture and just write a short sentence on the bottom of it? We just want a bunch of letters to go out about this.
Here is the address:
Disney Photo Imaging
PO Box 10000
Lake Buena Vista, FL 32830
Thank you so much for your help! Feel free to forward this information!

Lauren is SICK. I know I said she was sick this week...and she was. Went back to school Thursday. But now I am home with her (my day off - woo hoo!) and she is SICK. "I think I am going to die" sick.
We have called the doctor. Lauren is afraid it is the "real" swine flu. Maybe she didn't have it before and she has it now.
Here is the rub. Tonight is HOMECOMING. She has a dress. And a date.
Please pray that she can feel better long enough to go to the dance.

I know that most of these families have been through hell and any have to pay for so much OOP... doctors, meds, transportation, etc. Instead of using their money to pay for the PP they could put it towards a character meal or souvenirs or whatever. Some of these wish trips are the child's only chance to ever go to WDW. Heck Disney should give it to them for free.

Lauren is OFF to Homecoming!
And can I just add that she - went - alone - with a BOY! I know that most 16 year olds have already done that. But it was huge step for her parents to just give that young man the keys to her handicapped van and let him drive off with Lauren. A huge thing.
I am sure her parents are not sleeping either. They will call me when she gets home.
I used alternating Ibuprofen and Tylenol all day long to keep her fever at bay. I am sure in the grand scheme of things it was not a good idea to let her go tonight. But life is just too short. She can sleep tomorrow. :)

In the last couple of weeks, more information has come to light, and the timing of things is certainly working out to my advantage!!! YOU WON'T WANT TO MISS IT!

Maroo,
I hope Lauren had a great time last night at the dance!!!!!
I know the wish trip thread is over there on the community board, which I am subscribed to, but I really can't stand that board. I rarely ever go on it. I can't understand how your post got turned into a PP share debate. :confused3 I also don't understand how it got turned into a free debate? I think some of these people are very bitter and really don't get it. These Wish families are a unique situation and while I understand that Disney does do a lot for them, charging them more for photopass isn't right. It can only imagine how much it costs Disney make and send a PP CD- $3-$5??? Asking people to write Disney for the same opportunity to have the GKTW families PURCHASE the CD was a good idea. I guess next time stay away from the community board, people love starting a debate over there.
Leisa,
Here is the link http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2314865 I wouldn't even waste you time posting. The thread has taken on a different direction now and if I had to respond I wouldn't be happy with myself later. So hopefully the thread will die soon. :rolleyes1
I will vote in your poll later:surfweb:... are you sure there is only one place on property where you can find this? Are we still on TS meals or can it be CS too????

It got pretty ugly over there, that's for sure! Yikes!
I just have no clue about PP or how it works or whether there is really an advantage of having one or not?? (the CD) so I'm just really not qualified to enter into this discussion. :confused3
I"m dying to see Lauren's pictures from Homecoming! Do you have any you could post? Did she have fun?? Did it make her sicker by going?? Do tell!
Tim--
Just go with the obvious one here. CS and TS are being mixed up now, but I think you can get this. There's the "quick" answer.

The PhotoPass folks were sending form responses.
Except when I started a TWEET on Twitter... then they started calling me back. :thumbsup2
And now each wish family - including you guys - by the way - will be getting a CD for free. Don't tell that other thread. They will FREAK and who knows what they would say to that. But Disney gets it.
They are going to send me some codes to give to you guys that will be going soon. I know you are staying onsite and I won't be able to continue doing that for every onsite family - but you guys will get one. His condition is life threatening - they just have not been able to prove it. Well...whatever. You guys will be taken care of.
Thanks for your prayers for Lauren!!! :)
First of all
:dancer: for Lauren going to homecoming! Yes, life is too short and I'm so glad she made it! Pictures please, she is so very lovely.
Second
:worship: for putting up with that thread... I tried to find it too and couldn't, and that's probably a good thing.
:rotfl2::rotfl2:
for the results already! You are amazing and a gift.
Hi All,
And speaking of beef...
Here you all go------> Rations Drop #8! Can you believe it?? Half way done!
After last week, it's obvious we need a super easy, free point for all who make a guess. Seriously, if you get this one wrong, you aren't trying too hard. It's a give-me!
Here's your one and only clue. Since I can only be on for this very few minutes today. I'll post the answer Monday AM, and also give you the clues for the next one, which will be medium-hard. So take advantage of this one.

Maroo :grouphug: Good Grief that thread went so MEAN - I wont even tell you HOW MEAN!! I was open jawed in disbelief - and I kept trying to think of responses - but I just couldnt :sad1: It made me so sad!!
and God Bless Lauren - thank you for letting us be a part of her prayer team! :goodvibes:goodvibes Cant wait to hear about Homecoming!!
it all brings up some memories -
Who knew Twitter was so effective!
I'm glad the PP people were able to step up - I thought it was just so out of character NOT to give the WISH families and GKTW something so simple - Disney does give so much -
So glad you were effective Maroo - it has to help bolster your spirits a bit! :wizard:
ITA - LIfe is short - I keep that in mind too - I guess I'd better text dh and tell him I forgive him!! ;)

Hi guys. Thanks for all of your comments about that thread. But it has gotten enough attention...so off to much better things!
Pictures will be forthcoming from Homecoming - but I heard from the grapevine that she was "disappointed"... I guess we all have these plans in our head that just don't quite work out that way.
But she had her first date. And her parents survived! :rotfl: Her Mom could not believe she let him drive her away. She said it was all my fault! :rotfl2:
But...for the BIG news............
These three words....
Just may....
Help the three of us on this trip............
It covers our dates...... (and almost every other date in 2010!)
I booked 2 trips today........should it be three?? Liesa...Liesa...where are you?? :rolleyes1

AACK! I want a PIN! What is the PIN? You're killing me! We won't hear from Liesa until tomorrow night....Sunday computer hiatus and all. I can't wait that long.
I've only gotten a PIN once and couldn't use it. WAH!
Hey I do have a PIN question. Say I get a PIN but right now our rooms are in 1) our name and room #2 is in Sandie's name. How can I make a PIN work on both rooms? They are linked as a GG but we couldn't do it as one reservation. Can I?

I am not sure if the GG are different. But in the past I have been able to book 2 rooms under one PIN. As long as the person that was sent the PIN is in one of the rooms.
And...don't worry.... Liesa and I have already discussed the PIN. :rolleyes1 I actually caught her earlier. He he!

I jumped on here because I couldn't take the drama of the Yankee game. They won BTW I wanted to get my vote in before the voting closed. Your picture looks like the Cantina Burrito from Cantina de San Angel.
They probably serve this food in more than 1 place on property but that is my answer and I'm sticking to it! ;)

Fellow Soldiers, we are gathered here tod..... oh wait, wrong page;
Fellow Soldiers, it has come to our attention that our fellow compatriot, maroo, has a secret weapon up her sleeve that will bring amazing results in the TC3 Quest for Freedom!!! Replete with coded information, ready and armed, she unveiled this most wondrous, most discombobulating, most worthy and capable instument of vacation warfare- the all-encompassing....
PIN CODE!!!! :banana::cheer2::yay::woohoo::banana:
But, you already knew that, didn't you Fellow Soldiers?! You also already knew that when you signed up for this PTR, NOTHING would stay the same, didn't you?? When maroo is on your side, who can stand against you? And who can rest in the knowledge that their vacation plans were tidily sewed up and socked away, just needing a cute little ticker (which was very difficult to make, might I add maroo!) to ticky-tock away the days and months. HA! NEVER!
So, maroo calls using the wireless communicator to make the all-important field call to Soldier #1 (me) on Saturday night, all in a dither, (Well, it wasn't quite that dramatic, but I do love that word) and tells me she has a PIN. I already knew, without her having to say it, that she was wondering if we should go changing our battle tactics to staying at the POLY (which is like officer's base housing vs. enlisted digs) for part of our stay. I think all the "better" outweighs the "good" of the hot tub in this case. Who can resist soft Tahitian drumming on the pathways, the view of MK from the beach, hammocks, soft sand, and Lapus right around the corner? WHO, I ASK YOU!!?
So, the new battleplan is this: (Remember, in my very first post, I told you we'd take you into our confidence, as you deemed yourselves worthy- consider yourselves highly capable and worthy compatriots!)
POR- Sat., Sept. 4th- Wed. Sept. 8th
Move to POLY Thurs., Sept., 9th- Sun., Sept. 12
NOW, here's what I originally thought I'd be posting today: Remember, last Friday, before my "weekend hiatus" (good one, Cynthia! :rotfl2:) I told you there'd be a big update, and change of plans?? Well, honestly NEVER, EVER, EVER in my wildest dreams did I EVER think I'd be able to stay at the POLY, EVER. I just figured I'd have to wait until Heaven to get something that wonderful. Here's what I thought I'd be telling you right now:
It turns out that the conference in Thailand doesn't start until the 18th. That's Saturday- a whole week after I'd originally planned on leaving (well almost, anyway). Basically, I have no-where to go in FL, and I'm certainly NOT going to go to meet up with my family and be alone in Bangkok for 5 days. Hmmm.... what to do, what to do?? :rolleyes1:confused3 Oh, wait, let me see, I'm at WDW. IT suddently comes to me. (Yeah, that took about 3 nano-seconds) I could check into POP for 3 nights and do a little solo time.
But, can I just bare my soul for a just a little?? Indulge me. Having 3 days all to myself brings a multitude of conflicting and weird feelings. I am an extrovert- to the max. I love people. I love being WITH people! Disney, just feels right with people. But is it only this that makes me want a touring partner?? I think not. If I were really honest with myself, I'd have to confess that being alone kind of scares me. Will I really have fun? Will I feel weird eating all alone? Can I stand it riding BTMRR all alone and not have someone to turn to and scream, "That was totally wicked!" I just don't know.
I am so torn!! Part of me says, "Do this, it will help you grow as a person", other part says, "Find someone to go with you". First off, it will help with the costs! And that's no small potatoes. But who? I did actually ask a couple of you- you know who you are... :goodvibes So, here's what I'm thinking... if those ladies can make it, I will be so thrilled. We can hang out, do a very relaxed pace of hanging out, (Cynthia, you know that drink card you made?? We could knock off a few more from it) see whatever I didn't from the first days, etc... But if they can't make it, then I will have to make peace with that part of me that has been lost over the years of being mom and wife.
Well, there you go. The new, improved ultra-plussed, super-sized battle plan. The only thing that could get any better is Free Dining AND the 40%. Do I need to remind you that this is still a PTR with maroo involved, don't be surprised.... ;)

solo is bliss to an extrovert. take it from one who lives for others.
it takes a full day to transition from having so much fun with friends and family to fully enjoying the solo time. However, once you are in the solo zone, you experience WDW in a completely different way. For instance, at Pop early in the morning or late in the evening, a walk along Hourglass Lake takes on new meaning by yourself. Thankfulness is a word that immediately comes to mind. Thankfulness for all that I have. Thankfulness for all that our Father has allowed us to enjoy.
Theme park touring is not so frenzied. You only have yourself to please. You find yourself sitting on benches and just enjoying the view and people watching. Fun places to find solace--Behind Club Cool and the Character Connection at Epcot there is an indoor hallway, there are only a few benches but its a great place to sit when it's hot and it's usually very quiet.
There is a TR by MARYPPNS that is all about her solo stay at WDW. She just finished day 1 with 4 more to go. You might want to check it out.

Thanks for the encouragement, Jordy!! Really, I think the Father can and will use this trip to do some growing in me. Yes, I really believe that He can use delightful circumstances to do a work in a heart.
I'm actually following Heidi's report, and Crissy's too. They really do sound like they're having a ton of quiet "fun", and have perfected the art of solo touring.
Anyhow, I knew I could count on you to give me some much needed perspective on this new groove.

With every job that must be done, there is an element of fun. Mary Poppins
Okay, so we get to luxuriate ourselves in a little slice of heaven on earth; all in a good day's Quest for Freedom. Unfortunately, this diversion will also cost us. Hence, this next update...
By changing our POR ressie WITH Free Dining to only 5 nights, we will go from having 9 credits of gastronomic delight to only 5!! This is severely limiting, I must say. There are actually 9 places I really wanted to try, and 2 are 2 TS credit places. This is now going to mean we'll be having to pay OOP for some and simply skipping several others.
Now because this has become so incredibly confusing, I'm going to put long pause into our game of Rations Drop for awhile until we make some final decisions on some things. So, I'll just tell you now, EVERYONE scored in the last round with guessing the Cantina. Yum!! I love me some combo plate- I've eaten here every trip, and have never been disappointed yet.
So, without further anticipation, maroo and I talked at length this AM and decided that here's how we'll be spending those 5 precious TS credits and which ones we'll go with paying OOP.
Hoop do Doo (2)
'Ohana (1)
Teppan (1)
Boma (1)
OOP will be Sanaa, Cali Grill, and maybe Biergarten.
We had to drop Crystal cuz although it sounds wonderful, we just couldn't fit it in, and since one morning we'll be doing an AM EMH, we'll be getting to the park plenty early anyway. For me, it was all about getting in early, not the breakfast or the characters.
For my 5 CS credits, I'm going with: Wolfgang Puck Express or Earl's (both sound great), Pecos, Morocco, Mexico, and Col. H. House.
OOP CS will probably end up being: Casey's (once or twice)? and maybe a POR counter service breakfast??
Snacks: Goofy's Choco Rice Krispy, Minnie's Str. Bar, Dole Whip Float, Frozen Banana, and either Creme Brulee at Sunshine Seasons or Crepes from France?
So, although the Poly is wonderful, we do lose a fair amount of flexibility on the dining end of things. Luckily, all of us are on the whole quite light eaters and can do a lot of splitting (Cali Gr., Sanaa no problem!) Even if we split Teppan, we could do one more place and split, but I'll have to think on that.
However, the biggest thing we've lost, which may actually cause stress induced trauma to maroo is the lack of hot tub!! :scared1: I know!! Scary!
So, we'll have to make sure there's plenty of time to hot tub time at POR before the move. :woohoo: Now, we'll just make sure that the water stays IN the hot tub, right, maroo?!:rolleyes1
shannn
10-26-2009, 06:27 AM
OH, you know I'll cheer at the thought of the Poly!! :cheer2: That is fabulous news.
I wish your trip was in the summer. I'd jump right in and offer to join your solo time. Unfortunately, I think my principal would have something to say! :rotfl:
that's nice
10-26-2009, 08:18 AM
WOWZERS!!!
There is so much to comment on! First off the POLY!!!!!! I'm jealous!!!! Although you do lose the FD, with splitting meals and not eating everything that comes with these meals (like dessert) you will still end up making out I think. Who needs chocolate cake with every lunch?
I still CANNOT believe that POLY doesn't have a hot tub! Can you use GFs or CRs hot tub? Who knows maybe it will be a million degrees and a hot tub might be the last thing on your mind.
I'm sad that you have revealed the rest of your ADRs. The game was really fun! Your ADRs do look really good though!
Finally 3 more days?:woohoo::woohoo: This seems like my upcoming trip... one day added here another there... you might end up staying for 2 weeks!!!! As much as I would love to give you company, once again, I don't think it would go over too well with the DW. LOLOL I think you will have a great time by yourself!!! No one to please, make some new friends, tour at your own pace... sounds good to me!!!!:goodvibes:goodvibes

Talk about Ying and Yang!
Staying part-time at the deluxe Poly is awesome, but it does come with a price... reduced dining credits. Hmmm. I honestly can't say which I would choose...
Sounds like you're working it out to the satisfaction of all parties, though.
Congratulations on your good fortune!

I really think you will enjoy your 3 solo days. And coming at the end of your stay with friends will be perfect for you since you have a bit of fear about it. Believe me when I tell you no one even notices that you are alone. I have always had no problem eating alone...and Disney was no exception...I think I even felt more comfortable!
My only suggestion would be for you NOT to plan out your 3 solo days ahead of time. What? :scared1: No plans? Yes no plans ahead of time.....don't hold yourself down with plans months and weeks ahead of time. It's really freeing! Just ask yourself "what would make me happy today" and go for it! Your answers might surprise yourself.

HA! NEVER!
Who? Me? A PIN??
By the way, folks. This was no "ordinary" PIN. I have received several PINs - mostly for a block of dates and something everyone was offered - and this will probably be released to everyone at some point. But this PIN - is special.
It covers the WHOLE YEAR.
So I have booked WL for a long weekend in December. This was 40% off! :woohoo: It is probably the weekend that they will have more meets (like they are this year). I will only have to take a half day off work, which is quite nice!
And of course booked this few days at the POLY in September! :yay:
Now...as for the ticker - none of our tickers work anyway...so you have a reprieve before you have to "fix" yours...And I would not work too hard on it.
But, you already knew that, didn't you Fellow Soldiers?! You also already knew that when you signed up for this PTR, NOTHING would stay the same, didn't you?? So, we'll have to make sure there's plenty of time to hot tub time at POR before the move. :woohoo: Now, we'll just make sure that the water stays IN the hot tub, right, maroo?!:rolleyes1
:scared1: I had forgotten about that!
I guess they are scared of me!
You know...the hot tubs at Disney are not that hot anyway. Maybe just layign out by the pool - since it will be so warm anyway - and their water is heated in the pools - will be perfect! :thumbsup2
Oh, wait, let me see, I'm at WDW.
I totally understand where you are coming from. Remember last Feb when I went with Sarah and her sister? How freaked out I was going alone?
I LOVED it! In fact...I wish I had some alone time this December. :rolleyes1 It is going to be a little strange going with 6 other people and not having a little solo time.
I walked around with the biggest GRIN on my face! The whole time. I LOVE Disney.
I enjoyed:
* riding EE as many times I wanted!
* sitting on the ground in the HUB of the Magic Kingdom after the fireworks were over. :cloud9: It is pretty with no one around. ::yes::
* going to my room when I wanted to. If I was tired - go back. If I was up early - go for a walk.
* Eating at Biergarten. I ended up at a table full of very nice people. It was fun to be able to eat and not really be alone. Aside from that small group at the table, no one else knew I was eating alone. :confused3
* It was just nice to be able to go where I wanted to, when I wanted to.
* And I would TOTALLY go to MNSSHP - again. :thumbsup2
One tip I would give you - Write down a "bucket" list - start it today and just keep a running list - of everything you wish you could do in Disney. Things your family may not enjoy as much as you do. Want to meet a specific character? Go take pictures at a certain resort? Ride horses at FW? You could take pictures of Hidden Mickey's to send to Steve for his website - that would be cool! Just start a list...so that if you get bored, you can pull it out and have something to go do.
After 9 days in the World - you may just want to really rest one day. Really rest. Take a book. Sit in the WS and just read. :cloud9:
solo is bliss to an extrovert. take it from one who lives for others.
it takes a full day to transition from having so much fun with friends and family to fully enjoying the solo time.
Yes! What he said! :thumbsup2

I am PUMPED about Hoop De Doo! I really think it will be lots of fun with this group of ladies!
Ohana, Teppan, and Boma...:cloud9:
But I am sad that we are losing Crystal Palace. I will have to meet Pooh in a character line. :thumbsup2
Cali Grill and Sanaa will be fine OOP - I joked with Liesa that I can eat at Casey's and then go to Cali Grill and just have some of those flat breads and a dessert! Yum!
Finally 3 more days?:woohoo:This seems like my upcoming trip... one day added here another there... you might end up staying for 2 weeks!!!! As much as I would love to give you company, once again, I don't think it would go over too well with the DW. LOLOL I think you will have a great time by yourself!!! No one to please, make some new friends, tour at your own pace... sounds good to me!!!!:goodvibes
:rotfl:
I am interested to see who comes to hang with her? popcorn::
Talk about Ying and Yang!
Staying part-time at the deluxe Poly is awesome, but it does come with a price... reduced dining credits. Hmmm. I honestly can't say which I would choose...
Sounds like you're working it out to the satisfaction of all parties, though.
Congratulations on your good fortune!
Kathy
:scared1: Really? Would you take FD over the Poly? Hmm.... This requires some consideration on my part. :surfweb:

Oh I know that part, that lost part....finding it is a bit scary and intimidating.
I have thought of a solo trip myself and haven't had the nerve either. Any solo travel I've done has been for work and it's just not the same.
Extrovertitis I think.
Relaxed and just hanging out....no agenda...does sound
:goodvibes
And just so we are clear, I will NOT be checking off every box on that drink card. :rotfl: even if I somehow manage to get to the world more than once next year :rolleyes1
I will however have fun deciding which boxes to color in....
I am thinking though that you now need at least 2 more dividers!
The poly! So well deserved, I'm thrilled for you guys!!!!!!!!! Sad about the hot tub though, that's just plain odd if you ask me but hey, you will have a volcano in your pool!
solo is bliss to an extrovert. take it from one who lives for others.

What a lovely post and so true.

Snacks: Goofy's Choco Rice Krispy, Minnie's Str. Bar, Dole Whip Float, Frozen Banana, and either Creme Brulee at Sunshine Seasons or Crepes from France?
With as light as eaters as you say you are, this probably works out perfectly! I love your TS choices. Can you all do CP instead of Biergarten? You both seem rather sad about that one....
Very good advice! Plan not to plan!
Who? Me? A PIN??
By the way, folks. This was no "ordinary" PIN. I have received several PINs - mostly for a block of dates and something everyone was offered - and this will probably be released to everyone at some point. But this PIN - is special.
It covers the WHOLE YEAR.

You could be right about it being HOT, maybe pool time is all we'll need; and we've all seen the pool of volcanic coolness!! Can't wait!
Don't worry, remember... I have 3 days of solo AND I didn't share where we'd be eating at during any of the days we aren't on FD. So, when things settle down a teensy, I'll start back up. Tom. AM, I'll post the scores as they stand. Honestly, you're not that far behind.

That's what it is!! The perfect combo of great and even greater! Hey, you're down to mere hours!!!! Have a great time!!!
this is cool. for me it means figuring out how I am going to stay out of Mom's way until she gets her own schedule worked out. otherwise I'll be the one doing the dirty work.
See, your younger sis gets stuck with packing for the trip to Thailand! You're off the hook this time!
I really think you will enjoy your 3 solo days. And coming at the end of your stay with friends will be perfect for you since you have a bit of fear about it. Yes, I agree; time to really slow down and do things which totally are off the cuff. This is really starting to grow on me! Not that I wouldn't mind any company either at times.
I will definitely plan NOT to plan. maroo says that some changes are coming for POP and FD. You only get CS credits next year?? :confused3 Last night I was thinking again about where I'd go, and I actually came up with 2 places I wanted to get to (TS), then she landed that bomb on me. Ah well. OOP it will be I guess... But when it came to park time, I just couldn't even begin to guess where I'd want to go back to and spend my last bit of time?? So that's exactly what I did!! I left the whole thing blank, and told myself, "Self, go where you want to that morning!" Self was happy!
Who? Me? A PIN??
By the way, folks. This was no "ordinary" PIN. I have received several PINs - mostly for a block of dates and something everyone was offered - and this will probably be released to everyone at some point. But this PIN - is special.

Only you...
So I have booked WL for a long weekend in December. This was 40% off! :woohoo: It is probably the weekend that they will have more meets (like they are this year). I will only have to take a half day off work, which is quite nice!
That is quite nice!! I can see all kinds of 3 dayers in your future!
And of course booked this few days at the POLY in September!
Now...as for the ticker - none of our tickers work anyway...so you have a reprieve before you have to "fix" yours...And I would not work too hard on it.
We won't! ;) It seems to be working again...
You never know when this will all change again? (Although, didn't we say that this was the ultimate? Aside me really wanting DVC?) So we are there...and before the deals get released to the public. We can plan. Get our ADR's set. Good stuff, good stuff!
HA!! I can only imagine! I love the good stuff!
In a dither?? :

I believe her "water" pipes also carry the "heat" to her house. They have these pipes around the house, I believe, that warms up the house. So...water issues and heat issues. :sad2:

Hey, you're on!! Yes, the stupid water pipes!! I hate them!! I really want to do replies and chat some, but it just isn't going to happen. I need a hot bath, and some praying time. Have a wonderful day! I'll try to chat tom. around 9:00 my time (8:00 yours) PM.
And now look, my ticker isn't on again. Time to find another solution... Hmmm.... ?
Our tickers are BACK!!!

Your ticker is gone entirely....Wierd!
I will be at the Halloween Cub Scout meeting at 8pm my time with my little inventor, having survived carving yesterday. Hopefully the rest of his costume arrives today, I need to make a backup shirt just in case this afternoon...and some pack meeting treats...and have him finish something Jeff was supposed to handle with him on Sat while I was at the gym.
Maybe I can get Jeff to do the meeting since Evan needs campaign speech coaching and practice....hmmn....
Between that, dinner, and Dancing with the Stars  I will probably not be online until about 10 and then not for long. Unless I con Jeff into the pack meeting!

I am PUMPED about Hoop De Doo! I really think it will be lots of fun with this group of ladies!
Y'all will bring FUN!! for sure!!
Ohana, Teppan, and Boma...:cloud9:
I would hate to lose any of these places - but consider this - if you are at the Poly (wooHOO) You really aught to consider adding Kona - as well as going to Captain Cook's CS meals!! (altho personally I'd ski; the Tonga Toast - blech - but do figure out that ordering system before you NEED to know!! )
Yum!
Definately figure Cali Grill OOP!! Its not "worth" 2TS
:rotfl:
I am interested to see who comes to hang with her? popcorn::
ME ME ME - ooooo - Pick ME!! ;)
:scared1: Really? Would you take FD over the Poly? Hmm.... This requires some consideration on my part. :surfweb:
nah - TAKE THE POLY for PIN "alex"!!
Some math genius' on the Restaurant and DVC that will give figures - take the Poly!!
I will have to finish up my replies and some more drivel tomorrow morning..... It's getting pretty late, my water pipes burst again (remember those enemies I told you about?) time to empty the buckets again, and DH is grouchy that the patch job didn't work. Argghhh!! I'll start with you first thing, Cynthia!! Promise!!!

The Poly - :cloud9: - that is where we would like to stay! The GF seems too stuffy and if I were to buy DVC it would be at CR/BLT but a regular stay our top choice if we could stay anywhere would be the Poly. So Maroo - how many rooms can you book under this superduper whole year pin code of yours? :rolleyes1
I am interested to see who comes to hang with her? popcorn::
Hmmm - that should be interesting. Can't wait to see if anyone else tags along with the TC3!
I lost my quote about FD being two CS credits. It was already that way this year. The traditional FD was two 2 CS credits unless you were at a moderate or Deluxe resort, got a hippy dippy pin code so you can stay value and get 1 TS/1 CS (like I did) or paid to upgrade from two CS to 1 CS/1 TS. So unless there are more changes in the works, that is FD as we currently know it.

Well...since you asked! :)
It is for most of 2010. They say I can book up to two rooms...but, of course, I would have to be in one of them.
So...I say...the more the merrier!
So far I am going:
Jan 7-10 (Marathon Weekend - PIN doesn't apply)
March 5-7 Princess Half-Marathon Weekend - ASSp - quick trip - I think I get a better deal as a participant than the PIN offers for value
Sept trip (this trip report!)
December 9-13 - WL - for the big meet weekend. I assume this will happen again next year.
But...I get Friday's off now...and it really would not be a big deal for me to take half a day on Thursday and do a Thursday night - Sunday noonish trip...so...I am game! Throw out some dates...unless you want to just join us...and let's go! I love my AP!
And spliting the cost of a room is a great idea or even just sharing the code!
I also plan to get a Tables in Wonderland card for my Dec trip that I can use all year, too. To save money on food.

I wonder how much it would cost us to upgrade our Dining Plan to Deluxe? Maybe that would solve some issues? Not sure if we would really eat that much?? Not sure how much it costs? But that would give us 10 credits to use in those 6 days...?

Wow, look at all I missed in just 2 days! A Pin Code, staying at the Poly, revealing restaurant choices, changing minds.....;) I am glad I missed the drama on the PP thread on the CB though, it would have probably made me very angry, and who needs that?
All7ofUs - I think those 3 extra days by yourself will be awesome. How fun to be able to go back and just do whatever you want, things you missed, things you really enjoyed and want to do again, look at more closely, etc. :thumbsup2
Maroo - do you have Homecoming pics to share? I'm so glad Lauren got to go even if it wasn't quite what she had expected, it's still better than never going! :goodvibes Is she feeling any better yet? Can you get H1N1 more than once?
And I completely missed out on guessing for San Angel, though that pic did make me really hungry. Can I have a 1/2 point for guessing the country right on Tangierine Cafe if not the restaurant name?

I don't have pics yet. She actually borrowed my camera and I have not seen her since the dance (except at church and only for a second). But I do promise pictures as soon as I can get my hands on some. It may be Tuesday evening or Wed, though.
She is better. She said she actually feels "like herself"...for the first time in 3 weeks. She slept till 2:00 PM on Saturday and went to bed at 7:00 on Sunday evening - so I think the extra sleep did help! But she is back at school today.
H1N1...There have been reports of people who thought they got it two times. We have had people that have actually tested positive for the flu twice. But, I think in the majority of the cases it is either still hanging around (it makes some people tired for over a week) or it is possible that the person did not have it the first time when they thought they did.
Lauren tested negative for the flu - but whatever it is has hit her Mom HARD. She is quite sick today. And her brother didn't get it (he did have the flu earlier)...so...who knows.
Someone on the Community Board had posted that her friend had it...some of us have been praying for him for 4 days now...he passed away today. Very sad. Middle-aged man with two older children.
And I completely missed out on guessing for San Angel, though that pic did make me really hungry. Can I have a 1/2 point for guessing the country right on Tangierine Cafe if not the restaurant name?
You will have to take that up with the Management. :rolleyes1

Ok, finally all caught up. Only on your ptr so far, I'm so far behind on everything. I'm settling into a routine of homeschooling Jack, though there are still many challenges. Work responsibilities increased again, and Joey has been sick. I'm so bummed I missed so much since I totally would've gotten three of your clues for dining establishments correct.
:cheer2::dance3: for the Poly upgrade :yay::woohoo: I'm so jealous
I am also bummed you revealed all your dining places, but I'm sure you can come up with another fun game for something else.
Ok it's past my bedtime and I have an early morning tomorrow, but I'm excited for you all on that upgrade and can't wait to read more. :)

Oh I know that part, that lost part....finding it is a bit scary and intimidating.
It is just that. I've had company for so long (and very good company, I might add) that I just don't know what I'd do without someone to share the fun with. It will be learning the art again of making one's own fun.
Extrovertitis I think.
Good name for it!
Relaxed and just hanging out....no agenda...does sound
I think if I'm not doing any TS meals (which would be just wrong, I think!) then that's ok, except, I think I will end up doing at least one or 2 and would want ADR's. Also, I probably will take maroo's advice and go for a 2nd MNSSHP and count on that in my planning.
And just so we are clear, I will NOT be checking off every box on that drink card. :rotfl: even if I somehow manage to get to the world more than once next year :rolleyes1
I will however have fun deciding which boxes to color in....
:lmao: Well, whatever you miss.... ;)
I am thinking though that you now need at least 2 more dividers!
Undoubtedly...
The poly! So well deserved, I'm thrilled for you guys!!!!!!!!! Sad about the hot tub though, that's just plain odd if you ask me but hey, you will have a volcano in your pool!
And who could go wrong with THAT?!
With as light as eaters as you say you are, this probably works out perfectly! I love your TS choices. Can you all do CP instead of Biergarten? You both seem rather sad about that one....
We could, but we already have one morning with an 8:00 EMH, I don't think I'd want to go to MK twice super early.
What a great list Maroo!
Definitely going to steal some of those ideas! Thanks, maroo!
More greetings from Central Asia!
I just happened to be disboard surfing - ok yes we might call it an addiction!:rotfl: And there was your PTR right at the top! Ok I am dancing a zillion dances in celebration:dance3: - the POLY - you are going to have a fabulous time! A little down home southern charm POR style followed by Hawaiian happiness at the Poly!!! I look forward to seeing more surprises as they unfold :surfweb:- you will have a great trip! And enjoy that solo time - I am thinking - "hey" if I have to travel to the States anyway - why not do a transatlantic Disney cruise!!?? Haven't booked it yet but I am stoked and brushing up on my research! What is a fish extender???:rotfl: The results of my research - apparently lots of people do Disney solo and really enjoy it! Have a great time!
Hi There Again!! It's so great to have another dis-placed Disney lover here! Thanks for coming onboard!!
We're so, so excited for the poly!! What a beeeee-u-tiful spot to get some VERY much needed R and R. (Heating system rant coming!)
Yes, I'm sure there will be plenty more excitement and surprises coming your way. ;)
Hmmm... a Disney cruise?? Actually, I"m needing to go the other way back home- over the Pacific. And with the Poly being added, I"m at MAXIMUM budget for this trip. There will be nothing left AT ALL. Blowing the whole wad so to speak. I think one of the things I want to do during my solo time is to hit the Caribbean Beach and walk around the lake and sit by the white sand. The shopping there looks fun too. I also LOVE the Fort. Did you know that's where the Disney stables are for the horses they use in parades and on Main Street? It's fun to go over there and talk to the CMs there and see the memorabilia they have on display. I also LOVE trains and there's a Disney train museum at Wilderness Lodge Villas full of Walt's train stuff. So, to make a long story short, I really want to do some resort hopping.
The Poly!!!
What more can be said??!!!
Oh...that sounds WONDERFUL...a Transatlantic Cruise...:cloud9:
And I just read your whole TR! :) Enjoyed it! Great pics - good times! :thumbsup2
It does, but unfortunately, I'll be taking the trans-Pacific (think LOOOOOONG) flight. No Disney Pixie dust here.
I believe her "water" pipes also carry the "heat" to her house. They have these pipes around the house, I believe, that warms up the house. So...water issues and heat issues. :sad2:
She speaks truth: *****WARNING- RANT ON ITS WAY****
Our "water pipes" that I keep talking about indeed are our heating pipes. Not drinking water. They carry the hot water that the city pipes all over town, heated at a huge plant just outside of town with coal or natural gas (depending on which is cheaper at the time). They snake all over the house in an unsightly manner causing me much disgust and consternation. They constantly need to be painted, but rarely are, and every fall when we turn them on, there are invariably several leaks. This year was no exception; except that we knew about them last spring. I, for the life of me, cannot understand why my DH didn't fix them earlier, but to be fair you do need to turn the system of to fully check out how bad they are and exactly where the leaks are. Well, one "leak" was not just a leak. It decided to completely burst all over my walls, and flooded our kitchen. Remember, this water is under 5 atmospheres of pressure! My walls now need paint- again- but that can't be done until warmer weather in May.
Finally, this morning DH tried once again to use a huge C-Clamp (homemade) with rubber underneath to patch/fix it. That took all morning (my precious DISsing time) to fix. It took all 5 of us working together, standing by with tools, rags, emptying buckets, etc.... to get it done. So far, so good; let's all keep hoping we are set to go with hot, warmth giving, joy sustaining heat coursing through our stress-inducing, persnickity pipes. Hence, I was not able to get back to my responses until now.
RANT OVER.
:scared1: NOT again!! Hope it all gets worked out ASAP :wizard:
Its just wrong when Real Life gets in the way of Dissin!
:confused3 I dont see no stinkin Tickers!!

Yup, again!
I don't think I can afford to upgrade, although I'd give up my dessert any day for an appie!! We'll be ok. I had budgeted paying OOP for everything when we first started to make sure I could do this w/o FD incase they didn't offer it. Now that we've upgraded, I'm right at max. budget for the trip- $1,500. Almost, in fact, on the nose.
Nope, tickers are down again, but honestly, I just don't have the time to fart around with a new one right now. It'll have to be maybe when DH goes out of town next when he brings the laptop home and I can stay up way late.

See, that's what I love about being here in this "community". I had no idea that FD was that way at values, so now I can plan accordingly "in the know". 2 nights ago, before I knew that, I was thinking I'd add Jiko's so as to pursue the AKL "trifecta" as Jordo refers to it- :lmao:- and that sounded just divine. Alas, without TS credits, there is no way===== unless, unless, I could swing in for coffee and dessert? Alert, new idea!!
I remember a comment at some point, "Let's see how the cookies crumble".... Just sayin'...

That's what I"ve been saying all year long! Come on, let's see some more folks come out for the fun!!
TIW. That will surely help on our days w/o DP! We will have to find very creative ways to max that out, won't we??
You just let us all know what that figure would be. Although, I tend to agree, there's alrealy a lot of food with the reg. plan. But it would give us more choices.
I think you guys are too funny! What happens when they open three or four new dining establishments prior to your trip? I think you will love the Poly and the convenience of it. :woohoo:
Good luck with the pipes!
Do you know something we don't know?! ARe there new places opening up?? I do know that Kouzzina is new. Any others you could recommend? Do tell! Def. will be spending some time here, esp. in our MNSSHP day.
Congrats on the code! An upgrade to the Poly is a great idea. I always loved staying there as a kid.
I'd say thanks, but it's not mine. :lmao: So, that poll ended up being a little prophetic after all. Now we can do MOST of the things on there! Cool beans, I say!
Wow, look at all I missed in just 2 days! A Pin Code, staying at the Poly, revealing restaurant choices, changing minds.....;) I am glad I missed the drama on the PP thread on the CB though, it would have probably made me very angry, and who needs that?

I know! It's been a crazy few days here. My own head is still spinning, and now I have a zillion more questions than I did over the weekend!! Crazy stuff.
I only got through about 2 pages of that nonsense, I had to withdraw. Too emotional!
That's exactly what the half of me is saying!! I do love that! But the other half is saying, yeah, but what if there was someone there to split the cost of the room, and to share a few meals with? and to share the joy of what you've seen/done in your day with back at the room?? What if I could someone else who would want to go and do days solo and meet up for evenings and dinner?? That would be cool too!
OK, you're down for 1/2 a point. BTW, I fully intend to pick that game up again, but like in a couple of weeks. Maroo and I need to have some chat time and straighten a bunch of stuff out, then I can go on with the places I haven't yet and the places I love to hit up during my "solo" time. So, more points are possible for sure.
Sorry to hear about your explosive plumbing. That's gotta be a bummer!

You know, that's not the first time our pipes have become rebellious and incorrigable!! I distinctly remember posting about the same time you had ummmm... POP? issues with power flushers that our toilet blew a hole out the back. Then when the city sent "technicians" they actually pumped raw sewage INTO!!!! my house.!!!! :scared1: It took days for the stench to recede and I had to pay my househelper about $100 for new clothes and extra salary to help clean it up. We have issues.
I think the solo will be great however it turns out. I think the first time is a little weird; oh I don't know, maybe it will only be "weird" for about an hour. :confused3 The unknown and all that...

2) See all 4 shows in WS!
3) Go to the WLV train museum
4) I don't care if I meet ANY characters (go ahead, Flame me. I don't care!)
5) I could ride Figment 10 times. No one else seems to like it :confused3
I could go on and on. That's what makes WDW so amazing. There's enough for EVERYONE to enjoy a full week!!! and then some. But I can't think of anyone who would love to do this with me; least of all my family.
I have been thinking about you and how your homeschooling is going!! So far, so good?? I forgot to mention that the first and most important thing is routine and discipline. With you being teacher and mom, you need to make sure that he is able to follow directions well, and that when you say it's time to do this or that he understands. I know for me, it's easy to let things slide into too casual an atmosphere and things fall apart. I don't know if that makes sense, but a lot of HSing is making sure that character and obedience come first. I"m so glad you're doing it though; you will very quickly see great things from it!
Don't worry, I'll be picking up the game again in a week or two. More chances to score coming up soon. :cheer2:
I also have another idea for a fun game, but it's still very much in the planning phase. More on that later.
Maybe maroo can talk Disney into installing a hot tub at the Poly before this is all said and done. Now wouldn't that be fun??!!
I noticed the Make a Wish trips in your signature! I read a few MAW trip reports on the cruise boards - made me cry! What a great program!! Yay!!
maroo does so much for those families!!! A great heart she has!

Just to put closure on Part I of the Rations Drop game: The leaders tied for 1st place are: shannn and eandesmom with 5 points. Closely behind them with 4 1/2 are Jordan and Pollito916.(they scored half points by begging :lmao:and getting at least the country or part of it right.) And with 4 points are Jen and Sandy. If you think I"m wrong you can quote and post. :rotfl2: Part II will begin when my head stops spinning from maroo's latest diddlings with our ressies, and I've re-established equilbrium in my world. I'd say there will likely be another 6 or so shots at the Grand Prize- which you'll find out what is, when you claim it in person.

Time to make the POP reservation. I think that part of the plan is sewed up!
But, before I make that call, maroo kindly reminded me of a few important details that needed to be considered. First off, my plan was to go room only for now, and wait for any discounts or FD. That seemed easy enough, and I still will wait for a PIN in my name or open to the public, but I can't do the FD with this portion of my trip. It just isn't worth it to have to be stuck with the 1 day ticket that they pin on you, as I'll already have a 10 day from the first part of the trip. For CS only I can eat for 3 days on WAYYYYYYYYYY less than that! Honestly, I've not even checked this out, but they may require you to be there for 4 nights to qualify for FD anyway. But I don't know about that- just a hunch.
So, I'll stick with a room only and pay OOP for cheap eats, and hit the CS places I'd not gotten to yet, and maybe splurge on one super nice meal along the way. To be revealed later... ;) This POP Adventure will be from Monday- Wednesday, checking out on Thursday, flying into Bangkok to meet up with my family.
So, will this end up being totally solo?? Partially solo?? Only time will tell on this one. :confused3

well it was a non issue when we were able to :wizard: stay at the Polynesian our first visit... :rolleyes1
at an area of the pool - set forward from where the slide drops you off is an area that is so hot tub like - it has jets, and seats - and the pool was heated back then... (well it was July I think, but it wasnt 100 deg outside that summer!!)
Really, if you arent going in Jan or Feb - the Florida weather is so HOT HOT HOT and HUMID - do you really sit in a hot tub?
Leisa Pop will be great - I would spring for the 50 section tho - closer to the Food Court, and the quiet pool (when we paid for the section, they had us in the 60's by the pool, I begged for 50's - and viola!!) but that's just me!!
Also - you are right about the Dining Plan - So many CS options - Pop has some great options as well!!

I think you only need a 1 day ticket assuming they even offer FD but the FD for the value's is the QS plan, not the DDP I believe I read somewhere....
Still, you'll have the ticket already and you are right, better than the one day ticket price I think. Not sure. Would have to do the math but trust you on that one.
I like the idea of mixing in a TS though.... for me I burn out on CS type foods as well as the atmosphere, I like to sit down and really relax even if all I order is an app and a salad and a glass of wine! Which would be a typical solo dinner for me. Ahh...it has been a LONG time since I dined solo. There are some aspects of business travel I miss occasionally.

To be revealed later... ;) This POP Adventure will be from Monday- Wednesday, checking out on Thursday, flying into Bangkok to meet up with my family.
So, will this end up being totally solo?? Partially solo?? Only time will tell on this one. :confused3
Meantime, I dreamt all night long of my stay at the Poly!! Wishes on the beach, breakfast at Kona, coffee on my balcony, ahhh....
Room only... Pay OOP for your meals.. request a queen size bed.. Don't ask for the 70's section. I'll come up with more ideas later!
I like your dream.....except for the coffee, which tastes like kaka to me...
LOL The Nescafe or all the coffee?
At the POLY you can drink Kona coffee everyday!... and I'm not even a coffee drinker!!! LOL

I was in the 50s section 3316 facing the lake. It was a non-preferred room and it was fairly close to the Classic Hall. It was quiet as I was towards the end of the hall and the stairs closest to me were not used that often so people didn't pass my room too much.
Everything Pop has pretty good food for a food court. I really didn't mind eating several meals there during my last vacation as they had good variety.

Actually they sold it a long time ago but I'm totally hijacking and digressing here. It still makes me sad though. Really really sad. Good years.
I bought it recently for an coffee chocolate chip shortbread I was making as normal instant is well, disgusting.
It's....interesting.
I won't be taking it camping, this much I'll say. I'll stick to my stainless steel french press. I do pack coffee for the world though, it's a requirement. It won't be VIA though. However I can really appreciate the travel size niceness of it.

Thanks, :goodvibes something new to add to my list. I realized that I am rarely over in that area after dark, so that may be why I haven't seen them. But I don't think I have ever read about them either. I am going to check my UG when I get home.
I doubt you'd find it in the UG, but never hurts to try. I just didn't find too many hidden gem type tidbits in there, but rather a rather large boatload of good stuff about which rooms are good, transportation tips, and stuff like that. Honestly, though, I find the peeps here as good, or better, than the UG. They're the greatest!!!:grouphug:
Aw thanks. :)
You're welcome!! How was your ride along?? Haven't gotten over to your PTR in the last day!! But will today!!!!
Getting a PIN no mater where you are is better than not getting a PIN!!!!!

ITA!!!, Tim! But, let's face it, most folks here I think will still end up at WDW whether they get a PIN or not. They'll either downgrade resorts, not stay as long or eat more simply, but STILL GO! No?? :confused3 Me, for example. I had dedided a loooong time ago to take this vacay, and had made ressies w/0 a pin; when one did come in, it was icing on the cake.
Def. WON"T do 70's. Very much don't need the pool noise!! The 50's is sounding quite nice the more I look. I'm going to spend soem time today looking at the POP thread today.
Coffee? What can I say?? Everything Cynthia says and more. Headaches, withdrawal... OK, I was going to post a super funny story about what happened to me at Hoop last year, but I think I'll post some pictures of just how desperate someone can be for coffee. Coming up a bit later.... :lmao:

OK. Now I know exactly which section to go with. I'll ask for a lake facing room in Bldg. 3 in the 50s. I'm a pretty sound sleeper, but it never hurts to ensure it as best you can.

Master roaster. TRES Cool! Those dudes are cool.
Of course back in the day there was a lot going on at the roasting plant.
Lets just say it often attracted a certain kind of person.
Back before anyone did drug tests.
It can be, and for so long was, like family. Some stores still are. I like Peets quite a bit (though Starbucks would say the "over roast it", certain blends and then Tully's too. We don't have many Peets stores, or Tully's and it is annoying how lame the grocery selecitons are. I'm rather fond of the San Francisco (bay maybe? forget the actual brand name) Organic Rain Forest blend from Costco as our daily brew these days.
Dunkin Donuts though...BLEH!
Now that I no longer get it for free. See I really need a new job where I get something cool for free. A commodity. I sold wine for about 4 years and then coffee. I miss those perks. It changes my grocery budget quite a bit!
I like mine black too.
Think of all the calories we save this way! Plus it just tastes better, the pure essence of coffee!

OK, I promised my Hoop de Doo story. Not exactly a drunk story (ala Jordo's) but hilarious nonetheless...
So, we thoroughly enjoyed the Hoop. It was achingly funny, full of corny puns, a little adult humor mixed in, a bunch of noisy hoopla for the kids, and pre-paid bottomless sangria. I have to admit, our waiters were not on the ball- AT ALL! I think they purposely make themselves scarce to keep the bottom line on the low side.
Regardless, what I did get tasted sweet and cold, and it was going down pretty well. It needed fruit floaties, but hey, you take what you can get.
By the time we headed out, everyone was in quite a jovial mood, still laughing and singing that silly song that gets stuck in your brain for the rest of you vacation and beyond. Hoop-de-doo, Hoop-de-Doo...:rolleyes1 There may have even been hand holding and skipping? :confused3
In my mood of merriment and mirth, I skipped right on into the bathroom. But something seemed horribly amiss, when I noticed bare butts standind along the wall smiling at me. :scared1: I think I may have screamed? I don't even know, maybe I was so stunned I stood there in a dumb-founded silence. All I knew was that I was in the most "wrong" of all places!! :scared1:
Butt, as horrifying as that was, worse yet, was that I knew I had to go back out. For those of you who've never had the joy of going to Pioneer Hall at the Fort, let me give you the layout. Off to the side of the main entrance are the restrooms and guest services windows. Directly, in front of the bathroom doors are rows and rows of benches. You don't have to guess that after 500 people emerge from a dinner show with unlimited pre-paid drinks there's going to be a fair amount of toilet action. Those benches were FULL of "specatators". I'm not sure, but my face must have been 1,000 shades of red when I came back out and loudly announced, " Well, ladies and gentlemen, that was my own little Hoop de VIEW!" I was feeling rather proud of my quick wit- see I hadn't had too much Sangria, afterall... More than a few had the grace to laugh with me, not AT me. Unfortunately, I didn't manage to escape quickly enough for at least one of the "views" to come out and catch my eye and smirk.
So, that is the most outstanding memory of both the Hoop and Sangria. This Sept. I'm going to try again, butt now I know which door is which.

Yeah, I love wrong bathroom stories- so naturally can't wait for yours. I have another one, but it's not nearly as funny as this one. My sister is quite the comical one, and walks in the men's, but is too stricken to just exit. So, instead she holds up her hands, and says, "It's OK, guys! It's nothing I haven't ever seen before." :scared1::scared1: :rotfl2::rotfl2:
Yah, I love wrong bathroom stories- so naturally can't wait for yours. I have another one, but it's not nearly as funny as this one. My sister is quite the comical one, and walks in the men's, but is too stricken to just exit. So, instead she holds up her hands, and says, "It's OK, guys! It's nothing I haven't ever seen before." The whole lot of them burst out laughing---- as they turned AROUND to look at who was saying it!! :scared1: OMG!!! She left quickly.
OMG (goodness!) This thread is on a roll!!!!! I thought it would of ended last night... but it continues!
I. am. tired.
Tim - how do you stay up so late all the time? :confused3
Oh well...at least I am all caught up at work. Got here EARLY and knocked a bunch of stuff out before the phones started ringing! :)
I think I am just used to it. I usually get 7-8 hours of sleep a night. I guess that is enough for me. I have to wake up early every other day, we take turns getting up with Juliana at 7am (she has an internal alarm). I got to sleep in today till 9!!!
Geeze, what is up with all these dinner shows getting us loopy?! :drinking1:drinking1 :rotfl:
FREE BOOZE!!!!!
So...wait a second...
Is Hoop De Doo bottomless alcoholic drinks? I thought this was a family show? :rotfl2:
Not that I care. I don't care for the stuff....but if it is free...and bottomless? :rolleyes1
I know i just wrote FREE BOOZE but you are paying for it! I saw some people with pitchers of beer at their tables. Our waiter was good filling mine though. I had 3-4... i think.... before the bus fiasco!:scared1::scared1: (TR hint!):lmao:

THREE PAGES BEHIND! :scared1:
sure go and have all the fun when dh takes the computer and goes to a scout meeting... *pout *pout!! (lol hah at least I could catch up when I snagged the computer back!)
I know a great friend of mine's husband was a master roaster? for years at the green dot (I had no idea what you were talking about). He left for the same reasons that they sold out.......
I love the Starbucks by my church. They treat me like family. I like Peets coffee much better, but there are not many around here.
I do like the VIA. I don't LOVE it, but compared to what you get at WDW, it's pretty good. The Starbucks right down the street closed so for my roommate the VIA does the trick...
I watched a show - maybe Alton Brown that said you can use one of those old fashioned popcorn poppers - that have you twirling the handle that turns the kernals... you can USE THAT for roasting your own coffeee - -
dh is into coffee - he would like to roast his own...
Black baby, I take it black!
no cream, no sugar.
Will do on ice but then it's got to be an Americano.
Coffee is ALWAYS the first item on my packing list.
eww coffee - cant stand THE SMELL, let alone the taste!! Poor dh - when I was pg dh had to take his coffee OUT - the smell sent me reeling and bowing to the porcelain gawds!!
but for Disney - I pack beans, and the 1 cup thingy you put in a filter, a scoop of coffee, then pour boiling water...
Well, then, is she looking for a ladies' trip next Sept? We could have one room for black drinkers and one for cake in a cuppers. And for you, Cherie, we could even get a 3rd room for those who choose to abstain. ;)
Pick me for Room #3!! :goodvibes
Hey now.
Are you kicking me out of the FIRST room?
:rotfl:
You do remember I don't drink coffee.... :rotfl2:
neither do I!!
Liesa is famous in stories across the USA.:rotfl2:
well, that is a better history than the poor woman who posted on the Theme board about her experience at Blizzard Beach (or was it Typhoon Lagoon?) anyway, she set the story, and went down the slide and lost her suit!! Bless her who ever or where ever she is!!
Nothing like that would ever happen to me... :rolleyes1

oh, and let me just add about the "fee booze" you get what you pay for... :rolleyes1
(as in I learned my lesson at a company event that had free booze, a comic, and I had just been to a wake of my best friend - who was all about the stage and comedians... I really didnt mean to be a heckler.... :rolleyes1 let alone embarrass my dh!)

I miss the perks of working at Sweet Tomatoes/Souplantation, Disneyland, Cheesecake Factory.........
YOU WORKED AT THE CHEESECAKE FACTORY????!!!!!!
I love that place...it's a good thing the closest one is 3 hours away...
, " Well, ladies and gentlemen, that was my own little Hoop de VIEW!" I was feeling rather proud of my quick wit- see I hadn't had too much Sangria, afterall...
:lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

So does this mean I'm rooming with Jordy?
we are a lonely breed us black coffee drinkers I guess.
However Jordan has again come to my rescue, had he not mentioned VIA I'd have forgotten that I had some leftover from my shortbread baking and therefore was NOT out of coffee.
Now I can survive until the evening Costco run. Or more importantly caffeinate up before I get grilled by interview terror #2.
Whew!
Cheesecake factory = yum!
I confess I actually spilled my wine at the HDDR. Before the salad even arrived and before I did my normal "talk with the hands" action that has been known to take out a glass or two. Yes. I gesticulate. All.the.time. It provides many people much fodder.
But it was on the first glass....2 tables pushed together, I set the glass down on the seam...
Really.
Nothing like a huge red stain on the table cloth staring at you during dinner to make you not have more than 2 glasses!

We are going in Sept...and most of our dining spots have been revealed. But before this trip in Sept, I am going in Jan and March. (I know...flame away!) My March trip is just 2 nights with Lisa (not to be confused with Liesa :thumbsup2) for the Princess Half Marathon.
So...I decided to go ahead and book my reservations. I did not wake up at 3 AM on the 27th. Today - as you know - is the 29th. So I was not sure what I could snag.
But I got Le Cellier, Friday evening at 7:15.
And Crystal Palace for Lunch on Saturday 12:00.
AND Ohana, Saturday evening, 7:00.
I don't know that we will actually keep all of these. We will need to eat well before the Half, but not too much. Lisa loves Pooh characters as much as I do - so I figured that one would be good. And a good steak sounds AWESOME. I wonder if I should move that to Saturday evening? :scratchin:
Now why, oh why, do we wake up so blasted early to get our ressies? :surfweb:
Anyway...back to your regularly scheduled programming!

DH and I were contemplating that very fact last night too. I know I'd do terribly in math, but I think my writing and Comp. Reading scores would go WAY up! It'd be fun to take it just because someday, I think.
that's nice

Tim's write (;) see below). I think they added the writing section becuz no one could rite anything coherent anymore- kidz would get to skool and flounder in that area. Hence, a new section.
WOW! This was great! Finally a paragraph I could understand!:lmao:
Tonight is the opposite of last night. No one is around. I've just been reading the theme parks & dining boards. I should of been writing the next installment of my TR. I have to upload the photos first though.:surfweb:

We share your happiness and delight!!! (and shock!) From wahoo! to wowza we're here for you!
Geez, I guess I made it sound like I was pumping myself up... Didn't mean for it to look like that!! But when I went back to read it, it sorta came out that way. I'm just really excited that this may mean some good scholarships; and that means fewer loans for him. (It also means I didn't completely screw him up :lmao:)
Another newsflash...
I just saw a picture of him posted on FB of him HOLDING HANDS WITH A GIRL!!!! OK, that was shock. I didn't ever expect to find out about a possible first girlfriend via the internet. Weird! Is this how all parents find out about these things?? :confused3

Don't you apologize for being excited about your son's score. You did not sound like you were bragging at all. You sounded like a justifiably proud and excited Mama!!
Congratulations!! That is an amazing score! :cheer2:
As for the girlfriend, all I want to know is, is she cute and does she look like she's a Mickey-lover?? 'Cause these are the important things, y'know! :rotfl:

Hey, Heather! Thanks!! It's good to know there's other out there who can be excited with me!!
I just saw you on Christine's report; such a sweet gift bag you left her; can't wait to hear about your Adventurer's Club dinner with her.

I'm glad you didn't read it that way. ;) Mom's will go to great lengths to brag on their kids, though!!
Yes, she's very cute, and invited me to be a friend on FB. HA!! She's really outgoing and sweet; too bad she's only a Junior and he'll be going back to the States for school in June. I think it won't be anything more than a testing grounds for bigger things to come. But she is a nice one to keep him company. princess:
