I thought I would seize this moment and grasp this momentous occasion of writing the 1,000 post on our little Pre-Trippie Party! I think this monumental event is a golden opportunity to spread a little cheer.
:cheer2:
Whoopee!
You better PRAY the tag fairy doesn't get a hold of THAT line!
Do they still exist? I haven't seen a new tag in forever!!! I'd laugh so hard!
:rotfl:
You know I didn't guess Casey's, despite knowing how much Liesa loved it in her last TR (what did you guys go there like three times?) because..
of the bun issue
and now the new "mix"
I figured that might cross it off the list.
That certainly was good reasoning! I was pretty hacked off when my chili ended up on my pants!! NOW THIS!!! IT'S AN OUTRAGE! Next, they'll take away the cartoons!
But naw, old habits die hard. I'll prolly eat there 3 times again.
You two are too funny! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Hey, it's been awhile since you've joined us!! Hope you are well! Glad to have you back!
Whoa, I learn so much from this PTR! The wedding sounds interesting and crazy!!!
I will be sure to take lots of pix, and post them on my blog, and maybe a couple here too.

It's true. SHe's asked for it about 12 times. I think I need to get my Excel sheet made up, and send it to her. :lmao:
If I remember, you did approve the list. So, you should like them all...
WHAT!? First, no more Figaro Fries, now this travesty!!! :sad2: You know, this isn't the first time they've diddled around with my dogs. Last year they messed with my buns. (Let's not get carried away and take that literally, please!) They went with some whole wheat crap that falls apart in your lap. I know. Stop already!!! Leave them alone!
Exactly!! Good luck with the Blessing!
You better PRAY the tag fairy doesn't get a hold of THAT line!
:rotfl: :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl: :rotfl2:
The tag fairies must've gotten laid off -
sad that...
time was you could PM a tag Fairy!! on one of the "clique" threads I'm on, a CM posts, she's older, refined, sweet, quiet, kind... well she did post something similiar we were cracking up - I PM'd a tag fairy and she got that tag!! every time she deleted it, I'd PM and it would pop back up!! It was hilarious... then it disappeared for real... sad that... :sad1:
:rotfl:

I like the list code!! I learn something new every day!! So many things have changed, and gone - the French Toast loaf was TOO popular! I think the things that got axed were things that took too long to make - like those figaro fries.. :confused3 They are trying to mainstream too much!! dagnabit!
Maroo I saw that link posted on a CM board, it is sad for the family... people dont want to think about death at Disney... there are a couple of dis'ers who's husbands died at Disney! (heart attacks I think) there's a circle of life we dont like to think about in the Happiest of Places - but if the child was special needs - he may have gotten his wish! He is soarin with Angels now!! No ropes attatched! :littleangel:

The middle link is the one to my blog. The one with the camel on it. I update it about once a week- usually with something about the culture I live in, or what's going on here, sometimes with pictures. It provides a pretty good glimpse of what life is like for me living "over here".

Thanks! I'll need it!
Yeah, the tags were a funny and creative touch to the DISboards. Too bad they are so inactive!
Next place we'll be eating at will be early next week. I'm thinking now of a creative way to present it.
If they axe my Dole Whip float, heads will be a rollin'!
If it's my time to go, I can't think of a better place, than the Happiest Place on Earth. From the happiest place on earth, to simply "the happiest place. Period." A heart attack on BRMRR?? Of all the ways I think I like that one a lot! Nevertheless, I really feel for this family!! It is never, never easy for those who are left behind and are grieving a heavy grief.
that's nice

So, today's your last day to get errands done. Will you make it?? Feeling ready? I guess if you had decided to leave today, you'd have been ready, right? So, don't sweat it. Whatever you forget, you can buy there- just don't forget to turn off the coffee pot!!! ;)

It's time for RATIONS DROP #2, my friends!!
This one should be easier for you. So, here's your chance to score some points, if last week's restaurant's answer eluded you. Give me your best guess!
Predator, prey is my motif
Rhythmic music from a colorful chief
Tangy sandwich on a bun
Of its equal there is none
Fresh and sweet fruity platter
Great big onions dipped in batter
Quiet pool that springs from yonder
Mountains in the distance for one to ponder
Where am I; Who can I be?
Please take a guess, if you can see!
There you have it! Where will the TC3 be dining for our CS place of choice #2??

Well, once again we find ourselves having lost another month to the annals of time. Some of us have been lucky enough to have gone onto victory having captured the elusive week of freedom found in our collective "Happy Place". For most of the rest of us, we are still slogging away in real life; plotting, planning and deploying our various weapons in hopes of grasping our prize after a long hard fight.
I don't know about your battle fronts, but mine are very active and engaging. The dishes give a hard fight every few hours, laundry is attacking on every side, and my students clamor for my every attention for 8 hours a day!!
So, we all know that as soldiers present themselves as faithful and perserverant, they are rewarded with upgrades and advancements. These equate to better pay and much better benefits, as well as more respect and more responsibility. Last month we spent our time being "Sergeants First Class". Ahhhh, just the name made me feel special and priveleged; but now there's something even better!! Yes indeedy, Peeps! We are NOW:
MASTER SERGEANTS!!!
YES SIRS(and Madams!), we are masters of our game plan (well sort of); we are masters of our plan of attack (okay, kind of); we are masters of ummm, what else can we be masters of?! HA!
So, this month we will revel in our new title, not that it means diddley squat, and enjoy the priveleges that lie there within (what are those?! :lmao:).
HA!!! It is fun to count down our months though! See that ticker??

I like how you address us in "soldier speak" Of course I'm battling in Basic Training - and I'm lucky I have a dh that will battle the dishes!! I may have to trudge out to a laundromat to slay the Laundry Monster :laundy: ah well, such is life!!
I'm highly (NOT) anticipating my turn at the 3am online frustration so I can call and :worship: beg for ADR's But I wont have to battle intense heat if we choose to eat outdoors in Animal Kingdom - I hear the sandwiches at Flame Tree BBQ are quite delish...

I am glad we got a pay raise! :yay: I could get used to these monthly upgrades in rank and pay! Do we get any extra vacation days? :confused3

Hiya, this soldier is plain ole' pooped. On top of daily mom soldiering chores I had added part time job to the mix a couple months ago which has been turning into nearly being full time hours, guess this soldier is too efficient. ;) And there is the planning our first family fun filled Walt Disney World adventure I'm preparing for, but that is fun, wish I could do that all day for a job :cloud9:
And to add to that I'm attempting the homeschooling thing with Jack since we got wait listed for the pre-k program this year. Going to pm you for information on books and other supplies.
So my guess for the week, Flame Tree BBQ, that is on our list too ;) I was going to say take lots of pictures for me, but I'm going before you :lmao: so that won't work :rotfl2:

Hi Sandy!
Yes, it's a daily battle- those regular, icky chores we have to trudge through every day. I long for my Week O' Freedom with the girls!!
You added REAL basic training !!! I am so impressed with your progress- GO GIRL, GO!
Yes!!! You are one of the lucky winners this time. I'll add a point to your score.

Yes, I noticed my ticker was "sleeping" a couple of days ago, too. Whatever, I know exactly how many days we must train for 'til that Victory is sealed up!
Pay raise- yes, what to do with that? HA! Like Peter Pan says, "if you dream it long enough, it will come true!" LOL! :lmao:
I want to take a guess at a restaurant in Animal Kingdom... but the fruit platter and fried onions are throwing me off! :confused3 Especially since they are used in the same line...

You get half a point for getting the right park, Kathy!! Congratulations! Yeah not many people know you can get a REALLY yummy fresh fruit platter at the Flame Tree. We got it last year; it comes with a tasty yogurt dip and feeds easily 2 as a side dish! MMMMMmmm!:cloud9: The order of onion rings is ginormous!!! We got 2, and with the other stuff we ordered, we ended up giving one entire order (untouched) away to a super sweet Brit family.
I'm going with Flame Tree and dining al fresco!
Shannon!! Good for you! Yes, one of the most neat parts of our whole time in AK was eating by the Lily Pond in the shade. It was so tranquil and peaceful!
I'm guessing Yak & Yeti?!
Ooops! Not quite, but you do get half a point for going with somewhere in AK!!! BTW, how's your planning coming for your spring break trip?? Going now to check if you've started a PTR.

Hi There!!! Thanks for playing along!! OK, then, YOU now have 2 points!! One of those few in the lead. I'm still trying to figure out what the prize will be for our game. I'm sorta thinking about maybe going with a pin- cuz they are sorta like medals on a soldier. What do you think?? But, like last time, you have to claim your prize IN PERSON!!! :lmao:
What do you mean you couldn't ketchup any of our clues?? :lmao:

Could you drop something out of your heavy pack to lighten the load?? Anything you don't need to carry?? Are you required to hoist such long hours at work? or is that something YOU are adding??
I saw your PM, and will answer it later today, while you are hopefully getting a GREAT night's sleep. ;)

First of all, I wanted to chime in, and draw your attention to our poll!! Lookie there!! An extraordinary thing has happened in the last few hours that I really never expected to see.
Upgrading our resort AND getting PHs and having a sig. dinner are TIED!!!!!
That certainly throws a monkey wrench into planning now doesn't it. Not that we're really going to let a poll result determine things too much, but it is VERY interesting to me to see this!!
I think at this point, getting PHs is a done deal. Honestly, I can go either way on this! I can spend all day in one park and be perfectly happy. If the line for BTMRR is packed, I'll just go on the Liberty Belle. There are so many little things I haven't done in a long time, that I'm dying to do in my freedom of not having a big group to lug around with me.
I'd love to upgrade to the Poly, but I just can't see the funds being sufficient to do it. We talked about the possibility of a split stay, but we're still very unsure how that would work out.
Anyway, I'm not sure what my point is, except, that I was surprised to see an even split here!!
What do you think?

Seriously!
I was so shocked. I didn't believe them. Really? :confused3
I even asked on the resorts thread. :rotfl2:
I can't believe it.
Can you believe it??
I've heard the same thing. I can't imagine what they were thinking when they redid the entire pool area and didn't put a hot tub in. Crazy!!

Hey Cynthia!!! Score for you! Have you ever eaten there?? I can't remember from your TR.
Nope. I wanted to. It was my BFP for AK day.
We had eaten at HDDR review the night before.
It was warm out.
My beloved husband looked at me like I had 3 heads and said
BARBECUE? AGAIN?
and thus a deep and enduring love relationship was born between Yak and Yeti local foods, their African Amber and...PORK EGG ROLLS! officially the best snack in the world. Ok, it'll be deep and enduring AFTER we go back and have it again.
It's his room. He just closes the door. It only bothers me when I have to find something in there....maybe Jimmy Hoffa is in there somewhere.;)
ok now I am disturbred.

Really? No HT at the Poly? methinks you are right
Recreation at Disney's Polynesian Resort provides fun for the entire family, with 2 pools, 3 beaches, surrey bike and watercraft rentals, a children's activity center and access to a health club and spa.
The Nanea Volcano Pool, one of two heated pools at Disney's Polynesian Resort, features a 40-foot high volcano as well as a waterfall and a 142-foot tubular waterslide. Nearby is a children's wet-play area. The beach end of the pool requires no steps to enter or exit, and a specialized water wheelchair is available, allowing access directly into the pool.
The Poly East Pool, also called the "quiet pool," offers deeper depths.
No mention of a hot tub....and there is if you look under recreation on the other resorts

You might want to post a big L on my forehead, for when it comes to Flame Tree BBQ, I'm planning on the salad. I'm really planning this meal for my DH, he loves him some BBQ and meat of course. I don't eat meat (chicken and turkey on occasion) and the baby and I will probably also share the fruit plate.
I'd love to cut back my hours, even trying to get a day off, but my work really isn't having it. my boss, the catering manager, says she needs me there. no one else has been trained to do what I do yet, but we've all been there the same amount of time :confused3
Mary- wow no hot tub at the Poly, that is shocking, very shocking :scared1: I hope to stay there one day, but with no hot tub :sad2: it doesn't fit the Poly image I had in my head

I have...
an Emergency Confession that should be IMMEDIATELY added to my list of Confessions for our trip.
Both Lauren and Lisa have said that I must declare this...
It may affect my ability to walk in sync with my fellow soldiers.
It is true.
You see. I don't know my left from my right.
I think it is all of the anatomy classes I have had over the years. And taking care of people... Lauren's RIGHT is my LEFT. And it is confusing! So...whenever someone asks me to turn right...I cross my fingers on my right hand. It helps me remember which one is my right hand. And I have been known to make an L with my left hand to remind me that it is my left hand.
Anyway...
I am sitting at Lauren's house and they are all making fun of me and the first thing they said I had to do was CONFESS....to you people...that you should be aware when giving me any orders!
Left!
Left!
Left, Right, Left!
Left!
Left!
Left, Right, Left!
Have a great night, everyone!

so am I.
Left/right challenged that is.
I believe (for me) it is a mild form of dyslexia. I transpose letters and numbers when writing/typing as well but that's about it.
I will say "turn left" when pointing right.
When I was on drill team I had to grab one pant leg at all time without anyone noticing so when they yelled "right face", I'd remember which one was right and turn the correct direction.
I'd be lost without mapquest. I have to be very careful when verbally giving someone directions as I will easily mix it up if I don't hyper focus and check my work.
And DH expects me to navigate the plane?

GB!- It's OK, you can join in whenever you have the time. I know you went whole month between updates over on your own, so you really must be getting hammered at work and with other family obligations. No worries, mate!
Maroo- OK, I can feel your anxiety. Please don't panic! I won't make you stay at the Poly, where there is no hot tub to have evacuated extemporaneously! :lmao: Surprising? Exceedingly so!! Completely makes no sense whatsoever!
Cynthia- I can so totally see you on a drill team!! Ha!! Grabbing a pant leg! Now that's funny!
NOw. The Confession. This could mean serious ramifications for our trip. Let's say we are headed to EE in the early morning, and Soldiers #1 and #3 have only had time for one cup of coffee AND we've had that Lapu the night before (on the beach, at the Poly, where there is no hot tub, which we couldn't go in anyway, cuz The TC3 doesn't pool hop). We're already a little groggy, and Soldier #1 suddenly screams out "RIGHT!!", becuase she sees a clearer path that will hasten our arrival. Instead maroo goes left, and ends up over at like, I don't know, Dinosaur or something. Could be disastrous, I tell you!! The only thing that can be done is to make double sure her field communications are charged and ready! In case the worst scenario happens. We've been warned! We understand that friendly fire is a possibility...

See...this is where texting can save your life. For the directionally challenged, landmarks are good. I can drive by braille (ok, not literally but you get the idea) as long as I don't have to explain how I got somewhere, I can see how to get there ok. Not sure if that makes sense.
Just skip the left right stuff and provide directions like "Behind Pizzasafari", "next to the Kali FP machine". That kind of stuff I can handle. I can read a map just fine. I just can't regurgitate it or process it right verbally.
And hey, no one ever knew about the pant leg. I won many a drill down let me tell you and went on to glory in marching band, cheer and flag team.
:rotfl:
By then I didn't have to hold the pant leg. That would have been hard in band when I was carrying a xylophone. I needed both hands for my mallets.
Jeff truly didn't believe me until I got us REALLY lost in Naples.
Italy.
I didn't know he expected me to be telling him where to go from the passenger seat in the rental car. I need preparation for that kind of endeavor (so I can fake it well).

Guessing the next TC3 Pig Out Precinct shouldn't be too tall an order to fill. When we arrive we'll be sure to check out the posted explanations of etiquette, and upon leaving we'll be sure to say howdy to Widow Maker and Slewfoot Sue. In between our coming and going, we'll sidle on over and hussle us up some tasty victuals at the auxillary trough. We hear it's loaded with delectable add-ons.
Can you tell me where this could be??

get 3 mason jar rings and string them together in a line. You each put your right hand into a ring and follow along like a line of ducks.

But
:rotfl: at the same time. In retrospect anyway.
See and I have such magical moments of bell solo's, being front and center for the intro to Somewhere over the rainbow....

Ok so by my count we have...
2 Piccolo's (Liesa and Shann)
1 French Horn (Sandy)
1 Metal Xylophone or Clarinet (me, take your pick)
We could make a DISband!
We need a few more instruments though...and they must have paid their dues in HS marching band although exceptions may be made for volunteer marching bands as an adult.
Jazz band doesn't count so Jeff is out.

The view from FT is great!! I remember looking over the water to the mountain and thinking of how pretty that little spot down by the pond really was!

Sandy- This was the first post that goes with WHY you might not have "gotten" the one below. I wish I knew how to put the same quote in a post multiple times, but I've never learned how... Anyway, I had made the faux pas of mentioning a Mrs. Jordan, but he doesn't have one. I quickly went back and editted it out, but was too late. Then, the next day, I said that that messy "COMPUTER ROOM" of his ROOMMATE would be hard for me to put up with. I was swifly corrected once again that it was his bedroom, not the computer room; thus making my score on this whole inane issue 0 for 2. :lmao:

Yes, we could do that. But honestly, I live from trip to trip. I can never count on my next one.
I read on BBCNews about a year ago that there was a couple where the guy actually led his girlfriend around on a leash. The Underground actually denied them on the trains citing it was a "danger to other passengers". I think it was a danger to their own mental health. Weirdos.
Suffince it to say, that you won't be getting a leash from me. We can do better than that!

See and I have such magical moments of bell solo's, being front and center for the intro to Somewhere over the rainbow....
Sigh.
And seriously? Jordy might join the troops and I'll miss you guys by 2 weeks?
WAH!
Here's a gas for you. I was actually DRUM MAJOR in 9th grade!!! I went to drum major camp in Santa Barbara and learned how to twirl that baton thingy that was seriously longer than me!! I had to wear that huge puffy, fuzzy hat that looked like a giant wildebeest on my head. One time, I marched them too far up the street in a practice, and the director screamed at me for not blowing the whistle sooner. We had to break formation and start all over, blah, blah, blah. It was more fodder for my high school nightmares. That guy was an ogre. But it was fun. I love power, and big sticks.

I just missed my 25th. Some things never change...I still don't fit into any one group! Which is just fine by me.
Unless that makes me an anorexic drunk swaggering around geekily.
Which is entirely possible. Except for the anorexic part.
Wait, no swagger, I absolutely flunked being a jock, although not for lack of trying. However when you are told you look like a frog playing basketball or called mummy hands in volleyball...at a certain point, you move on.

I've done it again. I remember Jordan is like 41 or 42, or something super close to my age, and couldn't figure out why he'd be having his 25th, and me only having my 20th. Yeah, I think most folks never change. Really. I went to a pretty small high school, and it seemed I could move in most circles, exept the Cheerleader/Jock cliques. I would have rather spent my Friday nights at the Rocky Horror Picture Show and hot tubbing afterwards with my AP crowd. Total Goobers!!

Then I was on dance team, then I moved twice in my jr/sr years and was like a loner :sad2: amazing what happens without the poms. :lmao:

I think every school is different, to be honest. My cousin was in cheer at her school and was friends with everyone too. So, of course, you we won't vote you off! We would totally miss you! Give me a J!
Awww... that had to be hard! Really hard!! My kids really basically have no friends here either. They have acquaintances, but no real heart and soul mate friends, except each other. Seeing it from a mommy's perspective is really hard!
Okay, I'll give you a no-vote this time. I like your honesty. By the way, I'm thinking of changing voting procedures next time. Too easy to go with the flow, I think. Any ideas??

I keep saying 42 myself. even though I know darn well I'm 43. I just don't like the idea of 44 sneaking up on me! Seems to me I had this same issue of number confusion at 32/33 and then again at 36/37....
See it's easy enough to remember Jeff is 45 but I don't like subtracting my 2 years from that number!
:rotfl:
oh that brings back some memories!
I actually think most people are bigger than that, in my experience and can and do move beyond sterotypes.
Granted, I was a floater, I was a cheerleader, but also a band geek, in AP, but also on the ASB so maybe my perspective is a bit skewed.
Our cheer set up was a bit unusual for most schools. You could only do it one year, either as a junior or a senior. If you made it to the finals, you had to try out in front of the WHOLE SCHOOL. And the whole school voted.
Which you'd think would mean a squad full of a certain type, right?
Nope.
You have never seen a more eclectic group in your life! Most of us were not good friends with each other before we made it and 8 more different individuals might be hard to find. Ranging from god squad to party hearty, from amazing athletes to super popular social types. No clue how I made it on.
My point being is that things are not always what they seem and peeling back the onion is a good exercise!
What I do know is this. Despite the fact that Seattle is a darn big town, a surprising amount of my class mates, self included, came right back to our neck of the woods and our kids are in school together. And I'm still a floater. And, for the most part, I still like them all.
This may get me kicked out of this PTR, but I was the Cheerleader :cheer2: but only for a couple years, and I was friends with EVERYONE, I didn't hang out with the cheerleaders, I hung out with whoever I felt like on whichever given day. Aw JP, I bet it had far more to do with the moving then the lack of poms. Jr/Sr years are brutal that way.

Cynthia- Now that's the way it should be set up to select the cheer squad!!
Our school totally didn't work like that; they had the old cheerleaders and a few of the coaches or a school panel choose them. Hence, a clique is born.
I think the whole school choosing and only doing it for a year is the better way to go. But, hey, there I go shooting off my opinions again. I'm sure there are plenty of others who would totally disagree, so I'm really sorry if I've stepped on anyone's toes. :hippie:
Shannon!!- Yes!! Another Vol!! You MUST come and help up make a fun DISMeet!! Nashville is like 3 hours, right?? Is that too far?? Is there somewhere in between Nash and Knox that might work?? Or are you Knoxies willing to meet up at the Cheesecake Fact. Mall? (sorry don't know the name of it). Maroo and I had a nice time there, and the food is pretty good.
But, I'd love to find a quiet place to meet and sit and get to know each other better too. Is there a park nearby?? Panera's is there too, it's quiet. Let's hear your ideas!!! I'm thinking it will work best for me sometime between August 25-Sept 2?? I know it's a long way off, but I dont' think it's ever too start planning, right?

Well, it looks like we'll get no more guesses on this one, so I'll go ahead and tell you that you WERE ALL RIGHT!!!
http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll305/All7OfUs/Frontierland_05.jpg
Folks, I'm having a really hard time finding a good balance between too easy and too hard. There's got to be a better way. But, I'm still thinking on it.
So, Pecos Bill's and the Tall Inn Cafe was the answer! Mmmm, mmmm!!! Love that toppings bar. You can move just about any burger from the crappy-mediocre category to "pretty OK" with sauteed mushrooms and onions. Fresh tomatoes and plenty of cheese sauce doesn't hurt either. Although, I've heard the cheese sauce is dicey. It wasn't there last year for our trip; which irked me quite some bit. Anyone else know if this is more miss than hit?
Actually, now that I look at the PECOS BILL'S MENU (http://allears.net/menu/men_pec.htm), I'm sorta leaning toward the chicken wrap (with cheese sauce, of course!). I'm not a huge burger fan, so I'll save my burger rations for a better burger establishment.
So, how many of you are familiar with American Tall Tales of Pecos Bill?? Here is an excerpt from my son's reading book (I Met You In a Story- Bob Jones Univ. Press)
"In early American a man had to be strong just to survive. As a result, BIG stories grew up about BIG men who could do BIG, impossible things. But these impossible characters lived only in the minds of their storytellers.
The storytellers were almost always men who wished they could perform great feats. Sometimes they worked at hard, dangerous jobs. Sometimes their jobs were dull. The men wanted to have something to dream about. They wanted to know a bigger-than-life lumberjack, railroad man, seaman, or cowboy. So they invented characters like Paul Bunyan, John Henry, Stormalong, and of course, Pecos Bill."
Slewfoot Sue was Pecos Bill's wife who was just as unbelievable as himself, and of course Widow Maker, was his trusty horse whose "slow and easy" pace was about 60 miles an hour.
I don't know about you, but I feel like Widow Maker when I'm eating at Disney. I really hope that will all change this year!!
Rations Drop #4 will be coming up over the weekend for ya'll to guess at! You won't want to miss it!! By the way, the score is now a 6 way tie!!! So, keep your guesses coming!!! I can't afford 6 pins!! :lmao:

A few thoughts before my weekend hiatus of computer time that came to me while sipping a nice glass of red wine made in the Turgen Valley, not far from here. It is quite nice with our Saturday night flick; The Return of the King. It's been a long day with a bunch of work getting our house ready for, what a lot of folks are saying, will be brutal winter (ie. -30C) and a lot of ice and wind. I also had my quilting class today; of which only 1 student showed up. Ugh! I am frustrated at putting a lot of work into preparing for it, and having students that are very flaky!
Onto trip planning stuff:
I realized that by my writing about our dining choices, you might have the impression that all of us will be eating at all these places together all the time. I'm not sure that will necessarily be true. I'm sure that maroo will join us for most of them, but if I understand correctly, she may actually venture out on her own sometimes. Am I right, maroo?? You'll have to give your opinions on which ones you're most excited about or which ones you are not at all looking forward to as they come up. So far we have Caseys, Pecos Bills, and Flame Tree BBQ.
I'm loving putting my mini-trip notebook together! eandesmom did me up some amazing pages for the section dividers for which I am completely and utterly grateful for. I'm taking my time designing the insert pages with Excel. The thing that is taking so long is the pages of the hidden gems and must-sees and do's for each park. I'm going back through all the books I have and hitting the various websites to double check that I'm not missing anything. Trust me, there's quite a lot of them! It's the little things I want to make sure I have on my lists like seeing the little Ewok houses at DHS, and the flag ceremony at MK. Everything else is done, like my dining review note pages (BTW, my future dining report is already named! :lmao:- seriously!) and a little pocket for my ME info, etc...

BRRR!
That is frustrating I am sure, to put a lot of work into it and have no one show up. I hope you were able to channel that disappointment into an especially pretty piece :)
I think I'm just going to copy all your hidden gems and must see's...it will save me a lot of work.
I didn't know there were little ewok houses!
LOL.
Have a lovely hiatus and we'll see you Monday morning (your time!)

sorry the class didnt show! I think knowing the winter is coming must be hard! I know we complain here (Chicago area) but we're lucky - it rarely goes below zero (unless you count wind chills - it hovers there!) We've had a period of hardly any snow - last year we had 3 snow days - With the cold summer speculation is this is going to be a brutal snowy cold winter all around!
I thought the Devil was in the details!
I guess that's why things get messed up a lot around here!

Man, I missed a lot! I had a busy week - both my daughter's birthdays, and a School for the Blind training that was super intensive. I am ready to unwind and catch up on all the TRs I'm behind on. Bummed that I missed out on 2 brownie points - I totally would have got those!;)
I know, it's a bummer when real life takes over, but birthday parties can be fun too. But if you're like me, you want enough time to do both! :goodvibes This is my unwind place too!
There's lot of time to catch up!! Don't worry! There were several regulars who couldn't make it this time around. Next one coming up shortly...

I'm back. Lots went on over the weekend- happy to be back!
Feel free to copy them out once I get them posted. I'm done with MK, EPCOT WS (still need to finish FW), and almost done with AK, haven't hardly started DHS. But my motto in life (including work with my LD son) is, "Any Progress is GREAT Progress!"
I didn't make anything new over the weekend, I did machine quilt in a border on one that is in progress and added a border to the one I'm going to sell. That one is stalled out though until my very unreliable MIL sends me the last fabric I need. And even then, I have to hope it's the right one. UGH!

Yes, waiting around for winter is always tough here. But, because we have what's called an "extreme continental climate", we typically only have about 3 weeks of fall and 3 weeks of spring. 6 weeks of tolerable weather ALL YEAR LONG! Overnight it goes from "fall-ish" to below freezing. Mind you, it does NOT go above freezing until around mid-March (literally!). Then over a period of 3 weeks around late March, the ground thaws, and it goes from cool to blistering hot. In August, our average temp is well over 100F. When I came here I counted many costs. But to be truthful, I didn't count the cost of the physical sacrifices- my skin is shot from the sun and wind, my back is shot because of having to sit on the floor most of the time, my hair falls out from stress, and the list goes on. Details.... I think it's a combo deal here. Our own choices (good or bad), the Devil, and God allowing us make those choices for better or worse.
Anyway, time to get on with the next segment! :dance3:

Hope everyone had a lovely weekend. This warrior had a full schedule of teaching, along with fighting the regular enemies of laundry, dishes, dust. Can we ever say we are victorious on these fronts??? Not here in this life, my friends. Not here. Unless you win the lottery and can hire a full-time cleaning person. :lmao: Not likely; we soldier on.
There are respites though. Mine is coming on Sept. 5, 2010! I have great comrades who are joining me, the plans are coming together, I am learning more and more about my field of victory everyday, and the waiting hasn't been too bad.
Now, onto our next Dining Digs. We're going to shake things up a bit here since I"m having a really hard time finding a good balance between too easy and too hard. It's also a challenge to find a way for our illustrious contestants to wager their guesses without being tainted by previous poster's responses. So, here's what we're gonna do.
First, I'm going to start mixing up the CS and TS places. That will add a layer of interest and difficulty. Also, let's try this: When you make your response, highlight your text in white. I know, I know, people can still just highlight your text to see what you've written, so you'll all have to go by the honor system. OK?? Don't go back and peeky-peeky until after you've made your guess.
Let's see how this goes.... here are your clues for Rations Drop #4:
1) It's the only meal on property in which hard-ish alcohol is part of the meal.
2) Kings and princes are there along with the commoners.
3) Flutes and pots might sing for you, but never old bags.
4) Flowers are the main part of the centerpiece of the meal.
Now, tell me where you think the TC3 will enjoy this meal!

Good job on getting those crumpets right!!
Here's the deal with the drinkypoo:
Fonseca Bin 27 Character Port is what is served. I googled Port, cuz, I really had no idea really what port is. I knew it was a type of dessert wine, but here's what I found off Wiki:
"Port is produced from grapes grown and processed in the demarcated Douro region.[4] The wine produced is then fortified by the addition of a neutral grape spirit known as Aguardente in order to stop the fermentation, leaving residual sugar in the wine, and to boost the alcohol content. The fortification spirit is sometimes referred to as Brandy but it bears little resemblance to commercial Brandies. The wine is then stored and aged, often in barrels stored in caves (Portuguese meaning "cellars") as is the case in Vila Nova de Gaia, before being bottled. The wine received its name, "Port," in the latter half of the 17th century from the seaport city of Porto at the mouth of the Douro River, where much of the product was brought to market or for export to other countries in Europe. The Douro valley where Port wine is produced was defined and established as a protected region, or appellation in 1756 — making it the third oldest defined and protected wine region in the world after Tokaj (1730) and Chianti (1716)."
I'll do a more thorough post tomorrow morning on this place, and what we're thinking here. But this should answer your question, meantime. ;)
P.S. Where the heck is everyone??!! There's about 10 regulars who are MIA lately!! YooHOOO!!

Whats the difference between crumpets and scones? Baked and fried? DH makes scones - YUMMMM - if we are really really lucky we can find cinnamon chips and get cinnamon scones.... oh baby!! Are you going to the Grand Floridian High Tea?
This monitor has got to go - I cant read or type in darkest of purple - most everything looks black - but I have 30 min to waste before its time to pick up dd from school!!
Port - YUM I remember the first time dh and I went to a wine tasting (we were newly married) and the guy had just returned from a trip to Spain and bought this Port - it had a lock and key on it!! It wasnt expensive (back then!!) It tasted like raisins, sweet, *snifff ahhhhhh Port!!! :wizard:

This is one of the meals I'm most looking forward to of our whole week of Disney Dining!! In many ways, it is a do-over for me; let me explain...
When I was about 10, my parents took us to the Empress Hotel in Victoria B.C.. It was an elegantly grand setting, full of the air of propiety and tradition. I was in heaven the minute we walked in the door. Alas, it was doomed to be an occassion that begged a re-take, due to the unfortunate behavior of my younger twin sisters. They were naughty beyond belief, embarrassing my parents and I as only spoiled 8 year olds can do, in a place where high class tourists wine and dine. I was mortified and wanted to crawl under the table.
Well, all's been forgiven long ago, but I'll never forget that my one and only experience of trying to have the ultimate high tea experience was wrecked, and I have, ever since then, wanted a chance to savor the ambiance and flavors once again. Here's my chance; I seizing it by the tea cup!
The clues are probably self-explanatory, now that you know where we're going, but if not, let me explain them.
1) The alcohol that is served with one of the meal choices is port. Port, I explained above, is a fortified wine (with a brandy of sorts) that is highly aged and very expensive. I can't wait!!
2) One of the meal choices is called Prince Edward's Tea; another is called the Buckingham Palace. (Posting the menu in a minute)
3) Champagne is served with the lunch called The Grand Tea. From the pictures I see, many people order a glass of champagne with their meal, if they choose a different pre-set meal. Champagne, of course, is served in a "flute". Obviously tea is served in a pot, and with bags. But not here. Tea is served loose with a tea strainer. So, an old bag will never be present.
4) The china pattern used at the GF is called Country Roses. The tea is either served in a pot from this collection or in a press. I'll ask which teas are served with the pretty pot with flowers!!
Okay, onto the food. I posted a picture of the crumpets I made in preparation for this Rations Drop. They are very easy to make, but as with most homemade foods, especially breads, it takes time. Trust me, they are worth it! Give them a try. Crumpets are a lot like an English muffin, but are a bit lighter. They are meant to be eaten warm off the griddle with Devonshire cream and jam. They are fried on a lightly buttered griddle and made with yeast, whereas a scone is leavened with powder or soda and baked. Big difference!
Here's my recipe:
Get 2 or 3 tuna cans ready by cutting out both ends, washing well (let's not be tainting our crumpets, people, with the taste of fish!), and lightly buttering the inside.
Mix the following with a wooden spoon in a mixing bowl:
1 pkg. dry yeast
1 teaspoon sugar
1/4 C. warm water (NOT TOO HOT!)
1/3 C. milk at room temp.
1 egg
4 T. butter, melted
1 C. flour
1/2 t. salt
I always, always, doube, if not triple, this recipe!! There are NEVER leftovers!
After mixed very, very well, your batter should be like a very thick pancake batter. Not runny, but not at all stiff either. It is not bread dough, like you probably know.
Let this sit for about an half hour or an hour, depending on how warm it is in your house. When it is ready to fry it will have bubbles in it and be "spongy".
Now, heat up your griddle on a medium low flame (be careful here, TK had an "unfortunate incident" with the funnel cakes a while back :lmao:) and grease it very lightly with butter. When the griddle is pre-heated set your tuna cans on it and fill each with about 1/4 c of the batter. Gently spread to the edges with a butter knife if needed. When the top looks bubbly and a little bit drier, they are ready to flip. Slip the ring off (I had to use a knife around the edge gently) and flip over with a spatula. They should rise a little as they cook. After about 3 more minutes they are done and ready to devour.
So, you ask, where do I get my title of Tea For 3?! maroo has told me that this is the one meal she is not very excited about at all. That's ok, I completely understand the different strokes for different folks thing. So, this may be one of those times she ventures out on her own. Whatever the case, I'm planning on this one being our elegant soiree just before we go to our MNSSHP party, whatever day that ends up being. I say if we hit tea at 2:00 and leisurely waltz our way through it, we can be over at the party by 4:00. But there may be other "experiences" we'll be toying around with doing here as well. Those are yet to be determined.
I know it's not on the dining plan, so we'll be paying OOP for this extravagent extra. That's okay, too, it's worth it for me to get to have my re-do!
Oh, yes, I almost forgot the menu for those who might want it. I'm only posting the pre-set meals. But almost everything is also available a la carte.

as I mentioned in the linked thread - dd practiced tasting different teas all year - and settled on Darjeeling as her favorite - only its not listed on the menu - but we asked - and they had the tea! :goodvibes

I'd post dh's scone recipe, but no one would make it - just go to Starbucks - but I reccomend their maple pecan scone!!
I would. I don't have Starbucks here. Besides, day old scones suck. No pecans, I'd sub in walnuts, and I do have maple flavoring. ;) Since we have to make our own maple syrup...
(of course it has a ridiculous amount of fat and calories!)
and so your point is.....
Dont tell DD that!! We are considering renting the Sea Racers this trip - and DD and DH both enjoyed the tea!
I've heard loads of guys like the tea thing. Give any man enough port, and he probably could endure any tea time activity. :lmao:
Crumpet? or Scone?
Looks like an odd shaped scone to me. But traditionally scones are triangular, not round. To know for sure, you'd have to taste it. Crumpets taste bready, scones taste crumbly sort of.
gotta run to work!
Thanks for the pix!! They do grow up so fast!
Have a great day at work!

I will. Maybe I'll convince her yet. :confused3 maroo.... Hellooooo.

Ok...
So more confessions...
I was here yesterday. On the DIS, I mean. But I have been hanging out in the "waiting room" over on the "I wish I was a member of the MOM's Panel" thread. We have been "waiting" over there to see if we made it to round 2 of the Panel selections! Needless to say, I didn't make it. But so far over 28 people from the DIS have made it to Round 2. Honestly, I didn't think I would make it. I am not even a Mom. And I don't really expect someone reading a 300 word application to "get" how I plan like one! ;)
I was very sad that I have not seen that KathyRN137 made it. Maybe she did and has just not been on here yet?? Anyway, I really, really thought she would make it! Writing skills, experience planning trips for people with special needs, and passion for Disney...she should have been a shoe in!
But with 20,000 applications (or something like that) and only 200 people making it to round 2...the chances were slim for any of us.
Then last night I was helping Lauren with.... SCIENCE FAIR  Oh...how I can't stand SCIENCE FAIR! And she isn't even close to finished. :sad2: So tonight I get to do it some more. It is due in stages and is in March. :upsidedow
So...that is where I have been.
Now... *deep breath* TEA......
Aw! How horrible. :(
Well, all's been forgiven long ago, but I'll never forget that my one and only experience of trying to have the ultimate high tea experience was wrecked, and I have, ever since then, wanted a chance to savor the ambiance and flavors once again.
Yeah. Uh. I still am really not too fired up about having tea. :upsidedow :flower3:
I am not the princess:. Tea. Nice clothes? I own one dress. For funerals.
My church is very casual. (We can even wear jeans and not feel uncomfortable.) So I don't even really have nice pants. Well...maybe one pair.
And nice dishes. :guilty: With tea and food I can't name. :upsidedow
I am just not a tea person. :cool2:
Am I fired? Can I still come and skip tea?
But I have a feeling...that you are wanting to do more than just tea at the Grand Floridian. :rolleyes1 And I may not want to skip THAT!

Maroo aww :grouphug: I've wanted to apply - but couldnt deal with rejection! Seriously, if KathyRN doesnt make it :confused3 and BOO grrr to Science Fairs!! Dont get me started!!
Tea yes, by all means order what you want - PBJ or ham and cheese - they aim to please - and dd certainly isnt dressing for tea!! She had a sweater on (one that we roll up and keep in my back pack - not fancy! ) and crop shorts... DD got all Ham and Cheese - and only ate half - we took the other half back to the resort!!
Leisa He makes Cinnamon Chip scones - he did make his chips from scratch but that took FOREVER, I found a bag (by the chocolate chips in the store) of cinnamon chips by Hershey's - its hit or miss if a store carries them - the Maple Pecan are what Starbucks makes - I keep trying to get DH to try and make them! (oatmeal, yes, maple flavoring... and its topped with icing YUM!)
The class I subbed for had a student teacher - so ho hum, hard to keep my eyes open! sheesh, if only they would let me go online!! *grin
Well Google is my friend - the maple pecan scones had been missing - turns out Starbucks is trying to make them "healthier" :faint:
but recipe :
Ingredients
FOR THE SCONES:
1 cup oats (quick or old-fashioned)
1 1/2 cups flour
2 tablespoons sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon baking powder
2 tablespoons maple syrup
2 1/2 tablespoons cold butter (small pieces)
1 large egg
1/2 cup half-and-half or heavy cream
1/2-3/4 teaspoon maple extract
2/3 cup coarsely chopped pecans
MAPLE GLAZE:
1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
1/2 teaspoon maple extract
5 teaspoons water
Directions
1. Preheat oven to 425°F.
2. Using a food processor or blender, finely grind oats.
3. In a mixer, mix flour, oats, sugar, salt and baking powder.
4. Add maple syrup and butter and mix well.
5. In a small bowl, beat the egg with the cream and maple extract.
6. Pour the egg mixture into the flour mixture and mix well.
7. Add pecans and mix just to incorporate.
8. Place dough on a floured surface. Knead and pat dough into a 8 to 10 inch circle and cut into 8 wedges.
9. a baking sheet with cooking spray. Place wedges on top and bake for 13 to 15 minutes, or until light brown.
10. Remove scones from oven to wire rack. Let cool about 3 to 5 minutes.
11. Mix glaze ingredients until smooth. Adjust the amount of water to get to the desired consistency. I like the glaze to be rather thick. Spread lots of glaze over each scone and dry about 15 minutes before serving.
(just saw the reviews for this recipe!
Perfect! Followed the recipe and used my food processor and my scone pan. Put toasted walnuts in the icing. Now I can have these at home, if I only had the recipe for the mocha frapp venti-I'd have it made.
and
made a few slight changes and they turned out excellent! I've forever been searching for a Starbuck's maple oat scone recipe that comes close because I'm addicted to the original...and these come about as close as you can get! I used good maple syrup instead of water in the glaze (ended up using at least 1/4 cup with an unsifted 1 1/2 cups powd sugar) and made sure the scones were cool when I glazed them so the glaze stayed thick on top (killed me to wait!). I actually think they're better cool after they've sat for a little while. I also substituted 1/2 cup of whole wheat flour for 1/2 cup of the regular, upped the pecans to 1 cup and added a couple tbs more cream as they were not quite as moist as I would like. I also used a food processor up till adding the pecans (just pulsed the mixture to blend in ingredients then kneaded the pecans in lightly by hand). I've made them 3 times already trying to perfect the recipe and because they are SO GOOD!!
BTW are you still looking for a POR Binder page? I've been searching for something on DISigns found this:

I'm thinking that I may actually not make it all the way through our list of 18 places picked out to eat. Last time around only 4 people voted, which tells me that one of several possibilities might be happening:
1) This is a lame way to pass along pretty useless information anyway.
OR
2) The way I'm doing it, is rather boring.
OR
3) MANY of our regulars are busy, annoyed, camping out somewhere else, etc...
OR
4) There are too many people actually AT or getting ready to go to the World for Free Dining.
Whatever the case, if there are only 4 votes this time around, I'll just be forced to do things the "old fashioned" way and TELL you where we'd like to eat THIS () Sept.! I am having fun though, thinking of ways to challenge those of you who've been there a thousand times, and to make it interesting and informative for the newbies. You guys let me know what you want me to do. Either guess or not. But if you do, highlight in white. I think that was a good thing.
Here are you clues for the next place that we'll most likely gain another pound at. (But who's counting that right?!)
-- The language they speak "here" has only 5 vowels and 8 consanants.
-- The meal is served in courses, one of which is cooked showcase fashion.
-- Both kids and adults alike will enjoy this "festive place".
-- You may run into some unexpected "family" there.
-- A potentially dangerous geographical landform is situated nearby.
Okay, there ya go. I think this one will be easy, but then again, I say that every time. :lmao: I guess, if you're the one in the know, it kinda tends to be that way. Good luck, anyway. Now, go do the right thing. Guess!

I have. 4 times, in fact. It's one of the few places that we can get a direct flight to, so about every 3 years we take advantage of it. It's especially nostaligic to return there, because my youngest daughter was also born there. It's one of my favorite happy places- next to Disney World, of course! It's Thailand! It's lush, jungly, beautiful, everyone's always in a tourist friendly mood, ready with a quick smile and Sa-wa-dee-ka!!
I'm not sure if we've actually come right out and announced the dates of our stay yet, or the whys of those dates. So, in case we haven't here's they are. If I'm having a massive brain fart, and I've already told you all of this, then consider this a re-"fresher".
I'll be leaving for the States on or around August 24th from Blank-a-Stan and spending that first week and a half helping my son get settled into his dorm room, touring his campus, and all that good stuff mothers feel compelled to do. Why, I'm not sure. I guess the answer will come to me when I get my first glimpse of his confused face as we look for his chemistry class.
I digress...
After my motherly duties are thusly fulfilled, I will head out on the 5th (a Sunday) from Nashville to MCO and a week of FREEEEEEEDOM!!! Yeah, I'm pretty excited. I'll check out on the 14th and fly NOT BACK TO CRAP-A-STAN, but to lovely, green, relaxing, Thailand for 2 more weeks of utter awesomeness.
We just found out that we have an all company leadership pow-wow to attend and that children are now welcome. Last month they weren't. Not only that, but now they are saying that the kids may even be "business expensible" which means we could use ministry funds to pay for their tickets. But no one goes to Thailand for meetings (our company often holds these kinds of meetings there because it's cheap and centrally located to a lot of field folks) without tacking on a week of beachy vacation. We are no exception. DH went last year for a hydro-geologist's cont. ed conference, and stayed on Koh Lanta. He loved it. It was pristine beaches, small family run resorts, amazing diving/ snorkelling and all the rest. Did I mention that Thai is probably our favorite ethnic food on earth??
So, there you have it. A week of vacation at WDW, gets plussed overnight to 3 weeks of split stay greatness. After all is said and done, I'm looking most forward to going ANYWHERE that has cold Cokes with ice.

When my first born went to college - I was all matter of fact - not once did I get 'verKlempt" BUT.... he got special permission to be late - he was climbing a mountain (Scout Ranch Philmont) I litarly took him off the train at a stop - drove him home, he washed, we packed the car and then headed down to his college -
we get there - his dorm floor was waiting for him before beginning the meeting - BEST TIME EVER to get to a College Move in - the whole floor met us at the car and unloaded it - NO WAITS for elevators, or no waits for the dolly thingy - AWESOME... we get to his room, I do the "MOM" thing, and unpack the lamp - get it set up, and then start to make the bed...
DS mortified "MOM, MOM..." one of the dorm kids said "hey,no worries, you werent here earlier, EVERY MOM does that!" :rotfl2: So they left me to the bed making and went for the meeting -
I then went to the hotel, next morning met up with son, he had his schedule, and I did help him navigate to his class - (to be fair it was across from the bookstore) then I went in to the bookstore and bought all his books!!
Easiest transition for DS ever!! BEST memory for me as a mom!!
Sooooo - do share with your DS "all moms make the bed - for the first time" I can share DS' email for confirmation!!
Also do not listen to Susie Boguss' http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u9jaTliUSBA "Letting Go" I think it will be worse when DD goes away... (she's my last, and the song is more for a mother/daughter!!)
Post Count I also havent subscribed to any threads Leisa that's how I do it too - but to get the counts of everyone on the thread - you go over to the right side of where Tim posted the screen cap - and click on one of the first posted by thingy's and a box will pop up showing all who post here and how many posts they made.... (clique thread would do this and someone would email lost posters!!)

See all the way to the left there are the orange envelopes (to the left of the polls or smilies) ... some have mail coming out of them, some have an arrow. The one's with an arrow are the one's you have posted in. If you put you cursor over the one with an arrow and leave it there for 2 seconds another box should open up and tell you how many posts you have in the thread.
Unless this is only a mac thing???? I'll have to check it on my PC later.:confused3

Thailand looks awesome! That site actually looks a LOT like a place where I went to camp in Arkansas...believe it or not. The water is not quite that pretty, but the rock formations are very close...at least in those pics. No pretty beaches, though.

Click anywhere on your desktop, then click on GO at the top of the screen
GO>Ulilities>Grab
Grab should be open in your dock. Click on it then look up to the top of the screen. click on Capture.. it gives you a few options whether you want the whole screen or a particular page etc. It will save it to your documents. You can change the format you save it in as well..
Check it out.. it is a cool feature!

I have NO idea what ya'll are talking about- seriously, you lost me about 1/2 a page ago... consider me dense. Nuff said. Regardless, I don't subscribe. I don't want a bunch of notices coming in every 5 minutes. I just go down the list and check the ones with checks. Easy.
BTW. great going away to college story. THAT I can get. I'm really not sure I'm ready. It makes me feel old, and I will make his bed. The only consolation is that I still have an 8 year old that I can still snuggle. :cloud9:

I honeymooned in Arkansas. Yes, I confess, we hillbillied it in Arkansas. It was great! And yes, it did look just like that with all the limestone. Beautiful!

Yeah, Thailand does have a disgusting dark side!
We have seen more than our fair share of men (who know better) with little boys, young (like 15) girls, you name it. GROSSES ME OUT!!!!!!!
There are lots of groups working with the problem, and doing rescue ministry- our group included. Personally, I could never do that! It would just piss me off everyday.
But, if you go south, to the islands, there's much, much less of that filth. I see enough wife beating, alcolholism, domestic incest, and all that crap here, that I need to be totally away from it to really get that rest.

Altho I'm also guilty of only going to page 1 to look for all the arrows of the threads I've posted in - and if they arent on page 1- I move on!
(oh and if a moderator determines your trip or pre trip report is all chatter, and not on topic - they move it - or remove it!)

I have to sub or I'd miss updates in a big way, for me it's easier than scrolling down because really, if you update on a day that a lot of other threads are updating, you could be on page 2 in a heartbeat! I just sub with no email updates and then bookmark my subscription page.
What CS new policy?
Of course the downfall of that is I can miss new ones when they start.
I've actually never seen a thread moved, I'm sure it could happen but there is a lot of chatter in a TR, and PTR, isn't that the point?
I went to the dining threads (all 3 or 4) and couldn't find what you are talking about... the CS policy?? Where/what are talking about?

I'm confused as well. I'll tell you this...if we are trying to hold 6 seats while someone is in line getting alll the food and a CM takes empty chairs away...it'll be ugly.
I mean really, are they going to make you get up? Steal the chairs back? not really sure how they can enforce that. We always seem to have a hard time finding CS seating anyway, hard to imagine it being worse than it is.

Okay, I found something - in case anyone else is still wondering the details were about the 'new cs policy' that Sandy321 was talking about:

Sorry - I actually worked today - didnt mean to leave y'all hangin!!
Sleeping Booty posted the article that got a lot of Dis'ers panties in a knot for sure (just check into the Disabilty board if you have doubts!!) BUT, like the mod of the boards are quick to point out - the policy is only effect at the parks BUSIEST of times - and then - what happens is all these tables are filled with "squatters" so as you with food look and search, all you see is a table with 1 squatter -
and Disney figured out - if they have a CM seating patrons, guests, then by the time you get thru that long line (BUSIEST time of year only!) there will be a seat for you - the average time to eat a CS meal is 20 min (not me, but those kids in school only get 20 min!) and it can take 30 min to get thru the line -
hence the policy - tables for everyone is the theory!!
but the panic!! oh my... you'd think that people wouldnt know what they could do - I'll still send my dd and dh to a side while I go thru the line ALONE (thank you very much) and then we'll all meet up!!
btw - this makes far more sense than the way we currently do it - DH finds a table and then I ask dd to find him - we are grateful for cell phones - seriously that Pizzafari even with a cell phone I didnt think I'd ever find the man!!

First off, you were righty-o on your guess!! Congrats!
Also, thank you for that link. However, I'm not sure I'm altogether happy with this AT ALL. I can totally see where this is leading- tips at the CS places; the first step toward what they are doing at The Pepper Market. It will be very interesting to see where this all goes, and how it pans out in the end.
Sorry - I actually worked today - didnt mean to leave y'all hangin!!

I see your point. And in theory I agree. But it seems like if there is truly a squatter then there could be ONE CM who patrols for that sort of thing, or is available to ask. At the same time, though, I'm leery of adding a hostess at CS places- it may be that we will be tipping another $5 per meal for someone to bring you to your seat and get you a drink.
Whether helpful or not, having a PTR going makes the time pass infinitely more quickly, and yes, I do think a lot of info on them is very helpful. I certailnly wouldnt' be going to O'hana or Flame Tree if it weren't for PTRs/TRs!! And I would def. NOT have tried Hoop last time- which was a major highlight for us.
I love to see other folks plans, and they are constantly giving me ideas on timing of things, little tricks and tips of more efficient touring etc....
But the biggest bennie is that I've made some AMAZING lifer friends here. THere are some fabulous folks here that are seriously VERY friendly and, well, just fun to hang out with!!

Wait til Monday for your installment. I get back on on Monday. Don't you hate when your syntax works out like that, so you have to put two of the same words together? That that works that way a lot too. Never mind.
Apparently the squatters gotta go. But more likely than not, most of those who appear to be squatters are probably waiting for their cholesterol laden troughs of processed "food".

I can't say I do it on purpose but at Cosmic Ray's, for example. I got Juliana's and my food. found a seat then I went to get Melody's from a different window. So they could kick them out? Or since they are eating they are fine?

In all fairness to the "new policy", there probably are some who would rather sit in a CS place rather than on a bench somewhere? For what reason, I have no idea. :confused3 Shadier? Frankly, I would rather sit in a more picturesque venue than a busy place like Cosmic Rays or Pecos Bills.

Dearies- We had a 100% accuracy rate on this Ration Drop. You are all way too smart, and my clues were way too lame. I think it also helped that everyone and their mother (for those in the "Let's-make-a-major-mistake-and share-our-vacation-with-our-parents-Club") has eaten at:
O'hana!!!!
I will spare you all the details of this place, as you've seen them a thousand times already. Let's suffice it to say, I am pretty well stoked up about eating shrimp, and that tantalizing salad. I think I've said it here, oh, about 5 times, that a Lapu Lapu has my name written all over it!!! I'll say it again, if you don't mind. Yes, I understand that it probably has about as much alcohol and fruit juice as Tinkerbell can pee, but I'm doing it anyway; it looks that refreshing!
If you like reading food reviews, a good one on O'hana is over on Great Biscuit's TR. Go take a look- he gave it a double thumbs up.

Grammar Geek Extraordinaire, at your service.
you can be the grammar geek, it will make me feel better when I techno babble.
Well, if that weren't enough posts by me in a row, I'll go ahead and make it an odd 3. I love to hear myself babble. :lmao:
I was trying to get to Rations Drop #6 today, but am really running out of time. We'll see how the evening goes... if not, Monday AM, my time, will have to do.
Neither I
My Mother
My Mother in law
My Step Mother in law
My Ex Mother in law
have eaten at Ohana.
Though I hope to rectify that for at least 2 out of 5, possibly 3.
Yeah, I know it's a rare occurance, but we all worked pretty hard today, and are needing a bit of some down time. DH is on the laptop buying silver :confused3 and I'm wasting more of my time here. Oh wait, I meant, being a good steward of my money and friendships!! Planning is a good thing, maintaining relationships is good too! :lmao:
Enjoy those rolls!! Close your eyes and pretend you can hear the Castle Rag playing softly on Main St.! :cloud9:
Buying silver huh?
I can't believe you were online this morning and I missed it!
See you monday!!!!!!!

I'm here!!!!!
Sorry for the long hiatus!
This whole moving/fixing up a house thing has just thrown my already chaotic life into a complete tailspin. And it seems like everything happens at once.
If it makes you feel any better, I have not posted on my own PTR and I leave for my trip in 12 days and am totally not prepared!
But I am back, caught up and ready to post away! BTW, if we are operating on the honor system, I knew two of the five ration drops so can I please play and have two points? :flower3:
If any of you are reading my pretty mcuh non-existent PTR, I plan to post tomorrow. Since my trip is in 12 days :scared1: my PTR should be pretty hopping if I can stay on top of it until trip time.
Night all!

First of all, good morning to everyone!! It was a very full weekend, but really, really great!!! The party was super fun at church, and I think I understood more of the sermon than I have in a while. They served liver fried liver and potatoes, which I alone in my family enjoyed. But the best part was that my alcoholic neighbor who we've been praying for for (there's that tricky syntax I was telling you about again, Tim) a long time came with us!!! He is my son's best friend's dad. If there was ever a faithful friend commited to praying for someone, it is my 11 year old son!! Never doubt the effectiveness of a little boys pleas- learning disabled or not!!!
Anyhow, we had one of the Peace Corps guys over for pizza and Settlers last night too, and I must grudgingly announce that with his first game he soundly kicked our butts. Next time, we'll offer him more wine when we play. :lmao:
Quilting was 100% better this weekend; if you'll recall last weekend only 1 lady showed up, this weekend it was 2!! :rotfl2: All's good, though. We had a nice time, and I only had to lug out one of the machines.
So, there's my weekend update!
Now onto the clues for Rations Drop #6-
The grand original that I was modeled after was destroyed by fire.
Mr. Sanders, I don't think, has ever visited this establishment.
My neighbor sits squarely in Mudville!
Although they live nearby, Ol' Smiley and Ginger have never come to visit.
Again, flowers are the very centerpiece of this dining experience.
I imagine this one will be quite a bit harder, but I was having a really difficult time with the clues for this one. Hopefully not too hard for some of you to get it, though.
Now, on with your guesses, highlighted in white, please. You have 48 hours to stew about it.
Editted to add: OK, exactly WHAT is that going on with my ticker??!!!

Today I got a package. It is not everyday that ANY mail arrives for us; in fact, we only get mail about once a month! But, by any account, today's package was extra, extra special!!! It was MICKEY MAIL- well sorta. It's as close to the real deal as I'm ever going to get over here, and honestly, this package was even better!
Because in this package was the ribbon and lime green craft foam that I needed to make these:
http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll305/All7OfUs/miscfromcamera124.jpg
http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll305/All7OfUs/maroosLGMH.jpg
I can't say enough thank you's to eandesmom!!! That was so, so kind of her to shop and send the ribbon and foam on, so I could finish up these little projects. You're great!!!
I"m not totally satisfied with maroo's version. I'm going to do it again, and see if I can get the freehand writing a little more evenly spaced. But the shape is good, so I'll use the same template.
Now, maroo, if you're still with us, I need to know if you want it embellished. Do you want the orange stitching? Purple ribbon? I wanted mine to use the colors of the Halloween party, so I chose orange and purple. But, I can get any color of embroidery thread. Not so much the ribbon. But that can be added later, if you want it.
I doubt ThePreachersWife will want one, but I can ask. Honestly, I'd have to use a microscope to get all that on it anyway. :lmao: How I'm ever going to get all that onto our window decorations I have no idea!! :rotfl2:
Anyway, thanks once again to Cynthia!!! LOVE YOU!

First off, congrats on your move!! I hope this new home is the home of your every dream!! :woohoo: I do understand how moving can completely mess up one's groove- we do it every 3 years. ;) Exciting, yes; discombobulating, you bet!!
I am very, very glad you are back! Actually, I have checked your PTR many times, and have noticed not a lot going on there, but figured your were busy, finding just the right place for each little thing.
HA!!! Of course we noticed you were MIA. You funny girl!! And honestly, I can't figure out WHY I messed up and didn't see your post!! This morning, I was so excited about putting up my 2 posts, I spaced it. My bad! Will you ever forgive me?? I know what it's like to get neglected on a thread. :lmao:
Yes, I'll go find my little point sheet, and make sure you duly have 2 points!!! Very good work. You are in fact, only 1 point off the lead right now!!! There is though, a 3 way tie for 1st- all with 3 points.
So, post on, and I"ll go check yours too, now.

I'm not sure what is up with the ticker but it looks like all the mickeypath ones are disabled, you aren't alone. I'd imagine someone has asked the moderators already but it appears to be DIS wide. Guess mickeypath is not allowed now? No idea.
I'm glad you had such a lovely weekend but BLEH to liver and onions. Sorry I missed you last night, I crashed relatively early, we watched our Sunday AR and then read a little bit and I was out! Slept like a log too, always a blessing when that happens. Busy weekends will do that to you.
Oh my word, I am glad we are up to 48 hours, I am going to need it for this one!
Anyway, thanks once again to Cynthia!!! LOVE YOU!

Ah well, I'm still having a great time learning all I can about where I"m going! :goodvibes, and it's still fun seeing your guesses, too.

I must be a bad guesser - I know I guessed the Tea - but apparantly it was Ohana? :confused3
We've eaten there 3 times - and each time was different - and they have a different menu now - from our Sept visit a while back!! I have the most fun when we go with lots of people!!

Hmmm, so is using Google cheating? Because I was at a total loss on these clues, until I googled Mr Sanders - and then I felt stupid because that is from one of my favorite childhood movies, and I should have known that! So based on that reference, my guess is Crystal Palace.
Some of the rest of those clues are still throwing me off, but I feel confident with the one above combined with a couple others, and I don't feel like googling anymore right now. :upsidedow

The baby is INCREDIBLY small! My first was born at 33 weeks. This one couldn't have been in the cooker for more than 30. But breathing well, eating well, and heart sounds good. I think she has a good chance. Now we need to pray for this couple. They are locals, not foreigners. They are having a big advertising spree encouraging Stani's to adopt, but fail to mention that it still costs a lot and is rank with bribery and mountains of paperwork.

I cant imagine the tiny baby - Bless him, and the families - it such a different life - one I cant imagine, but I certainly can lift up in prayer!!
Maroo continued prayers for Lauren, I read your post - I'm glad you can go with them to Lauren's appointment - just make sure you find a way to bolster you! I was listening to the radio about the sleep apnea - the CPap - remember when I said if it goes that way for you - you can make sure you have different options!! That's what they were talking about on the radio!! There is a hospital like tube that fits in the nose that's less invasive that seems to work for many!! :goodvibes
Leisa I am so not healthy - and I'm stalled trying to move forward - I can see the goal, and i can see what it takes, but I'm frozen, I cant seem to move.... I have to go to the laundromat and take back some items... but here I sit, ignoring it all!

Well, I was an English major in college so I hope I am a tiny bit of a literary guru - at least enough of one to catch the Mudville reference. In fact, that was the one that gave me the answer right away. The fire I thought I knew about but that was the one I had to google to be sure.

Hey guys.
No news on the sleep junk. Although I was at the doctor's building all morning long and it must be steel reinforced, because even with 3G coverage, I could not get a signal AT ALL. I don't know how I lived without a cell phone all those years.
The news about Lauren was worse than we could have imagined. Besides telling her she would probably have to have surgery, they also seemed to imply that her disease is not CP (which we have known) but that is a progression of her disease. And he expects more progression and for her to be able to do less. They are now set up to do heart studies, because he believes the disease she does have will cause her heart to deteriorate.
Lisa's stress level is above what anyone can be expected to handle at this point.
And William is no better. :sad2:
Please pray for all of us.

Maroo it sounds like you all are on a very low point - :grouphug: Now more than ever, you cling to your faith, you question your faith, and you rely on God to help - when we are at our lowest, its time to start looking for God Sightings, He is there, He is showing Himself - look for Him - as we gather together, as one to lift you all up in prayer, knowing and Believing where 2 or more gather, He is here - and He does hear our prayers!!
Psalm 27:1
The LORD is my light and my salvation;Whom shall I fear? The LORD is the strength of my life;Of whom shall I be afraid?

Good Morning All,
I just made my morning java and am ready to reveal (not that it's going to be surprise for anyone) the latest round of Rations Drop Fun.
However, first I want to add my plea for you all to continue to lift this family. I have met Lauren, and have to say she is a very well-mannered woman, who is eager to do her best in everything she sets her hand to. Although her body does not cooperate, she is cheerful (most of the time) and sweet- a testimony to all of us. It breaks my heart to hear about this downturn in her health!
Now, onto brighter things. The Lord tells us to delight in life, even in the midst of heartache and turmoil. He is with us, and promises to never leave or forsake us!
I personally delight in Disney World. I love almost everything about it; I can do without the guests who leave their trash on tables or who treat the CMs like dirt, though. I've never been to the Crystal Palace, but have seen MANY great reviews about getting onto Main Street early (remember that whole bit about skipping- I'm thinking this will be my best chance at doing just that, without looking like the complete dweeb I really am) to take empty park pictures, and pigging out on yummy things. However, to be really honest, I am NOT a breakfast eater. I'm simply not very hungry until around 10:30 or 11:00. So, I think Disney will be getting the better end of this bargain. Also, as I've said before, character meals just aren't my thing. They are super for families with kids (we did Akershus last time), but not for me. I'm in it for the early entry, and the coffee I don't have to make, well, ok, and for breakfast casserole, which I've heard is fabulously nommy.
So, onto the clues:
1) The Crystal Palace was originally built for The Great Exhibition in London, but was destroyed by a fire in 1936. There is a quite extensive article on Wiki, if you're really interested. It does have quite a long and interesting history, including the remains of it having to be razed in 1941 becauset the British thought it would be a beacon for incoming German aircraft. (You didn't think you'd get away with no war history, did you??!?- This is the TC3 Report, you know.)
2) Mr. Sanders having never been here was the clue that gave it all away. Next time, I'll be more careful. But for those of you who didnt' get it, Mr. Sanders is the name written above Winnie the Pooh's door in the Hundred Acre Wood. Curiously, the books never tell us who Mr. Sanders is. Of couse, Crystal Palace is the breakfast hood of Pooh and gang.
3) The Mudville reference comes from the (long) poem that Casey's Corner is taken from and themed after. It's a delightful poem that you can find here:
CASEY AT BAT (http://ops.tamu.edu/x075bb/poems/casey.html)
4) If you listen closely to your skipper in Jungle Cruise, they will mention the names of the 2 crocodiles- Ol' Smiley and Ginger. Remember, Ginger Snaps!! :lmao: Of course, they live right around the corner in the Nile River.
5) Lastly, the Crystal Palace sports a huge topiary of Pooh and Gang in the center of the restaurant. I can imagine it's scent, as I see the trip reports with pictures of this spectacle made of thousands of baby roses and other flowers!
So, there you have it. Rations Drop #6. Jordy, I"m afraid you were not correct this time around. Everyone else, you did great! Keep up the good work and Google on... :rotfl2:
Next up... The Next Round!

Actually for me, the fire gave it away.
I couldn't get past Col. Sanders so that one threw me a bit....:rotfl:
Lauren, Lisa, William and Mr. Lisa, and Maroo are in my prayers.
I'm simply not very hungry until around 10:30 or 11:00.
Me either. I prefer to subside on caffiene alone until about 11. Which does make a morning workout rather difficult. That said, I ADORE breakfast foods. I just prefer to eat them closer to what might be considered brunch.
However, I think you have hit on something!
Skipping!
Skipping down main street!
I wanna skip! Enough to get in the park before it opens?
Hmmn.
Maybe!
