Homonyms are killers! The one that people seem to use incorrectly most often that drives me the craziest are effect and affect.
Yes, yes, and amen to "affect" and "effect"!!!! Verb vs. noun .... :confused3
Not hard.

I hope I'm not making you guys nauseous with my spelling and poor writing. :rotfl: I've never claimed to be a writer though. LOL

I'm usually OK with my homonyms though. I hate the their -vs- there.

I'll try to be extra careful when writing on this PTR!

6. I have a cough that is always with me....especially when I am physically active. It drives everyone nuts but I can't do anything about it so just know that it is part of me and my "thorn in the flesh" that makes me unique.

If you haven't done so already, you may want to consult with a doctor about this since it's a fairly common sign of asthma. (They didn't used to understand the coughing presentation, but, they've gotten much better in recent years.)

I know how frustrating this can be when surrounded by strangers in an elevator who are wearing perfume that is triggering my asthma and causing me to cough. But, it doesn't sound like something that should interfere with your TC3 touring.

I'm sure we'd all be very interested in your plans. Go for it, girl!

I want proof!! maroo, did you eat them??

I knew you would appreciate the affect/effect thing!
I think I will try my hand at a PTR/TR - I would love to start it tonight but I have about 18,000 other things to do unless I say the heck with pulling papers for the mortgage guy/Daisy/soccer/school/bill stuff and DIS instead.

Oh my goodness! I would go on the whole "you don't even know me" thing, but it really seems like that doesn't apply on this trip. :lmao:

PreachersWife, just wanted to say Hello from another school board member. I'm in my 2nd year of a 3 year term. Are you enjoying being on the board?

I love working on the board but I have only officially been a voting member for 2 months! Our first meeting is next week:) Any advise?

and All7OfUs - Just wanted to let you know I LOVE your writing! You are hilarious! Also, you are the cause of many glares from DH as he tries to sleep and I'm :rotfl2::lmao::rotfl: while reading your PTR. WHEN (notice I didn't say IF) you complete this PTR you should all get your name in Guiness or something! It has to be some sort of record!
1. I am ADDICTED to the DIS. I know this now because I have been having withdrawals form the DIS during my hiatus. I even dreamed about the DIS last night. And I am not planning to try to even curb this addiction. :sad2: So there. :rotfl:

2. I am MESSY. If left unchecked, I won't make my bed. I leave my stuff laying around. I am messy. But, I have also discovered this week that I can be a neat freak. I didn't mean as in spelling. I wonder sometimes, if people can grasp basic concepts like 90 days for ADRs means that you won't get in anywhere without one; or like NO, you can't use your re-fillable mug in the parks; and yes, Hillary, you made an @$$ out of yourself again by speaking too quickly.

I hope my silence is not deafening over here! :)

Well, of course, we really miss you! You are the life of the party, girlfriend!

Alas, no deal for us, back to plan A.

I will second the motion; all who care to come along are welcome. If we get a few more folks, we'll be setting up some sort of meet event- meal?, dinner show?, pre-Illuminations meet? It'll be fun! We can all salute one another, march around with kazoos playing the Battle Hymn of the TCGazillion, and talk about how much we've annoyed each other with our confessed idiosyncrasies!

YOU are a woman in good company- or is that A good company?!

Ask LeeAnn, I am a slob at heart. I'm getting better in my "wiser years" (:rolleyes1), and now border on being OCD about certain rooms being tidy (could have something to do with having 5 kids :confused3). But generally, I do not put clothes away (they are usually left in a heap at the bottom of the bed- where they keep me cozy at night). I have also been known to leave my quilting fabric and tools all over the place, and it all graces the floor for weeks. I call it creative-process chaos.

Now, I will counter warn you maroo, that LeeAnn is THE most tidy neaty that I know. Her house is over-the-top spotless, and I am shamed each time I visit. She is my clean house idol!

3. I need to SLEEP. I have experienced what it looks like when I don't sleep much...and I have determined that I must sleep. I normally try to relax some on vacation anyway (ahem hot tub). :cloud9: But with all of this talk about making rope drop AND staying up til 2AM...well...I just need to remind my pre-trippie friends what happens when I don't get my beauty rest....(see #4)....:rotfl:

So, we will try to keep his appearances to a minimum on this trip!
Study your agenda and take notes on any questions you have before hand. Also, are you familiar with Robert's Rules of Order? Do you know if your board practices it? If they do, it might be helpful to familiarize youself with the Rules. Here's a good summary website to check out. (http://www.robertsrules.org/rulesintro.htm) Otherwise, just have fun and vote the way your instinct tells you to. We have a meeting next Thursday and I've heard it could get ugly (voting on Superintendent contract and one very vocal board member does not approve of what we're offering). I am nervous!

You certainly wouldn't want an overabundance of Grumpy Butt appearances, but I think everyone is entitled to at least a handful of GBMs (that's Grumpy Butt Moments, :rotfl: I've taken the liberty of acronymizing :confused3 is that a word :confused3 it!
Study your agenda and take notes on any questions you have before hand. Also, are you familiar with Robert's Rules of Order? Do you know if your board practices it? If they do, it might be helpful to familiarize youself with the Rules. Otherwise, just have fun and vote the way your instinct tells you to. We have a meeting next Thursday and I've heard it could get ugly (voting on Superintendent contract and one very vocal board member does not approve of what we're offering). I am nervous!
Great advise! I am in the process of reading Robert's Rules and we do practice them. Yikes, contracts can be sticky!!! We are voting on a charter school application. Never a dull moment!

Maroo Starts Her Confessions...

These will have to come slowly...as I don't have much time on the computer these days...but here goes...

My friends (Rachel and Joyce) are VERY neat people. OCD honestly...and I am trying very hard to keep all of my stuff neat and clean and orderly and so far have done a good job. For two days. ::yes:: So, we will see if I can make it 7 or 8 or 9 or however long our trip is going to be!

I think we all qualify as addicted to the DIS though darn life has gotten in the way of my DIS time lately. And now you have me wanting to check out podcasts and other stuff!

You can be the one who answers the wake up call in the morning- cuz we probably WON"T!! :lmao::rotfl2: But once we're up , watch out! We move like the wind. Especially after our coffee!

I can confirm that Maroo can be your wake-up call. Guess which two ladies were the first in line to go into the Magic Meets ballroom?

More Confessions from Maroo....

4. I can be GRUMPY. Really. I can get a little grumpy on long trips. In fact, on my last trip...I had a couple of grumpy spells...:rolleyes1

And for those of you guys that missed those grumpy moments...

Meet GRUMPY:
http://i460.photobucket.com/albums/qq324/mblaine/Sarah%20Goodbye%20Trip/epcot/SarahDWTrip496-1.jpg

We found our grumpy mascot on...well...this guys...uh.... rear end.

http://i460.photobucket.com/albums/qq324/mblaine/Sarah%20Goodbye%20Trip/epcot/SarahDWTrip496.jpg

So...during the grumpy moments that just may happen on this trip...well, you can be assured that Grumpy Butt may just make an appearance on a TR when writing about said grumpy moment.

So, we will try to keep his appearances to a minimum on this trip!

The Grumpy Butt is back!

Did someone say hot tubbing????? I forgot to let you know that I will hot tub day or night. That is my favorite thing to do right before bed. The hotter the better:):cheer2:

You and Maroo should get along great then! (Though based on her past history you may not want to go to the hot tub with her!)

AH! GB! Let's keep him in the hot tub as much as possible- when it's not in drain-down mode. :sad2:

Sleep!? We'll let you sleep as much as you want, but you may miss out on who knows what...We'll even try to be very quiet when sneaking in at night. ;)

Study your agenda and take notes on any questions you have before hand.

You guys are great! Thanks for the, sometimes very unpleasant, work you do! Keep it up!

Maroo, you may need to think of a back up plan for relaxation while on this trip. Because your history with hot tubs is . . . . er . . . well, "not so clean' shall we say? :rotfl2: Have you considered taking up Yoga?

You certainly wouldn't want an overabundance of Grumpy Butt appearances, but I think everyone is entitled to at least a handful of GBMs (that's Grumpy Butt Moments, :rotfl: I've taken the liberty of acronymizing :confused3 is that a word :confused3 it! Now that I think of it, GBMs sounds kinda gross so let's hope it doesn't pop up too often in your TR!

Yeah, hottubbing may be dangerous, depending on the company you keep!

Oh, the possibilities with "GBM". They are endless. Let's just say that we'll reserve the bathroom for any of those GBM's okay. Do we need to adjust our Constitution again??

Great advise! I am in the process of reading Robert's Rules and we do practice them. Yikes, contracts can be sticky!!! We are voting on a charter school application. Never a dull moment!

I think they should be using the TC3 Constitution instead. It's a very reliable document, sure to bring peace and tranqulity!! Contracts? No problem! YOu could have Google and Skype work something out for you- I"m not sure how binding it would be, but it would be interesting.

I never would have guessed it would be Lauren!! who was messy!

THen it's unanimous, we'll head for the hot tub after the parks; then run as necessary! :lmao:

Glory be! The REAL maroo is back- sassy and all!

We may be sitting out by the pool with a deck of cards or the Scrabble tiles, we may have to go to DTD late at night. And I have heard that most of the bars at each resort have some very, very good entertainers at night. Without giving away our plan A, I will say that the one at "our" resort looks like he's very funny, and worth going to see at least once. Hmmm... other stuff? Dinner shows? Walks with the camera?

How's that for some late night ideas?

You can substitute the real GB's picture (I"ll bet Great Biscuit (see I spelled it right) ears are a burnin' right about now, wondering why we are slandering him so) for all our grumpy moments. (I mean that guy at work- not our beloved GB from here) Hopefully there will be very few of those moments, though. As lovely as these late night plans sound (I do love board games, card games, etc), you guys do realize that some mornings being at rope drop means leaving the hotel at 7:15am. Which means preparing for the that day either the night before or that morning. Which does not leave much time for sleep. Which according to Maroo she needs to function. And we all know a non-functioning Maroo = GB! :rotfl:

We need to figure out who is the Photoshop master out of the group. That way when the unexpected, ahem, bottom or arm flab gets in a otherwise great picture, it can be easily taken out. You don't want to trash a great picture due to some unforeseen arm flab!:rotfl2:

Or do as Kelly Clarkson does..... just get someone to airbrush everything!!:lmao:

Definitely the night before. After hot tubbing. IF it's still full.

We can't be having any non-functioning maroo, so we may have to make some concessions; maybe we'll have to sleep in a day or two.

Maroo, you and I are sympatico.

I need my sleep.

Lots of sleep. Ever since I had mono in high school, I require copious amounts of sleep. That doesn't mean I can't wake up early, but it does mean somewhere, a compensation needs to be made.

Or, I may, as well, turn into Grumpy Butt. Perhaps Grumpy Butt II. Especially if I'm tired AND hungry. Lethal. Lethal, I say.

But that you are all airing the dirty laundry now, because as long as you know before a trip, you'll know what to expect. :thumbsup2

It is funny. . .I was listening to Lou Mongello's audio guides today (the ones we got at Magic Meets Maroo) and it made me think how much I would like to go to the parks some time without the kid or when she is much older and just stroll and enjoy the details of the parks and the hidden gems without having the agenda of rushing to x ride or meeting x character. CS to AKL to AKL Savannah (and we have switched dates 3 times)

So...are you all still with me??

Hmmm. . .the hurricane thing is a little scary! I can relate to the resort changing. I am not a resort changer but I do obsess over park days and ADRs and times.

Grand Gathering anyone??

Ok...with all of this talk of people joining our little platoon...I just have to give a couple more confessions. I figure if you can hang through all of these confessions, then maybe you should join us! ;)

7. I have an affinity for hurricanes. My friends give me a really hard time. I have gotten 2 people already this morning blaming me for the storms at sea! :sad2: Maybe it is my obsession with hurricanes (which started before Katrina and has stayed strong since then) that makes everyone associate them with me? Or maybe it is because my friend Sharon and I tend to attract them each time we try to schedule a visit. Either way, Sharon is NOT invited on this trip! But the rest of you guys can come.

8. I am a resort changer. There is a thread...support group...(more like an enabling group, but that is a whole different post :rolleyes1)...over on the resort thread for people like me. We change resorts over and over...

We can open a little office in a strip mall for your recruiting purposes if need be. My unsuspecting soldier wannabes waltz in all the time, lured in by promises of adventure, and a guaranteed job. Hmmmm...

I have actually worried about hurricanes a little, (Not a lot! A little.) up until now. Now I'm terrified. I remember your telling me the fiasco of Sharon and your's fruitless attempts at meeting up. I wonder if I should add insurance to my trip package??

Changing resorts would STRESS ME OUT! I want to know all about the one I end up going to, and follow the threads about it for a long time before I actually get there. But then again... what maroo hasn't told you, is that she has about 4 million ideas on how to get a screaming deal, and unfortunately this often requires being open to resort changes. Hmmm, what to do, what to do??

that's nice

Maybe you guys can get some of those campaign signs that they stick into people's lawns. That would be cool! OR you can go all out and rent billboard space! :rotfl:

I think there are some companies that offer travel insurance that are cheaper than Disney's... plus you get more/better coverage.

Leisa... I think you are in good hands with Maroo. Maybe you can pay for a motel and end up in the Ritz! Let Maroo work her MaGiC!!!! Just as long as the Ritz isn't full when you arrive there and you are forced to go to the motel that only has 1 double bed in a smoking room with a shower that only has cold water.:rolleyes1

Yes, we could also rent that skywriter and advertise over EPCOT, and TV time, or better yet, have a town hall meeting. Oh wait, we don't want violence, do we? No, wait again, we are soldiers, we are trained to do this.

I will have to look into this insurance thing. But you know what?? This is my ONLY opportunity to go, it's not like I'm going to choose other dates. Even if it's a cat. 5, I'm going! I don't think they are going to cancel dinner at O'Hana.

I know I"m in good hands; and being that she's the only one with credible math skills, then she's the main deal maker.

WAIT A SEC... you guys are going to eat at 'Ohana???????????? I'm jealous!!!! LOL:lmao:

I just googled travel insurance and found this site.http://www.insuremytrip.com/hurricane.html I never use travel insurance but I think if there was a hurricane they will pay your flight changes and if you couldn't get out of Orlando they might even put you up in a room. I'm not positive about all these 'claims' but it might be worth looking into.

I don't know up to what point you can add the insurance. Maybe you can wait till a few days before to see if there is going to be any storms in FL. Once again, I'm not too sure about this.

Well, I didn't exactly say that we WERE eating there, but it would be a place I would definitely like to try. (You are too good at reading between the lines, my friend! ;))

Thanks for the travel insurance info. Definitely going to check that out. With more hurricanes predicted, and maroo's track record, we may need it.
I am one of those weird people who does read the small print, so I'll make sure about when you can add, and when it's too late.

Jeepers maroo! I can't stand sleeping in the cold! (You'd think I'd get used to it where gets to 30 degrees below freezing in the winter) Sheesh! where ARE you going?! :faint: You make me laugh!

Uh...I think we need to vet these candidates...and strip malls may not be the best place to find soldiers that would fit into our little group? :rotfl:

I have actually worried about hurricanes a little, (Not a lot! A little.) up until now. Now I'm terrified. I remember your telling me the fiasco of Sharon and your's fruitless attempts at meeting up. I wonder if I should add insurance to my trip package??

Aw! Don't worry about hurricanes! IF we had one (which I highly doubt! Look at the history of WDW with hurricanes - they don't close the parks often and just put you in your room and it rains and is windy...no big). The people on the FL coast actually evacuate TO WDW!

The only problem would be if something like Faye came through...and it just rained for 5 days...that would stink.

But we would still have fun!!!

See TK's trip report! She describes beautifully how much fun you can have in the rain! We will just bring board games and enjoy some down time in the room if we have a storm!

Changing resorts would STRESS ME OUT! I want to know all about the one I end up going to, and follow the threads about it for a long time before I actually get there. Well...all I am saying...

Is I am getting OKW for *cough* $82 per night. And did I mention that came with some FREE Dining!

And AKL - well - someone else is footing that bill! (And even that was obtained at 40% OFF rack rate! :thumbsup2)

WL - again...40% off...(actually, I think it was 42% off, but whose counting?)...

I'm just sayin'...

Yes, we could also rent that skywriter and advertise over EPCOT, and TV time, or better yet, have a town hall meeting. Oh wait, we don't want violence, do we? No, wait again, we are soldiers, we are trained to do this.

I can deal with another resort if you can score THAT kind of deal! Gosh, that would mean seeing Cirque, doing a massage at GF, and scoring a few extra siggie meals.

Ummm, no here daddy would never in 5 million years let her go too. It's already a MAJOR stretch to spend $2,000 to just get me home!!

Also, I'm pretty confident you will get some kind of discount. Look at Maroo's streak of good luck! My goodness!

Okay, I feel rested after my 1,000 post party. I really knocked myself out.

Let's move on with this old clunker of a PTR.

Every branch of the military has a code of honor. If you ask any Marine s/he will tell you that his/her motto is "Semper Fi", said "to voice loyalty and commitment to their Marine comrades-in-arms". They will also tell you it is their sacred duty to uphold the laws of country and follow the orders of the Commander in Chief. I ran into an aritcle recently in my research, from which I will quote. It is fully relevant to our discussion hitherto.

"The US Constitution tells us we have duties before the law, but we also have duties to ourselves, to be our best and highest self, our happiest, noblest, most creative, talented selves, though for that we must accept the hard work that goes into making our character this way of our own free will. "
--JM Burgermeister

Not only does every branch have a "code of honor", every unit has a set of values they live by. Some of these are actually writtten in a field manual, others, yea, most likely the majority in fact, are understood by all, yet unspoken. Furthermore, each and every individual sailor, soldier, and flight crewman has a personal set of tenets to which they are compelled to adhere to. I would imagine that much of what they exemplify in their military setting is part of who they are in civilian life. Just a theory mind you.

We have expounded at length on the TC3's common duty and "collective code of honor" set forth in their Consitution, which now brings us to the time each TC3 sergeant must declare, at least in part, her personal list of "tenents of which to tour by". As theorized, Soldier #1's "Disney Touring Tenets" mirror her everyday civilian life in SOME respects. But, in the period of time following a long, hard battle, a few exceptions must be make. For, like some college-aged students who tend to take a walk on wild side in their new found freedom, this soldier may hold to some tenets that aren't part of her regular everyday routine. I figure as long as these personal rules aren't destructive, rude or detrimental to others revelling in their own victories, or don't go againsnt the TC3 Collective Code of Honor, then "All's Fair in Vacation at Disneyworld".

Okey, dokey, onto the meat. Exactly WHAT does all this mean??

1) I am a sap. 100% sappy, like maple trees in spring. I love my family, and I want to know what's going on at the homefront. I am an obsessive phone caller, and would call 400 times given any chance while away from home-- What did they eat for dinner, did DS put clean underwear on, and so on and so forth. I know, it's pathetic; mom's sometimes are. In my old age (yes, at 42, I feel old sometimes-living where I live tends to do that to people ) I am learning that my family can get along without me just fine. No they won't do the dishes, they'll eat bread and cheese 3 meals a day, and watch a few extra movies, and even if someone breaks a leg, all will be fine in the end. So, TC3 Soldier #1 now swears under penalty of having her Dole Whip priveleges revoked:

She will NOT call home unless there is a DIRE emergency.

2) TC3 Soldier #1 is a world traveller, as most of you know. I LOVE cultures, foreign, exotic places, and all the sights and smells (except Central Asian busses in summer, and the meat house) that travelling entails. It is exhilirating, especially when the road police pull you over and hold a lighter to your passport.

The last 2 forays into World Showcase were rudely and abruptly cut short. I blame antsy-pantsy parents for one time, and time constraints for the other. I was angry. I was slighted. And it won't happen again. It is my favorite area of all the parks, and I crave more time there.

My second personal tenet is to:

Spend time in WS, until my little ol' heart is content. I want the shows, I want to take in the details, I want the snacks, baby!!! I'm holding your funnel cakes hostage, ladies! Follow me there.

So, you see, it is all about Semper Fi, but it's also all about being good to me. **Warning, I'm swerving away from my normal likeable self here... Selfish, yeah, a little. For a week, I think I'll be forgiven.

Speaking of WS, which I adore, and want to spend oodles of more time in, let me, for a moment, take a stroll down memory lane with you. Here are a few of my favorite shots from last year of my favorite place.

I'm sure you will want to 'check in' with your family. Maybe calling every other day wouldn't be so bad. We always call our parents after our flights just to let them know our plane actually landed.

How many days are you planning on going to Epcot? By some chance you walk past those funnel cakes in the WS (which I'm sure won't happen), you can always get them in MK. I don't remember if you guys are going the DDP but one difference is that the MK funnel cake counts as a snack. The WS one doesn't!!!!!popcorn::

Love the trip tenants, but a few calls home wouldn't be to damaging would they? Or are they like potato chips where you can't have just one? :lmao:

I think I need one of those masks now too. I have to go add it to my December shopping list now.

I am sooo with you - I would love spending enough time in WS to see all of the shows. DH & DS are far too impatient. I need to work on meeting some strangers on the DIS to spend time in WS with me. :lmao:

Okay, I can see I'm gonna get roasted for this, so let me try to explain...

First of all, unless I have access to Skype, (which I probably will if maroo brings her laptop, but let's overlook that for now), I really won't have a way to do it. Overseas calls cost about $30 for a 10 minute call. Strike one.

Secondly, I definitely WILL call when I arrive in the States on the front end of my trip. That will be 2 whole weeks before we get to Orlando. So, they will get approximately 14 calls then. I DO love them, afterall. I figure 14 calls is more than plenty. Strike two.

Thirdly, I'm really feeling that part of this trip is in many ways therapeutic. I need to know again, that I can have an identity apart of the neediness of my family . Don't get me wrong, I LOVE my role as a wife and mother, but after 20 years of VERY little time for me, I think it's time. It's hard to explain.

Lastly, my family is a bit bent out of shape that I get to do this- especially DH. I don't want to rub salt in the wound, so to speak. So that's strikes three AND four, so you're out!

Now, onto funnel cakes... yes, I knew that about WS ones not being on the DP, but I couldn't think of maroo's other WS snackoid. I'll go back and find it, and threaten to hold it ransom too.

DDP??? Not sure yet. Depends on the bounceback she scores in a couple of weeks. So more info. pending on that.

Yeah, I think we just got to strike 5! I know if I call once, it will be all over. My marshmellowy sappiness will win control, and that will be it.

Those masks were gorgeous! Incredible!! Alas, I now I cannot afford one- they were like $100 or something outrageous, if I remember right- I am really, really hoping that I can find a pin with one on it. Anyone know if they exist??

Ok...

I feel the need to lighten things up a little bit. :lmao:

So...I will tell you what I was laughing so hard about! :thumbsup2

It was Lisa and Richard (Lauren's parents) and we were standing around talking when something happened that made me laugh out loud. Then...I...got "winded"...out loud...and then DIED laughing. :lmao:

I was literally on the floor on laughing. :rotfl:

I was so embarassed and it was so, so funny. We were all just cackling. Until I started coughing. Couldn't breathe. Had to go upstairs to get my inhaler and by then it was too late. 30 min drive to the hospital and 3 breathing treatments later, I was fine.

So there's your warning. And all courtesy of Lisa - who so kindly asked me to tell ALL of you guys that!

Now, no one can ever accuse me of not being a good sport. :lmao: :rotfl: :rotfl2:

How about extra points if we DON'T end up in the ER? Shall we? I think every person should only have go to ONCE during a WDW vacation and we took care of my "once" during our wish trip! ::yes::

Yes...you are Liesa (e in the middle, but sometimes I type it wrong :rolleyes1)...then there is Lisa that is Lauren's Mom and my BF...and not to be confused with Lisa P - who is Lauren's full time assistant at school...too many Lisa's! And this is a common conversation at their house. We never know which one of you we are talking about...

When Lauren says it there is "Mom", "_____stan Liesa" and "Lisa P"...

In fact...Lauren wanted me to tell you (Liesa) that she thought about you in math class the other day. She was trying to figure out what time it was there. So...hello from Lauren!

But now you are asleep. So...hello in the morning! :wave2:

Onto a few more "Tenets to Tour By"

I am NOT a very good photographer. I can point and shoot with the best of them (amateurs, that is), and about 1 in 10 photos will be decent enough to post or be proud of. There are always your occasional shots of some dork talking with his mouth full of food, or a blurry face with a spectacular background, which usually evokes and audible, "DOH!" when viewed for the first time on the computer.

Last trip, exactly ZERO of my POTC shots turned out; ditto for the fireworks. I hate that!

So, one of the goals I have for this time around is to spend the year practicing with my camera- a lot. Just to be geeky and all that, I actually got out the manual AND read it- yes, front to back. I learned a lot, but most of it was like water on a ducks back.

You know what was really helpful?? I started reading Todd H.'s PTR a few days ago, and he is one of the "pros" on the photo board. (His title is "Braving the Humidity and Going in Sept" or something similar, and you can find it HERE (http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2259589). On page 2 or 3 there are tons of hints for shooting in the dark and for parades. Let me tell you, those folks know what they are doing!! Their photos rock!!! Mine will be better, than they were last year, but won't rock, cuz, I can't shell out $2,000 for a slick new rig like they have.

So, without further ado Soldier #1's #3 Tenet is: (the # key is growing on me)

I will take many more photos, and with God's grace, they will be of much of better quality than last trip's, which were pathetic and too few. It will be a bigger focus, but not so much overly so, that maroo and TPW, get annoyed.

OK, my fingers are tired, so I'll have to save #4 for later today or tom. I have to go give a spelling test now. :teacher:

Well, I just typed my next tenets out, and was almost done, when I pushed something wrong and lost 45 minutes of work!! :scared1:

Crap!!!

Take 2...

I like food. I enjoy cooking food, but especially eating it! I love a well- presented, highly attractive, nicely seasoned, flavorful plate of chow! Here in Blank-a-Stan, we VERY rarely go out to eat. Every restaurant in town serves the same pukey food; without sounding to high falutent (NO, NOT flatulent!) hoity toity, I simply cook a better meal. Seriously, if you like meal of greasy macaroni, rice or potoatoes with a little grissle thrown on top, you're in business. I do not. I gives me heartburn.

So, I've determined that about 1/3 of this trip is about the food. I so, so, so long to go out to eat with my soul mate girlfriends to places I don't have to cook or endure bad food!! Remember that dinky little stove I have to abide by every day?? If not, refresh your memories on page, oh I don't know, page 4 or 5. I know Disney won't pony up with highly seasoned or spicy food, they dumb it down more and more every year. But what they lack there, they will more than make up for it in atmosphere! Every restaurant is so different, and I am excited to get the opportunity to EAT in new, fun places! Also, for those of you who are interested, I"ve actually already named my Dining Report. Anal, but true!! :lmao:

So TENET #4:

Solder #1 promises herself that she will eat in 5 new table service places on our trip that she's never eaten at before! Plans are already being solidified, and now that they are going back to 180 days, we are even more excited to be getting our ADR's that much sooner.

Now, I'm posting this right now, because obviously you never know when your fingers will experience typing palsy and push the "erase 45 minutes of work button". The next tenet will be coming very soon.

Thank you for your attention.

ALL7OfUs I know EXACTLY what you are talking about "bad" fingers erasing 45 min of work cause after I read what my hubby posted (pdmedic) I sought to correct his start with adding my own and Umm that was at 8 am this morning and I FINALLY just posted it (cough cough) 10 min ago due to bad finger action.:rotfl2:
And OH YEA I am soo with you on the food that is HALF the fun of a Disney Trip.:stir: I am surprised that there isn't more food options over in that HUGE sandbox :rotfl:!!!

Our country's people have the WORLD'S WORST cuisine. It is a joke to even call it that!! I was dead serious when I said that they eat greasy macaroni, potatoes or rice, with "meat" on top!! The ONLY spices they use are salt, pepper and garlic!! Oh yeah, and dill, large, copious amounts of dill. GAG me with a pitchfork!

Now, if you go slightly east to "the other side", they have loads of variety, and even duck tongues to munch on. Tasty!

I have to bring in all my spices and odd ingredients like peanut butter and baking powder. Yeah, it's that bad. My mother is my hero and a saint, and sends me regular care packages that delight the lot of us! Bless her a thousand times over.

You are very, very sweet to offer. I will definitely think about it, and PM you. Once in a while someone ventures out our way and we can ask them to bring something in. In fact, just today, an adoptive mom came in and brought a new vacuum cleaner motor for us. Her adoption was held up for 2 extra months, so it's been 3 MONTHS since I"ve had a vacuum cleaner!! :scared1: My househelper is pretty good at sweeping my rugs with a damp straw broom, but I shudder to think about the dust in them.

Will do, but I've gotta get this carcass to bed. It's midnight, and way too late to type anything more that will be meaningful.

It'll be Monday before I can DIS again,

Until then---

Have a wonderful weekend!

Ew...sorry to hear about this! :guilty:

Liesa- I am not a foodie by any means. And I am not one to be very adventurous with my meals. However, I too am really looking forward to dining possibilities at WDW and getting a break from cooking daily meals for my family (though my cooking conditions are slightly better than yours). Woo hoo to you and your five new TS :woohoo::woohoo: restaurant choices.... what might they be???? I think I have some hints to a few you may dine at.

People, People.... You guys gotta catch up to the "new thing".... Forget the computer...my iPhone has SKYPE! :thumbsup2

And no worries...I will have my computer! :)

I didn't know that iPhones could use Skype. I already told DW that when our current contract is up on our phones (another 14 months:mad:) I am getting a iPhone. Her rebuttal- 'Well if you are getting one, so am I!' LOL

Picture this scenario. Your a DJ at a wedding. You use a Macbook Pro but you don't have a wireless card. The hall that your at doesn't have an internet connection. The bride tells you that she has to change her 1st dance song to a song that isn't in your 85,000 song collection. You say no problem. Jump on your trusty iPhone and DL the song from iTunes. Plug in your phone.. transfer the song... instant happy bride!!!!:rotfl:

Our country's people have the WORLD'S WORST cuisine. It is a joke to even call it that!! I was dead serious when I said that they eat greasy macaroni, potatoes or rice, with "meat" on top!! The ONLY spices they use are salt, pepper and garlic!! Oh yeah, and dill, large, copious amounts of dill. GAG me with a pitchfork!

Now, if you go slightly east to "the other side", they have loads of variety, and even duck tongues to munch on. Tasty!.

Dill???? I don't think I ever cooked with dill! LOL

Ever had a duck tongue sandwich?:confused3;)

Ew...sorry to hear about this! :guilty:

Really!! Everyone! I didn't mean to make you feel sorry for me! Honestly! We actually do very well with the ingredients that we do have, and end up with great tasting American food. What I meant is that it will be very nice to have a whole week of eating great food, that someone else makes!

HA! You are very tricky, reminescint of that'snice.

Although, I'd love to tell you what those might be, we are still putting some thought to those, and narrowing things down. In fact, someone, maybe it was KathyRN137, suggested we play a little game in revealing our dining choices. I will attempt to make the food, post a picture, and you all get to guess where it is. I think it will be fun for me and for you. But, that's for later; there's still a lot to share before then

You think of everything, don't you!?

Dill, is in everything here. And practically free in the bazaar. Seriously, we pay about 10 cents for a big bunch; in the States it's like $2.00 for a little teeny, weeny sprig. Ridiculous! It's a weed and easy to grow!

NO! That sounds worse than slugs. Funny I should say that, though, I really like escargot! :lmao:

Adventure is in my blood, I guess. I enjoy discovering new places and exploring the, yet, unseen! You never know what will be around the corner to see or do. I suppose I wouldn't be living here, or have chosen my line of work, if it weren't! We've experienced the nuances of so many places, taking in the sights and sounds and smells () as we go. I like to be a student of HOW people live, how they think and why, and what MAKES a place unique.

WDW is no different, but ashamedly, there are FAR, far too many places that I've never graced my presence in. In fact, I'm almost mortified to admit that I've only ever really spent any significant time in WL, Fort Wilderness, and the Poly. What a pathetic line-up for someone who loves Disney as much as I do. Every trip, I have always left thinking to myself, I wish I had spent more time in such and such place (insert resort name here). A regret I won't let happen again.

This brings me now to Touring Tenet #5 (I truly hope that's the number we're on); Soldier #1 hereby promises herself that she will:

Spend at least a little time in 4 new resorts that she's never seen. I want to get to know the "feel" of them, discover uncharted territory in them, find out what really makes each one special.

Another regret--well, not exactly a regret, but rather something I never get the chance to do because of being with too large a party, is taking in the less popular, less well-known attractions. Seriously, ask yourselves... when's the last time you've cruised on the Liberty Belle?? Climbed into the upper reaches of the Swiss Family Treehouse and closed your eyes, listened to that cute little polka, and pretended you were one of the stranded?? How about taking way more time to window shop on Main Street, gazing at those fantastical and downright amazingly creative window displays that only Disney could come up with?? For me, I can, with a perfectly honest answer, say that I haven't done any of those things since I was in high school or perhaps when I was a CM in college. What a pity!!

Touring Tenet #6 henceforth is:

Soldier #1 will spend a good bit more time taking in the weenie rides and attractions that no one else seems to appreciate very often. Maybe you have to get to the decrepit old age of 42 to reminesce the good old days when you were grateful to just BE at Disney with Mom and Dad? Maybe your ummm.... softening body can't do Dinosaur too many times anymore? I don't know, I just know, I'm excited to discover those hidden gems once again! I'm very excited to document it all too, for everyone to enjoy with me again in a Trip Report next year.

Fantastic touring tenets! I heartily agree.

And may I say, without sounding too sappy, that I think you may have listed all your faults, but you just listed one of your best qualities right here. That you are that curious about people, about places, about how things work and why...that's just one of the best things I've heard in a long time. We live in a world where it's so easy to be willfully ignorant and you're not. And I appluad that.

Bet you didn't know you were going to get that kind of response, huh?

On a lighter note, I don't remember the last time I was on the Liberty Belle!

Oddly enough, DH and I were talking about rides past just last night, as in did he ever get to go on Mr. Toad's Wild Ride? Sadly, he didn't. I remember it so fondly. So it's good to go on the other things, the non main things, because you never know when they'll take them away or turn them into something else. :thumbsup2

I agree with the trying to see the lesser (is this a word?) known rides. I was trying to find my 'Unofficial Guide to Disney' book to tell you what they say about the riverboat. I just can't seem to find the book right now. There are a few 'new' rides we will be going on this trip too!:goodvibes

Oddly enough... No I didn't! That was a sweet surprise to brighten my electricity-less day. It just came back on a couple of hours ago, and we can safely chalk up another day off for the older kids who depend on a DVD player for lessons. Ugh!

You are right, they are either willfully ignorant or too wrapped up in themselves to care. :sad2: There would be fewer world crises if folks would just take a little time to understand the "other point of view", even if they can't agree. Okay, stepping off my soap box now.

He never went on Mr. Toad?? WOW!! That is definitely on the top of my nostalgic look-back rides. I loved it!

Yes, we plan to hit several, but sadly, we must leave you guessing for a while longer until we nail them down. We're still hashing out the big picture stuff right now. Which can be just as important when you're going with "strangers". :rotfl2:

Yes, that was on the list too. Walt was truly a visionary, way beyond his time. I also want to hit animation studios. In fact, I have a little list I'm compiling of the little hidden gems that I want to look for/visit, but that's getting ahead of myself.

LOVE the new tenets. I for one am one of those strange people that always rides the people mover, what do they call it now? It's something different. But this is at DL, I think it's a nice break from all the crowds and to rest the feet and just people watch. Also love to take a ride around the whole park on the train. Most people just jump on and off at the next stop, I like to ride full circle.

Exploring resorts, LOVE this idea:thumbsup2 I didn't realize on our first and my only trip to WDW that there was so much at the resorts.:confused3 Otherwise I would've done some meals outside the parks on our honeymoon. Have you decided which four you will explore? Or do I have to wait?;)

The people on the FL coast actually evacuate TO WDW! Now that's my kind of evacuation right there!

:lmao: Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for the link! I'm gonna def check it out!

As for the ones I want to vist... Without giving away WHERE we are actually going to stay at here are some that I really want to explore:

Carribean Beach- I want to hear the Calypso music, sit in a hammock, shop in the Customs House, and see the pool area.

The Grand Floridian- The photos I've seen on others' TR's make me drool. I want to "feel" the luxury, maybe even get pampered a little here.

Animal Kingdom Lodge- As I said earlier, I love to travel, and west and east Africa are places I've never visited! That's about as close as I'll probably ever get. I want to hear the drumming music, see the viewing balcony, and maybe take in a meal here??

The Boardwalk Area Resorts- Not sure what attracts me to here, maybe the variety of eating places, the fact that I grew up near the beach in California? Anyway, would like to see what's going on there.

That's a sample of the places I'd like to visit and hang out in just a little!

As much as I love the company I've chosen, there needs to be established the following Touring Tenet. It may end up that one or two of us needs to venture out on our own for any of a thousand and one reasons. Maybe it gets stinkin' hot out, and one of us wants to cool their heels in a pool?
Maybe we've been up late for several nights in a row (ya think!?) and one of us gets a wee bit pooped, and needs to hit the hay earlier? Or maybe someone just needs to poop? How about, one of us gets to feeling a bit Pirate-y and wants to venture off to see what she can find all on her own for a little "space"? Maybe one of us needs to load up on a little more Casey's ammo before the night grows old?? :confused3 I don't have a problem with this, and in fact, would offer the suggestion that I make a formal plea:

Touring Tenet #7:
Soldier #1 gives the freedom, and takes it as well, for each one of us to be able to strike out on her own for WHATEVER reason she deems necessary! To quantify this, I will say that, honestly, I don't see this happening very often. Nevertheless, if Soldier #1 wants to see what's around the corner and the others want to ride Pooh - again- she will.

All of you moms out there will especially relate to the next little soliloquy... How many thousand of dollars do you think you've spent on your children over the years. Diapers alone probably cost us $2,000! We are a VERY frugal family. I U-pick and can my own fruits and veggies, grow a garden, buy our clothes at the Goodwill (often with the OshKosh tags still ON), drive a used car until it dies, DH fixes it himself, the list goes on and on. Now, all that was not to brag in any way shape of form, we just really enjoy the challenge of finding ways to save now, so we can keep going to Thailand after leave where we are. :woohoo: But, even with all that, we spend a lot on everyone but ourselves. Yes, there's the occassional splurge like the IPod I got a couple of months ago, but the vast majority of the spending money goes to our children. If it's not Christmas presents or school tuition (and soon university) for our oldest 3, then it's ice cream treats, or an occassional new movie.

Ladies, it's time to spend a little on ourselves.

Touring Tenet #8:

Soldier #1 will spend whatever left over dough there is in the (former) super-secret trip account (remember I DID come clean on that!) on ME (of course, if there is any). My kids couldn't care less for Mickey shirts or cheap plastic doo-dads from China (we have enough of that here), so Mama is drawing up a short list of goodies to be brought home for herself that she remember from her last trip(s). Of course, I'm not a complete clod, the kids will each get a little something fun as well, but the more exciting purchases will be for moi. (Are you catching on yet, that this is a trip that is designed for people who need a break?? and need some pampering?) So, expect a series of updates on her pre-TC3 trips perusals found from sources right here on the DIS in the future.

A mother actually treating herself? THE HORROR! ;)

Seriously, I have one word for you.

Basin.

Get thee to this shop, woman! You can find it in Downtown or in a smaller version in the Grand Floridian, and there's all sorts of lovely smelly soaps and bath products. Something that I think you could take home, and luxuriate in and be reminded of your trip for quite a while. It's pricey, but it's worth it.

And I'm with you on splitting up when necessary. What if one of you wants to literally stop and smell the roses? There are some very nice smelling ones on this particular walkway in Epcot, if you want to know which one, let me know. See, you never know when the mood may hit. :thumbsup2

Liesa- I think we would get along splendidly. Pre-kids I shopped in the best markets, wore name brand clothes, and was- well basically a spoiled brat. :rotfl: not to offend anyone that has the means to live that life, I just didn't appreciate it. Here is the part where I think we would get along quite well: I got married to a teacher- who teaches in a catholic school, so makes even less than "regular" teachers- and have learned to be quite frugal. We shop sales racks and consignment, I cloth diaper (I do half cloth and half disposable now), make most of our meals from scratch, and even gave making my own cleaning products a try, with some success and some failure. ;) And we only buy used cars as well. Part of it is the frugal mom in me and part is my environmental awareness (and when the two combine it's a win win).

Love that you will get to splurge a little on yourself.:thumbsup2

I didn't think anyone would really mind if I splurged, just a little. But sometimes, one who's so tightwaddish, needs to remind herself to let her hair down- you know a kick in the hiney aimed at oneself to do what is so against her grain.

Funny you should mention this little outcropping of luxury... I did have plans of stopping in her to pick up a little something for MMMMEEEEEE! (insert Gollum saying that as he plots to steal the ring) Bathtimes await...

My favorite rose is called Angel Face, a soft lavendar colored beauty. If I stop, I'm smelling them all.

Ummmm, that's me. Dad was a doctor. Was a spoiled brat. Married a normal guy on a normal salary who worked for the state, and it was well, a rather rude awakening. Did cloth too, exclusively for first 2 and a half kids, then went to part disp. half way though kid #3. Then we moved overseas and well, power was just too spotty to use cloth. NO power= NO washer. EWWW!

You are so funny.

I won't be splitting off to ride POOH (maybe Peter Pan!)...I will be heading to the hot tub! To soak my toes!

This is what I love about Disney! Transportation can get you to and from your resort for a little rest, if needed! :)

May I suggest, if you would like pampering at the Grand floridian, that you book tea. It will nicely replace a meal, and you *will* be pampered. Also, they have a lovely orchestra on the balcony over the lobby, which is free for the listening. Check Steve Soars entertainment site, or somebody over on the resort board should know which days it plays.

Another elegant but thrifty choice is the Prix fixe 3 course lunch in france. It runs around 15$ but can be about 1.5 hours of luxury. (really a dinner, but of course it they called it dinner, it would cost more) Also whilst in France, sniff the perfume and enjoy viewing the stained glass in the library.

Congratulations!!! You certainly are a wunderkind!! So, what are your specialties, then??

I like to grill.....salmon, pork chops, steak, shrimp, chicken you name it. I grill in snowstorms and when it is 0 outside. Juliana loves anything pasta and 'Daddy's' meatloaf. I make chicken cutlets on occasion and sometimes make chicken parm out of them. DW makes the sauce and meatballs though. She makes a huge pot about every other week and we freeze containers of it. One of my favorite meals is pork loin, garlic mashed potatoes, and carrots. Here is the recipe.. I found it a few years ago on foodnetwork.

Ingredients
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1 teaspoon ground coriander
1 teaspoon dried thyme
Salt
1 1/4 pounds pork tenderloin
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 teaspoon minced garlic
Directions
Preheat the oven to 450 degrees F.

In separate bowl mix dry ingredients such as garlic powder, oregano, cumin, coriander, thyme and salt. Stir mixture with a fork until all the ingredients are well combined and they form a seasoning. This will be used as a rub to ensure the pork is well seasoned throughout. Sprinkle the rub over the tenderloin with a dry hand, then rub the pork with the seasoning over both sides of the meat, pressing gently so the seasoning adheres well to the tenderloin.

In a large skillet over medium-high heat, add the olive oil and heat. Add the minced garlic and saute, stirring, for 1 minute. Put tenderloin in the pan and cook for about 10 minutes, searing each side using tongs to turn the meat. Transfer meat to a roasting pan and bake for 20 minutes. Slice and serve.

I make my garlic mashed potatoes by using red potatoes quartered. Place into boiling water with 3-4 table spoons of chopped garlic and salt. Once I can stab them with a fork and they slide off they are ready. (usually 20-25 min) I drain the water and place back in the pot. Mash potatoes then add another tablespoon garlic, butter, milk, little salt, and few twists of black pepper. Mash all items then enjoy!

Carrots.. I peel and slice longways about 2 inches long. I just boil them with a little pad of butter and they are so good. I just season mine with a little black pepper.

Not having a computer at work has seriously interrupted my DIS time....not to mention all of my work I will have to catch up on!

I can see how that would happen; you should DEMAND a new computer be placed in that cushy office of your immediately!!! Tell them you have too much DIS work to catch up- PEOPLE DEPEND ON YOU!!! :lmao:

I just realized I have not POSTED on here in AGES! Nevermind that I have been LURKING...which is even worse. :scared1: I have been mostly able to get on via my iPhone recently and don't post much from there. Anyway....

Now THIS is a travesty!! I kept thinking to myself--- "Like WHY would maroo go MIA on us??!! Did I accidently say something about Muffin? Does my coffee breath smell all the way over there?!" You are scary!

First of all...you are not giving away any "secrets" over here are you? I told you I would figure it out....:rolleyes1

Gosh...give it ALL away! :rotfl: Don't tell them ANYTHING else! :rotfl: :lmao: :rotfl2: Just kidding!

Absolutely NONE, ZERO, NOOL (that's 0 on Kazakh, in case you ever wanted to know), NADA!!!!! You deceive yourself, and are striken with a case of wishful thinking. Maybe. I aint' saying a thing!!!! Just that there are tantalizing possibilities.... :rolleyes1

I am Grumpy Butt....on occasion...when I get a little tired and hungry! Hmm...sorta like an infant!

Nice to meet you, baby! Now, stop your whining!

Well, without getting too far ahead of ourselves, the first one was on a list of possibilities. I've looked at all the threads about tea, and LOVE the idea. It would be one of those, let's have a flashback moment things. WHen I was a little girl, my parents took our family to HIGH Tea (not just any tea) at the Prince something or rather hotel in Victoria, B.C. It was one of those WOW moments in my life. Unfortunately my sisters acted like incredible brats and ruined it for all of us. :sad2: So, this is a possibility to have a do-over. Adult style. With champagne.

I've never looked the Prix Fixe in France. Is it at Chefs?? Definitely going to sniff perfume. In fact, I may even squirt a little on. I am compelled to do that in every dept. store I go in (it's sorta become a joke in my family) and finding Remy in there will be fun! I had also hoped to take a few photos of the library area too!! We really think alike, you and I. ;)

First off, you'll have to realize that this will quite possibly be the world's longest, most D R A W N O U T PTR in the history of the DIS!!! We are taking it slow and easy, as we have more than a year (by the way, we are almost down to our 1 year mark ) to drive many unsuspecting souls insane with anticipation!! THese past few months have been all about setting up the big picture, giving the background, and agreeing on our guidelines.

But I pinky swear, that AS SOON AS MAROO gets back in about 3 weeks, we will dive into the more detail oriented stuff!! Gawrsh, I can't wait!! :goofy:

So, pull up a chair, and make yourself right at home. We have padded walls if you need them.

Things have really slowed down here on this little effort called a Pre-Trip report. Last night, it was actually on PAGE 3!!! :scared1: Seriously, if there are lurkers, come on out and play!! Don't be shy; say hi!!

Everyone knows, even if they don't want to march to the tune, that you can get more done as far as attractions go, first thing in the morning. Every guide book, website and other Tom, Dick, and Harry will tell you that most people aren't willing to get up early on vacation, so the early birds get the worms so to speak (using old, worn out cliches).

Here's the scoop... a big deal for me this trip is to slow down and hunt for the little special extras that the Imagineers have put in the parks to make them worth exploring. But, I am compulsive, like many of you here. And what makes this trip so much greater is that I don't have the young'ins, or even old ones, to make happy. It's just 3 (or more ;)) women to get out the door, who are (mostly) capable of brushing their own teeth and grabbing their own belongings. It shouldn't be too hard to hustle on out at 7:30 to make rope drop. Which I fully intend to do as often as possible, by the way. I want the most bang for my buck, and to me, that means hitting all the rides I can, before it becomes overly choked with humanity making it impossible.

So, here we go for Touring Tenet #9 for Soldier #1:

Soldier #1 promises herself that: Hard core touring will be done from Rope Drop until we get lines that are say, 20 or 30 minutes long. Then I will slow down, and as TK likes to do, smell the roses. If a line looks short, great we'll hop in, but by then, we'll have gotten most everything "done" as far as attractions go.

Now, The Last Touring Tenet (#10) is very closely tied with Touring Tenet #9.

To force myself to slow down and take in the details, I'm compiling a LONG list of little hidden gems from every park, resort and toilet stall that I want to look for. It's like a little personalized scavenger hunt. And no, you don't have to run to the toilet stalls to leave me any little surprises, I'm sure that there are plenty of others who have already done that- (see Great Biscuit's Trip report) There are secrets from books, websites, and other people's trip reports, that are waiting to be photographed. I can't wait!! I can't wait to show TPW Tinkerbell in her house, to listen to the Pirates digging for treasure in the queue at POTC, and to pick up the phones and listen on Main Street.

Little details like this Hidden Mickey:

http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll305/All7OfUs/DSCN3013.jpg

Or Minnie's shoes!

http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll305/All7OfUs/DSCN3026-1.jpg

popcorn::popcorn:: Now, it's maroo's and ThePreachersWife's turns to tell us all about exactly WHAT will make her trip special. popcorn::popcorn::

By the way, after this, while maroo is having a blast on her super-sized, upgraded to the max, stay ot OKW, I'll post the results of the little poll we ladies took amongst ourselves to see how all this was going to mesh together. I think the results will be quite fascinating for you to see. After that, when she gets back, WE'LL BE ABLE TO REVEAL AT LONG LAST WHERE AND WHEN WE'RE GOING!!!! WON'T THAT BE EXCITING?!!

I think not. They smell really bad, and we have more than enough outhouses all around us to suffice for the breezy days.

Besides, our adventure with the turkey was enough for us. DH forgot to sharpen the axe on Thanksgiving, and it was rather traumatic for all involved- especially the turkey. :scared1:

You all scared me away by being excited at the prospect of me maybe coming along - too much pressure to perform! :lmao:

Just kidding! Life has just been crazy busy lately and this is the last thread I needed to catch up on. You guys are so witty and verbose I had to make sure I was prepared to give the thread my undivided attention prior to posting.

I am not going to multi-quote as I am pages behind and my post would turn into its own page. So here are my random thoughts and whatnot. . .

1 - I would love to go on this trip! I just don't think that would go over too well with Jordan (my dd) who was ticked off at me for going to Magic Meets for the day let alone going to WDW for a week without her. Bringing her really isn't an option either because we are planning some family trips and I can only pull her out of school five days a year. So I don't think I will be attending. :sad1: However, that all being said, a lot can change in a year so I have learned to never say never.

2 - Liesa :cheer2::cheer2: on 1000 posts! Maroo and TK are definitely addicted based on their post counts! ;) Though I guess I should confess that I mostly lurked at the beginning because I didn't think anyone would really care what I had to say. Now I just comment away whether anyone cares or not. :rotfl:

3 - Soldier #1's Touring Tenets
You won't call home! :scared1: I am a caller too! My parents have watched DD since she was 6 weeks old and I call at least once or twice a day to check in on her and I go home for lunch to see her. No way would I make it without calling! In fact, she started first grade yesterday and I wish I could call the teacher just to check in. It bugs me that I have no contact with DD and do not know what she is doing from 8:25am - 3pm. (ETA - just read your explanations and they make a lot of sense. Good for you for taking this trip for you!)

WS - we have spent a lot of time there but not enough time just absorbing the details of it all. That is a great tenet!

I am a photographer! I love my SLR and have taken some really good shots but I could learn some more too. I tend to take about 900 photos in a one week trip to WDW. That is a really great tenet and one I should work more on!

Five new TS restaurants - an admirable goal! Our last trip was tempered a bit by my parents who are not adventurous eaters.

Seeing resorts and less heralded attractions is my dream trip some day! To not be caught up in the rush to get to meet his character, grab this FP or get in this line. To just absorb all of the magnificent detail that makes up WDW.

Love the freedom to do what you want and spend money on yourself tenets!

Love the rope drop and commando and then take it easy and absorb the details plan!

It is crazy that your list of tenets are very similar to what my list would be!

4 - Maroo your story about what made you laugh and the trip to the ER - talk about a confession! Now you know you are amongst friends!
Sorry to hear you are sick! I was worried that we haven't seen you around much lately!

Seriously, she even said they will do another CBC tomorrow, and if it is higher, they are going to look more closely at what's going on, and she even mentioned an appendicitis!!!!

She says she HAS to go to work tomorrow, or she won't be able to go to WDW in Dec.

Could you pray for her?? She has some really exciting meets scheduled next week, is arranging a special something for a WISH family, and as you all know, she deserves a break.

well at least we know it is a place with a pool :lmao: which could be any resort hotel :rotfl: oh man.... what would the theme of the pool area be?

Think you're a smarty pants, eh?

The day maroo leaves, we're going to start playing a game called "The Resort is Right". It will be a ton of fun, but the more people that play the more fun we'll have. Then when she gets back and tells me she scored a fantabulous bounceback, and has booked it, we'll see who won a Dole Whip (by the way, claiming your prize WOULD require a physical presence (there- you have your small print)).

Meantime, I promised to post a very interesting little exercise that we ladies did a way back when. It was a private little poll we all took. But, honestly I'm swamped this weekend. I teach a quiliting class to 5 ladies, who DON'T measure using the imperial system (ie. they've never heard of the inch, let alone understand the concept of the quarter inch!) and have NEVER used a sewing machine every Saturday afternoon. It is like potty training infants! So, needless to say, I won't be able to get back on the boards until Monday morning, which for all of you, is Sunday evening.

Until then, have a great weekend!!

i absolutely love all the things you plan to do. i am well known for my commando touring style. on my last trip it got even worse. i am a disney junkie and tgm made me even crazier, so i didnt give anyone anytime to smell any roses. that being said i did make sure that i saw every country at ws. i have to say it was the one thing i felt like i always miss, so i had a little laminated schedule (pocket size) with the times that everything was going on. we saw miyuki(sp?) and yes we got candy. we saw the acrobats in china, we saw plenty of musical performances. we saw a hysterical romeo and juliet in italy. believe it or not my parents werent thrilled but my kids loved all of it. they were only 5 and 2 but they really enjoyed that. we saw the waterfall in canada (finally) i always start at mexico so i never get there. and after finishing all the countries i got to see a double rainbow . how nice is that. so my long windedness (is that a word?) is to say i definitely think devoting time to ws is worth it

Oh, dearie, we would get along very, very well! We could hold our little cutsie, laminated pocket-sized schedules side by side over lunch, and speak sweet nothings about them to each other!!! We could laud our well-thought-out plans, and lament the fact together that we in fact, did not take a picture in WS by EVERY country's fountain, or with EVERY country's folksy hat on.

But, over dinner, we could pat ourselves on the back that we did indeed see Miyuki, score some candy from her, watch all 4 shows in WS, hold our hands over our hearts when we watched the Fife and Drum Corps, AND see the clocks cuckoo themselves into a frenzy when they struck the hour in Germany!!

WS is where the action is! Even if it's double rainbow action, girl!!

You guys are going to have to show me how to do WS...because I fail to really see the draw.

I figure THAT will get me kicked off the DIS - except I know all of the other things you guys have let me get away with....

But flame away!!!!

So...let's let THAT be the start of my TENETS...Hopefully to be COMPLETED before I leave for Disney....

1. (This may really get me kicked off the DIS...:rolleyes1) It is important for me to have some quiet time every single day. Normally I do this at night - just my personal preferrence. I sit and contemplate the day, say my prayers and read from my Bible Reading Plan. I do this every day. If I skip it while I am in Disney - I will be grumpy. So, I promise to have my quiet time every single night - or in the morning, if I am just too tired to focus at night. :thumbsup2

2. I promise to really try to see the World Showcase. Really see it. And enjoy it. For all that it has to offer!

3. I promise not to forsake the group TOO quickly if I get bored with the WS (but a girl has to have SOME hot tub time! ;)) But I also promise to capture some alone time on this trip - as I know even the best of friends need a break from each other at some point.

Alright, guys, I love the new tenets.

I have a couple of things to say. One, I love the idea of slowing down and finding those hidden things.

Maroo, I always like to journal in the mornings, so that may be a perfect time for you to partake in your cotemplation.

And dare I say :scared1: You don't see the draw of the World Showcase?

I daresay, this is because no one has shown you the draw! No one has shown you how to do it properly! Your other touring companions must surely step up to this challenge and enlighten you on all it has to offer.

I know, I know, now you're all going to say because I like it so much, I should volunteer for that role. :lmao:

My tip is get there right when it opens up so you can see things before it gets to crowded and don't watch all the movies.....most of them are a snooze fest.

Oh, and I love to start conversations with the cm's from the countries.

I love the laminated schedule. I have never made one for Epcot, but I do love that park. Maroo, you will like it. Maybe the Kim Possible game will help with the appreciation of Epcot. We will try it in two weeks and let you know how it is. You can also as adults stop at all of the kidcot stops and get the little country diecuts added to your masks. My friend and I did this as adults and got to meet a lot of cast members and learn about their home countries.

I also agree with alone time. My friend and I also did some extra park or resort time on our own without each other. However, it was a nice break for both of us to leave kids and husbands at home. I know you will have a blast! :wizard:

:scared1: WS is a place I would love to spend more time seeing the details, enjoying the shows, etc. Though I have spent a decent amount of time there since Jordan loves getting her passport stamped and doing the Kidcot stops. Maybe you need a passport to make it more interesting.

Maroo has MORE Tenets!

4. I promise to take MORE pictures on this trip. I am guilty of taking pictures for the first couple of days and then forgetting to take pictures later in the trip. This includes Photopass pictures - we are definitely getting a Photopass!

5. I promise to take pictures - not just of interesting things - but also of things that will help me write my trip report. Like I may take a picture of each ride/attraction so I know where I went in order. And restaurant signs so I know where I ate.

6. I promise to let Liesa take ALL of the food shots! I am giving up trying to do that. Liesa is in charge of the food art. (How do you like that?)

HMW: Well it's against our store policy to take photographs in our restaurant.
Mary (putting on her best GB): Yes, but I need these for my Trip Report.
HMW: Excuse, me... What's a trip report?
Mary: Well, you see a bunch of us are going to Disney World next year and we're going to have a lot of fun. We all take pictures of our food. I"m not sure why, really, we just do. So here's the deal, you can let me take these photos of my Happy Meal, or you can come too.
HMW: Oh, I see, so what are the dates of your trip and where are you staying?
Mary: Well, that's top secret, we haven't told anyone yet.
HMW: THat's it! I'm calling the cops. You weirdie!
Mary: Flees the scene of the crime, in search of somewhere that serves more vegetables.

Hi there ernieandbert! You must be a very brave to risk associating with "dependent" people like us!!! We've been getting called lots of names lately (Enablers, Temptresses, co-partakers, etc...). But Depends-wearing, laugh- inducers is a new, and might I add, intriguing new title for us. Certainly a conversation starter. :rotfl:

I've heard that before too, but Food Art sounds more sophisticated; and you know how sophisticated we are. :lmao:

Seriously, ponchos for everyone could be an expensive proposition... that's a mighty big tenet there!

Polls are like pointed questions posed by your mother---- after a date. She wants upfront answers to the questions that cut straight to the the heart of the matter. Did you kiss him? Do you like him? Did he pay for your dinner? Honestly, did you ever give your mother a straight answer? NO! But we can all agree that mothers DO have a way of questioning so that the truth is determined in a timely and efficient manner. Funny how they seem to know everything (I AM a mother), yet leave you guessing as to whether they know anything at all.

It's a matter of fact, Americans are in love the the humble POLL- just like you thought you were "in love" with that first date. Most of us know the reasons behind the answers given ARE important, but because we live in a culture of impatience and frankness, most of us just want to cut straight to the chase--- then, some probe a little deeper. Yes, ladies, we did turn out just like our mothers. And yes, most of you guys DID turn out just like your fathers, like it or not.

We want our information in tidy little packages tied up in string; these are a few of my favorite things... Sorry, I was feeling a little piece of strudel there. I see polls everyday, on every website I hit on; and since I'm tired of hearing how Americans feel about our new Commander-in-Chief, or what they think about cutting their carbon footprints, I made a poll of my own.

We Ladies of the TC3 actually participated in this very important little survey a few months ago, to determine if, at all, we were on the same touring page. I made a list of 13 things that might comprise a touring plan (or no touring plan, depending on how you look at it). Each of us was supposed to rank them in order of how important they were to us, from most looked forward to "I would rather gag myself with a fork, than do that." The results were amazing. Take a look.

Once again, we can clearly see that the Hand Of Providence was working in our misdt. Obviously, we are going to be a great touring trio, and get along very wel together. Generally, we all agree that hitting rides/ attractions, eating well, and seeing at least Spectro and Wishes are important. Shopping, character meets, and daytime parades are not so important, and when TPW and I are still in hardcore touring mode, maroo has the perfect freedom to hit the pool. :woohoo:

So, it's only taken us 2 and a half months to set up the foundation of the TC3Quest for Freedom. Phew!! We've discovered how we met and why we're going. We've explored our personal bounderies and set up "rules" for ourselves (who wants anarchy?) We even took a break from all that and told you how we're going to count funnel cakes as vegetables. Holy cow! We even took a mini trial run (at least 2 of us!).

Now it's time to get down to serious business ( you don't really believe that do you?) Next up: Army Headquarters, or Schnazzy Barracks- The Resort is Right style!! I promise it will be very fun!

And I buy ponchos for 79 cents. So I can afford one for each of you for each day we are touring! I figure we should not need more than one per day?? Hopefully we will have SOME drier days? I packed 10 ponchos for my trip that starts TOMORROW :yay: enough to share with Sharon. ::yes::

I am AMAZED at how much alike we are in our touring likes/dislikes! Amazing that three ladies all don't really care so much for shopping on our Disney trip...isn't that a record?

All of us ladies like the rides! That is cool, too! Not every lady can say that!

Although maybe I should have put "relaxing at the resort" above finding hidden mickeys?? But for this trip - I really want Liesa to show me all of the hidden mickeys!

I think Liesa carefully considered things before she brought up going on this trip. She was following my trip reports and really knew what I liked in my touring! She did a great job figuring out that we would be good trip mates! We have so much in common, too...but the commonalities in our touring styles are impressive!

So...my final Tenets....

9. I promise to enjoy the little things. Hidden Mickeys. Looking around the resort. The things I don't normally get to do on my Disney trips!

10. I promise to be flexible. To go with the flow. To enjoy this trip - rain or shine. Hot tub or no hot tub!

Well, let's not say that there will be NO shopping; just not so much that it interferes with more important things like Soarin' and CoP! (you do remember that we HAVE to go on that, right?) I have a date with Basin.

I did choose very carefully! Let me assure you it wasn't a random flippant act of invitation, but one of much mulling and analyzing. You can call me Freud if you like. Don't you feel better, now?

I"m re-reading my Steven Barrett book, and all the Imagineers books. The force is with me.

You guys and gals have been very chatty and quite funny so I am hopelessly behind again!

Here are a few quick thoughts. . .

I would love to come but for now it is wait and see mode for me with no the likely answer but you never know! TK - Maroo is a temptress/enabler but I definitely think she will need your WS guidance!

Photography is my other passion so I am thrilled to hear you will be taking more photos! I am also a scrapbooker and taking photos of lots of things and notes at the end of each day helps when trying to chronicle your trip (either in a TR or scrapbook). Now the food picture thing I don't really get but I know it is a DIS/TR staple so have at it. (and I do think it would be hilarious to practice somewhere else)

So...my final Tenets....

This Tenet right here is the main reason I would love to go on this trip (besides the fabulous company of course). I love the rides, fireworks, etc. but to be able to enjoy the details of WDW would be amazing! My family trips are very focused on what will make DD happy with a few things for the grown ups.

You have exactly ONE YEAR (:cheer2:) to figure it all out. We'll be waiting... :rolleyes1 So does TK... WDW is awfully large, there's always room.

Photography is my other passion so I am thrilled to hear you will be taking more photos! I am also a scrapbooker and taking photos of lots of things and notes at the end of each day helps when trying to chronicle your trip (either in a TR or scrapbook). I scrapbook too!! I love it. I have albums for all 5 kids from to birth to about the time we left for here. That means I"m oh.... about 10 years behind!:lmao:
But I do take photos for the "someday" that we get back to civilization and I can work on them again. As for food pix. I'll be happy to chronicle all that we gluttonously consume at all the sundry establishments we haunt.

This Tenet right here is the main reason I would love to go on this trip (besides the fabulous company of course). I love the rides, fireworks, etc. but to be able to enjoy the details of WDW would be amazing! My family trips are very focused on what will make DD happy with a few things for the grown ups.

This will be the very opposite of what will make the kids happy. Let me assure you! Can you say linger over a meal? Ride the Liberty Belle? Have an adult beverage in the resort night spot?

Ladies and Gentlemen...

WELCOME TO "THE RESORT IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIS RIIIIIIIIIIGHHHHHHHHHT". (cue cheesy canned music)

Our first, and only, contestant is a group of friends who gather right here almost everyday out of compulsive habits and curiosity. They are--- The Peeps in DISBoardom (mind you, that is not boredom, far from it, in fact!) As a group, they are clever and knowledgeable in the subject at hand. They love all things Disney, and spend (too) many long hours right here studying to hone their skills and master their expertise. This gives us great confidence that indeed, our group will have no trouble at all winning the amazing prize package we've have to offer...

:cheer2: An all expense paid Dole Whip or Mickey Bar!!! :cheer2: (Prize must be claimed in person.)

All that you have to do is guess which resort TC3 (that's "The Chosen 3"- again for those of you just joining our fun) will be checking into for a week of fabulous FREEDOM, exactly 1 year from today!!!

Now, contestants, Look carefully. Behind Door #1 is the first choice in this week's game.

Here we have a resort of amazing whimsy and outlandishly Disney fun. It is called the POP Century Resort. This resort offers spectacular prices that almost any budget can handle. You will find playful scenery, and the World's best tie-dyed cheesecake on this planet- or so we are told (thank you to Great Biscuit for his inside slice). Furthermore, to keep you entertained there are several playful pools to relax and enjoy throughout this brightly colored, childlike wonderland.

Now, to be very honest, I would be very much canned from any real gameshow studio, because they all have their technical ducks in a row before they start taping the show. I do not. I wanted to post a whole bunch of really cool pictures of POP Century to show you how wonderful this resort looks and "feels" But alas, I can at best, only post a link to others' trip reports. (which I won't because it's movie night, and I'm missing Finding Neverland with Johnny Depp ) If you want great pictures of the POP, please go to Great Biscuit's and Mrs. The King's Trip Reports, on the Trip Reports boards (It's just 2 clicks away folks!) They both took GREAT photos of this super-duper "Home Away from Home".

So, this will be your Choice #1 to contemplate. We will tell you when to push your voting buttons, but for now, give us your opinions on why or why not you think TC3 should go or not go to The POP Century.

So... would you go there?? Would it make your short list of places to stay?? Tell all!

It is on our list of future places to stay. The top of our list right now is ASMu, only because of the big woody and buzz light year. Top of my personal list is POFQ. But yeah I guess Pop would fall in third right now for us-meeting the needs of our little family. Although if money were no object I think we would stay at AKL-Savannah view room. ;)

The theme of the resort looks really fun. Someone just did a scavenger hunt there which really showed the whole resort and would also be fun to do in the future. Maybe if you all have time you should do a scavenger hunt. Make your way over to Mickey_Mom's TR to see the scavenger hunt http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2269657&page=2 it's on pg 2

I don't know much other than that, and I heard they have their own buses to MK instead of sharing like the All Star resorts- correct me if I'm wrong here, just heard it somewhere awhile back. I think it's the top pick Value resort for many people

Pop Century is a good option! We surprisingly liked it on our last trip after two deluxes (WL & AKL). If trying to save a little money but still enjoying theming and lots of fun, then Pop is the way to go. I don't think you will be staying there if miss upgrade queen has anything to say about it. DD and I will be back at Pop for our trip in several weeks.

Mary said she rode Soarin three times so I hope the lack of crowds will still be in effect when we get there! Jordan (DD) and I aren't used to short trips so we have a lot to fit in!

That reminds me of the song from RENT. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x8iTeDl_Wug Now I can't get it out of my head. Such a beautiful song!

FYI, I'm not sure POP rises to the level of sophistication of TC3. JMHO What's #2??

LOVE LOVE LOVE that song and the musical Rent itself. But the song :thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

agree, knew POP would make the list, but figure it isn't where you all are staying, it just doesn't fit

So. Am. I!! (I hope you told her we all say, "HI!")

Congrats on your one year milestone! Yay!!

Good choice with POP so far... lots of advantages to that one!

Kathy

I certainly did tell her howdy from all of you here. Knowing maroo, she's probably thinking of you all, wondering if you'd like this or that, and how much fun it'd be if you were there with her, etc... I do know she's having a great time! She met up with tinytreasures and her DH and was having a lot of fun! Later they were going to meet up with starnightstarsky at Sunshine Seasons for lunch!!

I do think POP is a great choice; let's not forget about tie-dyed cheesecake!!

I am 99% sure that you ladies are N O T staying at POP. While it does look fun and we are staying there in less than 28 days:woohoo:, I have my reasons why you will not be staying there. I don't know if I am supposed to write them here or if my reasons would sway the other contestants. PLUS I want to win the grand prize!!!!!:lmao:

The great part about this contest is that everyone can win. So, I think it would be fine for you to list out your reasons; I think they would actually be quite amusing to read.

I think POP has everything going for it; but we'll have to wait to see if it lives up to TC3 inhabitation.

I love that the prize has to be redeemed in person. :lmao:

Alright, after having read the posts and all the commentary, I have totally lost my train of thought and forgotten what I wanted to say. But suffice it to say, I am here and I am thoroughly enjoying myself. :thumbsup2

I thought the small print would amuse you.

Now, onto brain fart moments... Remember that discussion we had earlier about children and their pilfering of gray matter? It's true, I tell you!! That's my story and I'm stickin' to it!

AH YES!!!!!!!! The one year dance.

In that case, this calls for a little celebration.

And when I celebrate, I can pretty much think of one thing that makes me so unbelievably happy, so absolutely giddy, so desirous of something just completely...

rum-soaked...

heh heh...

http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll289/tarzanskat/jack10.jpg

Enjoy, ladies.

And...for the gents...I apologize. Please disregard the copious amounts of drool caused by the previous photo. Perhaps even block the screen from your wives.

Or maybe not, the results could be...

desirable. :lmao:

pirate:

Well, now, that's certainly a party I would like to be invited to. He can obviously handle more than one woman at a time; so there's plenty to go around. ("Not that TK condones that sort of thing" :lmao:)

Happy Dance to celebrate just 365 more days til Disney!!!!!!!!!

Why thank you very much!! It's hard to believe that we started planning this last Dec. and here we are to our one year mark!!!

525600
what is that you ask? that is how many minutes until disney
and that is not much at all
just 525600 minutes until disney:cool1::cool1::dance3::woohoo::cool1::cool1: :cool1:
that is definitely a cause for celebration
Pop century would certainly be my 1st choice in a value, but i have a feeling maroo will have something up her sleeve as far as an upgrade. i think the wilderness lodge would be ideal

and just think... I'll be sleeping for about half of that, working for another 7 or 8 hours of that each day (depending on how quicky my little homeschooled students get their work done :teacher:) and DIS-sing another good portion. So really, there's very few of those seconds left to sit and stew about how mnay there really are!

She always has those upgrade wheels a spinnin'. But, you have to remember, those of us in my line of work are usually on a VERY tight budget. And just think. If we stay at a value, we can definitely splurge on all kinds of other things. I'm just sayin'... :rolleyes1

Woo! The one year dance! :dance3:

I know, I never thought even that would get here last December!

One year!!! That's so exciting. It will be here before you know it.

It is very exciting! We have a really busy fall this year with a new teammate (who just arrived yesterday!! :woohoo:) and a short term team coming, and travel for DH! So I know it really will go by quickly!

That reminds me of the song from RENT. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x8iTeDl_Wug Now I can't get it out of my head. Such a beautiful song!

FYI, I'm not sure POP rises to the level of sophistication of TC3. JMHO What's #2??

I'll to go take a look at that!

Hmmm... see, now I KNOW you'd be a great addition to the TC3 Battalion. You can spot class when you see it! :lmao: (As if) But, may I remind you that the POP CAN be a sophisiticated place to hunker down, IF you know how to find other ways to set your sophistication. May I suggest Basin? A little diversion at the GF spa? Cirqure? See if we stay at the POP we could hit all of those...

brookelizabeth is down there and twittering the same thing about the lines...or lack of them!

I've been following as well, and I know she's having such a great time!! I really, really, really hope those non-existent lines hold true for next year too!!! Wouldn't that be so awesome?

Pop Century is a good option! We surprisingly liked it on our last trip after two deluxes (WL & AKL). If trying to save a little money but still enjoying theming and lots of fun, then Pop is the way to go. I don't think you will be staying there if miss upgrade queen has anything to say about it. DD and I will be back at Pop for our trip in several weeks.

I think the theming looks so fun and exciting! Who doesn't love gigantic anytying that's Disney? The pools look so colorful and "groovy". Did I mention tie-dye cheesecake?? How about non-shared busses?? All very good reasons to stay cheap.

LOVE LOVE LOVE that song and the musical Rent itself. But the song :thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

agree, knew POP would make the list, but figure it isn't where you all are staying, it just doesn't fit

Now why would you say that?? You know what else would be interesting? To see if you can guess the other that will even make the list. HA! You guys are all doing very well!

NOW,

On our 1 Year Mark, I forgot to mention that we needing to do a little more self-promotion (as some have very accurately described our little process of marking the road toward freedom :rotfl2:).

Last month, we spent our time being Sergeants. This month, and I might add that by some of your very appropriate comments yesterday, this fits perfectly, we will be Sergeants First Class!!!! See?? It's perfect!! We are not just classy, we are first classy! But did you know that that rank is still only enlisted?? It is not even a commission officer's ranking! Next month, I'm going to insist that we are commissioned, because we want better bennies and pay!!!

Yes, it is true. RARELY do I share the good captain. However, I felt this was a worthy celebration.

And a promotion to sargeants first class! Well there are no finer, more deserving ladies than these! Congrats! :thumbsup2

The great part about this contest is that everyone can win. So, I think it would be fine for you to list out your reasons; I think they would actually be quite amusing to read.

I wasn't sure how the game was being played... So here I go.

1. From what I can recall... there is NO hot tub at POP. With all the talk of hot tubs, resting sore bodies, and quite possibly, clearing out and entire hot tub for cleaning, I see POP as hardly a possibility. Meaning there is close to a 0% chance of the TC3 (or TC4 or TC5) will stay here.

2. In your poll the people have spoken what to do with your found money. Close to 32% of people say upgrade your resort. And as any good DISer who has over a year (close to 2 years) to plan, seeing that poll day in and day out, has swayed your mind... even if it isn't the #1 vote getter.:lmao:

3. The TC3 wants to be pampered.... I don't see much pampering or relaxing going on at POP. POP is way to busy for pampering and relaxing.

4. Maroo, the QUEENprincess: of upgrades, would never let staying at POP happen. Yes you might initially book POP, there is NO, I repeat, NO way you are staying there. :sad2:

So here are my reasons that I know you aren't staying at POP. pirate:

I have an IDEA:idea: for your game. You should have everyone who is playing PM you with their guess. Then at the end you can reveal who is right!!!! (Just a thought):goodvibes

Okay, I agree. In the end, after all your "Doors have been opened" you should PM me with your "official guesses". Then I will reveal who is spot on, and who is not "In Sync" with the TC3.

However, I really am enjoying the discussion as to why and why not you are leaning one way or another. But, I'll let you be as clear or as vague as you want to be. ;)

Now, Contestants, we come to Door #2. Your second choice is the lovely, the very South-of the-Border, the oh-so-very Spanish-styled

CORONADO SPRINGS RESORT!!!

Come away with us for week-long siesta at the fabulous, mother-of-all haciendas. Dip in the pool at "The Lost City of Cibola" with us, or relax with us at the Siestas Poolside with what else, but a Margarita!!! Ole', baby!

When you are ready to venture out to the onsite entertainment, you won't share a bus with any other resort, and it's only a short hop, skip and jump to any of Disney's 4 theme parks.

Hungry? Coronado Springs has the most diverse food court of any of the resorts, according to most people's opinions!!! Got an itch for grilled foods? No problem! Pasta? Salads? The Pepper Market has that too! But if your looking forward to something a little more upscale, Maya's is the southwest themed, onsite full-service restaurant that can cater to your tastes.

Now, contestants, add this elegant, hot-tub equipped, resort that has all the air of sophistication able to stand up the tastes of the TC3 to your perusal.

If you are still unsure... Please go HERE (http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2232763) where you can find the most amazing pictures of this dreamy, Disney-esque resort.

Until Next time, have happy thoughts of this second Disney Home Away from Home.

CSR - I'm not buying that one. I think you will go value to save money or DVC or Deluxe to splurge. The moderates don't hold a lot of appeal to me personally and I think we are semi in sync with most things.

BTW - I don't want to steal her thunder but Mary had the most amazing, fabulous day today! She plans to write about it ASAP.

Interesting thoughts there, my friend. We will certainly have to see what our maroo influenced future holds...

I just talked with her for about an hour and a half on the phone. She has had THE most amazing day EVER, and I do mean EVER!!!!! I myself, cannot wait to see and read her trip report!!

CSR.... I wish we were back there right now! We L-O-V-E-D CSR last March. While we tour commando.. It was nice and relaxing coming back to the resort. The Disney touches are subtle and not in your face.. but after being in the parks all day, it's perfect!!!! Many people dislike CSR because it is a convention resort.... But from our experience it made it better. Busses were hardly busy, pool wasn't packed, Pepper Market never busy. We did see a few people walking around in business attire but that didn't phase us. CSR has the BIGGEST hot tub out of all the Disney resorts. It also has the longest water slide out of all the moderates. You have your own refrigerator- incase there are leftovers or to keep your beverages cold. Plus you get a coffee maker in the room too- and CSR doesn't use Nescafe!!!!!

There are new flat screen TV's in each room and there are sliding wood doors that separate the wash area and bathroom from the rest of the room. Instead of double beds in each room you have double QUEEN beds!!!!!! All the rooms have been refurbished over the last year or so. You can check out the Official CSR thread here--->http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2232763 Or the CSR picture thread here--->http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1849807

Now I have to think if the TC3 would actually stay here.....:scratchin

Are those YOUR pictures?? Seriously, those are some awesome shots!

Obviously, you are THE guy to be asking all sorts of questions to for this place. Yo' the man!

But, I cannot, no, will not, divulge any classified information to our most worthy contestants before the appointed time. The stakes are much too high.

Those are some amazing pictures of CSR! It's one of the few hotels on property I have yet to stay at. I think it could be an excellent contender for the TC3.

I love Pop for a lot of reasons, but I don't see you guys staying there. That resort does not scream girl relaxation to me. :lmao:

I'm thinking CSR is a lot more likely to be the place for a girlie getaway. I can see y'all lounging in that hot tub now.

CSR is definately would be a nice place to stay. We haven't stayed there, but we've visited there to eat for dinner. We sat outside by the bar and by the water. It was so relaxing!

since I'm talking to myself in Maroo's trip report - thought I'd join you over here (thanks for sending me the invite! :thumbsup2) and the next time you talk to her - I'm following her adventures too!! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

IF you are going for an upgrade - then you will be wise to book Pop and hope you get upgrade to the 1 bedroom - ;)

I have loved following the tweets and twit pics - it is an AMAZING journey - and i cant wait to read more than the 140 characters!!

Maroo's report got moved over to Trip Report - its no longer a "pre trip" report!

I need to start a pre trip report! :wizard: except I'm boring!! :rotfl2:
