LOVE the gavel! Perfect!!! I am so stealing it and editing it to the above post!

So...if it is 2 points, is it also 2 fruits?

I figured you were kidding! :) But I think Liesa was really worried that she had upset you and sent you running away from the DIS. :scared1:

I am glad you are back with us!!! :)

And :ssst: about Article IV....it should be changed, I tell you, changed!! http://www.anchoredbygrace.com/smileys/hammer.gif

If that is what it took to get me off the DIS... I'd be gone a long time ago!!!!

Some of you are really itching to know what we are going to attempt to eat during our trip. Here's the first of a series of sneak peeks of the snacks I'm dying to have. My motto (on some things) in life is "Why Wait?" So I am going to make a few now and share the yummy goodness with you. Please wipe your screens before and after for good hygiene.

At the very top of the list is frozen bananas. It is my favorite snack of all time for many reasons. The first of which is that it is one of my oldest memories of when I would go as a young child. I'm all over the nostalgia thing and really wish to Heavens they'd finish the Legendary Years of POP. Alas, it will most likely NEVER happen. Anyway, as GB puts it, I digress.

Besides bringing back memories of trips with Grandma and my family, they just plain old taste simply yummy on a hot day.

So, you start with this: (sorry, my pic turned out craptastic, but you get the idea)

http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll305/All7OfUs/PlainBanana.jpg
Here's how:

Take a big bar or 2 of chocolate. Use good quality. I chose dark, cuz it's the best!!

Keep your chopped nuts handy.

http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll305/All7OfUs/Nuts.jpg

Peel, and cut the bananas in half. Stick a long skewer through them, and partially freeze them.

Over a double boiler, or over the lowest flame you can make, melt your chocolate. I use a double boiler, because burnt choco tastes vile.

http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll305/All7OfUs/SpoonofChoc.jpg

Coat the bananas evenly, making sure that whenever no one is looking to lick your fingers copiously. Roll in nuts and stick back in freezer until frozen hard.

Enjoy! and count it as one fruit/veggie for the day.

http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll305/All7OfUs/FrozenBananas.jpg

That looks really good. I'd skip the nuts and crush up some M&M's to stick onto the chocolate!!!! :goodvibes

This is called gazpacho- a "soup" made of finely chopped veggies like cucumber, tomato, celery, green pepper, and good stuff like that, flavored with lemon juice, cayenne, Worcestershire, salt and all that, then chilled! It's super great with good bread dipped in olive oil and balsalmic vinegar.

http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll305/All7OfUs/Gazpacho.jpg

This sounds interesting but for some odd reason, I can't see Maroo coming within 10 feet of that!! LOLOL:lmao:

Now isn't that the truth! You would be in that group of people that says, "I don't hang out on the DIS, all of those people are mean." :confused3 Whatever?!?! I have met some of the nicest people on these boards and made great friends.

You just gotta have some skin and know that 95% of communication is facial expression and tone of voice...so if you can only see typing, it is hard to be able to really know what the person is saying. :thumbsup2

And you have to really ignore the trolls. :headache:

I was sure you weren't really mad, because I "know" you on here, but Liesa is just now getting to know some of you guys. She really was worried - bless her heart!

Now she will know she can kid around with you and you will just kid right back! :rotfl:

Oh Pu-leeeeze, People! It counts as one. I cut them in half for heavens sake. Here's another one:

http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll305/All7OfUs/Pre-Trip%20Report%20Pix/miscfromcamera025.jpg

These get made well, not very frequently, but more like sometimes at our house; they aren't hard, but do take time. And no you don't need one of those "crepe maker thingys"-- a normal frying pan works fine. We especially enjoy them with sour cream inside, but the ones in France come with chocolate sauce on them OR strawberry preserves. I suppose maroo will think she can get away with calling THAT a fruit too. I'd say not, but whatever...

And, in case they look like something you can't live without either on your next trip, here is where you can find them:

http://allears.net/menu/menu_crp.htm

This menu says you can also get French beer here. So, for those of you who can't deal with chocolate, then by all means pick up a beer instead. By the way, I've heard that beer is actually VERY nutrutious. Maybe we can all count that as our daily allotment of good food too. (Too bad both maroo and I don't like the taste of beer!)

I think I count for AT LEAST 50 of those "views"... Since I click on here almost every day...sometimes twice a day. So we may not have that many lurkers.

Having said that....

Lurkers, Lurkers, come out wherever you are!

Now, I am a fan of salty and sweet. One of my favorite park snacks is something I make and bring with me so that I don't spend quite as much money in the parks. It is a mixture of peanuts and candy corn. Salty and sweet and not terribly fattening. And I can just nibble on it in lines or whenever I get a little hungry.

Okay, I'll keep kidding around, but I'll make sure to use the appropriate smilies, but I'm hanging onto this veggie thing like a pitbull with a bone!

No way. No V8. Yuck.

Speaking of HOT TUBS!!! Oh my gosh. I laughed so hard yesterday.

Here is the story...I went swimming with Lauren, Lisa and William late yesterday at our friends house and the pool has a hot tub attached to it. Now, for those of you just tuning in, I like to soak in the hot tub.

*Rewind to October 2008!
I went to soak in the hot tub at the Contemporary on our October trip (my feet hurt and I was irritated and tired, but that is a whole different trip report) - well, they had to...uh...close the hot tub. We will just leave it at that. But it involved draining the whole thing. After I spent only 5 minutes in it and was a witness to the, uh, incident. :scared1:

* Fast forward to 3 weeks ago...
Then on my last trip to Nashville, I tried again to soak in the hot tub and was foiled again by...an incident...that closed the whole pool area. :upsidedow

*And now back to yesterday!
So yesterday, I was dead set on getting in this hot tub and soaking my feet!! So, they went inside to turn on the heat and came back outside...everyone was standing around and I was the only one in the hot tub...when someone noticed that the water level was going down at a rapid rate.

The hot tub was DRAINING itself. No one had any idea why? Did I push a button? No idea.

But there I was, with a pouty look on my face...sitting in the hot tub as all of the water drained out of it. (It actually went into the attached pool? :confused3) There ARE pictures of this crazy deal. Complete with my pouty face.

But they would require some serious...cropping (thank you very much TK!)...before they would see the light of the DISboards. But maybe later. Maybe.

I actually like veggies but she did ask if a banana was 2 points so I was just answering her question.;)

:rotfl: I am now hungry for a banana! Maybe we have one in our kitchen at work. :thumbsup2

The first two snacks have looked a little too healthy - they both have fruit. I was going to suggest a dole whip but that has fruit too. Maroo - is it you that doesn't like Dole Whips? Oohh - here's a snack with no known nutritional value - zerba domes.

I just have to chime in that gazpacho is a soup (not a veggie drink like V8) and is not as bad as it looks. Maroo I would think it would count as at least two veggies and is probably very low in points. I am guessing you still won't be coming within 10 feet of it though.

I am definitely guilty of many of the views of this thread. I click on it every time there are a few posts so usually at least once a day and sometimes more if you guys are being chatty.

Okay. . .enough of my stream of conciousness ramblings for today. I've got work piling up on my desk.

Well I'm back from my 3day mini vacation and I think I'm all caught up.

On our trip, I issued a Biscuit decree that entering The Land Pavilion counted as 1 veggie credit, riding Living the Land counted as 4, and riding Soarin counted as a fruit/citrus/vitamin C credit. Also vegetable credits were issued for adding lettuce and or pickles to a hamburger (double points for adding both), and garnishes all counted as credits as the meat they sat on sucked all the vitamins out of them. (Everyone knows meat does that.)

As to flatulence and humor, well, what can I say? Nothing cracks me up like a well executed pongu. I have a particularly explosive story on the subject from our last day in the parks. I also like to say things when I belch. Is that TMI?

ANYWHO, hope all is going well in Blankastan. Given the lively banter on the PTR, I can’t WAIT to hear the wile and Zany tales that make it into the TR!

BTW – just how much are you charging to omit embarrassing incidents?

ROCK ON! That is what I am talking about! Soarin = fruit!

Unfortunately...I also....don't like... condiments. No ketchup. Mustard. Mayo. I know. Sad.

A fee for omitting embarrassing incidents?? Hmm.

You know, our Constitution covered pictures...it said nothing about the actual reporting of incidents on the trip.

We may need another amendment! :scratchin

Hiya All!

Well, to continue on with our tour of "most likely to be consumend and enjoyed by Corporal #1 on our TC3 Extravaganza", let's add this tasty little number. This happens to be at the very top of the desserts that I dream about with mouth watering, Pavlov's dogs-like consistency.

Norwegian rice cream is the dreamiest, lightest, super yummiest dessert- and I can't wait to devour a large dish of it in the Norway Pavillion next year. I think the risk of a full-on gall bladder attack far outweighs not getting some, don't you think??!!

But they would require some serious...cropping (thank you very much TK!)...before they would see the light of the DISboards. But maybe later. Maybe.

I think the real question is how much can we extort to have things like this on our TR? Not how much we can charge to have things taken out. maroo, stuff like this could pay for our whole trip!!!! :lmao:

Hey Jen,

Yes, word has it that maroo does NOT like Dole Whips. Yes, I am still trying to figure THAT out!! :confused3 They are so yummy, and they will be here on my MUST HAVE snack list. You'll have to suffice with others' pix.

Gazpacho is tasty, but I doubt maroo will eat it. I'll save it for me. :cloud9: but maybe if we put whip cream on it??? :confused3

Click away, my friend! I hope we haven't tainted your mind too much with our crazy and ever so silly, (and slightly off-color, I might add) banter.

Like I said, I think it can go both ways, $$ to have stuff omitted, AND $$ to have stuff POSTED! Hmmm... just think of the possibilities! :rotfl2:

As to your veggie counting system. I think TK, maroo, and Jen could all go for it. I'm sticking with my gazpacho, baby! Pongus for all!

you know what...if someone will make me that veggie stuff...I will try it.

There. I said it.

Unfortunately...I also....don't like... condiments. No ketchup. Mustard. Mayo. I know. Sad.

A fee for omitting embarrassing incidents?? Hmm.

You know, our Constitution covered pictures...it said nothing about the actual reporting of incidents on the trip.

We may need another amendment! :scratchin

I will make it for you someday. And since you said it...

No ketchup, mustard, mayo- I love ya, but okay, that's just weird. I adore when Johny Depp says that in Charlie (one of my fav. movies, by the way)

As to reporting... that's a whole 'nother ball of wax. Since we are Soldiers fo the utmost integrity, we should report fully and truthfully---- right?? ;) Hot tub incidents included.

By the way, we be needin' to talk about this. You've been hidin' hot tub dirt. Who remembers that movie (was it Caddy Shack) with the floating doody (aka Payday Bar)?? Oh wouldn't it be rich??

I think it would really behoove us to put a disclaimer on this thread.

"Do not read the delightfully witty banter between Liesa, Maroo, and all their friends at 6:45am whilst your happy little family is attempting to sleep. Results could be unsavory."

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

What? It had eggs, flour, milk. And chocolate. I mean come on. Chocolate has flavonoids. Those are good for you! ;)

I don't think that cake has betacarotine or antioxidants though.

Ooohhh - a fee to omit embarrassing incidents - interesting! Maybe the loyal readers of this PTR would be willing to pay a slightly higher fee to keep and embellish all embarrassing incidents.

Did you just say you would try the veggie stuff??!!?? Liesa - ship some gazpacho to Mary ASAP!

Gazpacho comin' right over! Look out Mary!

Yes, that's what I'm talking about! You guys pay US, WE'LL pay for our trip, Then we MIGHT put some ummm.. items of interest up next Sept. My father always told me to be careful what you ask for! You could get serious amounts of arm flab (which you're likely to get ayway :rotfl2:)

Okay, I promised I would show you "Snack of Choice #4" today. I am doing this one now, so you all don't think I'm some sort of over-the-top health food freak who can't have fun! It is so not true! I love an artery clogging, heart stopping, flab producing concoction just as much as any red-blooded American. So, I give you-------------Funnel Cakes!

First get about 3 cups of vegetable oil heating in a heavy pot on the stove over a medium high flame.

Then, in a mixing bowl, mix up the following batter.

4 cups flour
1/3 cup granulated sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
2-1/2 cups milk
3 large eggs
Confectioners' sugar, for dusting

I cut the recipe in half. Half makes 4 pretty big funnel cakes- enough to feed the kids and I an afternoon snack. It should be like fairly runny pancake batter like this:

http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll305/All7OfUs/Pre-Trip%20Report%20Pix/funnelcakebatter.jpg

To make it a relatively easy, mess free job, pour the batter into a ziplock bag.

http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll305/All7OfUs/Pre-Trip%20Report%20Pix/batterinbag.jpg

Then, with a pair of scissors, cut a pretty small hole in the corner of the bag at the bottom.

http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll305/All7OfUs/Pre-Trip%20Report%20Pix/baghole.jpg

From the bag, squeeze the batter into hot cooking oil The oil needs to be very hot, test it by dropping ONE drop of water into it. If it pops and immediately spatters, your oil is ready. If your oil is not hot enough, your funnel cakes will be greasy!

http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll305/All7OfUs/Pre-Trip%20Report%20Pix/batterfrying.jpg

Fry in the oil for about 45 secs. to 1 minute, or until the cake looks brown on one side, like this:

http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll305/All7OfUs/Pre-Trip%20Report%20Pix/almostreadytoflip.jpg

With metal spatula, flip in in one big piece to the other side and fry for a minute more (or less if it's browning quickly). After you remove it to a plate, sprinkle it liberally with powdered sugar.

http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll305/All7OfUs/Pre-Trip%20Report%20Pix/fcreadytoeat.jpg

We also like it with apricot jam drizzled over it. That's fruit, right??

http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll305/All7OfUs/Pre-Trip%20Report%20Pix/cookingapricotjam-1.jpg

Enjoy!!

Yes, I"ve addressed this issue. What is up with that?? Maybe we should get massages instead??:rolleyes1

OMG. I heart you. So, so much.

The Many Time Aforementioned List For Which I Keep Getting Popcorned

On a Thread That's Not Even Mine

(But Which I Heartily Enjoy)

Let's start with the Magic Kingdom, shall we?

Dole Whip - Maroo, I know you're not fond of it, but if you get the pineapple one that counts as a fruit which according to Liesa does double time as a vegetable. Now if you got pineapple Dole Whip as a float, that would really be like two fruits, which would then fufill a two vegetable requirement.

Egg Rolls - If the wagon is open, you could stop by and get a vegetable egg roll. Heck, you could even get one with meat in it and it would still have vegetables. Surely that would count as at least one if not two.

Main Street Bakery - Quite frankly there are several options here. Carrot cake. Banana nut bread. Cherry danish. The possibilities are endless. So easy to fufill the requirements, really.

Ice Cream Carts - Now who can forget the frozen bananas already discussed. I also know certain ones have a strawberry fruit bar, so there you go.

These are just a few of the stunning options you have available to you to fufill the requirement. Without getting into actual restaurants (since I'm not sure what you're planning), we can already see if a fruit is a veg, it will be easy for Maroo to fufill the veggie requirement.

Moving on.

Epcot-

I note that Sunshine Seasons, in the land has several dessert options, including an Apple Caramel Cake, which would surely suffice.

Now, Maroo. Anything CS in Mexico is going to have lettuce and tomato on the plate. Problem? Solution. Two veggies, I say.

And let's not forget the margarita stand. Fruit flavored, people!

Boulangerie Pattisserie in France? See above mention of Magic Kingdom Bakery.

Liesa also mentioned the crepe stand, so we know about that.

Kaki Gori! Shaved ice in Japan. So nice on a hot day and topped with a fruit flavored syrup! (We're going to willfully ignore that it's most likely artificial flavoring.)

Norway - School Bread. It's got coconut. I'm calling it a fruit, which is therefore a vegetable.

Hmm...what else can I come up with here... :scratchin

Did I say that?? A fruit counting as double for veggies?? THIS I gotta go back and check! I may make an exception for Dole Whips which are on my short list of MUST haves. I don't HAVE to have a funnel cake, but since I was making them anyway, and I got totally jyped at Dollywood last year, I thought I'd put it here; who knows I may end up with one next year.

Egg Rolls - If the wagon is open, you could stop by and get a vegetable egg roll. Heck, you could even get one with meat in it and it would still have vegetables. Surely that would count as at least one if not two.

I like these! But if I do one, it'll be at AK.

Main Street Bakery - Quite frankly there are several options here. Carrot cake. Banana nut bread. Cherry danish. The possibilities are endless. So easy to fufill the requirements, really.

Probably won't stop here- but I'll share one with you in a few days that is similar...

Ice Cream Carts - Now who can forget the frozen bananas already discussed. I also know certain ones have a strawberry fruit bar, so there you go.

I'll save commenting on this one for later....

These are just a few of the stunning options you have available to you to fufill the requirement. Without getting into actual restaurants (since I'm not sure what you're planning), we can already see if a fruit is a veg, it will be easy for Maroo to fufill the veggie requirement.

I can say this isn't on my list, but I do make it at home quite often.

Now, Maroo. Anything CS in Mexico is going to have lettuce and tomato on the plate. Problem? Solution. Two veggies, I say.

Hmmm... this is a solution I can live with.

And let's not forget the margarita stand. Fruit flavored, people!

That's what I'm talking about! Good thing Disney has transportation. Don't get me wrong, I won't overdo it, but I do like a sweet something once in a while. And you can ask Mary, I do like a good glass of wine with my dinner.

No, no. I misspoke. I meant that one fruit equals one veg. It's like the fruit is serving double duty as a fruit and a vegetable.

Hmmm... this is a solution I can live with.

Maroo! Did you hear that? By virtue of your agreeing with this simple accord, a cheeseburger could easily be concerned fufilling of the vegetable catergory, since in fact, it also has lettuce and tomato on it. I'm sure this theory could be applied to many many sandwiches.

That's what I'm talking about! Good thing Disney has transportation. Don't get me wrong, I won't overdo it, but I do like a sweet something once in a while. And you can ask Mary, I do like a good glass of wine with my dinner.

Hon. Wine = grapes = fruit = veg. I see a win-win situation here.

Ok.

YUM!

But... I have only one problem with this. Ok, two.

First...what is "medium flame!?!?!?" We live in the US, remember? Not in the sticks of some foreign country. I don't cook by a flame? :rotfl2:

Second...There are two times in my life where someone tried to fry something like that indoors.

Both times required a fire extinguisher. And some new paint for the kitchen.

The first time I was tutoring a young man and sitting at the kitchen table facing a large window. Behind us the father was attempting to make "real" french fries. He left the room and I had to yell for him when I could see the flames reflected in the window.

He is an electrician. A lineman. He works for the power company and had one of those cool power trucks in his driveway.

The first thing he did was get a huge bucket of water and try to put out the fire. :sad2: You don't put out a fire started by grease with water. We should all write that down. In our brains. Very important. It spreads the fire.

He can't find the fire extinguisher in his house, so he runs outside to his truck, comes back in and puts the fire out. LOTS of damage to the kitchen. For french fries.

Go to McDonald's, people!

The second "frying" incident occured at the first home I ever rented...out on my own...you know...that first place you call home outside of college. :cloud9: My roommate decided to "make" donuts. Same basic story, but this old house had old flammable paint. The whole side of the kitchen went up in flames. But being the very smart person I now was (thanks to incident number one), I used a fire extinguisher the first time and put the fire out.

We had a lot of painting to do. And again...go buy donuts, people! Krispy Kreme. Shipleys. Donut Hole. Wherever it is in your world that makes donuts...go buy some.

But...funnel cakes. I can't buy funnel cakes except at the fair. Or Disney World. So...I suppose it would be fun to make some. I may try it. But not without a fire extinguisher.

This has been a Maroo public service announcement. Any future announcements will be preceeded by a very long, annoying BEEEEEEEEEEEPPPP followed by important information from your local, state or federal officials regarding an emergency. Appropriate instructions will follow. Now resuming normal programming.

We even make our own maple glaze for them :)

Fries? If we want those, we gotta make em. So, we do that once a week too.

The trick is to use a big heavy pot; and a medium flame is one that is HALFWAY between low and high. ;)

And, no, I think she meant gazpacho shaved ice. Even better! :lmao::lmao:

You know the weird thing? I fry stuff all the time. I've made fried dough (Italian), done my own potato chips, french fries...except I sort of misread Liesa's directions on how high the heat should be.

I'm ashamed to say what my first batch came out like. Thank goodness I made the whole batch and didn't have the batter! :lmao:

You guys were chatty this morning!!! (I am doing a quick drive-by post so no multi-quotes just a few comments.)

FUNNEL CAKE! :lovestruc Now that is a snack!

Liesa - they look delicious! Mary - They have them at Hersheypark. TK - making funnel cake for lunch - bravo! Almost burning the house down - :scared1:! Can't wait to see the photos of the house and the funnel cake and to read the rest of your list!

Good snack list so far!
One of my faves that I didn't see - chocolate covered rice krispie treat mickey heads
:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2 Dole Whips and Margaritas!

Mary - two things - I am thinking you might be dangerous to be around between house fires and closing down hot tubs! I may have to recind my invitation to hang out at my house.;) You also may need to rethink your stance on condiments - if tomato and lettuce on a burger counts as two veggies I would think that ketchup, onion and pickles count as three so in one nice little burger you get your five veggies for the day!

Yummy! We may just have to go to Hershey Park on Sunday! Rain or shine!!

I am about to ban myself from my own house! But note in my stories that I was not ever doing the cooking. ::yes:: So just don't fry anything or let me use your hot tub and we should be fine. :thumbsup2

And if I can't come, Muffin can't either! :snooty: J/K. Can't wait to meet you guys! :)

I have to eat 5 veggies a day? I thought it was four?

Not worth it.

I have to tell you what I ate for lunch...LOTS of broccoli! At least two servings worth. And some corn. And good for you chicken (you know, not fried, no skin, etc). You would be proud.

Mmmmmm funnel cake. Nothing like deep fried dough to make a fellow's mouth water.

And again...go buy donuts, people! Krispy Kreme. Shipleys. Shipleys! There's one of those by our house. I'm a HUGE fan of their jalapeno kolaches. MMMMMMMMM MMMMMMMMM GOOOD! Or as we say in Texas, that there's some dang good eatin. (Properly pronounced it's all one word of course. Dane-ga-deet-an.) Plus Jalapenos come from a plant, as does flour. Thus, it counts as two vegetable credits. Come to think of it, their cream cheese stuffed donuts are a might nifty as well.

Did you have a fire? Did you hurt anything? Are you guys ok? Oh no! You may need to get that alarm checked out. Maybe we saved your life!

No, no, no!!!! Don't worry, we are totally fine. I did not start a fire. I just had WAY too much smoke when I threw the first batch of dough into the too hot oil, it immediately created a huge cloud of smoke which then dissipated and hung in the apartment. I opened windows, turned all the fans on high. I'd say it took 20-30 minutes to get the smoke gone. Fortunately, I'd built a fort for DS in the living room, so he was able to hide under that and not breathe it like I was, as I walked around like an idiot, waving towels in the air.

And now I am hungry. Off to lunch.

It was the medium thing that threw me. Because usually for other items I've fried, I needed a higher heat, and so I made the assumption.

I know, however, have the benefit of knowing the absolute perfect setting for making funnel cakes on my stove is between 5 and 6! :thumbsup2

Okay, so I'm throwing in a disclaimer here.

If you are eating or drinking, stop. The following photo may be extremely offensive to the eyes and stomach.

And yes, you may laugh at me. I know my husband will when he gets home.

I think so. I have 5 or so more to go. I won't be getting all 9 I believe, so I'll have to rank them in the end.

THEN.... maroo, it's your turn. You can take a while to list out yours. ThePreachersWife has no clue of such things, so we'll have to let her discover that along the way for herself. One of those joys of discovery we'll let just happen as part of the magic for her.

Guys, can I just tell ya, I'm so excited to have her along as a WDW Newbie?? I so can't wait to see her face when she sees and experiences things for the first time.

What does WW say?? Is it 4 or 5?? And yes, it is worth it.

You arent' going to believe it!... but broccoli is the one that I reallly don't like unless it is smothered in cheese sauce or some other something to hide its nasty flavor. But I do eat it- just cuz I know it's good for me.

Mmmmmm funnel cake. Nothing like deep fried dough to make a fellow's mouth water.

I adore ANYTHING with jalepenos in them. Those kolaches sound heavenly. I have to bring jalepenos (canned) with me every time I come back.

TK-

You DID do very well. Yes, your first batch looked like something out of Mordor, but you kept at it, and in the end had some mighty great looking funnel cakes. Did DH ever get to try them?? Did he laugh?? Did they taste good?? One of the secrets to cooking is knowing your own stove and what temps those little numbers really are! Good for you! Now you can have funnel cakes whenever you want, and you won't have to spend $5,000 to get them.

Yes, my initial attempt certianly does look like it came from Mordor! :lmao: I can't wait to to tell my DH that description.

They actually tasted quite good. I had two for lunch. DH and DS finished off the rest of it in the evening, and judging by the empty plates, I'd say they were pretty happy as well.

And yes, no matter where you are, it's all about learning the stove. I can see why it's one of your enemies. Yesterday, it became one of mine. And I'm so good and knowing the normal stuff! Scrambled eggs. 3. Browning ground meat. 4-5. Hot oil? YIKES!!!!

First of all, WELCOME BACK! kimmylaj! We've missed you!

Now, onto Snack #5! I know you're all dying to know what else Soldier #1 is going to pig out on.

This one is found in most places, but it holds a special place in my heart at Animal Kingdom. Last year, we were practically baking in the hot sun, and we found MINNIE'S STRAWBERRY BARS!!!

YUMMO!! That's all I have to say.

I'd love to post a picture of one, but I looked for about an hour and couldn't find one anywhere. Someone help me out here; I used to have the link to the threads that showed photos of almost EVERY food at Disney, but I can't find it now for all the tea in China (and by the way, that's a lot!).

So just imagine, an icy cold, very strawberry tasting, but not too sweet, no preservatives added kind of deliciousness, okay. Imagine it's 50,000,000 degrees at AK, we've just ridden EE about 5 times in a row, our feet are aching, and we've just found a really nice bench with our names written on it (one of the ones made of 100% recycled milk jugs) and we rest with one of Minnie's fruity treats.

I wonder if we'll actually bring a picture like this home??

Onto Snack #6 (We are on Number 6, right?)

Most people laud the Dole Whip, but I'm all over the Float! I LOVE- no ADORE, and CRAVE, pineapple ANYTHING! Fresh is really great, but juice paired up with soft serve, okay yumminess is just gonna happen, folks!

Last year, all 5 kids and I had the rare opportunity to have some time all to ourselves, and we had to try the Aloha Isle for the acclaimed Dole Whip, but when I saw that they had a FLOAT, the idea of only pineapple flavored ice cream went flying out the window faster than Mary runs from zucchini!

We ordered 2, and they were so huge that all 6 of us could barely finish them! I guess I like them because it's like getting 2 snacks in 1. A double the fun deal, shall we say?

Here are some pix I found on the food review threads. Don't they look great?? (maroo, you can plead the 5th) And since it's a double-double snack I'll give you double the pleasure!

You know what...I am just going to do a snack a day until I run out, how about that? Personally, I will be in the world 5 nights in Sept and 10 nights in Dec...all on the free dining plan...before the end of this year. I hear tell it's on the snack list for the dining plan, so IF we are so lucky as to get THAT, this will be one I can assure you I'll be consuming!

I'm not ready to rank my picks yet- you'll have to wait until I have my list is complete.

maroo, just keep going with yours when you can. My time on the computer is limited somewhat these days.

That cream cheese soft pretzel does look tasty too! I don't think I have ever had a pretzel at WDW. We love Auntie Anne's pretzels though and DD has to get one every time we go to the mall.

Looking forward to the next snacks!

This thread is seriously starting to make me hungry.

Can you believe I've never had a the ice cream cookie sandwich or a cream cheese pretzel? Perhaps I should rectify that in September. :thumbsup2

Hope you don't mind but I am going to hijack the thread for a quick moment. I am going to Magic Meets with Maroo/Mary and they are having a photo contest. If you have a moment and are interested, please click on the thread below to help me choose a photo.

Thanks!

Maroo you can get zebra domes at Mara (AKL counter service) and Boma. I don't know if you can get them anywhere else.

Anyone in the mood for a snack?!?!

I have one that may surprise a few of you guys.

http://i460.photobucket.com/albums/qq324/mblaine/2010/snacks/snack9.jpg

Yep...a banana. :thumbsup2

And if I had a little bit of milk and some rice crispies, I would cut the banana up and have a perfect breakfast!

So...there ya go. It even counts as a fruit! :upsidedow

Honestly, my son would eat one for breakfast and be a happy camper, but I just think it's too funny considering all the junk we've been discussing.

I actually really like bananas! :)

I am single and don't purchase much fruit...because it goes bad before I eat it, most of the time. But I actually purchase fresh bananas because I usually actually eat them before they go bad. ::yes::

And put some sliced banana on some cereal...YUM! One of my favorite snacks. Even at home.

Of course...I would not actually use a precious snack credit on a banana...I would pay cash. ;) Like a smart DISer.

Okay, I don't even know what to do with this!!! I am laughing so hard, I'm busting a gut!! You go from Zebra domes to BANANAS??!!! :lmao::lmao:

See, you do like healthy things, but wouldn't you rather eat the banana WITH some chocolate on it??

Okay, I seriously think this needs some countering action. Like, I'm going to have to negate what you just posted with something so outrageously UN-healthy that it will just make all those banana vitamins get blown out of the water!!

Bring on the corndog nugget bombs!!!

http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll305/All7OfUs/Copyofmiscfromcamera158.jpg

Yup! Full of nitrates, fat, calories, absolutely FEW vitamins or minerals, but ohhh, so tasty good! So good in fact, that we chose to get THESE instead of ice cream across the street after Wishes. How about that?!

So everyone, head on down to Casey's anytime for walk on the fattening side! Then if you feel guilty whatsoever, maroo will teach you the finer side of schlepping bananas.

For those of you who care, or are feeling a little adventurous (or want to fill your house with smoke :rolleyes1) here's how:

Make this batter:

1 cup all-purpose flour
2/3 cup yellow cornmeal
1/4 cup white sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons bacon drippings
1 egg, beaten
1 1/4 cups buttermilk
1/2 teaspoon baking soda

I didn't have the bacon drippings, so I used shortening.

Cut your hotdogs into quarters.

Heat oil on medium-high burner. That caused some disastrous confusion last time we explored funnel cake how-to's, so use caution. Let's not be burning down our homes, okay. It shouldn't be smoking, but hot enough to have water spatter.

Coat each little doggie in flour. Your batter will NOT stick if you don't dust them with flour.

http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll305/All7OfUs/Copyofmiscfromcamera155.jpg

Then dip into the batter. Honestly I had a hard time getting the batter to stick even with the flour, so just keep at it. When you have enough on there, carefully drop into the oil and fry until golden brown. Like this:

http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll305/All7OfUs/Copyofmiscfromcamera157.jpg

Dip in lots of mustard or ketchup, and don't weigh yourself until you've done your aerobics.

:crazy2: The only hot dogs that we can get here are SO gross! They are sickeningly mushy  The dough is good though...I fried myself some dough and ate that. Maroo, that banana looks really good, but I do agree that it's WAY out of place with all of the other artery clogging food we've been talking about. Oh, why does all the unhealthy stuff tastes so good?

No flames, just, I dunno, shock? wonderment? a little hmmmm. perhaps?

And you're like me.... from strawberry bars to corn dogs, and you, bananas to that rich looking glory! Truly, that has got to be tried! Is that a goofy's creation?

Yum!!

By the way, I put a link on our first page to your first page of snacks. If you want to, you can link all your snx. below your cookie sandwiches. Which by the way, sets a trend. Ice cream with some sort of cookie or chocolate. Except that inigma- that banana. You know, we could save some $$ and do a garden grocer order and put bananas on it. Then you'd pay like 30 cents for a banana, instead of 1.50 or whatever they are!

I'm in love.

Wow. That is one serious cookie.

And, Liesa, I am so not interested in repeating the whole smoke thing this week. Although I do have to tell you, DH does catering on the weekends (at a banquet hall, he's a very good chef) and they have a fryolater. So he actually took your funnel cake recipe and made them himself there.

I don't know if it's a good or a bad thing. There are currently two styrofoam containers full of funnel cake sitting on my counter begging to be eaten. :confused3

Maybe I could have him make the corn dog nuggets too. :lmao:

Maroo, I'm with you, I love a nice banana sliced on cereal for breakfast. I also like to slice up a ripe banana with a little bit of soymilk and sugar, and that's breakfast to me as well. Slightly healthy, slightly sweet. :thumbsup2

A weekend of house stuff to do and I am behind!

:thumbsup2Zebra Domes! I think they have Kahlua in them (and I am not a fan of coffee or coffee flavored things). They are delicious! To my knowledge, you can only get them at AKL - either at Boma or at The Mara (CS restaurant - where they count as a dessert).

A banana and milk! That should not be on a list of WDW snacks! Maroo I am disappointed. ;)

Corndog nuggets - I have never tried those but my dd loves corndogs so we will have to put those on the list for the next visit. Liesa - I must say you are very ambitious making all of these things.

Candy/chocolate dipped cookie :thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2 Now that is my idea of a snack to dream about!!! Looks like a Goofy's concoction.

Looking forward to more items!

It's a good thing! But, I think one thing about funnel cakes is that you need to eat them right away. They don't taste nearly as good leftover.

I'd say save the corn dogs for Casey's. They are a lot of work, for something that doesn't taste nearly as good as the real deal. However, maybe a fryolater would make all the difference?

Bananas-- NO WAY, Jose'!! Soymilk-- By all means! Love it! One time, I had bought some multigrain milk, and my, then, 3 year old, had asked me for another serving of "monkey brain" milk! :lmao::lmao:

I knew the zebra domes had alcohol in them, but didn't know what kind... kahlua makes them sound all the better!

I don't think I'm ambitious, I have to make everything by scratch, if we want to eat it. Today, I was in the mood for eggrolls, so we made them. We can't buy the wrappers here (like the packaged kind in the refer section at your local grocery store) so we have to make those too. Ground chicken? Gotta grind it. Everything is hand done- and it makes them taste soooo good!

I think you're right! Goofy's! My last treat was a goofy's rice krispy dipped in chocolate. I think everyones knows about these so I'll just say it. My last snack, in the Snack Hall of Fame was this:

Had to. ;)

I don't think I'd try the corn dogs at Casey's. I know everyone really loves them, but it's just not my thing. For me, at Casey's, the deal is a hot dog, french fries with cheese sauce, and cracker jacks. That's my standard counter service Casey's meal. It must be consumed at least once, if not more on my trip. :thumbsup2

It is on tiggerbell's TR... lol

It is about the Podcast Cruise in 2010! December of 2010...

You would have lots of time to save up and the prices are really good for a holiday cruise. ::yes:: And you can bring HRH...and DH...and your Mom...and anyone you want! And it can be cheaper for all of those nice people! And you get free stuff because you are going with the podcast gang...you will see more on Jamie's (tiggerbell) TR.

I am going. But we can't talk about that yet... because then I would have 5 trips on my poor pre-trip report! And I don't have a color for talking about the cruise...I will talk about that next year! :)

So I just hijacked Jamie's...I am sure she won't mind. She would love more people going on the next podcast cruise.

Finally was able to upload onto photobucket. I doubt anyone will go back to that post, so here's that last snack of mine that I can't wait to gobble up next year:

http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll305/All7OfUs/RiceKrispyTreat.jpg

You all know that any good military is run with discipline, and, of course, everyone and everything is done rank and file! So to keep you from thinking any less of our disciplined outfit, our snacks deserve nothing less than to be ranked according to most likely to be consumed!

So without further ado, here are Soldier #1's "Snack Rankings": (in order of "most delectable" to "maybe I'll get it, maybe I won't")

1. Frozen Banana (in honor, if you'll remember, of Grandma)
2. Minnie's Frozen Strawberry Bar
3. Dole Whip Float (We need to redeem this company out of the DISboards brig)
4. Cream Cheese Pretzel (and I'm holding out for a spice jalepeno one)
5. Rice Cream
6. Rice Krispy Treat from Goofy's
7. Corndog Nuggets from Casey's (probably during a Spectro show or after Wishes)
8. Funnel Cakes
9. Crepes or maybe something else from the France Boulangerie

So, there you have it. I have no idea (yet!) if we are getting FD. If so, I may get more, as they look good to me or whatever strikes my fancy along the way. If not, I'll have to stick to one a day, as that's what the fiscal planning allows.

that's nice

It is so good to know we are corrupting the masses! :rotfl:

As for the rest of you guys...:lmao:

Jen -

You crack me up. If I could have lost my DIS hat...It would have been last year when I admitted I had... never. seen. Cinderella. That just about got me kicked off the DIS!

The No Way Jose - it counts as a meal...forget just dessert! Definitely not a snack credit. Literally...you would have to "pay" a counter service credit to eat it. :rotfl:

I think the No Way Jose is probably 40 or 50 points....that is just my guess. I have had to point these things out before. :rotfl: And it pretty much messes up my whole month! :rotfl2: That is worth about every snack point I get in a month.

And Leisa...you stole one of my snacks! :rotfl: I guess we can both have one! :)

And that's nice.... :welcome: back to the banter! :)

That looks good! I never saw a mickey rice krispy treat w/ chocolate ..... although last year in DHS we bought a huge rice krispy treat with a chocolate bottom with drizzled chocolate on top. I wish a had a picture of it... it was over an inch thick and about a 4''X4''. It took us a few hours of picking at it to finish it! LOL

Hey, look who's back!! I wondered if you'd be able to make it after I saw the photos from an ummm, "night in with friends". MJ looked like he was whoppin' it up there some!

I see loads of those krispy things with all kinds of extra un-necessary frills- for me just a swizzle of dark choco!

That is Oozing Goodness!! Your not the only one droolin' maroo!! I agree with you Mom, it should count as more that just one dessert.

jenb-she doesn't make them all by herself! she does have help! ;)

Bek, you are an AMAZING help to me in the kitchen. Who knows, one day you may be working at Narcoosees and serve me up a scrumptacious meal! :confused3

Yeah, I know, like where is everyone?? I think I counted like 20 people that are now MIA.

So, did you ever get Cindy's flick and watch her take out the stepmom and sisters??

Sorry for stealing your snack. You see, what you need to realize, is that every thing that overlaps between us, we just get more "soulmate" points. I can't wait to see how many more things we have in common, but won't know until we tour together :woohoo:

I'm here. Lurking in the shadows. Not a huge dessert eater, but enjoying the banter. When we were at The Studios Formerly Known as MGM, I had a hankerin for a jalapeno cheese pretzel. I waited in line a Min and Sids and was all ready to order when I found out they had changed the menu. The lady at the counter then told me you could no longer get said menu item anywhere at DHS. It was a sad day in the life of Biscuit. I may need a moment......:(

I love this snack! One of my favorites! It should be on both snack lists for sure - it is delicious and it's Mickey! (Or a hidden Mickey as DD would point out because she doesn't quite get the concept that a hidden Mickey is not just any mickey head that she spots.)

That is Oozing Goodness!! Your not the only one droolin' maroo!! I agree with you Mom, it should count as more that just one dessert.

jenb-she doesn't make them all by herself! she does have help! ;)

I am sure you are a fabulous help to your mom! I just didn't think she was giving herself enough credit for all the homemade things you guys make. I like my food easy! Now of couse crafts are a whole other story for me! I see no point in spending hours making a cake from scratch because they don't taste that much better than cake out of a box and canned icing to justify the work IMO. Now spending four hours teaching myself how to sew a dress for DD so I could make her and her AG doll matching dresses makes perfect sense. :rotfl:

When you come to Magic Meets, I am sure Jordan would be happy to watch any Disney movie you want with you (and I am pretty sure we have them all - even the direct to DVD sequels/prequels!).

I don't think points count at WDW! Plus all of the walking you will be doing should earn you a bunch of activity points.

When was this? That is just too sad! Do you know if it is still available at MK or AK? Can anyone else confirm? I LOVE  the spicy cheese pretzels and had one at MK, AK, and DHS last December. But I don't remember seeing any other flavors except plain.

They did still have the spicy cheese one at DCA last month. I had to wait for it because they were out and making more, but it was worth it!

You are so funny!!

Technically...we can't know how many points it has...I mean...It completely depends on what kind of ice cream, syrup and whipped topping you use!

A banana - I usually count as two points....

But then I have to really look at the ice cream, etc to figure out the rest... no sugar low fat ice cream will be lower in points...

19 seems a little low, honestly...for all of that. I wonder if that is low fat stuff? :confused3

and yeah...this thread...just reading it...counts as 2 points! :lmao:

I have an important announcement....

For those of you following my other psychotic pre-trip report - sorry for the duplicate information...:flower3:

Today...I received an email regarding my Sept 2009 Free Dining trip with my friend Sharon. The email invited me to call Disney Reservations and receive UPGRADE to SSR or OKW!!

:yay: :woohoo: :dance3:

So...I am staying at the SSR this September and not the POP anymore!

But...I am giving away a little bit of TOP SECRET STRATEGIC PLANNING here...but I am sure anyone reading this could figure this out without my help...

I was hoping for a Bounceback that would allow me to book a discount for OUR September 2010 trip! That is the plan! To attempt to get some sort of amazing discount for our trip next year and be ready with the money to book that sucker!

But...now what? Do you think they will still let me book a bounceback? :scared: Will it be a different bounceback? :scratchin

Another great snack!!! I love those! I must say with the exception of the "banana incident" and your aversion to dole whips that your list is in the lead per my snacking standards (cause I know you two are very concerned about my opinion on things - :rotfl:).

LOLOLOL!!! "The banana incident". THAT. IS. FUNNY.!

Okay, since we're drawin' up sides here on this snack deal, here's my thinking on that whole front:

Approximately 1/3 of the Disney experience is all about eating- in highly-themed (VERY important to me), well AC'd places with a bit of the walk on the wild side as far as food goes. I don't want to eat things I can cook myself (and do), but rather things I can't get "over here in the big sandbox"- and I want a LOT of it. I plan to FILL up! Hence, you be seein' some hefty buffet type places on our upcoming dining choices. Let's face it, soldiers work hard, and want to eat well. (Geez, I wish I had a saluting smilie! I think someone used one a while back, but I don't know how to save them, to use them again. Need. tutorial.)

SOOOOOOOOOO, having said all that, I probably won't be doing a ton of snacking, and when I do it'll be lighter fare, and also leaving the possibility of saving them for breakfast the next morning. You can't eat a No Way Jose' in the room before a rope drop, but funnel cakes are a go. ;)

Now that you understand the philosophy I'm using, my list makes more sense, right? That was all just in case you cared. :lmao:

:goodvibes

When was this? That is just too sad! Do you know if it is still available at MK or AK? Can anyone else confirm? I LOVE  the spicy cheese pretzels and had one at MK, AK, and DHS last December. But I don't remember seeing any other flavors except plain.

They did still have the spicy cheese one at DCA last month. I had to wait for it because they were out and making more, but it was worth it!

I may have to ask at the concierge desk when I get there to do some reconnaisance for me! They have technology, they can find them!

That might set the diet back a tad!:lmao:

Ya THINK?!

WOW I discovered your pre trip report last night and so logged on to read it all today (only got to page 2 before had to head home from work) and all i can say is WOW!!!! Editing to say, "duh"! I just realized there's link in my sig. I think I'll go get another cup of coffee now, okay??

I'm so glad you've come on board to yuck it up a bit. (I mean talk there, not be yucky, although some of us are pretty good at being that too.) I hope you will post a ton and help to make things lively!

ok so this morning I was bored as no one had posted on PTR's and TR's that I'm already reading, and 25 pages later, WOW!!!! How I never found your PTR prior, glad I did though...

I definitely wouldn't say amazing. In fact, I think we're all your average weak and leaky vessels needing to be filled up everyday. :thumbsup2 Being on here is part of my "therapy".

Timely release of classified info!!! I think people are wondering if we are EVER going to tell them anything that really matters. (As if snacks don't! :lmao:) I mean most people start with their dates and where they are staying, but we just have to be different don't we??! Seriously folks, if we KNEW, we'd TELL you!! It all depends on if and what kind of BB we get! So, hang in there, as soon as maroo gets back with the first of our freedom fighter's booty, we'll get you set up. Until then, you'll have to be marching to a different set of orders.

We need, need, need some sort of bounceback!! :wizard:

My 4yo diet is right now just no nitrates, no dyes, limited preservatives- and he takes an omega 3 supplement. Considering taking dairy out of his diet. He has Autism Spectrum Disorder- he is high functioning and the change in diet has helped.:) he is the reason I learned how to cook. He is my little blessing

I live on the west side of TN, Maroo -Mary I looked it up we are about 3 hrs away from eachother. So a DIS meet may be in order once I get more settled, I would love to sit down with someone that has been to the World so many times to help with my plans. If you are up for it.

If not, you should seek her out on here...she writes awesome pre-trip and trip reports and has a son who is also high functioning on the ASD. She has lots of hints also for doing Disney with that particular special need and has great stories, too!!

That is coolness maroo! Have you ever tried oozy-sicky-oh-so-yummy-peanut-butter-popcorn? It is SO good, but very rich and sweet. I can only eat a little bit at a time. Here is the recipe...

Pop enough corn to make about 2 quarts
Cook this to a rolling boil
1/2 cup of suger
1/2 cup of light corn syrup or honey

Remove it from the heat and add
1/2 cup of chunky peanut butter
1/2 teaspoon of vanilla

pour over popcon while stirring it to get it all smothered in goodnes.

This fantastic dessert is one of my very favorites. Our family eats it often when we watch movies. Sorry I don't have a picture, otherwise I would definetly post one!

Hey, my family (most of them) lives in Bowling Green, KY! Hopefully, my 2 oldest will end up at Western KY for school in 2010/2011. Maybe I can get in some meet time after we are back and settled :)

Okay, it's a deal. I'll make a dish from our ADR places (or hoped for places) and you can all guess where we going. But that's a ways off yet. We have way too much other fun stuff up our sleeves to wage war with first.

Okay, let's just ignore the fact that my daughter, while an almost straight A student, cannot spell. Oh yeah, let's also conveniently forget that her mother is her teacher. Savvy? :scared1::rolleyes1

But all's good! Where she lacks in spelling, she rocks in making THE BEST pizza dough! From scratch.

Let's hope she gets the spelling worked out before nursing school in a couple of years. She may write something in your chart that could be ummm, detrimental to your well-being. Maybe if she joins ROTC, they can make her do 50 more pushups until she can write "D-E-F-I-N-I-T-E-L-Y".

Bekka -

Your Mom is failing you in one area only...

Forget learning to spell. You won't actually write words to chart anyway...you will just click buttons! ;)

...the key is learning to use the tools out there for spell check! For example...on the boards here "Bekka" is underlined in a little red squiggly line because the DIS does not think it is spelled correctly! It may be underlined because of the internet engine I am using (I think it is Chrome on this computer)...but most internet providers have something like this....

anyway...when you see something underlined in red, right click on that word and it will usually show you how to spell it right! :)

Works for me...

most of the time.

And...for the record...you are very lucky to have such a great Mom and teacher!! :teacher:

All7OfUs
07-25-2009, 01:31 AM
I wish it were true that I was only failing her in one way- the truth of the matter is that ALL parents have regrets of some kind or another; like, I wish I had spent more time on this or that, I wish they could have done this or that, I wish we would have had this or that..., I wish they could have grown up in the US, gone to clubs or co-ops, made more friends, etc... The list goes on and on.

Generally, our kids are more than wonderful, and they have a good life, but let's face it, we all fall short in one way or another, right?

By the way, spell check is good, until you run into homonyms. There, their and they're have completely different meanings and the grammar/spell checks won't always catch them. You still have to know how to write. ;) My son always messes up witch and which!

As to your snacks... I hope someone comes up with something better than my last comment. That would not be so pleasant, I think. Although most people think that the fermented horse's milk that they enjoy around here is tasty, I think it tastes a little like what pee might be. (No, I"ve never tried pee) Personally, I prefer the camel's milk.

I know, let's add fermented mare's milk to the mix at Club Cool. It may be better than Beverley. :confused3

Maroo Snack - In Honor of TK

In honor of TK - since I am constantly bugging her popcorn:: popcorn:: popcorn:: about updating her pre-trippie or filling me in on the latest scoop - and because she has become a good friend over the past several months...

I am going to share with you the wisdom she shared with me before my last trip...

Let me introduce you to...THE PRETZEL.

http://i460.photobucket.com/albums/qq324/mblaine/2010/snacks/snack15.jpg

Looks simple, huh.

Maybe even bland?

Oh, let me assure you! It is YUMMY! It is buttery and salty and sweet... a perfect snack! It is sorta crunchy, but soft in the middle! YUM! And it can easily be shared! It is HUGE!

TK gave me very good advice when she said that the best place to get one is in Germany. :thumbsup2

So I figure one one of our strolls around the World Showcase - we are just gonna HAVE to get one of these and split it! (See, I can share food!)

Mmm, and I do want to share this, but as soon as I scope out the first spicy cream cheese pretzel, it's mine!!! The good thing about this one is that you don't have to eat it with a fork, so there's no chance of getting stabbed either.

Hi Everyone!

Just wanted to let you know, I just got done IMing with maroo, and she is at the hospital with Rachel, the girl she is supposed to go on her Dec. trip with. Rachel is having really strange, and very serious syptoms. I think maroo has said more over on her other PTR. Regardless, she is asking all of us to lift up Rachel, who hasn't slept in days, the doctors, Rachel's mother, Joyce, and herself.

When maroo is released from caring for her friend, she can join us again here; meanwhile, please pray for them, k?

I'm back! I just had to announce that cause I know you missed me and my verbose, cerebral and witty comments. (I was an English major so I will be happy to assist Liesa in her quest for correct spelling and grammar. Wait - I just think I set myself up to be corrected when I make a typo or type without proofreading - so scratch that last comment.) I have been slowly catching up on threads since we were busy over the weekend with house selling stuff. Here is my PSA - do not sell your house ever. It is a pain!

:lmao:

I think I followed your line of thinking and agree with it! And I do care! :)

Ooohhh! Soft pretzels! I love soft pretzels! Here in Central PA good soft pretzels are everywhere between the Amish and everyone with PA Dutch roots. Our favorites are Auntie Anne's - she's from Central PA before she went to malls nationwide.

Maroo - you may like it here! Central PA is the snack capital of the US. You can get more brands of potato chips at our grocery stores than pretty much anywhere else. The store I go to probably has at least 15 different chip brands plus all of the different varieties from each brand.

So glad you are back, in all your correct grammar glory!!! Thank heavens another spelling soulmate!!!

When we leave here, from the big sand box over the sea, we'll have to face the house-selling giant, and experience the grief as well. But that's not for a year and a half yet.

I'm glad someone could understand my ramblings about snacking philosophies and eating strategies. Honestly, if it got more complicated than that, it would be like trying to understand Obama's healthcare plan.

Bananas. Sheesh! That was shotdown like something out of skies of Iwo Jima!!! I told her, I can't remember if it was here in this thread, that we could just Garden Grocer those suckers and pay about 1/10 of what they charge next to the balloons and Mickey plushes made by our next door neighbors.

Have you ever heard of Kettle Chips? They were "invented" in Salem, OR, by a Sikh man. This guy was actually neighbors with my husband, who was a boy then, of course. He and his sisters called them the "Turbanites".

Yes, we do all want to come visit you!

Maroo basically has about 150 shots at snack trying between now and the time we go, so what does she care about CAREFULLY picking REALLY top quality eats??! (LOL! JK, maroo)

Seriously, that'snice is just too persuasive in his arguments against her choices! Stop that! or she'll never stand on her own 2 snack feet!!! Just cuz popcorn sticks in YOUR teeth. Floss is light, stick some in your pocket! Then when you're in line at It's a Small World with the others you can whip it out, and take care of your personal hygiene and act like there's nothing wrong with anti-social behavior.

It is a well-established fact that a common goal, and shared experiences can produce a comraderie akin to that of what a military company achieves. The disciplined training focused on a single goal, the unfortunate circumstance of suffering in a POW camp, or the daily drudgery of facing unfriendly fire day after day, can bring a closeness few know. These friendships can often last a lifetime.

But even in military units where fraternal bonds seem unbreakable, there are bound to be some bumps in the road. My grandfather tells me that ships and barracks are full of misfits and quirky characters (stop your drawing parallels right now! You know who you are!). He says that no matter how much you love your bunk mate or platoon pals, they can quickly get on your nerves, and because it IS the military, there is no where to run and hide. They are yours for the duration, unless you are lucky enough to score a transfer or get discharged.

Unlike these outfits, however, THE TC3, a well practiced mean fighting touring machine, was not randomly selected, nor forced into one another's company. They were carefully picked from several possible candidates and Providence led them forth. Nevertheless, even amidst the joy and mirth they intend to experience together, and despite the long, arduous training regimine they must endure together, and regardless of the unfathomable fealty they share, each will undoubtably want to go AWOL during the course of our Independence Week. (I know, I am married. I can sometimes hardly stand to be with hubby and kids 24/7 on vacay!) But, a tried and true motto to live by might employed here to emeliorate the potential for disaster-
When in Doubt, Spout it Out!" So, I propose to the TC3 that each one take this opportunity to declare some (let's be reasonable, I'm not sharing with anyone some things!) of our potentially irksome or laughable hang-ups and quirks.

Since this is such and outlandish suggestion, I'll start. (You'll get a couple a day, if and when my stupid field communication devices decide to cooperate (ie. computer/ internet))

maroo and ThePreachersWife must be aware that:

1) I am NOT a morning person. The bugles may sound, the sargeant can scream in my ear, but I can tell you now, I do not like to get up, especially after staying out until 2:00 AM.

However, there are 2 things that will soften the blow to this repugnance of all things morning; good coffee, and the knowledge that to miss rope drop is something akin to a mortal sin.

2) I confess that I gag when I brush my teeth. Yup! There you have it, with nearly 100% regularity, I gag- out loud. If you really want to know, I come close to throwing up too. No, I'm not bulemic- AT ALL, but if the sink is not perfectly clean it tends to be worse. Neurotic I know. For all you psych majors out there, knock yourself out!

And just when you thought you couldn't stand to know anymore about me, I'll give you another exciting episode of "Misfits and Quirky Characters" tomorrow on Confessions of a Soldier!

This is very funny, and it is also very true. Both of them. So are the next ones she will post. As far as the gagging goes, this is a sad truth, but fortunately, (as far as I know) she has never accualy puked. Oops, I just asked her, she tells me she has.

I confess that I gag when I brush my teeth.

I just wanted to let you know that you are not alone on this! I too gag when I brush my teeth, but thankfully, NOT 100% of the time, mostly only when I am sick or pregnant, which is kind of like being sick. And if I have a sinus infection or am pregnant, it usually makes me throw up. I've probably done it 5 times in the last 2 weeks. I also usually gag at the dentist. :)

It's an affliction that borders on way funny! My kids howl with laughter (as I suffer) every morning and evening, and sometimes they put a big ol' hair in there, just to be mean!!! I hate that! Someone's leftover slobber gracing the bowl puts me clean over the edge.

Time for another Episode of "What's your hang up??"

3) I am a horrible nail biter! Like an, all-the-time, can't keep 'em out of my mouth nail biter. I know it will most likely not only irritate maroo and TPW, but it may even gross them out, being that we will be in perhaps one of the most germ-ridden places on earth. Let's face it, handrails, fastpass machines, CS tables, you name it! El Sicko!!

It's a habit I wish I could break- really, I do! So, I hereby give you both permission to give me gentle reminders during our trip, okay?

4) My hair is falling out, which makes for quite a messy problem. I apologize in advance for any that may happen to make themselves feel welcome in your meals.

Thanks for the welcome back and I am happy to be on the spelling bandwagon! Kettle-cooked chips are the best kind! (unless you mean an actual brand called Kettle chips which I am not familiar with)

maroo and ThePreachersWife must be aware that:

So here's my take on the confessions so far (BTW - I loved the whole pre-amble to the confessions!) Not a morning person is okay as long as you will bend the rules for rope drop or AM EMH. Gagging when you brush your teeth - an interesting quirk but not a deal-breaker. Nail biting - that one is kind of gross so Maroo and the preachers wife may need to spray your fingers with that bitter spray used to train dogs not to chew on the furniture ;). My hair falls out all of the time too! It is curly so it tends to tangle and break thus falling out. My husband constantly harrasses me about clogging drains and the vacuum. So then I nicely point out to him that he is just jealous because there is not enough hair left on his head to clog anything.

Looking forward to more confessions from you and the other soldiers!

Hair. I will now add that to my list of enemies. If it is NOT the water then it probably IS the stress, which is kinda the point of this trip- among other things like reclaiming a small part of my real life independence and identity. But that's a whole nuther ball of wax.

Dear All,

Maroo asked me to post a little something here, since we have some readers who aren't on both of maroo's PTRs.

The reason maroo has not been able to be here with us much, is that she has a good friend of hers who is suffering and, quite frankly, doing VERY, very badly in the hospital right now. In fact, it is Rachel the girl that maroo was supposed to go to Disney with in December. For a more thorough introduction, you can follow the link in her siggie. Maroo has been almost constantly at her bedside doing whatever she can, and being a comforter to her mother Joyce. It is not looking good AT ALL at this point, and maroo would really appreciate your prayers for Rachel, Joyce, the doctors and for herself. It has been, as you can imagine, very difficult for her!

Also, maroo would like to add the Loewen family to your prayer list as well. Noah was a WISH kid some months ago, and maroo actually got to meet him and his family at the Give Kids the World resort when they were there at the same time. Noah went home to be with his FATHER in Heaven yesterday and is resting comfortably now and forever. However, the grief his parents and brother and sister are facing is very real and very painful. See that smilie added at the bottom of the smilie list?? That was created to honor Noah. Again, see maroo's PTR for a link to the Loewen family's blog if you want to know more. Also, maroo is trying to set up a way for DIS-ers to honor Noah in a more tangible way. I think they are throwing around the idea of making a way to give donations to the WISH Foundation in his name??

Anyway, in honor of Noah and because Rachel is doing so poorly, I will not be posting for another day or so. Kinda like a "moment of silence" so to speak.

But please, go ahead and leave messages for maroo, Joyce (Rachel's Mom) or myself here and I will pass them along post haste. I am talking with maroo every few hours.

Thanks!!

OK, my ego is healed enough from my first confessions enough to add two more. If you are not too afraid to read on, please follow me now; otherwise run far, run fast.

Continuing on:

5) I occassionally get winded. It's especially true if we've just visited Casey's. In fact, I have heard that I am not the only one afflicted with this malady. If I rip an SBD in a queue, I'm feigning ignorance. I'll try not to look directly at you, maroo or TPW, but hey, anything goes when you're in a crowd of 1,000. Just thought you'd wanna know. As for our headquarters, that's already been discussed at length in our Constitution.

6) Each of my children was born with half of MY brain. Therefore, I have very little left. You do your own math. Because of this unfortunate phenomena, I tend to forget things. Important things like keys and tickets, and confirmation numbers. I hope this won't happen on OUR trip, but it has happened before. Just for forewarning. ;)

7) Even though I don't like mornings, AT. ALL., I do tend to get impatient with people who take forever getting ready in the AM if we're trying to get out the door to a park. If there is a need for makeup, an extra long shower, or anything else that's going to make me miss the very next bus, let's skip it.

So chew on that for a while and let me know, if any of THESE are deal breakers; it's better to know now, right?!

I like that, a doctor of testing women's brain cell capacity at Disney World. I'm sure I'd find that most women are fully functional when by themselves, but practically useless with the kids, because they are always thinking about THEIR needs, not our own. My last confessions- after this, you can consider yourself duly forewarned. I cannot hold myself responsible, however, for things I may have inadvertently forgotten or overlooked. :rolleyes1

Now, for my final confessions, I must mention that maroo and TPW should be warned that:

8) Everyone has their "place" of solitude. For some it's in their bedroom, for others it could be in the yard or a quiet corner that no one ventures into much. There, they can center themselves again, and renew their batteries for the next task.

As for me, I love, adore, and cherish my bath time. I CAN take a shower, but, oh so much, would rather take a long, hot, soaking timeout in the tub! Imagine it, the door is locked, just me, my bubbles, and God. It's my quiet time haven, getting things sorted out in my mind and heart.

As I've mentioned in our last confessional, I hate slow-pokiness in the mornings, myself included, so it should be noted here that evenings will be tub-soaking time for this tired soldier.

9) Can I just take a moment here to re-iterate (is that a hyphenated word?) that I really hate my arm flab?? You're probably rolling your eyes at me right now, and asking, "Sooooo, why doesn't she do something about it?" I give you my word, I am; or at least I am trying. I have some weights, and I jog/walk 3 times a week and watch what I eat, but it is SO annoyingly obstinate!!

So, I will go to great lengths to hide my um, embarrasing anatomy, and may become a little grouchy if photographs encroach upon my efforts to find more "flattering" Trip Report material.

10) Last, but not least, I can be a little hyper, kinda like a 5 year old, when I hit property. Ask my own kids, Mom actually jumped up and down in the driver's seat when we sailed under the Welcome to the (insert whatever park we were visiting on any given day) sign. Skipping down Main Street? Yep, did that too. Sang in It's a Small World? Had to. Cried at Wishes? Uh Huh!

Can I confess, that a little piece of Soldier #1 never grew up, and it has a name. Disney. Being there takes me back to 19----, and evokes deep-seated memories of family, fun, togetherness, long lost high school comraderie etc.... It's still induces adrenaline, effects nostalgia, and emits emotion. I cannot help it or contain it . I won't apologize; just deal with it or join in.

So, I was wondering, what do you accually do at work?

Are you suggesting I don't actually work? :rotfl: :rotfl2: :lmao:

You think that I can't DIS and work at the same time? :confused3

Actually, right now I am on hold with an insurance company. They have refused to pay for our patient's medicine and I am holding for a "supervisor" so I can talk some sense into someone. If that doesn't work, then I will be writing a letter to the company and sending a copy to the insurance commissioner. And that actually works about 95% of the time I am denied the first time around. So that is what I do...I fight with insurance companies all day to pay for the medicine our patients need.

And I am good at it, if I don't say so myself. I am very nice. But firm. :cool2:

So, yes, I actually work. :) Some days I have to stay a little late if I have spent too much time on here.

*hold please...

*I am back.

Now, see, I just got off the phone with a very nice supervisor that approved my patient to take this medicine for a full year. :thumbsup2 She said she was sorry for the inconvenience. ;) And I politely asked her to call the patient and let them know she was sorry for the delay, too.

So there you have it...a glimpse into the work life of Maroo.

Now...what was the question?

Oh, yeah! Your Mom is definitely not allowed to drive this trip, then! I can drive and be excited at the same time and not run off the road. And I don't bounce. :sad2:

You definitely lose brain cells after childbirth - thank goodness I only had one or I would be in trouble! I keep telling my co-workers and DH that I can no longer remember everything for everyone but nobody listens! I will also volunteer for any studies at WDW.

Arm flab - arm flab is the least of my worries. :rotfl: I do agree that flattering TR photos need to be included. Maroo - are you listening? Just in case you decide to be photo happy at Magic Meets. I am the photographer usually - a) because I like to take photos b) that means I do not have to be in photos.

Acting like a kid at WDW - I think all of us have moments there which is why we love it so much. Though I don't think I have ever bounced.

Oh, hon.

This is my favorite of your "faults." But I don't see it as a fault at all!

I have this strong urge to go skipping down Main Street in your honor! :goodvibes

Glad you see it my way. Just so they know what they are getting into, but I have a feeling they will want to skip with me too :tigger:

I think we are all like this, at least a little. ;) We wouldn't be here if we weren't :rotfl: Remember, me, jumping on the bed in the a.m. (unheard of hours to DH) saying lets go lets go. I too dance along, sing a-long, skip, etc. Disney is my happy place, where all my worries, troubles, etc. fade away.... and I can just be:cloud9:

See, even mommies can have a hard time containing themselves. I think I embarrass my kids (teenagers, :sad2:) half the time whether I was doing something silly or not; so why not?? :confused3

Yes...I do need to write my own confessions...but first I am working on a little project for Magic Meets...and yes, I am at work. I am almost caught up...then I need to work on my little project....THEN...I can get back over here and talk smack with you guys! :cutie:

Hmm....? A little project?? Care to share??

Talk smack?! HA!! LOL! I can't wait to read yours!!!!

So, I was wondering, what do you accually do at work?

Oh yes, Mom can (and does) act like a 5 year old. She almost drove off the road when we went under the Pink Arch and onto Disney property because of her bouncing. And she was driving her sister's car. :scared1:

Okay, I knew this was a bad idea having my teen be posting on here!!! :scared1: It was actually not THAT bad! I swerved a little--- perhaps... Tattle tale!

Oh, yeah! Your Mom is definitely not allowed to drive this trip, then! I can drive and be excited at the same time and not run off the road. And I don't bounce. :sad2:

No Tigger action?? So I have to look like an idiot all by myself?! That's definitely not very fun. But, if you want to drive, that's okay by me; that way I can take the pictures and not have any chance of unflattering material. :cool2:

Like, the nobody listens anymore line. Why IS it that everyone expects you to remember everything for them?? Is it a symptom of enablement syndrome??

I'm certain there will be lots of flattering photos in our TR, but I can guess right now, that either: a) I will have already had my glass of wine at dinner (or my, how does TK put it?? my nommie Lapu Lapu) and I won't care how I look, or b) it will be of pretty scenery like topiaries who don't know the difference.

So, it has now been determined that Soldier #1 had approximately, 3.125% of her brain left, which makes for a very convenient excuse when she forgets her keys, camera and other junk in the hotel room. It also gives me a secure out, when being asked to do any math whatsoever. maroo will have to take care of that for us. Thankfully, she's an honest woman who would never take advantage of her fellow troops!

I don't think that #8 & #10 are confessions.:confused3

I think that everyone need their alone time. Hey, you can relax your mind and get clean at the same time!!!!

You weren't around for my TR but I 'confessed' that I got a little teary eyed at Wishes too. I was holding DD and we watched Tinker Bell fly over our head. She was amazed!

Then the part when the kid? girl? (whoever it is LOLOL) sings "And all our wishes.. will come true" I was watching DD and I started to get choked up. I think it is good for me to let my emotions out.. it doesn't happen too often.

Now we listen Wishes in the car and Juliana sings it. I can play it over and over and just listen to her.princess:

So back to my point (if I even have one?), I don't think #8 is a confession. As far as #10 goes, I think a lot of people get a little emotional in Disney. If you can't let your inner child show in Disney, where are you supposed to let it show?:upsidedow

I'm glad you sorta see it that way. Trust me, after a day in the parks, they will want me to both: have my quiet time AND take care of the undoing of deodorant. I almost put another amendment in the Consitution to the effect that there would be no Central Asian "I've worked in my garden too long wearing Chinese (non)deodorant" smells from the TC3; we can leave that for the public transportation here where I live, Thank You!

My point was, as far as confessions go, that I don't want to come across as a bathroom pig, but, well, I can be. :rotfl2:

My other point was that, my kids actually called me "obnoxious" when we first got there. But, then again they use that word for everything like from classical music to locals smoking in restaurants, so you have to take it with a grain of salt. Just wanted to warn everyone, that while I might not consider myself "obnoxious", I can get excitable!

I totally agree, watching your kids BE kids is almost as much fun as seeing everything for yourself- Wishes can make anyone emotional!

Here we are again; another month gone by, (hey, you could all use this pre-trippie all by itself as a "see-how-fast-time-goes-by tool") and it's time for the TC3 to give themselves a little self-promotion. Everyone likes a little of THAT, and we just happened to want to be slightly blatant about it. Why not? It's our trip, right??

For those of you who may be new our drivel, here's the drill. Each month that we get closer to our D-Day, we get to move up in rank. We started out as Privates, which is a farse, cuz there's nothing private about a Trip report in the first place. Then, we moved up to the illustrious ranking of corporal. I can tell you I"m glad to be ditching that one today. It sounds like corpulent, which means fat or fleshy; it also sounds too much like corpse, and we certainly aren't going there. So happily, we are moving on to:

Sergeant

Granted, this is still a non-commissioned officer ranking, because we acknowledge we still don't have base housing yet. Next month, we WILL have that, and we can receive our commissed rank status!!! We are excited. So for now, we will march as sergeants which officially means:

"... a senior role of responsibility acting as second in command to a troop or platoon of up to 35 soldiers. You will be responsible for their conduct, discipline and performance. You will enjoy a wide range of career options and typically requires 12 years of service."

I"m not sure that we will have responsibility of ever being in command of 35 people- I'm thinking it's going to be hard enough to be in charge and command of ourselves (see confessions of a soldier)- everyone knows there are no guarantees after a Lapu Lapu. But I do like that little bit about having a wide range of options! Hmmmm... EPCOT or MK today?? Shall I have sushi or the cheese flight with dinner? Choices; sergeants get more!

You think?? 35 actuallly doesn't sound that hard to find, now that I think about it :) They would all have to sign the Constitution though, and I'm sure they would have to come up with some sort of confessions! Then we could properly guide and assist them.

Self-promotion. Always a good thing. :thumbsup2

You Betcha!! And we never said WHAT we're promoting, did we?? Except our rank. I think we should promote how pirate-y we're feeling about this whole thing. Oh my darlin' Clementine! You are so funny!!

Please, bring on the shrimp dishes!! I CRAVE me some shrimp or fish of any kind! Yessssssss, Sir! And he doesn't know the territory! (I'll bet you can name that reference!)

I happened to be eating a grilled cheese sandwich for breakfast, and unfortunately, if I suck any of THAT into deep sinus recesses, I'll be sneezing something tasting akin to toe jam or stinky socks (not that I"ve ever actually tasted either!, I"m just sayin').

Maybe next time, she should train with TC3 (That's "The Chosen 3"). We could teach her some serious military-style anti-creepy-perv-Goofy action, or she could whisper in his ear the dollar amount that Obama's healthcare plan is going to raise her and her great-grandchildren's taxes- that'll scare him off too.

Yup, I had to break out my friend Webster--- he comes in handy when Jen is MIA.

As for staging an "I can't be responsible for everyone" rebellion, we should consider how badly things would fall apart if we didn't. My motto, "If you want it done right, do it yourself."

Maroo will have to do the math- I simply cannot keep track of all the names and functions of the Bouncebacks she keeps talking about! I just trust her that she can score us a great deal AND keep track of it all.

Our family is the 1/5 the size of a platoon. See, I can do simple-ish math; 7/35 is 1/5, right?? If so, then I'd need and additional 28 people to order around. I'll bet I can find a Brazilian tour group to tell they cannot cut in front of me- no matter how much they "don't speak English".

Congratulations on your promotion! :yay:

Kathy

Thanks!, Kathy! It just means that another month has passed by, and we're that much closer to being on our way!

HA! Thank you for attempting to justify my devil may care behavior. :lmao:

Anytime, love! Savvy?

Well then.... I guess I need to post more often then!:hyper:

When you 'guys' (ladies) are speaking about lady things, I usually stay out of it!

Maybe you guys can be in charge of 35 chocolate covered strawberries or 35 drinks around the world.

Maybe you can fly 35 people down to be in charge of.... I know 3 who will volunteer! :worship:

I don't blame you for staying out of ladies' "stuff". It can become rather inane. But, I do adore your idea of the strawberries. I think I could eat 1/3 of 35 (that'd be around 11- just in case you all are still doubting my math abilities) . As for drinking around the world.... About 1, give or take 1/2, is all it takes these days. But coming up, there will be a post dedicated to my astute research on the various concoctions I wouldn't mind trying if the fancy strikes me. (I occassionally hit the dining boards besides the TR boards)

Maybe you and Mel should think about coming down next year and joining us??!! There's always room for more DIS-ers, right?? :confused3

Just sayin...

There's always a first for everything! I'll bet it was the first time tea had ever been tossed into the sea in protest against high taxes at the Boston harbor. The Chinese were the first to employ explosives in battle, and the catapult was first proven to be a weapon of superior force in the battle at Syracuse.

Each "first" brought wonder and awe to the combatants, and undoubtedly to the opposition as well. In fact, I daresay, they may have even brought a sense of wonderment and expectation.

I now introduce you to the first purchases of the TC3!!!

http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll305/All7OfUs/DSCI04062.jpg

Yes, these have instilled wonderment and expectation. They conjure up visions of revelling in victory during our Week of Independence among so many other worthy soldiers, who have fought the long fight of securing their own weeks of freedom.

This occassion marks the beginning of perhaps a long string of laying in provisions. For the TC3 must be a well-outfitted regiment. No sloppy fatigues will do for these savvy looking soldiers!! If you'd like to know where we scored such groovy looking attire, PM us, and we can give you the lowdown on where to secure them.

Marching in style,

Your Savvy Sergeants

If I wore shorts, it'd be a scary matter indeed! Besides they are NOT regulation attire. I think a soldier wearing a giant target on their butt, would be a very silly thing to do indeed!!!

Earlier, maroo posted this update on her PTR, but thought that some of you who aren't following that might want to hear what she has to say about her time at Pennsylvania at Magic Meets.

Here is an update on how her time is going. Obviously, she is WAY more celebrity than I am- maybe there will be an ALPHA soldier afterall... :confused3

You can follow her on Twitter or at www.wdwtoday.com or on facebook at www.facebook/maroo.com She also says she will update her PTR as well.

Magic Meets

I am going to attempt a "live" report from Magic Meets. For those of you guys that have Twitter - I am maroo268 and you can follow me there. I will have lots of tweets this weekend!

My trip started out with a bang yesterday. I had a limited amount of time to get from work, to home to get my stuff and Muffin, and to the airport. We have a small airport, but I still have to be there early enough to check in. As I was leaving work I noticed that I left the inside light on in my car.... Yep - battery was DEAD!

How on earth am I going to make my plane? But a quick call to security and a plea to hurry had me jumped off and going in less than 10 minutes. Home. Get Muffin. To the airport.

I checked in and must have looked harried, because the nice lady decided I deserved a little pixie dust and let Muffin fly free. $100 savings! Woo Hoo!!

My first flight was interesting. A nice lady named Jasmine was across the aisle from me and she was petrified of flying. First flight. She was so freaked out that someone in front of her gave her a teddy bear! So I spent most of that 2 hour flight trying to reassure her.

My second flight was uneventful. Shuttle to the hotel was perfect!

I have an awesome room that has an internal hallway door AND a door to the outside so that I can easily let Muffin out.

I did not sleep well. Muffin kept waking me up - she even barked a few times when she heard a strange noise (and there are plenty of those!).

I made a "cheat sheet" yesterday for the WDW Today team (Matt Hochberg, Mike Newell, Mike Scopa and Len Testa, but he is not here) to use tomorrow when they have a LIVE webcast all day. They are raising money for Make a Wish and I figured they could use some information about Wish Trips and some neat stories from the DIS to help raise even more money for Make a Wish during their webcast.

So I walked over to the Convention Area today, but only found closed doors with big signs that said not to come in - Magic In Progress! But I was just about to leave when two men walked out one of the doors. Here is how this conversation went....

Maroo: Sirs, Do you mind telling me where I....

Mike Newell: Mary! I recognize you! (Puts hand out to shake my hand) I am Mike Newell.

Maroo: *thinking - OMG!* How did you recognize ME? You are exactly who I was looking for!

Mike Newell: I am glad you found me! I recognize you from your Facebook page picture. Mary, meet Mike Scopa (the man standing beside him!)

I shake hands with Mike Scopa. Mike Newell explains that I am the auction winner and we sat there talking for several minutes. Then they asked if I had met Deb Wills yet and I said No - but that I hoped to meet her this weekend.

But they went and got her right away to come meet me. She was so nice! They had a photographer take our picture.

We all stood around talking about how I got hooked on Disney. They were shocked that I was such a "newbie" and that I had come solo. Mike Newell even asked if my Mom was with me. LOL My Mom doesn't even know I am here.

Then Matt Hochberg walked up with his wife. They introduced me to him, too. We talked about the fact that Twitter was down since it got hacked yesterday!

We talked for a while. They are so nice!

You would think I would want to take pictures of them or with them...but honestly, our conversation was so informal and they are just people that I thought taking a picture of them would be a little (ok a lot) strange!

But I am here!!

In a few minutes Jen is going to come pick me up (and Muffin!) and we are going to spend the afternoon hanging out!

Then tonight we have a "Meet Before the Magic" party (limited to only 100 people!), a Celebrity Magic Tunes event and a Karaoke Party.

I am so excited!!

This may be my last Magic Meets update for a while. But you can follow me on Twitter and I will be updating that all weekend long. My Twitter ID is maroo268.

Hello all. I haven't posted in a while as I have been on vacation in remote Idaho vacationing at the lake of priests (also known as Priest Lake). When I returned, work and school board duties have taken my time:) But I have enjoyed the updates as I read through all the crazy postings....my I guess I am going to have to come up with a few shortcomings of myself, which I hate to admit that I have but everyone knows exists. I will think on those for a while....but I do love the tie dye clothes. They are so cool:banana: All is well with the Preachers family as all are home now and we have shuffled rooms to accommodate all 5 kids being back home. And we have a new addition to our home. The girls brought home a kitty only 5 weeks old that we are nursing to health. Interesting life we lead....

So my thoughts are turned to our trip in a year and I am in desperate need of it!!!! I am dreaming of the magical feeling as I enter under the welcome sign and plan my day with my old and new friends. I can't wait to sip a "rita" and dip in a pool in the sunshine!!!! Ahahaha the life of the women that have earned a trip of freedom away:)

My unique shortcomings.

1. I must have at least one dr. pepper a day or I get grumpy.

2. I must have sun and the hotter the better. We had 107 degrees here and I was the only one happy.

3. I am always cold.

4. The older I get, the less I am able to stay up until 2 am and get up 7 am and be happy. I do need my sleep to be pleasant (at least 8 hours).

5. Super slow people drive me nuts when I am ready to go and trying to get somewhere.....what are they thinking? This seems to be a unanimous thing....

6. I have a cough that is always with me....especially when I am physically active. It drives everyone nuts but I can't do anything about it so just know that it is part of me and my "thorn in the flesh" that makes me unique.

Ok, I will think of a million more but that is my list right now.

I have a few more pet peeves but they have to do with teenagers (in my house) and won't have anything to do with this trip!!!!!

Looking forward to reading more of this:lovestruc

Magic Meets was great! I am sorry you didn't come. Next year, they are doing a Royal Caribbean cruise for Magic Meets which is really disappointing to me since I live in Camp Hill, PA (two miles from where Magic Meets was held). Meeting Mary (Maroo) and hanging out with people that get the Disney thing was awesome! I am thinking about doing a PTR for my October trip and if I do I want to put in a mini Magic Meets TR so I don't want to say too much yet.

TK - I have a cute kid comment for you (well for everyone). So yesterday, DD (Age 5) says to Maroo about her Southern accent - "Miss Mary you've been here for two days so why are you still talking Mississippi?" :rotfl:

Welcome back! I have been checking your ptr for updates and pictures of the performances, and I'll go there after I post here. (Was my post on yours helpful about posting pix?) I'm so glad you had a great time; what an excellent way to spend a summer together as a family!

Only page 18- you DO have a ways to catch up. But if it helps, it did make a Table of Contents with links on the first page for quicker reading (if you want to skip the chit-chat). Anyway, welcome to the insanity, once again!

First off, welcome back!! It's been far too long since you've joined in!!! HA!

Glad you like the shirts! ;)

Concerning cats... we've brought home several abandoned kittens here, but they've everyone died! It was awful, and now my kids have learned to not bring them home anymore.

We are all in desperate need of this trip. Ritas by the pool? I can very much handle that! How 'bout a Lapu Lapu in the Poly??

Yes, it really is a magical feeling sailing under that welcome sign, and I can totally imagine us screaching like little children as we do so! I CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!!
My unique shortcomings. (You have some??!!! :rolleyes1)
1. I must have at least one dr. pepper a day or I get grumpy.

We better Garden Grocer that one; I'm not sure they have any on property... anyone know for sure??

2. I must have sun and the hotter the better. We had 107 degrees here and I was the only one happy.

Me too, baby! But I do get a bit grouchy if it's humid AND hot!

3. I am always cold.

Is this why we are such great friends? We are so alike!!!

4. The older I get, the less I am able to stay up until 2 am and get up 7 am and be happy. I do need my sleep to be pleasant (at least 8 hours).

Again, same here. But trust me... you won't want to stay in bed when a whole new park day awaits you! And it IS hard to leave when the park is still open. :rolleyes1

5. Super slow people drive me nuts when I am ready to go and trying to get somewhere.....what are they thinking? This seems to be a unanimous thing....

It sure does! Move it, people!!!

6. I have a cough that is always with me....especially when I am physically active. It drives everyone nuts but I can't do anything about it so just know that it is part of me and my "thorn in the flesh" that makes me unique.

I think you think it bugs people; it really doesn't. Don't worry about it! If you can deal with the freaking gag-a-woman, then I can deal with "Suzy Q. Coughy Pants"!

Ok, I will think of a million more but that is my list right now.

You do understand you will have to be one seriously dedicated groupie for this PTR, cuz (maybe some of you don't realize...) this trip isn't until Sept., 2010!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, we'll have to clear the room pretty quickly between all of our minor character flaws.

Especially if it means I need a slushie margarita to cool myself off.

Ditto, with the exception of Florida heat.

I know - I need to download pics and compare with Maroo. We were taking pics with both cameras so I have no idea who has what shots and who has better photos. I also realized that I should have taken more photos.

Homonyms are killers! The one that people seem to use incorrectly most often that drives me the craziest are effect and affect.

I've never written a PTR or TR so I am just not sure that it would be interesting enough for anyone to read. Though I do think I may give it a whirl and start one this week.

NOWAY! Your comments make me laugh hysterically!

I am SURE everything will be worked out wonderfully in a year's time. Maroo will learn to eat her vegetables, LeeAnn can bank her sleep, and I can practice telling everyone to hurry up every morning!! I like to hear, "Yes, ma'am!".

I can attest that Maroo does indeed eat vegetables! Well, I can attest to the fact that Maroo voluntarily but a scoop of vegetable medley on her plate. I was too busy eating since lunch wasn't until 1:30pm to notice if she actually ate them but I am pretty sure she did.

This drives me nuts, too! I'm starting to think I need to hang out with you people more often.

Except, I would take that opportunity to work something into it, like, :::coughcough"INeedADoleWhip"coughcough:::

You know, so they get the hint! ;)
morning! :thumbsup2

:rotfl2:

I just had a Forrest Gump moment.

"YES, DRILL SARGEANT!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

I'm thinking so too! You should PM me.... a year away is plenty enough time to plan a bigger ladies' gettaway. (I'm not kidding!)

It wouldn't take much for us to take a hint on a Dole Whip... like maybe walking by Aloha Isle? :confused3

I'm sure you guys will work it out, and we'll get to see some fun in the making. :thumbsup2

Yes, yes, and amen to "affect" and "effect"!!!! Verb vs. noun .... :confused3
Not hard.

I'm sure we'd all be very interested in your plans. Go for it, girl!

I want proof!! maroo, did you eat them??
