Favorite FOOD would be Kona
Favorite group EXPERIENCE would be Teppan.
And I would have to give a big thumbs down to Cantina de San Angel and a huge :thumbsup2 to Tangierine Cafe
You did Kona for dinner, right? Every review I see of there looks great.
Teppan looks like so much fun. I'm trying to think of a goofy picture to take here. In fact, it'd be fun to find a fun photo theme for every place we eat at; the same goofy photo or silly pose or something.
I liked Cantina, but I went in expecting your average sort of Taco Bell variety anyway. I guess it hit the spot.

Yep, Kona for dinner. Service was so-so. Not bad but...adequate. The food though...WOW! I highly reccomend the tuna oscar!
Yeah, Taco Bell. That sounds about right!
I love the picture of the E's at Teppan in the chef hats with our CM/Chef. One of my favorites and framed and sitting right next to my stove!

I PMd O Mari, and she says that I do get 250 pages. I was racking my brain trying to write a nice closing post, which I'll probably do on pg. 245 or so. EEK! That's coming up!! I guess a recap, an invitation sort of thing would be good. Any thoughts?

Taco Bell NEVER dissapoints. That's ALWAYS the first meal I get when I go back. Well actually, the first meal I had last time (out) was in the Frankfurt airport where I went in deep with a Fish Filet at Mickey D's.
I love that pic. too! The one in your siggie, right? Maybe something silly with each of our servers, or we could get really wild and crazy and ask for a chef to come out and pose with us??

Yep, that's the one in my ADR siggie. It makes me happy every day. And the one that no one was letting me NOT include in our ADR list!

Since Glenn is retelling some of his unfortunate, yet funny language mishaps, I thought I could share a couple of mine as well.
One time we were having lunch at some friends’ house on a winter day. People are paranoid about the cold here, thinking that any slight breeze or chill will cause instant sickness, so they keep their homes rather on the toasty side. After a long afternoon of drinking copious amounts of HOT tea and sitting in a 10X10room with 12 other people I was stuffy and uncomfortably hot. I’m sure that being 6 months pregnant didn’t help the situation either. As we prepared to leave, and everyone was getting their coats on, our host held mine up for me. I politely refused saying, “Oh, no thanks. I’m hot.”
Total silence.
Those uncomfortable darting glances from one to another.
The telltale snickers of some horrible language botch job.
Did I mention that these people were of the very most conservative of Russian Baptists around? Head coverings, no TV, long skirts for the women types of folks.
Finally, I couldn’t stand it any longer! I had to ask what I had done.
By now, we knew each other pretty well, and it wouldn’t be too big of a deal, right? Red faced and sputtering, the lady of the home gently explained that I had just announced to the entire group that I WAS HORNY!!!
To say you are uncomfortably warm you need to use an entirely different grammar all together!
How about this one??
One time, we were having lunch in a fast food like café, and were getting ready to leave. I had paid, but our server didn’t see that I had gone up to the register myself and settled the bill. We all got up and started out, and 3 waitresses came over and confronted me about paying. I was so flustered that instead of saying “too-lye-dum”- I paid, I said, “too-dum”. (slightly different vowel sounds on the front end, but I can’t write it right using English characters)
Big difference!!
I just spat out, for everyone to hear, “I already gave birth!”
Speaking of giving birth, I have to share my own funniest birthing story EVER!
I had gone to Thailand to have my 5th child, as the medical care here is nil. All of my other kids had come into the world ahead of schedule, so getting out was pretty important. Anyway, I was in the middle of the whole pushing process, and just as Anara crowned, my sweeter than apple pie Thai doctor turns white with terror! “Oh my God!” she says, “It’s BREECH!”
“So what does that mean?” I ask.
“Hold on, let me think”, she quickly answers.
I’m thinking that an emergency C-Section is eminent, but she sat for a moment, apparently deep in contemplation. After about 30 seconds, which any laboring woman will tell may as well be about 400 years, she starts laughing. Not just chuckling, but full on snort laughing.
After she composes herself, she says to me, “Ohhhh, I am very sorry! Thai babies have more hair!!!”

OH YEAH!! I totally forgot to post this!!!
This is so cool and awesome, and amazing, and I'm so stoked!!!!
Remember that letter I found of Grandma's from the Disney Corporate Headquarters calling her in for an interveiw??
Now we've found something EVEN BETTER in her attic!!
I had a 2nd cousin, my mom's 1st cousin, who lived in Burbank. I remember when I was 12 years old, him committing suicide- it was my very first experience with hearing of a death in the family, and being with my grandparents when it happened. Seeing grief for the first time made quite an impression on me.
Anyway, he was an animator with Disney in the 70's. Apparently his specialty was animals, as I remember some comments when I was a kid about him doing the owls for Bambi? When I was skyping with Mom last night, I heard my aunt shriek in the background. My mom says, "You'll NEVER guess what we just found!!! A polaroid of Bobby, one of his Disney time cards, and a dated sketch of Chip and Dale done by him."
Can you believe it?? I told Mom I HAD to have it, and she promised she'd set it aside for me. I'm over-the-moon excited that they will let me have this! A real piece of original art from a Disney animator who really did stuff for the older movies. Imagine that!
His name was Robert Ray, but we all called him Bobby. I tried to Google him last night, but found nothing. I've been told that many of the animators remained relatively anonymous, and only the lead drawers really got any credit. No matter, it's something I'm totally going to frame and cherish.
that's nice

:lmao: I think everyone would agree, though, that Mandarin is the toughest the world to learn. Makes Russian seem like a piece of cake, from what I hear. At least you tried; that's what counts. We were always told in language classes- You can't learn a language without making a million mistakes first.
I just watched a completely bombed guy stumble across the street and pee on the tree on our corner. It's -10 below out. I'd hate for him to pass out before he gets his goods zipped back in- frostbite there would be really nasty affair.

After Mel's water broke, we were in the hospital and the doctor was giving her an exam to see how far along she was. Of course both of us were really scared & nervous.... anyways the doctor was dong his thing and his cell starting ringing. His ring tone was a 'Nelly' song. Everyone in the room just burst out laughing- Mel, me, the doctor, and 2 nurses. It broke the tension and somehow made up less nervous. :lmao:

I've often thought I should write it up and submit it to Reader's Digest. If they chose to print, I could get like $250 bucks!! Just think how far that'd go at Disney. OK, not far, but a couple of siggie meals anyway! ;)
It was a short one. I could have waxed on for quite sometime, and made it a lot more entertaining, but pretty much didn't quite understand the entertainment value that a well-written report can have. Next time, I'll do better! Promise!
I think the Space Helmut is in my top 10 faves too. So cute! And all her idea! She had just gotten her beloved purple crocodragosaurus and was enamored with making him real by acts of sheer love.

I wouldn't have needed one day. 10 minutes would have done the trick!
Nope. It's for the dumb and ordinary. Although, botox is sounding better and better for these crow's feet that have mysteriously appeared this year. It's like my eyes are in competition with elm tree I see out my window to see who can have the most textured "bark".
Don't you dare! I'll personally come and spank you if you inject that nasty poison into your beautiful face. That stuff is nasty business. I don't know if I would ever have a procedure done or not, I've teased my DH by saying someday I would like a suck , tuck and fluff instead of having a mid-life crisis consisting of a divorce, and riding on the back of a Harley in chaps with some guy name Thor.
He of course just looked at me trying to think of which comment to respond to first. He finally collected his thoughts enough to ask what was a ......suck, tuck and fluff. I excitedly said.."Oh! (as I pointed to various spots and said) I would like it sucked out of here, this tucked here, and this fluffed up here, a Suck, Tuck and Fluff!" :)
 This was his face, and said well if it keeps you off the back of the bike with a guy named Thor wearing @ss-less chaps, then I'm all for it! :rotfl:
That would be nothing new.
Hmmmm, not sure how to take that....;)
Speaking of wine, I think I shall enjoy a nice red tonight with my baked chicken. Sounds delightful. I like mine fruity as well. My drinks that is! (Sounded kind of funny when I wrote it- so I needed to clarify!)
 I didn't think alcohol was leagal in Blank-a-Stan?
I have the list printed off, but I"m not sure I'd know where to go when I decided on one!
I'm with you there. However, I do think Cynthia posted the drinks according to the place that serves them.
Depeche Mode did a really cool version of Route 66!! Cyndi Lauper was OK...Depeche Mode was better though. You're all prolly all thinking what kind of teen I am. a weird one for sure!
Your not a weird kid at all, my son has heard most of what my DH and I use to listen to by way of either the CD's we've play or SIRIUS radio on the 80's station....I'd say for the most part he doesn't like most 80's music. But he does like to listen to the B-52's:, Depeche Mode, Oingo Boingo, and The Police. I'm sure if I played more of the music mentioned here by Ty he would probably like it.
For everyone but Liesa (don't want her reading ahead -- she'll get to it), here's the post in my TR (http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=34211695&postcount=460) where I mention mine, 2nd paragraph.
That would be a funny name to have! :rotfl:
Where do I apply? I mean, seeing how you're not in the job anymore Camille.
Dooowwwn boy!
So, you think Judy would let you take that job?? You do remember she works with knives, right???
She's got a good point here Glenn. I like the way you think Liesa. :thumbsup2
depeche mode.....:lovestruc I have their cd in my mom-mobile.......
you may now continue...
 Oh, Matron of the Mini-Van! :worship: Winkers, what other CD's do you listen to in your Mini?
As long as we're aging ourselves, let's also just mention The Cure, Fleetwood Mac (some of their 80's stuff was pretty good), and Elton John. :rolleyes1
Now, I've continued and feel rather oldish.
Love all of them!! And I don't feel the slightest bit old saying it. I listened to a lot of cure in my day, I never went as far as to cut my hair short to model after the New Wave look, but loved the music! Like Fleetwood Mac, I think I like Stevie better on her own. I did get to see Elton John in concert a few years back. He's not that impressive in person these days, not like his crazy ways back in the day. No costume changes into his outlandish outfits, just a piano on the stage and a cooler (big ugly blue one) off to the side with lots of Diet Coke. He was still good.....just not what I was expecting from him considering he's always said he's more a of a performer rather than a musician :confused3, I wonder what it takes to be a musician in his eyes?
If I start aging myself. Okay I was the Beatles ERA!!!!! Paul McCartney all the way!!!!
Hmmmmm, a Brit who loves the first British boy band. Now who would have thunk it?!? :rotfl: ;) Just messin with you Rose.
The answer to the last clue was found IN THE TEXT, but was cleverly disguised. Now does it pop out at you?

Columbia Harbor HouseLiked eating here. I liked eating upstairs where it was a little more away from the crowds, and it's a lot more quite, food wasn't to bad for fast food. Cosmic Rays had better IMO
Riverside Food Mill at POR
Caseys
Flame TreePlanned to eat here next visit
'OhanaPlan to eat here for our next visit too.
Afternoon Tea at the Grand Flo.
Either Cantina de San Angel OR Tangierine CafePlease eat at Tangierine! San Angel's food was nasty! I think living in Texas has spoiled me.
Pecos Bills
Now that we've gotten them all on one page, tell everyone, from this list, which one would be, is, or has been your favorite and why. Was it the food, service, theming, best memory?? If you could pick one place which one would it be? Are there certain things we should know before going??
Wish I could help you out more in this area, you've picked just about every place I haven't eatin at! I loved Boma's! There are so many wonderful things to try! I loved eating at Crystal Palace for breakfast, again so many choices to pick from. This was one cool buffet for breakfast! To bad you won't be eating here this time. If you happen to change your mind it's totally worth it, even if it's just for the decor. We had our ADR's before the park opened in the morning and it was pretty great to come down Main St. without the crowds, also picture opps. infront of the Castle wasn't to shabby. :thumbsup2
OH YEAH!! I totally forgot to post this!!!
A real piece of original art from a Disney animator who really did stuff for the older movies. Imagine that!
When I was in China my friends tried to teach me Mandarin. They told me NOT to try and speak in Chinese anymore....
:rotfl: That's funny Jordy. I know just how you feel, I think my Spanish teacher was about to kick me out of class for not being able to roll my r's.
I think everyone would agree, though, that Mandarin is the toughest the world to learn. Makes Russian seem like a piece of cake, from what I hear. At least you tried; that's what counts. We were always told in language classes- You can't learn a language without making a million mistakes first.
So how many languages do you speak Liesa?
I just watched a completely bombed guy stumble across the street and pee on the tree on our corner. It's -10 below out. I'd hate for him to pass out before he gets his goods zipped back in- frostbite there would be really nasty affair.
:rotfl: Poor guy, I guess that would be one of the down falls to drinking and peeing in the cold.
Morning, Camille! So glad you had a decent night's sleep! I wouldn't go as far as saying a decent nights sleep, just a decent hour for turning in. I just hope I can stay awake the rest of the day so I can do it again tonight.
Jen, I just got off the phone with mom and dad. They have to run some errands today, but promised later on they'd go downstairs and find the box, scan the sketch and e-mail it to me. I'll have to upload it when I get it and post. So excited to see it!
Can't wait to see it! This is totally cool!

Your not a weird kid at all, my son has heard most of what my DH and I use to listen to by way of either the CD's we've play or SIRUS radio on the 80's station....I'd say for the most part he doesn't like most 80's music. But he does like to listen to the B-52's:, Depeche Mode, Oingo Boingo, and The Police. I'm sure if I played more of the music mentioned here by Ty he would probably like it.
I LOVE my Sirius radio, and have turned the kids on to the Beatles (well, that was long before I got the Sirius), the Police, Peter Gabriel, the Eagles, on and on. But they still occasionally say, "can we see what's on channel 1" (the current Top 40 channel).
Dooowwwn boy!
She's got a good point here Glenn. I like the way you think Liesa. :thumbsup2
Okay, calming down....

I thought it'd be a good idea to list all of our mess hall stops in one place, just to make sure everyone's on the same memo. Let's take a look:
Biergarten
Teppan Edo
California Grill My favorite place on property!!! My always meal is heavenly: Sonoma Goat Cheese Ravioli, Grilled Pork Tenderloin, & Valrhona Chocolate Cake... Yummy!!
Kona AND Kona Sushi Bar- I found this just okay, although the boys loved the sticky wings. I think I didn't order well because everyone else liked it. (I didn't try the sushi bar, but it sounds good to me.)
Beaches n Cream- Yummy good ol' American food
Sanaa
Jiko
Starring Rolls
Wolfgang Puck Express
Boma (notice the AK Trifecta)
Columbia Harbor House
Riverside Food Mill at POR
Caseys- mmmm...love that toppings bar! Nothing better that artificial cheese sauce!
Flame Tree
'Ohana- for meat lovers! the shrimp are awesome!
Afternoon Tea at the Grand Flo.
Either Cantina de San Angel OR Tangierine Cafe
Pecos Bills- again with the toppings bar!!
'Ohana was our first TS restaurant so it has great memories for me. Ask to sit in the main dining room so you can see all the goings-on. My kids loved the hula lessons!
I'm jealous of your AKL trifecta. I've never been there, and I'm determined to go and experience it on my next trip!

 Oh, Matron of the Mini-Van! :worship: Winkers, what other CD's do you listen to in your Mini?
I just found out that my DFIL has accepted our offer for him to live with us in the house that we'll hopefully end up buying from him. God willing. My DH will still need to find a job in Salem, (not a good time to be moving back!!) but we're all really excited about his!! Speaking of mini vans, we'll probably end up with that too.
Who remembers Adam and the Ants??
I think Paul McCartney was the best concert I went to. Or the Who? I can't decide. Spyro Gyra was pretty good too.

Boma's sounds heavenly to me. After reading Glenn's review I'm dying for some curry seafood soup RIGHT NOW!
:rotfl: That's funny Jordy. I know just how you feel, I think my Spanish teacher was about to kick me out of class for not being able to roll my r's.
Our alphabet has 44 characters/sounds. Super easy to read since every letter has only one sound. But a lot of them are really hard to make. One is a g, but in the back of the throat. Someday if we ever meet, it'd be fun to speak some for you! :goodvibes
:rotfl: Poor guy, I guess that would be one of the down falls to drinking and peeing in the cold.
If it weren't so flippin cold out, it would have been hilarious. I was just afraid he was going to pass out in front of my house. One day, a guy did pass out by our tree, and my DH had to literally drag him home with another guy and myself. It was pathetic to drag him as far as the front stoop and drop him there in front of his wife and kids. I cried for them that night. :sad1: We see drunks passed out in the bazaars a lot. Less since we first got here in 2001. I think since there is more work there is less public drunkeness.

The music today seems so focused on depressing themes. Why am I lonely? What is the point of life? etc... blech.

I don't know how to capture all your embedded comments, but I definitely remember your humdinger of a review for Cali!! MMMmmmm! I am so up in the air on what to order here! The ravioli looks so good, but I really think I'm going to end up with sushi, a cheese plate and some dessert. I know that sounds like a disgusting combo, but I don't know, I've heard good things about those items. Maybe since I'm getting sushi at the Kona bar late one night after swimming, I should go for a flatbread instead. :confused3 Decisions, decisions.
I may do a whole update (in my TR) on comparing and contrasting these three. ;)

Well, poopdoodle. I had really hoped my parents would send that sketch to me before I really had to throw the towel in, and went to bed. If it doesn't get here by tomorrow AM, I'll e-mail them and bug. Alas, it is 2:00 AM, and the puppies whine at the door for food around 9:00, so I better hit the sack.
Meanwhile, a favor. We are winding down in this thread and I need some ideas on some last minute things to post. Here are my ideas, but really want you all to chime in too!
***For a long time, even before GB posted his, I"ve wanted to give a revue of reviews so to speak. A listing of the TRs and PTR's that have been particularly fun for me to follow.
***A summary of this thread with the highlights.
***The 2 last installments of the Retro Report.
***And a GREAT Big Follow us over invitation.
Any more ideas?? What am I missing?? As soon as we start the new thread I will start posting our itineraries/daily plans. Also coming up: a series of posts on the souvies we'll be on the look out for, travel stuff, more gifty posts, all that fun stuff that we can finally do, now that we're closer!! GET THIS, we can make our ADRs in a little over 1 MONTH!!! Is that exciting or what?!!
Looking forward to being with you tomorrow!

I know, I KNOW!! I had just tucked in and thought I heard the puppies whining at the door. I think my mind is starting to play ugly tricks on me!!! They NEED TO GO!!! Seriously, please pray! I can't handle the extra stress and work with DH gone. I put an ad in the paper, that goes out tomorrow. I really hope they disappear. But it will be hard in the winter to get rid of them. Even for free.

WOWWW!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You are so not going to believe this!! I had JUST finished posting my first post on YOUR thread, and came back here, and ok, I'm officially weirded out. We posted on each other's for the first time- AT THE SAME TIME!!
Welcome!!!!!!! :woohoo: Seriously excited to have you here! I am very challenged by your personal challenge. I need to do something too, but sadly I live in a place that makes exercise difficult and unmotivating. Hopefully, I am going to really DO something when I get back and have sidewalks to be on again. Where there are any, mine are used for spitting and peeing on.
Take your time. This thread is a lot like Jordan's. Long and busy. Don't let it fool you! We joke a lot and are a friendly buncy!! I know you'll fit right in!!! :thumbsup2

I understand your dilemma. When I lived in Australia, we lived in the outback. It was stinkin' hot almost all year long!! I'd have to wait until night time to walk. Thankfully, I had a friend to walk with me and we lived in a decent area.
And now - with my husband gone on deployment - if it wasn't for my treadmill, I'd be stuck trying to follow way-too-fit-women doing aerobics on my TV. I'm not real good with that. :rolleyes1
I know I need to go back and will probably find out the answers to these questions, but...
When do you move back? Are you guys military?

Aww, so sad I missed the end of the RD.
So awesome that you are related to a real Disney animator - can't wait to see the sketch! :thumbsup2
Also, loving the language mishaps. My Dh is from Mexico and I made the same hot/horny mistake in Spanish when I was first learning to speak it. I also had the habit of adding "o" or "a" to the end of English words to make them Spanish. One day, I was trying to say that I was embarrassed, so naturally I made it "embarrasseda". That means pregnant. If I was embarrassed before, imagine how I felt after DH explained my mistake. This was before we were married, only dating a few months, and his father was in the car. :scared1:
Your choice at Kona actually sounds delicious to me as those are some of my favorite foods. I think I had some kind of Tuna with green tomatos there back in 2008 that was amazing too!
As for the rest of your choices, here's my thoughts:
Biergarten - haven't been, but would love to try - looks so festive and fun!
Teppan Edo - went in 2005 under previous ownership, not impressed, local Japanese places were more authentic, but it was fun
California Grill - would LOVE to go there, but have never been!
Kona AND Kona Sushi Bar - Loved Kona, so delicious! See above for more comments.
Beaches n Cream - have never been, but what's not to like about ice cream?!
Sanaa - this wasn't open yet the last time I was at WDW
Jiko - hands down the BEST meal of my life, the filet with Macaroni. It was melt-in-your-mouth good. Seriously, the best thing I have ever eaten. I could go on about it for hours. I am drooling a little now just thinking about it.
Starring Rolls - had coffee here with DH before the parade, nice place for a rest
Wolfgang Puck Express - pretty good, much shorter line than EOS on a Saturday
Boma (notice the AK Trifecta) - I like exotic foods, but hadn't had African before so this was new to me. I didn't like it quite as much as expected, but most of my family liked it well enough. I don't know that I would do it again unless everyone else insisted.
Columbia Harbor House - I have only had my mom's left-over chicken tenders from here, and they were good, even cold!
Riverside Food Mill at POR - never been here
Caseys - there must be something wrong with me, b/c I have never been here either :scared1:
Flame Tree - This is great for counter service, we really like the food and being able to sit down by the lake. Watch out for hungry ducks!
'Ohana - never been here
Afternoon Tea at the Grand Flo. - never been, need a little girl to take with me ;)
Either Cantina de San Angel OR Tangierine Cafe - We have eaten at both and like both. Cantina is more authentic than you would expect, definitely not like Taco Bell. Tangierine is not my favorite type of food, but DH really likes it.
Pecos Bills - never been here
We went to Y&Y last trip and thought it was just ok. I've had way better and more authentic asian food in Chicago (but NOT here in Phoenix, yuck!)
I think you can probably tell from my comments which would be my pick if I could only have one - Jiko. I cannot say enough good things about that filet. I would go back to WDW just for that, even if the rest of WDW wasn't there. But since it is, I would probably sneak a few rides and shows in. :thumbsup2

Trying to think of Titles but my brain hurts. Been cataloging old support tickets all day so I'm a bit mush-melloned. All that's coming to mind is "Pop, Drop & Pour", "Invasion of the Belle Battlion", and "Ladies, Lapus, & Latrines".

I agree!! I'm still chuckling at how that happened! I would love to be on about a 100 more threads, but I just really can't. Color me obsessed, but once I join up with one, I tend to sort get a little emotionally attached and "engage". If I can't be consistent, I feel I can't or don't want to hop in. I know not everyone is like this (seriously NO pressure), but all that to say, I'm reluctant to post, unless I know I can stick with it. :thumbsup2 To keep everyone straight and to keep myself from making an a$$ of myself (like calling Jordan married once :scared1:) I have to keep it to about 20 threads or so. I'm sooooo glad I found yours!! It's definitely my kind of place :)

That's summer here. Winter is just he opposite. It snowed yesterday- after it sleeted for 3 hours. Snow on Ice- sounds like a tragic accident waiting to happen. And I know it'd be me and my derrier.
I wish I could like the treadmill, but it's so boring. I wish I was rich, I'd have my own tennis and raquetball courts!! HA! That reminds me, the last time I played raquetball, I clocked my own nose and nearly broke it!! There was blood all over the court! I don't know, maybe I'm just destined to be marchmellowy forever. :lmao:

I don't think it sounds snooty at all. You don't want to be subscribed to tons of PTRs and TRs but only be able to pop in once in a blue moon with a quick "hi." You want to be able to really get to know the people you're reading and remember whether or not they're married. ;)

Militaries LOVE to collaborate! In fact, the headlines today, tell us that in fact, this is very big business. Most of the time it’s covert, but once in a while, an army wants to make a bold statement and go public big time with the “We’re working here message!” It’s gone on for centuries. Take a look at the Cuban Missile Crisis, N. Korean parts going to Iran today, or the French teaming up with the Colonists to take on King George.
Collaboration can be a very advantageous affair. The benefits are far reaching and might include getting profitable intelligence for future victories, weapons and personnel that might secure the upper hand, friendship that ensures future partnership, and additional spoils of war that can be divided. The most striking example of this was the Allied States and Russians joining forces to push back the Axis Powers, and their eventual defeat of the threat of Hitler. The TC3 has a similar strategy in this Epic Quest for Freedom- Teaming up with others to get the latest information relevant to our Tour of Duty! Abundant and frequent communications with fellow compatriots such as are found in the Kingdom of DIS are paramount to our future successes of conquering the Planning for the TC3 Trip.
With such connections as these, certainly every campaign, including finding the most reliable and worthy air transport, securing the best MREs for every Rations Drop, acquiring unparalleled enticements offered by the corporate flagship USS WDW, and even discovering the most fashionable soldier fatigues and rucksacks, will be enable us to be triumphant. All this and more can be found within the close ranks of our DIS comrades. Another important benefit is that of companionship and loyalty, like that of a close knit community. One can find a place to laugh, cry, pray, uplift, encourage, and share the joys and struggles of life with DIS Alliances.
Let me now take a moment to share with you some of the “units” that I have particularly enjoyed over the last many months. Some, most of you will be very familiar with, some, may be altogether new to you. Tell them I sent you, and I’m sure they’ll treat you right!
~~For a VERY thorough accounting of his exploits and adventures with a lovely army made up of wife and 3 kids I give you Capell’s Trip. I especially enjoy Mike’s Reports because of his detailed explanations of where they went and what they saw.
~~If you are looking for someone who can write her socks off, look no further than CircusGirl’s TRs!! Heather uses the English language in ways that truly inspire and impress me!
~~For some of the best pictures I always turn to both MRYPPNS or 2xcited2sleep’s TRs. They sure know how to tour with a creative eye! If photography is REALLY your thing, ToddH’s reports will blow you away!!
~~For lots of chatter and good ol’ plain fun, I love to hang out with Glennbo, that’snice, and winker’s places. They are the Officer’s Clubs so to speak.
~~Of course, I would be a very disloyal and unfaithful soldier indeed, if I didn’t mention one of my personal favorites: My very own and closest comrade in arms- MAROO!!! If you want the drama of ever-changing and evolving plans visit her on-going PTR.
~~For intensely poignant and deep thinking on life’s up and downs eandesmom and TarzanKat’s reports will make you misty eyed and inspire you to look at life from a fresh perspective; definitely worth investigating.
~~If you always want a fast-paced, action packed place to come and enjoy some super goofy fun, take a walk on the wild side with Jordanyosh! Zany stuff over there! But be prepared to have a feeling that you never know what’s going on because you missed 6 pages if you’re not there for a few hours.
~~Other honorable mentions are SleepingBooty’s, Shannn’s and Jenbear123’s reports.
~~If training for a Disney marathon is what you’re looking for check out carissanboys or Sandy321.
~~For an all around good read with good pictures and great resource for traveling with kids that have an autism spectrum disorder, KathyRn137 is the perfect read!
~~And for perhaps some of the funniest stuff on the boards, without a doubt, make sure you take the time to read through GreatBiscuit’s TR! It is worth it just to read in your spare time like a good book; it is that good.
~~Some of you enjoy a great resource for dining reviews. For some funny, albeit, “adult-oriented” (these definitely border on the PG13 side of things) write-ups of drinking and dining in the World, make sure to hit up Oy Bolshoi’s stuff on the Dining Reviews Board.
There are many, many more that I regularly gain valuable recon from- all are worthy of an honorable mentions. Thank you to every one of you who have brought me so many hours of pleasure through your insights and perspectives! Thank you for taking the time to post pictures and meal reviews and itineraries and well, everything!

Liesa I am so impressed at your ability to keep up with the zillions of trip reports and pre trip reports. Do they have like 48 hours in each day over there in Blankastan???I'll have to check out some of your recommendations.
With my absence the past few days, I'm now of course hopelessly lost on your PTR. I'm thinking at this point it's best to just jump back in instead of trying to catch up! I hope I didn't miss any breaking news!

It's my therapy. When I'm am tired of having a day of not understanding 35% of what is said around me, or when I miss a social cue and blow it culturally, or when I've completely HAD it with spit and trash on the sidewalks and no green salads, I come here to see happy people, feast my eyes on the Ceasar salads in TRs, and view beautiful views of my Castle on a Cloud.
Just jump in here!! Lots of drivel, mostly. A few installments from my 2000 trip, another antique Disney find, the last RD clues. That's about it. :)
Just kinda trying to wrap things up here before we start, as of yet still unnamed, Thread #2.

Caught up again, I think I will always have to start every post that way, I said before and I say again!
I really loved your stories, I got a language barrier story for ya, when we lived in Germany, My Mom and Dad had gone to a beerfest, at the stroke of midnight (which then made it my parents wedding anniversary) My mother starts looking around for my Dad and yelling in German (or thought so any way) "where is my husband?" People looked at her like she was nuts, a little old german man yelled out to everybody "Poor woman she does not know WHO her husband is.
Birth stories, I love to hear those, I don't have any great ones to tell, but when I was pregnant with Reese I had gone to a check up and the Dr told me my daughter was coming cannonball, I freaked out, I thought that since I had gone into premature labor with her twice already that she was gearing up to shoot out of me. He just explained though that she was butt first and he scheduled me for a C-section the next morning, she was 1 month early and weighed 8 lbs 5oz. 18 inches. she was so round.

I know, she was such a chunker! My son was a week late and weighed 6lbs 15oz, 20 1/2 inches.
I had a healthy pregnancy with her, (minus the premature labor stuff) I only gained about 23 lbs, I think maybe it was the healthy eating. I gave up fast food and candy, drank water all day and milk and juice at meals.
With my son I gained 79 pounds (took almost a year to lose it) but lived on McD's drive thru.
That's all I can figure

I would so love to read some of the fab tr's and ptr's but I am not keeping up very well with the ones I read now! Maybe someday! I just need to stop volunteering to do things ;) - 40 hours a week at work + 6 year old dd and DH + volunteer stuff = not enough DIS time! Who am I kidding - I love the volunteer stuff (I just finished Make A Wish shirts for one of our DIS families) so I guess less sleep is my only option.

Well, my plan to just jump back in didn't work. The talk about animating cousin and birthing stories piqued my curiosity to I headed back page after page until I discovered the source of such hilarity. And I'm glad I did.
Amazing story about your cousin and the signed Chip and Dale drawing. What an incredible Disney heirloom! My DBIL is an animator for EA Games (I think I mentioned this somewhere before) and I actually have him autograph a copy of every game he works on to save for my girls. He thinks it's lame, and rolls his eyes every time I ask, but I know the girls appreciate it. So far he has worked on Superman (remind me sometime to tell you about some 'adjustments' made to that game:rotfl2:), Madden (07,08,09, and 10) and a few others.
Too funny about the not-so-breech baby! Aren't hilarious birth stories the greatest?
And here's my contribution to the language barrier discussion, although I'm not sure if it actually counts because it's just a case of differing regional accents. Two years ago, we 'lived' in a hospital in Baltimore for 2 months for Bella's treatment. I went to order some food from the cafeteria at Johns Hopkins one day and inquired as to the soup of the day.
"Marlin Crab Soup."
"what? like Marlin the fish and crab together? "
weird combination I thought.
"no, Maaarrrrrrr-lin, Marlin crab" she replied
:confused3
Pointing to a sign, I read Maryland Crab Soup.
Oh, that makes more sense. Apparently the "y" and "d" are silent when you live in Baw-di-moe, I mean Baltimore.

She's precious!! I had big baby's too.....Let's see Ty was 9 lbs. 4oz. and Mackenzie was 10 lbs. and 12.9 oz. :scared: and no I didn't have her c-section, and yes I can still walk normal.
You sound like me Ty, I gained 69 with my first child. Let me guess.... with your second you were stressed out all the time? I'm guessing that's why you had pre-mature labor issues, am I wrong?
Mackenzie was born huge, but only gained exactly ten pounds more each year to the ounce for two years in a row. So she evened out her weight pretty quickly, the doctors were all freaked out because she would only gain a half pound here, or a quarter pound there. I said she'll grow how she's gonna grow. Geesh! My son was different, he gained steadily. But he was never a pudgy baby or what I would call fat, he was normal looking. Just veeeeery long, probably what kept him from looking fat. Mackenzie was a very long child to, infact still is. She's 10 and 5'5 almost 5'6, she won't be 11 until Aug. Everyone would see her in her stroller and see this beautiful well proportioned baby from the waste up and then they would see these loooooong legs sticking out at the bottom of the stroller and say......How old is she!?!

Hi Liesa!
I've seen you around at GB's TR and I followed you over and subbed a couple months ago, but I guess I was feeling a little intimidated with how far behind I was. I didn't actually start reading until yesterday and I am now caught up thru all the installments listed in the Part 1 TOC. So, I thought it was time to let you know that I am here and not necessarily lurking - just catching up.
I can't even imagine the life that you lead on the opposite side of the world from the rest of us. Seriously, I almost feel guilty for pining away for my next WDW trip when I spend my days working in a comfortable office and my evenings in my very American home with my DH and our *one* DD. The very idea of living where you are and raising (and homeschooling) 5 kids... oh my! You are certainly a better person than I and if anyone deserves a WDW trip, it's definitely you!
I'm looking forward to catching up to current over the next few days (or weeks maybe). Thank you for sharing your story!

Here's one of my birthing stories (well, not me giving birth but you get the idea), although it's not as good as yours. For our first, we were in the hospital waiting for the event and they came around and took Judy's food order. Then they said I could order something. I was psyched! I know it was hospital food, but you know, I like to eat. It didn't show up for quite a while and in the meantime Judy goes into major labor. Finally the orderly showed up with the food and the nurse goes, "Out!!!" But I jumped up and said, "No! I want mine!!" The nurses couldn't believe it, but when else was I gonna eat?

Here's one of my birthing stories (well, not me giving birth but you get the idea), although it's not as good as yours. I know it was hospital food, but you know, I like to eat. It didn't show up for quite a while and in the meantime Judy goes into major labor. A fellow's got to keep his strength up. Coaching labor is hard work! :duck:
When we had our second, the emergency button was broken and kept going off. The first time, we were watching TV when 4 nurses came bursting into the room. They didn't believe us when we said it wasn't us. Then after they reset it, one of the nurses was checking something on a monitor when all the other nurses came running back in. The third time it went off, about 2 min later, they wern't inclined to hurry. Which made me wonder what would happen if we had an actual emergency. Maintenance finally showed up and fixed it. That's about it for humorous drama. There was some scary drama when when our first was born and Tracy started bleeding out and lost consiousness. I didn't know I could pray that fast.

Too funny Liesa! I don't know if I could listen to someone else giving birth! :scared1:
When I was pregnant with our second, we had an ultrasound and were delighted to learn that we were expecting a little girl. :cloud9: We picked out a name and had a few girly outfits. Fast forward to delivery day. After I pushed out our baby, I was taking a breather. It was a very fast labor and drug free so I was just glad it was over. Then I finally remembered to ask, "It's a girl, right?" And the doctor said, "Uh. Nope. It's a boy."
I said, "Uh - you're joking, right??" :rolleyes1
And if you know me, you know we do indeed have three boys - no girls. ;)

well as long as we are in sharing mode...
I had toxemia with both of the E's. Evan was 10 days late and they decided to induce. He was a big dude, 9lbs 6oz and due to the toxemia I had to be in labor on my side, hooked up to machines the entire time. Inducing as a general rule is not all that fast and on my side seemed twice as long. It seemed like, even once I was pushing, I was were told for HOURS that he was "almost " there. Of course he wasn't, he had shoulder dystocia which drug it out even longer.
Fast forward 15 months later. Toxemia again and scheduled to be induced if I don't go into labor on my own. Thankfully I did, the day before the induction was scheduled. This time, instead of making me lie on my side hooked up to machines, I get magnesium...and am hooked up to machines. So feeling pretty wonky to say the least.
I"m pretty far along by the time we arrive, get hooked up and drugged up and they check me out and say it's time to push. Huh, what, really?
Okaayyyy....
One push and the nurse looks at me and says "one more and that should do it". Seriously I kid you not. Maybe a couple pushes so far.
My ex and I look at each other and roll our eyes thinking, here it goes again, they are blowing smoke up my you know what.
One push later and...
that kid came flying out.
Amazing the difference between a 9lb 6 oz baby and a 6lb 9oz one!

I hope you have that written down somewhere in Bekka's baby book. That is :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:
I do. And even better than that, I have it forever immotalized on VHS tape. It's a real screamer! :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

i had a little snafu with Bailie...it involved my aunt and a camera.
Once I had a different friend in there who also went a bit camera crazy. Full on shots are- well, if you're wanting to write a medical text, really great; if not-- NOT! :scared1:
It is THAT good! And yes, I have been to quite a few of the places on your list. What can I say, I like to eat! :thumbsup2
That means more expert advice! If you like to eat, you seriously have to check out Oy Bolshoi's thread.

What a fabulous story! I got nothin. A big fat nothin. Ok maybe not nothing....
2 puppies...buh bye!
:cool1::cool1:
I wish all my stories were funny while having my kids; my first was a horror story of epic proportions. He was born 7 weeks early, in Medford as I was coming home from a wedding we had been to in San Francisco! I had been on mag. sulfate for 4 days as they tried to hold labor off. Long story, but DH did NOT make it back to the hospital- so I was alone, in a place I had no friends in. He had to be intubated, was whisked of to intensive care, blah, blah, blah. He had his first airplane ride when he was 2 days old when they transferred him to the NICU in Portland to stay for a month.
Now he's 19 AND JUST GOT HIS ACCEPTANCE LETTER TO THE UNV.. OF HIS CHOICE!!!
Thanks for the shout out!!!:flower3:
And yet you still read my PTRs and TRs!!!!!! :lmao:
AWWWWW TINK. It's OK!!!! Liesa is always on there (I wish she wasn't because I need to beat her in your game!!!) LOL
OMG!!!! This had me cracking up!!!!! It could only be better if they recorded it!!!! :lmao::lmao::lmao:
Yours are "cute"- the Juliana factor gives big points. OK, they aren't just cute, they also pack a lot of good tips in them, like what to do if you forget your tickets. :rotfl2: ( I really mean that! I wouldn't have known what to do!)
Of course, I'm there. You could always wish for power outages for every day Tink puts a new clue up. :happytv::headache: ;)

I was invited to a friend's birthing once. TOTALLY fascinating!! My dad was a doctor, and I had always wanted to do that, but chem scared me off. I guess God had a plan, but there will always be that nagging- what would life have been like? Could I have done it? etc... Maybe someday, I will go back to school and do midwifery??? :confused3

I just don't think I'd be able to listen to a friend or family member giving birth over the phone. I'm not too bad with blood and stuff. At one time I did think about being a certified nurse midwife, but I hate science and knew that I'd struggle with all of those classes. :rotfl:

No. I know I had a girl outfit packed, but I guess I must have had something neutral as well JUST IN CASE. Thankfully we also had a boy's name picked out JUST IN CASE.

All of mine were big, but the two 9 pounders (9 lb. 14 oz and 9 lbs 10 oz) popped out no problem, while my 10 pounder (10 lb. 6 oz) got stuck. Part of that was him being face up, though. And yeah - there was some screaming going on then as the midwife did some crazy things to get him "unstuck." Honestly, I've blocked a lot of that out of my memory.

Love science to pieces, in fact, I minored in Earth Sciences. My DH was getting his masters in Geology, so all my TAs were those we hung out in the bars with. Sooooooooo, it was a slam dunk bunch of As. Well, ok, to be honest, I did really well, and loved the classes too.

Funny how every pregnancy and birth is different. The whole memory thing....yea, that's all part of God's master plan. I call it birthing amnesia. You see, if we remember that kind of pain like it happened the day of, we won't continue to populate the earth.
As I said my first was 9. 4 oz and was a bit of a problem to get through labor with once I had hit the 7th hour (I did 12 hours and a minute exactly and yes I count the minute, dang it!) I was done, poke a fork in me DONE! I had said nothing prior to all of this to my nurse or anyone for that matter, I just breathed through the labor as best as I could and then I finally hit the wall of tolerance and I think my head spinned around like three times and I said...."Get me some drugs!!!" The nurse about jumped out of her chair and pee'd herself since she thought I was a quiet one, by the time she called the doctor and he answered her on what to do, I had already been through two more contractions or so and just as she hung up I said..."Forget the drugs get me an EPIDRUAL!!!" She smiled and said I didnt' think you had it in ya! Thank God the anesthesiologist lady came in at the same time, she said I guess your looking for me!
John said "That's my que, I'm not watching you stick the same needle I apoxy B-1 window's together with, in my woman's back!" (He's an Airforce Academy grad.) The anesthesiologist laughed and said OK we'll see you on the flip side. Well, as it turns out, when you lay down to labor, the labor pain is a lot harder than sitting or standing, so as I was sitting up expecting this major pain to wrack my body, I was squeezing the poor nurse's hand between mine like I had a death grip, the anesthesiologist says as she's about to give me a local before the big one, so I get all geared up and then she says...."Ok honey, just a little sting and prick.... and I responded with.. (since I wasn't in as much pain sitting up)...."Shoot lady! That's what got me into this mess!" :rotfl: Needless to say, she wasn't able to give me a shot for about 10 mins., she couldn't...she kept laughing hysterically. She actually had to sit down in the recliner in our labor suite to stop laughing, nurse Ratchet even cracked a smile, and then said to let go of her hand.....I was still squeezing it to death.

for instance with the new laptop.
Me: my laptop died at home.
Mom: are you going to get a new one?
Me: I can't because I'm trying to save money for my trip.
Mom: Do you want us to help you buy one?
Me: Okay.
I'm paying them back 50 dollars a month, but they said not to start until after I get back from vacation....

I had an epi with Mackenzie too, but I only got to enjoy it for about 45 mins. before Mackie wanted to make her appearance for the first time. They induced me with her and I was about two hours into it when I asked for an epidural and as soon as they had me poked, taped and sitting me back into the bed, I felt like I had to push. They laughed and said honey we told you, you'd feel pressure, I said rather calmly..." Yea! Like having BM pressure, right?" :) They said yeeeees, all leary like. "Sit back and we'll check so we don't have to have a doctor in here for no reason." Needless to say when the nurse checked me, she ran out of the room to get a doctor, and all the equipment they needed! :rotfl: I literally went from a 5-8 in a matter of 30 mins. and from an 8-10 in the time it took them to get all the equipment into the room. The epi did the trick for relaxing enough to allow the contractions to work for me. Then out came Mackenzie 30 mins. later, all 10 lb. and 12.9 oz. of her! :lovestruc :lovestruc :lovestruc Thank God she was easier to have than Ty was.

worst birthing horror story I've ever heard...my best friend was rushed in for an emergency c-section...I guess they forgot to check to make sure the spinal block worked. the last she remembers is feeling the scalpel and screaming. :scared1:
I had problems with all of my kids. Evan , I had pre-eclampsia and after knowing I was in labor for an hour, he popped out 8 weeks early....I still have a scar from them trying to get an iv started.
#2 I spent 3 months on bed rest...
My aunt was in the delivery room acting as photographer. About a week later I took the film into one hour service so I could get pictures sent to my family.
The same man was there when I dropped it off and picked it up. After he handed me the pictures , I told him I needed to pick some to enlarge and started to flip through the stack.
I about died when I realized that in the roll about 15 were starring me still "in the position" and my dr turned around and smiled for each of them.:scared1: Up in the far left corner you could see my face, d.jay and Bailie.
That poor man who had to develop those!:scared1:

All babies in the family do it, and the parents know it, it's all part of the sickness. I totally allow my baby to get away with things I would never have let my oldest get away with, but then again, my oldest was the only for so long. So in a sense, he was the baby for a loooong time. Now that I'm home schooling, the baby doesn't feel like she's getting anything over me anymore.
That's really sweet your parents helped you out. :cloud9: I look at it this way....If God wants to give us good things, and does, and we're made in His image, then why can't parent's give their children good things? :confused3 Makes sense to me. :thumbsup2 And! I'm sure your extremely appreciative, I know my kids are when ever I do anything for them, which makes it that much easier for parents to want to continue to do for their kids.

I know! Why don't they believe us, it's not like it's our bodies or anything! :confused3 Geesh! ;)
I had a girlfriend who didn't have labor pains when in labor (lucky duck), but the major down fall to that is....you don't know when your at the point of baby coming until it's pretty much to late. She ended up having her baby at a stop light on the way to the hospital because her DH didn't believe her when she felt she needed to go the hospital sooner than they did. :scared: She told him as the baby was coming..."I swear to God I'm not pushing, I swear to God I'm not pushing, but she's coming any way!" He said "Oh be quiet," and laughed, then the baby let out a big ol' cry, she lifted her dress and there was the little munchkin!! Needless to say, he drove really quickly the rest of the way!

After Future World had been all played out, we headed over through the International Gateway to discover what other stores of riches ECPOT held. We really had no idea what to expect to find, but were eager explorers nonetheless. Only faint memories are surfacing these days, more than 10 years later, but a few recollections stand out more clearly.
By the time we began our tour of nations, it was well into the lunch hour. That being the case, and the fact that the Cantina de San Angel was dead ahead, we laid tracks to score a meal. I’m pretty sure that we ordered some sort of kids’ meals for the offspring, Mom and I split a taco salad, and Dad ordered up a combo deal. How I remember this I have no idea, but there you have it. It was plenty of food to go around and filled up our bellies. It was standard Mexican fare; not great, but certainly by no means bad either. It was, in my book, a good value for your food bucks.
From there, we started to see the sights of lands “far away”. The obvious first place was the mysterious orange pyramid. Like all Disney wienies, it lured us inside and captivated our curiosity. To our wonder and awe, the perpetually twilighted atmosphere reminded us of our beloved Blue Bayou Restaurant inside the Pirates ride at DLR. I’ve always loved the enchanting atmosphere there. So much that in 1986 I worked there as a hostess. And what is this?? A classic Disney dark ride??!! Score! A ride we could all enjoy and relax on. I’m not positive about this, but I’m pretty sure the ride has had a refurb since 2000, wherein Donald et al. were added. I’m a purist, and wish they had left it alone. Why does Disney always have to promote itself like that? I’m sad to say, I’m pretty disappointed they added a whole bunch of characters to the Small World at DLR too. But that’s a different story to tell.
After some quick browsing and such in the darkened pavilion, we set our sails and crossed the Atlantic towards Norway. The minute my dad found out there was Norwegian food, it was a sealed deal concerning where our dinner would be. He couldn’t wait to get his watering mouth all over some herring in sour cream, warm lefsa, and grilled salmon. But dinner was a while away yet, so we took in all we could of the Scandinavian Pavilion. Maelstrom did not disappoint, nor did the Laila perfume that my mother and I got all stunk up with. Of course, the kids all battled the King Troll and were victorious, so were aptly rewarded with some play time on the now defunct Norwegian skiff. Again, I’m sad that it was removed for reasons of safety. Seriously, I’m sad that a few overprotective parents forced this really great play place into extinction. But that’s another different story to tell.
Whether or not we made it any further around our clockwise progression I don’t recall. We must have at least made it to China because it was just beside the drawbridge that we heard the announcement of a parade to start. The cool thing is that we just happened to be right, and I do mean right, beside, within 5 feet of, where the characters and floats came out onto the parade route. The curb nicely supplied us with seating and we settled in for the Tapestry of Nations parade. It was pretty eclectic I remember and kinda whacky, in fact. The characters were in wildly outlandish costumes like something out of a post-modern Alice in Wonderland novel. Here are a few photos I found online to give you an idea of what I’m talking about.
One memory I have of this that really sticks out was this one character who was just plain weird. He was HUGE with his costume on, and kind of, well frankly for a 20 month old, scary. From way up on his stilts he bent all the way down and got right into my son’s face and, I don’t know, sort of flirted with him. All I can say is that it was bizarre; like he was enjoying his job a little too much. It creeped me out.

My dad is the impatient kind of guy who runs around like he has ants in his pants most of the time. His whole life is characterized by a go-go-go frenzy, and we’ve learned to humor his as best we can. When he gets some hankering or another he never waffles and does what it takes to get it. I remember many spur of the moment decisions he’s made- like the purchase of a 35 ft. motorhome because he wanted to see the Grand Canyon. Dinner was no exception. He wanted his Norwegian food, and he wanted it now. So around 4:30 (far too early for dinner) we were sitting down ready to eat again. Didn’t matter we were all still pretty stuffed with burritos and tacos. Let me tell you, that Norwegian was really, really good!! I love pickled herring and rice cream, so there was no problem parking it all right next to the taco salad I’d had just 3 short hours earlier. Dad is also an extrovert to the max. So when our cute, and quite effervescent, blonde haired, Norse waitress served us, Dad was pleased as punch to engage her in all kinds of talk about Norway. He flirts as far as he can get away with and still call it "being friendly". All in all, it was a fabulous meal!
But of course, as seems to be the theme with this chapter, things have changed for the worse in the Akershus. Last year we decided to give it another try for Bekka’s 16th birthday, convincing Dad to pay for it, by playing the “remember how good it was last time?” card. Why, oh why, does Disney mess with such a good thing?? The food was OK, but NOT what it once was. We were terribly disappointed last time, and won’t be going back unless they put authentic Norwegian fare back on the docket.
More exploring most likely ensued, but again, not one single thing comes to mind between dinner and Illuminations, which I remember being just as underwhelmed with then, as I still am today. Not to offend, but it’s just not a show I enjoy or would stick around for. It’s a great time however to ride Maelstrom without a line. By now, we were FREEZING! It was time to make emergency purchases to warm us up, and what better place than Mouse Gears?! Of course back then, I had no idea it was the primo place to spend oneself into a 2nd mortgage, but we were so cold. So we spent about 45 minutes finding sweatshirts for all of us. It would end up being our one huge splurge for this trip. 5 sweatshirts at $25 a piece, you can do the math…. Rant #328 for this post. Is it always so hard to find just basic, classic Mickey and Minnie designs at the shops? You would think that would be a quick in and out, find it fast sort of thing, but I walked around in there for, like I said, 45 minutes before I could find designs where Mickey wasn’t playing golf or the bagpipes.
Having a proper emotional response to the psychedelic sparkly sidewalk that lines the path, we slowly made our way to the car and headed for home. I couldn’t help but to know that someday I’d be back to my Happy Place called World Showcase.

I just quickly paid and got out of there.
We will have to share our stories when we get together! I did the whole bed rest thing too with 3 of mine. A month or more with each. I had a drug pump that I had to stick into my leg (mini IV style) to keep me from going into preemie labor. Got a ton of reading done though.
HA! Also had the film developed with wondering eyes to greet me upon pick up. I laughed off and asked the guy if he wanted to take a better look. He emphatically said no.
I had a similar experience with my 3rd. Nurse didn't believe me, checked ran to call the dr and while we were waiting admonished me to stop pushing......I just said sure, but it's a little hard when the baby is popping out, ready or not.

Congratulations on your son getting accepted to his college!! That's such amazing news. :cool1: Being surrounded by children, I really can't imagine being on that end of the parenting journey...
As to birth stories, my water broke with Morgan exactly 1 month early. My doctor (who was a piece of work...) was sure that I had been cheating with my gestational diabetes and so was completely unconcerned. He turned out to be 5lb 13oz, and she had to eat her words! "Oh, maybe you were following your diet!"
Lily was induced 1 week early because my blood pressure was going up. She weighed 7lb 15oz.
Both times, I bowed to the amazing Epi Gods!!

Congress, some years ago, passed a paper reduction act, and for that many tax payers are quite grateful! Fewer forms, less waste of time and financial burden on the public, and control and monitoring of the gathering of information from the citizens are supposed to help to ensure the streamlining of such procedures. Likewise, the powers that be here in the Kingdom of DISBoards, in order to ensure smooth running threads and the best possible way to disseminate information to their constituency, have put a limit on the number of pages allowed in one thread. This archive has now reached that limit, and will eminently be closed. Therefore, as we look to begin a new volume of Tactical Planning, we the TC3, have formulated a last chapter for this part, meant to summarize and conclude before we begin afresh.
Let’s take a look back over the last months. We’ve fought and won many battles since the inception of this chronicle on May 4th, 2009, in our Quest for our Week of Freedom!! We spent some time introducing ourselves to you, but since then, I imagine, you know us quite a bit better. Getting better acquainted with you, our fellow compatriots, has been both rewarding and exciting! :dance3:
See that census poll at the top of this thread?? The reason for that was revealed in a post not too long after you were introduced to us. A surprise bonus came to Soldier #1 by way of a bank snafu that ended in her favor!! (That sounds like a game of Monopoly! :rotfl2:) Now Soldier #1 has $350 extra bucks to play around with (wouldn’t the US military LOVE that?!!), and as a group we decided that that would help pay for a resort upgrade. Little by little this is becoming a trip beyond our wildest dreams and fantasies!! :woohoo:
Next, we took a look at just what Enemies we are fighting against in order to claim our victory. Soldier maroo contemplated long and hard, but has very few to claim. 2nd Lieutenant Liesa, on the other hand, has many Enemies constantly rearing their ugly heads. Living outside of the US, homeschooling day after day, cooking, laundry and lack of entertainment are just a few that were spelled out. :sad2:
In June, Soldier #1 had to return to the US for a quick trip to attend the funeral of her grandmother (It’s been a VERY difficult and painful year for those who are just joining in). It worked out that the troops of the TC3 (2 of them, anyway) would be able to meet in person for the first time!!! What an exciting sojourn that was in Nashville! We planned our little hearts out, shared a super fun lunch AND dinner, all the while practicing the photographic documentation techniques required for a successful Report upon our return from our Tour of Duty. :surfweb:
The TC3 then catalogued the many snacks that they, with much anticipation, are planning to eat while on their trip. Much hilarious conversation between our comrades ensued as we discussed the merits of eating vegetables, and we concocted creative ways of supplying said vegetables through the various Disney snack options. It was unanimously decided that chocolate is most definitely a vegetable as it comes from the cocoa bean (a plant). :thumbsup2
Every governing body must have an acting Constitution, and as ours is quite hearty. We also drew up a document that we aptly named The Constitution of the TC3. In it are such bylaws that spell out our qualifications, the adamant belief that freedom to tour as one wishes are paramount, that no whining or complaining is allowed, and that the laws of grace and understanding will be the paradigm that the regiment will operate under. Added to this were some very important amendments that might have included such guidelines as to where one might expel internal air buildups and how the matter of unflattering pictures is to be handled. :rolleyes1
So as to not frighten our fellow compatriots while touring together, we each made a compilation of our deepest confessions. It was discovered that Soldier #1 gets impatient with morning stragglers and gags on her toothbrush regularly. And tsk, tsk, Soldier #2 keeps messy quarters! ;)
Each soldier has a different style of touring, and a different set of hopes and dreams for her Freedom Tour. Therefore each laid out her “tenets of touring” which will be the guiding principles of how she tackles the week. They are too numerous to list out here, but let’s just say, for the record, Soldier #1 is still NOT calling home while she’s there!
Finally, the secret bases of the TC3 were revealed. These are no ordinary base camps, no indeed! Being the high class outfit that we are, we chose to be quartered in style and luxury. Let them eat cake, we say! Home base #1 will be at the Southern themed resort of the Port Orleans Riverside, and from there we’ll make camp at the exquisite Polynesian- staying at each for 4 nights. The first will be with free dining, the next without, but with 40% off! :cool2:
Continued in next post…. But you may have to wait a little while! (The administration needs more time- Yeah, isn't that what they all say?! :lmao:)
All7OfUs
01-29-2010, 12:54 PM
When a military wants to succeed in its campaigns, it must take to the task of comparing strategies and plans, and collaborating whenever possible. As a mock drill, the TC3 each posted a battle plan for our Tour of Duty, then compared them to see how similar they were. It should come as no surprise that maroo and Liesa think almost identically, and the plans were very close- almost scary close, in fact.
Following that, we began an exciting contest to reveal where our Rations Drops would be held. I mean an army marches on its stomach, right? Do you think the TC3 would settle for anything less than the best our host nation could muster!? Not on your lives! We chose, over the course of many weeks, (ok, it actually took months) 20 fabulous mess halls to indulge in the finest cuisine (we hope!) Disney has to offer. Just so we have a list all in one place, here they are again:
Caseys, Flame Tree BBQ, Pecos Bills, Grand Floridian Tea, ‘Ohana, Tangierine Café OR Cantina de San Angel, Crystal Palace (you guessed it, but we axed it), Columbia Harbor House, Biergarten, Kona (breakfast and sushi bar), Riverside Food Mill, Teppan Edo, Wolfgang Puck Express, Beaches and Cream, Sanaa, Starring Rolls, Boma, and Jiko
Phew!! Are we up for the challenge? We shall all certainly see!
Congratulations to eandesmom, that’snice, Shannn, and Piper’sMom for their winning guesses!
For those of you who’ve been with this illustrious outfit for quite some time, you know that each month that gets us closer to D-Day, we give ourselves a ranking upgrade; a self-promotion so to speak. As of now, we are 2nd Lieutenants, but will shortly be upgraded again as our 7 month mark is coming up soon!
Some of you also know that Soldier #1’s life in general has been one of uncertainty and full of unclear plans. It was not long ago that we were planning a trip to Thailand right after our Week ‘O Freedom, but that came and went as fast as Sarah Palin’s run for office. Instead, they are planning a permanent move back to the US, and it happens that this impending move is dangerously close to our trip dates!! It is looking now like Lt. Liesa’s coveted solo portion is out the window like the Democrats in Massachusetts. There’s about the same chance of the POP solo stay happening, as her running a marathon in the next 2 years. Stranger things have happened though- we shall see.
No DIS Planning Document would be complete without a complete narrative of each participant’s Must-Do’s. It was completely enjoyable to contemplate what our top Mission Priorities are and list them out here for you -our constituency. Here in the preceding pages, you can find all of our desires to see and do at each park, each resort and even some miscellaneous places around the WDW property. Do you remember what Soldier #1’s top Must-Do is for her stay at the Poly?? It is watching Wishes from the beach, but is followed very closely with watching the little cheesy Tiki lighting ceremony.
Filling in the holes and rounding out our lineup of zany posts was a retelling of the incident of fart bomb misfires in an operating room, a narrative of a free peep show at the Hoop de Doo Revue, and an account of the cream cheese delivery that inspired a leaky bladder. It has been a lot of fun checking in here each day as we shared our stories and joked with one another. Thanks for all the laughs, our friends!
More planning recap from Part III coming up!
Continued in next post, but you may have to wait a spell. Administration is working feverishly!

Every branch of the military has an academy where young men and women train to be honorable and knowledgeable officers. It goes without saying that they must study military history in quite some detail, so as to learn from past mistakes and be better prepared for the next engagments. This Pre-Battle Plan included a 12 part series on a foray into WDW taken 10 years ago. Although exciting and fun, it taught soldier #1 many things about basic touring manuevers, the dangers of going in ill-prepared, and how proper planning can assure a sound victory!
Dear Friends, One and All,
It's been a wonderfully well spent 9 months (almost) getting to know each of you better and sharing our joys and sorrows each day with you. When we started this journey of trip planning here, we debated a long while about whether it was too early to start a report so far in advance. We wondered what on earth we could possibly talk about for so long and keep your interest over the months.
We needn't have worried! We share much in common, and our passion is fueled with one another's enthusiasm of all things Disney. I have no doubt the next 7 months will be filled with fun stories, many trimphant moments in our planning, huge amounts of "knowledge share", and even a few more "bumps of life" along the way. Be on the look out for the 2nd part of this thread very soon (still no chosen name yet. I'm starting to have indigestion issues...), and until then, the last Installment of the Newbie's Trip to the World- Clueless Style is coming up soon. Meanwhile feel free to yak it up as long as the mods will let us. :goodvibes

I saw it on Jordan's and was LMAO!
That could be the funniest thing I ever saw on here.
Give her a few days... I'm sure she'll be off breaking some other ceramics. :lmao:
Not that I know her very well.... just from what I see here and on Jordan's. ;)
She's a hoot, that one!! Her own thread gets some pretty funny stuff going as well.
Shannn!! That was a good story!! I'll bet your doctor was sure eating crow!! My first doc was lucky I didn't sue him! I walked into my first appointment with pregnancy #3, and called me, "a horny little thing!!" :scared1::scared1::scared1: Can you imagine!!?? I should have slapped him and left. I think that was the last time I ever entered his office! I found a nice Catholic midwife after that!

Sorry for the big post....you folks were busy on here last night.
First off, I don't think I thanked you for the PTR shout-out....so Thanks Liesa! I'm glad to have you contributing to the antics over there.
Now he's 19 AND JUST GOT HIS ACCEPTANCE LETTER TO THE UNV.. OF HIS CHOICE!!!
That's awesome! Congrats!
(I think we got the idea early on. :lmao:) Why does this not surprise me?? I totally would have done the same thing!! And that's no lie. FREE food is always good! OK, I know your insurance paid far too much than is moral, but hey, you pay too much for IT.
I have a pact with a couple of other guys here at work where if any of us finds free food in the building, leftover from a meeting or something, that we let the others know. We call ourselves "hallway carp".
I got no baby story...although my parents thought I'd be a girl....they had a name picked out and everything..Jennifer Renee.....
A name they considered for Judy was Nellie Belle. I'm not sure I could have married her with that name!
For James, we named him after each of his grandfathers, but we didn't want to tell them until after he was born. But everybody kept bugging us. So I said to Judy, I'm going to open the baby-name book at random, close my eyes, and put my finger down on a name from the left page and then on the right page. That'll be the name we'll tell everybody until he's born. The name: Purvis Quigley.
Somehow they never believed we were really going with that name.
My parents love me. I'm the baby and I play that baby card well even now.;)
Another baby here.
So when our cute, and quite effervescent, blonde haired, Norse waitress served us, Dad was pleased as punch to engage her in all kinds of talk about Norway. He flirts as far as he can get away with and still call it "being friendly". All in all, it was a fabulous meal!
Note to self: brush up on Norway trivia for small-talk at Akershus, got it.
So true!

We're pretty pumped. It now seems more possible we can have someone who could repay the Disney kindness (ie. float a trip) to dear old mom and dad. :rotfl2:

I worked in l&D as a CNA for awhile and we had 1 doctor who said things like that. One day he was breaking someone's "water" and when the girl let out a little "yelp", he told her to be quiet because it doesn't hurt....
I wanted to say, ok buddy...let me stick a crochet hook up your rear end and wiggle it around and see if you think it doesn't hurt.:headache:
we also had a guy call and say he thought his wife's water had broke and what should he do. The nurse asked him why he thought ...looking for typical signs....his answer..........
"because it tastes different than usual"

Okay, Liesa...
I'm still playing catch up and I'm about 100 pages back and I just read your post about the cross-country drive from Portland to Orlando. I cracked up at your description of the Texas part of the drive. Now, I'm a born and raised Texan and I really have no desire to live anywhere else, but... I'm totally with you on the lack of amusing scenery. There are some really beautiful areas, but the stretches of highway that we usually drive are FLAT-out BORING - pun intended.
We live in Waco and drive the 90-something miles north up I35 to Dallas somewhat frequently to visit DH's sister's family. We are bored to death with that drive. A couple of years ago we bought me a new car and instead of trading in my old car we garaged it at my folks' house in Mexia (about 40 east of Waco) with the intention of selling it to our niece (SIL's daughter) a couple of months later. Well, the time came to deliver the car to our niece up in Dallas, so we drove in DH's car over to my folks' house (also a boring, flat, uninteresting drive) and then I followed him in my old car from there to Dallas, north up I45 instead of our usual trek up I35.
When we arrived up in Dallas, we both had the same comment - "That was still SUCH a boring drive with absolutely NOTHING interesting to look at, but at least it was DIFFERENT nothing!"

Honestly, there's not a whole lot new. Mostly just a lot of chatter and fun. I think there's only a couple of real updates. My water situation is all resolved, well at least for today. Last night I heard a drip, went to check and in my enthusiasm for finding the leak, ended up snapping a whole hose all the way off. Water sprayed everywhere, and before I had the wherewithall to aim the spewing gusher at the tub it has soaked my walls- ugh, not again...
Anyway, our system does not have shut off valves for every sink, toilet and tub, so the whole house had to be shut off. Luckily, this morning one of Mike's co-workers was kind enough to come over and get it fixed!! :yay::yay::yay:
So glad to hear that!

His name was Robert Ray, but we all called him Bobby. I tried to Google him last night, but found nothing. I've been told that many of the animators remained relatively anonymous, and only the lead drawers really got any credit. No matter, it's something I'm totally going to frame and cherish.
That is so cool! You've got to post a pic of that when you get it!

We last left off with the bilking of way too much of our cash in a Disney gift shop. How easy it is to spend far, far more than for something identical you can get at your local Target. Rule #1 had been broken on this trip: “Check your weather forecast and pack appropriately”. One funny anecdote I should add here: After several hours on the road, in the house on wheels, much, much too far to turn back for forgotten items, we discovered that I had completely overlooked my daughter Rebekah’s entire bag of clothing! It was a costly and inconvenient mistake, as we had to basically replace her entire 3 weeks of clothing at a Walmart on the way. Luckily, the rollback pricing treated us nicely, and she didn’t have to tour Disney World in her birthday pajamas.
3 days of making magical memories were behind us; we had 1 day left to capture the enchantment of what Disney had to offer. We had already been to the Magic Kingdom twice and had visited the Animal Kingdom for a pitiful half day before leaving quite bored. DHS was not even considered, since I was pretty convinced, as I said before, that it was all about thrill rides and geared more toward the teenage crowd. Obviously, I was wrong on both accounts in my hasty and prejudicial estimation of it. Rule #2 had been broken; that of “Know before you go.”
So, what should we do with our last day’s ticket? Honest to goodness, I wish I remember where we went and what we did, but it just won’t come. If I were to make an educated guess, it was probably either the Magic Kingdom or back to EPCOT. Both were great parks that we loved being in. But as you see, rule #3 had been broken; that of “take notes if you want to remember anything about your trip”.
Memories are like flowers; some are bright and fresh, others seem withered and dying. One last recollection of this trip stands as a defining moment; clear and fresh. I’ll include it here, as it really doesn’t matter when this occasion took place. It could have been on the first day or the last, I don’t remember. Like anyone who has been cooped up with 4 children and 2 parents for 2 weeks straight, I needed a quiet break all to myself. I asked Mom and Dad if they minded if I took off for a couple of hours. Being the kind of people that will give you the moon if you asked, said of course, but only if you take the baby.
So it was, with baby in stroller and time to kill, I started off to nowhere in particular. I really didn’t have a destination, and it was bliss. Realizing I basically had only two options, the boat or the bus, I opted for the easier of them- the boat. The awning topped little launch swing into its berth and on we went. The nice thing about the boats is that you don’t have to fold up your stroller for the ride across the Seven Seas Lagoon. Every parent can certainly appreciate that. But where were we going?? I couldn’t use my ticket to go to a park, and this boat, I soon found out, wasn’t going there anyway. It was headed for the Wilderness Lodge and the Polynesian Resorts. I don’t know what made me decide, but as we pulled up beside the dock at the tropical looking resort, an inner calling took hold of my every urge to explore.
For over an hour, which I had all to myself now since the baby had asleep, I slowly meandered around the lush, yet impeccably groomed grounds of the Poly. The soft Hawaiian and Tahitian background music just added to the overall effect of completely immersing me into a far away, exotic place. Flowers were in bloom, the happy sounds of children frolicking in the pool echoed a bit, and the general sense of peace overwhelmed me; I couldn’t think of a lovelier place to come to and vacation. I cannot begin to really put into words the longing I felt to return here someday, but that would have to wait until almost 11 years later when another chance would arrive. However, as good as all that was, rule #4 had been broken. “Always take your camera with you wherever you go on vacation!” I have no pictures of this first encounter with a resort property. And as good as memories are, they fade like flowers.
To sum up our very first Walt Disney World, I’d say it served to whet our appetite for many more future trips. We made a lot of amateur mistakes, but those by no means ruined our trip. The most important lesson it taught me was that all of us who have done the research, know what we want to do, have plans for touring, make our dining reservations 6 months ahead of time, and even go so far as deciding what we might eat, all have something in common; we all had a first trip. At one point in our own past trips, we didn’t know as much as we did that first time. We’ve all had those moments of getting lost, or not being completely, might I even say “obsessively” prepared. Every day there are Clueless Newbies all around at every park, resort, and property. And they might just be someone who will be at that very moment be having Disney defining moment. And those are quite special- quite special indeed.

Meantime, since we were on the subject of doctors, I remembered a time when my big fat mouth shot off before my brain could put the brakes on.
We were in my GPs office getting a set of stitches sewn into my son's lip. He had slipped off the kitchen stool and did the classic mouth bash act. Every kid does it at least once. You know the momentary lack of judgement in spatial awarenes. He was going over the usual wound care spiel, and telling me in 10 days I'd need to bring him back to get them out. But being the kind of do-it-yourself kind of gal that I am, I thought there's no way I"m paying this guy $150 to take a pair of toenail scissors and clip a few threads out!
So without even thinking twice, I informed him that "It's no big deal, I'd just do it at home; it doesn't take a brain surgeon to do something like (this)."
After a dubious look, I remembered too late that he IS a brain surgeon literally! and has this little office as a SIDE job! :lmao::lmao::lmao: He must have had a good laugh over that one with his martini that night!

Where the doctor-OBGYN said she was moving to Japan (we were in the Airforce at the time, so this was a military doctor)and said...."I can't wait to be out of here and not have to do clinics with pregnant women anymore!" <crickets> Mind you I was there because of clinics at the moment. She also was as skinny as a pencil and would give me a hard time about being thirty pounds over weight when starting out in my pregnancy. Never mind the fact that I had just lost 60 before getting preggers. :sad2: I could go on and on about the horrible things she said to me, but I won't bore y'all. God made up for it by giving me an amazing doctor (who loved what he did) to deliver Mackenzie.

That's awful!! Too bad she spent all that money to get through med. school, only to do something she really didn't want to.
There's definitely a professional and courteous way to tell someone they need to lose weight (and only from a doctor!) and lots of ways to be just plain rude. This falls into the category of being rude.
HA! I just remembered one more. I was at my dermatologist's office for a quick mole removal, that she thought was suspicious. Have you ever had a piece of flesh burned off?? The smell is well, ummm... interesting. I mouthed off saying, "hey that smelled just like the bbq place I ate at last night!"
No comment, whatsoever!

Ko-nee-chee-wa!!!
One of my long standing bucket list items was neatly and deliciously scratched off on Thursday night, and I just had to show you what I got to do!!
As you know, I have a love for learning about other cultures- particularly the cuisines they have to offer. One of my very most favorite kinds is Japanese having practically grown up sitting at a tempura bar in Little Tokyo with my grandparents. They went faithfully EVERY Friday night for over 8 years to visit Hashi, so he could personally serve up his crispy crunchy creations to them. Sushi always sat neatly beside their termpura plates as well.
Whenever I was with them (which was a lot when I was growing up) they took me with them. I learned how to eat with chopsticks at the tender age of 10, and came to adore everything they set before me. I especially liked the sweet potato and the chyrsanthemum leaves! Yum!!
Even today, give me a bowl of steaming miso soup, a huge platter of sushi, and some pickled cucumber salad, and I'm as happy as a pig in a mud puddle; which is exactly what I feel like when I'm done.
So, when we found out that our teammate that would be joining us over here was a first gen. Japanese American, we were thrilled! She is a delightful lady full of grace, charm and a faith that's far beyond my own. She is inspiring to be with and just nice to have around. Last week, she offered to teach me how to cook a few Japanese dishes!! WOOT!! I accepted quickly and we decided that Thursday would work out perfectly.
This is what we ended up cooking together and enjoying:
Miso Soup
Ginger Pork
Stir fried Veggies with sesame seeds
Pickled Cucumber Salad
Rice
We started off with these:
http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll305/All7OfUs/miscfromcamera137.jpg
It is all stuff I'll be able to get at the mega Asian store in Beaverton, OR when we get back!
And we ended up with this: (sorry the pics are a bit blurry! I was using her camera and didn't know what I was doing.)
http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll305/All7OfUs/miscfromcamera143.jpg
http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll305/All7OfUs/miscfromcamera142.jpg

http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll305/All7OfUs/miscfromcamera144.jpg
The last time we were home, I tried some of those instant packets of miso soup mix. GAG ME!! It was awful. I am so grateful I know how to make the real deal now, and the best part is that it is VERY easy!! Way easier than even veggie soup!
So on a day like this: (this is a picture of the frost on her window that she brought over-mine are like that too, but to a lesser degree)
http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll305/All7OfUs/miscfromcamera153.jpg
It was easy to sit and enjoy some of my favorite comfort food!!
Teppan Edo- Here we come!!!

Good Lord, we have a knack for posting at the same time. Almost to the point that it's creepy!
I PM'd Oh Mari, and she told me it's 250, but I wonder if sometimes they just let it go because it's easier that way?? But honestly, I'm thinking it is better to start a new one. I think the length is scaring people off, and it'll be fun to have a fresh start with more readers.
Why are you up at 2:00 AM?? Are you taking lessons from Camille and me??

Miso is a soybean paste (called miso) based soup. The broth is basically flavored with dried fish (that you remove before eating and kombu seaweed- also removed). Then the soybean, tofu, and wakambe seaweeds are added. Maybe it's an acquired taste, but I LOVE it! It's pretty standard fare at any Japanese restaurant.

I think he is, except I'm up later than my new bed time. :sad2: I would love to be in bed, but the stray kitty pee'd all over her blanket and I didn't realize it until I had it up against my clothes, so I had to do laundry. :headache: Yuck! Cat pee doesn't wash out once dried...I couldn't just leave it. It's like 30 degrees out and I didn't want the kitty to freeze, so I had to wash all her towels and blankets we cover her up with, it's about the only time she allows us to get close to her.....well besides feeding her.

I went to Japan in college, but unfortunately we were there for a college football game (sponsored by Coke & trying to get the Japanese interested in American football). The people who fed us figured that we wouldn't eat Japanese food, so we got "American food." Their version, which included french fries for breakfast! :lmao: Guess that's what they thought American kids like to eat! :confused3

Yeah, cat pee hangs around forever! Yuck! Glad you caught it and could get rid of it in time!
So far all our puppies are doing ok in the 20 degrees outside. I started to worry a couple of weeks ago when it was 0 though. I ended up filling some 2 L bottles with hot water and putting them in the dog house with them to help.
I did have a pretty good day. I took a Sunday afternoon nap for the first time in about 3 months. Love that!

Back in the whole no carbs only protein craze that was going on. Didn't lose an ounce. Didn't slow down the gain either! Which was considerable. Both times. :rotfl:
Liesa, that food looks YUMMY!
I'm ambivalent about Miso soup. I always eat it when offered but don't really care much either way about it. However it is warm and cozy, which I like and I do like the flavor, I think it's the texture the paste gives it that makes me kind of meh about it.

Tha ginger pork was stupendous!! So yummy, and soooooooooo easy!! All we did was grate about 2- 2.5 inches of peeled ginger and put that with some slight diluted soy sauce. Marinate for about an hour, flash fry and voila!! Super fast nomminess.
The tofu chunks put it on the no-go list for a couple of my kids. They like it marinated and fried in sesame oil, but not in the soup. Ah well, can't win 'em all.

My DH tried to do that too for my last year's Christmas present. We have a local here who moved back from China, and he thought it'd be fun to get some lessons from him, but it just never worked out. The thought was nice though, as he knows I love to cook. We have tons of Koreans here too, and I'd love a lesson from one of our friends, but unfortuntately, they've come pretty far from the authentic stuff you'd find in Korea. But I do love me some bulgogi!

Thanks for the compliment! I found these boards since I'm the "planner" in the family and in reading all of your TRs and PTRs have gotten drawn-into your lives a little bit. But then, if you're reading this, you already know what I'm talking about! I do feel a little weird when I tell my wife about the going's on in Blankastan and SoCal and Utah and the Pacific Northwest and Canada and Mexico and Alamenia (ha! I remembered, if Magdalene ever reads this since I accidentally left her out earlier this week) and all the rest. But she's never even so much as rolled her eyes at my growing obsession here. No, I take that back...she understood a trip report, but couldn't fathom why anyone would write a pre-trip report. Anyway, I hope that some day she'll come on here. I know she'd like it, and I've suggested a few TRs that she should read.

OK, here's the deal with gagging. I've figured out if the toothpaste is really strong, or even one molecule goes too far back- I gag. AND the sink has to be clean. No hairs!!
Whips- there is a wide variety to choose from here- mainly used for horses... :rolleyes1
Scents- Let's just hope GB or Jordan don't get a whiff of this conversations
Veggies! :cloud9: My favorite is a nice big Ceasar Salad- loaded with garlic to enhance the scent. :lmao:

And if you're in my line of work, we regularly cover, intestinal infections, using blow torches on sheep skin, and how to evacuate in case of riot or coup. :rotfl2::lmao:
