Liesa - How is Bekka today? Or tonight for you?

StefaniLyn

I hope I'm not too late! Busy morning around here! I am going to guess California Grill. It's the only state name I could come up with!

So if I don't get extra points for being first:sad2:, and no favors for the spell check:guilty:, can I have more for coming in last:thumbsup2? :confused3 Hey, a girls gotta try!:rotfl2:

This place is about as far as it can be in the Continental US from its namesake. I'm sure the cooking methods it employs are far more extensive than its name suggests as well.

Tim was responsible for Kona; someone else is responsible for this one. Her TR is being well-drawn out, but we "never expected that", did we? ;)

I'm pretty sure I know which "expecting" lady is responsible here, so I'm going to guess California Grill.

Did you ever give an answer to the last clue? My friend Word helped me on that one, but I think I'm too late. :sad2:

Phew! I was behind! Well, I had the answer for #9, but I see you posted #10 - which I have no idea on. Did you post the answer yet for #9, if so, I missed it. I came up with Starring Rolls. This, mind you, after writing it on paper and pulling up a list of dining plan restaurants, and working on it for at least 5 minutes! No, I am NOT good at scrabble.

Liesa, how is Bekka - any better yet?

I zipped on over here from my PTR to hopefully see more discussion about that topic you've been fermenting, uh.. fomenting... but nada. So now I must pry - can you reveal any more yet?

Okay, caught up a bit more

About that letter: What an amazing find!!!! I would faint if I ever found something like that letter in my grandparents belongings. You truly have Disney blood. Too bad your grandmother never took the job. Who knows what life would've been like....

The 10 commandments are perfect. Arm flab :lmao: Love it!

The frozen bananas look sooo yummy! Will have to give them a try one of these days. Great way to get fruit into my diet  Wow, thanks for sharing all these great recipes. I can relate to the whole gallbladder attack... Not to say that I've ever had one but when I got my appendix out, they also found that I have gallstones. I've really been trying to watch my fat intake since then but it's so hard when you show me stuff like this!!! Heck, I just ate two Oreos after looking at all those pictures :rotfl:

I guess then, we both have grammar issues. We can start therapy together. :lmao:

WDW therapy sounds just about right - see Tim's suggestion below.

So what you are saying is if I wrote my sentence a 'normal' manner, we wouldn't be talking about this?

See 'You both write better than I do!':lmao:

Sure we can! Right over in front of Aloha Isle! :drinking1 :rotfl:

I think Liesa and I are the abnormal ones with our grammar issues and that you are quite normal. So keep up the gooder writing because its much more affective than are grammatically correct nonsense. ;)

All7OfUs
01-19-2010, 11:46 PM
Well, I believe you are both correct in that me should have been used in that case. Whenever I am not sure, I usually reword my sentence in a way that I am sure is correct (I know - I have issues ). For example, I would have reworded the sentence to say - You write much better than I do.

As for the latest RD, I had to think about this one but then I think I got it - California Grill. I do have to be careful not to read my e-mails or to look to closely or I can see the white too.

OK, no checking e-mails first, or highlighting, or scrolling down below the reply box. Not that you'd do any of those... ;) but this one, I'll admit, I made easier, since the last few (before Starring Rolls) were tough.

Sometimes I forget the "re-arrange" your sentence technique. But it really does help especially with subj. vs. obj. cases! I"ve been reading more Austen lately. Man, that is such beautiful English, and so witty and funny!!

So what you are saying is if I wrote my sentence a 'normal' manner, we wouldn't be talking about this?

See 'You both write better than I do!'

Sure we can! Right over in front of Aloha Isle! :drinking1

Yes!!! Aloha Isle!!! Everyone's invited!

Going with

California Grill

Thankfully the white doesn't show up on my puter either. Of course that could have more to do with the lack of coffee so far and the nasty head cold/sinus infection, it's all a bit blurry today.

Yeah, lack happening here too. It's 10:15 here. I'm ususally up with coffee chatting with ya'll by 9:15, but the puppies had to come first today. It's -20C again this morning, and they really needed to get in the house to warm up and eat!

i'm gonna guess cali grill since it's the only place i can think of thats namesake is in the continental U.S. if i'm right i believe that brings my score up to an impressive 2!

Then we're totally even on each other's games!!! :lmao: The one before last kicked my butt!

4 pages!?!?!?

Overnight?

You guys do know we have to start Volume II when it hits 250, right? :rotfl2:

Is this me?!?!

I know, I was thinking that this one would conveniently end just about hte time we are done with RD!!! Then we can start Vol Dos with the next series of fun stuff!

I think I was stressed. I have been at Lauren's house for 8 days now. :faint:

It is impossible for me to be at her house and not pitch in and help - and I am exhausted.

But it is back to my condo after I "work" with Lauren tonight (my regular night during the week to help her)...bless her heart - she is so stressed about school with a major paper due and science fair and she is taking the ACT in a couple of weeks.

'll bet you are!!! Lauren takes a lot of care! I hope you get a well-deserved break soon!

Ahhhhh......

Maybe you are the cuplrit! :rolleyes1

BINGO!

Liesa - How is Bekka today? Or tonight for you?

Not better, AT ALL! Time to call the doctor. Now she has the trots, and her fever is not down one iota. Poor thing. I'm sorta thinking she has the flu, in which case an anti won't help at all.

I hope I'm not too late! Busy morning around here! I am going to guess California Grill. It's the only state name I could come up with!

So if I don't get extra points for being first:sad2:, and no favors for the spell check:guilty:, can I have more for coming in last:thumbsup2? Hey, a girls gotta try!:rotfl2:

No wonder you're a school board member; you're good at "suggesting" options and mediating. Shall I even mention schmoozing?? :lmao:

I'm pretty sure I know which "expecting" lady is responsible here, so I'm going to guess California Grill.

Did you ever give an answer to the last clue? My friend Word helped me on that one, but I think I'm too late. :sad2:

Yes, I did. Kinda embedded in a post of replies I think. I need to get the game sped up just a little since we are running out of pages here to work with and I don't want it to "spill" over onto Vol Dos.

As far as the game goes, as long as you don't highlight or read your e-mail updates then google, word yahoo or any other helps is fine! ;)

Phew! I was behind! Well, I had the answer for #9, but I see you posted #10 - which I have no idea on. Did you post the answer yet for #9, if so, I missed it. I came up with Starring Rolls. OK, can I be honest? I completely forgot what was fomenting. Was it about jobs? Changing our dates? Whether I should go have some cereal or an egg for breakfast?? I CAN'T REMEMBER!! This is no surprise. No coffee yet.

You seem genuine in your plea for Starring Roll points. Which makes me think I should give Pollito a point too. I need to get this game over with, but don't want to leave anyone out because they couldn't get to the computer.

My power was off last night for many hours, and I probably missed one of Tinkgurl's game questions, but oh well. At least I'm ahead over there. But it wouldn't have been because I missed it on purpose. ;)

i feel so left out i am always behind on the clues and i am a chicken nuggets kinda girl anyway so i havent been to most of the restaurants anyway, but i just wanted to let you know i am still reading along (and i can see the white replies on my laptop too)
so hi everyone:goodvibes

Don't feel left out! You're a valuable team member. (That sounds like a McDonalds staff meeting, doesn't it?! :rotfl2::lmao:) Seriously, it's fun to have a variety of people and personalities here adding to the fun! See, you go for the quick foods and we need reviews of that stuff too!!

OK, for answering, just read the clue via the link on the Pt III TOC on page one then don't scroll down for the answers, just hit reply right away!

I still have that letter hanging in my bedroom in a letter holder thingy I got from Thailand. I see every time I walk in my room, and it reminds me of the good times I had with her! Which coincidentally always included a frozen banana. Gma and Gpa were fanatics about making sure their grandkids ate healthy food, and that was one of the treats she'd let me get on our Disney days.

Feel free to add additional suggestions for Commandments. THere was some pretty funny banter about those if I recall!! :lmao: Limiting farting to the balcony was a hot topic!

P.S. Did you see your hilarious typo on your last update??

In order to keep up the pace of this collection of fun, I'm going to go ahead and post the answer to the latest Round of Rations Drop. Most of those who have been playing along have already gotten their very correct guesses in; in fact, no one who guessed this time around was mistaken. The couple before Starring Rolls were admittedly a bit tougher, so I felt compelled to give you all a chance at some easy points!! :yay:

It was indeed:

THE CALIFORNIA GRILL

I think of all our dining choices, we, collectively, are looking most forward to this one!! You know, wayyyyyyyyyyyy back in Dec. of LAST year when this whole crazy idea of going with strangers was just an infant in my mind, I had no inkling that we'd even entertain the idea of hitting a signature dinner joint. Such lavish rations were just not even on my radar. But then maroo suggested we think about it. OK, I told her I'd think about it.

Then I read this:

TK's Perfect Palatable, Perhaps Even Delightful Dinner Review of the Cali Grill (http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=34802546&postcount=325)

That was it.

I had to go here.

In fact, I daresay, it has become an obsession. Our goal is to time it so that we watch Wishes from here as well. What can be more perfect than a fancy meal combined with fantastical pyrotechnics??

Then I read this:

Shannon's Reveiw of her favoirte meal on property. Peeps, I haven't seen a bad review of this place yet. I'm sure there have been some off evenings, but whatever I read just feeds my lust for wanting to experience this place.

Shannon's Stellar Review of the Cali. (http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=34802546&postcount=325)

Points coming up soon!

There's only 3 more after this, so make the most of them. They are going to come fast, so don't blink! The 250 page limit for threads is coming up quickly, and I want to get this game wrapped up before we hit that, so we can start with a clean slate (whatever THAT means around here). :lmao:

That is sooooooo encouraging. Seriously with all the hype and frenzy I've buried myself in, I hope it delivers and disappointment isn't looming.

I'd have loved to have been your server that night!!! Are you sure that a couple bottles of wine didn't color your generosity?? :lmao:

I think his name was Scott... or Steve...it started with a S.

As I remember I don't think we had that much to drink with dinner. I'm not big on wine anyway...

Honestly, the food is probably something you'd fine in any nice restaurant across America, certainly not at a chain restaurant though. It's everything combined together--the atmosphere, the location, the view, the service, the food, being on vacation....it's really a nice way to spend an evening.

When completely full, it can get noisy. Also there's no way to guarantee a window seat. In fact, out of 4-5 visits, I think we've been seated along the windows once. It's still great.

If it was 2005, I doubt he'd be there. :confused3 I'll ask for an S server though, just in case.

Seems like the perfect ingredients for a perfect evening. I'm pretty sure, as I told Jenbear the other day, I'm going to get the cheese platter, some sushi, and MAYBE a main course?? Wine for sure! and dessert, but haven't decided on the dessert. That will be a game time decision.

I don't mind being on the window. Whatever. We will get up and move for Wishes anyways.

I knew I'd run into you tonight (your time). Yeah, it's 3:30 PM, and my kids are almost done with school. Only reading left for Zach.

Well, and Spanish with Bekka. I do that with her, since I'm moving back to the US and I'll likely need it-being in OR.

It's fun!

Anyway, between that and teaching my househelper to make chicken parmesan, it's been a busy day! Of course feeding and warming the puppies adds a boatload of work to my day too. I'm thankful for my DISsing breaks where I can catch up on everyone's threads. :thumbsup2

Sounds like a busy day!! Your wearing me out just talking about it. ;) I heard about the puppies over on Blue's thread I think. I can't keep them all straight.
Today was uneventful, I have a headache I'm trying to get rid of before going off to bed. Mackenzie is pretty easy to homeschool, so I didn't have to do to much with her, it's usually English I feel I have to stay on top of with her. Everything else she flys through without much issue.
:banana::banana: I'm so excited. My DH and I talked this evening and I told him I was getting anxious about our trip and not having anything in stone yet i.e. flights booked or the Disney part paid off. So.....he gave me the go to use the credit card to pay off the trip!! I hate using them, but he said it's smarter this way incase something happens we can have the credit card compay deal with the issues rather than us. I knew I married my Mr. Incredible for a reason. ;)

Some days are great with teaching, some days not so much. It's only DS that takes so much time. It's just so, so hard for him. When I have days that are hard, I have to remind myself that he isn't in a wheelchair drooling. I really have to count my blessings and work with where he IS at. Behind? Yes. Able to make SOME progress? Yes! All is good. Could it be better? Of course.

We must have had similar conversations with DHs on the same day. ;) I mentioned to mine that we are only about 5 weeks away from Southwest releasing Sept. airfares and that I was getting anxious that we weren't in a place for me to make a purchase.

He told me that I should just proceed as if things were going to stay on course for us to go when planned.:banana: I know lots could "happen" (his mother is actually dying) or ????? who knows what else??

I think he is finally understanding how important this is to me, but is much more apt to also understand that so many things could come between me and my trip.

I know what you mean about the issues getting in the way, at least your DH knows how important it is to you and gives a flip.
My DH gets the importance, but can still be a stuck-in-the-mud at times when it comes to understanding wanting to do things like meets. It doesn't matter that we would have been at the same place at the exact same time, he just doesn't get that this site holds some dear people for me. I realize we are all in reality strangers in the sense we haven't met, but to me when you get to know as much as we all do about one another, and helping one another through the all sorts of things we do.....well, I do really feel like we've all become a tight knit little community. I get where he's coming from, he's thinking with his head as most men do and there's nothing wrong with that, but we're all thinking with our hearts as most women do, of course there is the exception to the rule of wonderful men like Glennbo, G.B., Jordy of course, Dan, and others who I'm drawing a blank on if there are any. But I was hoping for a middle of the road meeting of minds, it's just the one meet over dinner at WGPExpress.
Of course as a Christian wife, I don't want to dishonor him or his feelings (or lack there of in this situation) and not honor his wishes about such things. He said he wasn't comfortable, and so I thought no biggie, I'll just meet with them later or earlier, on the day we get in, not a problem, right? He then said, "Well you meeting someone who's a stranger doesnt' make me feel comfortable either." I laughed and said "Well your really gonna hate me going in June 2012 then!" DH-"Why, what's happening in June two years from now?" Me- "A big Dis-meet with a bunch of us from the boards." He didn't have a thrilled look on his face to say the least. Me-"Look, I'm not expecting you to come with me, if that's what your thinking." Trust me I know better. DH-"Well that's good, at least you know it's not my thing." He'll come around I'm sure, he just doesn't like change and he doesnt' like anything out of his comfort zone. As it is, it took him 15 years to finally come up with us going on a vacation as a family just the four of us and it not involve going to his families house in California, or them coming with us. :scared1:
 Never mind I had to beg for most of those years. That's OK, I knew eventually it had to be his idea. ;) Going to his families use to be fine when they lived in Southern Calif., those are my old young adult stompin grounds and I could actually make a go of pushing for Disney Land to make the whole trip tolerable, but now they are up in Northern Calif. so it's not as much fun. :sad2: His family can be great, and really quickly not so great and you never know what your going to get....yes, yes, they are like a box of chocolates. :rotfl:

OK now the pressure is on. I'm in a three way tie for first! :scared:

FYI I will be gone all weekend... one of my Christmas presents from Mel was a cruise to no-where.. not to be mixed up with the 3 hour tour. It is on Norwegian and leaves out of NYC for one night. You get to have lunch, dinner, and breakfast on the ship. Go to a show, go bowling, hit the casino... basically anything you can do on a regular cruise only it's one night. So I will be gone all of Saturday and most of Sunday. :rolleyes1

:rotfl:

I totally agree with you here...the DIS can be a very tight knit community and these are real friends. As hard as it is to explain to people that have never experienced it, I have met enough DISers at this point to know that it is real friendship that is forged on the DIS. For those of us that just live life on here and really invest time, the rewards are strong friendships.

I have absolutely not the foggiest idea of HOW on earth I could have missed your truly heartfelt and open post on the last page!! I would have responded much, much sooner had I seen it!! Sheesh!!

Your guy and mine must be clones!!! Seriously, you so elegantly and perfectly stated exactly mine's thinking- exactly! Amazing! I won't add anything, but I. GET. IT!

I'm exhausted tonight. Really, really tired. The puppies are sucking my time like RotoRooter sucks gray water. On top of that my dog bit the carp out of my finger. I wasn't holding the bribery bread high enough) and she mistook my finger for a tasty morsel. Yes, I kicked the dog. It hurt, and still does.

Sorry, I sound like a big fat whiner.

:rolleyes1

http://www.ncl.com/nclweb/booking/cruisedetails.html?packageId=1942600

PRESSURE!! I can't stand it- this is going to be VERY, VERY exciting!!

You must check at least once this weekend for updates. I"m sure they have an internet port on the ship. ;) I've totally got antz in my pantz about finishing up RD!!!

Thanks for the compliment! I found these boards since I'm the "planner" in the family and in reading all of your TRs and PTRs have gotten drawn-into your lives a little bit. But then, if you're reading this, you already know what I'm talking about! I do feel a little weird when I tell my wife about the going's on in Blankastan and SoCal and Utah and the Pacific Northwest and Canada and Mexico and Alamenia (ha! I remembered, if Magdalene ever reads this since I accidentally left her out earlier this week) and all the rest. But she's never even so much as rolled her eyes at my growing obsession here. No, I take that back...she understood a trip report, but couldn't fathom why anyone would write a pre-trip report. Anyway, I hope that some day she'll come on here. I know she'd like it, and I've suggested a few TRs that she should read.

After this much writing, I don't even remember the point I wanted to make with this whole post. I guess I wanted to add that I do understand your husbands apprehensiveness at meeting people you've corresponded with on the internet. Both for himself, because he doesn't know the people at all, and for you, since there are a lot of bad stories out there of people getting hurt or leaving their spouses, etc. I don't know that I have any advice for you.

Hey Camille I wanted to echo Glenbo here. One thing that has really helped my DH with all of this is the fact that I've been online with various boards for a long time and he's seen/met some of my expecting group friends that I met online 10 years ago and he's seen the strenght and longevity of the friendships.

Of course then again, the fact that he and I met online might help. :rotfl:

He gets the research aspect (as much as he makes fun of it, he loves it) but I don't ever see him reading TR's himself, at least for Disney. He does however read them for things HE has a passion for (in his case, crazy seaplane trips!) and again, that helps him relate. As a result while he thinks I'm a little nutty, he does humor me most of the time.

Liesa...OW on the finger! I can imagine the instinctive reaction to kick.

It's an honor to be inclued in Millies list of Dis Dudes. I get the whole concept of worrying over meets. I'd be the same way. But I do agree on the value of Dis Friendships. We're a crazy lot, but lovable and I know many who will be lifelong pals.

I knew I'd run into you tonight (your time). Yeah, it's 3:30 PM, and my kids are almost done with school. Only reading left for Zach.

Well, and Spanish with Bekka. I do that with her, since I'm moving back to the US and I'll likely need it-being in OR.

I felt I was extremely insensitive to not address some of the things you said in these two posts, so I'm going back. :lovestruc OK, first off, I finally truly caught what you said about needing spanish to live in OR, those are words I never thought I would hear together. That's to funny. Is there a plethora of spanish speaking people in OR? :confused3

Anyway, between that and teaching my househelper to make chicken parmesan, it's been a busy day! Of course feeding and warming the puppies adds a boatload of work to my day too. I'm thankful for my DISsing breaks where I can catch up on everyone's threads. :thumbsup2

It must be a God send having help in the house, especially since you homeschool. I know a lot of women where I live who would be thrilled to have a house helper while they homeschooled all day, they of course have more than one child like you, so I totally understand.
It's funny to see what some cultures think as a norm and what some don't. In America we don't think having a house helper or a nanny is something you have unless you work out of the home for the most part, or your filthy rich.
Where as other cultures don't see it that way at all, in fact it would probably be considered rude (probably not the right term) in some places if you didn't hire help.
A few years back, a friend of mine told me about her husband making a snide remark about her being more like the Proverbs 31 woman. He thought she didn't do enough, even though she took care of the kids, did house work and took care of the home in many other ways. He thought she should be more like the proverbial woman and do more outside the home to make money etc.
I told her if he's that intent on you becoming more like this Prov. 31 woman, she better go back and read it thoroughly! She thought I was nuts until I said the woman in the Bible had maidservants! She did all she did because she had tremedous help with the cooking, cleaning, and the watching over the kids if she needed to go haggle a deal for a field.  All the sudden the Proverbs 31 woman idea was brilliant, so when she went to inform her husband she would be more than willing to become this woman along with the household help....he didn't find it to be a good idea any more, :sad2: the subject was never brought up after that. :rotfl2: Not to say aspiring to be this woman isn't a good thing, it just wasn't the proper tone to have set in this situation.
Of course.
Liesa, I wish I knew what to say. My heart goes out to you on this and I know that things will not stay this way for ever. Just because your baby isn't in a chair, drooling doesn't mean your dealing with any less reality to your situation. These things should not be compaired in matters of frustration and heartache, but rather proper perspective. Which I'm sure is what your trying to do for the most part, try not to be to hard on yourself . I can't imagine how frustrating it must be, and not because of the work you have to put in with your child, but rather watching him struggle and feeling helpless to it. All this will change when you get back to the states where you can get some help. :) And no guilt! It's a wasted emotion, besides it doesn't come from God, so round can it. :upsidedow

We must have had similar conversations with DHs on the same day. ;) I mentioned to mine that we are only about 5 weeks away from Southwest releasing Sept. airfares and that I was getting anxious that we weren't in a place for me to make a purchase.
We just discussed this same thing. We go in May so our dates have been released already, but I'm anxious to get on the ball. I don't think the prices for us are going to be any less as time goes on. I hope I'm wrong. Who do you fly out with for the first leg of the trip to get into the states?

He told me that I should just proceed as if things were going to stay on course for us to go when planned.:banana: I know lots could "happen" (his mother is actually dying) or ????? who knows what else??
Well, I suppose anything could happen, so he's being wise to say go ahead as planned. I wish there wasn't so many things up in the air, it must stink to think about your MIL looming in illness.

I think he is finally understanding how important this is to me, but is much more apt to also understand that so many things could come between me and my trip.
Let's just pray and hope it doesn't and if it does, it sounds like you've got some amazing friends who will totally understand. :grouphug:

Dear All,

It's been a long night/day. We got a phonecall at 4:00 this morning from my own mother, after my SIL wrote a note via FB- strange how news of this magnitude can be carried along.

Mom passed away after morning coffee in an ambulance on the way to the hospital. It may have been an embolism in her lung that might have been precipitated by the draining procedure she had had earlier in the week.

In a way, all of us are relieved a bit, in that she didn't have to suffer with a long drawn out death from cancer. It is sweet that after her morning coffee with her husband of almost 50 years she passed relatively peacefully. What a tender way God showed her mercy.

Thank you each for your sympathies!! They mean a lot to me. It has been a tough year, as our family has shrunken by 3 (very soon to be 4, my DD's father is very ill as well) members. I'm glad I have a place to come and find support and love.

We spent the wee hours buying airline tickets, and are thankful we found seats and a fair price. He will be home by Saturday to support and be with his family. His sisters have been by Dad's side since a few hours after her passing. So really, all is as good as it can be.

I have no idea how this will affect our return. I don't know if it will speed us up or not. :confused3

Anyhow, I will be here alone with the kids for 2 and a half weeks. I really hope everything will go smoothly here! Our cistern is frozen, so if the water goes off, we won't have a backup for water. The puppies add in incredible amount of extra work, but the kids have been very good about helping out. PTL!

All for now,

Liesa

Just something to pass along, these are the lyrics to Carrie Underwood's new song that SHE wrote. The last verse while sad is actually so happy because we know we'll all be together, reunited, someday. This is just our Temporary Home.

Little boy, 6 years old
A little too used to bein' alone
Another new mom and dad, another school
Another house that'll never be home
When people ask him how he likes this place
He looks up and says with a smile upon his face

"This is my temporary home
It's not where I belong
Windows and rooms that I'm passin' through
This is just a stop, on the way to where I'm going
I'm not afraid because I know this is my
Temporary Home."

Young mom on her own
She needs a little help got nowhere to go
She's lookin' for a job, lookin' for a way out
Because a half-way house will never be a home
At night she whispers to her baby girl
Someday we'll find a place here in this world

"This is our temporary home
It's not where we belong
Windows and rooms that we're passin' through
This is just a stop, on the way to where we're going
I'm not afraid because I know this is our
Temporary Home.

Old man, hospital bed
The room is filled with people he loves
And he whispers don't cry for me
I'll see you all someday
He looks up and says "I can see God's face"

"This is my temporary Home
It's not where I belong
Windows and rooms that I'm passin' through
This was just a stop,on the way To where I'm going
I'm not afraid because I know this was

Isn't it true? Their favorite ritual was the morning espresso and they were VERY devoted to their quiet times with coffee at the dining room table every morning. How sweet that she left this earth with that happening!

We are indeed relieved that she did not suffer long. We suspect it may not have been cancer that actually killed her in the long run, but rather an embolism in her lung that may have been dislodged during her draining procedure a few days ago. :confused3 Apparently, she had noticed a lump or clot in her leg and mentioned it to Dad yesterday?? So, maybe that was the Lord's way of relieving her pain.

Just prayer that I can handle the 4 kids here at home, keep them to the task, and that no big problems will arise like water or power.

You ARE a whiner!! ;):lmao:

Thank you so much, Shannon. He is on his flight now, and just in time too. About an hour ago it started snowing BUCKETS. First real snow of the year.

That was Mom's big fear, to linger on in anxiety and worry about how, and if there'd be pain, etc.... There is none of that now, and she needn't have been anxious.

Mel and I are excited for this weekend, as any married couple with kids knows, it is nice to have a little alone time. And when I get back on Sunday I'll be ready to take on the other contestants to win! ;);)

Yes, you should PM me.

You and Mel should be VERY excited for this weekend!! The cruise looks and sounds lovely! We have this one and then 2 more to go. So 3 possible points left. I will leave this one up for a spell. Maybe 24-36 hours. Then the next one will go up hopefully on Saturday night my time. Things will be touch and go here as I'm home all alone with the kids and 7 puppies.

Ha! Ha!

I thought Maroo was the master enabler too! Maybe we can have different categories of enabling?

I totally agree with you here...the DIS can be a very tight knit community and these are real friends. As hard as it is to explain to people that have never experienced it, I have met enough DISers at this point to know that it is real friendship that is forged on the DIS. For those of us that just live life on here and really invest time, the rewards are strong friendships.

I have a few friends that are like a box of chocolates. ;)

I have given up trying to explain it to people so now I just refer to DIS friends like I would any other friend and don't get into specifics.

Wanted to share that DHs mother passed away this morning...

Please pray for us...
M

More later.

I am so sorry for your loss!

Mom passed away after morning coffee in an ambulance on the way to the hospital.
In a way, all of us are relieved a bit, in that she didn't have to suffer with a long drawn out death from cancer. It is sweet that after her morning coffee with her husband of almost 50 years she passed relatively peacefully. What a tender way God showed her mercy.

:confused3

I am glad she went peacefully and on terms that give you all a bit of comfort. I am also glad that your DH can be there with his family at this time but am sorry that you can't all be together. Hang in there! I know you will have plenty to keep you busy holding down the fort.

A Question of NOTS:

1) This place is NOT in one of the parks.

2) This restaurant is NOT a quiet, understated kind of place.

3) Eating here is NOT for those without adventurous palettes.

4) Do NOT approach the desserts if you do NOT want to be tempted.

5) You will NOT see characters at this place.

6) Soldier #1 has NOT eaten here.

7) Soldier #2 has NOT NOT eaten here.

8) There is NOT a letter N in the name of the place.

9) One can NOT leave here without being utterly satisfied and stuffed.

10) A little bunny with a goofy name does NOT hop around this place, although his namesake dish can be eaten here.

Love the Clues - the Not Not almost threw me for a minute but a reread and the little bunny clue sealed the deal. My guess is Boma

We've definitely had a rotten year as far as relatives dying goes. Too many in too short a time. She was a an amazing testimony of faith and prayer to us.

She had a wonderful family who adored her. We'll really miss her, Dawn. I just got off the phone with my DS, 19, and he of all the kids is taking it the hardest. He is really emotional, and he's very rarely that way. I wish I could be closer than a long-distance phone call away.

Thanks! I just got a call from him, in fact. He landed in the capital and is checked into the hotel. Great news! He says it is a very nice place, not at all like the other ones we've stayed at. And it's half the price he thought it'd be! :thumbsup2 Hopefully he can start the cross-Atlantic leg well rested.

She didn't suffer much! For that we are very thankful!

That is one of my sincerest hopes!! Things are so in flux right now, and to be very honest, we (well, me) were secretly hoping that some circumstance would come along to make things more clear. I didn't think it would be this drastic, but it totally would not surprise me AT ALL if he came home and said we need to pack it up right now and high tail it home.

Wishing Mike a peaceful 8 hours, hopefully he can hunker down and hide and be left alone. What a blessing he beat the snow.

You are entitled to a Scarlett moment. Though hunkering down with a glass of wine and the kiddo's with a movie sounds like a darn good idea.

It is, but it's something we counted the cost of when we chose to move here. We knew that sometime over the course of 10 years or more, something like this would come up. But as with most deaths, we thought it wouldn't be something quite so sudden.

But anywhoo, your PTR is amazing, I love your writing and I love how your trip came to be. I had read about the dismeet on somebody elses TR that I was lurking on last year and then I get to read another version of the same account here. It's so cool.

I am far back in this PTR, like page 12 but I do plan to keep reading and hopefully will be all caught before my September trip.

Math is a subject that bears the brunt of much hilarity and joking around here. Just so you're warned. maroo does all our math, but mistakenly miscalculated my leftover brain one day, so was almost kicked off of math duty.

That sounds like a northwest kind of thing. ;) If she knew what real yurts were like, she'd probably think that it wasn't such a romantic idea. They are full of fleas and ticks from the animals they let wander in, they aren't so warm when it's -35 out, and when the wind blows they are a ton of maintenance. If you haven't seen the Weeping Camel, I can highly recommend it for a great real life view of what life is like in a yurt.

In response to today's clue I'm going to have to guess Boma. Mostly because of the "adventurous" part of the clue. I can't figure out anything related to a bunny with a goofy name.

 for your baby who's cough and fever need to take a hike! Rebekah, I'm praying for your bug to go away. Be sure to get plenty of rest, I have no doubt your mama is taking good care of you. :lovestruc
Not sure I can last out to see you tonight. I'm trying to get my schedule turned back around, last night I actually went to bed about 1:00 a.m., which is really good for me.

Liesa I am so sorry to hear about your mother in law. What a devastating loss to your family. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your entire family.

I'm so far behind and will try to catch up this weekend. I can't even fathom a guess for #11 right now but since I'm to far behind I am not going to rack my already aching brain. Good luck to those who are jockeying for the lead!

You have been busy and stressed out yourself with your own grief as well. Thanks for taking the time to come over to offer your sympathies! It's been a hard year in general for us- and it's not about to let up yet I think.

 for your baby who's cough and fever need to take a hike! Rebekah, I'm praying for your bug to go away. Be sure to get plenty of rest, I have no doubt your mama is taking good care of you. :lovestruc

I've always wondered what kind of work you do that keeps you up late- or if it is just your body's schedule to be a night owl?? I thought for a while you might work swing shift or something.

Today, Rebekah finally got sick enough that I called the doctor we put her on an antibiotic. It was one of those cases where it's just not clear if it's a viral cold or flu of if it is an infection that drugs would help. She really needed to either get worse or better, and as weird as that sounds, I'm glad she got bad enough for me to really know. The doc says she should start to feel much better already by tomorrow morning, so I'm encouraged.

HOWEVER, Not enough sleep+Major amounts of stress+ Extra work load+ Infection in the house= The Perfect Storm to Make Someone Else Sick. That ended up being me today. I woke up at 4:30 to starving puppies screaming at the door, so up it was to feed them. I felt progressively worse and by 10:00 when my househelper came I was so bad I simply had to go back to bed. My head feels like it's going to explode off. I just stuck a thermometer in my mouth.... hang on

20 seconds, 45 seconds

Okay meantime, I'll just tell you that we're having Shepherd's Pie for dinner, but my househelper bought peas instead of green beans. :sad2: She saw the word "green" (in Blankastani) and guessed at what vegetable I was talking about. Ah well, it's hot food, and I didn't have to cook it. :yay:

1 minute

2 minutes....

Nope no fever? OK, why do I feel this bad?? Weird. My goal is to get another episode of A Newbie's Trip- Clueless Style up tonight- we'll see.

I feel like I never got to this post as things turned sour just as you put it up. First off, Western Oregon has a HUGE Hispanic population. In the town of Woodburn alone the demographics say that it is 26% Latino!!!!! The reason is the high agriculture, but many are becoming permanent citizens. Yeah, I'm going to need/ want some Spanish. ;)

[COLOR="Purple"]It must be a God send having help in the house, especially since you homeschool. I know a lot of women where I live who would be thrilled to have a house helper while they homeschooled all day, they of course have more than one child like you, so I totally understand.

It is truly a Godsend having Gulnara to help me! When we first arrived, I was literally drowning in dishes and laundry. I did VERY little else, as I had to study language 40 hours a week. :teacher:

It's funny to see what some cultures think as a norm and what some don't. In America we don't think having a house helper or a nanny is something you have unless you work out of the home for the most part, or your filthy rich.
Where as other cultures don't see it that way at all, in fact it would probably be considered rude (probably not the right term) in some places if you didn't hire help.

It would be very weird for me to NOT have a helper around the house. Here's how it works here. The youngest male child ALWAYS stays home after he is married, and his wife becomes the "slave" of the home. They are expected to care for the aging parents, but in return inherit the home and land. So there is always a helper in the home. For older siblings and their families, there is a social system of younger women being obligated to help when circumstances arise such as parties, new babies, etc... to go over and help the relative. So, to have someone around to share the load is normal, and necessary. No one has ever batted an eye about us having someone to help with shopping, prep cooking, laundry, or cleaning. She also pays our bills and navigates property/neighbor issues. Most women in the US HAVE househelpers but do not realize it. They are called vacuum cleaners, butchers who grind their meat for them, clothes dryers, automatic bill pay, and sidewalks to keep most of the mud out of the house. We have none of those.

Pul-eeze.... but then again, I don't know the whole story either.

Let's just pray and hope it doesn't and if it does, it sounds like you've got some amazing friends who will totally understand. :grouphug:

She is an amazing role model that's for sure!! But from a completely different culture with different social obligations than we have. Nevertheless, we can certainly learn a lot from her!

I think I'm finally caught back up. I see I'm doing poorly on the rations drop. Seems like I just never get here in time. But that's okay. I'll happily hold down the rear of the train. If there's a raiding party, I'll let you know.

It's an honor to be inclued in Millies list of Dis Dudes. I get the whole concept of worrying over meets. I'd be the same way. But I do agree on the value of Dis Friendships. We're a crazy lot, but lovable and I know many who will be lifelong pals.

I don't think it's from lack of knowledge, but more from missing a clue or 2 due to the busy-ness of life. Don't worry about it; it was really meant to be a fun source of diversion rather than a cut throat game, right?? (Shhhh, don't tell Tim or Cynthia, though)

Mine is apprehensive too, (good word, Glenn) but has gotten used to me telling him of maroo and all the drama in her world. By the way, if I ever get down to meet up with our friends in Lorena, we'll be sure to look you up :)

Interesting on the Spanish. Evan's school is the ESL school for the east side of our district and so we have some exposure to it but I was fascinated to see on Eric's teacher conference schedule 3 different translators scheduled for the parent conferences.

Of course now I can't recall which languages but none were Spanish. I know there was Russian, I want to say Somali and something else that was really unusual. It was amazing to me to see that the district could even provide translation for all of them.

I can't imagine homeschooling and doing everything around the house without help. Trying to manage all of that and working full time is really hard without some kind of help and you are right to put it in perspective. While someone to work on the yard, or clean the house, or help prepare meals or schlepp kids around would be a godsend to most working mothers we DO have so many things that we take for granted, like dishwashers and washing machines and vacuum cleaners!

And....

I saw that!

hmmph.

That's me. Cut throat. Though to be fair a couple of people at the PTA board meeting last night may have thought so.

I thought I planned far in advance. You already had a rough draft of plans a year ahead of time :worship: I know that they were very tentative plans (they've probably already changed by now - just haven't got there yet) but that's still pretty good. I guess any DISer is bound to have a decent plan of action if they were to just get up and go to Disney tomorrow.

Your park bag looks great with the added green Mickey - oops! I mean Minnie ;) Too bad the zipper broke not two minutes after you got it. I can't imagine what shops must be like there. It's an amazing contrast to our overblown consumerism here in North America.

No, you're not the only one that obsesses over their budget. If anyone says they don't, they're lying. Only reason you won't see number crunching much here on the boards is because we all hate math! :teacher: $50 for souvenirs? Honey, you've got some goooood control!

You have a blog? Can you send me the link?

Love your quilts. I salute to your handiwork. To keep my mind off of upcoming trips (and going insane from the excitement) I've taken up horseback riding (as you may have read in my PTR?) It keeps me out of trouble and as long as I don't fall and break my arm *knock on wood* it keeps me entertained.

Likely, they've all changed. But I think we're fairly firm in what we've got now. As soon as Rations Drop is over and the last couple of installments of my Retro Trip report is done. I'm going to start posting our daily itineraries. Hopefully that will coincide with starting Vol.II of this PTR.

You are so right. If I won a trip to WDW tomorrow, I would pretty much be ready. Given the park hours and stuff, I could put together a decent trip and feel good about it.

thanks!! In fact, as my DH was frantically packing yesterday for his trip to the States, I ran across my bag, and it reminded me I need to get it out and gaze at it once more. I also need to finish up maroo's and LeeAnn's Minnies for them. I really have so much more to do to really be ready. I like having this planned out so far ahead. I can really take my time, and not feel rushed about doing this or that. In fact, I was thinking about our window decorations too yesterday. need to get busy on that!

I. Hate. Math. I can do it, but it wears me out.

Well, I may end up doing more in the souvie dept. now, because I decided to add some park music CDs to the list. Souvies will be a whole series of posts coming up soon! Stay tuned for that.

The link is in my siggie. It's the image with the camel on it. Just click there, and it should take you right to it. :)

I did read that, and responded too. I said that I liked to ride as a kid, but it's a hobby that has outpaced my budget these days. LOL! Quilting is affordable and requires only a little creativity and patience. ;)

Up to this point in this narrative, our merry little party had traveled the longest route possible to Orlando via motor home. By the time we got there, my parents were having serious second thoughts about whether this whole idea of going on a road trip with 4 kids in a 35 footer and visiting Disney World fell into the category of “fun” or “not”. I rather think it fell to the “not”. Once there, we found out very quickly just how clueless we were about the World. Disneyland, as it was in the 70’s and 80’s, was the extent of our knowledge and our only paradigm. Little did we know how vastly different the two resorts really were. I found out in 2004 just how much my beloved Motherland of DLR had changed as well. Sigh….

As I’ve said before, however, it was Disney, and no matter how clueless one is, it’s pretty hard to have a “bad” time; it just could have been better given more research (ok, well any research might have helped). At the end of the last chapter, we had just bailed on AK. We were chilly, and frankly bored. To us it was a zoo without the animals. Remember, I told you that I somehow thought that Florida was the perennially hot spot weather-wise? I was so wrong. It can get pretty cold there once in a while, and the week we were there happened to be one of the whiles. It was becoming obvious that, despite my best intentions to make the best use of the parks’ hours, our crew would need free sustenance (read Grandma's cooking) and warmer clothes in order to continue on. So back to the Fort we trudged, folding the stroller for every bus and tram we encountered. I was glad it was only an umbrella!

I think by the time we finally negotiated the now familiar Fort bus system and found our Loop it was around 3:00. We must have eaten a quick meal or something, and the decision was made that the 2 youngest would stay back with Grandma and Grandpa, while the oldest 2 and I headed over to the Magic Kingdom for a night time foray into havens of entertainment. Our tickets must have been those that would allow us to visit more than one park per day, since that is what we did. I had trained my kids very early on to be night owls like myself, so staying up late was going to be no problem. Honestly, I don’t recall any such thing as EMH, but we were going to stay until closing whatever time that was. My philosophy was, and still kind of is, take every hour that you can, give nothing back. And we did. We had fun. I don’t remember a thing we did, but I’m sure it was great. How could getting there on a cute little launch be anything but? We had warmer clothes on. We didn’t have to lug a stroller around. It was bliss.

But here’s really how I remember that we stayed out late. As we got off the bus at our loop’s entrance back at the ranch, and sleepily, yet satisfied with having had a delightful time, made our way back to our behemoth on wheels, we saw it! Well, actually at first we didn’t see it, we heard it. A soft rustling in the bushes just ahead startled us. Then we saw them. Two beady read eyes just like right out of the Haunted Mansion!! I think I let out a quick yelp, then burst out laughing. We had the extremely good fortune to spot our second armadillo!! The three of us watched him amble over to his next door neighbor’s front yard in great delight before we moved on, and I think even to this day, that that cute little creature in armored skin made a bigger impression on us than did all of Cindy’s Carousel horses.

That was the end of our 2nd day of Disney World touring. We had seen two parks, one having made a pretty dull impression on us. I can say that our opinion of AK has greatly improved since that first stop. Had we known the backstory, that you sort of have to make a game of it to see the animals, and that there were shows worth seeing, well, we might have had a more favorable opinion. We just weren’t prepared to tour a park with that mindset.

Tomorrow would be another day, and EPCOT was in the plans. Would it live up to our expectations of Disney-induced fun?? How would our only sit-down meal be? This and much more coming up.

AK is a love/hate kind of park. For many people, it's their least favorite park.

I can truly understand that as really, there are only a few major attractions in the park. Most of the other attractions and shows require a whole paradigm shift in how you view theme parks. Most people can't make the shift which is too bad.

Armadillos. Are the bigger than possums?

Any way, i truly feel like I'm somewhere else. florida seems to disappear when i walk in.

That's what I was getting at. Now that I know where to look for the visual puns and hidden gems- you know the not-so-obvious, but great stuff that Imagineering comes up with, I can go with a different set of eyes. Honestly, I can say even with the paradigm shift I have to make, I like it better than Future World. Maybe even better than DHS. :confused3 I like it for photo ops for sure! :thumbsup2

opossums?? Don't know. Never seem one. Apparently my recently deceased grandfather would hunt them for dinner in Arkansas though. That was during the depression. I actually have a recipe or two for stewed possum!

I think I've posted this B4 but it is an interesting read on DinoLand. Knowing the backstory makes walking through it a tad more tolerable! :lmao: Just do yourself a favor... don't wait more than 5 minutes for Primeval Whirl! :rotfl: :rotfl2:

Copied from thread... http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1609670

I posted this in another thread but its dead and since the story is interesting I wanted to share. I noticed A LOT of people who bad mouth Dinorama complaining it looks like a cheap theme park... In fact one person went so far as to imply that people who think its cool or fun don't love Disney or understand the old Disney. Having worked there for a couple of years and having spent more time in those parks playing around (pretty much every day before or after work) than most people I feel I have a pretty good understanding and I happen to like Dinorama's theming. A comparison was made to Dumbo which, while a traditional ride, was themed to make the rider believe they are Dumbo. The poster complained that Dinorama was just a cheap group of rides and had no value because it wasn't themed.

Unfortunately for the poster, he couldn't be more wrong. Dinorama is actually brillantly themed to the area and the Back Story of Dinoland. However, since many... including the Poster... don't know this story and since Disney has cut some elements that explain the story OR people don't take the time to actually look around and take in the subtlety of areas of the parks and really explore... the erroneous idea that Disney just threw up some garbage attraction continues to be out there... an idea that is not only dead wrong but insulting to the imagineers who worked their butts off in building that park. I've met Joe Rhodee, the guy who designed the park, and believe me, he doesn't just throw cheap junk up... there is a reason for nearly everything...

TO enlighten those who do not know, HERE is the story behind Dino Land. I was an opening crew Cast Member for Animal Kingdom and we were told this story as we were touring the park led by one of the imagineers. This was during my first college program in 1998. It is one of my favorite Disney back stories and began a fascination with these stories.

Story Begins!!!

So in such and such year (It was given but I can't remember, however if one explores the area they can figure it out I believe) Dinosaur fossils were found in the area. It was a HUGE fossil find and generated a lot of excitement. There is a BIG DIG SITE where fossils are uncovered (This is the purpose of The Boneyard Playground site within the theme... it represents the dig site) The Dino Institute bought up the land in the area and hired a bunch of grad students to work the find (I don't know if they are still there but when the park opened there were Streetmosphere performers who did a show AS THE GRAD STUDENTS who were there to dig the site). The Grad students hung out at a local cafe on their off time (Which brings Restraurantosaurus into the theming of the area)... if you look closely you can see where they have signed their names, left journals and other things and even momentos in the cafe. The Dino Institute in the meantime needed to make some money to keep funding the dig. So they opened up a time travel adventure (Countdown to Extinction which was a MUCH better name... but now known as Dinosaur... and YES it was planned from the beginning to be tied into the movie... we heard that as well which was the first most of us heard they were DOING a Dinosaur movie...). Using time machines, they could transport people back in time to see the dinosaurs living... thus raising money to fund the dig through the ride and of course the Dino Institute Gift Shop.

Ok At this point we have covered story elements of:

The Boneyard
Restaurantosaurus
Dinosaur
Dino Institute Gift Shop
Streetmo actors (although I am not sure if they still perform)

Sue wasn't really tied into the story, but fits the theme since they were cleaning the bones when the park first opened and did a big part of it in DAK. They just never claimed Sue came from the Dig site or anything...

The Theatre in the Wild (or what ever its called) where Nemo is now (and had the Jungle Book which was horrific and Tarzan Rocks which was mediocre) was never really considered a part of Dinoland and thus just shares proximity but not theming.

So this just leaves Dinorama and Chester and Hesters which is where the story resumes...

So when the fossils were found Dino Institute bought up all the land, but there was ONE owner who refused to sell. The names of the owners were... (and you might start to see where this is going) Chester and Hester. Chester and Hester owned a gas station and once the dig site became a tourist attraction, they decided to turn part of their Gas Station into a shop to sell cheap dinosaur items to tourist... basically turning the gas station into a Roadside Attraction (much like South of the Border, Wall Drug, etc).

Now Dino Rama wasn't part of the original story, but it writes itself... Chester and Hester refused to sell and opened a roadside attraction tourist trap to make money from all the tourists. Dino rama IS THAT TOURIST TRAP. THE WHOLE PURPOSE IS THAT ITS SUPPOSED TO LOOK LIKE A CHEAP TOURIST TRAP BECAUSE THATS THE THEME!!!!! The imagineers purposedly did this to fit into the Chester and Hester enviroment.

http://images.google.com/imgres?imgu...&ct=image&cd=2

Look at the DAK Map over at Dinoland. Notice the area sectioning it off from the rest of Dinoland... its because the Dino Institute owns all of Dinoland EXCEPT Chester and Hesters and Dinorama which is owned by Chester and Hester.

Personally, the rides are mediocre and I agree more could have been done, but not too much since they went to the extreme in keeping the theme. The THEMING is brilliant and fits perfectly with what they are trying to do.

So just as an FYI, next time in DAK spend some time and REALLY look around DIno land. Look at Chester and Hesters and find the gas dispensers, toolboxes etc. Look at Restaurantosaurus and find all the grad student stuff. It was really brilliant in the subtlety of the theming.. THe problem is as COOL as this is IF YOU KNOW THE STORY behind it (just like Haunted mansion makes SO much more sense if you know the story of the bride and groom, etc) if you don't know it... well it just looks lame. Disney Imagineers come up with elaborate back stories... they need to share them or make it a bit more obvious. A Chester and Hester Streetmo would go a LONG way as well as the Grad students in getting this story told.

SO that's the long and short. Hope you found it interesting.

Okay, y'all need to point me towards some things to read about AK so that I can appreciate the theming. Reading about the worlds in MK really added to my love of the place. AK is actually pretty boring to me, too. Once I've done the Safari, Kali, and It's Tough to be a Bug, I'm pretty much done. I need some education!

Now, DHS I adore!! I can just wander around Hollywood Blvd. for days. The Art Deco details are amazing.

I need to find some books or something about Imagineering. Any ideas?

I don't even know where to start about the theming. I love the architecture and the way it's been made to look old..there's so much to notice...signs, statues...I love the area around EE..seeing all the prayer flags .

I realy am not a zoo person...I get bored quickly at them. But I love walking the trails in AK....seeing tigers in what looks like anciet ruins, and none of the animals look like they are "caged".

there's just so many little things that makes it magical to me.

I bought the series of Imagineering Field Guides (they are still writing the DHS one), and they are excellent!! There is a lot of talk about the backstory, and the rationales for theming the way they did for each of the parks. I'd highly recommend them! :thumbsup2

I remember this very well!! It is a great write-up, but sadly doesn't make me any more excited about Dinoland. I get it, but don't- if that makes sense.

Sadly, the first time, we didn't get it AT ALL. Then in 2008, we came, went and saw, but didn't really SEE as I intend to in Sept. Knowing what I know now, and having done more research, I think I know where and HOW to look for the special touches that make it such a beautiful park.

As if Somali wasn't unusual enough. :lmao:

Just grinding our meat if we want spaghetti takes a half hour. Dishes take another half hour. ;) (3 times a day)

Then, we're a lot alike :)

I know, Somali! I swear the other one was even more unusual....but I don't think it was blankistani!

I'd become a vegetarian I think.

Or make Jeff grind the meat.

So cute, the boys were checking out the Yurt (picture coming, I promise!) and asking about it and I was telling them about you and the fact that someday they might get to meet you since even though you live in Blankistani now...you are moving back to Oregon and have family in Olympia. They thought that was very cool.

Almost as cool as the feel of the camel fur.

Then again it may have been there was really good beer at the Dawa bar which boded well for a bunch of PNW beer snobs in a very hot park in a state full of really bad beer and our kids were wet, happy and dancing. And getting their inner zen on. I don't think this water area still exists but know it was by Dawa. It is my mission to try and find it!

FOTLK, Kali and the Safari sealed the deal. I was really worried that T&K wouldn't love it last year but they did! I would have loved more time there on the last trip and that was a first.

Not a choice here. You'd starve. They have literally never heard of brocolli or celery. Up until THIS year, in the winter, we could ONLY get onions, carrots, potatoes and cabbage. Fruit?? Apples, bananas and oranges. That's IT!

I'd pass on the cabbage but I can do a lot with the rest. In fact on the fruit that's pretty much all I ever buy. Not that I don't like the rest but it requires refrigeration and that means the following happens.

It takes up valuable space
No one eats it. Why I don't know. They love those fruits but they will not LOOK in the fridge for them. If it's out in a bowl in the kitchen, it disappears. If looking is required, forget it.

And then it goes bad!

VERY frustrating. But overall, a good thing as apples and bananas are far cheaper than berries!

Cree is another Native American Tribe.

Kinda the same here, but I go one step further. If it's cut up on the table, it disappears. Apparently mine are too lazy to even reach into the bowl. I draw the line at peeling it though.

Wanna hear somthing cool!? My in-laws house that we may end up buying has a u-pick across the street. They grow EVERYTHING. Berries, all kinds, corn, tomatoes, pumpkins- all kinds of great stuff.

You get me wrong. It's entirely for selfish reasons I cut. I cut the half rotten stuff, just to get rid of it. Otherwise it falls into a state of further putridness. Other moms might buy fresher stuff, but they get the stuff they should have eaten earlier served- like it or not.

Or just tell them to eat around it!

They beg for pears but won't eat them all . It doesn't matter if it's a costco 12 pack or 3 from the grocery there is always 1-3 left that starts to turn to mush and it just breaks my heart!

Bread's good until it's moldy! If it's stale it goes to bread crumbs or bread pudding or French Toast.

Ditto for the cheese. If the French can eat moldy cheese, then so can we, I suppose.

Yeah, I'm going to need/ want some Spanish. ;)
Wow! Who would have known! It makes sense.
I'm so sorry your not feeling well, I hope you feel better soon. As to my being up very late....I don't actually have a job outside the home, I'm just a seriously bad night owl. Since I've gotten older, having much more than five-six hours of sleep isn't working for me. :confused3 Some times less. But! It catches up with me and then I sleep for like 10 hrs. and then I can't sleep the next night. I'm hoping it passes, and soon.

It is truly a Godsend having Gulnara to help me! When we first arrived, I was literally drowning in dishes and laundry. I did VERY little else, as I had to study language 40 hours a week. :teacher:

Holy cow! That's a lot of studying! I wish I had the gift for languages. God's not done with me yet, so who knows what new creative gift He'll drop me in the near future, He dropped in me the ability to do homeschooling with my daughter. Neeeeever thought that would happen. :sad2:

 Thank you for that! I love learning about other cultures and I loved learning from this last sentence how I need to be more greatful for what I have. I haven't felt ungreatful mind you, but it's easy to take for granted the things you never have to think about such as side walks, dryers, vaccum cleaners. I can't even imagine not having those things or people in my life.
I bet when you return, you'll be so entirely greatful for even the smallest thing. I'm greatful you have your house helper there to help you and your family.

I guess the stories, visuals, and hidden gems are lost on me. I've only been once, and not very long at that. What am I missing?!?

My kids are safe from creepos, ALL the food is organic, life is simple, and best of all, we can walk into any pharmacy and get antibiotics when we need them- for about $2. Liesa, are you feeling any better today? I hate it that your sick on top of everything else. It seems to happen for a lot of people when the let down of the anticipated event has finally happened.

For example the municipalities of Anandapur and Harambe have a whole story and "residents" that they've created around the areas (Asia and Africa respectively) Harambe residents realized that for the good of their land and welfare, they need to protect the animals, rather than allow gaming and poaching to continue, so they created, from grassroots efforts, a game preserve meant for education. That's just one example.

The ancient palace ruins of the Maharaja Trail represent the palaces of actually 4 dynasties and the sultans of each era. Each one was focused on different thing such as hedonistic sensual pleasures, subduing (hunting) animals, another living in harmony with them, and the 4th in seclusion. The Imagineering Field Guides were really helpful understanding all that. Now I can go and see the murals there, and know what they mean. It's like the lights went on.

I would love that!!!

Before I post the answer to Rations Drop Clue #11, I wanted to refresh your memories with the clues themselves, with some commentary thrown in for kicks and giggles. Here they are:

1) This place is NOT in one of the parks.

Nope. This one's at Animal Kingdom Lodge.

2) This restaurant is NOT a quiet, understated kind of place.

The atmosphere, colors, music, EVERYTHING is upbeat and festive!

3) Eating here is NOT for those without adventurous palettes.

It is described as a place where, "guests have the ability to savor the African experience, which has multicultural influences." Although, I understand there is like 60 succulent choices on the buffet. I'd imagine there wouldn't be anyone left hungry.

4) Do NOT approach the desserts if you do NOT want to be tempted.

Two words.

Zebra Domes.

5) You will NOT see characters at this place.

At least not with costumes on.

6) Soldier #1 has NOT eaten here.

Not yet.

7) Soldier #2 has NOT NOT eaten here.

I think maroo has done breakfast here. I'm not a breakfast person, AT ALL, so I'd lose a fair amount of money drinking coffee- which I hear is pretty good by the way.

8) There is NOT a letter N in the name of the place.

B.O.M.A.

9) One can NOT leave here without being utterly satisfied and stuffed.

60 items- lots to go around.

10) A little bunny with a goofy name does NOT hop around this place, although his namesake dish can be eaten here.

FuFu - sweet and white potatoes mashed with coriander and cinnamon

Now, by process of elimination, and some really good guessing, and just in case you missed it from above, the answer narrows down to~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

BOMA

I think most of you have actually been here already, but for those of you who haven't, here's an amazing review of the restaurant:

This PTR is moving too fast for me, I try and play catchup and read all the beginning posts but as I do that this PTR keeps growing and I keep falling further behind, so I am just going to jump on board in the here and now.

First off Leisa, I am so sorry to hear about your MIL, so sad but yet a blessing as she went peacefully.

I am enjoying your back story of Disney world, my first trip I didn't see the hype in AK, but I studied up for my next trip and found AK to be a little more enjoyable, I still only plan 1 day there and 2 for all the other parks but I don't have the attitude of "Let's just get his park over with" anymore.

I can't remember who posted the back story to Dinorama, but I loved it, I had always wondered why Dinosours? Why a carnival then, and what's up with this gas station? It all makes sense to me now, and I don't get that alot I spend alot of my life in a fog, stupor or clueless state, for once I feel knowledged! and knowledge is power!!!!!

That's very, very OK. Many have done that, and it's fine by me. If you want to though, there's always the Table of Contents on the first page. Most of the real updates aren't that long. This game has only one more round in it, then I will move on to the REALLY fun stuff. Itineraries, souveniers, etc...

I'm sitting here with my 2nd cup of coffee on this snowy morning wondering what I should write for my tribute to my DMIL that will be read Monday morning. Not an easy task. She taught me practically everything I know about sewing and baking and canning. Guess, I'm just not sure what slant to take- you know, my favorite memory or what she meant to me, or a little of both. Agh! I have another while to think on it.

I'm also having a really hard time coming up with the format for the last couple of Rations Drop Clues. It seems of exhausted all of my "creative" on the previous clues- either that or I've blown it all out my nose with the snot that won't stop. My head is a stuffy mess, and I"m sneezing more than Snow White's little allergic pal.

Send me some ideas!! I"ve done a word scramble, clues hidden in a story, pictures, you name it. What's left??

You're welcome!! For all the things I complain about in living here, there's a lot of good too!!! My kids are safe from creepos, ALL the food is organic, life is simple, and best of all, we can walk into any pharmacy and get antibiotics when we need them- for about $2. I'm bringing a bunch back with me. Who wants to pay $20 just to have a doctor tell you you're sick and need an antibiotic?? Brother...:sad2:

Sounds good considering some of the hassels you've had to live with. I like the idea of having medicine at your disposal.

I think I need to order these. I was looking at them on Amazon wondering what they were all about after you mentioning them on here. I'll see what other things I can get into trouble with book wise....I've always wanted to get a hidden Mickey book. I'm a little confused by there being more than one hidden Mickey book, does it mean that each book shows the same one's from the last book plus newer finds, or just a continuation of the last book? :confused3

Hi MeMom!!! Doesn't that sound fun!!?? I'm pretty sure they are organic too. They always gave a discount to my MIL, and hope they will for us too. And after they close she was always free to glean the leftovers.
OK, now I want to move there! This place sounds like heaven to me. Did you say they were fruits and veggies or just fruit? Either would be great for me!

I'm going to tell you guys the same thing I just told Mom. Since Dad's not here I am acting as The Grinch Who Stole Nightime Posting. If you have any comments you can find me on Facebook. ;)

Fresh off the motorhome floor, after another cramped experience of sleeping in places people shouldn’t have to, we were ready for a brand new experience called “EPCOT”!! To say we were excited was a gross understatement. I mean who is alive in the US that hasn’t at least seen a picture of the Great Big White Ball?? Little did I know that today would be the day I would develop and undying, head-over-heels love affair with a certain place on earth!!

This time, I’m pretty sure we all piled into Mom and Dad’s car instead of taking the busses. I know this because this was the one and only day they decided to come to the park with us and actually stick it out for more than a couple hours. After parking, in a place we’d inevitably forget when time to take our leave, we made our way into this altogether new and exciting vast utopia of fun stuff to explore. Soarin’ wasn’t there yet, but one of my all-time favorites was: The Land. It will forever hold a special place in my ever-Disney attraction loving heart, much as Columbia Harbor House does for CS restaurants. It was an instant infatuation!! Not only were the gardens and sustainable animal exhibits completely amazing, but back then, there was a real live narrator who would actually answer questions and interact with the guests. I adored the hidden Mickey pumpkins hanging from the trellises, was fascinated by the hydroponics display, and who knew that ginger and vanilla grew like that??! I am sad that they’ve replaced the tour guides with a recorded message. I still love it, but it will never be the same.

After our expedition through the Garden of Eden, we set out to really nowhere in particular. Whereas AK didn’t appeal to us to just wander around seeing what we would, EPCOT, for some inexplicable reason was a fun park to just wander around in taking in all the unexpected charms. We ran into the Jammitors and were duly wowed by the loud. I don’t particularly LOVE that group, but it seems we can never really quite avoid them either. So by default they’ve become an enduring tradition for every visit.

Making tracks once more, we totally by accident came across another place destined to one of our most long-lasting memory makers: Ice Station Cool. That’s what it was called back then, and in my humble opinion it was by far a better attraction in yesteryear. As you entered you went through a super cool snow and ice tunnel. I’ll never forget for as long as I live how a huge chunk of snow fell kerplop right onto DS’s (21 months at the time) lap!! It was one of those moments you wished you had a camera ready to capture the look of surprise on his face. It was one of utter shock. But we all laughed ourselves into a frenzy, and he was a good sport. I think he loved it mostly because I let him eat his snow. I’m sure we tried all the different flavors there were, but honestly, if there was Beverly, I don’t remember nor do I really care. We had a blast in there. Exiting over the floor that was sticky enough to pass for airport security tape put down to catch Hoof and Mouth, we trudged on.

Nothing else stands out in my memory except we were chilly and getting hungry. We needed an indoor attraction so we went on Spaceship Earth. All I remember from that was during the ride going backwards at the end, going through all the twinkly lights, thinking to myself how “old school” Disney that was. Who remembers “Adventure Through Inner Space” at Disneyland. For some reason all my memories of my favorite DLR attraction came flooding back as we descended back down to reality.

Not much else was accomplished in Future World. I’d say most first trips are meant for giving one an overall idea of the flavor of the place- and that it most certainly did. We had a lot of fun and made some terrific memories. I knew without a doubt that this was a place I would certainly want and need to come back to over and over again.

Next up: Back in the days when ADRs weren’t necessary, and a ride on the high Northern Seas.

I'll be in and out all day- between spelling tests and math lessons. :teacher:

Bek is feeling a ton better. I think the cough will linger for some days, maybe even weeks?? I'm feeling a lot better. I was a good girl and went to bed at 12:00 last night, and got a good 9 hours of beauty rest. :rotfl2:

We skyped with DH last night, and it was good to see the whole family rallied around Dad. He really appreciates all the support I know. The jet lag has been good he says, so maybe physical weariness won't stand in the way of being able to help the family.

I need to give this RD clue a little while longer as I know a few "regulars" are not online this weekend. I'm soooo anxious to be done, so I can start posting other stuff. Once everyone knows all the places we'll be eating I can be specific with our plans. :woohoo::banana:

But I also want to start with a "fresh slate" for the upcoming stuff, so I may start a new thread as the mods will close this one down once it hits 250 pages.

Ready for a little participation?? Want to feel powerful and involved??

Then I have a job for you!! I am stumped! Really I am. I've sat here for a long time today, racking my brain trying to come up with a clever, meaningful title to the next part of this pre-trippie!! Never in my wildest dreams did I think that it would come to this, but here we are- just 20 short pages to go before we'll have to start afresh. We'll finish this one out to the full 250 pages, but I want to prepare now for the next round of fun.

Here are some ideas that I came up with, but I know how clever and creative all of you are.

The TC3 Quest for Freedom Continues

The Battle for the Perfect Trip Continues

A 3 Woman Army Fights for the Perfect Trip

Stranger Things Have Happened

None of them just really pop out at me. I like them, but they just don't have that certain flair or panache I was hoping for. Bring on your think for me, and help me come up with something that embodies our trip.

So...........????

Thinking out loud again...

So...personally, I want to keep the Stranger theme somewhere in the title...because it sets this trip apart from some of the others. They were strangers? :confused3 I don't know of many other pre-trippies with strangers? :rotfl2:

And we definitely need to keep the army/battle/quest theme...of course!

We want something short enough that Liesa can type a long "subtitle" each time, too...not even sure if the other one I suggested may be too long?

And I want something that will draw some people in - some new folks that can come join in our fun antics. I am sure we get a lot of people wanting to check out the pre-trippie that has over 200 pages (and LOTS of views!)...but then they probably get lost fairly quick or feel like they have missed so much...but we really want new folks to join us and post. So...I am not sure what title would be best to welcome people to the group. :flower3:

I think we might should shy away from TC3 or any other really obscure reference at this point...just in the title...because we want to have people join us and don't want to confuse them before they even click to see what we are doing. They may click because they don't know what that means? Which could be a good thing, though? :scratchin

I guess I just want our title to seem crazy, mysterious and welcoming at the same time. :hippie:

Am I overthinking this???

Obviously...since I still don't have another title suggestion. :rolleyes1

It's been slow in general. I know 3 or 4 DISers who have gotten viruses recently.....

I did it before it hit 3500 which is technically the limit.

We'll be making a trip this April (2008) for 6 days in FW. I am wondering what the best way to "ID" my kids is. I've heard that they should always have their resort "address", along with our cell phone number on them. What have you used? Necklaces? Bracelets? indelible marker somewhere?? What other info. am I missing? Lost kids would be my worst nightmare come true!!

I'm stuck in the "pick a title for the PTR' too. My husband wants me to get my ptr started....Back in the day he was so anti disney, after our first trip together (and last) I swore I would never let him step foot in Disney with me again, now he's all about our trip. But anyway I told him I can't start the PTR until I have a title, not just any title but the bombdiggity of titles. I serioulsy think that I've had one too many brain farts and the last one wiped out any creativity left in me.

Ya'll are coming up with some good ones, I really like "Stranger things have happened" It kind of sums up your trip planning in a nutshell.

"Bombdiggity"!! That is a really awesomely, scrumptalicious word!! You may see it borrowed regularly. :worship::rotfl2:

DH is has his own expectations for this trip, he's thinking drinking around the world and romantic walks I'm sure. I'm such a light weight when it comes to drinking though that I would merely have to sip around the world.

He did ask that his trip be a little more calm then our first one. But in my defense, I had never been to Disney, I had no internet to tell me just how massive a place like that is and I thought it would be my only time going so I wanted to see and do it all.

I'm actually looking forward to a slower pace this time.

After several weeks of playing Rations Drop, aka Where Will the TC3 Nosh At?, we've come to the conclusion of our contest. It's been great having everyone chime in with your comments, opinions, links to great reviews and photos! Thanks for weighing in and making it a ton of fun!

In the end, we ended up with a 3-way tie for the championship! Tim, Amanda, and Cynthia proved to be very tenacious, capable contestants- Congratulations!! Not only do you get a promotion in rank, but if you send me your addresses via PM, and I'll send out your prizes soon. Think "Giddy-Up"! ;) You can join the Cavalry. :yay:

The answer to the last clue was found IN THE TEXT, but was cleverly disguised. Now does it pop out at you?

Just in case you need a clue,

I 'm jotting down a rhyme.

Keep your guesses coming through,

Or up will be the time.

Just had to know where to look for this one. ;)

I thought it'd be a good idea to list all of our mess hall stops in one place, just to make sure everyone's on the same memo. Let's take a look:

Biergarten
Teppan Edo
California Grill
Kona AND Kona Sushi Bar
Beaches n Cream
Sanaa
Jiko
Starring Rolls
Wolfgang Puck Express
Boma (notice the AK Trifecta)
Columbia Harbor House
Riverside Food Mill at POR
Caseys
Flame Tree
'Ohana
Afternoon Tea at the Grand Flo.
Either Cantina de San Angel OR Tangierine Cafe
Pecos Bills

Since we started the game, we've had to toss out Crystal Palace, and I may end up adding The Plaza, Ragland Road and Yak and Yeti, if my Solo Part ends up happening. Depends on my marching orders!!! That's, as of yet, is still classified information.

I think this is a really fantastic lineup with a variety of places sure to please every palette in our little army. A few are old familiar standbys, and some are new and exciting! Know for certain, the TC3 will be very careful at our documentation efforts. Expect a mouth watering, tastylicious TR later this year!

Now that we've gotten them all on one page, tell everyone, from this list, which one would be, is, or has been your favorite and why. Was it the food, service, theming, best memory?? If you could pick one place which one would it be? Are there certain things we should know before going??

Okay, I'm really behind due to my computer issues, so I'm going back to comment on some old stuff (well, four days ago- thats old news around here!):

I don’t remember a thing we did, but I’m sure it was great. How could getting there on a cute little launch be anything but? We had warmer clothes on. We didn’t have to lug a stroller around. It was bliss.

Oh, not lugging a stroller IS bliss. Last May, we decided not to rent a double stroller as we'd been doing - due to the absolutely astronomical price increase. Ahhh, the freedom! I was so impressed by the girls that they were able to hack all the walking, but with all the rain we had all week the weather was pretty cool. I think that made the difference.

opossums?? Don't know. Never seem one. Apparently my recently deceased grandfather would hunt them for dinner in Arkansas though. That was during the depression. I actually have a recipe or two for stewed possum!
:lmao: but chewy.

I have! I have! A couple months ago I spotted this bizarre animal making circles in a parking lot. I drove up really close to it to see what it was, and it didn't even notice me. It was pretty darn big - I'd say a bit bigger than the armadillos I've seen. Anyway, I was so excited by my "wildlife" sighting, that I went home and described it to Scott, who told me it was probably a possum (or opossum, I guess). I got on wikipedia and looked it up, and lo and behold, thats what it was. Not very exotic, I guess, but I'd never seen one before and I was excited:blush: Of course, now that I know what they look like, I see them all the time - dead, that is.

K, on to read more...

As long as we're aging ourselves, let's also just mention The Cure, Fleetwood Mac (some of their 80's stuff was pretty good), and Elton John. :rolleyes1

Now, I've continued and feel rather oldish. :hippie:

If I start aging myself :lmao: Okay I was the Beatles ERA!!!!!:lmao:Paul McCartney all the way!!!!

Alright, I'm caught up.

Looks like I missed another clue. Oh well - not like I was in the lead, or even close to it!

Hmmm, a new name. Did you consider, "like they're going with strangers, pt 2?" I know, that's not very creative. Trying to figure out my 'puter issues has turned my brain to mush.

Alright, back to work....

So, you think Judy would let you take that job?? You do remember she works with knives, right??? :rotfl2:

I think you know the answer to that one.

I hate being too busy to DIS for a few days!

Great clue on the last RD which I figured out but was too late for.

HMMM. . .a new title - How about - Strange but no longer Strangers - DISfriends conquer the World

As for the list of restaurants, I have only eaten at a few of them (Boma, Flame Tree, Pecos Bills and Wolfgang Puck Express) so I don't think we really have a favorite. We were not big fans of Boma - loved the soups and desserts but the rest was not really our style. There are several on your list that we want to try so I can't wait to hear everyone's thoughts.

Honestly, there's not a whole lot new. Mostly just a lot of chatter and fun. I think there's only a couple of real updates. My water situation is all resolved, well at least for today. Last night I heard a drip, went to check and in my enthusiasm for finding the leak, ended up snapping a whole hose all the way off. Water sprayed everywhere, and before I had the wherewithall to aim the spewing gusher at the tub it has soaked my walls- ugh, not again...

Anyway, our system does not have shut off valves for every sink, toilet and tub, so the whole house had to be shut off. Luckily, this morning one of Mike's co-workers was kind enough to come over and get it fixed!! :yay::yay::yay:

Loved the baby and little kid stages, love that they are out of that even more!! Just as fun, but in a different way.

I have! I have! A couple months ago I spotted this bizarre animal making circles in a parking lot.

That was me trying to find a parking place.

If I start aging myself :lmao: Okay I was the Beatles ERA!!!!!:lmao:Paul McCartney all the way!!!!

I think you don't date yourself with declaring the Beatles to be your era. When my son's girlfriend came out a few weeks ago, she was singing ALL their songs. They are still popular! :thumbsup2 Have you ever stopped to watch the "Beatles" group in the UK Pavillion?? Are they worth it??

Alright, I'm caught up.

Computer problems can make a grown man cry- I've personally seen it. No lie.

I think you know the answer to that one.

I do.

Now that's one that I really, really like. Especially the first part. I need room to update teh title (almost everyday-I'm a posting maniac) so I don't know if the whole thing will work. Let me play with it some.

I think the one I'm most looking forward to is Cali, but the AK Trifecta is certainly calling my name out loud as well. So many places, so few meals.

that's nice

I haven't eaten at many of your choices and I'm really looking forward to reading your TR. I'll comment on the ones I've eaten at.

Biergarten
Teppan Edo
California Grill
Kona AND Kona Sushi Bar Only eaten here for breakfast and love it. I am interested in trying dinner here. It does look good.. plus you can get sushi too! ;)
Beaches n Cream
Sanaa
Jiko Had the Taste of Africa as an appetizer and liked it. Even DD2 (at the time) liked it. Had the filet with the mac & cheese. Awesome!
Starring Rolls
Wolfgang Puck Express
Boma (notice the AK Trifecta)
Columbia Harbor House
Riverside Food Mill at POR
Caseys
Flame Tree Love the pulled pork sandwich. It goes great with an ice old beer. :)
'Ohana Only have done dinner here and loved it. You better go with an empty stomach.. there is so much food. The salad is soo good!
Afternoon Tea at the Grand Flo.
Either Cantina de San Angel OR Tangierine Cafe
Pecos Bills I didn't have a great experience here last time. Ordered the chicken wrap and it tasted like cardboard. Not very good IMO.

Since we started the game, we've had to toss out Crystal Palace, and I may end up adding The Plaza, Ragland Road and Yak and Yeti, if my Solo Part ends up happening. Depends on my marching orders!!! That's, as of yet, is still classified information.

Now that we've gotten them all on one page, tell everyone, from this list, which one would be, is, or has been your favorite and why. Was it the food, service, theming, best memory?? If you could pick one place which one would it be? Are there certain things we should know before going??

By looking at your list, which looks great BTW, I am really depressed by the realization that I haven't eaten at a lot of great restaurants.

The three that are on the burner are interesting too. I never ate at the Plaza but the menu looks very good. I need to get back to Raglan Rd. and try some more of the food. We all enjoyed it. I was pleasantly surprised with Y&Y. We had a great lunch here.

I love your idea but did think that length might be an issue

I got you babe......
:rotfl:
How about "A Stranger is just a Friend you haven't DIS'd with yet".
:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2
How about lifting the title from that old Schoolhouse Rock song...

Three. It's a Magic Number...

Kathy
Now I have the Jack Johnson version in my head!
Hey, look who joined the party!! I was starting to think I farted a little too loudly and scared everyone off! I think some of the regulars have viruses on their life rafts, I mean computers, so are out for a spell. Cynthia and Rebecca come to mind. Amanda is stuck in Club Med, and I don't know what happened to Millie and KatMark??!

Anyway, post my first post. I need a good laugh this morning!! I'm sure it was some stupid question or something. :rotfl2:

nah...I had a power outage and while I didn't have virus issues I was doing some major computer maintenance so was out of pocket!

No virus, knock on wood!

"Bombdiggity"!! That is a really awesomely, scrumptalicious word!! You may see it borrowed regularly. :worship::rotfl2:

I might have to use that myself!

I thought it'd be a good idea to list all of our mess hall stops in one place, just to make sure everyone's on the same memo. Let's take a look:

Biergarten
Teppan Edo
California Grill
Kona AND Kona Sushi Bar
Beaches n Cream
Sanaa
Jiko
Starring Rolls
Wolfgang Puck Express
Boma (notice the AK Trifecta)

Favorite FOOD would be Kona
Favorite group EXPERIENCE would be Teppan.

And I would have to give a big thumbs down to Cantina de San Angel and a huge :thumbsup2 to Tangierine Cafe
Alright, I've got it.

But it's totally me, because I'm totally pirate obsessed.

"On Stranger Tides: Navigating the Trip Planning Waters"

I like some of the other ones I read, but there you go. My one moment of clarity for today. ;)

So very TK! Love it!

I need to go back to your review of Ragland. I'm actually kinda stuck between Ragland and Portobello for DTD. I think I went with Ragland because it was less expensive. But both menus look great. Tinkgurl swears by Y&Y, as do many others, so I"m considering doign this one during my solo part. I'll stick with Flame Tree I think for our group part. I think LeeAnn might like it better.
