K.. I can honestly say I've never seen this with my own eyes before.. and I've never been to POR before... I think there might be a connection here. I'm going to guess: Riverside Mill Food Court?
This is a much more educated guess than my last guess of Sunshine Seasons. Hey! If I don't make a guess my chance of getting a point is 0% :lmao::lmao:

Riverside Mill Food court- now we can play, hehe I had done extensive research on the POFQ and POR resorts way back when we were deciding on resort for this trip, and I have the special website for those resorts, so I feel I got one right, lets see

Dude. I helped someone else?
You're welcome!!! :lmao:
you rock
That makes total sense! Zach's most major issue is stuttering, but on top of that he cannot make a complete sentence, often speaks completely off-topic, and can't say 'r's. REally it's almost like an apraxia or even autism spectrum sort of thing.
Anara would likely be in 3rd (as per her age, she'll be 8), Zach- who knows?? He reads at about a 3rd grade level, but should be in 5th.
Mikki will be in 10th, and I'm almost 100% sure I'll keep homeschooling her. Bekka will be a senior, and we're leaning toward leaving her here to finish up as per her own request.
Yeah, I can see how that would take time. BUT 5 MONTHS? :scared1: Then now, I can really see that getting back is no hurry, really. If one or even 2 months is n't going to speed it up, then why put them through the stress of move AND school?
Sounds like what I"ve heard about. A system where they study at CC, and get credits for both finishing HS AND for college. We've had many friends do it that way, and they have actually graduated HS with an AA degree. Like you say, you just have to make sure they are getting the right amount of credits, and than can be hard with allt he little electives, like computer lit, gov't., etc...
I need to call LeeAnn and ask. I think maroo is more flexible.
I think your gut feeling is what's most likely going to happen.
Have you had Zach tested to see if he fits in the spectrum? There are online things you can do to get a feel for where he might be, that and testing with your pediatrician can maybe speed the process up.
R's are a common issue, Eric's best friend is very difficult to understand and the r's are a major part of it. Anara is young enough to probably go straight in and do great, it sounds like you've got a great grip on the rest of the crew and what they need. Good for Bekka for being vocal about what she wants!
Yep, they can earn an AA and HS degree at the same time with the CC program. We assumed that was the point for T. It is now coming out that, the AA wasn't really a particular goal of his....just not being in HS. Which explains why his math still isn't testing in to get him out of the HS class. :sad2:
Funny, it was someone else who steered you this way! Actually, one of the clues coming up will be her fault too. She just simply picks good places!
OK, then I"m doing capris. I ordered size 6's (2 pair) and my mom sent them all the way over. I sent them back to her so she could exchange them for 4's. All those companies who tweaked their sizings sure know how to make a girl feel good, even if only 10 years ago a 4 woudl have been something a 6 year old would have worn. :rotfl:
Hmmn, I'm going to have to go back and look at TK's PTR for clues? LOL! This one I need to noodle over.
I could have told you from here you aren't a size 6! :rotfl: And I don't think the sizes have been tweaked as much as you think. You are just tiny!
That's it, my friend... Roll that and smoke it.:rotfl2:

As attractive as the thought of me streaking may be..I would be leaving a little leak trail behind me the entire way, so that would be a no.. :lmao:
Extensive research (Amanda's definition) Go to Google and search WDW Restaurants along with some part of the aforementioned clue. Go to TK's TRs (both) and look for some mention of a restaurant that would fit the clue (No dice). (Awesome TRs by the way, TK, I need to go back and comment on them now since I read them both!! Thank goodness they weren't 500 pages!) And last but not least go to the WDW website and use the search dining feature for POR and POFQ to see which ones would fit!

Who knows how long it will take to implement the recommendations after that?

my uneducated guess is Riverside Mill Food Court
But I would like to file a score dispute. Unless I missed a redo or startover during my hiatus I seem to recall racking up a few points prior to said hiatus on previous rations drop. So unless there was a rule or game change that I missed, I officially am filing a score dispute regarding my one point. :lmao:
AK - we can easily do AK in less than a day if needed and it does not have the same Disney feel as the other parks for us BUT there are some fabulous things there . . . FOTLK and EE for us from the headliners but we do also enjoy Finding Nemo and the Safari. Some other gems depending on who is going are: the character breakfast at Tusker House is a ton of fun, spotting and watching DeVine, meeting characters like Pocahontas and Jiminy Cricket at Rafikis with short lines, the parade, etc.

Here's the scoop. I went ahead and awarded prizes for part one. It was easier for me to start over, so Cynthia and Shannon won with what was it, 5 points each or something. This RD is part II and will have 13 clues. I think you still have lots of time to get a really cool prize for this part, so keep guessing!
You are right, there's a lot to see there, but I won't feel badly if it's a one or less day park for us. My secret fantasy is finding DeVine. That may take a while :)
Once again I have no clue. This is harder than I thought.
Look at the hint I gave Rosie.... ;)

Reason to be thankful #435
So last night I got a hankering. A hankering for some authentic Vietnamese Spring Rolls, which would turn out to be very un-authentic as you hear the story unfold.
Last summer, I brought some rice spring roll wrappers back with me, with great hopes for a yummy treat sometime in the future. The future happened last night. Here's how it all went down:
Real ones call for fresh mint, basil, lettuce, shrimp, and vermicelli. Lettuce? Check. Shrimp? Check. Mint, basil, no way, not in winter here. Green onions, cilantro, and rice noodles substitute in quite nicely. So in it all went. I rolled up 6 nommy little bundles and arranged them artfully on the plates beside some rice and a little dish of lime/fish sauce for dipping.
Enter- the kids. Now, normally my kids will eat ANYTHING. Seriously, give them tripe or fermented soy bean paste, and there's no problem. NOT this time!! It smells gross, tastes gross and feels gross, they all say. DS, 19 and I have no problem sucking ours down, they were pretty good to me. That sweet chili sauce with lime in it complemented it quite nicely! :thumbsup2 In fact, it was so tasty I ate my daughter's too; that was after I gave up the good fight and let them eat white rice for dinner.
Enter- DH. He is a very easy-to-please kind of guy too. But NOT this time!! Ummmm..... honey, these shrimp aren't cooked! Say what?!! No! These aren't cooked. Well, I thought they were just mushy and fishy cuz they came from 12,000 miles away. No darling; please cook them and make me a new one.
Shrimp duly cooked and tasting much better, I might add, he happily eats 3 of them. I begin to pray. In fact, I prayed pretty hard, but natural consequences are at times (in fact, most of the time) unavoidable. If any of you are Mr. Bean fans, he does a pretty funny sketch of him eating raw oysters that had gone bad. It was kinda like that.
I had cramps all night long. But here's the thankful part(s). I never threw up. Now ain't that the bomb?!! I am sitting here, still having some cramps, but by His good grace, I am not bowing to any porcelain expresses nor "riding the vomit comet" as Amanda so daintily says.
DS, 19, is on an airplane at this very moment for a 2 1/2 hour flight back home. I hope the "natural consequences" of eating raw shrimp that has had a dubious, perhaps unfrozen history, doesn't cause him great affliction at 26,000 ft.
My house is quiet again, and in its groove of routine. I love it!!! Here's wishing you all pleasant dreams tonight!!

She came home, took a big ole' spoonful..stuck it in her mouth, and it was like watching an old cartoon where the character looks puzzled a moment, starts turning green..and then starts spitting food out. you guys are so funny...
A couple of things...
For the record here on the DIS - since we have already talked -
I want you to do for your family first...whatever they need comes first - our trip is secondary, probably dead last to whatever you decide to do with your family, moving, education, etc... and I just wanted to make that clear to everyone. :)
We have lost no money - we are way out and I can get every cent back. :thumbsup2
Also...you have a new fan. A new admiration in my book.
We have no water. This modern (well...maybe), American city - has a BUNCH of people with no water. Over 70 pipes (big main pipes) have burst all over the city - so those with water have to boil it to use it for anything useful - and the rest of us that don't have water...well, they have no idea when we will get it back.
Schools are closed.
Even some hospitals and clinics don't have water.
I am having flashbacks from Katrina.
And I stink. :snooty:
So...there ya have it.
But. I did update my December trip report.

He DID!! I just got a phone call, and his local friend was there to pick him up. It's always a little dicey on the pick up end, as he doesn't know really how to get home by bus by himself. So, I'm always relieved to know he's safe at home. He mismanaged his time over break and still has 1/2 of Pride and Prejudice to read and do some essays on. :scared1:
A 2nd trimester trip will be so great for TK! It's the best trimester as far as energy goes, and her appetite will be back just in time to enjoy all that food. :woohoo:

Out catching worms, Early Bird??
Usually it's the other way around. My son cringes when a BO-infested, "large" guy sits next to him. If the vodka fumes don't kill you, the lack of hygiene might. Deodorant is not high up on the "first-thing-in-the-morning-priority-list" around here. Summer can be brutal!

Was it the ice storm that happened just before you left?? What's up??!!
And for the record, I still think this trip won't move more than a couple weeks in either direction. At some point DH will have to let me go "visit my family". ;)
Well...the "ice storm" never happened. It rained...hard...here. And we are very thankful we did not have an ice storm!
The pipes are broken because it has gotten down in the single digits and teens for days on end...Our average temperature so far this year has been 29 degrees!! And that is not our average LOW - our average temperature for the whole day. :sad2:
So pipes all over are frozen. They are bursting in the city and they are digging up the city streets to fix them. The water pressure is low and in some places there is no water.
Today lots of schools are closed (including one whole district), the restaurants are mostly closed, we have no water in my office OR my house, all goverment offices are closed. Pretty strange. They say this is the worst water crisis in 20 years...and that includes Katrina.
so....wondering if we might have our trip to coincide with the Wine and Dine half marathon? It would be cool to go to that party...:rolleyes1 Just sayin'. :)

I had the surgery about 11 years ago. It started bothering me early in my 3rd pregnancy...The dr suggested I should have it done during my 2nd trimester, but I toughed it out and prayed like crazy I wouldn't have to have it done until after I had the baby.

Hey there Liesa! Sorry I've been MIA, I get a chance to read but not always answer. I'm first to tell you (well besides Winkers) that going any where for a while after the surgery isn't probably the best idea. I too thought I could take advantage of my surgery. My idea was to take advantage of having my son at my girlfriends for a few days so hubby and I could have some alone time doing the couple thing. I told my DH I wanted to go to breakfast the next day, he reluctantly took me out, and as we sat there waiting for our food.....it hit me. I felt like a MACK truck hit me, backed up and started all over again! I thought it wouldn't be that big of a deal, but after the surgery it took me 7 weeks to feel like the ol' me. You tire out really fast, who knew healing took so much energy?!? :confused3

Ooooh Liesa, I'm there with you on that one. My dh wanted us to start renting out property that we owned, I just couldn't think about it after just having a baby at the time. But that was one of the thoughts that went through my mind. I feel for you. But! Look at it this way, you can fix it how you want and then it will all be up graded and pretty again. Will you sell it after remodeling? I think you said something about it being in a bad neighborhood, right? By the way, who did you have managing it? My DH did finally start buying, fixing up and renting property with a friend, but they have a managment team to over see things, now I'm wonder if they actually make note of damage or things of that nature?? I take it your managment company didn't take care of things for you? Hang in there, maybe it won't be as bad as you think.

7 Weeks??!! That would mean I might even have a hard time getting back here!! :scared1: That really puts a new spin on getting your guts carved up and thinking you'll be fine afterwards. Hmmm.... maybe no EPCOT, afterall...
Whatever we do, we won't be going back to that house. I've at least convinced DH that that isn't an option. It's too small and in the 'hood. Nevertheless, if we want out of it what it's really worth, we will need to put a lot of work into it. Blech! We have a prop. manager, but we don't think he's really watching it very carefully. At least we've only had one turn over in the last 10 years, so that's a good thing.
Don't worry about getting behind! I get behind on most of my threads too, esp, the ones on the TR thread! Seems I just have so much fun over here, I forget sometimes to get over there. Love it when you ARE here, though!

Riverside Mill Food Court!!!!!
I think we can safely say that at least once during our trip here, the 3 of us will saunter down in our elegant ball gowns searching for romance and adventure in the form of eggs and pancakes. I mean let's face it, a pretty Southern Belle certainly can't charm the parks without a real plateful of hearty victuals!! Since we'll be brewing our own coffee, we'll be skipping the Nescrappe, but you know we'll be going in deep with the OJ, Mickey Waffles and, what Southern Belle with half a brain (which, you do remember, is more than we have left (except you, maroo)) would go without trying the biscuits and gravy at least once?? WHAT??!! You say there are no biscuits and gravy??!! :scared1: Well, you've barely redeemed yourself Riverside Food Mill by serving grits.
For those of you who really care, here is the full menu:

College...
When I went to school...all of our forms and such for loans were completed before we moved in. We had a couple of days before school for Freshman Orientation where the parents would come and go to class and the students would go to a separate class.
Then you have move in day...and once that is over...generally the parents are supposed to leave.
And I would think for a boy, it would be even more so...??
And since you will be in the States and not going back - I assume - then you would be close by at any rate.

I was back at work in 3 days. But I am crazy like that. And I had a lap and was home the same day.
I could always get an EVC or is it ECV?? I can never keep it straight. or a wheelchair and have your MIL come and push me. We'd see a lot, cuz no one'd be in our way!! :lmao::lmao:
Now THAT would be funny!
But...you would be shocked how hard it is to tour with one of those. But your feet won't hurt. :thumbsup2

Well, that's not what I wanted to hear. I wanted to hear, "Yes, your son will need you to be there in Kentucky, to take care of all sorts of things; your presence will be ABSOLUTELY required! In fact, your son cannot start school without your coming."
Then DH will have no choice but to let me go. And once I"m gone.... well you know...;)
I really hope you can get that fixed soon. The longer it festers, the worse the surgery may be - or is that appendix?? :confused3
The clinic wasn't open today, I"ll try again tomorrow. :confused3
But a weekend at Epcot?!? hmmmmm
I was back at work in 3 days. But I am crazy like that. And I had a lap and was home the same day.
Doesn't that sound so totally pirate-y fun?! pirate:

:I would rather do the race at the beginning of the trip...rather than the end...so my feet can handle it! :upsidedow
Oh....and we could.........do a relay... if someone in our little group is up for doing 5 miles (and I will do the 8 mile portion)......:rolleyes1
AND...(I keep adding to this post....)....
One of the "host" hotels is the Poly. AND...you get cheaper Theme Park Tickets. For your whole stay.
Exactly why I'm planning on putting the race at the begining of my trip.
The rest is sounding so enabling!

Ohh..the restaurant menu looks good, Liesa, but I'm a breakfast kinda girl!
I'm with Maroo on the college thing, when I went we had to have everything signed and returned before the end of the summer. That being said, I'm sure your son would love to have you stick around and help him get settled (or that's what I'd be telling dh, anyway!) :rotfl: As for the renters..if they're responsible enough to pay the rent for as long as they have been, you might be pleasantly surprised...not guaranteeing anything, lol.but you never know.

I echo the college thing. All the paperwork was long in before school started and even with the added complication of rush (which boys do differently anyway if he's even considering that route and I'm guessing not) all my parents did was help me move in. There was work over the summer, getting all the stuff together that was needed but actual involvement of my parents at the time of school starting was pretty much limited to one day and not a full day at that. For my sisters who went out of state it was a weekend only as they flew or drove down and spent the night before coming back but still, not much.
I might suggest you get a neutral party to look at the rental now to know what you are dealing with (email you pictures and such) and get some comps done. In this market I'd be hesitant to invest too much to make sure you got it back as things are moving so slowly so I'd be pretty cautious. You might actually be better off selling it as a fixer upper depending on the state of it. Basic things like paint, carpet and the yard can make things move a lot faster as well as repairs but anything bigger than that I'd make sure you'll really get the right return.
Any chance your long term renter would just want to buy it? Lease to own??
Sandie had the gall bladder surgery, Ron too I think (Jeff's dad) and both were down for a few days but def moving slower for a bit.

Darn, I missed another clue. I would have had to go to allears anyway to figure it out. I figured it was at POR, but I have never been to any of the restaurants there.
And I have to agree with everyone that September is HOT & HUMID! And you can double the humidity if there is a hurricane hanging out anywhere nearby - as in my wedding photo below! :scared1: But let me tell you - lines were non-existent! :thumbsup2
And unfortunatelyt, I have to agree with maroo on how the college experience went for me. But that doesn't have to be what you tell your DH. ;)
I've had a few tummy surgeries. Appendix I was released from hospital about 24 hours after admittance (ER), and back at work in about a week. Lapro I was released as soon as I was out of recovery, but I don't remember when I went back to work, probably a week, but modified b/c I was a waitress at that time.

There are a lot of places where it's really easy to split a counter service between two adults. Tink and I did this on our trip, and we never went hungry. Some of the portions are so huge, it was nice to share and be able to try more that way.

Hey, that's a good point about the renters being long-termers. That's a hint, perhaps, about how responsible (clean) they've been. One can only hope, right?!
I really don't know how long Andrew (DS,19) will want "mommy" around, but personally I'd love to get a read on his roommate, take a campus tour, all that stuff. Plus, if he ends up getting accepted to the ROTC program, I definitely want to see his uniform!
I'm so NOT a breakfast girl. I routinely go without until about 11:00, but then watch out. The animals on the Safari would be in serious danger, if I don't find sustenance elsewhere. That said, on the CS, we get 2!!!!! drinks with breakfast, so even if we go just for that, we'd score on drinks for the day. :thumbsup2

You are so right. What decent mother would deprive her son of the humiliating experience of hanging around to bug him and embarrass him in front of his new roommate?? What kind and generous mother would not want to see his physics and English classes?? It's an innate need, I'm sure!

That's amazing advice!! Someone who's not so emotionally attached might be better off looking at it. THey will certainly be able to see it with a more objective eye. You know, no tears involved sort of looky-see.
As for repairs. I seriously doubt we'd put very much into at all. Like you say, paint, (inside and out) carpet, a quick re-finish of the hardwood floor, and maybe new linoleum in the kitchen. The market sucks. WE just read in Fortune Mag. that Oregon's econ is THE worst in the nation. Nice. Bad time to sell!
I don't think they can (the lease to sell). They are both on disability and it's sort of a funky grown kids living there with boyfriends, kids. It's weird. I certain they are way over the limit of people who should even be there. Don't even get me started on owner's rights. The law is so far tipped in the renter's favor it's insane. But that's a controversial subject we don't have to go to here.
Anyway, we heard last night that my MIL is going in tomorrow for her lungs to be drained. It's looking like her cancer is going to take a turn for the worse. It started as women's cancer (apparently the DIS doesn't like the word I had originally chosen- which would have been more accurate, so women's it is). They got that "taken care of", but not before it had spread to her lungs. Then she had chemo, and radiation, and it slowed down for a good couple of years, but this lung drainging thing sure doesnt' sound good. Hence, the "hurry and buy the house" talk. I can certainly understand their anxiety.:guilty: :sad1:
Life really is so fragile and uncertain.
Darn, I missed another clue. I would have had to go to allears anyway to figure it out. I figured it was at POR, but I have never been to any of the restaurants there.

So, a week?? A week to do A LIESURELY tour of WDW. A little bench-sitting here, a little IASW there... Caseys hang out time, Caroussel of Progress...I'm liking the way that sounds.

Oh I'm so sorry about your MIL, that is not fun at all.
I don't know about Oregon being the worst in the nation, I hadn't heard that. My aunt did sell her house in Beaverton not that long ago. It took almost a year and a change in agents but she held out and did get close to her original price I think. It really needed a lot of work but she did the basics as the rest someone would have wanted to really redo it themselves, it was SO dated! I know stuff on my street has taken that long and has been on and off the market.
Maybe Oregon overall but Portland isn't as bad? I dunno, things seem to be getting worse around here. :sad2: A few folks that I used to work with all went to the same company, one I've been targeting. Looks like they just got laid off from that company.
But the 401K's seem to be slowly rebounding. I'd quit looking so was pleasantly surprised the other day.

Dear Comrades!
ATTENTION PLEASE!! It has come to the attention of Soldier #1 that a demotion is now in order!! Yes, a demotion!! :scared1:
When someone messes up this bad in the military, a soldier is marched off swiftly to the brig. But since we are the ones in this outfit who do the hiring and firing, are are in charge hauling naughty soldiers off to the brig, and who have the sole authority to order them to scrub the latrines with toothbrushes, we thought we'd do something less drastic to ourselves. I hereby order an immediate demotion to the rank of 2nd Lieutenant for Soldier #1. maroo, you can be whatever you want, but I don't think being a 2nd Lieutenant could possibly sound very fun after enjoying the sweet joys of being a 1st Class Lieut.!!!
What, you may be asking, was the crime that deserves such a perfectly wretched punishment? Well, Soldier #1 shmucked up and forgot an all-important monthly promotion. Now we are out almost a whole week of pay increase and any other benefits that might have come with the rank of Captain. We will have to wait until our 7 month mark to be promoted, and if we are really good soldiers, we might even be lucky enough to get a double promotion all the way up to Captain.
Now without further ado, P.H. would like to offer you a portrait of himself in front of the picture of his dream vacation spot. A quaint little lighthouse on the coast of Spain where he can eat paella all day and dance and schmooze with Mrs. PH all night.

Good morning. :)
I hope I didn't alarm you telling that you my surgery was a seven week recovery. :scared: Sorry if I did. For me, as others have said it was an in the same day and out the same day thing, but it's kinda slow going after wards. You'll be in pain a good week, (depending on your pain threshhold, mine is at a medium-not great, but not bad) but with good drugs to get you through, :goodvibes and then it's go at the pace you can stand for the next few weeks. Each week was better, and within a couple of weeks I was back to doing the same things I had been, it was just a little on the slower side and I tired out much more easily. This was 11 yrs. ago, I don't know how I would handle it now. I would say for sure in a few weeks or so you'll more than be ok to get on a plane if you have to....notice I said if you have to.
As far as the college thing....I would assume that you won't be able to get all his things for his room while your out of the country, so that will take some time to get together, :rolleyes1 trash cans, rugs, toiletries, clothing, lamps, clocks, maybe a mini-fridge, microwave, the what-have-you's. ;) These things take time seeing how you don't know what accomodations he will be living in. :rolleyes1
Amanda had the same thoughts I did about the renters, if you've got long term renters there may be a better outcome there in your house than you think. Cythia was so smart to tell you not to go to nuts with fixing up the place above what it takes to be sold. And if all else fails in that department.... you'll have it fixed up to bring in a more caring set of renters who will hopefully take better care of the place and if not, you'll be there to make sure they get booted. Then you can kick the managment company to the curb and keep the 10% they were getting. :thumbsup2
It's funny we just talked about my DH having a managment company handling things for him....he just told me lastnight they aren't handling things well, so it's time for a new company. What are the odds? :confused3

I figured you weren't in bed for 7 weeks, and it was just as you say, more "slow going" for a while. Alas, maybe a weekender isn't a good idea. ??
I could stall my return, if it comes to that, if I needed to. "Just not feeling well enough to travel yet, hon. I think I need another few days... ;)"

Ohhhh, there's a new spin on things... we can't get hardly ANYTHING he'll need over here. Only 220 appliances that work for about 4 days. I'm sure we'll need to go to Walmart several times, and get him all outfitted up. :thumbsup2 That'll surely take weeks!! About 3, in fact. :confused3 :rotfl2:
Then you can kick the managment company to the curb and keep the 10% they were getting. :thumbsup2

I can't remember how long you've been hanging out with us- but every month (well usually!) we give ourselves "some self-promotion" in rank and order. We started out as lowly Privates, but have worked, researched, simply strived for our monthly upgrades!!!:dance3::banana: But this month with visitors, my son home, the holidays, having self-inflicted shrimp wounds and all that, I was caught sleeping on the job. It's ok though, it just means less time until we get our next promotion!

DEMOTED?!?!?!
oh no!!! :scared1:
We totally forgot to promote ourselves!
Well...I am feeling this demotion today.......
I am scrubbing toilets. Really.
And I wish...I wish I couldn't explain...but the STINCH...where I am right now. It smells worse than ANYTHING I have ever smelled. Portopotty smell. Strong.
I guess the lack of water in the city has caused some other problem.   And it is coming from outside...because scrubbing our toilet and sinks in here and flushing them with bottled water did not help.
So I was not shocked to see I was demoted. I just hope we get a promotion....SOON! Back to the land of the free and the home of the brave. Back to the place where we had WATER...regular...free...clean water...to flush toilets and cook and clean. And drink. I forgot about that.
I finally had to start really drinking water (or cokes) yesterday. I had been really TRYING not to drink anything - since the closest working restroom is about a 20 minute walk away.
So...DEMOTED. Yep. I feel it. :sad2:
GAG!

Why thank you. I wondered if anyone would catch that? I'm seeing you here more and more, which makes me think you're feeling all settled in like on the homestead. :laundy:
You are welcome! I am more settled though life is still crazy but I missed you guys and my Disney fix too much to take another self-imposed hiatus. So, I am trying like heck to keep up with my favorite threads, I am not worried about catching up on the time I lost and the hardest task of all I am trying not to subscribe to many new threads. This is the hardest task for me because I love to talk WDW, I love love love WISH trip TR's and PTR's and I love good writers. But, I can't work and keep my crazy life running and spend hours on the DIS every day (as much as I would like to).
Well, I think maybe you need to skip a promotion but you certainly don't deserve a demotion considering the turbulence your life has been experiencing lately. Though it sounds like Maroo got a major demotion since she is cleaning the latrines now! Hope you get water back soon!

And I wish...I wish I couldn't explain...but the STINCH...where I am right now. It smells worse than ANYTHING I have ever smelled. Portopotty smell. Strong.
Welcome to my world. The real icing on the cake would be if they actually pumped the black water INTO your home/office because they don't know what they are doing!!! :scared1:
So, I am trying like heck to keep up with my favorite threads, I am not worried about catching up on the time I lost and the hardest task of all I am trying not to subscribe to many new threads.
I am very thankful this is one of them!! If you really love good writing check out any of Circusgirl's threads!! Amazing writer, Heather is! She doesn't update that often, so it's just a nice leisurely sit-down kinda read. Very descriptive, and not your normal "grocery list" style TR.
:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:
I'm not laughing at the demotion, I know that's serious stuff.
It's the adorable factor of "Mr. Tato" (as my soon would call him) that's getting to me.
He is somtimes known as TVPH around here. His clothes changes are actually becoming quite disturnbing. :lmao::lmao:
Mr. Potato head looks so confused.:thumbsup2
He is a very disturbed and confused individual. Maybe on his way to Spain, he should stop and pick up a change job in Thailand. I mean how would you feel if your standard wardrobe came with both mens' and womens' clothing?!!:rotfl2:
Hey I did the Latrine yesterday !! Does that counts as a Demotion !!!:rotfl2:What is below Private ???????:lmao:

Okay, after exhaustive research ---> Sanaa. I never knew this was the name of a city. Disney says that the name of the restaurant means "work of art", if I remember correctly. But I looked at wikipedia for Nigeria....nope, no clues there, then Yemen....ah-ha!

Even though my DBF doesn't show it, I know deep down inside a piece of him dies everytime the terrible "D" word comes up. But he has no choice in the matter. What do I declare my freedom from when I go to Disney? Oooooooooo. This is a good one. Let me list just a few: DBF parents (well, maybe not so much anymore since I'm moving back home after living under their roof for nearly 2 years), work, laundry, snow (gotta love Canada), cooking from frozen (gets pretty boring after a while). There's plenty more but I'd hate to drone on and on.

It's after 12:00 here, and it's high time I turned in, but I really wanted to get the answer to the last Rations Drop out, in case you're all dying from curiosity!
After the give-it-away hint I gave you, most of you ended up being right on the money! It was Sanaa, which happens to be the name of the Yemenese capital.
The alleged most recent airline bomber was from there, hence my hint about terrorists being harbored there.
Go ahead and google Sanaa and Yemen, and check out the really cool "castle on a cliff".
Anyhow, I"ll have to wait now until Monday to do up points. And I'll also go ahead and give the next clue out then as well. I kinda want to speed the game up a bit and finish up RD, as there is still a ton of fun stuff coming up over the next months!
Talk to ya'll on (your) Sunday night!

That's an outrage! OUTRAGE I TELL YOU!
What's the world coming to these days?
As to the trivia, I'm pretty sure I saw a news story on the terrorsit activities in Pinocchio Village Haus Yemen. Or maybe it was Yukitan. I'm not sure. There were puppets. And grenades. And a bearded man with a french fry. Anywho, hope all is well. Glad the shrimp was a passing illness. (In more ways than one apparently.)
:rotfl::rotfl: This is why I keep coming back to the DIS, it's humor like this that keeps me in stitches.
Don't you people know I avoid the news? It messes with my happy place and half full attitude! Jeff's enough of a media feed for me.
Le Cellier
Cynthia, I'm totally with you. I can't watch it any more, I've prayed and asked God to inform me of what I really need to know and the rest I just let go. Which was really tough for me. I was a major news and political talk show junky at the time, and had been since three elections ago. I've been banning the news since about the time the last elections started taking a toll on my weary mind. I could takes no mo! :sad2: It was an idol I had to put down, and I'm a much happier and a lot more less stressed girl for it. :thumbsup2 Working in the Texas Capitol this last session started giving me the bug again. Hopefully I'll work on just keeping it more local than anything. :) After all we've got a Governor race coming up! :yay:
I am news clueless. I still have no idea.
I am telling you, this child is sapping all my brain power! :lmao:
They do that! Pregnancy brain is a sad, sad situation. When I was preggers with my dd10, my family would all run from different parts of the house when I would come home from the gorcery store to see what the silly pregnant lady came home with this time.....even though she went with a grocery list. I would come home with the most random stuff, and couldn't tell you why I bought it! I'm sure I had some brilliant idea as to why I should have gotten the item in the first place, all be darned if I could have told you why once I came home with it! :rotfl: All will be good again once you have the baby. :thumbsup2
I have actually been banned from going to anything having to do with blogger, blogspot, all of that!!! Someone is P133ED!!!
Whoa! Really?!? Makes me want to Praise the big man I was born and live in the place I do. ;)
I really hope the folks from our illustrious authority camp don't show up tomorrow!! :scared1: Could this really happen? You mean you would actually be in trouble from the people you work with/for/under?
We downloaded some TOR software and I was able to get on, and deleted a few posts that I thought were marginally no-no, so that said, I will really be extra careful!!!
Wow! I'll be glad when your home. Makes me greatful for things I don't usually have to give a lot of thought to, I will now.

I'm glad I listened too, I'm a much happier person for it. :goodvibes I thought for sure I wouldn't have a clue on what's happening in the world and would be unhappy about it....not even close!

I'll probably never know, unless they come knocking on my door. But we've done nothing illegal or taboo, I think they just like to generally control what comes in and goes out, inclu. info.
I'll just have to keep what I write to a general tone and be very careful about what I say about other people-hence I took 2 posts down. I was very, very sad to do that though. The adoption brought us so much joy!

I've taken to keeping a bowl of cut up fruit in the fridge, because I also have the delight of waking up hungry/thirsty. It really helps to have some pineapple in there because it's such a watery fruit.

Here's one site I've found that's helpful. It's a collection of reviews (a one-stop-shop so to speak) for Sanaa. It's on allears, so you can do a search for just about any restaurant you want.

My guess is: Starring Rolls
I've never eaten here or at several of the places you guys are planning to hit. There are so many fabulous restaurants to choose from in the world that my goal now for every trip is to try several new ones. Now, that we don't have to focus quite so heavily on character meals I can expand my options a bit.

Thanks for the great report on Sanaa!
You write much better than me (or is it I? ;)) and spend time describing each item. I'm usually like 'I had the Filet and it was goo-ood!' LOL:lmao:
There seems to be interesting food there. My DW and I would probably be game but my DD... hummmm. Well it looks like they have a 'normal' kids menu so it could be a possibility. DD3 did like the flat breads at Jiko though and even liked trying the non-spicy spreads. :goodvibes

If your kids are young enough to eat off of the kids menu, they should have no problem. They offer the standard "kid-fare". As you saw in my report, we had an issue because my son wanted the more exotic food, but in a kid-sized portion, and it wasn't on the kids menu. They took care of him though, for sure.
My kids are pretty adventurous eaters. We try to get them to some ethnic restaurants to stretch their experiences a little, so Sanaa was not something that was really unusual for them.

I think everyone who answered in this round was right on the money- the answer was Starring Rolls, a great place to pick up a great tasting (surprisingly) cup of coffee and a sandwich or pastry.
Love the variety of clue-giving!
YOU GOT IT!!! Great job!
Yeah, I guess it's the teacher coming out in me. Catering to all learning styles and all that. :lmao: I thought it'd be a little harder than it was, but was happy to see so many get an easy point.
Honestly, I'm thrilled to be out of the character phase myself (as far as meals go); it was fun while it lasted, but they take a lot of time, and the food is never very, shall we see, mature for the more adventurours eaters.
That was my goal too, try a whole bunch of new stuff, keep a couple of favorites!
Okay, I'll go with Starring Rolls. I've never been there, but it does have a great location.
Hi Shannon, Hey I got your prize out yesterday, so look for that in a few weeks. Better late than never, eh?? ;)
Location, location, location!! It is a perfect place to sit and relax with a VERY good cup of coffee and people watch for a frew relaxing minutes.
I'm going with Starring Rolls.I kept trying to find something that was xxx Grill as that works with the letters too!
I have eaten here and enjoyed it very much!
WOW!! You even got grill from it too. I almost made it harder and didn't tell ya'll that it was 2 words.
I only had a pastry here with a latte, and it was so tasty-good. Next time, I actually may pick up a sandwich- if F! ends up being on the docket.
I woke up this morning and it came to me...seriously....
starring rolls.
Like a flash of lightening? or a cold splash of water? or was it like you were having a fitful sleep stewing over this Jordan?? That would be something I would do. :lmao:
I have NO idea!
Isn't that sad?!?!?! :rotfl:
popcorn:: :surfweb:
maroo, that is seriously sad. But to be fair, I'm not sure we've talked about this one a lot. I was more thinking of just a quickie pop in for a latte and a snack, but now as I re-think it, I may go in deep- their sandwiches looked like the bomb! Big, fat, loaded with meat.
It took me long enough, but I think I've got it... starring rolls
That stinks that you were all sick too. Hope Bekka is feeling better.
I might get to read your TR before my trip after all. We won't know until the beginning of March, but both my boys will be having medical tests done for different things, and we don't know yet what that does to our trip. I'm still planning it as if we are going this summer, but only time will tell.
How is everything else going for you?
Nope, not feeling any better. In fact, I'm getting a little worried that Bekka's has gone further down. I may put her on an antibiotic if I don't see improvement by tomorrow. I can hear her hacking up a lung from her room.
Oh no! Not a cancellation! That would really smell! But, med. tests are important, and you do need to get down to the bottom of any questions you might have!
Honestly, until we choose a date to return our trip is a tiny bit uncertain. My MIL is dying, we have to sell this house, we just don't know what life holds in the next 6-8 months. But DH told me last night to plan as if I were going as planned, and that's the best we can do. Actually, I am surprisingly coming to a place of peace about this. Last month, it rocked my world, but the Father is one of Peace, and I am realizing that postponing can actually be a good thing. Disney will always be there.
It's only sad if you're aware of all the places you're eating. If it's a surprise to you, too, then I think we can let it slide. ;)
Mostly she is, but I think I may have thrown this one for kicks and giggles.
Thanks for the great report on Sanaa!
You write much better than me (or is it I? ;)) and spend time describing each item. I'm usually like 'I had the Filet and it was goo-ood!' LOL:lmao:

I went back and read it too!! It was a superb job at reviewing AND writing!!
As I went to bed thinking about the review I was trying to find, it dawned on me that it wasn't for Sanaa at all, it was for one of the next places on RD!!! Doy!
I don't think Jul will not have a hard time finding something yummy! And maybe she will even surprise you and find something new and exciting to nosh on. :confused3
Grammar lesson of the day: You would have to use "me" because (Jen correct me if I'm wrong here) you need the objective case. You would be the subject with "write" as the verb. At least that's my take on it. I could be way of though, since honestly, I have no idea if "better than" is a correlative clause or prepositional phrase. Maybe that doesn't matter, even.

Glenn, would you say the food was ethnic enough?? Was the curry spicy enough to be called curry??
I remember we went to Marrakesh and were so disappointed that what was sitting on our plates resembled Moroccan like I resemble a being of Asian decent. No offense, Jordan, just using a bad simile here. ;)

This place is about as far as it can be in the Continental US from its namesake. I'm sure the cooking methods it employs are far more extensive than its name suggests as well.
Tim was responsible for Kona; someone else is responsible for this one. Her TR is being well-drawn out, but we "never expected that", did we? ;)

Well, I believe you are both correct in that me should have been used in that case. Whenever I am not sure, I usually reword my sentence in a way that I am sure is correct (I know - I have issues :lmao:). For example, I would have reworded the sentence to say - You write much better than I do.
As for the latest RD, I had to think about this one but then I think I got it - California Grill. I do have to be careful not to read my e-mails or to look to closely or I can see the white too.
