Rations Drop - Clue #2
There once was a place with a horn
Which was never open in morn
They feed you a lot
Come grab your spot
On a seat that's well-worn.
Make your guess, our Fellow Compatriots- in this quest for the Week O' Freedom!!!

A prizey poo?
:cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1:
Great Maroo, Puppies and GF updates
:goodvibes
We have all kinds of good stuff here.
First off, a prizey-poo will be off this weekend to your side of the globe. It will be unique- that's all I'm sayin'.
GF was totally brown-nosing me last night on FB!! I was so cracking up- She says, "You've raised such a gentleman!"
I say, "So what does he do that's so gentlemanly?"
She says, "Well, he carries my backpack, and when I sit in the ground, he offers me his jacket to sit on."
Isn't that sweet??
I didn't. It's just the one place that always comes to my mind when talking about eating fish at WDW. :confused3 :rotfl:
Funny! I always think of Cape May or Flying Fish, or even Coral Reef, but have never been to any of them. :lmao:
Woohoo! For everyone who got Columbia Harbor House..I'll have to research the next one more..lol.
Thank you for the Maroo update..so glad Rachel is continuing to feel okay and not running fevers! I can't wait to hear all about it when they get back!
You are always allowed to "research"! ;)
You are welcome. I didn't talk to her today; my stupid retarded headset broke- like totally broke!! The mike won't work at all, so DH will go buy a new one today- I hope. maroo can chat with me (text) but it's hard for her on her iPhone. Hopefully more later.
We'll talk when I win the lottery.
CHH was my first guess. I should of stayed with that. We were going to eat there in November but never did.:guilty:
I'm so glad to hear the rain stayed away for Maroo until AFTER MVMCP was over. We had terrible rain last night here too. The roads were flooded. This morning too, I kept the girls home from school until it cleared up a bit.
Can't wait to hear what she does next!
Glad to hear Rachel is doing well too.:goodvibes
Let me know when you hit the jackpot!! :lmao:
Ah nuts!! YOu should have gone with your gut feeling! It's a great place!
Flooding!!?? Be careful!!
You are going to love her TR!! More hopefully tonight!
CHH used to have a ham sandwich too...no more.:sad2:
They did!! I like those too! Esp. with Dijon mustard!
Still peeved about my bread bowl!!
Thanks! I will check out your TR. I actually AM the camping type - I love it. Its my mom who isn't. Growing up, all our vacations were camping trips - which for her meant lots of work while my dad fished. Us kids had fun, though!
Gorgeous work, Liesa!
How awesome. Can't wait to hear all about it when she gets back!
We all like to camp too, but feel I am growing out it, too. Like you say wayyyyyy too much work for momma! (me) but the kids and DH have a great time. Hence the luxe vacay with girlie friends!!
Thanks!
Hopefully I can talk to her tonight, WITH MY NEW HEADSET!!

** Okay, went back to the first set of rations drop explanations and have it now..sheesh! I think it's past my bedtime..:surfweb:  Going to go to bed, and I'll look tomorrow and change my answer.

Quick update from Soldier #2:
Her and her compadres are smack in the middle of Fantasy Land having a ball, but seem a little befuddled at what to do next.
They had a fun breakfast before Rope Drop, then hit some attractions.
Rachel is holding out great, but today she says, is quite a bit colder. Their plan is to hop to DHS and catch the lights and some other stuff over there.
Sounds like they are having a total blast!!!

I haven't got a clue.
I'm glad to hear they are having a great time in fantasyland. It is a lot colder in Florida. I went to be with it being 80 and woke up with it being 60. It's probably colder there.
It's a gorgeous day out so it's time to get off the DIS and we are going to decide what to do. We are thinking of Santa's Enchanted Forest. (amusement park)
Have a good day (Oh yea, it's night for you)

Too funny about GF! And too wierd to be talking to her on FB lol!
ITA about camping though thankfully Jeff really does a lot as does Taylor so it isn't so bad. That said it is SO much more fun with another family, another mama to have a glass of wine with while you cook and take turns on the feeding so everyone eats together. I grew up going on a multi family camping trip every summer and now, as an adult I TOTALLY get it in a different way! We did it last summer, hope to do it again this one.

I’m back- finally, after a horrible night’s sleep. My allergies kept me awake most of the night, and when I was sleeping my rest was riddled with macabre and terrifying nightmares. Let me give you some background information before I give you some of the details. Most people travel by train around here. It is affordable, safe, (10 years ago they would pump sleeping gas under your doors, then break in and rob you blind.) and mostly on time. That is one of the perks of living in an ex –Soviet Union country; they really pride themselves on their on-time train schedule. So, I was doing well, after I was finally able to get back to sleep after my full-on snot-a-thon, but then I have this bizarre dream.
For some reason I was travelling by train with 4 of my kids, and was going to somewhere to get married? If that’s not weird enough, I felt compelled to buy some pants for all of us. In our trains they allow all kinds of peddlers to board for a short time (like one or two stops) to sell all kinds of stuff: food, clothes, amulets for the evil eye, and toys and magazines. I thought I needed some pants, but after I bought them they ended up being these Thai-style pants that are wrap around, tie-at-the-waist jobbies. By the way, don’t EVER wear these. One time I was wearing a pair I have at church (which is really like a small gathering in someone’s living room) and by golly, if the tie didn’t get stuck in the couch crack. I stood up and those darn things just came right OFF in front of like 10 people!! They had quite a peep show of pasty white butt with my skivvies in all their glory. OK, now where was I? Oh yeah! I bought a pair of pants like these, but that was not the worst of it. They ended up being made of some weird sort of see-through fabric- not very becoming AT ALL!
So, it was finally time to get off the train, and my oldest daughter gets off with me, and we go to try to find a taxi. Please, don’t ask me why I didn’t take all my kids off the train with me? This is a dream; odd things happen in dreams. I come back to the train, and holy crap! It’s leaving!! I scream and the conductor stops it, but doesn’t understand me, and waves it on again. I can see my crying kids in the window, and I do this funky hand motion/charades to tell them I’ll pick them up at the next stop (hours away).
I won’t bore you with more except to say, it all turned out ok in the end. A co-worker drives me to the next stop, we get the kids, blah, blah, blah, but not before some other kooky stuff happens like my oldest son racing down the track after the train Superman style and diving onto the train to be with the kids (he wasn’t anywhere in the dream up til now), parading through the town with my see-through, Thai pants on, and doing a rehearsal for my wedding with my mom.
Now that I have all that off my chest, I can get back to the task at hand- revealing Rations Drop Clue #2. Honestly, I thought this was a very easy clue, and I’m surprised only 4 of you got it right!!
Get your Little Teapots on, and sing-along:
I’m a tasty restaurant
Full of benches,
Here are my horns
And here are my wenches
When you eat at me
These guys you’ll hear,
Dance the polka
And drink some beir!!!
Besides Mickey’s Backyard BBQ, this is the only place on property that you sit on benches. Did you guys see my auxiliary clue?? Maybe you missed that!
So, congratulations to Piper’smom, that’snice, SleepingBooty, and Rosie!! Yay!!!! OOPS, I see Cynthia just squeaked in with the right answer, too!!
Next clue will be easier I promise it will be soon!

OK, then my memory must be having Alheimers Issues. I read on someone's TR that they sat on benches. Seriously, I'll give everyone a point if I'm wrong- which is highly possible, as I've never been here, and my brain cells are in limited supply these days.
Help me out here!
By the way, THANKS! for adding the pix!! I wanted to add a photo for every line, but the person whose TR I was wanting to use didn't have a TOC, and I don't have time to sit and look at the whole thing trying to find them. I already lost my work once this morning, and would have had that update up at 10:00, but after I had the whole thing typed, (1/2 hour of work) my power went off. How typical!

By the way, how are people posting their answers without showing their answers?

Parting ways with sweet and gentle Minnie Moo and Co., we made our way back to the home on wheels. Supper was ready, which brings me to another general memory of the trip I feel compelled to share--- the subject of eating. In one word, it was weird.
My parents are foodies. They love to eat; well and often. We do too, but being that we were poor tightwads, we just couldn’t afford to do that, causing a strange and uncomfortable dilemma for all involved. On the one hand, I could tell they wanted to eat more often at restaurants along the way, but for some inexplicable reason, Mom had some phobic-like aversion to cooking in the RV. Ummmm, hello, Mom, this thing has a dishwasher and more counter space than your average urban home. This was just so odd to me! It was as if when they wanted to eat out, and did, they resented the cost of their choice; yet when they chose to eat in, they resented the cooking and cleaning associated with it. I know that the trip itself was costing about 5 camels and 3 sheep in gas alone, so it seemed prudent to me to just cook in the place provided. I distinctly remember one heated disagreement over this issue at the 30th Burger King we stopped at. Wasn’t a tuna sandwich and chips good enough?!
Anyway, I just couldn’t afford back then to eat in the parks, so each day we ate dinners back at the ranch, but tried to either pack lunches, or pick up a CS wherever we were. Funny, this same issue reared its ugly head during our 2008 trip too. Some things never change.
Meanwhile, back at the Ranch, with another tension-filled meal out of the way, it was time to find the pool! By the time we arrived at the Meadows Pool, by way of trusty WDW Transportation Diesel Stagecoach, it must have been 8 or 9. The swimming hole was completely abandoned, and I remember thinking that even if the pool was closed, we were still going swimming. Call me Jesse James if you want, but we had arrived, I was hijacking that pool! So what if it was 50, we were goin’ in! I can tell you now, it lasted approximately 3. 58 minutes. Shivering, we tucked our tails and returned to our pad. But not without some excitement! Saddle up your diapers, ‘cuz the Goobers just got their first glance at… wait for it….
AN ARMADILLO!!!
Stop it! Stop laughing right now! You’re all thinking “so what- it’s an armadillo!” OK, so I don’t think seeing camels or yurts, or eating boiled sheep’s heads is all that exciting anymore, but you might. You might even leak a little to see the dromedaries standing in the bus stops! When I tell you that we got pretty excited over an armadillo, I really mean it. There you have it, another confession. We liked the armadillos at the Fort. We thought the little bunnies, lizards, wild turkeys and cranes we cool too! Maroo, wanna go for an armadillo hunt one night? It’d be like a Snipe Hunt, but even more fun! You can see Spectro anytime; armadillos you cannot.
All swum out, after our 3.58 minutes, and armadillo excitement behind us, it was time for bed. DH got himself all snuggled down in his little hovel under the motor home, and the rest of us tucked in wherever we could find room inside. Yup, you read that right; he brought a sleeping bag, rolled it our under the RV and slept right there. He knew it’d be crowded on the inside, but I guess he was worried it might rain in the night. Whatever…
That night I fell asleep to the sound of the ferries and launches blowing their merry horns on the 7 Seas Lagoon, eager to know what tomorrow would hold when our little posse crossed over to the Land of Magical Adventures.

Call me odd, but I'd much rather have a tuna sandwich than BK any day, lol. I completely understand the budget thing, we go out to eat once a month, and when we do, we make a major production about it, I think it makes it more fun! I would have been all excited about seeing an armadillo as well..I can still remember the first time I saw one and had I not had a young, unstretched 16 yo bladder, I prob would have leaked a bit too. :rotfl: So funny your hubby sleeping in a sleeping bag under the RV! I'd rather be cramped I think than worrying about the snakes coming under there at night to warm up!

Holy Balogna, me too!! I like a BK, but only about twice a year, and NEVER over a tuna sandwich!! I guess it came down to a totally different mindset. We dont' eat out often, they eat out ALL THE TIME. Not special at all.

Hello everyone!!!!
I am back!
You know that Post Disney Depression some of us get after a wonderful Disney World trip...Well, I got it.
For some reason, within hours, life hit me square in the face. As of this morning life is happening all around me and most of it is bad news. Personal junk with a couple of close friends and my boss' daughter is dying of cancer. She has 4 kids and it is Christmas - for crying out loud. Which people around here are doing a lot of.
Because my boss is out, I have a considerable amount of work to do - both catching up on mine and working on hers - so, Welcome Home, Mary, Welcome Home.
I have already started working on a trip report...I WILL be doing one for this trip. It was a trip FULL of many, many blessings and something that will be remembered for a long, long time.
So, I am not really glad to be home and can't even DIS for a bit - so hang with me! I will have lots of time this weekend with the Holidays. :)

I did think about it, but I'm not sure how much Piper would eat there. I'm giving her the choice of Teppan Edo and Akershus. My mom is a huge fan of German food, she lived in Germany when my Dad was stationed there..I think for 3 or 4 yrs! We might end up there anyway considering that..lol.

:rotfl:
Armadillos are TRES cool. We'd have been thrilled to see one at the Fort but alas did not. Not exactly a creature us Northwesterners get to see is it! Of course we are also fascinated by gecko's and palmetto bugs.
Snakes. Not so much.
BLEH. I WORKED at BK and rather have a Tuna sandwich 9.5 times out of 10. Granted I'd rather have a tuna sandwich most days but am too lazy to make one. Somehow soup is faster. Or Turkey.:confused3 All I know is there is one at CHH with my name on it whether anyone else eats with me or not (darn Cosmic Ray fanatics that lot!).
Sometimes I think it's more resentment of the production aspect, than the food itself if you know what I mean. I know in '04 I resented packing lunch every day. It would have been nice to be able to afford lunch out but it was out of the question. Frankly, had we not done the DDP, which we would not have were it not for the buy 4 get 3 promo savings, we'd have packed lunch the last trip every day as well. You make a good point though. I could see the same issues with my In Laws for our August trip.
But hey, at least you were packing it up inside the RV, not outside where the humidity sucked the life out of the bread before you could eat it. Oh the memories I have of lunches made out of the back of our car on the road!
On the flip side, at a certain point I want soemthing back at the ranch and get tired of eating out.
Sounds good to me! I'll let you know how the wenches and bier (no, no, not the beer, beer is wretched gross!) are in Sept. :thumbsup2
Apparently there aren't any benches either. :confused3 So, I"m all wet.
My poem sounded good, though.:lmao:
Next clue coming in the AM.
I LOVED the poem!
It is so true at the holidays, the good is better and brighter, the bad...darker.
We will be here and can't wait to read about it!
They do have a decent selection of "american" food, my 2 pickier eaters filled up just fine though they vastly preferred Teppan Edo, dubbed the landslide favorite by all 4 kids.

I got lost....but I'm back now. So we're back on track with rations drops and retro disney trip reports - awesome! :thumbsup2 And bunches of more going on, it took me half the morning to catch up (while "working";)).
I liked the poem and Biergarten looks really cute inside, I think we'll have to put that on the extremely long list of restaurants to eat at next time we make it to WDW. I'm thinking I might have to stay there a month to eat at all of the places we want to eat at.

I really think she'd like Teppan Edo! Half show/ half great food!! We felt rushed at Akershus, but i know a lot of folks love the character thing- we don't really....
Are you giving your mom a shot at a pick too? Maybe this could be her meal of choice?
Are you sure he just wasn't avoiding your parents?
:rotfl:
yes, yes YES!!! And he still does. They do NOT get along for the most part.
Armadillos are TRES cool. We'd have been thrilled to see one at the Fort but alas did not. Not exactly a creature us Northwesterners get to see is it! Of course we are also fascinated by gecko's and palmetto bugs.
Snakes. Not so much.
They are too cool!! Did you know they hiss when bugged?!
NO, we Northwesterners get to see beavers and coyotes and ducks. My in-laws place on the Willamette has a ton of snakes; my kids love to catch them and ooooh and ahhhh...
EWWWWWWW! Working fast food sucks!! I worked at TB for a short while (until the manager told me to go get hit by a bus when I gave my notice).
I still love me some Mexican though.
And I will be on your side forever with tuna yummies! And when you get yours with your name on it, I will be cheering you on! :cheer2:
I think there needs to be a balance when there's such a mixed group. and expectations spelled out early on. My parents are pretty unreasonable in this dept. though, so it wouldn't have mattered.
This trip is out every meal. I think I may be even bagging the Garden Grocer idea, as I suspect some of our CS meals can be split and we can pick up a couple of breakfasts.
I LOVED the poem!
Thanks!
It is so true at the holidays, the good is better and brighter, the bad...darker.
We will be here and can't wait to read about it!
I just found out that both my grandfathers are in intensive care- one needs a blood transfusion, the other has pneumonia. The good and the bad....this year seems to be more full of hard stuff.
They do have a decent selection of "american" food, my 2 pickier eaters filled up just fine though they vastly preferred Teppan Edo, dubbed the landslide favorite by all 4 kids.
Duly noted... :rolleyes1

Here is the next clue for Rations Drop. Hopefully, this one will be easier than the last one!! Good luck!
This is one of only 2 places I'm going to becuase of one of you! You know who you are.... When I fall into a sugar coma while riding the monorail to EPCOT later, you can blame yourself. That is, if I don't have a caffeine-induced frenzy first. And if it's not the sugar or caffeine that does me in, then certainly the lard fried /mush-stuffed breakfast item will.

I would be shocked if you didn't like it there. Maybe between the TC3, you can order 2 or 3 different meals then split them or order(has to be in white) a Tonga Toast, a big kahuna, and the fruit platter. That will be more than enough food for the 3 of you!

"Fezzik are those rocks ahead? "
"If they are, we'll all be dead."
That would be one of my all time favorite flicks: The Princess Bride. Line 1 Spoken by Vizzini (Played by actor Wallace Shawn who played Rex the Dinosaur in the Toy Story movies and Grand Nagus Zek on Star Trek DS9.) Line two was spoken by by Fezzik (played by Andres the Giant.)
Another favorite
Vizzini: "INCONCIEVABLE!"
Inigo Montoya: "You use that word a lot. I do not think it means what you think it means."
That movie is leak worthy funny.

I am back, Tim and really had a great trip!
I hope to start my pre-trip report during the Christmas Holidays!
I am DRIVING to Disney in Sept so that we can have a car. It will make things a lot easier on all of us.
For this past trip, we left at 7:00 AM and got back at 4:00 PM - My friend flew and had to catch ME at 9:30 and were home by 3:00...so, they saved some time...but not enough to warrant renting a car to avoid the drive.
I am going to avoid driving to Disney each time I go...simply because I don't want to put the miles on my fairly old (10 year old) car. I need it to last me another 5 years! But for our big trip, I plan to drive - which will save us lots of time and money since we can go to the store, drive directly to resorts, etc.

We had one last week that whenever you went to an internet page it would automatically redirect you, saying the page was unsafe. I mean, I understand that on Winkers' thread, but when you go on Norton or Microsoft? It took you to a page where you could buy some security software to take care of it (a ransom, in my book). I kept running Norton scans, but they never took care of it. I thought I was going to have to re-install Windows, but then one morning Norton had run and taken care of it. :confused3, but thankful.

My hubby's office guy is working on running the viruscan on ours now that he uses for his company; we tried to run Norton on Mark's and it won't even let us (I'm hoping Jim at hubby's office can take care of his too). Both of these I believe came from Facebook--from a friend of ours, but it really wasn't sent by that "friend" -- it just looked like it did...so someone scammed his account on Facebook.

I need it to last me another 5 years! But for our big trip, I plan to drive - which will save us lots of time and money since we can go to the store, drive directly to resorts, etc.
You're too funny! (wanna spend some money?)
I don't even thing we'll be needing to go to the store with all our credits and sharing food. Honestly, I'd rather pay OOP than go to the store! Plus, if you're driving, you can bring seom things in cooler, right??
We had one last week that whenever you went to an internet page it would automatically redirect you, saying the page was unsafe. I mean, I understand that on Winkers' thread, but when you go on Norton or Microsoft? It took you to a page where you could buy some security software to take care of it (a ransom, in my book). I kept running Norton scans, but they never took care of it. I thought I was going to have to re-install Windows, but then one morning Norton had run and taken care of it. :confused3, but thankful.
Yeah, these FB ones scare the pants off me! Glad yours got taken care of!!

I hope I'm not too late. My guess is Kona Cafe, the tonga toast is so good.
You're not too late. I won't be able to post my answer until later today, when you're all in bed! DH is now on vacay, which means next to zero internet time for me.
Someone gave us a heads up via FB post that said they were coming, etc...
Thank goodness I had known!
I'm obviously very late to the clue #3 party, but my guess is...
tonga toast and press pot kona coffee at the Kona Cafe
By the way, we had some excitement around here over the weekend - my only child (DD22) got engaged!
:banana::banana::banana: That's super news!! Thanks sooooooo much for sharing it with us!! We all are really rejoicing with you!

Yikes on all the viruses, there have been some nasty ones via FB that the senders have NOT sent. Thankfully I've gotten a heads up each time
Someone told me that playing Farmville (which I abhor, by the way) can open one up for some sort of ID theft. Anyone hear of that??!!

Personally, I think going in for some of the Macadamia pancakes, and I'm going to ask if they'll let me have some of strawberry compote to go with it. That sounds heavenly! Sausage is a must!! Ditto with the coffee!

I just read a book with a character who likes to rhyme and another guy (who is annoyed at the rhyming) says "Emanuela, it's time thee learned
That prose is nothing to be spurned"
multiple leaks!
Inigo Montoya: That Vizzini, he can *fuss*.
Fezzik: Fuss, fuss... I think he like to scream at *us*.
Inigo Montoya: Probably he means no *harm*.
Fezzik: He's really very short on *charm*.
Inigo Montoya: You have a great gift for rhyme.
Fezzik: Yes, yes, some of the time.
Vizzini: Enough of that.
Inigo Montoya: Fezzik, are there rocks ahead?
Fezzik: If there are, we all be dead.
Vizzini: No more rhyming now, I mean it.
Fezzik: Anybody want a peanut?
Vizzini: DYEEAAHHHHHH.
I'm quite good with an imaginary Dole Whip and the smile just thinking about this movie brings. In fact I think it's time to watch it again, it's been a while and I think it's dusty.
this is the best conversation in the entire flick aside from the one between Vizzini and Welsey during the poison scene- "you've heard of Galeleo? Plato?Socrates? Morons." :lmao::lmao: his other one good line is "probably some late night fisherman out for a late night cruise through eel-infested waters"
Congratulations on your daughter's engagement LiteBrite!
And congrats tinkgurl -- that's fantastic!

AN ARMADILLO!!!
Stop it! Stop laughing right now! You’re all thinking “so what- it’s an armadillo!”
Do NOT feel bad about the excitement over an armadillo - my family here was making fun of me a few weeks ago because I was all excited about seeing a possum. Okay, yes I know you see them dead on the side of the road everywhere - but this situation was different. I pulled into the parking lot at the park and was driving around looking for a spot when I saw something weird doing circles at the other end of the lot. I drove right up to it and stopped the car to take a look. It was literally right below my nose, walking blindly in a circle. It was still doing it when I drove off later. So weird! No one else was impressed, but it doesn't take much for me:upsidedow

We are having a blizzard here in my part of the world and my dh has been stuck at an Embassy Suite next to his job as he HAS to be there and can not miss work. He has works for a company that needs to be open 24 hrs/365 days a year. They pay for the room and for his food. Since he has the car and I am not able to go to work or anywhere else for that matter, I have spent the past 2 days catching up on the Dis. I am very thankful that we had our Christmas on Tuesday since he had to work today anyways. My dd who is 4 would not have understood that we had to postpone Christmas.

Having just watched the movie UP (that I was lucky enough to find here in Stink-A-Stan) I am feeling a bit cathartic (Gosh, I just love that word ever since the inception of TK's report some months ago!! :lmao:) I was just thinking that that movie is such a beautiful portrayal of LIFE. Life in the most ordinary, yet miraculous sense. I love the message that life's most amazing adventure is just living it itself- found in the ordinary things. That doing life together with someone you love is nothing short of just peachy!
How about this for "adventure"? Who argues over doing the "tooth fairy thing"? Last night I was elected to put the odd assortment of coins under the pillow in the required repository. Except, this is child #5, you see. So being smarter than your average tooth fairy, I passed the buck to child #2, who promptly dropped the tooth into the bedding after said cash drop. :scared1: So I ended up doing part of that job anyway. So much for trying to get out of that adventure. Ever wonder what the words ARE to that song about getting teeth for Christmas. I didn't either, so here they are (just like you, I have no idea what the tune except for the chorus):
Every body Pauses and stares at me
These two teeth are gone as you can see
I don't know just who to blame for this catastrophe!
But my one wish on Christmas Eve is as plain as it can be!
All I want for Christmas
is my two front teeth,
my two front teeth,
see my two front teeth!
Gee, if I could only
have my two front teeth,
then I could wish you
"Merry Christmas."
It seems so long since I could say,
"Sister Susie sitting on a thistle!"
Gosh oh gee, how happy I'd be,
if I could only whistle (thhhh, thhhh)
Little girlie DD looks great in her brand new Tink costume- I wonder if the real Tink ever lost her tooth on Christmas?!!
Well, that's enough nonsense for now. Here is your next Rations Drop Clue. I'm obviously a very bad judge at how tough these are- or aren't. Let's see what comes of it.
To add ambiance you can see a smoking volcano, but it's not dark inside here.
They serve rice and beans, but they aren't refried. You can order ocean food, but not the kind with flippers. And for your own sake, you might have to get to know your neighbors.

My parents' tooth fairy tradition was for us to leave the tooth in a glass of water in the kitchen, not under the pillow. We've done that too -- much easier!! The hardest part is remembering to do it...'cause I like to wait a while in case the child comes back down for some reason or another.

I find it very ironic that I found a copy of UP the day before Christmas to give to the family. I can neither confirm or deny whether it is an authentic copy- not sure I"d be able to tell the difference anyway. I paid a bunch for it, which makes me think I got the real McCoy- a general rule of thumb over here is, "You get what you pay for".
Anyway, the irony is that 6 months ago I got the news that my beloved grandmother passed away. As I was wrestling with the decision to travel the 36 hours home, my father had a strange episode that looked like it might have been a stroke (since then that was ruled out). So I did travel and spend 3 weeks grieving with my family. It was hard. It was in fact, awful! Not only did my grandmother leave a huge hole in all our lives, it brought about the inevitible junk that comes around concerning "estate".
During that 3 weeks, UP was playing at one of the local drive-in theaters. My sister and her family took me, and as I sat in her pickup, I literally bawled my eyes out. It was all just too close to home, so to speak. Funny that just as my grandfather was dying in the hospital the day after Christmas, I was again watching this movie.
Although, I love this movie- A LOT- it will forever be associated with loss in my family. That is just what I identified most with while watching it- both times. Perhaps it is only coincidence, but I think not.
Another weird thing that happened in the last days was that airline crash in Jamaica. I posted about this, but think most of you missed it. We actually had friends on that plane!!!! I can't believe how lucky they are to be alive! From the articles I read about his injuries, and how they smelled smoke and fuel, I am just thrilled that Andrew, Wendy and the kids are fine!! If you want to Google them, their last name is Palau, which might be a very familiar name to some of you reading this.
Rations Drop is cooking right along, although we had only a few players this time. That was sorta expected, but the show must go on.
Those who answered correctly were: eandesmom, glennbo123, and pipersmom. Rosie, you and Jessica both had great guesses- I think the rice, or maybe the smoking volcano gotcha.
So, you guys can figure out your own points this time. I'll post those next time. I"m too lazy today to go to the official spreadsheet point keeper thingy- which is on the other computer anyway. I think you're a perfect 4/4 though, Cynthia.
You were right, Glenn... the "sake" in the clue WAS referring to sah-kee- Japaese rice, yucky, gross-tasting, sicko, barf-inducing, nasty alcohol drink stuff - and that's how I really feel. ;)
The smoking volcanoes are the cute little jobbies made out of stacked onions, and of course, the beans they serve are edimame- steamed soy beans.( Which may sound like yucky, gross-tasting, sicko, barf-inducing, nasty things to some of you, but I like these little peel and eat tasties.) They don't serve, as far as I know (except on the sushi) fish cooked on the hibachi. Shrimp and scallops, which is SOOOOOOOO what I'm getting!, are the "ocean food" you can get here. By the way, I may order some sushi here as well, but the recent foodie reviews here on the boards haven't been all that great. Hmmm.... what to do, what to do? I really want sushi during my trip, and both places I had planned to get it are getting sucky reviews.
This will be one of our TS credits during our first days of the TC3 Extravaganza. Next clue coming up soon. But first another installment of A Newbie's CluelessTrip.
Some of you might be wanting a little re-cap; we have several new peeps that've joined since Rations Drop Round One.
So far we've got these lined up:
Biergarten
Cantina de San Angel
Caseys
Teppan Edo
Flame Tree
'Ohana
Grand Fl. Tea
Pecos Bills
The Tangierine Cafe in Morocco
Columbia Harbor House
Kona Cafe
Hoop de Doo (although we didn't play this one- we told you we're eating here)
and Crystal Palace (although, we've decided to drop this one)
We have 8 more to go until we're done. Good luck, Contestants; may the best Peep win.

Welcome back, Liesa. I'm hoping that as time goes on watching "Up" will become a time of memories of your grandparents for you without being linked with the grief I know you must have gone through/are going through right now. At any rate, def been keeping you in my thoughts. Looking forward to the next update and clue..the soybeans thing really threw me off on Teppan Edo, but seen enough of the onion volcano pictures in food reviews that I had a pretty good chance at getting it. Your lil Tink is so cute!

Wow you all are eating at a LOT of places. That is so GREAT :cool1: They are very adventurous places too. So :thumbsup2:thumbsup2 to all of you.
Your daughter looks adorable with her missing tooth.
I haven't yet seen UP, the boys got some gift cards for Christmas so they are deciding if they should combine and buy that movie and get a couple smallish things or if they should each just get books for their Tag systems that we got them. I LOVE that they are enjoying reading (even though neither can actually read yet).
Glad your friends are ok, continued prayers for you and all your happenings.
I go back to work today, so I'll try and keep up this time, but if I don't talk to you before next weekend, have a Happy New Year.

I really haven't been on the boards for the last few days... just have really popped in a few times to see if there were any AP rumors for March. I am so sorry to hear about your grandfather. I'm with you in thinking that the UP coincidence isn't really a coincidence. I hope you & your family find comfort in knowing both your grandparents lived long full lives.
I missed the RD this time but will be here for the rest (I hope!):goodvibes

I do too! But I'm a sap! I confessed I cry at the Nemo show, so it may as well be known that I will probably always cry when I watch UP too.

So far they all look like great places!!! and the cool thing is that going with all adults we'll be able to get so much more done in a quicker amount of time, so we'll have more time to hit some fun places to eat!!
UP is so different from any other PIXAR I've ever seen. GREAT in all respects, but such a poignant message. I don't know maybe it's just me and the circumstances I was in both times I saw it. :confused3
Here's a link to an article that talks about our friends from a Portland paper.

I"ve wondered where you've been! I think lots of people are just really busy this week! No, I think not either about UP. Yes, they both lived long lives, but in many respects his especially was so empty- chasing after money, living from one deal to the next. It could have been so much richer if he has spent more time enjoying his family instead of trying to make another million.
We only have 8 more, hope you're there! ;)

Hey Kathy!! Thanks!
It was a bit of a shock. Although he'd had cancer for quite some time, he really went down hill fast!! The Lord is good!
We had a wonderful Christmas. Lots of family time, hot buttered rums, a party at our local fellowship with some hilarious games, all that good stuff.
One of the games was sooooooooooo funny. They told us to put a piece of candy in our mouths, and to "hide it" in our cheek. Then they woudl turn the lights off, and come and "find" it. We were all like, huh? This is sorta stupid. So, we all did it, they turned off the lights, they "felt our cheeks", etc.. They turned on the lights only to discover that the girls had SOOT on their fingers as they were "searching" for our candy. :rotfl2::rotfl2: It was SO funny!!! with everyone's face with big black smudges!! :lmao:

I agree, UP is not a coincidence and I hope as the years pass while it may always be a little bittersweet it is also full of love as you watch it and brings you comfort each time.
I still haven't seen it. They boys saw it at a bday party and movies aren't often in the budget for us. I'd bought it to be for the family from Santa and then got hit with a last minute gift exchange that wasn't supposed to be. So into it, it went. Kendall FOUGHT for it, stealing it more than once and it is now back at our house. We will be watching it new years eve.
And I'm quite sure it is a fluke that I am doing so well at this game when I consider the multitude of places I've not eaten at and don't have a clue. The smoking volcano was a ringer for me.

I'm not so big on the soybeans....which equal a rather gassy chassis for me but those onions are delish! The steak is the best as far as I am concerned and will likely be what I order on our trip having made it onto the list rather soundly as expected. Although I've not tried the scallops, didn't realize that was an option!
Sake. BLEH!
For some reason we have a giant bottle of it. Jeff had it before we were married. It used to be used as a decoration. I should just toss it, it's taking up valuable cupboard space but I keep thinking I'll find a cooking use for it.

Yeah, Nemo- another one with a powerful good message. Our Father- pursuing us and calling us to Himself. I'm all over that!
Me too. Apparently, Andrew smashed his face on the seat in front of him, and has stitches on his face and 2 big black eyes. They ran for it when jumped off the wing, but headed towards the beach. When they saw waves they ran the other way. I can't believe the whole thing didn't explode!!
Wasn't that game a hoot??! I'll have to remember that one; it's perfect for a girls' party or retreat!

Well, I"m not sure we officially announced that. I think the only reason we were going to hit it up was for the early entry, but an AM EMH oughtta take care of that. I'm not so into the character thing, so on our long list of places, it was the easiest to throw out.

Oh, that really is a short break!! My son gets 2 1/2 weeks, and wont' go back until the 12th. They get a long-ish winter break because a fair amount of the students are from S. Africa and when they go home they want a long "summer break" which is winter break for us. Sorry, that's probably not making much sense, but they are in the southern hemisphere; so they want to spend their winter holiday at the beach doing summer stuff. So, the school's "summer break" is quite a bit shorter and the winter one longer, so that things get evened out for all the countries represented.

Actually they get a month break, but with Markie being an athlete he has to be back for practice at 10:00 a.m. on New Year's Eve. We got 12 inches of snow over the weekend and more is predicted for Wednesday so he is going back a day early.

ROTC? I didn't know that was on the table....
It is. It is perfect for him in every way. He likes structure and routine, needs direction, and would be great since he's more comfortable overseas than home. Although, that could change once he gets a taste of school.
I am still in trouble for only making one at Christmas. Better make another tomorrow! If they stay as well behaved as they've been. AMAZING what receiving a pile of loot can do, frightening really.
Dfinitely! Need more of those.
It is frightening... and seems to wear off quickly. Let's see what next month (or next week for that matter) brings.
Oh my goodness...are you overcompensating for not making them difficult enough?
Or just trying to break my streak?

Mulling. Commencing. Hmmn.
:confused3
Most definitely. ;)
Allright, total stab in the dark here.
I am TORN between Earl of Sandwich and WPE. Both seem to meet the clue, armflab notwithstanding. You guys seem like a EOS crowd but "technically" the WPE menu is longer, and you seem to think your armflab is too.... soo....my vote is
Wolfgang Puck Express
I'm most likely WAY off!
Very, very interesting...
Hi Leisa..just wanted to say hi and sorry I've been MIA lately..I'm SICK!
Hi TG!
I hope whatever it is isn't too bad!! Take care of yourself, eat lots of chicken soup, take hot baths, snuggle up in bed, and come back when you can!! I did miss you! ;)

Okay, I think it's ---> Wolfgang Puck's (I assume the cafe, I don't know which is table service..LOL. Makes sense with Ghiaradelli around the corner and the clue..and it being your first day.) <------
I never thought about i-tunes and places like that could just ban certain countries from using the service, though I guess it makes sense.

I was going to say Wolfgang puck's but they aren't on my dining plan and you said you are using credits so I'm going to say earl of sandwich because that is on our list of places to eat, the menu looks yummo

nice analogy! :rotfl:
i'm gonna say wolfgang puck express. i remember their menu being pretty lengthy and i know that ghirardelli is nearby. i was gonna say EoS but i don't remember the menu being that extensive.

I don't think you'll find any bad canines here, nor any hockey sticks. However, you might find the TC3 there trying to figure out how to spend their very first dining credit. The menu is as extensive as my arm flab, and it's not very far away from temptation of every chocolate kind.

The day was finally here! The day we’d all been waiting for – entry to Magical Kingdoms and beyond!
We had agreed the night before that my mom and dad would take Mike to the airport; that way the kids and I could get an early start in the park. Single mom-ming it with 4 kids including a stroller wasn’t easy, as I recall. Only one of them was tall enough for any of the "big rides”, so we settled for things we could all go on. I love this about Disney- there are no bad rides. I love them all, and I can tell you we had a great time on just about everything.
But I only have a couple of things that surfaced in full enough strength from the memory data banks to really expound upon. One is that we ate at Columbia Harbor House. I had fish and chips and they were great! This will forever be my favorite counter service place at the MK (Casey’s being a VERY close 2nd) It’s kind of like that nostalgic memory of that first kiss under the Jr. High bleachers. Sorta.
Where was I? Oh yes. Memories from MK. First off, the layout whacked me out. I kept getting to BTMRR and getting thwarted by a misplaced dead end. What is WITH that?! The fact that there was no New Orleans Square was most discombobulating, as well. It just wasn’t DLR that I had practically grown up in, and I was veritably confusticated!
The other thing that I managed to dredge up was the first time I let my kids onto an attraction- ALONE…
Despite being disoriented half the time, we had a great day, and evening wore on. Little Peanut had fallen asleep, but there were still hours before the park closed. What to do? What to do? Duh! Ride rides until they called Orange County Sheriff to kick us out. The kids really wanted to go on HM again, so we ambled over that way. I remember the park was pretty empty, and there was hardly any line- maybe even none at all. So I sent them on their merry way while I sat with Peanut at the exit. They had STRICT instruction to stay together and all that, and really I wasn’t too worried. 5minutes, 10 minutes, hmm….. 15 minutes. Um OK, 16 minutes- Phew! OK, good. Crisis averted. They didn’t have to call OC Sheriff after all, at least not to rescue my kids from 999 Happy Haunts. The National Guard was not summoned, and the FBI got a break that day. No really! It wasn’t that bad. They loved it, and asked to go on again. So I let them.
I don’t think my parents ever did show up that day. I don’t remember. I don’t care. But I do remember that we also visited Tom Sawyer’s Island too that day. TSI is way different in Florida, but I can’t exactly recall how. I just remember it was different. Is there a rope bridge? I think we played on a rope bridge.
After a super long day, we boarded a cute little boat with a merry little horn, and sleepily, but happily, made our way back to the Fort. It was cold. And about to get colder….

It still discombobulates me! TSI is way different but other than no lunch CS at Aunt Polly's I can't put my finger on it either.

I can almost see that about Pinocchio. Dreams coming true, being a parent, a REAL boy. Yes, I"ve had 2 little ones see Heaven before me, so I do "get it". I don't think being reminded is always such a bad thing; brings hope for a future :)
Veritably confusticated - that's fantastic! :lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:
Love the update.
THANKS!! I can't remember where I first learned that word! Maybe I made it up; love that one!

All of you are too big for your britches- metaphorically and figuratively speaking of course. I would never call any of you fat, mainly because I've never seen or met ANY of you. :lmao:
I so thought that my clue was a really clever one, but alas, you almost all of you got it!! Hooray for you- collectively.
The answer, indeed, was Wolfgang Puck Express. The last 2 times I was at DTD I ate at Earl, and I'm just feeling that, as much as I love EoS, I need to expand my horizons.
--Bad Canines= Wolf Gang
--Hockey Sticks= Puck(s)
--Near Choco Havens= Ghiradelli (although many of you thought I was talking about Goofy's)
--Long, Extensive Menu= Long Extensive Menu
The plan right now is to check in, then almost immediately hit DTD via cute little boat. Therefore, I imagine we'll use our first dining credits here.
Now, here's my question: Who's eaten there? What did you eat? Did you like it?? and BIG ?? What can we split?? We are hoping to split a few things so we can get some extra CS meals at places yet to be revealed.
Points, once again, will have to wait. My time secretly DISsing is very limited.

I've heard mostly good things about this place. IF it stays on the DDP, it one of the best values on the plan.
It's on my list for the upcoming trip. So you'll know what I think in roughly 7-8 weeks...

I've heard many a glowing review. I am dubious, my WPE experience being limited to many an airport BUT I do trust, implicitly, the source of said glowing reviews. I will say this, the menu is at least triple the arm flab of the one at any airport wPE I've attempted to dine at. Most often O'hare mind you but LAX is in the mix as well.

See... I didn't even know it was a chain. So you're like a billion up on me. I'm looking at the flatbreads and hoping they are big enough to split. Anyone know??

Hey Liesa, it wasn't on my quick service dining plan but I just checked the regular dining plan and it's there. Here is a link to the brochure so you can print it out and check to see which restaurants made the cut for 2010. Happy planning, can't wait for the next clue.

Thanks for the link!!! I was going to take a peeky poo this weekend to check out which ones made the cut for our trip. I think most should be on it. The ones that aren't on it, or that we'll be doing OOP will hopefully be taken care of by maroo's TIW card.

Yeah, you got me with these clues....I couldn't get Goofy's Candy Company out of my head, but knew that couldn't be the answer.
I've never eaten at Wolfgang Puck's either, but every review I've seen has been good.

I've never eaten at Wolfgang Puck, although I've heard such good things about it. This past trip was my first trip eating at Earl, and I still keep thinking about the great sandwich I had.

Tough enough for ya? :cool1:
You know, it 's funny! Everyone I seem to follow has eaten at EoS, but not WGPE. :confused3 I need to hit the Dining Reviews Board more often... but it's so hard when I'm having so much fun here. :lmao:

I have too, but need to see more specific reviews :)
I agree, those sandwiches are soooooooooooo tasty. That one with bleu cheese- that one right there is a true zinger!
