Any news on when an updated version of DVC Tracker (by Caskbill) to include the new DVC resorts might be available? Current version I'm using is 2.0 and it tells me there are no updates available.

I received an email from Caskbill today (he's at the World) in response to a recommendation I had made. He has had some technical difficulties so he is hoping for an update by the he end of June now.
Have a great stay, Caskbill!!

DVC-Tracker is a program to track your DVC Points usage. You can find it here: Caskbill.com (http://Caskbill.com)

Just to let you all know, Caskbill not only provides those downloadable programs for DVC Members, he also writes the programs that maintain the DVC Rent/Trade Board and the Resort Reservation Availability Board. All on his own time.

Many, many DVC owners rely on Caskbill's creations to make planning potential trips to Disney possible. I am working on a trip in 2010 involving 3 rooms and moving midway thru the trip from BWV to VB. With Caskbill's Planner it is simple, without it I am having to spend ALOT more time checking and rechecking. Thank you, Caskbill, for all your hard work. Looking forward to June!!

I spent a little time last Friday with Caskbill at OKW and he is still working on the upgrade to the Tracker and the Planner. There are a number of things he wants to modify and all take time to accomplish - especially with his other responsibilities (he has contracts to do some programming for local businesses as well as his efforts here on the DIS which include the Tech Board, the DVC Boards and he also has written the rather complex programs that automate and track everything on the DVC Rent/Trade Board).
He said he may release an interim program update with the 2010 point charts (also a rather complex operation due to the different DVC "seasons" for GCV in addition to the variation in points for all of the current DVC resorts) and then he'd like to provide a means to upgrade the point charts in the future in the event that DVC decides to reallocate points again. He is also aware that more changes will be needed once Ko Olina comes on board in 2011. All of those changes will take some time and a lot of effort to integrate them into the existing program and then Beta-test everything before releasing the upgrades for free public consumption.
In the meantime, be sure to download and use the DVC Chart program available on his site - that will provide some easy access to point charts while he completes the other changes. He will be away from home thru the end of June and hopes to devote the needed time/energy to the other updates at that time.
Stay Tuned - I know the changes will be well worth the wait! :teeth:

This post saddens me. I can't believe anyone would attack Caskbill!!! There is no nicer man in all of DVC/DIS history, and he does so much on his own time!! I think we should all be giving Bill a hat's off cheer!!!:cheer2:

Agree 100%. Any and all work that Caskbill puts into his programs is greatly appreciated. The fact that someone was critical of him saddens me also.

Caskbill's programs are the greatest! I use all of them, and I can't imagine trying to plan vacations, or keep track of point usage without them.
Thank you Caskbill!!!!

That is just horrible.:sad2:
I have used Caskbill's tracker and love it. A BIG THANK YOU to him for all his time and effort that he puts into his programs. Most of us are VERY appreciative.
I've been looking forward to his updated tracker as I doubt we're ever getting planners from DVC this year!!!

I actually wish the mods had left the attack up. That way, we'd know who the attacker was and be able to respond accordingly. pirate:
Like the others above, I can't imagine planning a vacation without Bill's programs and I really appreciate all of his hard work. I also realize it's a LOT more work than most of us can imagine to develop and maintain software like this. The IT wizards probably understand, but I'm sure most of us don't.
Thanks Bill!

yea, some of us caught it in time and they wiped it. (which I totally understand).
Nothing but flames would have resulted from hammering said person. I'm glad this thread turned into attaboys for Bill. He does a nice job! :thumbsup2

The 'attack' violated regular DISboard posting guidelines and had to be removed by policy. A similar posting against any other DISboard member would be treated the same way.
I don't mind constructive criticism and welcome suggestions on how to improve any of my programs. But the post that was removed was just name calling. And was not even factually accurate in one claim, stating that DVC-Tracker could not be used to record any 2010 reservations. With the exception of BLT, this is not true. While the program currently would use the old point charts to calculate 2010 points, the user can simply overwrite the 'calculated default' value with the new 2010 values, and record the reservation as usual. This is even explained on the web page.
Anyone can get 2010 values by a number of means, including downloading my DVC-Chart program, which has been updated for 2010.
Thanks to all of you who have posted very nice comments. They are appreciated.
To change the topic a little, I will be needing some users to basically 'beta' the new release before regular release. A beta is simply to look for bugs or errors in the program so they can be fixed. If you are interested in being a beta tester, sometime in June, please send me a PM and I'll start a list. Requirements are that you are familiar with Window's file structure, know how to navigate the files, know how to manually backup files, and are familiar with the current version of DVC-Tracker. You will be making a backup copy of your current data before downloading the beta. After completing testing you will restore your backup copy and continue as usual.
Thanks
Caskbill

I'm in with that! Thanks Caskbill, not only for the work that you do, but for remembering there are lots of folks out here that appreciate your work by reflecting it in your attitude here and in other threads since the incident.
Keep leading the way - we need it! :cheer2:
It wasn't that long ago that I participated in some sort of a survey of the DVC member website. When it came time to rate the tools they provided, I made sure to point them to CaskBill's site for an example of how much better they could be. Personally I think they could learn a thing or two from Bill.
