Hey all!

We just hit the 100 day mark :banana::banana::banana: so time to start a pre-trip report.

The crew:
Me (college instructor/volleyball coach) http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y101/declansdad/DisneyWorld%202007/Travel%20and%20Day%201%20at%20MK/38.jpg

dw - pooksma (sorry I'm not allowed to post pictures, it's like a hidden MeMom thing)

ds - Declan (8)
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y101/declansdad/Halifax/Bubble1.jpg
and a family of newbies - MomNewbie, DadNewbie, and two little Princesses.

It seems we are one person short of a Grand Gathering.

For those of you who don't know us, I should explain the title. This will be our 5th trip to WDW for pooksma and me but only the fourth ds (Declan). You see last year we were bad parents and went without him :). We hadn't really been away without him so we thought it was time for a mom and dad trip only. To this day, he doesn't know we went. We told him we were going to New England while he was at camp. It wasn't a total lie; we did drive to Bangor and fly from there. :rotfl2:

This year's edition will take place between August 9th to 18th and we will be staying at POFQ. We have never stayed there before and are looking forward to a new resort. Pop is still my favourite but you need to try as many resorts as possible. We were suppose to stay there last summer but switched to CBR when a new deal was released.

We will also be traveling with another family for the first time. They are newbies and have left many of the decisions to us. No pressure! They have two young daughters who are huge fans of the Princesses. They are going to have a blast!

It is going to be a busy summer. Pooksma and the mother of our newbie family are attending a conference in Memphis in mid July (some kind of teacher thing). Declan will be attending a couple of camps, and I have coaching duties all summer with our Canada Games team. Our WDW trip comes right in the middle for me but it will be a nice break.

We are just waiting for the August hours to be released to set our ADRs; hopefully, that will be done later today.

Stay tuned for more.

I know I got beat by a few others, my own daughter included, but at least I think I made page one! :cool1:

I'm so glad we can talk about this trip out loud, since there's not a secret involved!

Ma's too cute to hide, so she has to come on out and be seen.

Can't wait to hear all about your plans, follow along on the wait, and then enjoy it all with you when the new school year starts!

Morning all.

I hope everyone is getting ready for a great weekend. It is kind of damp here but the sun dos peek out every now and again.

We're still waiting for Disney to post their August hours. What is wrong with them? Don't they know we have some serious decisions to make. Our ADR restaurants look like this:

Ohanas - breakfast the first morning

Whispering Canyon - dinner, the kids will have a blast and I can see another one of those skillets in my future.

Coral Reef - supper, it is always fun to watch all those fish swim by. No mahi mahi this time tough.

Le Cellier - lunch, we always have to go home for an hour or two.

Crystal Palace - breakfast, hopefully before the park opens. You can get some great pictures without all "those" people getting in the way. ;)

Chef Mickey's - Dinner, a fun character dinner and a prety good buffet to boot.

Rose and Crown - a Declan pick, the boy loves his fish and chips.

Hollywood & Vine - Fantasmic Package we hope.

For our last two, we are trying to decide between Beaches and Cream, Tusker House, or 1900 Park Fair.

Our newbie friends will most likely be doing the Princess Breakfast at Askerhus.

Now we just need those hours!!!!

Later all.

Awww, I could have won the car because I live in Canada...but I guess I am too late and missed out....page 2...:sad1:

Just my luck for joining in late.:lmao:

I didn't know you were going to WDW so close to us.
My original plans would have put me there the same time as you.
We could have had a DIS meet at "our home" LeCellier.

I can sympathize with you, I am also waiting for the August hours.
I got up this morning and thought for sure they would be there, no such luck.
I need to make my ADR plans too and they are not helping.
Come on Disney....:wizard:

Your ADR's look great! I hope you get them. :goodvibes

It should be fun going with newbie's, you will be a great help to them I'm sure.

I look forward to some fantastic pics!

I can't wait for Pooksma's pre-trip shopping and packing pics.

Your ADRs look really good. The Ohana breakfast has me dreaming...I love me some breakfast, and I love me some Ohana (despite my Great Ohana Debacle back in November 2008, but we just won't talk about that!).

I've heard excellent reviews of it's breakfast...:cloud9:

Have you ever been to Beaches & Cream? As you might recall from my TR-we give it two thumbs up!

I love the movie poster of your DS, it's adorable!

Those were taken just before his third birthday. The funny things was that he had just had a major melt down before we went into the restaurant. As soon as he saw the characters, the tears went away and an amazing smile came over his face.

The Crystal Palace pictures are precious!
We had great character interaction there last year, and it's our first meal for the summer trip, too.

It has been fun to watch Declan grow through your pictures.
I wonder how it will be on the next trip - what things he'll now deem too babyish or what exciting things he'll get hooked on and want to repeat over and over.

We'll see if he can beat each of you once at Toy Story!
I bet he'll like that ride a lot.

A few weeks ago the newbie mom and I did a little shopping at disneyshopping.com. Since they have cut the shipping to Canada price, it was pretty reasonable. (She bought WAY more than me~newbie :lmao:)

We decided to share our new tees with all of you:

For Declan who has recently become enviro conscious...the Disney Earth Day shirt:

For Mom, a splashy new orange...

What were your contributions to this nice meal? I may have to get some recipes from you!

What movie did you guys go see afterward? Have you see Earth? Has UP! started yet? I didn't pay much attention to the preview, since I know I wouldn't be going to see it.

Ma, I hope you enjoyed a nice day with extended family and your two favorite guys. You are lucky to have a handsome, healthy son and a husband who is crazy about you. And you are even luckier that they both are so smart to love Disney World! Not that they wouldn't be great without that trait, because I know they would, but it does up their value a bit since they do!

The shirts are great. Jill and I have the green bags with the Mickey and Earth picture.

I looked after the bacon, ham, eggs, cut up some peppers for the quiche, made some coffee, opened the champagne for the memosas, and helped with the cleanup.

This afternoon, we took in the new X-men movie. Declan wanted to see it as he has watched the first two, and pooksma wanted to see Hugh Jackman. We haven't been to Earth yet and UP hasn't started yet.

Once again she came through for us. We managed to get all the restaurants we wanted, at or near the times requested.

The only request that we didn't get was the Fantasmic package. We are still at Hollywood & Vine but the package was sold out. They do go fast, yesterday was our 90 day mark.

We also dropped Tusker House and moved the Rose and Crown to evening of the 12th. Maybe we will get a patio table and be able to watch Illuminations from there. it should be noted that Liz was able to make this change within 1 hour or our request last night (around 10 pm). I don't think she ever sleeps.

I've been checking on a thread over on the Theme Parks board about what a mess Fantasmic is. We got the H&V dinner package, but I hope it works out. They're saying the wait is still pretty long and you now go in the normal entrance, so I'm not sure there is going to be a big advantage. We'll want to see it once, if possible, so I hope it works out okay. If we see that it's going to be too crazy, we'll just change our Four Parks plan and do something less exciting and crowded for the Hollywood Studios part.

Hey, I never sleep either! Maybe I can become a travel agent! :)

You'd be an awesome DISNEY agent MeMom. (course you might try to book everyone into POP...)

My Brunch was great. A wonderful time with family and friends. The next two days I have my Drama group at the provincial (state for my AMerican friends) festival. We are competing against 22 other plays. Keep your fingers crossed. We performed this morning (the kids did an awesome job) and awards are tomorrow afternoon.

Love the shirts too. I've been avoiding disneyshopping.com. I know it will suck me in and now that I've entered planning mode for December I just have an excuse!

The pics of your DS with Tigger & Pooh are ADORABLE. I am very tempted to book this just for similar pics...

We love the Ohana breakfast-the pineapple bread and "Stitch Juice" are big favs with DS.

We are actually considering B&C for a meal. Is it better to go for early supper (5ish) or late lunch (1:30) do you think?

I have no idea what time is better...! Sorry! We did a late dinner and had to wait for about 45 minutes. It's right next to the arcade, so lots of blinkly lights to entertain a 1 year old. ;)

I've heard if you go right when it opens it is generally the best time...but I would also think a late lunch would work well since many people are back in their rooms napping.

We're doing Hollywood and Vine Fantasmic package, too. We figured that might be the only way to get in the way that thing is working these days. I'll fill you in on how it goes.

If we could have booked a little later and you guys a little sooner, we could have done this together...finally.

Do you think you'll ever do a holiday trip, like Christmas or Thanksgiving?

You could always book a NYE trip and come to the meet-up at the Poly to watch fireworks rock 2010 in.

Brook - were you reading along when we did the summer report? We started off at Crystal Palace, so there are pictures of characters and food there, if you care to go back and look it up. It was our first meal on our first day, right after the afternoon parade, so that should help you find it. There's a picture of Tigger wearing the shades he stole from me!

I'll get a bunch more this summer - hopefully some more of the building and interior design. That's really a beautiful place all around.

Ma and Dad, I know chances are slim, but it would be awesome if you could join us at the Poly on NYE! I'm not sure what our trip schedule looks like next year. We're thinking about Mother's Day, summer, and then something in either October, November, or December. Have you ever been in October? Even if you're not a Halloween person, and I'm really not, Disney World is beautiful all dressed in orange, and MNSSHP is incredible! You'd love the Boo to You parade - just so cool! Thanksgiving is nice, too. The weather is good, but you guys are spoiled to off-times, and it would probably seem crowded. Christmas :santa: is good, too.

Heck, who am I kidding? It's all good at Disney World! :thumbsup2

http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y101/declansdad/DisneyWorld%202009/Pre%20Trip/P5300018.jpg

and thought a short update about nothing would be fun to write so here it goes.

ADRs are now complete. We will be dining together each day except Friday. The Spragues will be going to Askerhuis for breakfast with the Princesses and we will be at 1900 Park Fare.
I am grateful that my boys have finally agreed to let Mom have her breakfast with one of her two fav characters~ Mary Poppins.

A few updates re the trip: We now have car/van service booked. Being one short of a Grand Gathering this trip, we had to move to the next level of transport. I didn’t realize how much space 7 and their luggage needed! As Dad says, we are planning to do laundry once during our 10-day voyage, but DS will need at least 6 t-shirts to get him through the first 3 days alone!

Last weekend we purchased DS’ new crocs. He chose the colour, maybe he's been secretly DISing: (I think we’ll need to pick up a few more Disney Jibbitz to add to them)

Year end will quickly be upon us at this end of the Great White North. Paperwork, paperwork paperwork! :teacher: We have a few activities planned for our students for the last two weeks: Field Days, trip to local activity camp, awards ceremony, etc. Only 15 school days left!:cool1::banana:

Moving into plan mode for my trip to Memphis in July. Preparing our presentation, taking many stills and interviewing kids to share their thoughts. But soon, oh soon, we’ll be seeing...

You better hope he hasn't been Dising or else he might find out that the big you-know-who's went you-know-where without the little you-know-who!! :scared1:

But I'll never tell. :cool2:

Your Tink cup is cute. Meal time is so much more fun when you have little friends on your dinnerware. :goodvibes

I think we have decided to change our plans for the Four Parks day. We're not going to do the dinner package after all. After reading a lot of posts where people were saying there is no real advantage to it any more, we switched our agenda a little. We're going to see it on another night, but we'll just get counter service and go over and get in line with the masses. A lot of people are saying that even with the package, you're still having to get in the regular line at an hour to an hour and a half out, so I don't see the point of getting the package and paying extra.

Are your friends showing any growing excitement about the trip?

P.S. Do you want us to be on the lookout for any particular Jibbitz? We'd be glad to send you some, if we see them.

Need some help with this idea...
I want to do an autograph book for DS that has a picture insert on one side and a place for the character to sign on the other. I'm not sure if this makes sense but if it does, can anyone offer suggestions? I think I may have to make something myself and from the most non-crafty person ever, this is a major deal!

Coming up this weekend...Jibbitz, a pool (?), soccer jamboree and UP.

The ones MeMom pictured have a slot for a photo and a spot for the signature. I've known several people who have found small photo albums at Walmart or the Dollar Tree that have Disney characters on them and then they just take colorful index cards or paper cut to fit the slots for the characters to sign. Then when they get home they just put the pic in one side and the paper in the other.

The truck has been great. It makes it much easier to get some things and I haven't had to haul anything for anyone yet. Although, i was away all last Saturday so that may have something to do with it.

The dollar seems to have leveled off around the 90 cent range. IT would be nice if it took a big jump for a few days so we could pay off the last part of the trip.

I think that qualifies as amazing!

My kitty goes nuts over insects, too. If we have the door open for too long (Drew!) and something flies in, he is entertained for a while as he chases it to its demise. Poor innocent little fly/moth/whatever. :sad2:

Actually, now that I think about it, I have a secret, too.
Well, Jill and I have a secret.
It will be revealed next weekend, I think.

Since I know so many of you (ok all 2 or 3 of you) have been waiting and waiting, I will hold you in suspense no longer.

Please remember that this is a SECRET and if you see us or our handsome DS, you know NOTHING about NOTHING.;);)

I got really lazy and decided to take a virtual trip to the Disney Store online last week. After the whole autograph book discussion and some great suggestions, I knew that time and craftiness are not on my side  so I made a purchase...then another...then a "wow BOGO" ...and finally a "it's onsale and I want it" one. :yay::yay:So here are the fruits of my hard :rolleyes1 labour:

WARNING THIS IS A SECRET: THESE ARE DS' :tinker: GIFTS:tiptoe::ssst:

I shared my purchases with the NM (newbie Mom). Tink will be spreading joy to her girls as well. She also picked up some great Canada temp tattoos and pins for our trip. The kids will love them!

This week: School is D-O-N-E and will the dollar go up a bit so we can make the final payment????

The WALL-E jammies are cute. I like the flip flops, too, only I have to wear the slider kind of flip flops, as I can't stand the between the toe things. I hate that about myself, though, because there are so many cute Disney flip flops.

I'm glad you got your autograph book. Hopefully that one will do the trick!

How very exciting!

Especially when it's Disney Shopping and Disney secrets!

On a side note my DS10 had a surfing mickey button down shirt and matching shorts that had mickey's toes on it too. He was like 18 months when he wore it but it had mickey wearing flip flops holding a surf board and he had toes in that picture too. So maybe it's just a beach thing?

Declan thanks you. We were lucky on that trip, he was picked for many things like teh inventor of the year.

His little sandaled feet sticking out of the bottom of the lab coat - too cute!

Jill gave you a shopping picture this morning, so it's your turn to give us a shopping picture. ;)

Or any picture will be fine. :)

What's your countdown saying these days?

Shopping pics???? Those are quite rare in our trip photos. (I'm sure you can all guess why...:confused3)

I did find this one, not taken to show merchandise but:

And as a possible preview for the Pirate makeover, this pic is from this weekend. My BIL hosted the Sunday School year end party and they had face painting. DS picked:

He picked smokey-eyed Jack. At least that's what he's saying now. The more I read about this, the more I like it. I'm wondering about the sword though. Does every child get one and will we be able to bring it home on the plane??

Memphis trip is 15 days away...and we haven't started our presentation yet as newbie mom is on vacation with her husband's family. Hmmm...hopefully the able-to-turn-on-a-dime factor of being middle school :teacher: will kick in at some point. Off to buy luggage tags and a new travel bag today:woohoo:

So I realised this morning that I hadn't posted any pics from my shopping expeditions over the last few weeks. Decided that this morning while DS is still asleep would be a good time to upload and share.

First up are the new footwear, Teva mush for Mom (my first, and not my last, pair) and new Nikes for DS.

http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y101/declansdad/DisneyWorld%202009/Pre%20Trip/Picture003.jpg

http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y101/declansdad/DisneyWorld%202009/Pre%20Trip/Picture002.jpg

I have been wearing the mushies around all week and walking in them is as comfortable as my Nikes. DS is breaking his in today.

Next up: An airport bag. Some clarification is required here. I am one of those people who absolutely HATES to carry a purse.:headache: especially in the airport. With my upcoming Memphis trip, I wanted something that I could wear around that would hold my wallet (and passport during travel) but that wasn't going to be a pain in the patootie. This is what I found (came as a recommendation from newbie mom~she knows me so well:hug:)

http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y101/declansdad/DisneyWorld%202009/Pre%20Trip/Picture001.jpg

Finally, we picked up these tags to help us identify our bags. We have red and black luggage so we needed something we would spot right away.

DS' s tag:

Mom's:

http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y101/declansdad/DisneyWorld%202009/Pre%20Trip/Picture004.jpg

Now for those of you who have noticed a distinct lack of purchases for Dad, allow me to explain. As readers and subscribers to MeMom's threads will know, Dad is not a big fan of shopping. I don't like to pick out stuff for him that he then hates so  We solve this problem by letting Dad do his own shopping. He will wait until the night before we leave to go to Dick's and pick up 1 or two pairs of shorts and that will be it.

He did buy himself some new socks though.:rotfl: Now if only I could get him to buy some new underwear:lmao:

My Dh is the same way about shopping. My boys aren't much better. Luckily my daughter is a great shopping companion. And for some reason when my daughter picks out something for her daddy he's always grateful and happy about it. So that's how I get around his shopping phobia. I always tell him his daughter picked it out for him. Even if she didn't. Shh don't tell!

Love that pic of the Hippy Dippy Pool....Jasmine and I stayed there in 2006 and we loved it, took me right back when I saw the pic:thumbsup2

So happy to hear you are finally getting some sun....we are originally from New Brunswick (we were born there when my dad was stationed in Oromocto) and some dear friends have said you've had a lousy summer:sad1: Another excellent reason to go to Florida:banana: Ours hasn't been the greatest either....3 days last week were 15 degrees, not happy:mad:

Pretty soon you'll be in the teens and then single digit dance time....:cheer2:(that's from Jas, she asked me to put a little something from her and since she's a cheerleader, I thought that appropriate):dance3:

I think it is at the Homey I Shrunk the Kids play area in Disney Studios.

I must have missed it last time! Henry will love this. Thanks for the tip! :goodvibes

Your trip is getting so close!!! I love when the Mickey Mail comes. :cloud9:

We even went shopping and I added two pairs of shorts to my trip clothing list.

Oh, great picture!! I so wish we were there right now!!

Morning all,

We are one day closer and we finally woke up to a sunny day. It's been a long time. We all had a great time at the wedding last night. It was very casual and the actual ceremony took place at an outdoor chapel in the woods. It was very cool, well except for the mosquitos.

Here is a picture of Declan with hs favourite uncle, pooksma's brother.

Sounds like a great wedding. I love it when they are relaxed and everyone just enjoys themselves and has fun.

Great picture too. :)

Love the pool picture. I can not wait to see it in person. That is where we are staying on our trip. You have been busy shopping while pooksma is away. :rotfl:

Well, pooksma is close to Memphis by now and Declan and I are still alive. :rotfl2: We even went shopping and I added two pairs of shorts to my trip clothing list.

We have a family wedding this evening. Pooksma feels bad because it is her cousin but can't make it today. We did have an excellent family gathering last night to celebrate the wedding.

We are getting close and more excited everyday. To honour our upcoming trip and our southern friends who are only a week away, I give you this lovely picture.

That is a great pool. We have used that pool and the bowling pin pool but not the computer pool. The main pool is very big so it can hold many people.

All of you need to stop believing everything pooksma tells you about my shopping. I just have a different style. :rotfl2:

And once again I will be jealous of all your trips. ;) Hope you all have a great trip.

Just had a second to check in and wondered how Ma's Memphis trip is going. What has she seen so far? Did she do the river cruise?

Thanks again for that Pop pool picture. It makes it very easy for me to picture us being there in just a few days. :)

:banana::banana:Hey all!
This is the first real down time I have had and from what I am reading that may be a good thing. Apparently the pod people went into my home and took away my DH and replaced him with some shopping maniac!:lmao:

Have a great time here in Memphis~riverboat cruise was great, visited the National Civil Rights Museum (cannot explain how moved I was) and of course Beale Street.

Pics to come when I get home. :woohoo:
