After much indecision and angst, I have decided to do a live food report when we go to WDW the first weekend of June. I wasn't originally going to do a live report, but after buying my own laptop and I have a brand-new camera for this trip, I decided...why not? I think it might be fun and since we are going with 2 other people and paying out of pocket, it will be so very different than the last set of reviews I did.

So far, here are the places we are going to eat.

Thursday

Lunch - Biergarten - We are so excited about this one. I have cancelled this ADR 3 separate times on the last 3 trips, and nothing is stopping me from trying this restaurant out on this trip. I love German food!

Dinner - Wolfgang Puck Cafe - This was a compromise for me. One of the people I am going with really wanted some sushi and we had to go back to the resort to collect someone else who was coming in on a later flight, so DTD it was.

Friday

Lunch - Sci-Fi - I am still apprehensive about this ADR. Sci-Fi is not one of my favorite places, but at the specific request from one of my friends...I caved and made the ADR. Worse comes to worse I can have the salad and be okay with a rice krispie treat to hold me over to dinner. But...who knows until I get there?

Dinner - Tony's Town Square - We are going to try to eat on the patio, depending on when SpectroMagic runs. I love this place!

Saturday

Lunch - Yak and Yeti - I have been wanting to try this place since it opened with no luck from anyone else. Those green beans everyone keeps showing pictures of look amazing!! I can't wait to try some of those.

Dinner - Turf Club - This is a repeat for us. It is good, but not my favorite place, but since we are staying at SSR and spending the afternoon at the resort, it made sense. And how can you go wrong with steak?

Sunday

Lunch - The Plaza - Another one of those I can't believe I haven't eaten here yet places. I am a reuben fan, and I hope I get one here, but with my food moods...who knows?

So there you have it...my line up for June. I know this is early, but if anyone has any suggestions about what might be good to eat at any of the above places...please do tell. I am game for anything this trip.

Since I am a very brave eater, I am going to only eat what everyone on the board recommends for me to eat at each of the restaurants in my list. This way, I will have something I have never had before and it makes things a bit more interesting on my end.

Also, if it happens to be something you have always wanted to try, but never have, I will take those suggestions as well. Let me be the guinea pig!

So...let me have it everyone. I need recommendations on what to eat.

All the sushi we had at WPC was wonderful ... we had hamachi, salmon, and tuna nigiri. We also had a California roll and the chef's special which was something like an inside-out California roll.

So good ... so flavorful ... so much better than anything here in landlocked Stinktown. :lmao:

I hope you enjoy it ... be sure to try some Wildberry Lemonade while you're there!

I can't wait! I've enjoyed your other reviews, looking forward to this one.... well....kind of, lol. DH and I were talking about taking a mini-vaca for about 4-5 days the first week of June and of course I said WDW! He decided he didn't like the crowd levels and wants to go somewhere else (Williamsburg, VA probably).

I'm still trying to convince him. At least if I don't get to go, I can live vicariously through you and pretend I'm there!

I had to add, I find myself constantly saying your tag to people. DH loves Disney, but thinks I'm nuts with all the trips I'm planning for the next year. Most of our family thinks I'm nuts too, lol. I'm so glad there is a forum full of people as obsessed as me!

burgers and alcoholic milkshakes at sci-fi are very good ... honestly I don't know why sci-fi tries to be anything more than a burger / sandwich joint. With the setting that they have the menu should mimic that of a 1950's car-hop place ... if they just focused on doing that really well rather than trying to be all things to all guests I think they would be far more successful.

Try the martias martian milkshake ... baileys & kahlua mixed with vanilla and chocolate shake. :thumbsup2

I am definitely down for ribs...I have seen pics of those and they look amazing!

I'm in. Tell me all about the sushi at WPC. :goodvibes

Sushi...ah yes...I will definitely have some help in that arena as me and my friend pretty much eat any kind of nigiri.

All the sushi we had at WPC was wonderful ... we had hamachi, salmon, and tuna nigiri. We also had a California roll and the chef's special which was something like an inside-out California roll.

So good ... so flavorful ... so much better than anything here in landlocked Stinktown. :lmao:

LOL...Since I come from a landlocked area growing up, I completely understand. Thank god I came to my senses and moved to a city a few miles away from the water. Makes all of the difference in the world when it comes to sushi. And if you say to try the lemonade....I am trying the lemonade.

LOL...it IS funny isn't it? We are all nuts for being grown adults and being so obsessed...they should make adult-land for us weirdos since they did away with PI. Sorry you don't get to go. I am lucky with J...she loves Disney and she loves to make sure I am happy. Maybe one day he will come around. You can always hope, right?

I can recommend the burger at Sci-Fi and the club sandwich at The Plaza!:thumbsup2

Oh yeah...that sounds so good. I told J that I was going to try as much alcohol as possible this trip. She said she is even going to try the alcholic milkshakes...which is amazing for her since she doesn't drink!

OMG - this sounds exactly like me. I think we've cancelled this one 3 times also. We are so going this time.

I am definitely ready for that ADR. We even had to go and eat some German food here in town because J wasn't so sure about that particular cuisine. But like I always say...I have never met a sausage I didn't like. :goodvibes

So here are some of the suggestions from you guys that I definitely going to try.

Biergarten – I have seen pics of this amazing pork loin roast…along with multiple sausages. Any one stand out over the others?

Wolfgang Puck Café – Sushi, sushi, and more sushi. Since I have two non-sushi eaters with me, I will be able to taste some other things, but I am taking Brenda’s advice and eating sushi.

Sci-Fi – If I get a burger…I am sharing it. And actually…this will be my first burger ever at WDW, believe it or not. I have to really crave burgers in order to get one. But I am taking one for the team since I have to go. Any appys that are actually good here?

Tony's Town Square – That pasta MickeyNicki got on her last trip looked so good, I don’t think I want to try anything else. But I am going to leave it as is…unlike Nicki…I am not as picky as she is. :rotfl:

Yak and Yeti – The ribs and the green beans. I have seen tons of reviews and I am severely torn as to what else to try, if anything. I may make J try the Shaoxing steak and shrimp so I can have a bite.

Turf Club – I have tried the onion rings, the tomato bisque and goat cheese, the prime rib, and the blue cheese covered strip. Does anyone recommend anything else on the menu here? I am debating on the crab cake and the crab covered strip…but since I have never had either there, I don’t know what to expect.:confused3

The Plaza – J is definitely getting the club as it is one of her fave sandwiches. I will get part of it, so all is well. Has anyone had the reuben there? How is it? And also…are the chips better than the fries?

ALCOHOL!!!! If you see me, and I am stumbling over…just point and laugh because it will be my own fault, and know I am doing my best to try as much alcohol as my body can take.:rotfl2:

Biergarten – debating on one of the beer flights…since it is Germany and all...
Wolfgang Puck Café – Wildberry lemonade? Brenda, does this have alcohol in it? If not…then I need an alcoholic beverage to try out.

Sci-Fi – The Martian milkshake…since I dig Bailey’s and how can you go wrong mixing that with 2 kinds of ice cream?

Tony’s – No alcohol, the rat *******s…:sad1:

Yak and Yeti – Need a recommendation. I have heard people talking of one in a bamboo glass? What is it called? This is going to be the one thing getting me through the AK since I am being the bag carrier that day since I don’t do the rides except Dinosaur and I want to do that one while a little buzzed.

Turf Club – Anything good here? Cause I have no idea…how is the glowtini?

The Plaza – no alcohol yet again…bummer…

Various drinks to try in Epcot – the Grey Goose slushie, the Welsh Dragon, one of the sakis (where do I get that from? The Yakitori House?), anything else worth trying since I will be spending most of my day there?

And so it goes…I need more advice on what to eat and what to drink…some things are set in stone, but since I have 3 travel buddies, I can get them to order certain things and then I can get something else…cause I am evil like that. So it is 4 times the fun.:thumbsup2

I suggest you swing by the Poly on one of your MK days & try the Backscratcher at the bar outside Ohana. It's killer and a must have on every trip. Different rums & fruit juices with a Jack Daniels topper, it's one of the strongest drinks I've had at WDW & it will cure what ails you plus it comes with a free backscratcher.

So I am thinking 2 things here...the new Paradisio 37 should be open by the time we get there, and I am a major sucker for latin food, so maybe we should be going there instead of WPC. I don't know...it is an idea. Since I haven't seen a menu or anything yet, and I have no idea if they are even taking reservations. Does anyone know anything at all about this place other than what type of place it is? I really want to try it out, but don't know anything about it yet. At least with Sanaa we knew a lot of things about it before it opened.

So here are some of the suggestions from you guys that I definitely going to try.

Biergarten – I have seen pics of this amazing pork loin roast…along with multiple sausages. Any one stand out over the others? You cannot go wrong with the schnitzel...man it is incredible!

Wolfgang Puck Café – Sushi, sushi, and more sushi. Since I have two non-sushi eaters with me, I will be able to taste some other things, but I am taking Brenda’s advice and eating sushi. I am afraid of sushi...do they have any with cooked shrimp/crab in it? I may try it at Cali grill

Sci-Fi – If I get a burger…I am sharing it. And actually…this will be my first burger ever at WDW, believe it or not. I have to really crave burgers in order to get one. But I am taking one for the team since I have to go. Any appys that are actually good here? The onion rings are killer...the burger was good but the reuben was better

Tony's Town Square – That pasta MickeyNicki got on her last trip looked so good, I don’t think I want to try anything else. But I am going to leave it as is…unlike Nicki…I am not as picky as she is. :rotfl: What?? Me Picky? Picky Nicki? :lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:

Yak and Yeti – The ribs and the green beans. I have seen tons of reviews and I am severely torn as to what else to try, if anything. I may make J try the Shaoxing steak and shrimp so I can have a bite. OMIGOD you cannot go wrong with the ribs or the steak and shrimp, both entrees were incredible.

Turf Club – I have tried the onion rings, the tomato bisque and goat cheese, the prime rib, and the blue cheese covered strip. Does anyone recommend anything else on the menu here? I am debating on the crab cake and the crab covered strip…but since I have never had either there, I don’t know what to expect.:confused3 Both sound great to me!

ALCOHOL!!!! If you see me, and I am stumbling over…just point and laugh because it will be my own fault, and know I am doing my best to try as much alcohol as my body can take.:rotfl2: Let us know of all teh wonderful drink you imbibe on so I can match you drink for drink

Biergarten – debating on one of the beer flights…since it is Germany and all...
Wolfgang Puck Café – Wildberry lemonade? Brenda, does this have alcohol in it? If not…then I need an alcoholic beverage to try out. DH loves the beer here and he is picky about his brew

Sci-Fi – The Martian milkshake…since I dig Bailey’s and how can you go wrong mixing that with 2 kinds of ice cream? I wanted to try that but DH opted for the one with banana and coconut liquer...soooo good!

Tony’s – No alcohol, the rat *******s…:sad1: Go to the Tambu Lounge and get your drink on! That is what I did in March and plan on doing it again in 3 weeks!

Various drinks to try in Epcot – the Grey Goose slushie, the Welsh Dragon, one of the sakis (where do I get that from? The Yakitori House?), anything else worth trying since I will be spending most of my day there? You have got to try the Peach Snap from the Joy of Tea stand in China, it is peach oolong ice tea and peach schnapps that is frozen like a slushie...man it is soooo good

Dont you wish you could just fast forward through the days and make the trip get here now!?!

Oh my god yes...I am so ready for a break, albeit a small one. I need my reality escape. I need to eat things I don't normally eat. I need to drink until I either get kicked out or fall over...well...not really, but I will definitely be trying to do that.

Sushi...I was always the I would never eat anything raw type person...yucky...and then I had a California Roll and a Spider Roll. Yummy and it is all cooked. The CA Roll has cooked crab meat, cucumber, carrots, and sometimes mayo or cream cheese. I think I have seen it on the menu and you can get that anywhere honestly. You should definitely try it. The spider roll is soft shell crab fried and put in rice and wrapped up...one of my favorites. Doesn't your hubby eat sushi? If so, and you have a Kona Grill in your city, go there. I take J there whenever I need a sushi fix and I get all I want and she gets the burger. It is a win-win.

You really ought to...if I can get J to at least try it, you definitely should. She found out she likes crawfish at the food and wine festival last year because the one rule was, if I got it, she had to at least taste it. hehehehe...her face on some things I got was so funny! I am bummed we are not going this year, but she finally conceded that we get to go every year from now on. Yay for me!

And if you like smoked salmon, I would try the philadelphia roll too. It is like bagel and lox all rolled up in a little rice package.

MickeyNicki, on your next Disney Food adventure, try the sushi at California Grill. Like you I had never eaten sushi, the RAW part was a turn off. In Feb, I ate at California Grill and decided to take a chance and ordered the tempura roll. OMG, where has this been my whole life. I ate every piece on the plate. It was so good, that I already have ADRs for August for the California Grill and will try to get my niece and 2 nephews to try it.
