Yesss that is definitely the money shot right there! I didn't realize that LMA only shows a few times a day and my BF was sooo disappointed that we missed it! I promised him next time we go back we'll see it and I'm excited now! :goodvibes

We didn't stop to watch the parade as we were heading over to B&tB at that time. I wonder if you went over to B&tB at that time. If so, we watched the same show again! :thumbsup2

Hey Missy!
I am all caught up again...I missed a couple of days. Great pictures with the Chacater meet & greet. :thumbsup2

I would definitely say that you got the money shot! WAY TO GO!!! I think that my boys would really enjoy that show as well.

OH NO...cell phone tragedy?!?! Can't wait to find out who it was!!! :rotfl:

Just got home today and got all caught up. Great updates!!! I didn't know that about TSM either. I thought you had to let go in between each pull.

Hijack alert!!
2 things happened that made me think of you while on my trip.

1. We were in Carousel of Progress and a cell phone rang. :rotfl:I couldn't believe it. I started to laugh really hard. Which of course got the attention of my family. They had no idea why I was laughing. (Rest assured I was quiet). Then, no lie, he says, "I'm in the Carousel of Progress." I couldn't believe it. I was laughing so hard at this time. :lmao: Now I will tell you that this gentleman was trying to be quiet and got off very fast. I hope he didn't realize why I was laughing. My family asked me after we got out what was making me laugh. I told them, but they didn't think it was at all funny. What are the odds?

2. In all the talk about Wishes and seeing Tinkerbell, it never occurred to me that Tinkerbell was a real person.:confused3 What did I think it was?? A light? an animitronic Tinkerbell?? I had seen the wire, and it just never thought about it being a real person. I was amazed and full of tears. My whole family was amazed.

Anyway thanks for letting me hijack a little.

Can't wait to hear more!

Lights Motors Action Extreme Stunt Show...Now remember, I have 3 boys and a wonderful husband so this show is NOT optional...it is a MUST SEE! ::yes::

Absolutely!!

We chose a spot just between the Sounds Dangerous theater and the American Idol Experience. There is a little wall and an area called “the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Hall of Fame” with busts of TV and movie personalities.

Will have to remember this...

Awww... you never forget those little girl crushes! :cutie:

Here they are chillin’ with their lemonades, trying to act like they didn’t know us!

:lmao: So funny.... and so true to form!!

Love all your pix.... I'm really excited for Block Party Bash now! :thumbsup2

Hmmm... sounds like a bit 'o trouble coming up....

LMA is not my favorite but you did get a great shot. We had a bad view of the parade last time, so I hope to see it again in a better spot next time. Your pictures of the parade were really good. I love BTB, hope you get to see it.

I'm glad we asked about the parade..I would have been disappointed if we had a bad spot! Ours was great! :thumbsup2

Great update Missy....

We have yet to see LMA...it has just never worked out for us. I read in the UG 09 book that rumor has it in a few yrs they may change it to a more Cars fun version for more appeal...:confused3

Hmm...I missed that in the UG. I'll have to go back and look. Not sure how I feel about that one. :scratchin

It's hard to catch w/ only 2 showings practically a day...but glad to see your great pic's and others' on their TR's.

I didn't know it was only showing twice a day till we got to DHS. I'm glad it worked into our schedule. The boys (all four of them) would have been disappointed!

We saw the BPB in 08 and sweated thru it, maybe seeing in cooler Nov. weather we'll have a different feeling...but we got frozen lemonades too from Doc Min's while we waited.

It's definitely hot standing out in the sun on that hot pavement. I think all the mid-day parades are like that! Those frozen lemonade's really hit the spot!

Great dancin' :dance3: Jonah!

That boy can bust a move! :dancer:

Oh BTW...the last parade that DH, my DMom and I saw before seeing BPB at DHS/MGM was the Aladdin parade in '94....

LOL! I don't even remember there being a parade when I visited in 1992! :confused3

now I'm dating myself...

Join the club!

2 guesses on who lost their cell phone.....:scared:

Any ideas?? Hint...Jeff was not permitted (by me!) to bring his as it's his work phone and he gets email etc. It would have been too tempting for him to work. That leaves me, Isaiah, or Dan.

Great pics!

Love LMA! My 11 yr old is a total car fanatic so I took his pic watching LMA in addition to pics of the show!

Love Jonah's dance move ~ my 7 year old does it too!

ROFL @ your older two chillin' (and probably checking out the girls!)

Such a good idea to capture his face! Good job Mom!

I think every 6-10 year old knows that move! :lmao:

Oh dear...I am so not ready for the "checking out the girls" stage. I fear it's upon me though. :sad2:

Yesss that is definitely the money shot right there! I didn't realize that LMA only shows a few times a day and my BF was sooo disappointed that we missed it! I promised him next time we go back we'll see it and I'm excited now!

When did they cut it to 2 shows?? I remember it showing more often when we were there in 2007. I was surprised!

We didn't stop to watch the parade as we were heading over to B&tB at that time. I wonder if you went over to B&tB at that time. If so, we watched the same show again!

We were shooting for the 4:00 B&B show....did we make it?? Stay tuned! :cool2:

Hey Missy!

I would definitely say that you got the money shot! WAY TO GO!!! I think that my boys would really enjoy that show as well.

OH NO...cell phone tragedy?!?! Can't wait to find out who it was!!!

My guess is that they will LOVE it! It does only show 2 times per day so be sure to work it into your schedule at the beginning of the day!

Had to catch up from your past couple updates.. The Block Party Parade sounds interesting.. I haven't even heard of it until now! Last I knew, the MGM parade was the Stars & Motorcars one.

Even though you didn't stop in the Animation.. drawing place (can't remember the name right now!), it is a really cool thing to do. Even though I'm definitely not an artist, the way the animator guy who leads the session explains everything and walks you through it is really helpful. Also, it helps that you're using a pencil and paper, unlike the drawing experience at Disney Quest where you use a touch screen computer and a stylus-like tool.

Hope your cell phone mishap wasn't too awful.. Is it horrible that I look forward to hearing what happened?

Hey - lookie here! One update posted and I'm already posting my response! :thumbsup2

Awesome money shot! :cool1: That's the great thing about seeing things more than once - you start to anticipate when those good shots will be.

Michael Landon! I've never seen those busts.

Cool dance moves Jonah! :dancer:

Looks like you had fun at the Block Party. That Sulley sure is tall, isn't he??

Here's hoping you got to see Beauty and the Beast. :goodvibes

The guide you pick up as you enter the park has a parade route on it. It shows you where the parade stops so that is helpful when trying to figure out where to sit!

Wow Carissa! Impressive! Have things settled into a more normal routine for you?

He is HUGE! We did a meet and greet with him last trip...YIKES! It's a good thing my boys aren't skittish at all about characters...he could be intimidating!

Love the picture of you and Mikey! I agree with a pp, you look giddy! Such a cute pose...

I am not a fan of LMA. I was bored the whole time and couldn't wait to get out of there. I saw it in 2006 and haven't been back yet! Of course, now that DS is older, I might just have to suck it up and see it again. Great pics you got, though! :thumbsup2

I was so disappointed when we went in March and on our very last day, the Block Party was going on and Buzz, Woody & the Green Army men were stopped about where we were standing. DS4 and I LOOOVVVEEE these guys! But my family doesn't really stop for the parades since they've been so many times, and it was our last day, so we only caught a few glimpses of this one. Seeing your pics just brings back that disappointment. :sad2: But, at the same time, it makes me all the more determined to see it when we go back! They can move along if they want, but Mel and DS4 are seeing the parade!!!! (standing firm!) :goodvibes

Really cute pics of the boys here, too. Love your little one dancing in the street. The two older ones standing off to the side looking "cool" is so cute, too. I dread the day when DS4 is too cool to be seen with his parents.

Anyhoo, looking forward to the next installment! You do such a great job with these and you keep us in suspense wondering what will happen next. :thumbsup2

I got those shirts for everyone at Christmas time at the Disney Store online. They were really cheap...like $3 per shirt...I got a great deal! :thumbsup2

I'm not sure how relaxed he is, but that boy can sure take advantage of the Power Nap!

Glad you liked the underarm photo...it's a family favorite!! :rotfl:

I only purchased one print from our PhotoPass account in 2007, so I wasn't sure what would happen on this trip. I made a conscious effort to get more Photopass pics taken...especially with the whole family. When I got home, after looking at what we had, it made more financial sense to order the whole CD than to pay $15 per picture to download or print. There were enough good ones that I would have wanted....therefore...we now have the CD! Thanks for the compliments! :goodvibes

Okay, I'm quoting this, just so you know where I am in the TR. I'm slowly but surely getting through it, in between writing my own PTR and reading a couple other ones. Surrounded by Disney Magic. pixiedust:

Anyway, I've been trying to wait until I finished to comment, but I just HAD to comment here because I am so excited. I TOTALLY did NOT know that they had Photopass at Blizzard Beach. I always bring a waterproof camera to the waterparks, but this is just cool. :cool2: Do they have it at Typhoon Lagoon too (remember, I'm only halfway through the TR)?

Great Photopass pics! I  Photopass because otherwise I'm never in the picture. I've already pre-ordered the CD (did it on our last trip too). It is so worth it.

Thanks again...back to the TR!

:beach::beach::beach::beach::beach:

They got off the bus today to the tune of "What Time Is It?" from HSM2...what a perfect song to rock out to on the last day of school! "It's Summer Time!" They danced right along with me...such good sports! :dance3:

Happy Summer Everyone!

Wow. I'm posting again right after I posted. I'm caught up WOOHOO!!!

And :cool1: to your boys being out of school. Even though it seems crazy to me. My DS7's last day of school was May 29th. DS4 who is in preschool finished May 22nd. Of course DS7 goes back on August 3rd too. Interesting how schedules are different (we start early because we get a Fall Break...which is when we are going to DISNEY, so it's all good!).

I have so many comments (although I already made one of them three posts up), but I have to go get my walk in before taking the boys to a swim party. Then a possible baseball scrimmage tonight. Ahh, life with boys. You know how it is.

I'm really excited to see that new Block Party parade now. I was disappointed about Stars and Motorcars because my boys are BIG Star Wars fans and they even like looking at the pictures from our last trip of Darth Vader and R2D2 (they don't really remember the trip much, they were 5 and 2). But this looks way cool.

I had so many other comments, but I can't remember them all now. I'll just have to comment from here on out. Have fun with your boys for the rest of the summer! :thumbsup2

I'm glad things are settling for you...that's a big change to go through! And homeschooling starts soon, right? You go girl!

I feel your pain! The boys are convinced we are going back in 2 years (2011), but Jeff and I are not so sure when it will actually happen.

Yay for no school!! Alex got out yesterday. They have a talent show at the end of the day and he doesn't like sitting through it all so I picked him up a bit early. Zach has already started camp (3 mornings a week) so I had some alone time with Alex today - which is rare... Alex starts his summer school/camp program after the 4th.

I have to keep my boys busy with camps, etc. or they would definitely kill each other. I found Zach whacking Alex with a stick this afternoon... :rolleyes1

I keep mine really busy as well....unfortunately all that activity doesn't really start until after the 4th of July. SO...I have a week or so to keep the peace! We are traveling to PA to see my brother and his family over the 4th, then we go camping for 10 days on the 11th, then the boys' camps start (church camp, Cub Scout camp, etc.) Once the summer kicks into high gear I'm all set! I used to dread having to entertain the boys all summer, but now that they are older, summer really flies by. Almost too fast sometimes.

Ahh...hitting the brother with a stick...classic.

Happy summer for you!

Mine have been out almost 3 full weeks. Last day for the twins was the 5th of June and Mae's was the day before.

I love your goal/task for the summer....:lmao:

we've been keeping very busy here w/ Mom's taxi service taking the kids to various camps thru the park district, church and more.

This week Margaret and I have been sweating it out each morning in 90 degree heat while the kids do swim lessons.

My summer fun:

I hope to get some scrapping done, fun weekends in MI (one already, next one this weekend), 4th of July BBQ and fireworks, DH & mine anniversary, Great America and at the end of the summer the CUBS game w/ my Dad for our b-days.

Today's fun in the midst of taking the kids to and fro, my Dad had to come over and rescue my dryer. The lint trap is on the top of the machine, and while as I was cleaning it out, the smoke alarm falls right in, like going down it's personal lint slide....:headache:

He had to take apart the dryer to retrieve it....TG for my DAD!

I'll probably won't be Dising this weekend w/ dial-up service in MI, so have a fantabolous 1st summer weekend :dance3: :cool2:

Wow...90 degrees already?? We only get a few of those days each summer. We usually hover in the 80s for most of the summer. Not too bad.

Mom's taxi....no kidding, right? Now that Dan and Isaiah are older, they can ride their bikes to some places, but still depend on me a lot.

Your summer sounds fun! I'd love to get some scrappin' done as well...we'll see how that goes! A Cubs came sounds great...what a cool way to celebrate with your dad!

Funny dryer story! LOL! I had to read it twice to make sure you said the smoke detector went INTO the lint trap! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: Yay for dad coming to the rescue!

Ya-hooty!! :woohoo: Today was Tricia's last day and tomorrow will be Billy's!!

I asked Tricia what she wanted to do the most on her very first day of summer vacation.... I thought she would say "ride her bike" or "go to the pool"... nope!

...she said she wanted to sleep in!!

Here's wishing the boys a fun and safe summer!

I thought of a couple of things I wanted to say earlier (and other things will probably come to me at various times. :rotfl:).

First, I'm planning to copy your 3x5 cards in some form. I have a rough idea what I want to do each day (I'm working it out in my PTR), but I hadn't thought to plan a route. Never done that before (and we've been A LOT...went 3-4 times a year before we moved out of Florida), but that's a really good idea with the kids this time. I'm copying a lot of things from you, actually.

Second, I  (and I mean LOVE) HSM. My DH actually does too (he's a musical fan. The Grease movies are two of his favorite movies of all time). The weekend that HSM2 came out we watched it Friday, Saturday, and Sunday (and the boys only watched Friday). We have all three movies, I have all three soundtracks on my iPod (I think we actually have all three CDs too). The first one is my least favorite because I don't like that Zac doesn't really sing. And even more embarrassing (Sara might remember this...if she remembers me from Monica and Michelle's TRs)...I have an awful crush on Zac Efron. He's about 12 years younger than me (well, 11 3/4), but I just think he's a cutie. And I love his voice (hence my slight dislike of the first movie).

Wow. I just put that in print.

Luckily, my boys both love HSM too. They both (even DS4-who just turned 4 about two weeks ago) know all of the words to all of the songs. We even have HSM3 Sing It for our Wii (which is just ADORABLE to watch my DSs play). HSM will definitely be a must see for ALL of us (thank goodness).

Anyway, I'm sure more will come to me, but I wanted to get those two things out there while I was thinking of them. As you can see. I love to chat too. Ask Lisa (she's read my PTR). :lmao:

I'll be back...

Ahh..to be 13 and be able to sleep the day away! My Dan is 14 and he is the exact same way. He disappeared the other day and I was calling for him...I walked up to his room to find him sound asleep! He slept ALL afternoon.

I'm so glad you can use some of my ideas! Those cards really are awesome to have...they help keep the day flowing.

And THANK YOU for joining me in my  of all things HSM. I love a good musical too and Grease is one of my absolute FAVORITES! Jeff just bought the DVD for me for Christmas this year so I can watch anytime I want!

I don't like that Zac didn't sing on the first soundtrack either. Silly if you ask me. :confused3 My youngest, Jonah, loves all the movies. He was walking around today wearing a red basketball shirt....at one point he said something about it being a Wildcat jersey. He had a basketball and he was singing Getch'a Head in the Game and doing the moves...too cute! :)

Shhh..but I think Zac is a total cutie too. And he's WAY younger than me...more like 17 or 18 years..YIKES! I am certain they didn't make boys that cute when I was in High School! :rotfl: Have you seen 17 Again?? If not....run, don't walk! :goodvibes

OK...now that we've bonded over HSM....I MUST go read your PTR! :thumbsup2

Summer Vacation has begun!!:dance3: Yay!! for the boys being out of school!:yay: My boys last day was Tuesday, so I have been trying to keep the peace between them since then.:rotfl: They can definitely get on each others nerves!!! So I am hoping to keep them busy with crafts, activities, trips to the beach--anything so they're not--"Mom, he touched me again" or "Just leave me alone"....ugh!! On the brighter side we have our August trip to look forward to so I think I may begin doing a Disney night once a week. I went back last night to look over your PTR to check out some of the stuff you guys did and found some great ideas. Thanks for that!!:goodvibes

I really love Summer Vacation...it used to be much harder when they were younger, but now it goes by so fast it's like if you blink you miss it! I love to camp out, sit around the fire, spend the days at a friend's pool drinking lemonade, visit family, go to the drive-in....all the fun summer stuff! :yay:

Hello!!! GREAT REPORT!

It has taken me three days, but, I finally made it!:thumbsup2 I would have breezed through (I really enjoyed your post) but my family kept calling me away. The nerve...:rotfl2: you know what is for food...do I have clean towels... can u make another pitcher of kool-aid...:rotfl:

I seen you posting on hhockman and mickeystoontown so I thought I would drop by...still learning about the DIS...and enjoying traveling and planning along w/new friends...

I have really enjoyed traveling with you and your family up to this point. I love your pictures and boy ya'll had great weather (more than I can say for our last trip) we missed so much because of the DOWNPOURS --it was not the usual FL rain. But, I got the promise of a trip next year because of it:yay:. The character meet and greets ya'll did a great job finding them. :cheer2:

I like your 3X5 card idea, I may have to borrow a version of that for next year.

What is with guys and their wallets; my DH got to MS on our drive when he realized he forgot his...

your boys look like they get along great!!!good luck on your summer goal...:dance3:

Hi and :welcome: ! I've bumped into you on other reports as well..thanks for stopping over!

The 3 x 5 cards are a "must-do" for me. They really help with keeping us on track!

I'll tell ya...my DH is usually really good about his wallet. I'm not sure what happened on this trip, but he managed to misplace it twice! We were very fortunate that neither incident was a disaster!

My boys LOVE to bicker and fight. They seem to get along great at WDW which is one of the reasons I love it so much! They love each other, but they also love to push each others' buttons!

OK....where were we?? :confused3

Oh right...on our way to try and catch the 4:00 show of Beauty and the Beast! Our FP window for RnRC wasn’t quite open yet, so we decided we had time to catch this show. First though, we ran over to ToT and grabbed FP’s for later. Can’t leave DHS without another ride!! :woohoo: After securing FP’s, we made our way into the B&B theater. The last time we saw this show, we were way up top and in the sun. This time we got better seats...off to the side, but at least shaded and a little closer to the stage. Just a little vent...I know that you’re supposed to slide over as far as possible, and I have no problem with that. BUT...why does the tallest person in the group have to sit in front of the shortest person in my family?? I always try to look behind us and be sure Jeff or I are not sitting right in front of a little one. I wish others were as thoughtful...vent over!

For some reason, the lighting in this theater always makes my pictures come out looking pink-ish. Odd...but here they are!

Ahhh...the happy ending!
http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m1/missyp_02/ThursdayDHS--Disney200955.jpg

With Belle and the Beast off to their “happily ever after” it was finally time for us to be off to our “0-60 in 2 seconds” ride on Rock-n-RollerCoaster! I SO love this ride! On our last trip in 2007, Jonah did not meet the height requirement so Jeff and I had to do the ol’ baby swap. This year...we can all ride together!! Woo-Hoo!! We had been waiting since NOON at this point and it was almost 4:30. We happily fight the crowd that seems to congregate at this end of the park and make our way, FP’s in hand, to the turnstiles. WHAT??????? The ride is closed down temporarily?? Are you kidding?? The nice CM said he had no idea when the ride would re-open, but we decided to take our chances and hang out for a few minutes. Lucky for us, because the ride opened quickly! The stand-by line said 90 minutes when it re-opened and we asked the CM if that was accurate..he said NO, so we decided to hop in line there instead of using the FP’s. Woo-Hoo....another ride later!! :yay: It wasn’t long before we were in the cool of the back alley and getting ready to board our “limo”. Jonah was so excited! After “safely securing all loose objects” we put the pedal to the metal and we were OFF! Man...that take-off always makes my eyes water! AWESOME!!

Jonah loved his first ride...I think this is the first upside-down coaster he ever rode! He’s a boy after my own heart!

As we exited the ride, we all gathered our belongings..........or so we thought. As we got off, Isaiah was frantically searching for something. We asked what it was and he said....duh-duh-duh.....

“Where’s my cell phone?”

(Are you kidding me right now?? )

So I say...”well, where did you put it?”

Isaiah, “in my hat then in the pocket where they told me to put my stuff, but it’s not in my hat”

Me, “Isaiah, you know that roller coaster goes upside down, right? Your phone is probably gone.”

Jeff, “let’s ask the CM....we’ll see if they can look in the mesh pocket.”

Me, “OK...I guess it can’t hurt.”

So, once again, we did NOT exit the ride area, but asked the CM if she could possibly check the car we were in for Isaiah’s phone. After asking which car we rode in and what the phone looked like, she was off on her mission. I’m sure they HATE people like us. UGH! I knew the phone was gone. It had fallen out of the hat when he tried to put it in the pocket, it rolled around the bottom of the car until we went upside down, and then it fell out. I just knew it.

But wait...here comes the CM with....WHAT???....Isaiah’s cell phone in her hand!! You have got to be kidding me. I cannot believe that we have lost Jeff’s wallet twice, our KTTW card twice, and NOW Isaiah’s cell phone....and no MAJOR incidents. WOW. WE are blessed people! :cloud9: (Happy ending #2!)

Now that we can all breathe again, we talk to Isaiah about WHY this happened. His phone is normally in his pocket. When he gets on the rides, he takes it out and puts it in his hat and stows it in the mesh pocket provided. We had to explain to him, that his pocket is a much safer place for his phone than the mesh pocket and to PLEASE leave it in there from now on. Ok....moving on!

Before we leave, Jonah stops in the gift shop to purchase a set of Aerosmith drumsticks. No, he doesn’t play the drums, but he DOES drum his hands on EVERYTHING in sight. (He keeps asking for drum lessons, and so far I have been able to put him off!) I knew these were a fantastic souvenir for him and he would use them all the time...not to mention it would be a great reminder of his first ride!

Here are my Rock and Roll boys outside of RnRC!

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m1/missyp_02/ThursdayDHS--Disney200956.jpg

Due to the delay BEFORE we could ride and the delay AFTER we rode, our FP’s for ToT were now good, so we jumped over there and took our second ride of the day. That ride NEVER gets old! I LOVE IT!

It’s been a long, hot, crowded, tiring day so far and we are getting hungry! We also still have FP’s for TSM, so it is unanimously decided that we should head over to TSM and then to Pizza Planet for some dinner. But first, we need to make a decision about which Fantasmic! show we want to see. We found out when we got to DHS that a second show had been added and we just wanted to play the day out and see how we felt before making a decision. After some discussion, Jeff and I agreed that we should see the early show at 8:30 then head back to POR for some pool time before bed. We could push it and stay for the late show, but then we are all exhausted and have no night swimming time... which the boys love. Tomorrow we are headed to Epcot for evening EMH so it was a wise idea to make tonight a fairly early one. We wanted to be sure to be in line for the 8:30 show around 7:30. Good....decision made! :thumbsup2

We passed under this heading to our second TSM ride of the day.

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m1/missyp_02/ThursdayDHS--Disney200957.jpg

Of course, TSM was AWESOME again! I still stink at it, but it’s so much fun!

It’s now approximately 6:00 and we are all ready to fill our bellies......Pizza Planet here we come!

Up Next....the update Jeff has been dreading!

Hot day + crowded park + tired family = stressed out Jeff.

Stressed out Jeff + vacation = unhappy Missy....You can all do the math!

Hooray!! :woohoo: Missy, you had some serious pixie dust on your trip (perhaps still left over from the barber shop?!)

Woo Hoo! :woohoo: Thanks for the update, Missy!

First of all, I love Beauty and the Beast. While looking at your pictures, "Be Our Guest" was just going through my mind. I never get tired of it!

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Rock-N-Roller Coaster!!!! Did I say I LOVE this ride? I do! Unfortunately for me, I didn't get to ride in March. My parents won't ride this one, my niece was "sick", and my sis thought her daughter would be upset if she rode w/out her. She's eleven! She'll get over it. Well, that's what I wanted to say, anyways. I zipped my lip and kept going... next time, even if I have to get in the single rider's line, which is normally not my thing.

I just love your description, though. It took me there! My favorite is the beginning part too, when your skin feels like it's being pulled back from your face. LOVE IT! Pure adreneline!

The pic of the boys outside of the guitar is cute, too, especially Jonah. I just wanna pinch his cheeks, he's so adorable!

Can't wait to hear the next installment! You've got us all intrigued...popcorn::

It's such fun reading your report. I feel like I'm there. Just 80 days until our Incredible family arrives at the most magical place on Earth. We love RnR Coaster, ToT and TSM. So much fun!!! My DD 14 wants to audition for American Idol just for fun. It'll be nice to have another new experience.

Oh my gosh on the cell phone! Awesome that it was found right away! My oldest was only allowed to bring his cell if he wore cargo shorts and buttoned it in....and yep, he wore cargo shorts everyday (mostly what he owns) and I checked to make sure the pocket with the phone was buttoned!

Great pic of the "band" outside RnRC!

I'm looking forward to this ride more than any other because it was closed on our trip two years ago, and scheduled to reopen the day after we left!! I can feel the tension coming into the next post...It's hard not to expect some spats when you are together 24/7 for a week or longer though! Hopefully it didn't last long. :goodvibes Looking forward to another update!

We just got back from our trip and I am starting to get caught up with everyone else's trips before I start mine. I just finished reading the end of your perfect day at the MK. What a great day and your post was so detailed. I love it!

We just experienced those crowds a few days ago at the MK between the parade and the fireworks, so I could totally picture the mob scene in my mind. One of the worst crowds of our whole trip. I'm so glad that you got what you have been waiting for...to see Tink. It must have been a wonderful moment.

BTW - one of my favorite times at Disney is at dusk, and your pictures are beautiful. It is the BEST when they first turn on the lights.

What a great installment! I'm so glad Isaiah found his cell phone. Whew! Ya'll have been lucky. :)

I can't WAIT to ride TSM. Can't wait.

Unfortunately, Christian is NOT going to be tall enough for RnRC. And I kind of doubt Will and Cole will want to ride either. It will probably just be me, Matt, and my brother and SIL. Maybe my dad. Not sure.

I don't do ToT. :scared1: I don't mind the drop, actually, but I am very anxious by nature and the whole lead up to the drop makes me so upset I have a stomach ache for hours. I told you I was weird. I'm not really sure why I get anxious because the drop really doesn't bother me. I love roller coasters. Just can't stand the anticipation. Matt swears he's going to get Will and Cole on it. I kind of doubt it. Christian is tall enough (I can't believe the height restriction is just 40", but it is), but Matt says he won't take Christian. Which is my excuse to stay on the ground. Interestingly enough, my brother, who gets carsick if he has to ride, rather than drive, down the street, loves ToT. I've always said that when all my kids are old enough to go, I'll go one more time to get the family picture. And I will. But unless Christian begs, it probably won't be THIS time.

Anyway, can't wait to hear the answer to the big math equation. Hope you still enjoyed F!

Hooray!! :woohoo: Missy, you had some serious pixie dust on your trip (perhaps still left over from the barber shop?!)

So happy Jonah finally got to ride with the rest of the crew.... he looks so happy with his sticks... are you actually contemplating the drum lessons??

Uh-Oh.... I know when husbands are dreading the next post its because there was a spat... :sad2: Okay... I'm bracing myself!!

Kathy

LOL! I think that pixie dust just may have been left over from the barber shop!

I don't know about the drum lessons....he's asked for guitar lessons too, so maybe we'll go with those!

Yep...spat, coming up! :rolleyes1

WOW! What a great update!! So glad that you were able to see the B&B show! And that's great that you got to ride Rockin' Roller Coaster TWICE and that they found Isaiah's cell phone--whew!! Uh oh! Do I hear a fight coming on?! It's bound to happen at least once on a trip--right?! Can't wait to hear more!

Yeah, we really had a great day! Right up until what happens next!

You've got us all intrigued...

Good for you for keeping the peace...but I agree with you. She would get over it, and it's not just HER vacation. You do what you gotta do next time!

Jonah really is a cutie...if I do say so myself! ;)

You've got one brave, rockin' family, Missy! AND some magnetic force drawing your lost things back to you. Yea! Unfortunately, we had some bad cell phone mojo.:sad2: Uh oh, ominous sounding update coming. Tell Jeff he'll be out of his misery soon.

I'm very lucky that my boys are very brave and adventurous because I LOVE all the rides! I'm a roller coaster junkie!

Bad cell phone mojo is NOT good.

Great pictures of Beauty and the Beast!!!:thumbsup2 We have yet to make it to this show.:confused3 But it looks like it would be a lot of fun.

OH-NO!!! Isaiah's cell phone missing!! You had me holding my breath there for a minute--I kept thinking oh-no not again!!! So glad the CM found it!! Wow-that was a close one!!!;)

It looks like Jonah had a great time on the Rock-n-Roller Coaster and was loving his new drumsticks!!! What a cute picture of all your boys!!!

Can't wait for more!!!

You should check out Beauty and the Beast...it's very well done. You'd like it!

He does love those drumsticks! It was a good purchase.

Missy,
It's such fun reading your report. I feel like I'm there. Just 80 days until our Incredible family arrives at the most magical place on Earth. We love RnR Coaster, ToT and TSM. So much fun!!! My DD 14 wants to audition for American Idol just for fun. It'll be nice to have another new experience.

Hi there and :welcome: How cool that your DD wants to do AIE....that should be so fun! Are you doing a pre-trip report??

Great Update!! We too love RnRC. We didn't get to see Band B this time, but have seen it several times before. My pics never come out here either??

Can't wait to hear more.

What is it about that theater?? Strange.

Love the Beauty and the Beast pics - definitely one of my faves!

Yeah..both older boys have phones and only one of them was allowed to bring it to the park each day. I figured we only needed 2 phones with us, mine and one of theirs. After the first night of them texting all their friends all evening, we made the "one phone" rule. It worked out that Isaiah carried his most of the time because he tended to wear shorts with pockets.

That's my FAVORITE band!

Oh no! I've never liked Math and your math problem at the end of the report is scaring me.

Me too! And I LIKE math!

Yay, I'm go glad y'all got to ride RNRC as a family!! I'm looking forward to this ride more than any other because it was closed on our trip two years ago, and scheduled to reopen the day after we left!! I'm so excited for that rush of 0 to 60 when it takes a second to catch your breath, and just when you do, you are going upside down!!

I can feel the tension coming into the next post...It's hard not to expect some spats when you are together 24/7 for a week or longer though! Hopefully it didn't last long. :goodvibes Looking forward to another update!

Ugh...that would stink to miss RnRC. Be sure to get on it this time! :cool1:

The tension has actually been building all week....it kind of just comes to a head in my next update. More on that soon!

Wooohoooo!! What a fabulous day! Getting to ride favourite rides, having a "lost" cell phone returned, dinner at Pizza Planet, enjoying Beauty and the Beast, Jonah being able to ride RnRC for the first time (you're braver than I, letting him get those drumsticks LOL) and Fantasmic to look forward to!
Sorry in advance for the temporary marital strife - it can't be sunshine and roses all the time, right? LOL

He is still drumming on stuff with those drumsticks!

And you're right about the sunshine and roses...I love the man to death, but we do have the occasional "disagreement" .

Maybe you guys used up all the Lost & Found pixie dust before we got there?? :confused3:laughing:

I'm glad the phone wasn't lost!! I can't believe how many close calls you guys had!

Sounds like a perfect afternoon at DHS - I LOVE RnRC - we were so happy that Alex could ride this year. Zach may be tall enough next time?? :confused3 But I doubt he'll want to ride. Alex is my daredevil. ;)

Sorry about using all the pixie dust! We really were SO lucky!

Isaiah is the one boy who is LESS adventurous when it comes to rides than the others. I was proud of him this trip for riding ToT...I really didn't think he would!

Wow! talk about having pixiedust: on this trip! good thing it's the most magical place on Earth.

DHS sounds like it made for an awesome day!! all the important stuff covered and enjoyed :upsidedow:
The math equation sounds like something from my world...can't wait to hear this one...

We are going to need a little of that Disney Magic in the next update!

Yeah, I totally messed that one up....I should have anticipated that crowd situation. Oh well...a lesson learned!

And sunset/dusk is a beautiful time! I totally agree! :thumbsup2

I get motion sick in the car as well, but roller coasters and ToT do not bother me at all! Good thing because I LOVE them!

You'll love TSM! :yay:

Phew - I'm all caught up again! (What happened to lazy days of summer...I feel like I have less time now than I did when my kids were in school....:headache:)

Great update - like others have already said, you all had great pixie dust on this trip regarding the lost items! I'm so glad they had the phone! I've never been on RNRC but my oldest rode it in October for the 1st time and loved it!! I have a feeling I might be on it next time since Shawn seems to be getting more queasy in his old age!

Love the BATB show! One of my faves!

Uh-oh.....(don't worry, most likely we've all had a spat or two before on vacation....)

No Lazy Days here either...summer is just as busy as the school year, just a different kind of busy!

You should definitely give RnRC a try...at least once! It's fabulous!!

Awesome that Jonah loved going on RnRC...have not been on that ride since 05, I must really try and get on it next yr. Love the drum sticks souviner, so fun, well maybe not for Mom's ears ;)

do I hear a future drum liner in the marching band?

Great pic of the kids and you guys are having an awesome DHS day....but I guess there always has to be a bump in the fairy tale at some point...

I know what you mean about the watery eyes on RnRC. It's unbelievable! I thought my contacts were going to fall out!

That is amazing that your family (almost) lost all the valuable items during the trip, but they were saved! That is awesome luck :thumbsup2

Looking forward to more.

I would love for Jonah to play in the marching band...I did in HS. Unfortunately, we don't have a marching band at our HS here...my other two boys play in the band, but no marching. I so enjoyed it when I did it...it's a shame we don't have one. :sad2:

I am glad that you all got to ride RNR and TOT together. I don't know if we will ever be able to convince my son to ride thrill rides. He is almost 7 and has NO interest in even trying anything. Maybe he will get braver as he gets older. Waiting to see what happens next.

With my boys it seems like they either have the personality for the "scary rides" or they don't. Dan and Jonah are daredevils and willing to try anything. Isaiah, however, is much more cautious when it comes to rides. I think it's the control factor...because if he feels like he can control the outcome of a "scary" thing, he's all about risk. The kid will bungee jump from the trees, climb mountains, jump from the top of the bleachers, etc., but he hesitates on roller coasters! :confused3 Jonah has always wanted to do all the things he was too short for..now he's tall enough and he's thrilled!

I'm going to do my best to get the end of our DHS day posted later this afternoon. It's been a busy week, with LOTS of rain! :sad2: I have been babysitting the little boy of one of Jeff's co-workers for the past two days, so trying to keep him busy and occupied as well as my own! The older two went to see Transformers yesterday...perfect on a rainy afternoon. :thumbsup2 Dan has had all his baseball games rained out...UGH...lots of make-up games he may miss due to our camping trip. Not to mention we are leaving EARLY tomorrow morning to visit my brothers and their families for the 4th. (Just outside of Philadelphia.) On top of all that, I have a 10 day camping trip to get the family ready for and I am the VBS director at our church, so I've been trying to get some of that work done as well. Did I say I was busy?? :scared1:

Anyway...I don't want to leave you hanging for too long, so I will try to get the next update posted sometime before we leave tomorrow. Thanks for reading everyone! :goodvibes

Holy smokes! I'm surprised that you had time to even do this post. I always hated make-up games because sometimes they'd play back-to-back games and we'd be at the ballpark for the entire day.

Here it goes..the “Missy and Jeff had a meltdown at Disney” update!

We had just finished playing with Andy’s toys on our 2nd TSM ride of the day and we were ready to slow down a bit and head to Pizza Planet for dinner. Keep in mind that we had arrived at DHS about 8:30 am, been up late the night before watching Wishes at MK, and been fighting the heat and humidity as well as the crowds all day. If any of you have been reading along since my PTR, you know that my son Dan deals with some generalized anxiety issues for which he takes medication. Well....that apple doesn’t fall too far from the tree, if you know what I mean. ;) Jeff does not do well in crowds or in situations where he feels he needs to do many things at one time. Disney is challenging for him because it is ALL of those things! He manages very well for the most part, but every now and then it gets the best of him and he reacts....poorly in this case!

As we were strolling toward Pizza Planet, we decided to check in a couple of gift shops for a plush Eve that Dan had been looking for...we figured Pixar Place would be the place to find it if we were going to find it at all. (We didn’t.) I’m not sure exactly what happened, but the two older boys were behaving inappropriately at one point and Jeff kind of just flew off the handle. He really blew it way out of proportion, making it a bigger deal than it was. (If you ask him now, he’ll tell you he was being a JERK!) That got me all upset so I jumped in, which then just made Jeff lash out at me....UGH..this is going from BAD to WORSE! I was upset that he was so uptight, that he overreacted, that the kids had to watch us argue...you name it, I was upset about it. I tried to just move on, but he could tell I was not OK...I was emotional and teary through most of dinner and can’t even really remember what we ate. :sad1: He was very apologetic, both to me, and to the boys. He is very good about coming back after a big meltdown like that and being sure he lets all of us know how sorry he is and that he knows he was wrong to react to the anxiety and stress in such a way.

The boys asked to go off and play some video games, so Jeff gave them some money and he and I were able to sit and talk and try to come down off the emotional roller coaster! It really helped and I felt much better after a while. Anxiety is a tough thing to handle..I see it in Dan and I see it in Jeff and sometimes it just gets the better of them. Fortunately, this was the only issue we had all week.

We did end up enjoying Pizza Planet...I do remember that we got salad which was so good! I love my veggies! Once we all collected ourselves, I was able to get some pics of the boys enjoying the arcade.

This is the view from our table...we sat in the upper part of the restaurant.

It was getting late and we wanted to be in line for the 8:30 Fantasmic! show by 7:30, so we said good-bye to Pizza Planet. I needed a little alone time so I sent Jeff and the boys ahead to use the RnRC FP’s we had not used earlier. I told them I’d meet them at the entrance to the Fantasmic! theater. I also wanted to get a spicy jalapeno pretzel to enjoy during the show and I could do that on my way! :thumbsup2 It was nice to just stroll through the park on my own. The AIE was just doing it’s final show for the day and they had it playing on the big screen outside the theater....lots of people were standing around watching. Very cool! I got my pretzel and headed toward the other side of the park and my waiting family. Here are a few random pictures I took on my little stroll

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m1/missyp_02/ThursdayDHS--Disney200963.jpg.

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m1/missyp_02/ThursdayDHS--Disney200964.jpg

I met the boys as planned at the entrance to the theater and we began to make our way inside. Now I had heard all the stories about the crazy crowds...get there an hour early, be prepared to stand, etc. So....there we were....an hour before showtime heading into the theater. I was pretty darn proud of us, until we heard this over the loudspeakers.

“To those guests entering the theater, please be aware that we are at STANDING ROOM ONLY for the 8:30 show.”

WHAAAAATTT???????

It was only 7:35! That couldn’t possibly be the case. I had done everything right! Surely they must be mistaken.

NOPE! We were directed to the far left side of the stadium to the Standing Room section. As we were being herded there, we saw a CM pointing out a section on the FAR other side of the theater that had some seats...we followed her lead.....UNTIL we were turned away and told we had to go to the SRO section. UGH!! After criss-crossing the entire theater twice, we ultimately ended up on the far RIGHT side of the theater in the section for standers. (It’s a good thing Jeff got his meltdown out of his system, because this was certainly prime conditions for one!) Here is a photo I took looking over the crowd from where we stood.

My time stamp for this picture says 7:56.
http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m1/missyp_02/ThursdayDHS--Disney200970.jpg

The area was like big, wide steps. There was room to sit down, but they kept coming and telling us we had to STAND....whatever! Most of us sat while we waited for the show to start. Here is a pic of the boys enjoying their glow sticks while they wait. NOTE.....Jeff looks very relaxed!

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m1/missyp_02/ThursdayDHS--Disney200971.jpg

Once the show began, we did end up standing so we could see. We were way far away, but the view wasn’t too bad. The worst part was that we couldn’t see the parts of the show on the water very well...so the boats during the Pocahontas scene, etc. were tough to see. I didn’t take a lot of pictures for 2 reasons. They never turn out very well because I have not yet mastered the night-time photo and also because we were fairly far away. I did take a couple...here they are!

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m1/missyp_02/ThursdayDHS--Disney200972.jpg

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m1/missyp_02/ThursdayDHS--Disney200965.jpg

We really love this show and even from far away it was amazing! As it ended, we gathered up our belongings and jumped into the mass of people exiting the theater. The boys wanted to ride ToT again, so I told them if the stand-by line was 30 minutes or less we would. It was 50 minutes so we made our way to the exit. But first a night photo of the creepy Hollywood Tower Hotel!

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m1/missyp_02/ThursdayDHS--Disney200966.jpg

The line for the 10:00 show of Fantasmic! wound all the way down Sunset Boulevard and continued to the intersection of Sunset Boulevard and Hollywood Boulevard. INSANE!!

On our way out, we had this PhotoPass pic taken.

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m1/missyp_02/ThursdayDHS--Disney200967.jpg

When we got back to POR, we had promised the boys we would take them to the main pool for a night swim. Dan opted to stay in and go to bed...that boy knows when to call it quits. If he’s tired, he goes to bed. Jeff and I took the other two to Ol’ Man Island for a dip.

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m1/missyp_02/ThursdayDHS--Disney200968.jpg

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m1/missyp_02/ThursdayDHS--Disney200969.jpg

Jeff and I went in the hot tub and I took of my TinkerBell watch so I could get in. Not surprisingly, I left it at the pool when we went back to the room.. After asking about it at the desk the next day with no luck, it became the ONE AND ONLY thing we lost that we never saw again. Now that we have officially LOST something, the keeper of lost things is satisfied and we go without losing another thing the rest of the vacation. Who knew?!

So.....the million dollar question I know you are all asking is “was it worth it to go to DHS on a Fantasmic! day?” Well....Fantasmic! is an amazing show and, no doubt, one of our favorites. The crowds at the park were worse than we saw at any other park the rest of the vacation, but they were manageable with a good strategy so that wasn’t really a problem. However, if I had known that in order to get a seat for the show you needed to be there at least 2 hours in advance, not 1, I may have done things differently. It’s hard to say. Sitting and WAITING for a show for 2 hours is questionable, no matter how good that show is. Let’s hope that Disney sees fit to add Fantasmic! back onto the schedule more than twice a week and maybe we won’t have to make that choice in the future!

Whew....another day complete! We are now on to Day 6 of our vacation and our FAVORITE PARK!! Stay tuned, thanks for reading, and have a very HAPPY 4th of JULY!

Loving your TR! Disney meltdowns are a very common thing; sounds like you guys handled it great!

So sorry about your Tink watch! Good excuse for another one....

I LOVE the story about the man ANSWERING HIS PHONE in CoP. Wha???? Our family is easily entertained as well, and I will never forget a trip we took in 2002 (before everyone in the world had a cell phone) and they had banks of pay phones in different locations around the park. We were at the entrance of Splash Mountain when a woman came tearing toward the pay phones in an absolute panic and started SCREAMING at the poor soul who answered, "Yes it's an emergency! THEY ARE COMPLETELY OUT OF FAST PASSES!" over and over as if it were the end of the world.

Needless to say, we have made a joke out of that one ever since.

Looking forward to reading more about your trip! You have a lovely family :)

Coming out of lurkdom.. :]

I'm glad you made a Fantasmic day in DHS manageable.. Oh the horror stories I've heard about Fantasmic days... Maybe I'll go to another park in the morning/afternoon, then hop over to DHS in the evening to see the show. Maybe. Depends on what my family's final plans end up being, seeing as October hours came out yesterday :]]]

I'm surprised you actually, really truly lost your Tink watch. You seemed to have so much luck misplacing something and finding it later. I guess losing that one watch is better than losing a wallet, cell phone, tickets, etc.

Have a good (and safe) Fourth of July!

I "waited" in that two hour line:headache:...we went t DHS with plans to do a couple of quick things and get a FP for TSM. But, Ashton & I ended up waiting in line while the older kiddies were getting dressed at the resort and Danny rode RnRC. I would not have minded but the show ended up being CX due to rain. After we sat in the rain and waited:headache:....

I melt down w/ anxiety & stress like Jeff...but,Danny or Gwendolyn usually don't know when to quit when I'm getting to a melting/breaking point:guilty: (Dayne on the other hand usually walks as far away as he can; if he sees it coming--LOL!:rotfl:)

:yay:So, from my standards of a day at Disney ya'll had a great day (even w/the meltdown)...and I love that ya'll ended the day by relaxing in the pool:cutie: --sorry about the watch, though; I love how Isaiah can power nap anywhere

Have a great weekend :smickey:

glad you got that post in....

hope you have a good night's sleep before your early drive tomorrow!

I understand that anxiety flare-up...

I'm glad it got under control quick and you were feeling better soon albiet after a little salad and walk alone. Though your walk to meet your family at F! sounded more enjoyable then my hurried run after the soy-milk issue.

Holy Smokes on the F! crowd...

I think it all flows too w/ day of week and time of year, because we did the whole F! day thing too and got there just under an hour and there was still room to spare, I'm not positive, but I don't recall all the SRO filled or used either.

Maybe the trick is too go on a F! day w/ rain...scare off a bunch of people.

Well I'm glad you saw it and still enjoyed your time, and that was nice you still got the night time swim in too.

But what a bummer about your Tink watch...isn't that how it always is though ;)

Hope you can get a new one!

Have a great 4th and looking forward to your favorite PARK day!

Even with the meltdown and lost watch, it sounds like the day ended on a good note.

John has some problems with crowds because of his epilepsy and I can always tell when it's about to become a problem. He becomes super irritable and I know to just find a place to sit and let it pass. Thankfully, he'sonly had a semi-meltdown once while at Disney.

I hate that you lost your Tinkerbell watch. Like a previous poster said, maybe you can use that as an excuse to go back to Disney and buy another one. Like we need an excuse.:lmao:

Have a safe trip driving to your brother's house and have a great July 4th!

Hi Missy! Great update - Thanks for sharing the good, bad & ugly! DH & I have those sorts of meltdowns on a regular basis. He snaps at the kids, I jump in, he gets mad at me for jumping in, I just want him to calm down, he wants me to stop talking and let it go, but I can't so I keep talking... it can turn ugly fast - and you'd think I would have figured out by now to just keep my mouth shut, let him freak out, let him apologize and move on... :rolleyes1 I feel your pain!

I can't believe you finally lost something!! I suppose a watch is a better thing to lose than a wallet or cell phone - but still a bummer!

Yikes to F! :scared1: I can't believe SRO by 7:30 - I'm so glad we skipped it this year!

I hope you guys slept late the next morning! :goodvibes

But you guys pulled through it and it sounds like all in all you had a great day!! (and you got so much accomplished!!:thumbsup2)

Wow!! I can't believe those Fantasmic crowds. We really want to see the show but I'm not sure I would want to get there 2 hours before it starts just to get a seat.....hmm...:confused3

First...thanks for coming out of lurkdom to say hello! :thumbsup2

The watch was definitely the least of our worries! It can be replaced easily...believe it or not, I STILL have not replaced it! :confused3

Oh man...2 hours and NO SHOW?? That would have been irritating to say the least! I should know at this point when to walk away, but I have this bad habit of wanting to try to reason with him...really at that point there is no reasoning and I really should just let it go and deal with it when he's calm. Someday I'll learn!

My walk was definitely more enjoyable than your sprint across the park! LOL! The F! crowds really were more than I expected, but we had a great day regardless. The night swim/hot tub soak was exactly what we needed. It really hit the spot, so to speak! :)

I sometimes get warning signs, but more often than not it's just immediate...everything's fine, then everything's not fine. That's what makes it so hard to judge! But...it really wasn't a deal breaker and we were able to recover fairly quickly. After seeing how it affected me, he was very aware the rest of the week and we didn't repeat the incident. ;)

Another great update. I'm sorry to hear about the meltdown. In my family I'm the one who usually melts down.

Sorry about your Tink watch. I hope you bought yourself a new one. You were in the right place.

I have never eaten at Backlot Express. I have no idea why? Oh, well now I can add that to my next list of things to do.

Have a great weekend.

I looked for a new one at WDW, but, believe it or not, couldn't find one I liked. I need to look online and see if I can find one...I've been without a watch now for over 2 months!

Backlot Express was good...lots of seating and nice location. Good variety of food. I'd recommend giving it a try!

Have you been hiding out in my house and watching our meltdowns?? You describe them perfectly. Honestly, sometimes if I just was able to keep my mouth shut and walk away things would diffuse much faster. BUT...NO....I have to run my mouth...right or not I need to bite my tongue more! Thanks for understanding!

I couldn't believe it either. I really thought they were mistaken. Given the circumstances, I would probably make a different decision next time if the F! schedule remains as it is.

That crowd was crazy! It's hard to believe that you had to stand when you were an hour early. Then for the line to be so long for the second show.... it must have just been a packed park that day. You guys accomplished a lot considering the crowds!

We really did get everything done that we wanted....it pays to have a good strategy! :thumbsup2

Happy 4th of July!!! Have a great weekend!!

Thanks...I'm just glad we were able to get past it and enjoy the rest of the evening. We really had a great day and I wanted it to end on a positive note.

I'm not sure if time of year had anything to do with the crowds..we were at the very TAIL end of Spring Break. I'd do a little research on the Theme Parks and Strategies board and see what things are looking like more recently. If you haven't seen F!, I'd hate for you to miss it! It's a great show...but 2 hours?? That would depend on your family's tolerance!

Great update Missy!

Sorry about the meltdown. It happens...to many of us. :rolleyes1 I am the anxious/freak out person in our family and Matt is the calm one. My mom and I were discussing tonight that I seriously think I have an anxiety disorder. Unfortunately Will (DS7) seems to have inherited it from me. We haven't looked into any kind of medication or therapy or anything yet, but it seems to be getting worse as he gets older and other people are noticing (he has habits...things he does when he gets anxious...and one of them is, um, messing with his, uh, pee pee...and all of the parents on his baseball team know it because they've all seen it). I've also been in situations myself where I just LOSE IT and really regret it afterward. Matt usually knows when it's coming...but not always. I'm glad you guys were able to work it out.

We are not planning to see F! this time around for that very reason. Matt loves it and is a little sorry we're not seeing it and Cole, of course, has never seen it, but I just can't work in a park day that's going to be super packed to see Fantasmic. We might hop over to see it on our last night, but seriously, I doubt it. I'm glad you guys got to see it anyway.

Hope you all have a great 4th (and all of your readers do too!)and have a safe trip!

Can't wait to hear about your favorite park. :goodvibes

Let me just tell you, I have cried every single trip I've ever gone to Disney! I hate that, too. Each trip I take, I think, this one is gonna be great, then something always happens and I end up crying like a big baby! And the funny thing is, I don't cry a lot at home, it takes a lot to make me upset. But at Disney, when you're utterly exhausted, it's just not that hard to get the water works goin'!!!!

And me and DH ALWAYS end up in an argument in WDW. Without fail... :scared:

Glad the day turned out great despite the momentary meltdown. And :scared1: at the crowds! Good Grief! Looks like Disney NEEDS to put that show in for more than just two days. :sad2:

Hey Missy!

I'm still tossing around whether to avoid DHS on Fantasmic! night... We've all seen the show twice... I'm with you, I hope that Disney adds more showings. It really affects the crowd levels... I think we'll try to avoid it. ::yes::

And I've certainly had my share of teary moments at WDW with Ed, so I know how you felt.

Here it goes..the “Missy and Jeff had a meltdown at Disney” update!

Awww, that doesn't sound overly horrible  I'm glad it all worked out in the end though!

And there's the key right there :thumbsup2

This boy ALWAYS wears what he eats!
http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m1/missyp_02/ThursdayDHS--Disney200960.jpg

LOL, that's Tigger too :rotfl2:

How lovely to be able to enjoy a solitary stroll :woohoo:

“To those guests entering the theater, please be aware that we are at STANDING ROOM ONLY for the 8:30 show.”

Nooooooooooooo! :scared1: Better not happen in September! :scared1:

Once the show began, we did end up standing so we could see. We were way far away, but the view wasn’t too bad. The worst part was that we couldn’t see the parts of the show on the water very well...so the boats during the Pocahontas scene, etc. were tough to see. I didn’t take a lot of pictures for 2 reasons. They never turn out very well because I have not yet mastered the night-time photo and also because we were fairly far away. I did take a couple...here they are!

I'm glad everyone was able to enjoy the show

The line for the 10:00 show of Fantasmic! wound all the way down Sunset Boulevard and continued to the intersection of Sunset Boulevard and Hollywood Boulevard. INSANE!!

:scared1: again!

This is Isaiah on the bus ride “home.” CLASSIC!

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m1/missyp_02/ThursdayDHS--Disney200967.jpg

Bahahaha, that's Mickey! :lmao:

When we got back to POR, we had promised the boys we would take them to the main pool for a night swim. Dan opted to stay in and go to bed...that boy knows when to call it quits. If he’s tired, he goes to bed. Jeff and I took the other two to Ol’ Man Island for a dip.

Sounds like a perfect end to a busy day :wizard:

Jeff and I went in the hot tub and I took of my TinkerBell watch so I could get in. Not surprisingly, I left it at the pool when we went back to the room.. After asking about it at the desk the next day with no luck, it became the ONE AND ONLY thing we lost that we never saw again. Now that we have officially LOST something, the keeper of lost things is satisfied and we go without losing another thing the rest of the vacation. Who knew?!

I'm sorry you lost your Tink watch :sad2: Another reason to return to Disney though!

So.....the million dollar question I know you are all asking is “was it worth it to go to DHS on a Fantasmic! day?” Well....Fantasmic! is an amazing show and, no doubt, one of our favorites. Hello lovely lady! Being as busy as I've been, I feel like I'm missing everyone!

I know that just the humidity and crowds alone make me crazy so I can only imagine how Jeff felt. I'm glad you guys were able to work through it and not let it affect the rest of the day.

As someone who has never actually seen Fantasmic, I know this probably means nothing. But, there's no way I'd wait that long to see the show. Glad you guys still enjoyed it. You're troopers! :thumbsup2

And that stinks about the watch, but like you said - you guys are lucky that it's the only thing that "stayed" lost!

Hey girl! I was behind for a while thanks to summer keeping me away from the boards but I'm back and all caught up!

Loved all the pictures once again! We got our photopass in front of the hat right after that Fantasmic showing too but we're not in your photo LOL We were in the saw B&tB show as you too! Wasn't the Fantasmic situation crazy?! Luckily we had the Fantasmic dinner package because we got to the theater around 7:30 too and it was, as you know, standing room only! I was shockeddd! I keep telling people that I really do recommend the dinner package if you wanna see the show or else you will have to get there 2 hours early to get a good seat!

Regardless of the meltdown, it still seems like you had a great day! Disney is very high stress, meltdowns are sure to happen. I remember when I went in 2007 I got into a huge fight with my Aunt while we were waiting for our ressies at Coral Reef; that was indeed an uncomfortable dinner. But somehow Disney always makes things better and fights get put in the past. :goodvibes Great update, can't wait to hear about the next day!

I am the one in our household who has the meltdowns. I think I did pretty well last trip though, I don't remember ever having one. But, when I get tired, I have to rest. I can't just keep going. I am glad everything worked out, but too bad about Fantasmic. At least you got to see it from afar. My husband didn't get to see it because my 6 yr. old son was scared to death. I am thinking he may take after his mother with the anxiety issues.

Jeff does not do well in crowds or in situations where he feels he needs to do many things at one time. Disney is challenging for him because it is ALL of those things!
Oh boy, can I ever relate. You've just described both Leo and my mother, and to a lesser degree, me. Yeah, we're a fun bunch in a crowd, lol!

It’s a good thing Jeff got his meltdown out of his system, because this was certainly prime conditions for one!)

Huge bummer about your Tinkerbell watch!

Thanks for posting how early you arrived Fantasmic...that is good info.

I agree I don't know if I would want to spend more than an hour waiting in line...URG!

I'm so spoiled at Disney with FP's and DIS strategies....we rarely wait in line for longer than 15-20 minutes so it seems a bit excessive!

Love the update!! Glad to hear that your family bickering didn't last long and that you were able to see Fantasmic! If you remember from my TR, we waited in line to see F! for over an hour in the pouring rain and lightening and never got to see it--definitely on our list for next time! I'm so sorry to hear that you lost your Tink watch--that stinks! Oh--and I love your family photopass pic--love the nighttime shot!

If you've never seen F!, I'd say suck it up and go for it! That stinks that you waited and didn't even get to see the show. :sad2:

Yeah...I really liked that Tink watch. Obviously, as I have not yet found one I like as well to replace it!

Great update Missy!

Sorry about the meltdown. It happens...to many of us. I am the anxious/freak out person in our family and Matt is the calm one.

Anxiety is so hard because for those of us who don't suffer from it, it's hard to understand. I say.."just calm down, it's not a big deal", but to him, it really is and he physically can't "calm down". Tough one.

Funny that you mention the "pee-pee" issue! One of mine, and I won't mention names to protect the innocent (LOL), does the same thing. We are constantly reminding him to keep his hands off of it! :rotfl:

Here's hoping Disney adds more shows so this F! issue goes away!

Glad the day turned out great despite the momentary meltdown. And :scared1: at the crowds! Good Grief! Looks like Disney NEEDS to put that show in for more than just two days.

There's always bound to be a bump in the road on vacation. With all 5 of us together 24/7 in a crowded, hot, tiring situation it was only a matter of time! We ended up moving past it and enjoying the rest of the evening!:goodvibes

Hey Missy!

I'm still tossing around whether to avoid DHS on Fantasmic! night... We've all seen the show twice... I'm with you, I hope that Disney adds more showings. It really affects the crowd levels... I think we'll try to avoid it.

And I've certainly had my share of teary moments at WDW with Ed, so I know how you felt.

Kathy

I don't think I would do DHS again on a F! considering we have all seen it twice. Unless, of course, things with the schedule change.

Thanks for the hug.

Awww, that doesn't sound overly horrible  I'm glad it all worked out in the end though!

Me Too!

And there's the key right there :thumbsup2

Absolutely...once we all cool down and stop being so angry, the talking is the key!

LOL, that's Tigger too

Never fails with that boy...you know what he had to eat by looking at his face!

How lovely to be able to enjoy a solitary stroll

It really was nice...and much needed!

Nooooooooooooo! :scared1: Better not happen in September!

Brace yourself!

I'm glad everyone was able to enjoy the show

Even from that distance, it's a great show!

:scared1: again!

I was too!

Bahahaha, that's Mickey! :lmao:

King of the Power Nap!

Sounds like a perfect end to a busy day :wizard:

:cloud9:

I'm sorry you lost your Tink watch :sad2: Another reason to return to Disney though!

Like I need a reason! LOL!

Seriously, better not happen in September
I'll cross my fingers for you!

Happy 4th of July to you! We had a great time on Canada Day on Wednesday, went to a big outdoor celebration - bbq, kids' games, etc. I hope you and your crew have a blast! :cheer2:

Sounds like fun! Thanks for reading Lisa!

Hi Carissa! I know how you feel about missing everyone. I am SO far behind on the TR's I have subscribed to and as far as an update on my own.....who knows!!

Thanks for stopping by to say hello! I miss ya!

I can't believe our paths crossed so many times and we never saw each other. I had a LGMH with my screen name on my bag. Crazy!

The dinner package was a good idea!

Great update, can't wait to hear about the next day!

A little Disney magic can fix about anything! :goodvibes

I think the anxiety is totally genetic. I blame Jeff's family! LOL!

Hey Missy! Loved your update! I can't believe out of all the things you guys lost at one point or another, the one thing that "stayed" lost was YOURS! Oh no!!!

I can so understand the meltdown/spat! Been there!

Phew - that was a doozy of a day! I can't believe you guys had the energy to then go down for a swim!!

Sara

My boys live for the night swim so we tried to do it as much as we could. It was one of their favorite memories from our 2007 trip...they couldn't wait to go back and go in the pool at night!

Oh boy, can I ever relate. You've just described both Leo and my mother, and to a lesser degree, me. Yeah, we're a fun bunch in a crowd, lol!

I'm having a meltdown just looking at that! :faint:

That F! crowd really was CRAZY!!

Hi, Missy! Hope you are having a fun-filled summer so far with those boys.

Looking forward to more of your Disney adventures (since I am vicariously living through your TR right now!!!!)

We are having a good summer.....SOOOOO busy though...barely time to DIS. :sad2:

Hi! I am subbing to your TR! I am really enjoying it so far Trying to get tips for mine...I just started and am new to DIS! Can't wait to read more!

Hi Katie and :welcome: The DIS is amazing and the best WDW resource there is! I hope you find some great tips you can use for your trip. (My PTR also has tons of planning tips if you are bored and want to read a gazillion pages! )

Ok faithful readers...here's the situation. I have been so busy getting the family ready for this camping trip (not to mention baseball and planning for VBS) that my DIS time has seriously taken a hit. :sad2: I know I need to post an update before I go and I am going to do my very best to get to it. BUT..if for some reason I don't, I know you all understand and will be here to join in again when I return. You guys are an AWESOME bunch! :grouphug:

Everyone please keep your fingers and toes crossed for good weather for us this next 10 days. We tent camp and there are a few days of scattered storms in the forecast. As long as they scatter somewhere else, I'll be fine! ;)

I hope everyone is enjoying their summer! It finally felt like summer here yesterday with the sun finally showing it's face and the temps in the 80s. But, like I said it looks like there is more rain coming and the temps are only supposed to be in the mid 70s all week. UGH! I hope the forecasters are wrong!

Here's a few pics of our trip to see my brothers and their families over the 4th of July. We don't often get all 9 cousins together so we made them pose for lots of pictures...they LOVED that! :headache: :rolleyes1

The cousins in line from oldest to youngest.

A rare picture of all three of us. Me and my 2 awesome brothers!

We took the kids to a Reading Phillies game on Sunday. My other brother lives about an hour away and only came up for the 4th. (that's why we only have the 6 cousins!)

I absolutely love tent camping and have been going every since I can remember. I've slept, well taken cover, in our tent many times during thunderstorms. Just remember.....don't touch the tent or it will leak! Learned that one the hard way.

The family pictures are absolutely adorable. Has anyone ever told you that you look like your grandmother? I think you do.

No worries, Missy. Your faithful readers will be here whenever you got an update ready. Just enjoy your camping trip with your family, you deserve it. I for one will be praying for decent weather for you guys.

VBS can keep you very busy! I wouldn't touch the Director's job with a 10 foot pole, there's so much work involved, so don't worry about us.

Thanks for the pictures of your extended bunch. What a great looking group of kids and how sweet that you got to spend time with grandma. My grandparents on my dad's side are 90 and 95 and still going strong and I feel very blessed.

Have a great trip!!

Awww...what wonderful picture you have. We have 9 all together too (with my sister's 3, my brother's 2, and my step-sister's 1, plus my 3) and time all together is so precious! The ones with your grandmother are wonderful! Moments to treasure for sure!!

Have a great time camping....my idea of camping is a Hampton Inn, so I give major kudos to anyone who will tent camp! I hope the weather is great for you!

We took a very similar picture last summer (the oldest who was 13 didn't get in it and my step-sister wasn't there, so it's just 7 kids) but it is one of my favorites....

Missy, it's great to "see" you!

I know you're excited about your camping trip and I'm excited for you. Can't wait to see pictures from THAT when you get back. :)

I love your family pictures. Isaiah is totally taller than both his brother and his cousin. What are you feeding that boy?!

And I thought Jonah's hair was dark for some reason but it looks kind of reddish/light brown (almost like my Will's). Am I seeing it wrong in this picture, or am I just remembering it wrong.

I'm looking forward to your next installment, but I can totally wait. We leave for World Series next Thursday and we'll be gone for almost a week too, so I'm with you on being behind. We'll all catch up. And we'll all be here. Gotta love the DIS!

Have a great time!

I was thinking she looked like her grandmother, too!!!!

OK...funny story! Now that two of you have mentioned that I look like my grandmother, I have to let you in on a little secret. Long story..stick with me! My mother divorced my alcoholic abusive biological father when I was 6. When I was 8, a wonderful man married my mom and adopted both my brother and I. That picture is of HIS mom. LOL! So no blood there....but it gets better! When my dad (not bio father) was 4, his biological mother died suddenly and the woman you see in my pics is the woman who remarried his father and adopted my dad and all of his siblings! SO....no blood twice removed!! But thank you all for the compliments! :)

Awww...what wonderful picture you have. We have 9 all together too (with my sister's 3, my brother's 2, and my step-sister's 1, plus my 3) and time all together is so precious! The ones with your grandmother are wonderful! Moments to treasure for sure!!

And Isaiah is definitely the biggest of the cousins! I have trouble keeping that boy in clothes that fit!

Of course, we'll be here when you return.

And, went you get a minute (which I realize will be a while) come catch up on my trip report. I've done quite a few installments. It suddenly hit me that I'd be going to Disney in just 2 weeks and I had to finish up.

I can not believe that there is no blood relation between you and your grandmother 'cause ya'll really do look alike.

Missy!! Glad you're back and had a great time. Looking forward to hearing more about it when you "dig out". Our VBS is next week, and one of my best buddies is the director. It's stress time for her. My part is much less stress inducing so I'm helping her where I can, but its a big job. I'll pray for your sanity!:rotfl:

Hey Missy! :welcome: back!

Glad you had such a good time. We went "camping" for the first time this past weekend (we were actually at a campground, but it was about a mile from my house). We had a good time.

I can't wait to hear about the camping...and I'm looking forward to your next Disney installment soon. ;)

I know you're busy. We'll be here when you're ready!

Well, I‘ve been back from our camping trip for over a week now and, although I still feel overwhelmed with all of the things on my plate, I wanted to post a mini-TR for all of you to enjoy. I miss DISing with you all....UGH! Vacation Bible School is the next big project on my radar and once that is over, I will feel more free to spend time catching up on TR’s I am subscribed to as well as getting a Disney update posted! I am the VBS Director and so the few weeks before the actual program are the busiest and most stressful for me trying to be sure everything is planned, staffed, purchased, etc! It’s a HUGE job, but I really do love it....don’t ask me right now though...I’ll tell you I’m NEVER doing it again! ;)

Anyway....on to the mini-TR from our annual camping trip.

We camp every year in Brooktondale, NY, just outside of Ithaca. It is about 2 ½ hours from our house and a gorgeous area of New York State. Our church district owns a campground there and every year there is a Family Camp in July. Kind of like a camp for kids or teenagers, but this one is for families. Families from all over our Upstate New York District gather together on the grounds for the week. We have been going for about 8 years....Jonah has practically grown up on that campground! We love all of the people and have good friends that we really only see during camp. It is an awesome time and a priority for our family every year.

We tent camp, so you can imagine that getting a family of 5 (plus my nephew Josh and Isaiah’s friend....so 7) ready to live outdoors for 10 days is no small feat. :scared: The weather forecast was not promising so I was fully expecting a few wet days.

We finally got all our gear packed up and we arrived on the campground at about 2:30 on Saturday July 11th. We knew that the forecast was calling for rain, but we seemed to have avoided it so far. We decided to set up our canopy first as that way, if it did rain, we would have a place to stay dry! We got that set up and no sooner did we start unloading the tents from the van when it started to RAIN!! UGH! We tried to wait it out, but it was just a light rain and the clouds looked ominous. It was obviously not going to get better, so we figured we better take the opportunity to set up the tents. We have 2 tents..one for Jeff and I and one for the boys. Now the boys’ tent is actually 3 tents...2 small tents connected by a screened-in room in the middle. We LOVE this tent and it has served our family well! We got our tent all set up as the boys worked on theirs. Everything was going as smoothly as possible considering the rain, when we realized that the zipper on the boys’ tent (one that attached the tent to the screen room) was broken. Now...had it been dry, we may have been able to fight with it and fix it, but at this point the rain was beginning to pick up and there was no fixing this zipper. Like I said, the tent is fairly old. One of the rain-fly poles was also broken and it wasn’t the most watertight tent around. SO....with more rain in the forecast for the week, we decided it would just be a better idea all around to scrap this tent and head to Wal-Mart and get a new one. It would be worth the money just to be dry all week and not to fight with the stupid zipper in the rain! :thumbsup2

Now...this little side trip to Wal-Mart could have been avoided if the boys had done what they were asked to do while we were still at home. They had been told to set up the tents in the yard to air them out and to be sure everything was working. They did set them up, but didn’t connect the 3 parts of their tent.....kind of defeated the purpose, don’t you think?? But I digress.....:rolleyes1

So....off to Wal-Mart we go...in the rain...with our camp not even close to being set up.....to buy a new tent.

Not the best start to our trip...but we were on vacation and we all really tried to be upbeat. The rain did stop while we were on our shopping trip, so we were able to come back and finish setting up camp. Now, I don’t feel at all settled until all the tents are set up with the air mattress, sleeping bags, pillows, etc, and the “kitchen” is set up with the picnic tables, stove and dish area. It’s kind of like not feeling settled in the resort at Disney until the luggage is unpacked and stowed. We were WAY behind schedule, but it all eventually got done. Whew!! Time to enjoy camp!

This is a pic of our little “compound” with our tents and “kitchen” area.
http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m1/missyp_02/IMG_2748.jpg

This is how Jeff transported our picnic table to our site. I told him it was a bad idea, but he was insistent....and don’t you know it worked! I hate it when he is right!

I’m not going to go through each day, but we did some really fun things. We took a trip to Taughannock Falls State Park one day and walked the gorge trail and went swimming in Cayuga Lake. (Of course, this was the one other day all week it rained!) Here are a few pics of us at the park.

Isaiah enjoying the falls.

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m1/missyp_02/IMG_2682.jpg

The falls are absolutely beautiful. We walk the trail along the gorge until we get to the falls and then we walk in the gorge on the way back. It’s so fun to walk over the rocks and cool off in the water!

The beautiful Taughannock Falls.

There was also a Horseshoe Tournament one day that Jeff participated in with his dad. His parents didn’t come for the whole week, but they came and spent the day with us. It was cool that they could play in the tournament together. Here’s Jeff taking his turn.

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m1/missyp_02/IMG_2640.jpg

We also spent a lot of time just relaxing and enjoying our friends. Here are a few pics of some of our camp buddies!

Hanging out around the campfire.

Jeff is very relaxed!

Isaiah and his best camp buddy Isaac. These two are like two peas in a pod!
http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m1/missyp_02/IMG_2765.jpg

The other thing we always do is visit a little swimming spot called “the Mill”. It’s just along the street and hidden by the trees. There is a swimming hole and a cool waterfall with a deep natural pool below it. The boys like to slide down the waterfall into the pool. We love it here on a hot day...we didn’t get too many days I would consider hot, but we had to go anyway!

Jonah enjoying the cool water.

Isaiah “riding” the falls.
http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m1/missyp_02/IMG_2653.jpg

Although this was supposed to be “family camp”, Dan spent as little time as possible with his family! Here is a picture of about all we saw of Dan all week...his backside as he headed off with his friends!
http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m1/missyp_02/IMG_2767.jpg

And here are a few final pics of Jeff and Josh getting the bike tied on the roof of the van to head home (the other 3 went on the bike rack) and the family in front of the campground sign.

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m1/missyp_02/IMG_2784.jpg

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m1/missyp_02/IMG_2785.jpg

We had an awesome time, and in spite of the scary forecast, only 2 days with any rain. The temps were cool (in the 70s), but the sun was nice and warm. It’s always nice to go and just relax with no agenda or list of “To-Do’s”!

I hope you enjoyed my little mini-TR and that it will hold you over till I can get back to the Disney trip!

Thanks for reading!

The Ithaca area is really beautiful. The gorges and waterfalls are breathtaking.

We've gone some years and been UNCOMFORTABLY hot...but this year the temps were really nice. A bit cool in the evening, so the fire was nice! In years past we have been sitting around the fire sweating wondering why on earth we were sitting around a FIRE! But it's what you do....camping isn't camping without the fire and s'mores! :)

Great Mini-TR!! The only thing I think of when I read it was RELAXING! Ok maybe not the part with the tent. :scared1:

The RELAXING is what we love most about camp. There are activities available, but for the most part it is very chill and all about the relationships built around the fire or sitting around the picnic table. So nice!

I don't think we'd ever take the tenting production that far on the road! I might do the FW cabins, but probably not the tent. It's just a LOT of stuff to transport! Plus...I'd never get Jeff to drive to Florida!

The setting up and tearing down are definitely the worst parts...that's why we like to take longer trips. It seems like too much work for just a day or two!

Missy:

I loved the mini-trip report of your camping trip. I've been tent camping every since I was a little girl and love it. When I got married, I took my husband camping and he fell in love with it too. Then, when the kids came along, we took them. Nothing compares to lying in a tent listening to the sounds of nature all around you. Peaceful!

The campground you stayed in was absolutely gorgeous. What I wouldn't give for something that pretty being just 2 1/2 hours away. We have to drive at least 4 hours to find a campground that's pretty.

Our church has an annual family vacation too but it's in Florida in August and they rent out condos. By the time we pay for our Disney vacation, we can't afford the costs. Oh well, at least we have Disney.

Thanks for the report and good luck with vacation Bible school.

It is now Day 6 of our vacation, for those keeping track that would make it Friday April 24th, 2009. The plan for the day is to FINALLY hit our FAVORITE park.....EPCOT!!! YAY! :yay::yay: This year I decided to adopt a new touring strategy for Epcot and do WS on one day and FW on another. We always feel rushed through WS and I was hoping that by devoting an entire day there, we would not feel that way this time. Our plan for the day:

*Epcot has evening EMH hours tonight so our plan was to take advantage of those.

*Tour FW from 9am-11am (before WS opens)

*enter WS at 11:00 (get KimPossible FP at International Gateway–thanks to Carissa’s advice :thumbsup2)

*eat lunch in WS–leave park mid-afternoon to go to POR for a swim break

*return to Epcot around dinner time and continue touring WS

*tour some FW attractions during EMH

*finish evening in WS

We woke up around 7 and ate a quick breakfast of pop-tarts, cereal, and coffee in our room. We arrived at Epcot just after 9:00 and entered Future World. Now...I really had no “touring plan” for the day...I had a list of things we wanted to do, but no special order or plan to do them. It’s my first experience with the “ I can’t believe I don’t have a touring plan” Touring Plan. This did not sit well at all with my son Dan. He is a planner like his mom and he kept wanting to know what the plan was...”let me see the card, mom.” He means my index card of the day’s plan which usually includes an order of the day’s planned activities. Today’s card said pretty much what you just read above. I kept telling him the plan was that we had no plan....we were going to do whatever caught our fancy until 11 then we were going to approach the WS the exact same way! We knew we had 2+ days at this park so we were in no rush. Poor Dan would have to muddle through somehow!!

On entering the park, these three ladies caught my eye. Beautiful aren’t they?

As we meandered our way into the park we decided to check out Innoventions West. Now, we had not even set foot in either Innoventions building on our 2007 trip, so this was all new to us. As we entered the beautifully air conditioned building I was struck by how EMPTY it was. I’m sure most people passed right by on their way to The Land pavilion to get the coveted Soarin’ fastpasses! The CM’s inside were literally waiting (begging) for someone to come and play! The first thing we spotted was a KimPossible kiosk and, thanks to great advice from my good DISfriend Carissa, we stopped to get a FP for our KP mission. We got a FP that told us to report to Norway at 11:00 AM. SWEET! :)

The next thing that grabbed the boys attention was a game that allowed you to put yourself into a video game. I can’t remember what it was called, but this thing was WAY COOL! :cool1: The boys (Jeff included) each stood in their own booth and followed onscreen commands as the computer captured images of them running, jumping and doing the “victory dance”. Then they were led to a computer terminal where they uploaded the game and began playing. The character in the game was YOU! It showed the boys running, jumping over obstacles, and doing the victory dance when a level was completed. My boys absolutely LOVED this...and although I am not a big gamer myself, I thought it was so fun to see them onscreen as a video game character. You could email yourself the game so you could play at home, but sadly only Isaiah’s came through correctly. Here are a few shots of the boys morphing into video game heroes!

After conquering the cyber-world, we headed over to this attraction to help make the real world safer.

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m1/missyp_02/FridayEpcot--Disney200921.jpg

This area was set up as a game show. Those of us in the line, just us and one other family, were divided into two teams. I can’t remember how exactly, but we were split up...Jonah and Isaiah were with me and Jeff was with Dan and another person. The object was to find all of the fire hazards in the make-believe house. The area was divided into “rooms” and each room had a large screen. On the screen was a picture of the room with some obvious and not-so obvious fire hazards. Each team member had a large flashlight and once all three members of the team shone the light at the fire hazard, you got points for it. :firefight As the time lapsed, the hazards would begin catching fire if they were not caught and you could no longer get points for that hazard. There was a time limit and at the end of each room we were told where to go next. It really required some teamwork and cooperation to get each person to shine the light in the same place! NICE! :thumbsup2

Once the game was over, we all gathered back at the front of the house to find out who won the game. Sadly, Jeff’s team won, but it was really fun! (Even though I hate to lose!)

As we exited, the boys wanted a picture on the firetruck.
http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m1/missyp_02/FridayEpcot--Disney200920.jpg

We wandered around Innoventions a bit more...we played musical instruments with robots, played some traditional video games, made velcro creations, watched the Segway training.....then re-entered the hot sun of Future World on our way to The Land. Our goal? Soarin’ fastpasses to be used later, of course! ::yes::

The Land was crowded as was expected and we quickly made our way to the FP machines to claim our FP’s. We planned to come back later in the afternoon, on our way out of the park, to ride. Our next stop was one of my favorite things to do at Epcot. The Living with the Land boat ride. I just love this ride....I hate gardening and have no green thumb, but this ride fascinates me. I love to look at the plants growing in the experimental greenhouses and learn about all the innovative methods they are using to grow food. I’m a sucker for the educational, I guess! :rolleyes1 But believe it or not, my boys really enjoy this ride as well. We jumped in line and waited for our boat to pick us up. Here are a few shots of our ride.

Sadly we reach the end of the boat ride and disembark. It is now about 11:00 and time to head to WS for our KimPossible Adventure. But not before we make one little pit stop!

Up next...faces only a mother could love!

Hey Missy. Thanks for the update! EPCOT is my favorite park and I really appreciate the pictures of Livin With The Land because I just discovered it's going to be closed during our trip. :sad2: I'd prepared myself for Space Mountain, but this is just too much. Will loves Livin With The Land.

Oh well. What can you do? :confused3

We've been to Innoventions several times, but the exhibits there change every so often and it sounds like there are some new ones. When we went for Will's 4th birthday there was this really cool one where you could play baseball. Will was just, well 4, obviously, so he just did okay. I'd love to see him do that one now (though I don't think it's there anymore)! We'll have to check out the current exhibits.

Looking forward to the rest and good luck with VBS next week!

Hey Missy, great update! That's so funny about Dan asking to see your "card". I took a page from your book and made itinerary cards also and my oldest kept asking to see my card!:rotfl: I can completely relate with Dan, though. No plan?:scared1: Whatever will we do?

Innoventions really looks fun. I honestly had not the foggiest idea what was inside those buildings. Sadly, my kids would have loved playing there. LOVE Isaiah's booty dance!:rotfl:

Good eye with the hidden Mickey in Livin with the Land!

Sounds like you guys had a fun camping trip! I am not the camping kind of girl...just being in grass make me itch...and I am not a girly girl by no means.

Loved the EPCOT update too! :thumbsup2

Yeah!! Missy!!! Great Update. You are a braver person than I to go w/o a plan. Even if I didn't have one written down, I would have one in my head. :rotfl2:

DH and I like Livin with the Land as well. We have to drag the girls on each time. They always say, "Well, at least it's not IASW?"

Good luck with VBS.

YAY! An EPCOT update! Seriously, I didn't know that any of the things you described above was there. Now, I want to go back and check it out. DS4 would totally love being put in a video game!

I didn't think I'd like living with the land, but in March, when we rode, it was a totally enjoyable experience! I surprised myself. Hey, I liked your Hidden Mickey, too. :thumbsup2

Not much you can do, but be thankful you're at Disney and MOVE ON!

We really enjoyed Innoventions West but never made it into the other building. My kids really enjoyed it and because there was no crowd, they were able to do whatever they found interesting. I had heard that sometimes it's so crowded you have to wait forever for a turn.

VBS starts Monday..it will be a fun week, but I'm glad it will be over! Then I can take a breather and start DISing again!

I know! I was very worried myself, but it worked out great! I had a "skeleton" plan..bare bones, but it was nice to just take our time and go with the flow a bit. That's not as easy with limited time, but we had planned for at LEAST 2, maybe 3 days at Epcot so we felt more relaxed. I'm glad you were able to use the card idea..it works great for us! :thumbsup2

Innoventions really looks fun. I honestly had not the foggiest idea what was inside those buildings. Sadly, my kids would have loved playing there. LOVE Isaiah's booty dance!:rotfl:

Yeah...camping's not for everyone, I get it! I grew up doing it though so it's just something I naturally passed on to the kids. I'm glad it's something we all can enjoy together!

Yeah!! Missy!!! Great Update. You are a braver person than I to go w/o a plan. Even if I didn't have one written down, I would have one in my head. :rotfl2:

Oh I had a "plan"....just not a detailed one like usual. I would never hit a park with NO PLAN whatsoever...that's Disney park suicide! :scared1:

DH and I like Livin with the Land as well. We have to drag the girls on each time. They always say, "Well, at least it's not IASW?"

Good luck with VBS.

LOL! Oh well...at least you get to ride!

Thanks for the well-wishes. Actually, the week we actually do VBS is less stressful for me than the weeks leading up to it! I'm looking forward to seeing all the hard work come together for a great week for the kids! :goodvibes

If you have time, I'd suggest hitting Innoventions at some point. At park opening seemed a great time because it was empty. I would imagine in the heat of the day and once FPs are gone for Soarin', it can get very crowded and probably not as enjoyable!

I'm glad I'm not alone in my love of that boat ride! :)

We have yet to do Innoventions w/ the kids and it has changed so much probably from when we didn in back in the 90's...so I may have to take that into consideration and skip the big stuff and go there first thing when it would be less crowded and more enjoyable :thumbsup2

We always feel rushed through WS and I was hoping that by devoting an entire day there, we would not feel that way this time.

I always feel that way, too!

This did not sit well at all with my son Dan. He is a planner like his mom and he kept wanting to know what the plan was...”let me see the card, mom.” He means my index card of the day’s plan which usually includes an order of the day’s planned activities. Today’s card said pretty much what you just read above. I kept telling him the plan was that we had no plan....

Funny how some family members "rebel" at the plan, and other feel so much more comfortable having one! :confused3

(Billy's been verbally rattling off all the attractions he wants to see at each park using old park maps.... I just know he's got "virtual index cards" in his head!!)

As we meandered our way into the park we decided to check out Innoventions West..... The first thing we spotted was a KimPossible kiosk and, thanks to great advice from my good DISfriend Carissa, we stopped to get a FP for our KP mission.

I will be sure to recycle that advice and use it myself! :thumbsup2

The next thing that grabbed the boys attention was a game that allowed you to put yourself into a video game. I can’t remember what it was called, but this thing was WAY COOL! :cool1:

This strategy worked fairly well for us, but I've also heard of people doing the West side of the park one day (The Land, The Seas, Canada, UK..) then the East the other (TT, MS, Universe of Energy, Mexico, Norway).

I don't remember seeing the game that allows you to put yourself in the video game!! How did we miss this??:confused3 My boys would love it!! I will make a point of finding it when we head back!!

It was almost directly ahead as you entered the doors just past SSE. SO cool..your boys would get a kick out of it!

Hmmm....honestly I wish I could give you a better answer, but I have no idea what time the return window was for Soarin'. We had no intention of coming back to ride during that time..we planned all along to use them on our way out of the park mid-afternoon. (you know you can use them AFTER the return time, just not before, right?) SO...I guess the time must have been before 3 or so because I think we headed out of the park by 4. I think we picked them up around 10:30...I hope that is somewhat helpful.

Again, we were on our way to WS so we didn't plan to ride Soarin' at that time..just to get FPs and use them later. We don't usually stand in any stand-by line that is more than 30 minutes....unless FPs are not a possibility. The DIS has spoiled us! Sorry I couldn't be more helpful!

Hi Missy...

I really think park opening would be the best time because everyone else is rushing to get the big ticket attractions out of the way. Having 2+ days at Epcot really allowed us some freedom like that!

Thanks Kathy...so far my "not a touring plan" touring plan has served us well. And it is funny that Dan has TOTALLY embraced the touring index card..it's like he doesn't know what to do without it!

It was very hard to pull the boys from that game! They would have continued making new moves and playing the video game all morning! It was fun because you could record the moves until you liked the way they looked on screen...the boys had a blast trying new dances, jumps, etc!

Nope..not the Imagination pavilion..good guess though!

Thanks for the reply! It DOES help. I had no idea that you could use Fastpass at any time after the time on the pass!! Best tip anyone has given me:cool1:

Oh good, I'm glad I could help! I have NEVER had an issue with using a Fastpass AFTER the return time....I suppose if they wanted to be particular they could turn you away, but in 2 trips and many, many uses of FPs after the return window, I think that is rare if it happens at all. ;)

Now, my family had tasted the dreaded Beverly before, but I assure you that you are never really prepared for the bitter aftertaste that drink lays on you....the following pics are not staged, but very real! LOL! :rotfl:

First victim....Jonah! That smile won’t last long!

One more because they’re funny!
http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m1/missyp_02/FridayEpcot--Disney200912.jpg

I only taste the ones I know taste good...I’m no fool! ;) I like the watermelon one the best. My kids love Club Cool and I think we must have visited 3 or 4 times....I didn’t even go in the last time...I’d had enough! My boys (Jeff included) loved getting the newbies to taste Beverly by telling them how delicious it is....SUCKERS!! :lmao:

It was a gorgeous day and as we headed out into the beautiful sun and toward WS, we passed the spray fountain on the bridge...I think it has a name, but I can’t remember it for the life of me. Since today was a “no plan” day, we let the boys take off their shoes and play in the water. This area is usually packed, but today it was blissfully uncrowded!

Hi there- following along and really loving your TR! We will be hitting WDW about the same time as your trip report- April 10th -18th... can you give any insight about the crowds you experienced? We have always gone in October and loved it and feel a bit out of our element planning for Spring Break crowds. But definately looking forward to that beautiful Flower and Garden Festival!

Somehow I lost the link to your report and just found it again. I am glad that I did. It sounds like Epcot day is turning out to be a good one. I don't remember ever going into Innoventions. My son would love the video game thing. I can just imagine his victory dance. Maybe it would include booty shaking as well. I am excited to hear how you all liked Kim Possible. We are going at the end of Oct., and I haven't decided whether or not we should try it.

Well....we were concerned about going over spring break as well, but with the boys being older, I just felt it was the only time that worked. Our school had their break fairly late in the "spring break" season so we were lucky. According to the UG crowd calendar, our days were 7s or 9s on a scale of 1-10. The only day we felt "crowded" was on our DHS day...and we went on a day they were showing Fantasmic! I think it really depends on where Easter falls....our break was 2 weeks AFTER Easter and I had heard that the crowds were much worse in the week or so before we arrived. We love Disney in April...the F&G Festival is SO worth seeing! We've been blessed with great weather at that time of year as well.

Ahh...Missy, I laughed out loud when I saw your boys and DH expressions when they tasted "Beverly"--too funny!!:lmao: I can't wait to get pictures this trip of everyone trying it!;)! My poor DP and DB have no idea what they are in for!

I am so spoiled by going to Epcot during F&G! I'd miss it if I went another time!

You guys are having such a good day. I love EPCOT and it looks like the weather was just beautiful! What a great mom you are to let the boys play in the fountain. I'm sure I would have been worried about them being wet for half the day, but now I think I'll just let them do it if they want to. It's Disney, right?

Can't wait to hear about your saving the world (or World, as the case may be), but if you're going to give a lot away, let me know, will ya? I kind of want to be surprised when we do it. ;)

Well, other than the fact that you have 3 girls and I have 2 boys (which are younger), you and I seem to have similar realities. We live near each other, are staying at the same resort, and are checking in on the same day. Hmm. Think we'll pass each other on the highway (or on the grounds of POR)?

After a cooling off in the fountains, it was time to head to Norway for our KimPossible mission. But..I was mistaken..we weren’t going to be saving Norway. Our mission was in China...we just needed to pick up our Kimmunicator in Norway. Cool! :yay: Off to China we go!

Now, let me say this. If you have more than one or two kids......get TWO Kimmunicators!! The toughest thing about the KP missions was that it was difficult for everyone in the family to see the Kimmunicator at the same time. And...of course...each boy wanted to be the one to hold it! (The CM who gave us our Kimmunicators did say that when you heard the beep sound, you were supposed to change who was holding it. That worked okay, but it still would have been better to have two.)

That said, the KP mission was a lot of fun. :thumbsup2 It forced us to spend time in the country and to seek out things we may have missed if we just rushed through. My kids really had a blast looking for the answers to the clues. Another tip....you don’t have to rush. The Kimmunicator will hold until you push the ready button, so take the time to enjoy the country. We made the mistake on our China mission of rushing from clue to clue and I didn’t like that. Once we realized we could pause, we all really enjoyed the mission. Here are a few pics of our mission to save China!

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m1/missyp_02/FridayEpcot--Disney200940.jpg
(See what I mean..we all had to crowd around. And you have to find a quiet spot that is out of the way so you can hear and not be in anyone’s path.)

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m1/missyp_02/FridayEpcot--Disney200939.jpg

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m1/missyp_02/FridayEpcot--Disney200935.jpg

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m1/missyp_02/FridayEpcot--Disney200936.jpg

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m1/missyp_02/FridayEpcot--Disney200929.jpg

All in all, we really enjoyed the KP mission and decided to sign on for another mission in Mexico. The idea behind the missions is great...get the kids to explore the WS while allowing them to do something cool like be on a secret mission! :cool2: Just do a little research first, know what to expect, and remember to slow down and enjoy the moments!

With China saved from the clutches of the evil villain, it was time to do some more exploring of the gorgeous China pavilion. China was one of our last stops on our 2007 trip, so I felt like we missed a lot...I was really looking forward to taking some time to really take it all in. The buildings in this country are just gorgeous.

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m1/missyp_02/FridayEpcot--Disney200930.jpg

My boys were fascinated with the marionette puppets on our last trip and had talked about buying one to take home this time. We spent quite a bit of time at the puppet stand! Not just on this trip through China, but EVERY time we passed through on our 3 days at Epcot! Those puppets were quite the distraction...and yes, we came home with 2 of them! ::yes::

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m1/missyp_02/FridayEpcot--Disney200938.jpg

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m1/missyp_02/FridayEpcot--Disney200937-1.jpg

The other favorite spot in China was the HUGE gift shop. There is just so much to look at there and I think my boys (and myself, if I’m honest) could spend hours there! They really took a liking to these spinning plates. The CM there was so cool about showing the boys how to spin the plates and keep them spinning. I really should have purchased a set to give them for Christmas....hindsight is always 20/20! :confused3

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m1/missyp_02/FridayEpcot--Disney200932.jpg

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m1/missyp_02/FridayEpcot--Disney200934.jpg

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m1/missyp_02/FridayEpcot--Disney200933.jpg

There’s just so much to look at in this shop! Don’t forget to look up!

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m1/missyp_02/FridayEpcot--Disney200931.jpg

I really wanted to see the Reflections of China movie, so we headed into the temple to see when the next show would begin. When we entered I was blown away at the beauty of the interior. SO gorgeous..pictures don’t even do it justice.

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m1/missyp_02/FridayEpcot--Disney200928.jpg

We had a few minutes till the movie started, so I wandered through the Terra Cotta Warriors exhibit...very interesting! (Although I do have to admit I couldn’t stop thinking about Brendan Fraser and the latest Mummy movie while looking at all those stone warriors....sue me.)

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m1/missyp_02/FridayEpcot--Disney200927.jpg

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m1/missyp_02/FridayEpcot--Disney200926.jpg

We sat for a minute or two and enjoyed a performer playing a traditional Chinese musical instrument before being led into the theater for the Reflections of China movie. I thoroughly enjoyed all of the beautiful images of China and am glad that we took the time to see it. :)

Upon exiting the theater....back into that giant gift shop, I might add :rolleyes1....we were starting to get hungry so we decided to head to Mexico for our KP mission and to grab some lunch at the little CS place there. Dan was really wanting Chinese food, so we stopped at the Lotus Blossom Café to get his lunch. He got the beef noodle bowl and practically inhaled it! He also got the Ginger ice cream which was just okay...he did try it though so I give him props! Honestly, over the course of our 3 days at Epcot, I think Dan had that noodle bowl 3 more times! He LOVED it! So much that I came home and tried to find a recipe to duplicate it.

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m1/missyp_02/FridayEpcot--Disney200925.jpg

While Dan ate, the other boys played with their newly acquired puppets. The seating there is nice...it’s outside, but covered so it’s cool.

With Dan’s belly full of noodles and the rest of our bellies growling, we made our way to Mexico to get some lunch and to embark on our next KP mission.

What fascinated Jonah in Mexico? What tasty treat does Isaiah discover? Will we be able to save Mexico from the dastardly hands of an evil villain? Stay tuned! popcorn::

Which marrionettes came to live at your house? That goat is awesome! Very Sound of Music.

We got two birds...smaller than that goat. (And I LOVE Sound of Music, by the way!! :thumbsup2) The larger ones were, of course, more expensive. Since it was their money and not mine they opted for the less expensive ones!! Funny how that works! ;)

What's in the noodle bowl? Maddy ate at the China pavillion also, but she had sushi.

The noodle bowl was broth, beef, noodles, bok choy, onions....not sure what else but Dan was a huge fan! I did find a Rachel Ray recipe that came close.

Hi Missy

Hi Julie!

nice update....

glad you saved China! and the boys really enjoyed the KPM! I kwym about the crowding around the Kimunicator, we had some trouble w/ that too....

Yeah...I really should have thought that one out better!

so I will be curious if they let you get two on the Mexico mission. I hope we can give that another go next yr (hope they keep it)

LOL! I didn't even think about getting two for Mexico...that thought didn't occur to me until I was writing this TR and reading cjackearl's.

I too so love the China pav, I don't remember seeing the spinning plates, but I could see DH standing there trying to get that to work...;)

My boys just loved those plates! They played with them for a LONG time!

looking forward to more!

Scrappie (J-)

I should be back on track with updates now. Thanks for sticking around! ;)

Yay! :yay: So glad you saved China! Hope you "manage" to save Mexico too! Thanks for not giving too much away. ;) We are SO doing the KP missions-probably more than one. :rolleyes1

Just wondering...why didn't Dan just bring his food with him and eat it in Mexico so the rest of you could eat too? :confused3

Those puppets look cool. I'm definitely going to have the "spend your own money" rule going with those!

Can't wait to hear about Mexico! So glad you're back. :)

That noodle bowl didn't lend itself well to travel, so we just hung out till he was done. It was nice to just relax and let the boys play with their puppets.

Thanks for the "welcome back"! I've missed being here!

Sounds like Kim Possible is a fun thing to do. Maybe we will give it a try on our next trip. We have never spent much time touring the World Showcase, so maybe that will be a good way to do it.

Cool update. We did the Kim Possible Mission and were told to start in the U.K. It was so sunny and there were so many people around that it was hard to see and hear the communicator. So, Lacey and Hunter went off by themselves with the communicator and John and I strolled around. With three boys, I can see how you'd have been better off with two communicators.

Have you checked the allearsnet website to see if they the recipe for Dan's favorite noodles?

I'd say give it a try! I'm always amazed at people who don't spend time in the WS. It's my FAVORITE place to be!

Ooooooh, KP sounds like so much fun! About how long did it take you to complete each mission, do you think? I'd like to try it, but I'm not sure about taking a significant amount of time away from our WS day kwim?

Those puppets are neat! Are the two in the pictures the two that your boys took home?

I'm glad Dan inhaled .. I mean enjoyed (LOL) his lunch at the Lotus Blossom Cafe - sometimes, good Chinese food really hits the spot! :thumbsup2

I can't wait to find out what fascinated Jonah in Mexico, what tasty treat Isaiah discovered and whether or not you were able to save Mexico!! :yay::woohoo:

Sounds like you are having a great time at Epcot. We loved the KP mission we did and I think we'll plan to explore the WS by doing KP missions next time. I hope they keep it around for a while. I agree with what you said about pausing to enjoy the country and don't just rush around following the clues. I wish we had had more time to do just that.

I really enjoyed your last updates! Tricia and my niece, Catie, are so excited about their plan to trick Ed into drinking the Beverly! (Personally, I don't think they'll be able to keep a straight face and he'll catch on.)

I really want to do the KP Missions... will definitely take your advice and ask for 2 kimmunicators! :thumbsup2

The 360 movies are tough for me because I get motion sick, but I can do them. I just need to close my eyes sometimes! And the standing stinks too...especially when you've been walking all day.

CSR sounds great! How exciting that you already have another trip in the works!

Ooooooh, KP sounds like so much fun! About how long did it take you to complete each mission, do you think? I'd like to try it, but I'm not sure about taking a significant amount of time away from our WS day kwim?

Actually, they don't really take away your time. You can explore the country at your own pace. It really ADDS to the WS experience, in my opinion. How long you take on the mission is totally up to you...you can speed through or go slowly and do other things while you look for clues. Try one out and then if you like it you can do more!

Those puppets are neat! Are the two in the pictures the two that your boys took home?

No...they actually came home with two birds (kind of like flamingos).

I'm glad Dan inhaled .. I mean enjoyed (LOL) his lunch at the Lotus Blossom Cafe - sometimes, good Chinese food really hits the spot! :thumbsup2

After Dan scarfed down his noodle bowl in China we headed to Mexico so the rest of us could have some lunch. TENGO HAMBRE!! And Mexican food is one of my favorites. :thumbsup2 We had not tried the CS place in Mexico before and were excited to see what it had to offer.

Upon arriving in Mexico, Jeff and the boys got seats while I ordered our food. We all got the combo platter with a churro for dessert. We sat right next to the wall that separated the gift shop from the restaurant. I do remember the food being tasty, I remember a family of baby ducklings, but what I remember most is the family at the table next to us. The poor mom brought back everyone’s food and as she went to set the tray on the table she spilled one of the drinks all over the little girl. Mom did not handle that well and angrily went off to get a replacement drink...which the little girl promptly spilled on herself as soon as she got it. Ok....not funny, I know. Especially because mom was really fuming. The dad told the kids while mom was away getting the 3rd drink, to be prepared to leave the park. Awww...over spilled soda? What a shame. :sad2: Anyway...they eventually pulled it together, but that’s about all I remember of our meal! :rotfl: OH....remember Dan had already eaten, so he saw this guy and headed over to get a pic or two.
(At 14 I LOVE that he still wanted to do this even without his younger brothers!)

I am so grateful for Photopass! I was sitting and eating so I didn’t even see this interaction.

After finishing our meal, we moved on to our delicious desserts....CHURROS!! MMM....pure sugary goodness! ::yes:: Isaiah was a huge fan and requested these as snacks throughout the rest of the trip!

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m1/missyp_02/FridayEpcot--Disney200951.jpg

With our tummies full, it was time to start our 2nd KP mission. I didn’t take a lot of pictures because the inside of the Mexico pavilion is dark and the pics don’t tend to turn out well. But we did take time to look at the beautiful carved animals, check out the cool Day of the Dead stuff ( I have boys, they love skeletons!), and ride the boat with Donald and his friends. We also went into the glass shop and Jonah was completely fascinated with the artisan who was working on a blown glass creation. I couldn’t tear that boy away! (Funny because we live about 90 minutes from Corning and the Museum of Glass and I have never taken the boys there....it’s now on the list of things to do!)

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m1/missyp_02/FridayEpcot--Disney200950.jpg

While Jonah’s attention was otherwise occupied, I browsed the store and found this little beauty!

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m1/missyp_02/FridayEpcot--Disney200949.jpg

I always knew I was a princess! Anyway, as much as this princess wanted to take the tiara home, it was $250 and out of the royal budget. Sad. :sad1:

Once again we managed to defeat the villain vowing to destroy Mexico and we headed back out into the bright sunshine to head to Norway.

We had never gone in this little building, so I was so excited that we were taking the time to do the little things!

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m1/missyp_02/FridayEpcot--Disney200948.jpg

We looked at the cool Viking exhibit and enjoyed the air conditioning of this place! And I found this cool Hidden Mickey on the robe of the Viking King!

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m1/missyp_02/FridayEpcot--Disney200947.jpg

We decided to wait to ride Maelstrom later because we knew we would be back and we had plans to go back to POR for some swimming and rest. The stand-by line was 30 minutes so we just grabbed a set of FP’s for later and continued to explore Norway and its cool shop!

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m1/missyp_02/FridayEpcot--Disney200946.jpg

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m1/missyp_02/FridayEpcot--Disney200945.jpg

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m1/missyp_02/FridayEpcot--Disney200944.jpg

Jonah was the only one doing the mask, so he got his “charm” and stamp and we were off to the Kringla Bakery! I had been looking forward to this since the planning stage of the trip! Funny though, I was not hungry and so I didn’t even eat anything! But, Jeff tried the famous school bread, Isaiah got a plain sweet pretzel, and Dan got a chocolate pretzel.

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m1/missyp_02/FridayEpcot--Disney200942.jpg
I told Jeff I had to have a picture for my TR because school bread is a DIS favorite. He was happy to cooperate!

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m1/missyp_02/FridayEpcot--Disney200943.jpg

We really enjoyed the shady patio of the bakery and everyone loved the pastries they ordered. Jeff gave school bread a thumbs-up...I tasted it too, because I just HAD to try it....and I agreed. :thumbsup2

It was now about 3:00 and Epcot was having EMH this evening. Our “we don’t have a touring plan” plan was to head back to the resort to swim and rest during the afternoon and then go back to Epcot to finish our WS exploration around dinner time. We decided we would head toward Future World, use our Soarin’ FP’s from earlier and then hit the buses. On the way, Jonah had been holding out for one of these all week!

I have always wanted to try the counter service place in Mexico. Sadly, Hunter does not eat anything remotely close to mexican food. I'm trying to get him to eat more things but he just doesn't like them.

I feel bad for the little kid with the other family. I try my best not to be one of "those" parents.

Hunter, too, was fascinated by the glass guy in Mexico. He could have stood there forever.

I liked the school bread, but I didn't think it was anything to rave about. Jonah had been wanting one of those Itzakadoozies for so long..he was so HAPPY!!

I have always wanted to try the counter service place in Mexico. Sadly, Hunter does not eat anything remotely close to mexican food. I'm trying to get him to eat more things but he just doesn't like them.

Gratefully, my boys are fairly adventurous eaters. I love to cook and try new things so they have to experiment a lot!

I feel bad for the little kid with the other family. I try my best not to be one of "those" parents.

I felt bad too...mom was totally worked up and dad just wanted to keep everyone calm and happy. We saw them later so it appeared that they were able to get back on track!

That stinks that the crowds kept you from trying the CS in Mexico...put it on the list for next time!

Hi Missy,

Great Update :thumbsup2

, but what I remember most is the family at the table next to us. :sad2:

that is too bad....I could see myself getting annoyed w/ myself over spilling a soda...but be mad at my child...and then call it a day...some soap a clean shirt...you can manage

(At 14 I LOVE that he still wanted to do this even without his younger brothers!)

YAY! Oh my Michael would have loved this, going to have too look for him next yr!

While Jonah’s attention was otherwise occupied, I browsed the store and found this little beauty!

I always knew I was a princess! Anyway, as much as this princess wanted to take the tiara home, it was $250 and out of the royal budget. Sad. :sad1:

:scared1: I can understand why you passed that up...ouch!

Hi Angie! Until I'm a real princess, $250 for a tiara is just not gonna work...even if it does have a cute pink Mickey head! :sad2:

Hi Missy,

Great Update :thumbsup2

hi Julie! Donald was just across from the gift shop in Mexico...there is a little pathway that leads off and he was right there...we could see it because we were sitting to eat so Dan got there before the line!

Isaiah is such a crack-up...he came to ME dressed up like that and asked me to take a picture!

Another great update!!!

Love the pic of Dan & Donald and that he went off on his own to do it.

Isaiah strikes me as the full of fun joker in your family from that Viking pic!

Cute pic of Jonah with his big old popsicle!

Beautiful tiara but a little too pricey for me, too! LOL @ it being "out of the royal budget!"

Glad the KP mission went well again!

Great update Missy! Love that tiara!

Sounds like you didn't have the bird problem we usually have at the CS in Mexico! Ick.... (Although this last trip with just Shawn and I, the birds stayed far enough away from me that I wasn't grossed out).

Love the pictures with Donald and your teenager! How memorable!

Waiting to hear about Soarin....popcorn::

Hey!

I am really enjoying your TR - I'm only part way through but I SIMPLY had to remark on a picture you posted on your Ohana breakfast morning!

An ARMADILLO!!!!:scared1:

Flashback to 2006 - my first time at WDW - the very first day, in the car on the way to MK with DH, two daughters, parents in law and niece.

Still got jet-lag - I look out of the car window to see ...... an amadillo toddling up the side of the road!

'An amadillo!' I exclaimed. NOBODY BELIEVED ME! They thought I was delusional! (We don't get many armadillo's in Yorkshire:lmao:)

So now it's a bit of a family standing joke - how I 'imagined' the armadillo in WDW. Last year we went back to Florida and I looked in vain for another one to prove I was right - I had to console myself by buying a cuddly amadillo called Armand!

So, thank you for your picture! I showed it to my husband!

Enjoying reading all about your adventures with your boys! Fantastic!:thumbsup2
