It sounds like you all had fun at TSI. We have never been over there. It just has never sounded like my kind of thing. I want to use a computerized ordering system. That sounds like fun.

That computerized ordering was really cool! I wonder if Pecos Bill's was a testing site and they are considering putting them in all the CS places? :confused3

So after eating lunch at Pecos Bill's we headed off to Splash Mountain to use our FP. YAY! :yay: Then we just worked our way slowly back through Frontierland to find ourselves a spot for the parade. We found a great spot right in front of the gift shop next to the Shooting Arcade...the CM at the little kiosk showed us where the rope would go, so we sat and waited for them to come along and rope the street off. The boys did end up visiting the Frontierland Arcade while we waited...something that we had not done on our last trip.

We were patiently waiting, when off in the distance...what do we hear???

It's OMAR! He is making his famous sound effects as he directs people off the parade route. Too funny...if only everyone loved their jobs as much as our buddy Omar! ;)

As a parade really speaks for itself, I'm going to let pictures of this one do just that!

Here we are waiting for the parade to start. We bought some drinks and just sat and enjoyed people watching....except for Isaiah. Bet you can't guess how he passed the time!

The reason we took this picture is because the family picked to be the Grand Marshals were from Rochester! It really IS a small world! (Sorry!) :rolleyes1

Keep in mind as you look at these pics that Jeff was in charge of picture taking for the parade. It was really nice to just sit and enjoy it, so I was grateful that he offered!

Our raft driver’s name was Omar and he was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! We had to wait for the riverboat to pass before we could shove off, so he had us all wave to the people as they passed. He was so funny...he made jokes about how we should wave and smile because the people on the boat love it and will automatically wave and smile back...he called it INSTANT GRATIFICATION, people! :rotfl: Omar very obviously LOVED his job and you could totally tell. As we approached the dock on the other side, he said there would be a “little bump”...then told us to “wait for it, wait for it.” He made little sound effects...beeps, whistles, etc...as he docked the raft. It is hard to translate his humor and interaction into words, but we all got a real kick out of him. :lmao:
I wonder if Omar moonlights as a monorail driver... we had a similar experience last week whilst stuck holding at the CR. I totally know what you mean - it was absolutely a highlight of our trip! :goodvibes

TSI is great because it really brings out the “little boy” in ALL 4 of my boys! It’s so amazing to let them explore the caves, play in the fort, climb the windmill, and just be “all boy” and know that they are safe. The boys have to USE their imaginations to fully enjoy the attraction, which in this day and age, is fantastic!

1st...the singing CM was on our 1st day in the parks (day 2) at MK....

2nd...when you put the cd in, does anything come up?

trying clicking on "my computer" and then you should see the disk drive and trying clicking on that...

it should bring up an online screen that you click the user agreement then you can view your photos.

If it still doesn't work and you are still at a loss.

and desperate...PM, I can give you my cell # and try and have my husband walk you through it over the phone...he works in computers, I am always calling him to help me ( insert the guy banging computer)

I'm not sure how relaxed he is, but that boy can sure take advantage of the Power Nap!

Glad you liked the underarm photo...it's a family favorite!! :rotfl:

I only purchased one print from our PhotoPass account in 2007, so I wasn't sure what would happen on this trip. I made a conscious effort to get more Photopass pics taken...especially with the whole family. When I got home, after looking at what we had, it made more financial sense to order the whole CD than to pay $15 per picture to download or print. There were enough good ones that I would have wanted....therefore...we now have the CD! Thanks for the compliments! :goodvibes

2 Questions:

1. The MK pics where the family is "Holding TInk". Did the CM tell you to stand that way or did you ask? I had heard that not all of them know how to do that.

2. How did you get your photopass card to the CM when you were on the lazy river?

We went to the Outer Banks, NC. We stayed in a neighborhood called Duck, NC. I absolutely love it there, almost as much as I love WDW. We had a wonderful time, and I'm just getting back into the swing of things....

Sounds awesome! Welcome home...I know how crazy it can be getting back into "real" life!

Oh my goodness...what fabulous pics you got! I agree...those Everest ones are fabulous - I love that you have the coaster going up the hill behind you! The BB ones are great - everyone looks like they are having a fabulous time!!! :cool1:

Sara

Thanks Sara! I LOVE that we have pics from the waterparks!

I don't know how I missed this great report before, but I'm in! I'm late, but I'm in

I went back and read all your handy page links (btw, how do you do that? I've been trying to figure it out and I can't lol). You and your family are gorgeous! What a great trip you had :goodvibes

Can't wait for the next update popcorn::

First....Hi Lisa and :welcome:

Now...if you want to put links on your first post, here are the steps:

*Once you post there will be a number in the upper right corner of the post.
*Click on that and it will open the post in a new window
*Copy that URL (leave the window open...you may need it later)
*Go to the first page of your report and click Edit for the first post
*Scroll down to where you want the links to appear
*Click the little globe with a paper clip icon (sorry..that's the best I can do!)
*Paste the URL in the box that appears
*IF you want the title of the post to appear....go back and copy the title from the window you left open! (Told ya!)
*Now back to the editing box...you can paste the title just by clicking Ctrl+V (part of the link you pasted in will be highlighted and the title will go there automatically)
*All done!

Before you are too impressed...I had to ask a fellow DISer how to do it as well! Just passing along the know-how! If you have any questions or that made no sense to you at all, PM me and I can try to give you better directions!

Thanks for reading! ;)

2 Questions:

1. The MK pics where the family is "Holding TInk". Did the CM tell you to stand that way or did you ask? I had heard that not all of them know how to do that.

2. How did you get your photopass card to the CM when you were on the lazy river?

13 Days!!!!!

Answers!
1. The PhotoPass photographer told us to hold our hands that way. We got more pics later (up closer to the castle) and that photographer did it as well.
2. The PhotoPass photographers at the WP give you little cards that have rubber bands attached so you can carry them with you! Very cool!

YAY! Photopass pictures!!! I love them. :cool1:The ones at BB are amazing...I am one that loves "action" shots. You can just catch all of the emotion in those photos and smiles are not "forced"! :lmao: I can't wait to read more!

Me too! The lazy river shots of Isaiah and Jonah are wonderful! :thumbsup2

That's so great that they have photopass photographers at BB. It wouldn't have occurred to me that they would be there and I probably wouldn't have brought my camera there if we had gone. Great to know for next time!! :thumbsup2

Good morning Amy!

I didn't know they had photographers at the waterparks either! I did take my camera and got a few shots, but the pictures ON the slides and in the Lazy River are shots I never would have had. It was funny to be floating in your tube and see a guy with a camera covered in plastic standing in the water! LOL! It sold me on the CD though, so good for them for thinking of it!! :thumbsup2

Hey Missy! :goodvibes Sorry I've been MIA for so long. Things are finally starting to calm down a bit around here and I'm trying to get caught up!

I read all of your updates and am loving them. :thumbsup2 Omar sounds like so much fun! We had a great time at TSI too. Can't wait to post pictures.

We ate at Pecos Bills on our 2nd trip and ended up eating outside. It was much nicer and quieter that way (but it was evening and getting dark so not hot).

With the happy sounds of the parade moving off in the distance, we made our way out of the Old West onto the busy sidewalks of Main Street USA.

Background....

Isaiah hates getting a haircut. I can’t explain it, I’m not sure what his issue is, but it’s a fight to get him to the chair every time! Now he doesn’t cry and fuss..he IS 12 you know!..but he does complain the whole way there about what’s to come. It’s not fun...for any of us! :headache: So.....we thought maybe he would be a better sport about it if we let him get it cut on Main Street at Harmony Barber Shop. He was given the choice before we left of getting it cut before the trip or waiting till our MK day. He chose the Main Street barber shop! :cool1: Cool....I was hoping he would because I thought it would be a neat experience. The only drawback was that MK wasn’t till the Wednesday of our trip and his hair was a little unruly :scared1:...but we managed!

On our way into the MK in the morning, we had stopped by the Barber Shop, but the line was fairly long...as expected. You can’t make appointments there so it is first come, first served. And you have to wait...no leaving your name and coming back. We had figured most people would try to catch it as they entered the park so we weren’t surprised by the line. We just put it on the back burner and decided to try it after the parade when a lot of people were headed OUT of the park.

IT WORKED! :thumbsup2 When we got to the little shop there were only 2 people in front of us. The shop is tucked in the corner of Main Street, adjacent to the Fire House. Very cute! It’s literally a hole in the wall and only has two barber’s chairs and a VERY small waiting area. In fact, the waiting area is more for the family of the person getting their haircut than for actual waiting. We stood in line outside.

The little girl in front of us was getting her VERY first hair cut...how fun! :cutie: As soon as she got hoisted up in the chair she started screaming, NO, NO, NO! The CM didn’t even bat an eyelash, but started putting Mickey Mouse stickers all over the little girl’s clothes. She kept taking them off, but not as fast as the CM was putting them on! She was so distracted by the stickers that the CM was able to begin the haircut...then she handed the little girl a bottle of bubbles and that was all she wrote! She cut that little princess’ hair lickety split! Amazing! If only the local Supercuts employee was so smart! The little girl got a cute little pair of Mickey ears that said, My First Haircut on the back. Awwww...I melted! :cloud9:

After about a 20 minute wait, it was Isaiah’s turn. He got up in the chair and made small talk with our CM barber. She was very friendly and engaged all of us in conversation as she cut Isaiah’s hair.

Isaiah did not want and colored gel in his hair, but he did want the pixie dust...I was kind of surprised, but thrilled! She sprayed his hair with what I can only imagine was some spray gel and proceeded to “dust him up!” Too cute!

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m1/missyp_02/WednesdayMK-Disney200995.jpg

I was several pages behind in your report. Sorry! I have a good excuse though, I started a trip report of my own. We surprised our son, Hunter, with a WDW vacation last August and I decided to share the story with my Dis friends.

Anyway....What is it with boys and haircuts? Hunter (who just turned 12) never wants to get a haircut. I mean NEVER. He knows that he has to get his hair cut before going on vacation. Maybe I'll use your trick....get it cut on Main Street.

Well...the junior haircut at Supercuts is $10, but since he's over 10 years old, he has to pay full price. SO...at Supercuts his haircut would be $13. At MK it was $14. ( I think that is the child's price--age 12 and under) Plus a tip of course.

I so wanted pixie dust!! I should have done it because only at the MK could I get away with walking around with glitter and confetti in my hair! LOL! :rotfl:

How sweet is Isaiah!!! I love when they enjoy things that you're not sure if they still will. Anthony (who is also 12) surprised me so many times on this trip with things that I never would have thought he would do, but was happy to do it. Manny does not like spinning rides, like dumbo or triceratops spin. So he would sit them out on a bench and ask Anthony if he wanted to wait with him, he never once sat any of those "little kid" rides out. I told him at the beginning of the trip, that some kids are never lucky enough to go to Disney World, enjoy every minute of it!!!! He did, and it looks like yours did too!!!!!!! How Magical!!!!

I know exactly what you mean. Some of my favorite pictures and memories are of Daniel meeting Tigger and Pooh on our 2007 trip. He was 12, but COMPLETELY embraced Disney magic! He really still does at 14, but you can see subtle changes. :sad1: I love that all of my boys still want to meet characters and ride Dumbo and collect autographs and pennies. Seemed to work like a charm on the little girl in front of us! She didn't even know what hit her! But she had a big smile on her face when she left so it was ALL good!

Only 4 more days till your trip???? How excited are you?

My DH is just like your son, he HATES to get his hair cut. I really don't know why, because he feels so good afterwards.:confused3 I am definitely going to corrall him into getting his hair cut there, minus the color, but perhaps a bit of pixie dust! Great pictures, by the way!

Mousescrapper, LOVE the pictures of Margaret getting her first hair cut!!! How adorable was she????:cutie:

Hey! :cool1: Late to the party here, but I just spent last night catching up on your TR and I'm loving it :) You and your "boys" sound like you had so much fun. We are leaving in 3 weeks and reading your TR is helping me pass the time and get even more excited :) :) Can't wait to read more :thumbsup2

Oh my gosh how cute! Love the pixie dust. That is awesome your son was able to get a haircut while you were vactioning. That is probably something he'll always remember. Can't we get pixie dust everytime we get our hair cuts at home? :)

The haircut looks great. How fun to get your hair cut at MK! And at a very reasonable price, too. Love the pixie dust! I'm like you, I'd have wanted it, too. The whole family should have gotten it done! Maybe next trip...???

My parents are at Disney right this very moment, staying at the Wilderness Lodge (home sweet home :guilty:). I'm so JEALOUS! They called me yesterday after they arrived and said they were waiting on the bus to AK. I could just picture them outside of the Lodge at the bus stop. We went to SSR in March, so I've been missing my WL. Oh, well! I'm rambling here, but what I wanted to say was that reading your TR today is really helping me get through the "I'm not at Disney, too, blues". Especially the photo of those balloons. I love those!

Thanks, Missy!

Armed with a healthy dose of pixie dust (literally–the boys were shaking that stuff out for days!) we set our sights on adventure.

Adventureland to be exact!

Before turning to cross the bridge at the hub, we stopped to take some PhotoPass pics. I wanted to get a few in front of the castle with all of our “stuff” off–no lanyards, sunglasses, fans, etc. I wanted to be able to see our “matchy-matchy” shirts! The lighting wasn’t great as it was getting to be later in the day and the sun was casting shadows. Still...I think they turned out pretty good. I will say that Jeff really doesn’t like these though because the castle is not centered. That bugs him!

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m1/missyp_02/Image090.jpg

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m1/missyp_02/Image091.jpg

Finally, we put our “gear” back on and head into Adventureland. First stop is MOST DEFINITELY the Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse.

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m1/missyp_02/WednesdayMK-Disney200989.jpg

This attraction was closed for refurb on our 2007 trip and Jeff was sorely disappointed. :sad2: He loves the treehouse and couldn’t wait to share it with the boys. As we began climbing the treehouse, we were all alone. No crowd to follow, no crowd pushing us along, so it was nice to be able to just enjoy all of the little treats the treehouse has to offer. Unfortunately, the alone time didn’t last long and we soon had a crowd pushing up behind us. We wanted to go slow and enjoy so we found ourselves moving to the side a lot to let people by us. Here’s a pic of the boys in front of the water contraption. Dan spend quite a bit of time trying to figure out how it worked!

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m1/missyp_02/WednesdayMK-Disney200991.jpg

We climbed all the way to the top to what would be the Robinson boys’ bedroom. This is a picture of the boys contemplating being that high in the tree to sleep!!

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m1/missyp_02/WednesdayMK-Disney200990.jpg

I honestly wish I had taken more pictures here. I thought I did, but apparently those are the only ones I have. Not sure what I was thinking! I think I was caught up in taking it all in! My boys have not see the movie Swiss Family Robinson and it is now on our To-See list!

Our next stop in Adventureland was the Jungle Cruise! I LOVE THE JUNGLE CRUISE!! I am such a sucker for the cheesy humor and cheap jokes. But....we decided to Fastpass it and head to the Tiki Room. I DO NOT LOVE THE TIKI ROOM! I do this attraction because I love my family, but I really do not enjoy those birds! I’m not sure what it is, but it is my LEAST favorite attraction in all of MK. But...like I said...because I love my family, I endure!

After the difficult climb up the tree and the “tiki, tiki, tiki, tiki, tiki room” , we needed some refreshment. Boy, were we in the right place! I was so looking forward to trying the much-talked-about and highly-loved Dole Whip! We got in the line and waited for our turn. I got the Dole Whip Float with pineapple whip and pineapple juice. Some of the boys got pineapple juice with orange whip. No matter the combination, these snacks are SO DELICIOUS! ::yes:: They definitely lived up to the hype....and this would not be our only stop of the trip. Here are some pictures of the family enjoying the tasty deliciousness that is the DOLE WHIP!

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m1/missyp_02/WednesdayMK-Disney200981.jpg

I took more pics of our snack than of the TreeHouse.....go figure!! LOL!

OH BOY!! It’s time for some JUNGLE CRUISIN’! We get in the FP line and are soon boarding our very own Jungle boat! Did I mention I LOVE this ride?? Well, I do, but this time I have to say I was disappointed. I guess the quality of your skipper can make or break the ride and our skipper just lacked something. He delivered the jokes, but they seemed to fall flat. He didn’t seem to improv at all, but stuck to the script. Even at the end of the ride where most skippers will keep telling jokes waiting to dock, ours just gave the customary “grab small children by the hand” speech. SO SAD....I was so looking forward to this. Oh well....I grabbed a few pics anyway. ENJOY!

Did you ever take the time to read this board? Too funny!
http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m1/missyp_02/WednesdayMK-Disney200977.jpg

Trying to get over my disappointment from the Jungle Cruise fiasco and desperate to get that “tiki, tiki, tiki, tiki, tiki room” song out of my head....we made a beeline for Pirates. Nothing cures the sad soul like a little bit of pirate treachery!

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m1/missyp_02/WednesdayMK-Disney200976.jpg

It was just past 6:00 pm and there was NO LINE at all for POC! How did we manage that?? We cruised through the queue area and right onto a waiting boat. Now...I like a walk-on ride as much as the next guy, but you miss a lot of cool stuff when you skip the queue! Pirates did NOT disappoint and we LOVED every minute of our ride. My favorite scene is the scene with the town on fire...SO COOL! And Captain Jack looks eerily real! LOVE IT! We disembarked and spent some time in the gift shop. Jonah purchased a Captain Jack Sparrow sword which he promptly put on his belt and carried around for the next several days!

The boys wanted to ride the Magic Carpets of Aladdin so we headed there to see what the wait was like. This is one of those rides that we did not do in 2007, but figured we’d do this time if the standby line was fairly short. It was only a 15 minute wait so the boys got in line while Jeff and I found a spot along the fence to watch. They enjoyed the ride and we explored the market at Agrabah for a little while before we felt ready to head out of Adventureland.

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m1/missyp_02/WednesdayMK-Disney200975.jpg

I make a 3x5 card for each day with our Touring Plan and our plan for this day ended with POC then Wishes at 9:00. It was only 6:45 and we had accomplished EVERYTHING on our card and then some! With some time to kill before finding a spot for Wishes, we decided to head to Toontown and see if we could find any characters. We had not seen that many and figured now was a good time to character hunt since we had done all the attractions we wanted to for the day.

On our stroll to Toontown, we passed through Frontierland and took this picture of the boys.

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m1/missyp_02/WednesdayMK-Disney200998.jpg

Funny story...well, funny now, not so funny then. I was waiting for a chance to get BOTH boys in the stocks for a picture. Everytime one side opened up someone jumped in....it happened over, and over, and over again! Finally, I told Isaiah to get in the stocks and I’d get Jonah in as soon as I could and snap the picture. Well...someone did NOT like the idea of Isaiah waiting for me and he went right up to Isaiah and said “can you move, we’re trying to take a picture?” ARE YOU KIDDING ME?? We had been standing there for a good 5 minutes waiting to take a picture ourselves!! How could he not recognize that?? Jeff was off in the not so far distance and watched the whole thing transpire....he saw how irritated I was! I was about to be NOT SO MAGICAL on someone’s behind! GRRR......anyway....I finally got the picture I wanted. (But look at it again...can you see the exasperation on Isaiah's face?!) It took me a while to calm down....I’m lucky my DH is a good listener and he let me vent!

Up NEXT....what a way to end the day!

Hmm....describe a Dole Whip. It actually comes in two flavors, pineapple or orange. It is a non-dairy frozen soft serve. The orange flavor does taste a little like a creamsicle, but I really prefer the pineapple. It's tangy and not too sweet...a perfect treat on a hot day. To make the float, the soft serve is added to pineapple juice. VERY, VERY TASTY! Highly recommended! :thumbsup2

Thanks for the compliments on the shirts. I wasn't sure my boys would go for identical shirts, so I got these that were similar but not not exactly the same. Turns out I didn't know my kids as well as I thought....stay tuned for that story! ;)

I still haven't had a dole whip and I've been to disney world four times. Lol. It seems like we always forget or are full by the time we see the dole whips. They look so delicious! We had a good day in mk when we visited in jan...we got everything done early like you as well...that is always nice! The first hour or so in the park really does make all the difference. We breezed through fantasy land without having to get any fast passes, which typically dosen't happen...at least not to us. Sorry you were upset...some people just take things so seriously...it wouldn't have hurt that family to have their person move so you could take the picture since you had been standing there longer. I hate when people are rude and mean especially in disney. :goodvibes Hopefully the rest of your evening wasn't ruined! :goodvibes

Hey, Missy! LLLLUUUUVVVED the latest update!

Okay, a few things: The castle pics were really good, actually. I like that they were off centered, as well, because it gives the photos a different perspective AND you can see Walt and Mickey, too! Bonus! I think they are great! :cool1:

What a bummer about the person at the stocks. I would have lost my cool, too. Why couldn't they just let you get your picture? It wouldn't have taken all that long. People! Humph. ;)

Lastly, the Dole Whip. I want one sooooooo bad! When we were there in March with my family (DH opted out and stayed home - what a dork), so I pretty much was at their mercy for where they wanted to go and what they wanted to eat. I should have branched off more, but I didn't want to be rude.

We were in Frontierland and my sister said she wanted to go to Sleepy Hollow for a funnel cake. I knew I was somewhere in the vicinity of a Dole Whip and wanted to go looking for one since I've heard such wonderful things about them.

My parents were like, "What's a Dole Whip?" and as many times as they have been (and I'm talking A WHOLE LOTTA TIMES HERE!) they have never heard of a Dole Whip. They didn't really care to find out, either, so I have missed out yet again. Man, those pictures absolutely make my mouth water!

Thanks for sharing...

Hi there and :welcome: I see from your signature that you are staying at Wyndham Bonnet Creek. Do you own a timeshare with Wyndham? Just asking because my in-laws do and we stayed at the one in Vegas last April. They stayed at Bonnet Creek this past January.

Yeah, we bought Wyndham on our Disney honeymoon actually! I really like it because I think it makes us more willing to travel & use our points than if we didn't own. We also have stayed at the Vegas resort, and we just got back from a trip to Hawaii where we stayed at their Waikiki Beach resort. I love it! So we are treating our parents to a stay at the Bonnet Creek. It will be our first time staying there, so I'm excited! Did your in-laws like the resort??

It sounds like you all were having a wonderful day at the MK. I love no lines. The haircut sounds like a fun experience. Maybe Isiah should try napping through his haircuts. Again, great photopass pictures. My husband would have been bothered about the "uncentered" castle as well. I can't wait to hear about the rest of the day.

Armed with a healthy dose of pixie dust (literally–the boys were shaking that stuff out for days!) we set our sights on adventure.

I kinda like the idea of the pixie dust sticking around for a few days, for some reason LOL pixiedust:

Before turning to cross the bridge at the hub, we stopped to take some PhotoPass pics. I wanted to get a few in front of the castle with all of our “stuff” off–no lanyards, sunglasses, fans, etc. I wanted to be able to see our “matchy-matchy” shirts! The lighting wasn’t great as it was getting to be later in the day and the sun was casting shadows. Still...I think they turned out pretty good. I will say that Jeff really doesn’t like these though because the castle is not centered. That bugs him!

I think the pictures are more interesting that way! :goodvibes

I honestly wish I had taken more pictures here. I thought I did, but apparently those are the only ones I have. Not sure what I was thinking! I think I was caught up in taking it all in! My boys have not see the movie Swiss Family Robinson and it is now on our To-See list!

I do that a lot too :thumbsup2

Yum, dole whips! Love them! :woohoo:

I took more pics of our snack than of the TreeHouse.....go figure!! LOL!

They are picture-worthy

Nice score on no-waiting! I like that ride too :cloud9:

I make a 3x5 card for each day with our Touring Plan and our plan for this day ended with POC then Wishes at 9:00. It was only 6:45 and we had accomplished EVERYTHING on our card and then some! With some time to kill before finding a spot for Wishes, we decided to head to Toontown and see if we could find any characters. We had not seen that many and figured now was a good time to character hunt since we had done all the attractions we wanted to for the day.

Great idea! Mind if I borrow that one? :flower3:

On our stroll to Toontown, we passed through Frontierland and took this picture of the boys.

We've been to WDW thirteen times and I have never bought a Dole Whip. We always walk by and say "oh that smells so good!" but we never stop. Gotta do it now!

Oh good grief! Put it on the MUST DO list!!

Hey, Missy! LLLLUUUUVVVED the latest update!

Okay, a few things: The castle pics were really good, actually. I like that they were off centered, as well, because it gives the photos a different perspective AND you can see Walt and Mickey, too! Bonus! I think they are great! :cool1:

I think that's why we are off-center, so you can see Walt and Mickey. I like them too, thanks! :thumbsup2

What a bummer about the person at the stocks. I would have lost my cool, too. Why couldn't they just let you get your picture? It wouldn't have taken all that long. People! Humph. ;)

I know, right?!

Lastly, the Dole Whip. I want one sooooooo bad! When we were there in March with my family (DH opted out and stayed home - what a dork), so I pretty much was at their mercy for where they wanted to go and what they wanted to eat. I should have branched off more, but I didn't want to be rude.

Opted out of Disney??? I don't understand that phrase!! :rotfl:

Well for next time...you go just over the bridge in Adventureland and they are just across from the TreeHouse! GET ONE! :woohoo:

I think they did like it. They only did 2 days at Disney..silly people!

We loved the one in Vegas...so nice! What a great way to be able to see the country! :goodvibes

Maybe Isiah should try napping through his haircuts.

Nope...borrow away! It's works great..I just laminate the card and toss it in my park bag! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

I know. Who opts out at Disney? My husband. He actually used the word "hate" and "Disney" in the same sentence. I can hear you all gasping as I type this!

He just doesn't get it and he's been twice. He swore up and down he'd go with us next time, but now he's shrugging his shoulders and saying "ask me next year." Oh, well. (sigh)

Disney was fun going with just me and my DS4 (and the parents & sister and niece), but I really missed DH! So I get a little jealous reading all of these TR's with very willing hubbies. You even got yours in a Disney T-shirt, Missy! Way to go! :thumbsup2

So sad that DH just hasn't been bitten by the Disney bug. :sad2: But it's nice that you have family who enjoy it right along with you!

I never went to amusement parks as a kid because my dad hated them....the crowds, the heat, the rides...not his thing. Luckily my grandparents took me to lots of them (including Disney)!

Jeff not only wore a Grumpy shirt...wait till you see what he wore on our 2nd MK day....by HIS choice! :)

Yeah, my DH is not into the amusement parks too much, either. And he FLAT REFUSES to let us do a water park. So BB and TL are out of the question for us. I know without asking... :sad2: I'm going to drag him to Six Flags whether he likes it or not in August. We'll see if that goes a little better! But if Disney doesn't do it for him, I can't imagine that Six Flags is going to (but he's more willing to do SF than Disney, go figure!) :confused3

I cannot wait to see what Jeff wore on your second MK day! Love all the shirts by the way. So cute that you all matched, but not really in the matchy-matchy way. I'm enjoying the report and look forward to more. Don't go too fast though so your TR can keep us entertained longer! :cheer2:

I scanned in my card for the MK day that I am reporting. You can take a look...looks to me like you have all the info you need. The only thing I do is put the attractions in order so we kind of have a game plan of how to move across the park. Of course, these are more "guidelines than actual rules"!

Hope this helps! PM me if you want!

Wow - you guys got a lot accomplished at MK!! I've never been to the Tiki Room - well I vaguely remember going as a child - maybe my first trip with my family when I was 9?? I think it freaked my 6 year old brother out! I know it would freak out Alex so there was no way I was going anywhere near that place.

I have trouble with the Jungle Cruise - maybe I'm just not one for the corny humor - I know it's a big hit here on the DIS, but I must be wound too tightly to enjoy that one?? We probably should have tried it this year though - the boys probably would have gotten a kick out of it.

Your cards are great by the way... I did something similar but I had my ADRs on a separate card.

Can't wait to hear how you ended the day. :thumbsup2

Great last update Missy....

Nice PP pic's....I like the one w/ all your hands out....ok I have to admit, I'd be a bit bummed the castle was in the center of the shot! but your beautiful family makes up for it!

I just knew what was coming up w/ your post title "....backside of water"

so no one was on the boat w/ you? :confused3 maybe that's why your skipper was off....didn't put forth the effort. I agree that ride can bit hit or miss depending how into the jokes your skipper and crew are!

It's one of my personal fav's too!

So I am one of few people who have yet to have a Dole Whip too....and I stayed at the Poly last June....I must be living under a rock ;)

Must get one on the next trip!

That was so nice to practically have the treehouse all to yourself....You are up pretty high, I wanted to take a view shot too...but we had some grumpy folks behind us and it didn't work to get them to pass us. Kinda ruined the magic a bit. :headache:

You MUST so watch SFR!!!!! I can see you making it a whole family night too! some shipwrecked stew, drinking pineapple and coconut punch...now for sport....renting an ostrich may be tricking for the backyard races :rotfl:

I love the old Disney movies...would love to own that on DVD! we watch it anytime it's on TV!

good sport for enduring the Tiki room, and yes I agree that Jack...was very real like...spooky!

Hope you get to see some characters and that Wishes is spectacular!

Hello there!

I've started getting into reading people's trip reports, and the title of yours definitely drew me in! I love that you had a bonus post that explained the title.. I love the Carousel of Progress, and I absolutely CANNOT believe that someone would hold a conversation on the phone while in the show! As crazy as that is, I think it would have been kind of funny as well.. :]

Ohh and the people wanting the pictures at the stocks? Insane. Taking turns is a lovely thing that some people just haven't grasped the concept of. I'm glad it wasn't a huuuuge issue, though.. But really. Some people. :/

Anywho, I can't wait to read the next part of your report.. Maybe I'll go back and read your pre-trip report :]

We actually did do a lot of laughing about it. At the time it was annoying and rude, but later it was HILARIOUS!!

I usually just sit back and wait our turn, but our "turn" had come and gone so many times that I was getting mad! No biggie...I got my shot! :thumbsup2

There may still have been steam coming from my ears as we continued through Frontierland on our way to Toontown. I had to take a few deep breaths, remind myself where we were, and move on! :goodvibes

Since we were walking right by, we headed into the Haunted Mansion for some more spooky fun! There is so much to look at on this ride that I could ride it 100 times and still find something new. I just noticed the glowing footsteps climbing the stairs!

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m1/missyp_02/WednesdayMK-Disney2009110.jpg

I think Jonah is trying to look spooky and may be ready to send Dan off to join the rest of the men with no heads by chopping his off with his Jack Sparrow sword!
http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m1/missyp_02/WednesdayMK-Disney2009109.jpg

Our walk to Toontown was uneventful and we headed straight into the “county fair tent” (aka gift shop!) to see what the line to meet the Fairies looked like.

On our last trip we had stood in line for an hour to see the Princesses. Just Jonah and I....the other boys went and rode Buzz again. But Jonah’s little friend wanted him to bring her back a picture of Aurora so Jonah agreed to stand in line...he really likes this little girl! :cutie: I was (not so) secretly thrilled because, with three boys, my opportunities to see the Princesses are few and far between! princess: Sadly Aurora wasn’t there, but we saw Belle, Cinderella, and Snow White (MY FAVORITE!!). :thumbsup2

All that to say this...we weren’t doing Princesses this time. However, I did want to try to see Tink if the line was reasonable. It wasn’t...it was posted at 60 minutes and we just didn’t want to wait that long at this time of day. So....we shopped some and then headed to the train.

Our plan was to take the train to Main Street and then head leisurely toward the castle and on to Columbia Harbour House for something to eat. Jeff had been looking for a hat to replace his old beat-up Orioles cap and figured the hat shop on Main Street was a good place to check.

All Aboard! I really enjoy the train ride! It’s quiet and a great time to rest those tired Disney feet. It also takes us by Space Mountain, which was closed for refurb, but it’s a great view!

We disembark on Main Street and the lights are just coming on in the shops and on the castle. BEAUTIFUL!

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m1/missyp_02/WednesdayMK-Disney2009108.jpg

Jeff did find a hat he liked at the hat shop and actually purchased it. Getting Jeff to make purchases for himself is fairly difficult. Here’s his find.

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m1/missyp_02/IMG_2234.jpg

It’s pretty plain, but it’s got this cute little “hidden” Mickey on it!

It was now just past 8:00 pm and people were lining the streets for Spectro. We weren’t watching that parade on this night so we happily strolled down Main Street and enjoyed the warm, beautiful evening. What’s not to enjoy...look at the view!

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m1/missyp_02/WednesdayMK-Disney2009107.jpg

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m1/missyp_02/WednesdayMK-Disney2009106.jpg

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m1/missyp_02/WednesdayMK-Disney2009105.jpg

We made it through the gathering Spectro crowd and to Columbia Harbour House just as they were getting ready to close. Whew! We were hungry! Jonah got the kid’s Mac and Cheese, both older boys got the chicken strips, Jeff got the famous tuna sandwich and I got the BLT salad. Unfortunately the upstairs seating area had already been cleaned and closed for the night so we sat in the little dining area off to the right of the door. My salad was very, very good! Jeff enjoyed his tuna, but just wished it had been bigger. The apple crisp for dessert was wonderful! YUM!

With full bellies and some time to kill before heading out in front of the castle for Wishes, we went into a nearly empty Fantasyland to see what we could see. We rode Cinderella’s Carousel first...Dan opted out of this one!

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m1/missyp_02/WednesdayMK-Disney2009103.jpg

Next we zipped over to Snow White’s Scary Adventures....NO LINE! Now....a small disclaimer before I post these pics. Jeff had the camera. HE broke the no flash photography rule, not me! I kept telling him, but you see how that went! Oh well...luckily we were all alone so we didn’t bother anyone else. BAD JEFF!

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m1/missyp_02/WednesdayMK-Disney2009102.jpg

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m1/missyp_02/WednesdayMK-Disney2009101.jpg

It was about 9:30 and Spectro was over. Time to head into the crowd and try to find a spot for Wishes. On our 2007 trip, we had Wishes on the schedule for one night and it was our last night at WDW. Much to my disappointment, Tink did not fly that night and I had been waiting 2 years to see her. This time, we planned to see Wishes this night, but if for some reason Tink did not fly, we could also catch in on our next MK day. I was planning ahead this time...I wasn’t missing her again. :tink:

As you can imagine, seeing Tink was something I had talked about frequently. Therefore, my dear husband wanted to be sure that I had a GREAT view of her. Unfortunately, I had mistakenly believed that a lot of people would vacate Main Street after Spectro and we would be able to find a spot without a problem. BOY WAS I WRONG! Do you remember me saying that Jeff does not handle elbow-to-elbow crowds or chaotic situations well?? This was both. OH BOY. AND....he was bent on being sure I got a good viewing spot for Tink. I just wanted to be in FRONT of the castle, not in Frontierland or behind it, but I guess I had not communicated that well, so he believed I wanted to be in a CERTAIN spot. All of those factors...crazy crowd, 5 people to keep together, his desire to make me happy, miscommunication.....all led to the one thing that wouldn’t make me happy. A FIGHT! :headache: Well, more of a disagreement....I was trying to just stop ANYWHERE and stand to watch the show, he kept pushing forward to find the PERFECT spot.....UGH....anyway. Anyone of you who is married can see where this is going.

FINALLY...we figured it out and just found a spot ON the street to stand and face the castle.

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m1/missyp_02/WednesdayMK-Disney2009100.jpg

We couldn’t sit, but it was fine. The weather was seemingly perfect and I was on the lookout for Tink. The show began and I was all set to be disappointed again, when....WAIT...what is that?? It’s TINK!!! No, I didn’t take a picture because I didn’t want to miss anything and I didn’t think it would turn out anyway. But, there she was in all of her tiny, iridescent, flying glory! I don’t’ know if it was the 2 years of waiting, the emotions from the argument with Jeff, or the long day....but it brought tears to my eyes. Maybe it was none of those things and I’m just a big SAP! :)

The show was AMAZING as usual. I am terrible at fireworks shots, but here is one that turned out pretty well.

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m1/missyp_02/WednesdayMK-Disney200999.jpg

After the crow fiasco before Wishes, we decided to just take our time getting out after Wishes and strolled through the shops on our way to the gate. Let’s recap our day, shall we.

*Breakfast at ‘Ohana with Lilo, Stitch, and friends
*Root Beer Floats at Sleepy Hollow
*IASW, Peter Pan’s Flight, Haunted Mansion
*BTMRR and Splash
*Tom Sawyer Island
*Lunch at Pecos Bill’s
*More Splash!
*Parade
*Haircut
*Swiss Family Robinson TreeHouse
*Tiki Room
*Dole Whips
*Jungle Cruise
*POTC-bought Captain Jack sword
*Aladdin's Magic Carpet ride
*Haunted Mansion again
*WDW train
*stroll down Main Street–bought hat
*Dinner at CHH
*walk on Carousel and SWSA
*I think we rode IASW again, now that I think about it!
*WISHES and TINK!

Throw in some pixie dust, lots of pressed pennies, and some Disney magic and you have the PERFECT day at MK!

We got to the bus stop to see the POR line VERY long as usual. We made the decision to ride the waiting POFQ bus and then walk the river path back “home”. Jonah’s feet were tired and he was a little cranky and not thrilled with this decision, but I think it worked out for the best.

Tomorrow.....DHS and our first look at Toy Story Mania. As you can imagine, we all fell into bed and dreamed of what was to come!

Did we wait forever to ride TSM?? Was it crazy to go to DHS on a Fantasmic day? We haven’t lost anything for a few days...will our luck hold out?? Stay tuned....and thanks for reading!

Great update as always! :goodvibes And believe me, I have SOOOO been there with Shawn with the arguments.....sad, but true. It happens to the best of us! Mine was on the last day of a Thanksgiving trip with 16 people, so we were all just a bit "spent".

Your MK day sounds so nice - I love the boys picture in front of the Haunted Mansion and that "Main St at dusk" picture - !

Can't wait to hear about TSM!!!

Late newcomer to the TR!

Love reading this since my 3 oldest boys are basically the same ages as yours (14, 12 in July, 8 in August) but I also have the caboose who will be 3 next week.

I never get to see the princesses. :sad2:

Love the first picture of Main Street with the lights! :thumbsup2

Yeah - Main St. is pretty crowded for Wishes, but we alway seem able to find a spot somewhere and just stand. Sorry you guys ended up having some tense moments, but glad it all worked out.

Seeing Tinkerbelle is such an awesome sight. :goodvibes

You DID have a great day!

Wow, that is a lot accomplished in 1 day! I'm glad you got to see Tink. That is one of my favorite parts of Wishes too. I'm a sucker for a good Disney firework show. :thumbsup2

And I think it is very sweet how Jonah was willing to wait in an hour long line to meet a princess for a girl back home! He's going to make some woman very happy someday! He seems like a real Prince Charming. :lovestruc

I think Jonah is trying to look spooky and may be ready to send Dan off to join the rest of the men with no heads by chopping his off with his Jack Sparrow sword!

Loved your updates, Missy!

I would have been so upset at the picture with the shackles, too. I'm sure people could clearly see you waiting in line with your boys. Some people just feel like the rules do not apply to them :sad2:

I just LOVE all of the pics of your family with the dole whips! They are adorable. You could make a scrap book page or two just out of those pics! So cute.

Also loved the pics of Main Street after your train ride. Beautiful!

I'm glad you finally got to see Tink after the mini-crisis on Main Street. It's such a teary-eyed moment. And the picture of the fireworks behind the castle came out great. It's so magical-looking and makes me feel like I'm back on Main Street watching the show!

Can't wait to hear more. Oh and PS- I love those organization/schedule cards of yours. Whenever my next trip is, I might have to hire you to organize it! Awesome :thumbsup2

Yes, that sounds like a perfect day aside from the little argument. I love your picture of Main Street as the lights began to come on. Jonah sounds like a thoughtful little boy to stand in line and get a picture for his friend. How old is he? My six year old little boy really likes the Princesses. We saw them at breakfast and he thought they were great.

First I want to say that I am SO HAPPY to see that even though you live in NY, your DH is an Os fan!! ;) We are HUGE Os fans :cool1:

When I read about your Wishes 'drama' it made me smile because that is SO my DH and me. He knows how much things mean to me when we're in WDW, so he goes overboard sometimes to make sure it's 'perfect.' It sometimes causes stress and I have to remind him that he doesn't have to bear the burden of trying to make things perfect, just being there with him is enough :goodvibes (although it's hard to feel that in the midst of a fight :rotfl:)

Funny story....that little girl is my best friend's daughter. They are only 6 weeks apart in age and we've always joked around that they are going to get married someday. We figured at some point they would just not want to hang out anymore and hate the joking. NO WAY! They really adore each other! It really is too cute! Since we were walking right by, we headed into the Haunted Mansion for some more spooky fun! There is so much to look at on this ride that I could ride it 100 times and still find something new. I just noticed the glowing footsteps climbing the stairs!

HM is so fun! I'll have to look for those glowing footsteps...

:thumbsup2

Jeff did find a hat he liked at the hat shop and actually purchased it. Getting Jeff to make purchases for himself is fairly difficult. Here’s his find.

Sounds like you had a wonderful day at MK...minus the little ordeal before the fireworks. That happened with dh and I in Jan when we went. We walked out onto the observation deck at Cali Grill, which is on the 14th floor and I would of been more than content to stand by the door (it was chilly and windy and i'm scared of heights), but he keeps walking all the way to the very end of the deck by the time we got there I was ready to bite his head off. :rotfl2: I was freezing, we were at the very edge so I could see all the way down and I wasn't happy. I forgave him when wishes started and we had the most amazing view. :thumbsup2 Riding the rail road is a good way to get back to main street and rest your feet at the same time...good idea! :thumbsup2 I love it when the lights first come on at night...good pics...can't wait to hear about DHS! :thumbsup2

Great Update:thumbsup2 You were able to get a lot accomplished on your MK day!! We love eating at CHH, It was definitely one of our favorite counter service spots. The apple crisp was so yummy, especially after eating so many prepackaged chocolate and carrot cakes all week.:rotfl: The castle pictures are beautiful.:goodvibes DH does not like elbow to elbow crowds either and when we went to Spectro this year the crowds were crazy. We thought they would get lighter for Wishes but no luck,we ended up moving down Main Street closer to the train station, where it wasn't so congested. DH relaxed and was able to enjoy them.:) I'm so glad that you finally got to see Tink flying over the castle.:goodvibes

I'm not a big chocolate fan so those packaged chocolate cakes did nothing for me! I was so glad to have the apple crisp.

I was glad to see Tink to...I was afraid I was going to have to put all of my eggs in one basket again and hope for the best on our 2nd MK night.

You did have a GREAT day!! I hope that our day is as funfilled as yours! :goodvibes I am so glad that you got to see Tink.

Can you believe that the ONE trip that we took to Magic Kingdom with Jeffery five years ago, we saw SpectroMagic and Tink?? :cool1: We just got lucky because it certainly wasn't planned.

I can't wait to read about DHS. I have to say the MK and DHS are the parks I am most looking forward to. And I have to say that you sealed the deal for me on the waterpark and DQ!!

The waterparks are really second to none. You will enjoy them! And DQ is a nice diversion. Especially with the boys you will be glad you went.

DHS Update coming up soon!

Missy, I've tried to reply twice and my replies keep getting eaten up. Anyway, you had a wonderful end to a wonderful day.:goodvibes

The pictures of your boys in front of HM is wonderful. Jonah looks downright scary! But in an extremely cute way.;)

Great castle pictures too. The Magic Kingdom at night. Ahhh..:cloud9:

Hi! I just found your report while sitting here bored and I've only made it to page 7 but its great! My BF and I were in the World at the same time as you all were! I looked on pg 1 at your itinerary and we were in AK, DHS and Epcot all on the same days! So i've been reading about your AK day and searching for myself in your pictures :rotfl: Anyway, I got to the part where you said you went to the 2:30 showing of the FOTLK and we were in there too! So I'm trying to figure out what section you're in and I come across the last picture on page 7....
http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m1/missyp_02/MondayAK--Disney200941.jpg

We're in your picture!! We were in the giraffe section and you must have been directly across from us because we're like the second row from the front the last 2 people in the row on the right. We're both wearing white shirts and its hard to see but we're there! I'm freaking out because I think thats so cool :rotfl: We got there for EMH and went right for EE too so I wouldn't be surprised if that wasn't the first time we crossed paths! I'm along for the ride now, going to catch up and can't wait for more!

Okay I have been too distracted to read much on the DIS lately, so the catch up is now complete this morning! Last I left off we were getting hair cuts and then we ended with Wishes! So I enjoyed all the reading in between, especially the fact that you didn't have many lines to deal with, and the dole whip break was a success! I like the pics you have -- your family looks like they are having a great time... The Swiss Family Tree photos are my favorite. And of course the ones by the castle! I like that the castle isn't in the center, it is a nice balance. Never had lunch/dinner at the Columbia House but I keep hearing this is a good choice! So I will work that QS in! :thumbsup2 Also totally get the "squabble" factor when everyone is tired and it has been a busy full day! ;)

Wishes is really a great end to a day at the MK. Can't wait to hear about DHS!!!

Awwww! Bless hubby's heart, he was trying to be sweet. But, I totally understand your frustration with him. Sometimes, my husband tries a little too hard and then I get frustrated and then the situation becomes, lets just say...heated.

I am glad that you got to see Tinkerbell though. If you're a sap, then I'm a sap too because I've seen her fly across the Magic Kingdom many many times and I still get all teary eyed.

Oh my goodness I can't believe you actually found yourselves in that picture!! I think I see you, but it's kinda hard to tell. SO cool that we were in the same places. Did you have LGMH on your bag anywhere? I looked all week and never saw even ONE. I was very disappointed.

I'm sure we were at Everest at the same time...I wish we would have been able to say hello!

So glad you're on board! :welcome:

For those of you keeping up, we are now on Day 5 of our vacation. It’s Thursday April 23, 2009 and the alarm wakes us up at 7 am so we can eat a quick breakfast, shower, dress and get ready for our day at Disney’s Hollywood Studios!

Just so I don’t forget to say it later, the weather has been absolutely perfect! We wake up each morning and I check the forecast to see nothing but 80's and sunshine! NICE!

We hit the bus stop to head to DHS for rope drop and arrive to see these crowds at the gate.

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m1/missyp_02/ThursdayDHS--Disney200915.jpg

My photo time stamp says it was 8:31 and opening was at 9 am. Now, the only reason I took the crowd picture is because we had made the choice to come to DHS on a Fantasmic! day. Disney had actually added a second showing of F! at 10:00 this day. I had concerns, but Fantasmic! is our very favorite night show and we really didn’t want to miss it. So we took our chances and headed to DHS on a day when it was showing. More on that later!

Of course our goal was to hit Toy Story Mania first. It was a new ride for us and we had a strategy! We were going to head straight to Pixar Place, jump in the stand-by line, ride, THEN get FP’s to ride later. I had done lots of research on whether to ride first, then get FP’s or vice versa. Our thought was that by riding first, we at least got ONE ride. If the line to get FP’s was crazy or they were gone when we got off the ride, we had not missed out. SO....that was our strategy and we were sticking to it! ;)

The turnstiles opened and we all made our way down Hollywood Boulevard to where the opening show was. We were pretty far back and couldn’t see too much, but I snapped this pic of the “director” as we walked by after the rope dropped! ACTION!!

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m1/missyp_02/ThursdayDHS--Disney200914.jpg

We followed the crowd and ended up in Pixar Place! Like I said before, this was all new since our visit in 2007 and I was impressed! The buildings and the theming were SO CUTE!

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m1/missyp_02/ThursdayDHS--Disney200912.jpg

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m1/missyp_02/ThursdayDHS--Disney200913.jpg

As you can see by the above photo, we arrived at TSM at 9:02 and the stand-by time was posted at 30 minutes. The FP return time at 9:02 was 10:30. We jumped in line and I snapped a few pictures inside the queue. Again...very well done. Impressive!

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m1/missyp_02/ThursdayDHS--Disney200911.jpg

I wish “backwards hat guy” hadn’t been in my way!
http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m1/missyp_02/ThursdayDHS--Disney20098.jpg

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m1/missyp_02/ThursdayDHS--Disney200910.jpg

Notice Jonah is still wearing the Captain Jack sword!
http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m1/missyp_02/ThursdayDHS--Disney20099.jpg

Before long we were donning our 3D glasses and boarding our car. With 5 of us someone always has to ride alone..this time I rode with Jonah, Jeff and Isaiah rode together, and Dan rode alone.

This ride is really fun! :thumbsup2 It took me a few minutes to figure out the trick to the cannon shooter...I was letting go of the string each time instead of just continuing to pull. DUH! There is so much to look at and the games are really cool! I love the stuff flying out at you and how you can unlock bonus points. It was over before I was ready to get off!! Here is my pathetic score... I think I was on the right. I am really no good at these games, but I had a blast and so did the rest of the family!

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m1/missyp_02/ThursdayDHS--Disney20097.jpg

As we exited the ride (I noted that it was 9:30), we headed directly to the FP machines. We DEFINITELY wanted another shot at this one! The FP return time at this point was 12:30. There were a few people in front of us, but we had no problem at all getting FP’s. WOO-HOO!! :woohoo:

Our next stop was RocknRoller Coaster and Tower of Terror so we walked off in that direction of the park. We knew that since we had a FP out for TSM that we would have to ride one of these rides stand-by. We rarely do that, but we’d just have to “bite the bullet” in this case.

We arrived at the end of Sunset Boulevard and checked out the stand-by times for each ride. RnRC was 60 minutes and TOT was 40 minutes. We have a winner! :cool1: We jumped in the TOT line to wait. I snapped this picture from a perspective I had never seen before. It’s there I promise!

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m1/missyp_02/ThursdayDHS--Disney20096.jpg

Here are a couple of us waiting in line.
http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m1/missyp_02/ThursdayDHS--Disney20095.jpg

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m1/missyp_02/ThursdayDHS--Disney20094.jpg

Dan, Jeff and I had been on TOT on our last trip and LOVE IT to death! The younger boys had opted for the “chicken exit”, but vowed to ride this time. We were all so excited! We finally got inside the cool Hollywood Hotel and made our way to the infamous elevators. I can tell Isaiah is starting to get nervous, but there is no way he’s gonna let Jonah upstage him...he’s riding! We all got on and made sure both Isaiah and Jonah were seated next to either Jeff or I. Here we go!!!

I cannot say enough about how fun this ride is! Jonah and Isaiah screamed and laughed the entire time! I’m so glad they both liked it...now we can do it again!!

It was still too early to get a FP for RnRC ( we couldn’t get another until 11:30 and it was not quite 10:30). Oh...that also means that the 40 minute posted wait time was about right...our in-line pics are time stamped at about 9:45.

Our next “must do” was the Disney Animation tour so we made off in that direction. On our way there, we passed by and this was just beginning!

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m1/missyp_02/ThursdayDHS--Disney20093.jpg

Okay...time for me to make a confession. I LOVE HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL. Yes..I know I’m an almost-40 year old woman, but I adore it! I love all 3 movies, have all 3 soundtracks on my iPod and can’t get enough of Troy, Gabriella, Ryan, and Sharpay! Ahh...that feels better, my secret is out!

Now, I would not have stopped to watch this show. We had only been at the park for a an hour and a half and been on two rides. I would not have made the family stop to do this for me. But.... remember what I said about Jeff wanting to make things perfect for me?? Well...he knows how I feel about HSM and he wasn’t about to let me walk by...especially since it was just about to start. So we grabbed a spot of pavement and watched!

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m1/missyp_02/ThursdayDHS--Disney20092.jpg

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m1/missyp_02/ThursdayDHS--Disney20091.jpg

A wide shot so you can see where we were sitting!
http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m1/missyp_02/ThursdayDHS--Disney2009.jpg

The performers did a great job. The songs were so fun and the dancing was awesome. At one point they picked audience members to participate....it was a fun show! Now, had Zac and Vanessa been there it would have been better, but I can’t have everything now can I??

As the show ended and we dragged our bodies up from the hot pavement, Jeff realized his wallet was not in his pocket. AGAIN??? Oh NO!! :scared1:

Luckily it had just fallen out when he had been sitting and was right behind him on the ground. Whew...that could have been bad!

With my HSM fix under my belt...thanks Jeff....I was time to continue our stroll to the Magic of Disney Animation Tour. Jeff and I had done this in 1992, but not on our 2007 trip.

Did we enjoy the new version? Were we able to meet any characters? Do we EVER get to ride RnRC??

Thanks for reading!

We love love love love love Fantasmic and TSM!!! They added a second fantastmic when we went in jan too! We had the early one though with priority seating b/c we did the fantasmic dinner package at brown derby. It was pretty crowded, but I'd rather be squished and be able to see fantasmic than not be able to see it all! We saw some of high school musical too...i've never seen the movies, but the songs from the show at dhs are catchy! Glad the wallet just fell out of his pocket...that could of been disastrous. I get so irritated with dh b/c he just stuffs things in his pockets...thats how you lose things! Can't wait to hear about the animation studio...did you do the drawing class?

Your secret love of High School Musical is safe with us. We won't tell anybody.

I know what you mean about being a party of 5 or any odd number for that matter. For the last two years, we have been a party of three. One of us usually has to be a lone rider.

Looking forward to another update!

Wow!! It looks like you were there on a busy day!! I guess there was no avoiding it if you wanted to see F! We avoided F! and EMH but were afraid we might have run into a different problem that would increase the crowds... That'll be coming up on day 5!

I'm glad you loved TSM - we loved it too!!

I love the pictures of Toy Story Mania!! We didn't make opening for our DHS day because of breakfast at Chef Mickey's so we decided to just grab fastpasses. It was such a fun ride and the boys loved it!!! But we missed all the fun things to see while we were waiting in line.:sad2: The boys were especially sad that they missed Mr. Potato Head. Oh well- there's always next time right.:thumbsup2

It sounds like you had so much fun on TOT!!! That's so awesome that Jonah and Isaiah decided to ride too and liked it!!!:goodvibes

Great bit of strategizing... obviously, it worked!! :thumbsup2

So cute how Jonah still wanted to wear his POC sword!!

Yikes about the wallet scare! And speaking of "scare" I'm a bit scared about possible Fantasmic crowds. It's a pain in the planning you-know-what now that the showings have been limited!! :headache:

Congrats to Isaiah and Jonah for riding the Tower of Terror!!

We followed the crowd and ended up in Pixar Place! Like I said before, this was all new since our visit in 2007 and I was impressed! The buildings and the theming were SO CUTE!

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m1/missyp_02/ThursdayDHS--Disney200913.jpg

As you can see by the above photo, we arrived at TSM at 9:02 and the stand-by time was posted at 30 minutes. The FP return time at 9:02 was 10:30. We jumped in line and I snapped a few pictures inside the queue. Again...very well done. Impressive!

Notice Jonah is still wearing the Captain Jack sword!
http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m1/missyp_02/ThursdayDHS--Disney20099.jpg Jonah's not wearing his Goofy hat?!?!?!

WOO-HOO!!

I hope my boys will like it...I am sure Jahlil will be too short!

That would be a sure way to ruin a vacation!! I am so glad he found his wallet AGAIN! :rotfl:

With my HSM fix under my belt...thanks Jeff....I was time to continue our stroll to the Magic of Disney Animation Tour. Jeff and I had done this in 1992, but not on our 2007 trip.

Did we enjoy the new version? Were we able to meet any characters? Do we EVER get to ride RnRC??

Thanks for reading!I can't wait to read more about your DHS day!!

I'm waiting for this info - I changed our itinerary around before the ADRs were made to add DHS on a Fantasmic night back into the schedule!

I'll get to this info soon...I'll at least give you some clues as to how it went in the next post.

My score was equally pathetic, I think mine was even more pathetic, actually :rotfl2:

I thought I might improve on my next ride, but, alas, no.....I just stink! :rotfl:

Brave, brave people you are! ToT is one ride I will be sitting out, while all of my boys ride it - it  me out LOL

It's one of my favorites...for sure!! :yay:

We all have our guilty pleasures - it's all good! :goodvibes Oh, I love ABBA, but don't tell anyone! :ssst:

It's just between you and me..promise! :goodvibes

That Jeff is a good dude! ::yes::

He certainly is...I'm a lucky girl!

I hope you had fun on the Animation Tour! Can't wait to read about your adventure popcorn::

Keep reading! :thumbsup2

We love Fantasmic too so going on a day when it was showing was really a no-brainer. Stay tuned to see if we made a good choice. :rolleyes1

Your secret love of High School Musical is safe with us. We won't tell anybody.

I know what you mean about being a party of 5 or any odd number for that matter. For the last two years, we have been a party of three. One of us usually has to be a lone rider.

Looking forward to another update!

Dan usually likes to ride alone, but on occasion we made him switch it up.

Wow!! It looks like you were there on a busy day!! I guess there was no avoiding it if you wanted to see F! We avoided F! and EMH but were afraid we might have run into a different problem that would increase the crowds... That'll be coming up on day 5!

I'm glad you loved TSM - we loved it too!!

Ooohh..interesting teaser! We really did LOVE TSM! Such a cool ride and very well done!

I was glad, too. I thought Isaiah may change his mind at one point, but he was brave! Afterwards he said he wished he had done it before...it wasn't so bad!

Kathy

Jonah wore that sword to the parks more than once. He loved it!

The crowds were a little scary...stay tuned for how we felt about that!

Oh man I'm not in any of your pictures this time  We were there though at the same time and did TSM and then ToT so I really thought we would be. Oh well. You guys are having such a great time and its obvious in your pictures :thumbsup2

I love HSM too, I'll confess. I'm pretty sure it might even be cooler for an almost 40 yr old to like the movies than an almost 22 year old! :rotfl:

Oh good...I'm so glad that "backwards hat guy" wasn't your boyfriend!! I thought about that as I was writing it, but that girl didn't look like you so I figured I was safe! :)

I'm so glad I'm not alone here in my love of HSM! Thanks!

I can't wait to read more about your DHS day!!

LOL! Jonah decided to skip the Goofy hat this day and go with the sword instead!

In my opinion F! definitely affected the crowds. More on that later! :surfweb:

Wow, those HS crowds look bad, it looked just as bad on the day we chose to go too!!! We actually only got a few good hours in at HS this trip, and we missed TOT. Next year for sure, it's on our must do list. We did do TSM too!!

I'm not one that pushes the boys on rides, but Jonah had been talking about wanting to go on since his friend came back from WDW in December and Isaiah wanted to give it a shot. Backing out was always an option for them, but they both ended up LOVING it. I think the anticipation was more scary than the ride!

Why is the line for Aladdin so short and Dumbo always so long??

I'm glad you got your picture!!! Some people are so rude!!!

Just so I don’t forget to say it later, the weather has been absolutely perfect! We wake up each morning and I check the forecast to see nothing but 80's and sunshine! NICE!
:thumbsup2 I just love spring down here! Too bad it only lasts about 3 weeks.

I had done lots of research on whether to ride first, then get FP’s or vice versa. Our thought was that by riding first, we at least got ONE ride. If the line to get FP’s was crazy or they were gone when we got off the ride, we had not missed out. SO....that was our strategy and we were sticking to it! ;)
That's been my approach so far, too. It works fairly well, so I'm afraid to mess with it and try anything else, lol!
Did we enjoy the new version? Were we able to meet any characters? Do we EVER get to ride RnRC??

Both of our family trips have been in late April/ early May and the weather has been amazing!

I'm glad we did TSM the way we did. The standby line later in the day was 90 minutes. I'm not sure any ride is worth an hour and a half wait!

Yeah...having a plan definitely was the key. With only one day to spend at DHS you need it!

Do you like other musicals?? I tend to like them anyway, so HSM wasn't really a stretch for me. The songs are really catchy and I love the message of the movies about being who you are....great for a mom who is trying to teach that to 3 boys! :thumbsup2

How is it that I've read your last update (like twice now...LOL) and could have sworn I responded....weird. :confused3

Anyways....sounds like a great DHS day so far! Rope drop pics are always crazy looking, aren't they? We managed to get on TSM twice back in October, by going right at RD and getting a FP but not riding standby (instead the crew that wanted to go on RNRC went over there at RD while I grabbed the FPs), then at the window opening of the 1st one (right at 9:50) we grabbed another set (which was for 2:30 I believe)....then we were eligible for another FP for something else 2 hours later - right around noon. It worked out pretty good, but only if you are planning on sticking around that area to grab another set right at your window opening time as they get pushed back soooo fast!!! We went over to ride GMR in between while we were waiting for the RNRC crew! Downside of that is we didn't get to see the standby queue of TSM, but I was ok with that! LOL!

That's very sweet that your boys indulged your HSM fan status and let you watch! Yay for them! (I've only ever seen the 1st one, but I am a BIG musical fan, so I completely understand...)

Ok, I'm all caught up....feel free to continue....:snooty: :rolleyes1

Okay, I just want to say, I haven't read ANYTHING yet. I'm still in the middle of your PTR (on page 10 or so) and I intend to read the whole thing before I come over to read the TR, so it may take me a little while. ;)

I am really enjoying the PTR, but it's making me crazy that I go to answer a question or respond to something, only to realize you've been back from your trip for two months! :rotfl:

You are giving me a TON of ideas, though. We're taking three boys ourselves in September (two are actually ours, one we claim some of the time, but he actually belongs to our friends). They will be 7,7, and 4. I love the Disney box idea (and the shoe holder idea-I think we have one around here somewhere), and I LOVE the lanyards with the stuff hanging off of them. I am even going to copy your idea for around the neck sunglass holders that I saw on your youngest DS in one of the pictures. We are staying at POR with a group of 5 so I'm especially watching your suggestions for that (like the soap holder). My DH and I have been a ton of times, but never for this long and never with kids old enough to actually do (almost) everything.

I can't wait to see what actually happened on your trip. Anyway, back to your regularly scheduled program. Hopefully I'll be over here soon!

When I left off, we had just finished watching the HSM 3 show (W-I-L-D, WILDCATS!) and narrowly avoided a lost wallet tragedy. We were continuing to make our way to the next stop on our touring plan....the Magic of Disney Animation Tour.

Jeff and I went to WDW on our honeymoon in 1992, I know, that was a LONG time ago. We’re old...technically, but you’re only as old as you feel! :) In 1992, MGM Studios (as it was called then) was the newest of the Disney parks. It joined Epcot and the Magic Kingdom....Animal Kingdom was still just a great idea waiting to be born! At the time, MGM was a working studio. I remember doing the Animation Tour then and being able to see actual artists working on movies in production. It was very cool! The new Magic of Disney Animation Tour is more movie and less tour. The movie and informational presentation were very cute, mind you. Who doesn’t love Mushu causing a little trouble? BUT....I did miss being able to see the “real” thing.

After the movie, you move into a large area with some interactive activities and character Meet and Greet opportunities. Jonah wanted to meet Bolt and Rhino...we had just seen the movie Bolt before we left for vacation....so I jumped in line with him. The other boys were more interested in the interactive games so they went off with Jeff to play. The line for Bolt was deceiving! It wound around behind the Meet and Greet area and moved very, very slowly. :rolleyes1 Bolt and Rhino were taking a lot of time with each child, which was great, but made for a long wait for the rest of us! At one point the handlers said that the characters were going to take a break then be back. I gave Jonah the choice to wait....we literally had NOT moved in the time we had been in line....or give it up and try to see Mickey and maybe the Incredibles instead. He opted for choice number 2, so we hopped out of line and went to find the rest of the family. Jeff took these pictures of Bolt and Rhino between kids!

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m1/missyp_02/ThursdayDHS--Disney200927.jpg

The older boys were still playing with the cool stuff.....I really didn’t see all of it, but there were computers everywhere and you could do fun stuff like animate your own characters, do voice-overs, etc. I spent my time in line with Jonah! Dan and Isaiah were occupied so Jonah and I got in the short line to see Sorcerer Mickey.

Here are the PhotoPass pictures.

After autographs and pictures with the Big Cheese himself, I wanted to head over to where the Incredibles were doing a Meet and Greet. They were just scheduled to come out and I wanted to jump in line before it got too long. Success! :thumbsup2 There were only 2 people ahead of us! Unfortunately there were no PhotoPass photographers here so we were on our own. At one point, Mr. Incredible and Jonah did a cute little “pose-off”, but, unfortunately, Jeff was holding the camera and was so into watching the interaction that he didn’t take pictures of it. UGH! This was not the only time this happened...stay tuned! Anyway...he did manage to get this really cute one! (Love you Honey!)

Once we were finished visiting the characters, Jonah wanted a chance to do some of the interactive activities, so we hung out a bit and let him do that. Jeff liked the voice-over one...Iago was the director and he gave you the dialogue to a scene, then you voiced the words as you watched the character onscreen. At the end, it played the clip back with your voice. VERY COOL! Here’s Jeff working on his voice-over debut!

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m1/missyp_02/ThursdayDHS--Disney200926.jpg

I’m not exactly sure what this one was, but it looks like some sort of touch screen where you get to color in a character. They all liked this one.
http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m1/missyp_02/ThursdayDHS--Disney200925.jpg

The cool air conditioning of this building was nice, but we had been in here a long time now and I was getting antsy to move on. Our window to get new FP’s was now open so I wanted to head over to RnRC to pick some up for later. Begrudgingly, we headed out of the Animation building. I asked the boys about doing the drawing class earlier, but they really showed no interest. I am a terrible artist...I can barely do stick figures! It looked cool as we walked by on our way out, but no takers this time.

It was now about noon and the park was really getting crowded. It was very obvious on Sunset Boulevard heading toward TOT and RnRC. It was really shoulder to shoulder the entire way there. In all of our 10 day vacation, this day was the only day the crowds made us feel uncomfortable. Navigating through them with 5 of us was tedious and time consuming. Needless to say, Jeff HATED it! I’m not sure if the crowds were so bad because it was a Fantasmic! day or because this park just doesn’t handle the masses well because of its layout, but whatever it was....it was not good. :scared1: The crowds don’t tend to bother me, but even I noticed how difficult it was to get from place to place. YIKES!

We finally managed to get ourselves to the RnRC Fastpass machine and got our FP’s. Our return time wasn’t until 4:00...at noon! I told you it was crowded! Oh well...we press on!

Lunch is calling our names so we make the decision to try the Backlot Express for our meal. We had eaten at ABC Commissary our last trip and were not impressed, so we hoped for better luck this time!

We had learned by now, that it was WAY easier to order if only one person went to the register and ordered for everyone. I took to writing down what each person wanted, from beverage to dessert, and being ready to just rattle it all off when asked. The CM’s seemed to appreciate this and it definitely made the process faster! We all got Double Cheeseburgers and fries except Jonah who got Chicken Nuggets. I got a very delicious chocolate cheesecake for dessert! The burgers were ok...pretty standard park fare, but not bad. Jeff had found us a nice table outside under the awning. We were right behind the Indiana Jones Stunt Show and could hear the action and the audience. Pretty cool! At this point, we had been eating at WDW for 4 days and we kept telling the boys to make smart choices concerning beverages etc. We urged them to get water or juice instead of soda for each meal...I know we’re on vacation, but your body can only handle so much before it begins to rebel. Keep that in mind for later! Isaiah and Jonah were doing well, but Dan was not so good at heeding good advice...it may come back to bite him later!

With our tummies full and FP’s in hand for both TSM and RnRC, our next stop was the 1:20 show of Lights, Motors, Action Extreme Stunt Show. We had finished up our lunch in perfect time to head over to the stadium and find our seats. START YOUR ENGINES!! :car:

Hi Missy!! I love that you & Jeff got in on the character pictures!! That's something Tim & I didn't do and I regret! Oh well... there's always next time, right? :confused3

Sounds like a busy day at DHS - I'm guessing that it was from Fantasmic! because we had some very quiet non-F! days just a few days after you...

If it helps, Grumpy and I were married in 1993 LOL When I was 18yo, a friend and I went to MGM Studios for half a day. I, too, remember walking through the Animation Studio and watching the artists at work (when we were there, the animators were drawing The Little Mermaid - yes, THAT is how long it has been since I've been there (other than last year, of course lol)).

Bolt and Rhino are so cute! :goodvibes

Bolt sure was popular! I don't care how long the line is; I'm going to see the UP characters!!! I love that movie!

Ick...crowds! I'm seriously thinking about avoiding Fantasmic days if they mean lots of :crowded: Poor Jeff, you told us how he hates crowds!!

great update! We enjoy eating at backlot express...we actually are going to be taking a impromptu trip to disney for a weekend here in a few weeks. We expect it to be hot and crowded, but its just an extra trip for us as we've already been this yr. Dh is going to the mayo clinic in jacksonville and he said he isn't going to be that close to disney and not go. :thumbsup2 Can't wait to hear more!

Sounds like a busy day at DHS - I'm guessing that it was from Fantasmic! because we had some very quiet non-F! days just a few days after you...

When I got back from our 2007 trip I realized that I was not in a single photo with a character. :sad2: It was my goal this time not to let that happen again! :thumbsup2

I think you are right about F! causing the crowds. Although DHS has never been an easy park to navigate, this was a whole different ball game!

Definitely would help the congestion at the register!

I was glad we slowed down a bit this year and took the time to enjoy the interactive stuff at the end of attractions...we did at Mission Space, Spaceship Earth, and other places as well!

Wow, love all the character pictures! My BF and I didn't get very many of those while we were there because we were rushing so much to get all the rides we wanted to do done. Next time we'll take advantage of the character opportunities more. We were in the Animation studios later on in the day and should have gotten some with Sorcerer Mickey! Yours came out great :thumbsup2

I didn't seem to think it was terribly crowded at DHS that day...it did definitely seem more crowded down that end of Sunset Blvd. but otherwise I thought it was ok. I kinda feel it was more the layout down there than the actual number of people. Just my opinion LOL :)

We had so much fun meeting the characters in the Animation Studio this year. I had no idea there would be so many! Bolt wasn't there though. They had the stuff up for UP.

You are definitely right about that end of the park...the crowds were ABSOLUTELY worse down there than in other places. Getting around with 5 of us is challenging too...I always have to be aware of where the boys are so no one gets separated and lost! I'm pretty spoiled too...crowds were great on our last trip, so ANY crowds at all seemed "crowded" to me! ;)

My 11 year old draws pretty good and the 7 year old likes to draw (all things military related) DH & the oldest are not artistic but were willing to go along with the two of them - probably to avoid meeting Little Einsteins, Handy Manny and doing the Little Mermaid show with me & the baby. Their class drew Goofy and I have to say that while I think the 11 year old's was the best, the other 3 did really well. They all said it was a lot of fun and would do it again next time.

I made sure I got in a lot of character pictures this year. I'm not crazy about how I look in photos, but I wanted people looking at my pictures to know I was actually ON the trip!

I made sure to get in a lot of pics this year - not too many character pics, but we did a lot of family shots. We went to Great Wolf Lodge last year and out of 150 or so photos, I was in maybe 10 of them. I need to learn to let go of the fact that I don't like the way I look in pics.

Hey Missy! I was a couple of pages behind because we were gone camping over the weekend. We catch ourselves still saying MGM Studios because that's what it was when we started visiting WDW.

I sure hope that the Hollywood Studio crowds aren't really bad when we go in August. I'm afraid that it will be because I have it scheduled on a Fantasmic day. As we all know, the Fantasmic schedule has been cut down which makes me antsy about the crowds on our Hollywood Studios day.

We've seen the Incredibles characters a couple of times and they always seem to interact with the guests more than some of the other characters. We got to see Frozone in 2007 and he did some cool poses with the kids.

I look forward to reading more about your Hollywood Studios visit.

We have never been to that animation place, what is it officially called again? when I read these TRs and PTRs I get so many great ideas!!! I know my kids would LOVE this. Wow on the crowds. But I am glad it was the only day you felt :crowded:

Looking forward to more!!!! :thumbsup2

It's in the Animation Building. It's just past the Playhouse Disney building....kind of at the back. The tour is called the Magic of Disney Animation Tour. You do the 10-15 minute tour and then they drop you in the interactive/meet and greet area where you can stay as long as you like.

I love the character meet n greets! I want to do many more of these when we go in November. It's my older sister's first time there, so I know she'll want to get this in! I also have never done the Disney Animation Studios before! I really want to do this, as well as try to get to the drawing part. I'm a horrible artist, too, but this is an experience I just can't pass up! I'm happy that you guys were able to navigate the crowds! HS was pretty full according to your photos! I really don't like crowds either, but I can usually manage.

I can't wait for your next update! I'm hoping that Dan doesn't get too sick......

We are not used to crowds either. We usually go toward the middle of Dec. and it is not crowded. Well, it was last Dec. when we went. It does take away a little from the experience when you are used to no lines and no crowds. We didn't try the drawing either. We were too busy seeing all the characters.

Jeff and I went to WDW on our honeymoon in 1992, I know, that was a LONG time ago. We’re old...technically, but you’re only as old as you feel! :)

:goodvibes and congrats on 17 yrs of marriage!

The line for Bolt was deceiving!

yes as you read in my TR...we encountered the same thing....

The older boys were still playing with the cool stuff.....I really didn’t see all of it, but there were computers everywhere and you could do fun stuff like animate your own characters, do voice-overs, etc.

I have not done really any of that stuff....glad to know it's fun....have to put that on the list for next yr! :thumbsup2

Great family shot! I love feeling like a kid and getting in there too....it's just as fun for the big-kids like us too!

We had learned by now, that it was WAY easier to order if only one person went to the register and ordered for everyone. I took to writing down what each person wanted, from beverage to dessert, and being ready to just rattle it all off when asked. The CM’s seemed to appreciate this and it definitely made the process faster!

we do that too...but take one kid (generally Aldine to help w/ trays)...but duh! it had never occurred to me to write it down for myself or DH....note to self :teacher: thanks Missy!

At this point, we had been eating at WDW for 4 days and we kept telling the boys to make smart choices concerning beverages etc. We urged them to get water or juice instead of soda for each meal...I know we’re on vacation, but your body can only handle so much before it begins to rebel. Keep that in mind for later!

so true...that's why I like the kid meals can come w/ applesauce and jello cups...more ways of getting liquids in...I can see how it can be more a challange w/ the older kids....hope Dan doesn't get to sick

looking forward to more!

Meeting the characters is definitely fun! I think I enjoy it as much as the kids! LOL! :rotfl: I do okay in crowds, but keeping Jeff happy is a little more challenging! He really doesn't like the shoulder to shoulder stuff and we hit it quite a bit this day. :headache:

Hi Julie! The poor food and drink choices do catch up with Dan eventually...but it takes a few days. Unfortunately he ends up missing out on some fun stuff. If only they would listen...we've been around the block a time or two! (It's easier when they are smaller..I could make the choices FOR them, but now that they are getting older, we are trying to teach them good habits and then let them make their choices. Sometimes that's tough!)

I want to see AMY hugging Mickey during the next trip!

HSM is High School Musical...has your son seen the movies? My 14 year old likes them...but I'm sure he wouldn't admit that out loud!

You can find some Disney music on iTunes and can purchase songs individually. You may have to look up individual song titles because sometimes they are under the artist who sang them and won't come up if you just search for Disney music.

I licked the cheesecake bowl clean (YUM!) as we headed out of Backlot Express and began our walk to the Lights Motors Action Extreme Stunt Show. Now remember, I have 3 boys and a wonderful husband so this show is NOT optional...it is a MUST SEE! ::yes:: Revving engines, the smell of burning rubber, shootouts, motorcycle chases and big explosions mean happy boys! We came in on the late-ish end of things so we ended up being seated in the far left of the stadium, but only about halfway up. Not too bad. The bleacher seating is not the most comfortable, but it works. This is just a really fun show, and even I, the lone female in a testosterone filled house, enjoy it! :thumbsup2 I didn’t take as many pictures as last trip, but spent more time just watching the show. I did take a few so here they are...I DID manage to get the money shot this year. In 2007 I could tell by the set-up that the car would be coming out of the window, but missed the cool explosion at the end...not this time! ENJOY!

Ok..this one I did miss...the car had just jumped from truck to truck.

As we followed the masses out of the stadium and back onto the Streets of America, it was time to scout out a spot for the parade. I knew we should be somewhere between the Indiana Jones Stunt Show area and the American Idol Experience theater, but this was a new parade for us so we weren’t certain where the best viewing spot would be. We asked a CM on the street and he told us approximately where the parade would stop...it’s a Block Party so it doesn’t move the whole time, but stops for “performances” along the parade route. We chose a spot just between the Sounds Dangerous theater and the American Idol Experience. There is a little wall and an area called “the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Hall of Fame” with busts of TV and movie personalities. Jonah wanted his picture taken with this guy!

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m1/missyp_02/ThursdayDHS--Disney200918.jpg

I, however, posed for this winner of a picture! I’ve had a crush on him since he was Little Joe!
http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m1/missyp_02/ThursdayDHS--Disney200946.jpg

It was getting pretty hot and we were waiting right in the hot sun on the hot pavement, so I headed to Min and Bill’s Dockside for some delicious frozen lemonade for everyone. So good on a hot day! My two boys were way too cool to hang out with the rest of the family. :cool2: Here they are chillin’ with their lemonades, trying to act like they didn’t know us!

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m1/missyp_02/ThursdayDHS--Disney200917.jpg

We waited for what seemed like a long time, but since the parade stopped along the way, it took some time to get to us. We finally heard it coming! Block Party Bash was new for us...the last time we had seen a DHS parade it was Stars and Motorcars. We were excited for this one! Here it comes!!

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m1/missyp_02/ThursdayDHS--Disney200937.jpg

At one point, the parade stopped and there were CM’s dancing and interacting with the kids. They stopped for a good long time and did lots of cool stuff with beach balls, pogo sticks, etc. The performers were VERY high energy!

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m1/missyp_02/ThursdayDHS--Disney200938.jpg

They invited all the kids to come out onto the street and dance with them. This is the one and only dance move Jonah knows! LOL!! Oh...and notice he STILL has the sword!
http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m1/missyp_02/ThursdayDHS--Disney200939.jpg

After about 7-10 minutes, the parade began moving again. Here are some more pictures as it went by.

The Block Party faded into the distance and we gathered our belongings and set off for our next adventure. We really enjoyed this parade...it was fun and interactive and colorful. I give those CM’s credit for dancing and hopping around in that heat! Whew! Well done!

Our next stop was to head in the direction of Rock n Roller Coaster. Our FP’s were good beginning at 4:00 and it was just after 3:30. We also hoped to maybe catch the Beauty and the Beast show on our way. We stopped to take this picture of the Snow White topiary....my fave!

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m1/missyp_02/ThursdayDHS--Disney200947.jpg

Next up...Do we get to see Belle fall in love with the Beast? How does Jonah like his first ride on the RnRC?? What do you mean where’s your cell phone??

Thanks for reading!

Great update Missy....

We have yet to see LMA...it has just never worked out for us. I read in the UG 09 book that rumor has it in a few yrs they may change it to a more Cars fun version for more appeal...:confused3

It's hard to catch w/ only 2 showings practically a day...but glad to see your great pic's and others' on their TR's.

We saw the BPB in 08 and sweated thru it, maybe seeing in cooler Nov. weather we'll have a different feeling...but we got frozen lemonades too from Doc Min's while we waited.

Great dancin' :dance3: Jonah!

Oh BTW...the last parade that DH, my DMom and I saw before seeing BPB at DHS/MGM was the Aladdin parade in '94....

now I'm dating myself...
