View Full Version : Interesting benefit of a blackout pass

I had completely forgotten about the blackout date on Saturday, so I could not get into the park on my AP. Bought the upgrade blackout passes for $25 per ticket. The nice benefit about this was that I got a fastpass on my Ap, and a fastpass on the blackout ticket. Having double fastpasses on a busy Saturday was great. Was it ethical? Well, I paid twice for the pleasure of entering the park, even though the 2nd ticket was discounted. So I had no qualms about doing it. With 200 min waits at Splash, I grabbed every fastpass I could get my hands on.
I just know somebody is going to flaim me for this, but that is ok.

What are Blackouts? Is it something I should worry about? Is there a list of days?
We are going to DL end of July and I noticed that a flyer I just got from DL said something out the passes not good on blackout days. I was worried my pass might end up this way while we are there.
(we bought the one adult get child free pass)

The blackout dates apply to certain types of ANNUAL PASSES only. All other types of passes are good every day. :D

I personally don't see anything wrong with getting 2 fast passes....you paid for 2 admissions really, so it would seem to me that you would be entitled to 2 fastpasses.....I would have done the same thing without hesitation. :o
BTW....I hope you had fun!

I disagree with paying for two admissions, since the AP that Rita1965 had did not included Saturdays. So technically only 1 admission for that day was actually "purchased."

You can get other fast passes on one ticket - Disneyland Fast pass system and California Advenutre's fast pass system are NOT connected- so one could hop from park to park w fast passes at same time period.
They were also working on some "freebie " fast passes - I believe it was Haunted Mansion and Pirates - where you could already be holding a Fast pass and still get one for one of these attractions.. its a big secret / test thing that was revealed on another web site- but it can change at anytime- doesn't hurt to try!!

So hypothetically speaking ... we could be in DL when it opens at 8 AM, ride rides, etc. then at 10 AM grab a fast pass for Splash Mtn with a 2-3 PM return time for example, then someone from our group can trot over to DCA real fast with all our passes in hand, get Noon fast passes for us on California Soarin' and then rejoin us at DL. Then at Noon we can grab more DL fast passes (because 2 hours have lapsed) before heading over to DCA to use our Noon FPs for Soarin'. Then before leaving DCA grab FPs for Screamin', hop back to DL to use the 2 PM FPs for Splash, then turn around and return to DCA to use the Screamin' FPS....
Just typing this makes my feet swell and legs hurt!! It may be possible to get multiple FPs between the 2 parks, but unless you are training for a triathalon or getting ready to enter Marine boot camp, it ain't worth the physical exertion (especially during the summer when most of us would be passing out from exhaustion on Paul Pressler's brick between the 2 parks)!!

LOL Hey I didn't say it would be a worth while venture- but if it works for those young energetic types -- why not let them know? LOL

Rita--as far as my 2 cents goes--i think you had every right to both those FP's! And I hope you had a great time! :-)

Thanks for the input. I sure appreciate the support, not that I was feeling guilty anyway.
I will have to say I am exhausted after reading ivanova's hypothetical park jumping scheme. You sure made me smile. As exhausted as I was after 7 days in the parks, I was wishing for a monorail between DL and DCA. Or at least a walkway on top so we did not have to go through the lines and the security check point each time.

No, no, no. I think we need an exclusive AP holders TUNNEL that goes from some secret spot in DL to a conveniently located secret spot in DCA. ;)

I LOVE how people on these boards justify things that are morally wrong. Granted, probably no one got hurt here but you were not entitiled to 2 passes. It does not fall within the realm of policy and procedures.

I had 2 tickets, therefore 2 fastpasses. Thank you for your opinion though. It is nice to have a forum where we can all respectfully agree or disagree with each other.

Well you may have had two tickets, your blockout pass and your AP only one was "vaild admission" for the day you were there. Therefore "technically" you were only intitled to one FP at a time, just as the "system" was intended.

Ivanova,
Wait a minute...back up! You said in your post that at 10:00 you could get a FP for Splash with a return time for 2-3:00 but after the 2 hour mark (noon) you could get another FP?
Is that true? I had no idea they had a "2 hr. time" window! That's GREAT news. We had a FP for GRR Tuesday for 5:30 that we got around 1:00. You mean to tell me that we could have gotten another FP for something else (or the same ride!) after 3:00??? (I'm smackin' my head now!)

The way the fast pass system is setup you can get a second fast pass either after the ride window time starts for the first fastpass or after 2 hours from the time you got the first fast pass. The FP says on it when you can get another fastpass.
