View Full Version : Sci-Fi for dessert?

In July, the boys and I are going to WDW with quite a crowd... there will be 14 of us total (4 adults & 10 kids). I'm the planner because we've gone so often and the others (my DS and her 3 kids, my DB and DSIL and their 3 kids) have only been once.

I'd love for all of us to go to the Sci-Fi popcorn::, but it's a bit pricey. So what about just going for dessert? I'd love to hear what any of you think.

Thanks!!
Rose

Yes, it is pricey and I didn't think it was worth it. Have you eaten there before? I personally thought that the food was mediocre. I don't remember the dessert so it must not have knocked my socks off. I am a sweetaholic and I remember good desserts! But to answer your question, yes they will let you come in for dessert only or appetizer only or they used to anyway.

It is next to impossible to get into either one of those restaurants (Sci-Fi or Prime Time) without an ADR. I can't imagine that they would be happy to let your party occupy several tables for dessert. But, it doesn't hurt to ask. I suggest that you call the dining reservation number and ask yourself. The number is 407-939-3463.

You could always hop the boat and head over to Beach Club and have a huge range of wonderful desserts to choose from at Beaches & Cream. I highly recommend them, and it'd be a nice break from the park. Or Boardwalk Pastry Shop if ice cream ain't your thing.

Thanks, everyone, for chiming in on the Sci-Fi topic. The ONLY reason I was thinking the Sci-Fi was for the atmosphere. The last time we ate there, the food wasn't all that terrific, but the atmosphere is really fun.

But we have an honest-to-golly drive-in here :3dglasses, so maybe we'll just skip Disney's version and go to our when all the "cousins" are here. Heck, the food is better, there are TWO movies, and we'll probably get it for lots less than what we'd pay for just dessert at the Sci-Fi.

And maybe we'll hang out at the Boardwalk and check out their desserts (although, the cousins live on the real Jersey Shore boardwalk... oh well :sad2:).

Thanks again, everyone!

Frank, that sounds positively delightful! I think that's exactly what we'll do. It oughta make for some seriously excellent fun.

And, Shan-Man? Sis and I will definitely partake of YOUR suggestion... we like to waste away in good ol' Margaritaville every now and again. Although, if someone would tell me what the heck is in a kungaloosh (did i even spell that correctly? :sad2:), we'd probably go there, too. ;)

Rather interesting thread, Shan. Many thanks for the direction. I think DS and I will have to take a trial run when we get together at the end of May. And I'll write the recipe down on an index card for DB to make for DS and me when we, uhhh... are unable to make it ourselves. :rolleyes1
