I had heard that children who receive SSI are not elgible for the $250.00 stimulus; however in yesterday's mail I received a notice that my son (age 10) should be receiving his $250.00 by the end of May. Has anyone else received the notice for their child? Has anyone received the check yet?

Children do not get the stimulous check unless the Social Security is for them.

Q. Can children get this one-time payment?

A. That depends. Children who receive Social Security benefits are NOT eligible for the one-time payment. But disabled adult children (over age 18) who get Social Security are eligible for the one-time payment, and so are children who receive SSI.

Q. How will I get this payment?

A. Social Security will deliver your payment in one of the following ways:

* If you receive your Social Security or SSI benefit payment by direct deposit in your bank, the SSA will deposit the $250 one-time payment in your bank. Direct Deposit is the fast, safe and most reliable way to receive monthly Social Security benefits.
* If you get your Social Security or SSI benefit payment in the mail, SS will send your $250 one-time payment by mail.

OR

* If your benefit goes directly to your Direct Express debit card, Social Security will deposit the $250 one-time payment to your debit card. They'll send your one-time economic recovery payment separately from your Social Security or SSI benefit; it won't be included with your monthly benefit payment.

So watch your bank account and wait and see as it will be with in the next 4 weeks probably. It will be a lot faster since they are doing this all electronically. Mom and I will get each a check.

That's great news. I thought the rebate was only for Adults.:cool1:

I haven't, but my Aunt and Uncle said they got one saying theirs should be there in June.

I also got the notice for my 10 year old, but I am not sure if we will get the check because he no longer gets SSI as of a couple of months ago (we apparently make too much money now). I guess I will wait and see!

Hi we are new to SSI. My son has started receiving SSI a month ago. So SSI and Social Security are two different things? Will my son receive the stimulus? He is 2 years old.

Thanks,

Post 2 explains that if he is on SSI or Social Security in his acount then he will get the deposit of $250. Thus your son will get the check deposited to his account.

I find the wording of the Q&A a little confusing. I did get the notice, but figured since I'm not sure, I'll just wait and see. If it shows up, great, if not oh well.:confused3
