Dear all,
We planned to have dinner at Inventions on our first night at Disneyland... But I have read mixed reviews about it.. Any advice?

We are also feeling the same! Some people raving about it, whilst others complaining that it's mostly seafood, and the meats are cold etc. Anybody been recently?

Me too - Inventions would make great use of my Premium vouchers, but I'm worried it would be wasted on my fussy 5 year old son who only seems to like things like smiley faces, pizza and pasta! The king prawn mountains look great though....
Any views on what there is for kids to eat?

I really liked Inventions. We have a 4 year old dd and she loved the food too. Only the starters are seafood and cold meat and there were lots of salads too. If you don't like that you could always have two mains?
As for Smiley faces etc they are there too as well as pizza and pasta. There were other children's type things too but I can't remember. There were also ice creams for dessert.
I found Inventions good for Character interaction as it was quieter than say Cafe Mickey (although we loved Cafe Mickey too).

Have you looked at the reviews on the restaurant sticky.
We have eaten there 3 times - Easter 08, Summer 08 and February 09 and loved it each time.
Im not a massive lover of seafood and yes there is a seafood section but didnt feel there was loads.
There were several choices of main courses and children could have whatever they wanted from the adult buffet but also there were smiley faces, pizza, chicken pieces in breadcrumbs (like giant nuggets but proper chicken breast not the artificial stuff you get in some places) and bolognaise. Obviously adults could eat these as well if they wanted.
There is loads of choice and they are constantly restocking the food so it isnt cold or run out. In fact the serving dishes are quite small meaning it is restocked regularly.

I was there a fortnight ago and rather liked it.
Pros:
- Good atmosphere, child friendly
- Plenty of characters, each spending time at your table
- If you're in the middle room it's a great view right over the Park.
- Good range of food.
Cons:
- It's a buffet, so not as relaxing as you might hope.
- You don't want to be sitting in the narrow section next to the food.
- Not quite 5 star standard, probably because of the limits of buffets.
If we were going again with the bairns (5 and 7) then I think we'd eat there again.

I was a bit dissapointed when we ate there in March, but I think I was expecting too much.
We were in the narrow section next to the food but didn't find it that bad.
CM was really friendly and helpful, Character interaction was good although for us not as good as cafe mickeys.
I also think we were too tried to actually enjoy the food as we went quite late in the evening.
For me there wasn't that much seafood selection, the mains were lovely meat cooked just right and for the kids there was a bit of everything including smiley faces and pizza.
I didn't go much on the dessert section, but i did love the cheesecake!!!
I thought the food was very good, and the character interaction was nice, but I thought the character interaction was just as good at Cafe Mickey. I wouldn't go back to Inventions unless I had HB Premium vouchers, as I thought it was a very expensive meal - this is from someone who lives in Norway, where that's the norm. It was the only meal where an otherwise very nice experience was a bit tainted by knowledge of just how much we had paid to eat there (even though I had been aware of how much it cost before we went).
If you budget for it, go and have a good time. If you're ON a budget, go somewhere else.
