Hi,

My shareholders card finally arrived yesterday. However i am a little disappointed as it does not come with any instructions to remind me of what discounts i can get and where. The other thing is i still have no idea where Salon Mickey is or how to get in, i have heard there is a secret knock? Or is that just a joke lol?

Anyway the discounts i think i get if someone can correct me if i am wrong that would be great:

15% on tickets
10% on packages
15% on shops and restaurants(no discount at counter service)
10% on the helium balloon over the lake
10% on uk stores

Also my card says MRS Surname First Name, is this how it is supposed to come or have they ptrinted it wrong and does it matter?

I don't think your card is printed wrong, I think thats right.
I got a temporary shareholders certificate before my permanent card, it has all the advantages listed on it (but I don't have that to hand at the moment). There also a full list on the official Disney site, on the shareholders page.

Hi,

I've looked at my temporary shareholder letter, the only thing on the letter that isn't on your list is the reduced prices for the Buffalo Bill show for shareholders - 49 euro per adult, 33 euro per child.

Salon Mickey is at the entrance to the main park - there is one entrance very near to Guest Services/Baggagerie, to the very right of the turnstile entrances to the park. There is another entrance while you are in the park, on the way out of the park this would be to your left, and after you pass under the Main St station archways, but before you reach the turnstile exits.

I only had a vague idea of where it was but found it quite easily, it does have a sign on the door, you just knock for entry and hand over your card. When we went there was a really lovely friendly CM in there, she told us to take 2 pastries each and help ourselves to drinks and then she came in with big cookies for the boys. I don't know whether that was because I said it was our first time in there, I know people have said previously about them tightening up on food and drink.

It was quite weird though, there were 4 French (I think)people in there when we arrived and then they were joined by another couple and then some more came and others went, but they were all huggy/kissy with each other and I felt quite left out, I wasn't sure if that was standard etiquette and whether we should go and join in too :confused3:rotfl:

You should have joined in Jill. It sounds lovely at Salon Mickey can't wait for October. Depends who is in there before I decide to do any kissing. Ha ha ha

We visited Salon Mickey on all three of our visits to DLPR, but there were a few changes this time.

The door from inside the park is locked on the inside and the CM has to let you out when you're ready to go. I'm not sure whether anyone would hear a knock at this door as the CM is based in the other room.

The pastries have been moved from the Salon itself to the lobby where you hand over your tickets and shareholder's card. The arrangement seems to vary depending on which CM is on the desk - eg sometimes the paper plates are beside the pastries, sometimes on the other counter in the Salon (where you help yourselves to hot drinks, water or orange juice).

There didn't seem to be any restriction on what you can take, but they do tell you in the guidelines that food and drink should be consumed in the Salon and not removed.

The majority of visitors seem to be French and the atmosphere is usually very quiet and relaxed.

Salon Mickey is an exclusive lounge in the main park at DLRP, which is only open to shareholders and their guests. They serve hot and cold drinks, and pastries etc, free of charge to shareholders, each morning between 9am and noon.

Here is a useful start to the advantages and qualifying conditions for becoming a shareholder :) -

When we were there at Xmas we were told it was only one pastry each now. Not that we tried to take 2, she told us as soon as we came in the door. It has also been very busy the last few times, and I must admit we didn't even bother going in on our March weekend trip, but I expect we'll visit a couple of times in half term.

Last month I found it much improved :thumbsup2.
There were cookies, doughnuts and muffins and the CMs seemed more cheerful than they had been when we visited @ Halloween and in August. My DD was really happy as she and my DS had written in the comments book that they didn't want the croissants that were on offer and would like to see doughnuts back.
I was asked to complete an appraisal form during my Easter visit and I think they are trying to make it a nice place to visit.

That's good news Rosie, and personally I missed the donuts too!

Good job your daughter didn't visit the week we were there Rosie, no doughnuts!

We went three days in a row and the same things were on offer each day: chocolate chip muffins (which I personally found a bit on the dry side); cookies; pain au chocolat; croissants!!

Maybe they brought the doughnuts out when they knew she was coming :goodvibes

Sorry to sort of hikack this thread but I also have a query. Last time we went, we were asked for our passports as proof of identity. The shareholders card didn't seem enough on its own. I said that I wasn't in the habit of carrying our passports around the park and they overlooked it.

Can anyone confirm if this is standard practice? I would hate to think of the danger of losing passports:scared1:

I wonder if it is to make sure you are actually the shareholder and haven't 'lent' your card to a friend? We've always had annual passes so they have our photos on to prove who we are.

I don't like carrying passports round either, why not photocopy them and just show the photocopy if they ask again? Or do you have a photo driving licence?

I suppose people could lend them out, and with no photo they have no proof. (no way I would let mine out of sight!!!!!). Yes, I think I will bring some photo ID anyway as I was very embarrassed last time. I don't have a valid driving licence, but perhaps a photocopy of passport would do:thumbsup2
