Entrees on the DP

Are there any entrees that they do not allow you to order as part of the DP because of the cost, or is everything on the menu fair game?

As far as I know, you can choose anything on the menu. On the regular plan, you get an entree, a dessert, and a non-alcoholic drink for TS. CS meals are also entree, dessert and drink, or a complete 'value' meal.

Yes, you can order what ever you want! That is what the CM that made our reservations said.

When the DP first came out there were exclusions-- but now that the DP is SO popular I think the restaurants have pretty much standardized the menus so you can get anything on them.

There may be some that have some restrictions still...I know Marrakesh at Epcot wouldn't allow the "Nights in Casablanca" and charged an additional fee .But the waiter will tell you that when you sit down.

This restriction concerns a multi-course fixed price meal. Some restaurants with multi-course fixed price meals in addition to an a la carte menu will not permit the fixed price meals to be ordered on the basic dining plan (mostly because they include an appetizer or multiple courses - deluxe plan users can order everything on the fixed menu anyway). Marrakesh prefers to have a surcharge for the fixed-price meals. Chefs de France and Le Cellier now have multi-course fixed price menus that you can order on basic dining, and get an appetizer. The catch is that you must order strictly from the fixed price menu, which doesn't include any of the most expensive entrees, and can't substitute anything.

Newbie to DP...

Looking at Le Cellier menu.. I see the Chef's Favorite which includes the appetizer. I can understand this not included in the DP.

Can we order the entre's such as Strip Steak and Prime Rib which are listed ala carte? Or is there a different menu for the DP ?

for awhile you could order the Chef's Favorites on the dining plan -- was apparently an experiment to see if people would go for it (the entrees & other choices were actually the less expensive items on the menu) Recent diners have said the Chef's Favorites is no longer on the menu.

You can order the filet or the steak at Le Cellier, there is no surcharge. Each entree comes with some sides like rice or potatoes. It is not a different menu for the dining plan. We loved the mushroom filet...will be there in two weeks for DH's birthday and will certainly be ordering that again! Le Cellier is 1 table service credit per person, even for the higher priced entree/dessert combinations.

Narcoosee's does not charge a "surcharge" but it is a Disney "signature" restaurant so it will cost you 2 table service credits per person so if you're on the regular dining plan, you'll have to skip a table service one day to go to a signature restaurant.

Besides the restrictions listed above, I think they mostly take care of this with making some locations 2 dining credits.

We planned on the 2TS credits for Narcosee's which actually works out perfect for us. Le Cellier is definately in the plans as well.

We decided to stay with the dining plan instead of the deluxe. I figured even with OOP meals we are better off with the basic dining plan.

I don't understand the appetizer for 3-9 year olds. Is this an adult appetizer or is it an item that the restaurants include with the kids meal. Most menu's do not list an appetizer for the children's menu. I am a little unclear on this one. Not that it is a big deal, just wanted to make sure I understand what this is.

Kids have to order from the children's menu. They do not get adult appetizers. The "appetizers" included in the children's menu are not specifically referred to on the menus as appetizers, but the kids meals are generally 3 courses. The kids usually get things like raw vegetables or a small cup of soup.
