Losing anyone this talented is always sad, but I'm trying to celebrate her life rather than mourn her passing.
She provided so many hours of entertainment for millions of people, and did so virtually right up to the end of her almost 87 years.
I heard her one woman show was amazing but, sadly, I never got to see it.
Golden Girls is television "Gold".
Maude; words can't describe how awesome this show was, and still is. A true iconic television character that would never have been so without the amazing talents of Bea Arthur.
She will truly be missed, but will keep me laughing always.

So sad to hear this. I love this lady.
My last band was named "Zbornak". We were a queer punk band, with two dykes and two bears, and we all loved Golden Girls, so we named our band after Dorothy Zbornak, Bea's character.

The lights of the marquees on Broadway will be dimmed for one minute in Bea's memory tonight at 8:00pm.

Did anyone see the little prime time tribute
CBS did last night in the space they'd normally run a commercial -
It was a nice touch and very classy.
On the Today Show - Betty and Rue said she was actually
a very shy and unassuming person.
(kinda like me. :))

I can believe that of Bea Arthur. I've known several people that were very shy and reserved offstage but were a force of nature in performance. You expect them to be very forceful away from the spotlight, but it's just not the case.
I'm just going to giggle to myself about that last part, Wally. :rotfl:

Now Rob - you've meet me - you know I'm a lamb.
Well mannered, obliging, amiable, unassuming.:flower3:
You're going to give all these guys the wrong impression of me. :guilty:
And you know how hard I work a cultivating a favorable impression.

Wally, I did meet you. And quickly realized you were trying to lull Mike and me into a false sense of security. :rotfl2:

It worked - I think :scratchin - I did see him lull a bit.
I just thought maybe the poor old thing was up past her bed time.
Now there's a golden girl.

I heard Betty and Rue - left for work before it was on but I caught it later online. It sounded like they were all really friends and I loved how Betty and Rue were kidding around. On one of the shows Rue mentioned that when her mother died and she came back home to LA after the funeral she was very down and called Bea, it was Thanksgiving and Bea was with her family but told Rue to come over immediately. She fed her and tucked her in bed. Rue said it was exactly what she needed at that moment. Rue and Bea knew each other for 37 years.
