Nope. Usually, the wind blows too hard and the umbrella is useless.

I bring rain coats and umbrellas for the entire family.
I have a stroller I can store them in.
Not sure what I will do once the two-year old outgrows a stroller.
I definately do not want to carry all those umbrellas around the park.

Nope. I'm there in the summer, so we are busy going to Kali Rapids, Splash Mountain, swimming pools, Dudley Do-Right, etc etc, so carrying an umbrella doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me. Rain isn't any wetter than the other stuff.

Umbrellas don't play well in crowds. You are better off with ponchos.

I go the poncho route. I buy a handful of the really cheap ones at our local sporting goods store and carry enough each day in the backpack for whoever might want one. Truth be told it is usually only me anyway, guess I am just not Cool! Once the rain is done we find the nearest trash can and pitch it. They never fold back to a convenient size to carry once you have opened them. I also use it on Kali River Rapids so that my hair does not get wet. I know that is lame but I just don't like for my hair to get wet. I have to use hairspay to keep my hair back out of my face so it gets really gross if it gets we then have to walk around the rest of the day looking like a rained out dog. Have a great trip!

We bring dollar tree umbrellas as well as ponchos. Sometimes an umbrella is all you need---especially if you simply go quickly from one building to another. Sometimes the rain is done by the end of your ride or show.

I agree. There is nothing like getting poked in the eye with someone else's umbrella. :headache:

No umbrella for me. Too much trouble, trying not to poke someone or something with it accidentally. I also don't want to carry one, wet or dry.
I'd rather use a poncho.

We have never brought an umbrella. Ponchos work great for us!

Stick with the dollar store ponchos, when you leave the park just throw it away. They are so cheap why bother with the hassle of wet plastic:thumbsup2

We use our Disney ponchos. They're thick and easy to fold so we've brought them on several trips. They have a lifetime guarantee too so if they rip or get a hole, just go to any place that sells them for a replacement. We still have a few of the old yellow ones.

Nope - as mentioned, umbrellas don't make for good park etiquette at all. We go every July, and swear by our Disney ponchos. As mentioned above, these are very strong and can be re-used lots of times! Dollar Store ponchos are not good at all, and if you just continuously throw them away as suggested, this is not very environmentally friendly at all.
Stay dry, Tiger

No umbrella while at Disney for us, I go get the $1 ponchos in the camping section at my local Wal mart, they are great for emergency's, as I carry one for each member in our party, I put it in the back pack. That being said, we have never had to pull them out, the one time it did rain were were browsing Innoventions and by the time we got out, it had stopped.
Umbrellas are dangerous, I can not tell you how many times I have been poked by others who do not pay attention to what they are doing (not in parks but other places).

Ponchos for us too. Much eassier to scrunch up into a bag and keeps more of you dry than an umberella does.

Please don't. I have had my eye seriously poked hard by a person with an umbrella walking with their brains in the ozone .People tend to pull them directly over their head and if you have a large crowd and short people in that crowd( me) odds are someone will get hurt. In fact in really crowded conditions I have seen Cms tell people to close their umbrellas.

I had posted, I decided I wasnt. sorry you got hurt, I am sure no one intentionally speared you.

Ouch, sorry you got poked, being on the not so tall side myself, I certainly understand how dangerous a position you are in.
My kids never understood why I would not let them have umbrellas for walking to school, I sort of consider them to be weapons, waiting for schools to figure that out.
In the meantime poncho's are inexpensive and easier to carry around.
Also, I have heard that people wear them on the Kali River Ride to help keep some of the water off, so good use if it is not raining.

Absolutely NOT:eek:Hard to store, safety issues with the crowds and tightness of the traffic flow through the parks, just one more thing to forget somewhere...with a poncho, it folds into nothing and keeps you and everything from the knees up totally dry.

We bring the kids' umbrellas. It's never rained on us, but they're soooo nice to have if you're stuck in a shadeless line on a hot afternoon!!

Last July it rained so hard one day that we were the only ones moving around with the Mickey umbrella that cost us $10. Same one at home would have been much cheaper. I stocked up on the dollar store ponchos for this trip.

I always bring a small travel-sized umbrella. Sometimes it's just too hot to wear ponchos and other times it takes longer to put them on and take them off than it does to walk to where you're going with an umbrella. Anytime I've used an umbrella, the crowds have been really thin so I've had no worries about bumping into people. I would never use one if the crowds were heavy - it's a judgement call.

I have seen plenty of others with umbrellas too when it's not crowded. Then again, we only go in very off peak times and those that I saw were just strolling. It's not like at park closing when everyone is close together going back down main st.

We not only have ponchos, especially for in the parks, but I also pack a travel umbrella as another option.
Don't want to get caught and have to be spending my vacation like this... :laundy:

I can't wear a rain poncho, so I'm bringing a travel umbrella. I promise only to use it in uncrowded areas. :thumbsup2

I like the umbrellas just because it may be a bit hot for the ponchos. Not sure what the big deal is about walking thru crowds with an umbrella. Maybe I have practice walking thru the crowded streets of New York City....never poked someone with my umbrella and never been poked either!

I pack a travel one sometimes, but never end up taking into the parks cuz it makes my bag too heavy.

I pack a travel umbrella. I usually feel it is too hot for a poncho. If an umbrella is used properly it should work great. Although I am another one with practice. I lived in DC during the time everything was flooded in 2006.
