Okay, who's in?? We all go through Disney withdrawal or count the never-ending days until our next visit, so why not get together and share in person? Anyone interested? Any ideas of when/where this could happen? DVC members step up - we all love Disney, and we could be living up the street from each other! Let's find out!:grouphug:

RFC?

04-24-2009, 03:05 PM
Anyone else have suggestions? RFC would be great as it has a 'taste' of Animal Kingdom, but parking is hard to find (and I think you have to pay), plus it's expensive. I guess it depends on how many DIS'ers respond and what dates you want to look at as to where we can meet. Niagara Falls seems pretty central to all of us in Niagara though. Any thoughts????

Maybe..let's see what the plan is.
I agree with the parking problem on clifton hill. Especially with the nicer weather here, it will just be more busy....

Oh there is the thread, I was still looking at the other one...
FRC sounds good, maybe we can walk across the street and ride Haunted Mansion ripoff (aka Ghost Blaster).
I think if we can pin trade when we meet would be cool, it remind me of beiing at Disney.
BTW, I'm going to Hong Kong this Sunday for a week. anyone wants anything from HKDL?

04-25-2009, 10:17 AM
I guess we need to pick dates - weeknights or weekends??? May or June??? I'm available May 4-31 anytime. What are everyone's thoughts and maybe we can narrow it down. Also, any ideas of where to meet that has lots of space, is inexpensive if we're eating, and where we'll be able to talk and hear each other??? Help!? :confused3

My DSis owns a place on Lundy's Lane - an eclectic tea room and breakfast eatery...not licensed and not reminiscent of Disney though.
At this time of year they serve breakfast only on Saturdays and Sundays and the tea room/shop is open all week. Starting in mid-June they start serving breakfast every day of the week. Here's a link to check it out (they are updating some things as the tourist season is just around the corner): http://www.lmteas.com/ or http://www.lidomarket.com/store/?link=11
Just a suggestion as there would be no issue with parking and they are definitely not as expensive as businesses that are closer to the Falls.
Tea room sounds very much like Grand Floridian to me!

I'm in! What a great idea "iluveeyore". I'm in Port Colborne, we're almost neighbours!
I know my family and friends are tired of talking Disney with me...They just don't get it!
I'll try to think of some "time and place" ideas and post later! I'm so excited! :thumbsup2

I think a tea room would be nice and we could support a DSis of a fellow DISer. Would we be too roudy?
A Saturday is best for me. Not May 25, maybe early June?
Time?

I'm in! I like the Tea room idea, like the quiet and the idea of supporting a fellow Dis'er. I'm not free most weekends in May (birthday and Anniversary) so June would work best for me.
Let me know!!

I posted the time, place and list of attendees so far in post 1. Quick question - is everyone bringing spouses, or just the DIS'ers? My DH loves WDW, but he doesn't post or read the DIS, so I was just coming alone. I'll bring him if there's going to be DH's there, but he won't want to attend a girl's gabfest about all things DIS!

I'm not sure if Emily would want to come. She's 12 and unless it's something for her or something she wants to do, she gets bored very quickly. But I'll ask her and see if she wants to come. Sometimes it's nice to have an afternoon to myself. Maybe I'll ask Colleen, she's older and might enjoy coming with me.:)

No, don't put it off - it's much too difficult to move everyone else's time around now that we settled on a suitable date. Let's leave it the way it is. Like I said, I'll try and switch with someone, but we don't get our schedules until the week before, so I'll have to wait and see. Don't worry, I'll be there in spirit, and if it goes well, maybe we could do another one towards the end of the year, like a DIS Christmas party! :goodvibes

We had fun! Just four of us and we talked Disney for 2+ hours - it was nice to be with others who understand all "worldly" things...:rotfl:
We all had trip stories to share - nat1234 (who made the trek from Hamilton) is debating whether to change resorts for her upcoming trip (just she and DD(13) - how fun will that be?!)...I hope you get a code soon!
wtpfan brought us WDW coasters for our tea (thanks again for that - I will be laminating mine to have on my desk at work (any small part of the world pleases me so!) and she shared her scrapbook (it is beautiful) and her family's most recent trip photos including photopass gems.
TLPL brought his DVC booklet which helped explain a bit of that largely mysterious area of WDW (for me at least) and shared his dilemma of which tour to take on his next trip: Backstage Magic or Backstage Safari....the consensus was BM!
I brought the D23 mags and the most recent Celebration issue as well as the new book "The Hidden Magic of WDW" hot off the press and picked up at Barnes and Noble just last weekend.
I, for one, hope this will be the first of the Niagara Dismeets...:goodvibes

Considering that he makes fun of what he calls my Disney "obession" I don't think that I'll ask him. I'll figure something out. I have until October.
It is all good !!! Being there is the important thing !!!

We hosted a Disney-themed family party a while back and my friend Disified wraps by adding tiny sliced gherkins to the round sliced wraps for Mickey ears. I would have never thought of that myself, but it just proves that anything can be modified to suit our collective Disobsession - no recipe required! :lmao:

Has anyone been to the Grand Floridian for the afternoon tea? We did this on our trip in May and I just loved the russian earl grey tea. If anyone is going to wdw before our dismeet in October and would be able to pick me up a can and is planning on coming to the meet I would love to be able to serve this tea at the party. Im not that much of a tea drinker but this tea sure could turn me into one! I suppose this is now a Hamilton dismeet. great way for people to visit other Ontario areas! This could become addicting!

We have been the Grand Floridian tea several times. We are tea drinkers and always have the Earl Grey. Not as good as the Twinnings Earl Grey but still pretty good. We will be down there early in October and I'll see if I can get some. Otherwise you could have the Twinnings Earl Grey that comes from the United Kingdom store at Epcot. They have all kinds of different teas.

Hi Jenroc, far as I gather it will be the weekend before halloween but not sure if everyone wants the Saturday or Sunday? Either is okay by me maybe we should do a poll? It s really not that far away really, seems that this year is just flyin by! First of July is upon us already! All the more closer to my next disney trip!:thumbsup2

Please forgive my intrusion to the thread.. but I am not sure where to tell friends of Jenroc some sad news (other than the forums I know her from). Jenroc passed away yesterday morning unexpectedly. I hope that you all will continue with the plans to meet up in October. She would love that you do and be there in spirit I am certain.
I am hoping to hear back from her family, and will post something under her profile (where friends can leave messages) of memorial/service information... if I can. Please check there by clicking on her ID.
Please remember her children and family in prayer.

That is so sad! I'm so sorry to hear this...I never had the chance to meet her in person, but her enthusiasm here on the Dis was unmistakable. She'll be missed here.
