I like motivational music. Let's face it, while I'm exercising I need all the motivation I can get.
I like listening to 70s, 80s, 90s whatever type of music is uplifting. This does include Disney park music.

...Saving Disco for vacuuming..:lmao:

I need up-tempo. Dance music of all decades, with an occasional slow song I can listen to while cooling down.

I like a mix. I have upbeat Disney songs like, Be Our Guest, Supercalifragilistic, Zip-A-Dee-Doo-dah, I Can't Wait to be King, ect...then I've got some country stuff like Swing by Trace Adkins, Climb that Mountain by Reba Mc Entire and then to make it really diverse Shoop by Salt n' Peppa, Rag Doll and Dude Looks Like a Lady by Aerosmith, Single Ladies by Beyonce, Jailhouse Rock by Elvis...you get the idea. I like variety.

I may be the odd man out on this one but I listen to podcasts. The Dis is my favorite of course but there are other Disney ones I listen to as well. Though this is not the up tempo stuff, the thought of Disney helps keep me motivated.

There is a podcast thru iTunes called Podrunner by DJ Steveboy

Great mixes for walking, jogging and running. For walking, I use the mixes that are 130-145 beats/minute. They are about 1Hr long. Check them out.

I actually listen to nothing. I found that listening to music destracts me too much from concentrating on my form and breathing while running. I also like the silence and just ambiance of the outdoors.

This was reinforced once while I was out on a run and a car was put into gear by some kids playing. The car went rolling down the driveway, through the street, and into the house across the street. Had I had headphones on I would never had heard it and I was only a house or so past the driveway when it happened. That cinched it for me.

I'm gonna try that out Kathy! Thanks! My dad loves cycling and spinning, so he might like it too!

I usually use the Podcast (or another Disney or Harry Potter podcast). I don't do music as it tends to mess up my pacing, but I will use it to get ready and/or cool down. I need to do something that is disociative. (Hey even Paula Radcliffe counts to forget about the running!)

I listen to Podcasts - the DIS Unplugged is my favorite, but it doesn't get me through a week's worth of workouts. I also listen to other Disney podcasts, as well as official and fan podcasts on some of my fave TV shows (especially LOST!). I find it much easier to "get lost" in the discussion than with music, when I'm mostly just counting songs hoping for it to end (especially if I'm on a treadmill).

There's nothing wrong with a little Bee Gees and Hoover together in harmony.

I like all different kinds of music - different things on different days. Some days it's Abba! Some days it's Bon Jovi. And sometimes it's the podcast.

I will try that podcast for walking, too. That sounds interesting!
