Hi everyone! :ccat:
I'm relatively new the the forums, and after about a year and a half of lurking, I've finally decided to step out of the internet-shadows and make myself known. ;) So, please be gentle! I'll try to be as organized as possible with my PJ!
You ladies have all been awesome sharing your details in your planning journals, and it's been very helpful to me! Lots of wonderful ideas, for sure. So thank you!
Okaaay, first things first! My name is Anjanette :bride: and I'm 24 years old. My fiance's name is Jason :groom: and he's 34 years old. We live together in southern California.
Our Story
The two of us met as many couples do, through our workplace. I'm painfully shy in person, and it took months of working together before we started to develop a friendship. We used the wonders of the internet (MySpace and AIM) to better get to know one another. We'd always had the common interest of being huge into Disneyland, and the Nightmare Before Christmas; however, we had no idea just how much we really had in common until we started to talk much more. The more we talked, the quicker and harder we both fell for one another! :lovestruc We had planned a trip to Disneyland a while before that, and at that point were counting down the days. We had our very first date in the park on May 1, 2007 and we've been inseparable ever since!
Here's a recent picture of the two of us at Disneyland:

The Proposal Story
On December 15, 2007 the two of us had gone to Disneyland with my parents. Jason had me completely fooled into believing we were meeting up with his family to go Christmas shopping for his nieces. Being the gullible silly-head I am, I bought it.
After spending some time all together, and having gone on a few rides, we made our way back to a trading pin cart we often frequented. Jason told me to stay with the others while he got me something. There was a new pin out I had been lusting after, so I figured that's what it was. Sure enough, he comes back with a small bag. I reached inside and see the pin. He then tells me to take it off its backing and put it on. This was strange to me, because I never wear the pins. So I go to take it off its backing, and a ring falls off the back... Jason gets down on one knee to pick it up and pops the question!

Needless to say, I said yes. :teeth:

Plans Thus Far!
Since the two of us got to know eachother thanks to our interest in Disneyland, he proposed to me there, and we both just love the place... there was no need for us to shop venues! We both knew a DFTW was the only way for us to go.
Our wedding is already booked, and our wedding coordinator is a sweet lady named Cynthia, I love her so far! Our official date is May 8, 2010. We're having a mid-morning ceremony at the Disneyland Hotel Rose Court Garden, with a pre-reception to follow on the Dreams Lawn while our photos are being taken. After we're done with pictures, our reception will be held in the Sleeping Beauty Pavilion.

Forgive my goober smile in that one picture, and the blurriness in the other! I promise I will take more when I go back for the official fitting. The dress is by a designer named Kittychen. The veil I'm wearing is not the veil I will wear for the wedding either, however, the length will be the same. My veil is going to be custom made using the same tulle used on my dress. That material has sparkles in the fabric itself. :goodvibes It's so pretty!

It's the same dress, but in the different colors. Now, the dress is from David's Bridal, and they have this little "dress your bridal party" thingy I'm sure many of you are acquainted with. Here's a lineup of how the coloring will look.

Floral:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v476/anjiechan/wedding/3dd0dee5.jpg
We just booked our florist over the weekend, and this was a little sample she threw together for us. These are the type of flowers that will be used in my bridesmaid's bouquets. My bouquet will be cascading, and mainly white roses and lilies with touches of purple orchids and other flowers.
Our centerpieces are going to be different from this, but it'll give you the gist! I think I may have stole this picture from somebody else's PJ, so thanks to whoever if I did! Lol :p Anyhow! Our centerpieces will have stemmed floating teal dyed purple dendrobium bombay orchids. Hopefully with scattered petals of some sort around the vase.

Here's an example of what the dyed flowers will look a bit like:

And these will be at the bottom of the vase...

Unity Ceremony:
We decided a sand unity ceremony would be nice to have, and it would leave us with some neat looking keepsakes afterwards. <3

Hi Anjanette, that's a beautiful name. Is there a history behind it?
I'm Amy. I'm not planning to get married anytime soon, but I like reading the diaries. I'll be watching yours and Jason's story.

Aw, thanks Amy! :)
Well... my grandmother (my mom's mother) was born in France, and my mom wanted to give me a French name. My mom's name is Janet and when my parents were looking through a baby name book, they happened upon Anjanette. It was French and happened to have my mom's name in it too. Sooo, it was everything they wanted. That's the story. Not all that exciting, really. Hehe.
Thank you so much for reading!

You know, I was thinking the same exact thing whenever I looked on the boards! So I'll be happy if anything I share will be of use to somebody looking to plan a DL wedding. :teeth: The venues are actually at the Disneyland Hotel. I'll have to see about scanning a map of the hotel so you can see where exactly. To have a wedding IN the Disneyland, I think the rates start at a minimum of $40,000 and it's very limited on when (in front of Sleeping Beauty castle) and where (after the park closes). We wanted a Disney wedding, but one within our means :rolleyes1 hehe.
Thank you much for the compliments! The people in the background are all his family, and my parents were on the other side taking pictures. Thanks again for reading!

Yay! Thank youuu! I'll keep you all posted! We're a couple weeks away from the year mark, and we've got our first big planning session coming up with our Disney wedding coordinator. So, hopefully I'll have lots of juicy details after that for sure!
And I promise I'll try to post as many photos are possible! :goodvibes

Lol, noway!! What are the odds?!
You know.. I was originally sold on a couple different Maggie Sottero dresses. I got there, tried them on and wasn't too impressed with them. I needed more sparkle, so the girl who was helping me got me into this one and I fell in love. :cloud9:
Anyway, that's too awesome. It's a small world after all... :rotfl:

Oh yeah! That tulle is sooo pretty! That really is too funny! But, you wound up with a gorgeous dress anyway! I remember, 'cause I just checked out your PJ the other day. :hyper:
My dress was $1,900 after tax, but that's including cups sewn into it for me and the material for my veil. Mine's without a hoop too, but sheesh. I don't think it really needs it. It's poofy enough for my liking. Lol

Alrighty ladies! I'm looking for opinions, and since you all have excellent taste - I figure this is a good place to ask!
First off, I'm looking to add Nightmare Before Christmas elements to our wedding, without allowing the theme to take over. My DF and I have been discussing having a Jack and Sally wedding cake. My only thing is... I want it to include our colors and still look like a wedding cake. Knowing how creative the Disney bakers are, I'm not too worried. I guess my concern is, whether they can pull this off. Did any of you other Disney brides have somewhat custom cakes? Does anyone know much about it?
Once I meet up with our coordinator next month, I can ask her for myself but for know... I figure maybe one of you would know?
I found a cake that's just beautiful (and I even found where to get the figures they used for the caketopper), but I'm curious how they'd work in our colors instead of the yellow.
Here's the cake: http://blog.pinkcakebox.com/topsy-turvy-corpse-bride-grooms-cake-2008-08-31.htm
Potential shoes!
Okee doke, my other thing is my search for the perfect shoes. I want to wear heels for the ceremony but I want ones that will not be too big. I'm 5'3" and my DF is 6'. I love our height difference and I still want to be somewhat short to him in our wedding photos. So I'm trying to limit myself to 2 inch heels. Haha.
So, here are the shoes I'm trying to decide between as of now:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v476/anjiechan/wedding/60cc366d.jpg
What do you think? Shoe number one or number 2?
I'm switching into white Converse at the reception, so it's not necessarily a matter of comfort or anything. Just whatever is cuter. :p

Ah that price isnt bad- well although i loved the dress, i knew it was too expensive for me and my mum agreed (although she loved it!) I know i have my dress, but now i have your dress to oogle at when it comes to your wedding- and im tooo excited about that! I thought that the hoop that the lady gave me in the shop made the bottom feel very heavy, and i took it off and the dress felt fine! Im so happy you got that dress! (we both have sparkly cinderella dresses! yay!!)
that tulle at the bottom is really pretty- that was my most favourite part of that dress- sooo sparkly!
Both of those shoes are really nice- but some advice that i was told while trying on tulle dresses- try to aviod shoes that have diamonds/ diamontes on them because the tulle nearly always gets caught on them and rips- the way around it ripping is to put cling film / or something clear over the diamonds to stop it from catching. Both of the shoes are nice- they are what i would be looking for, because they are just the perfect height i think!

It is kind of a pricey dress, but I was worried my dress was going to be closer to $3,000 so I thought the price wasn't too too awful. ;) We are both going to be prettiful and sparkly in our princess gowns! Hooray! Can't wait to see you in yours!!!

Ahh! Corpse Bride cake, but that shows those shades of colors can work. I know if I have them do it, that I'll definitely have to allow black worked in but I'd love to see what could be done!

I'll probably just have to talk to my coordinator and see what she knows and go from there! Either way, I'd be happy to have my NMBC stuff worked into the wedding a bit.
I completely forgot one other thing we'd pretty much decided upon! As far as I know, we're going with the candy bar/buffet for our favors. Most of our wedding guests are family, and many of them have children so we figured it would be a good idea.
Examples of what it'll be like (only with candy in our color hues):

I'm having trouble finding invitations in our colors... even if I'm after just one or the other. There's plenty of invitations in lavender and none whatsoever in teal. I'm totally considering DIY invites, but I'm worried about how much of a headache that would be for me. Any suggestions??

Disney might do it, I'm not sure.
I can find out soon for you ladies though! My DF just called a few minutes ago, and officially set up our one year mark (I can't believe it!) planning session with our wedding coordinator, Cynthia! So, I'm going to have a ton of questions for her. Our appointment is at 9:30am pst on May 8th. I'll be sure to fill you guys in on all I learn from it.

Oooo yey a Disneyland bride! I was so sad when Val called off her wedding, it was supposed to be next week I think. Her PJ is still around I believe, it might help you out with your planning, she had done a lot.
Anywho. That dress is gorgeous. Too funny that Stacey tried it on too! I loove your colors. I'm sure Disney will find a great way of incorporating the colors and the NBC characters.
Can't wait to see how it all comes together popcorn::

Oh, yay! I've never seen a Disneyland bride on here before! You and your DF are too cute!! Your dress is GORGEOUS, and it looks great on you!! As for my opinion on the shoes... I like the first ones! I'm just partial to open toed shoes though!! Can't wait to read more!

Those candy bars you posted look great! We are going to do that as well... although I am sure mine won't look that nice lol! I don't know if I could make everything match that well lol.
How are you going to incorporate Jack and Sally in the wedding? I love the cakes so much! The NBC is very cool and would probably work really well with your color choices:goodvibes

First off, thanks to all of you for showing so much support and interest already! I really appreciate it!

Aw, thank youuu!! I think I'm leaning towards the open toed shoes too. They look like the heel is a tiny bit shorter and I love anything with a bit of vintage flair. :goodvibes

Thank you, thank you! We're going to try and do the best we can with the candy bar. Thankfully my MoH and another bridesmaid of mine are going to be helping me out with ours. Our colors are going to be the tricky part for the candy. Plenty of purple candy out there, but only teal m&ms. So, we're going to try and stay within the hues of the colors. So purple and blues mainly. We'll see! And I'm sure your guys candy bar will look fabulous too! ;) Thankfully there are good pics of people who have made pretty ones, so girls like you and I have a template to go by. Hehe.
As for Jack and Sally... it's going to be tricky! I talked with my DF more about it last night, honestly. He's not sold on the caketopper I want. He's worried it will seem too goth-weddingish if we include them. I'm trying very hard to convince him we can do it and still make everything very, us. We're quirky and super big geeks so I think it could work.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v476/anjiechan/wedding/0b40b019.jpg
Other than the caketopper, I want to use Jack and Sally toasting flutes and I have two little mini bust collectibles I would love to put on our sweetheart table. Maybe uh, dress them up for the occasion? Like, put a tophat on Mr. Skellington and a veil on Sally. Hehe. I'm a big collector of NMBC so, I've got some other things too. My other idea is to sneak in the lyrics from their duet in the Finale song into the decor or our invitations or something --
"My dearest friend, if you don't mind
I'd like to join you by your side
Where we can gaze into the stars
And sit together, now and forever
For it is plain as anyone can see
We're simply meant to be"

Song choices
We're going to have a harpist for the ceremony, so no songs have been decided for that as of yet. As for our reception, we don't have all of our music picked out, but we do have a few songs figured out for the reception.
Entrance: Imperial March by John Williams (yep! we both love Darth Vader and we're trying to keep it a secret from most of our guests)
Father/daughter dance: Cinderella by Steven Curtis Chapman
Mother/son dance: Still Fighting It by Ben Folds
Garter removal/toss: Desire by U2
Bouquet toss: Ooh La La by Goldfrapp
Cake cutting: Sweetest Thing by U2
And of course. I'm saving the best for last. Our first dance is going to be to a song called The Luckiest by Ben Folds. Jason actually played it for me not quite a year ago, and we both knew it would be our song. It's just perfect for us. I'll share the lyrics with you guys --
"I don't get many things right the first time
In fact, I am told that a lot
Now I know all the wrong turns, the stumbles and falls
Brought me here
And where was I before the day
That I first saw your lovely face?
Now I see it everyday
And I know
That I am
I am
I am
The luckiest
What if I'd been born fifty years before you
In a house on a street where you lived?
Maybe I'd be outside as you passed on your bike
Would I know?
And in a white sea of eyes
I see one pair that I recognize
And I know
That I am
I am
I am
The luckiest
I love you more than I have ever found a way to say to you
Next door there's an old man who lived to his nineties
And one day passed away in his sleep
And his wife; she stayed for a couple of days
And passed away
I'm sorry, I know that's a strange way to tell you that I know we belong
That I know
That I am
I am
I am
The luckiest"
Potential jewelry
I'm pretty convinced I want to get this Disney necklace by Kristie Kelly, but I'm still going to look around.

Problem is I also really like this other necklace/earring combo by her, but I think it would be too long for my neckline on my gown. I'm thinking a shorter necklace would be better. That and I really like pearls. ;) But check it out and let me know what you guys think!

Congrats on the engagement and hurray for a DCL bride. The pavillion looks wonderful. I can't wait!!!
I think shoe #1 is WAY cuter, and will go better with your hairstyle.
I love that you are doing the imperial march...I'm a HUGE star wars geek (on the day of our engagement DF bought me a Millennium Falcon kite).

The last two are from Etsy.com. They are handmade and customizable because the other colors are not quite right.
That candy buffet looks delish!! But beware of dark colored candy: purple blue etc...don't want wedding pics of blue mouthed people!

Wow I can't believe how much you have figured out! everything seems great! I like the caketopper. As long as the cake itself isn't black I dont' think it would be too goth (and no one likes black icing anyway). The belle necklace seems to be pretty popular I have seen someone else on this board with interest in it too.
BTW I don't know if I mentioned before or not - but I really love your dress! Its the perfect balance between big and puffy and easy to dance in.

Thank you kindly! I'm leaning towards shoe number 1 also! I really wanted to do a birdcage veil originally, and if I was still going with that... it wouldn't have been any competition. That shoe would have been it. Hehe. But I still think it will be. :goodvibes
Star Wars rocks!! So yay! I'm glad I'm not the only geeky bride on here! ;) Jason and I have a little bit of a Darth Vader collection. Haha, so it just seems appropriate.
You are awesome! Thanks for finding those invitations for me! I had found the first out of them, and I reaaally love them... but they're super expensive. :worried: I will definitely check out the ones from Etsy.com though! I'd be quite pleased if I could get some in our colors, but if it's still real expensive, I may have to go with something more generic.
And I appreciate the tip! That is a good point I hadn't thought of. :rotfl: Blue/purple mouths wouldn't be very nice for photos.

You are too sweet, Cassie! Thank you! I'm trying my best to stay ahead of the game so that no detail will sneak up on me and stress me out closer to the big day! Lol. That's my big worry! So the more my DF and I can figure out early - the better!
I think you're absolutely right about the cake. I tried to explain that to him too. Disney would work their magic for me if I requested it, I just know it! I wish I could find an example of what I want. Because I'm thinking white tiered cake with our teal/dark purple stripes or little swirly designs on it, and then tiny bits of black accents to tie it all together.
Aaand, sincerely, I'm really into that Ariel necklace. I keep looking at it and with how sparkly my dress it, I just think it would be perfect.

I'm a SUPER star wars geek. I have SW legos and my brother even bought me a life size Han Solo cutout haha. :lmao: I have figures as well. It doesn't hurt I have 2 older brothers so I was more into Star Wars than barbies. I definitely want to include it in the wedding somehow. And don't forget about Lurkyloo. At her MK shoot they did the Luke/Leia pose from Episode 4.
And I LOVE that necklace. I think it would be so lovely with your dress. I don't think you'd need dramatic earrings as well, especially with a birdcage veil.

Ok I love the topper it is super cute! I think if you are both NMBC fans then go for it, and dressing up jack and Sally would be super cute... maybe make them mini Mickey Bride and Groom ears lol! The lyrics are perfect too, maybe use them as a theme throughout the wedding... they are just perfect!
As far as the jewlery, I got the snow white earrings from that line and I really like them, but I see what you mean about pieces not really being mix and matchable. The Belle set is very elegent though, I saw it at a bridal store and it really sparkled, I think with eithier one you will be fine. Good quality pieces and unique styling too

That rocks! I certainly identify. I have two older brothers too! So I used to play with their Star Wars toys, Transformers and Ninja Turtles. Of course, on the other end of the spectrum... I had My Little Ponies also. Hehe. I'm sure you'll think of some kick butt way to include your Star Wars love!
And thank you! I tend to agree. I'm not a big jewelry kind of girl to begin with, so I think a pretty necklace would be enough for me. I'd probably get some simple sparkly or pearl earrings if I go with that necklace.

Bit of an update!
DF and I were talking and decided picking out a photographer would be our next wedding endeavor. I've had my eye on this one photographer that was recommended to me by my MoH (her best friend's sister's wedding was done by them). So, I left my information earlier today and got a call back this afternoon.
I set up an appointment for us to meet with her same day we meet with our wedding coordinator for the big planning session. :hyper: The reason I did it same day, is because this photographer is conveniently enough in Anaheim and very close to the Disneyland Hotel! So, we'll go do our weddingy stuff, and then go hang out at the park the rest of the day. :thumbsup2
Most of you other Disbrides are on the opposite side of the country, but check out her wedding gallery on her website if you'd like - http://www.squareeyephoto.com (http://www.squareeyephoto.com/). I really like her style!

Update on the last update (& then some)
Sooo... scratch the appointment with that photographer. I'm very bummed to say that she called and left me a voicemail today, explaining she'd have to cancel our appointment because our wedding date is booked with her now. :sad2: She's the only photographer I've really liked so far, that wasn't outrageously priced... sigh. Guess I have to keep looking.
I know most of you girls are not in the California area, but if anyone has any recommended photographers for out here, I'd love to hear about 'em!
Anyhoo, onto happier things...
Possible honeymoon ideas!
Originally, we were going to do a mini road trip up to northern California for our honeymoon. I'm sort of chicken about planes, and we just didn't have the money to do much else. Well, Jason's father has offered to give us two thousand dollars as a wedding present so we can have a better honeymoon.
Lately, the DF and I have been discussing places. We narrowed it down to Hawaii (I've never been there, and yes I know it's a cliche honeymooning spot Lol) and Walt Disney World (neither of us has been there). After looking up prices for hotels in Hawaii... WDW is looking like it's going to win out.
The thing is, I really want to stay at one of the deluxe hotels. This would easily tag on an extra $1500 for us, but I'm wondering if it's worth it? I think it would be nice to stay somewhere a bit classier and more romantic, being that it's our honeymoon. The Polynesian Resort has me most interested. Any of you ladies stayed there, and what did you think? Any info on the hotels would be most welcomed and appreciated!
And, last but not least!
DF/Groomsmen tux appointment
This coming Monday, Jason and I have an appointment at Men's Wearhouse to pick out his tuxedo and the groomsmen. Seeing as the photographer one didn't pan out, I'm looking forward to this one. The sooner we get this squared away, the sooner the boys can get in there and get fitted! So yay! I will update next week after the choices are all made. :thumbsup2

YAY for the WDW honeymoon - if you have never been you are going to love it!!!
I know you don't like planes but hear me out....
I think florida is great - but at the same time I just want to point out that you could probably do hong kong DL for the same price (or less). You can buy an annual pass for the park for less than $100 and their version of the GF is amazing and with the annual pass rooms are 50% off so they are like $150 a night for good rooms (plus I am sure they would upgrade you). Air from LAX is only like 600 RT with taxes. We didn't wait for in a single line the entire time it felt like we had the entire park and resort to ourselves and the rides are really really cool. I would really really look into it - just because its one of my most favorite places in the world.

Thanks Cassie! I'll definitely have to look into it! Ideally, our dream is to visit ALL of the Disney parks someday! ;) Will we ever be able to afford it all? Probably not, but it's nice to think about! Hehe.
If I had it my way, and if we had the $$$, we'd be going to Japan for our honeymoon. Visit Tokyo Disney and the Disney Seas park while we're there. Honestly, I would love to go to DLP before that even, but Jason got to go there when he was in the army and stationed overseas.
We'll check out our options though, depending upon affordability!
OH! You know, on the matter of HKDL, you might be interested in this! I'm thinking we should talk to Jason's cousin! He works as a Dapper Dan regularly at DL here, but got sent to the Hong Kong park for the past 9 months or so. Maybe between you and him, we'll get persuaded into going there instead of WDW. Lol.

I begged and pleaded our guests to let us have our wedding there. I am so over the top in love with the place. Its so clean you could eat off the ground. Every morning they have people who specifically just clean out the inside of the trash cans - its really really amazing.
The DL hotel (GF =), well I can't say its a million times better than the WDW one b/c I don't want to upset a lot of people - but it is!!
Japan is super over priced. A cup of coffee is like $18. The Miracosta is fabulous! but its also like 600 a night. I loved Tokyo Disney Sea, but wasn't really fond of the DL park there - it was an exact replica of DL in CA and wasn't worth the trip to see it. The disneyland hotel in paris starts at like 800 a night. The prices are really really ridiculous.
HK is def a diamond in the rough and another plus is that Hong Kong used to be part of great britain up until the early 80s, so everyone speak english really well.
There is this super cool mickey subway that takes you straight from DL to downtown HK (you have to change trains once) but its soooo easy.
I have been to all of the parks. I could go on and on forever about HK but thats what I would do. We would def be honeymooning there - except we were just there and we are hoping to go back shortly anyway for a good friend of DFs wedding in HK.
WDW is really great too. If you have never been I am sure you will love it! The biggest difference is that HK is super relaxing because there isn't as much to do so you can take your time and not feel guilty about spend time napping by the pool. But at the same time WDW has sooo much more to do - and the fireworks are better. I guess a big part of it depends on what kind of a trip you have in mind.
Anyhoo let me know if I can help with anything.

That's so awesome! You're a lucky girl, having gotten to visit all the parks! That rocks!! :worship: I'm thinking that for the two of us, WDW is going to be most ideal. We want to check things out at our leisure, but we also want plenty to do.
So, my next question is... what of the WDW hotels have you stayed at, and which would you recommend?? I'm pretty convinced Polynesian Resort is my first pick, but what do you think? Have you stayed there before?
Thank you in advance, my dear!

I think the Poly could be a lot of fun! Everyone on the boards seems to rave about it. I didn't like it that much when we were there but thats just me and I am weird. An upside is being able to see the fireworks from the beach.
AKL is great we always have really liked staying there, plus its one of the cheaper deluxes. One of the downsides (maybe an upside?) is that its more secluded, you have to take the bus everywhere and the bus rides take a little longer. The restaurants are excellent. I have no complaints other than the distance away from all of the parks other than AK.
The GF is a bit stuffy but I think a lot of fun especially for a honeymoon. The MK is right there and I don't know I just always liked it. Its nice to walk back in the afternoon and have an orchestra playing in the lobby. You have to eat at Victoria and Alberts - its really an experience that I wouldn't miss.
Once when I was much younger we were in the hot tub and the last people to leave. I grabbed my bathrobe and the next morning stuck my hand in the pocket and pulled out this huge diamond ring!!! Not that it matters for anyone else stay but it was a huge highlight of mine - until my parents made me turn it in :rotfl:
DF has an obsession with the WL. It has a very rustic camp feel and the pool is very cool. It also has a really really cool restaurant with a wild west theme and unlimited refills on milkshakes! I think the rooms are very plain though. I also think the Poly rooms are plain as well.
My favorite waterslide is the yacht/beach club. I also like the Boardwalk just because its so easy to get to epcot and there is so much to do on the boardwalk itself.
When I was really little we always stayed at the Contemp just because it was the first stop coming back from the MK so it was easy for naps for my little sis. They recently redid all of the rooms to have a really modern feel. If you get a tower room facing the park - the view of the fireworks is really great and you can watch people go down splash mountain! Chef Mickeys is fun for breakfast but other than that I always felt the hotel kind of lacked in disney theming. The interior of the tower has been redone many times but still in my opinion looks kind of drab.
All of the resorts have positives and negatives and you just have to figure out what fits you guys best.
I don't know if it helps but for our guests we are putting everyone in either the WL (if DF gets his way) or the Contemp for the beginning and most likely the Boardwalk at the end. All three hotels were choosen mainly for convenience over everything else.

Sorry to hear about the photographer. I'm sure you'll find an awesome one! You've got time.
Either honeymoon places sounds amazing. You could always go to WDW and do a cruise you can get both the disney and the tropical feel. I've only been to AKL and Poly's restaurants but from what I've seen the lobbies are really beautiful.
Also I was playing around on etsy.com and searched for disney wedding stuff and found these and immediately thought of you:

Yay for being one year out! I love your ceremony site. Last time I was at Disneyland I stayed at the DL Hotel and saw a wedding going on there and decided then and there that was where I wanted to get married. Unfortunately my family all lives on the east coast and has several children in it under 3 so travelling to DL wasn't a possibility and WDW won out.
If you've never been to WDW I'd definitely pick it for a honeymoon. This time of year is a great time to be at WDW. It's starting to get hot but is still manageable and the crowds are minimal. If you are a Star Wars fan you might even be lucky enough to be here during a Star Wars weekend. They change the dates of that every year but the flower and garden show at Epcot should be going on at that time too and I think the dates for that are already out.
It is also my dream to visit all the Disney Parks. I didn't think it would ever happen due to the cost but I was lucky enough to visit Tokyo and Hong Kong last year so now I only have one more park to go. :) DF was sent to work in HK for a few months so I took advantage of the free place to stay and there was no way I was flying that far and not stopping in Tokyo, especially since all the flights from Orlando connected in Tokyo anyways. I liked HK DL a lot but it is VERY small. After about 2 1/2 days there I'd seen and done absolutely everything (some several times) and this was Christmas/New Year's week so the park was really busy. I found I'd rather explore the rest of HK than go back to the Park and the rest of HK is pretty expensive. HK is an amazing city though and I'd go back in a heartbeat.
I wouldn't rule out going to Tokyo. I have a friend that lives on the West Coast and he flies there at this time of year for $600 or less round trip. The parks are amazing and you can stay in a hotel across the street and just walk to the monorail station. The people there didn't always speak English but they were soooo friendly and always willing to try or find someone that did.
If you end up at WDW look at the moderate hotels. They are a nice compromise if you can't afford a deluxe. If you've never been to WDW you probably won't be spending a lot of time in your hotel room anyhow. Port Orleans would be very nice for a honeymoon.
I can't wait to hear about your planning session!

WE'RE ONE YEAR AWAY FROM THE WEDDING!!!!!!!!
:hyper: :goodvibes :cloud9:
Hehe! I'll be at our planning session with Cynthia tomorrow (and visiting the park afterwards) but I had to post it! I'm getting so so so SO excited now! Hopefully I'll have lots of interesting stuff to update on when I get back from the session.
Take care and have a happy Friday everyone!
Congrats!!!! :Less then 1 Year then today Woohoo! I hope you have a great PS and an even better time at the park! I will admit I am a bit jealous that you are having fun in DL right now while I sit at work lol! Can't wait for all your updates:goodvibes

My favorite resort is the Wilderness Lodge
I've never stayed at the Poly though. My MOH used to be a concierge there. If you are going with a moderate resort instead of a deluxe then I highly recommend Port Orleans Riverside. My parents always stay there, they even prefer it to the Wilderness Lodge lol Animal Kingdom Lodge is also really cool my mom wants to buy DVC there and we had a blast when she stayed there for a night in December. Also if you like Pirates pirate: they have new pirate themed rooms at Caribbean Beach which look really cool though I have not seen them in person.
Anyways,
yey! for one year!!!!
Hope your PS went well and can't wait to hear all about it!!!!:cheer2:

Thanks so much for the advice!
I was actually looking into the Orleans hotels if we wouldn't be able to afford one of the deluxe ones for that many days. It looks pretty nice, and New Orleans Square is our favorite area in DL, so it might be a nice alternative. :thumbsup2 OH! And hopefully we will be going on a Star Wars weekend, like you said. That'd be perfect! Thank you for reading!
Congrats!!!! :Less then 1 Year then today Woohoo! I hope you have a great PS and an even better time at the park! I will admit I am a bit jealous that you are having fun in DL right now while I sit at work lol! Can't wait for all your updates:goodvibes
Thank you, thank you! :teeth: Sadly we didn't go into the park afterall, but our PS was great! Be filling you all in on it in just a bit...

All the hotels look so nice! I'm going to have a heck of a time deciding. The one thing that makes me feel good, is that several of you have mentioned a specific one is your favorite, but they've all been different. This tells me their resorts are pretty darn nice! ;) I think I'd be thrilled to stay at any of them, so long as it's not the "value" ones. I'm sure those are just fine, but for a honeymoon, they seem sort of... uh, for lack of a better word, tacky. :rolleyes1
Anyhoo, thank you!!! :woohoo: I'm just slightly excited about it! Hehe.
Now, I'm going to go make another post with all the updates from the PS...

Updates from the planning session!
I've returned from the PS (well, we did yesterday actually but y'know)! And I bear exciting new info regarding the wedding! :woohoo:
But before that, I'll share a smallish picture of what my DF's tux he picked out will look like. He's going to look so very handsome in it!:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v476/anjiechan/wedding/6442fb2f.jpg
ALRIGHTY! So, we were a few minutes late thanks to good ol' Californian traffic. But, I had called Cynthia to give her a heads up! Once we got there, parked, and all that we were much more relaxed and excited.
We covered everything! :goodvibes I'll start with menu, because it sounds delicious and I can't wait for our tasting!! Oh! And we finally took a picture of where our pre-reception will be held.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v476/anjiechan/wedding/54e5ef69.jpg
Pre-reception menu!
And, at the pre-reception our guests will be having the Heartland Selection and Crudites Array.
The Heartland Selection consists of: mild tillamook cheddar, laura chenel goat cheese rolled in chives, candied pecans & cracked black pepper, cheese torta: layers of cream cheeses with sun-dried tomato pesto & basil pesto, brie en croute with caramelized apples & pecans. Phew. Okay, and the
And the Crudites Array is: garden fresh baby vegetables displayed in a unique and bountiful presentation to include carrots, celery, red & yellow pear tomatoes, english cucumbers, asparagus, broccoli, & jicama with buttermilk bleu cheese & pepper herb.
Since we chose the harpist for our ceremony, we decided to have her continue over to the pre-reception to play more classy music for our guests. We won't get to be there for it, but I think it'll create an awesome atmosphere. :lovestruc
We're also going to have her price how much it'd be to drape material (with lighting in it) from around the chandelier in our reception area. I'm hoping it's not TOO pricey, because I've seen it before and it's just gorgeous. Here's to hoping!
Now onto our reception menu!
Artisan bread basket.
Caesar salad with baby romaine lettuce, focaccia croutons, parmesan crisp & tangy lemon dressing.
Roasted meyer lemon chicken breast with garlic jus, roasted garlic mashed potatoes, asparagus spears, carrots & squash.
Tahitian vanilla bean creme brulee with seasonal berries.
Freshly brewed coffee, decaf coffee, & specialty teas.
Business with the cake!
Yummy! Now, the good news is -- I TALKED DF INTO MY DREAM CAKE! :hyper:
I explained to our coordinator what I had in mind, and she said that the pastry chef could of course make it happen. So, I ordered the cake topper as soon as I got home! It's going to be on top of a mad hatter styled cake. The cake itself with be primarily white, but will include our colors. Like, one tier will be black and white striped, another will be white with teal swirl designs, and another will be dark purple with white polka dots. Or something like that. Jason is good at drawing, so he's going to try and sketch up what we have in mind so we can send it to Cynthia.
We also decided on a different flavor for each tier of cake! :goodvibes
First tier: marble cake, white chocolate mousse, fresh red raspberries, with an amaretto cake soak.
Second tier: red velvet cake, with cream cheese filling.
Third tier: Lemon poundcake, coconut cream filling, with coconut rum cake soak. :cloud9: (We love love love coconut!)
For those of you who haven't seen, this will be our caketopper:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v476/anjiechan/wedding/0b40b019.jpg
My next purchase is going to be our champagne flutes! WHICH by the way, we've cleared with Cynthia what we will be toasting with... our most favorite of Disney park drinks, MINT JULEP! We couldn't be happier! No icky tasting champagne for us. So, here's the glasses I'll be buying shortly for us:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v476/anjiechan/wedding/749eae72.jpg
Ummm... trying to make sure I covered the most interesting things! We're going with their standard white linens, which are nice on their own, but we're going to be having teal and dark purple napkins. We're doing white chair covers with sashes with the same colors too. One table will be dark purple napkins/sashes, another will be teal, and it'll alternate. Hopefully it'll look quite nice!
I think that about does it for now!
Since we were there on the actual one year from our big day, we went over and took pics of the roses in bloom. The weather was absolutely perfect, so we can only hope it'll be that nice next year! Here's a couple pictures of our site from yesterday.

Two more things! I'm now leaning towards just getting some cute flats rather than heels, because I'm so wanting to have our height difference to be obvious in our photos. I never wear heels normally, so why should I on our wedding day? :confused3
So, I found these and I'm really really liking them.

Soo, poking around online lately I think I've decided on some other items!
Thanks to LLLBelle, I checked out pinkmarie.com and found the perfect dress for my flower girls! It goes well with my dress (with the beading up top and tulle on the bottom) and will look precious on the girls. :flower3:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v476/anjiechan/wedding/73c28155.jpg
And only $58!! Compared to most everywhere else, it's a steal! I've seen less detailed dresses going for $120 and up! So I think this is perfect.
And David's Bridal has their baskets! One will be in teal, the other in dark purple. :cutie:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v476/anjiechan/wedding/8ae9292a.jpg
And, there's a matching ringbearer pillow in the same style! My ringbearer is my nephew, and my brother is my DF's best man, so my RB is wearing teal vest/tie to match his daddy. So I think I'll have him carry dark purple to contrast.

Last, but not least, I found this beautiful bridal haircomb on etsy that I just love.

I'm going to apologize ahead of time, because I need to get this off my chest! It is at least a wedding planning related rant!
So, yesterday one of my sister-in-laws contacted me because she couldn't make the dress fitting I have scheduled for Saturday. No big deal! She asked me if I could meet her at David's Bridal before the end of the week instead. I called that day, explained my situation to the girl on the phone and scheduled an appointment for this afternoon. My SIL and I go in, and they let us stand around for at least 10 minutes before helping us (and I had a bloody appointment!! :headache:). I figure... okay, that's fine! It seems a tiny bit busier than I thought it might be.
The girl asked me which dress I had in mind, I show her and she grabs a couple sizes for my SIL to try on. She takes us to the dressing room area, and then botled! She never ONCE came back to check on us to see if we had any questions, whether we needed a different dress, etc. I am so angry with their crappy service! This is not the first time they've been rude and inconsiderate to me like this either!
The first time I went into the store was about a month and a half ago. I went to check out the BM dresses I liked in person. I got ignored for a good 20 minutes. The store was empty too and I was told someone would be with me to help me out. Finally somebody came along, which wasn't even the person that was sent to help me, who asked me if I needed help! Unbelievable. :snooty: On top of THAT, they didn't have the dress in either of my colors and there were absolutely no swatches available in that color for me to see!
Grrr! I've still got my appointment with them for 3 of my BMs to get fitted... if they aren't more attentive this time, I may be searching for new BM dresses soon. :sad2:
I'm not sure if they don't think I'm a serious buyer because I'm young, or what? Although I'm not nearly as young as they might think I am! Sheesh! Either way, it's completely unprofessional and downright poor customer service. I went to see if I could find an email address on their website, and conveniently enough, there is none to be found.
Has anyone else had problems with David's Bridal?? I know several of you have gotten your wedding gowns there, so I'm hoping you were all treated much better than I was!

I do not like David's bridal either. My BF got married a year ago, and we picked out her dress there and had an awful time. They gave us crummy service first off, and then completely screwed up her dress when they altered it. She had to go back like three times, and each time they made the dress worse, and worse. She finally had to choose a completely different wedding dress two weeks before her wedding. The we fought round and round with the store manager and they gave her a discount on a new dress, and some free jewelry. Big woop! They were horrible!!!!
In another wedding, they ordered the BM dresses in the wrong color, and made us all take that one since they didn't have time to order new ones. Be careful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I stood around trying to ask about white gloves for at least 20 mins. and I was practically the only person there! I finally gave up and left. I will not shop there EVER EVER AGAIN.
Sorry you had such a bad experience - I would honestly go elsewhere - I think we should all boycott the place.

I truly appreciate the input ladies! I think I'm going to look into the Alfred Angelo dresses just in case...
I'm keeping my appointment with David's Bridal for tomorrow, but we'll see how it goes. If they are as bad as they have been to me, I refuse to have my girls spend their money there. :snooty: I'll let you all know what happens!
And I forgot to mention it yesterday, since I was so upset about David's Bridal, but Jason and I are meeting with a photographer on Tuesday! :woohoo: It's a husband/wife team and they have lovely photos, but they're also inexpensive! So yay! Wish me luck with them!
Thanks again for everything, lovelies!

Firstly, I cannot believe the terrible service you've had! Shocking stuff! Me and a friend of mine have both had similar sorts of problems before because we're young brides too (Both of us are 21)... Mine have only been minor little things that have been more misunderstandings than anything else. My friend, however, actually got thrown out of a bridal shop as the owner refused to believe she was engaged as she was so young! She ignored the ring on her finger, the wedding magazines with bookmarks and post its stuck in, etc, just because she was young! You completely have my sympathy on this one.... You deserve much better service than that!
Good luck with the photographers!!

I must yet again tip my hat to you ladies, for all the wonderful advice and heads up! I am regretful that any of you (and/or your friends) were treated so poorly though. I can't believe the way some of those bridal shops are!!
With all that said...
I did go to my appointment this past Saturday, and to my surprise, received the exact opposite of the treatment I was given prior that Thursday! Go figure, huh? The lady who helped us was very helpful! Unfortunately, only two of my BMs were able to make it... but at least my MOH was one of the two present!
So, it's decided! Those are the BM dresses they will be wearing! They didn't have our colors in that dress, but they did have a dress made of the same material in those colors. So I had a chance to see the colors in person! My BMs were very pleased with my choice, because they kept telling me it was something that was rewearable. :thumbsup2 They both looked awesome in it! I picked out their shoes while we were there too. They'll be dyed to match their dress. Here's a picture of them:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v476/anjiechan/wedding/d1872982.jpg
I am a bit concerned, because the colors of their dresses don't match the colors of the groomsmen's vests perfectly. :worried: The teal might be easier to pull off, but the purples don't match. The girls' dresses are a lighter tone, while the groomsmen vests are a darker purple. Anybody else have this problem with matching colors? Do you think it's really that big of a deal?? I'm sometimes known to be a bit of a perfectionist, so it may just bug me and ONLY me... but I dunno.. :confused3 Lol.
In other news, we had our appointment with that potential photographer today! They couldn't be any nicer of people! I just love them! They're so excited that we're having a Disney wedding, and their example albums are perfect for what we want! They also told me, they'll be there when we want/need them to be there there, at no extra charge. So if I start getting ready at 7am the day of the wedding, they'll be there to photograph it! :teeth: Once we receive the contract from them... WE'LL HAVE OUR PHOTOGRAPHER! :hyper:
It can't be of much help since nearly all of you wonderful girls are either destination or local brides at WDW, or simply destination/local brides elsewhere, but here's a link to our will be photographer's website -- http://www.briandavidphotography.com/.
Next on our list is videographer (we have one good lead at the moment), and then an officiant and we're pretty much golden! :woohoo:

Yea, more things to check off your list as well!!! :cool1:
I'm glad you had good luck at David's bridal. The shoes are cute, I would never be able to wear them, I'd me on the floor, but they are cute.
I totally know what you mean about matching colors. Try matching pool blue where some call it caribbean blue, some turquoise, some aqua, it has truly been a pain. If I had only just done dark red like I wanted to. . . Although my FMIL is more concerned about the colors matching exactly than I seem to be. Honestly, we have reworked a few things just to prevent the clashing. Like the flower girl sash is not an exact match to the MOH dress, but that's an easy fix. The guys to the MOH are going to be a challenge, but I'll cross that bridge when we get to it.
If you really have a issue with it now, change it, because those pictures will be there forever. You could always do the guys in teal and the ladies in purple, or the different shades may look nice. It's what you can handle :)
Oh, the photographer looks great! I'm glad you found a replacement. :woohoo:

Thank ya Laurie! :goodvibes My BMs are all heel-wearing girls, otherwise I'd be more concerned about them wearing those shoes. Lol. Unlike us, they can handle it! :rotfl:
Ooh yeah, you definitely know what I'm talking about with the colors then! It's a nightmare! I mean, honestly. I never knew there were so many shades of purple/teal!! :headache: My MOH's dress is "juniper", and the BM's vest/tie is "oasis". Now, the other BMs are in "plum", and the groomsmen are "lapis". I think it could work. I guess it doesn't have to match perfectly. It's just... argh! I dunno. I'm dead set on the dark teal/purple combination but there's no way possible I could make every single thing match, so I think I just need to deal with it. Haha.

Glad to hear your Davids Bridal experience went better this go round. I had great service the 1st time I went, but the 2nd the woman and I just didn;t click, she kept bringing me dresses that I did not like at all, and even after I kept explaining what I wanted, she just didn't seem to listen... oh well. Okay, so I've realized that I don't have many pictures or inspiration for my hair! Which is only a wee bit important, I'd say! :rotfl:
So last night, I devoted a good amount of time to checking out potential bridal hairstyles for yours truly! I've known I wanted something vintage/retro. So here's a few I really like, and would love opinions! The only problem is, I find myself really wishing I had a birdcage veil when I see them. Lol. :cutie:

I do too! I actually think I like the first couple of pictures of her hair the most. I'd estimate my hair is probably 5 inches past my shoulders right now. I'm going to be growing it out over the next year even more too. It holds a curl well, so long as it's not humid or moist out. Lol.

First off, I must apologize for my absence from the boards! My birthday took up part of the time I was gone (Jason took me to DL and we stayed at the DL hotel :cloud9:), and the rest has kept me busy with my studying. BUT! I've missed you ladies! So, even though I don't have much to report at the moment... I've returned! :rotfl:
Truthfully, the biggest news we've had is receiving a couple of things we ordered for the wedding online. DF got his Darth Vader cuff links finally! And, I ordered our sand unity vase set... it's all engraved with our monogram! :lovestruc So cute! I might take pictures of these things if anyone would care to see 'em, that is!
A while back, we went down to David's Bridal and ordered the FG baskets. I had tried numerous times to order them through the website, but I kept getting errors. Apparently, the colors I wanted are being discontinued, so we just barely got them! Unfortunately, the matching RBer pillow is all gone. That's okay though. Since my FGs are going to be wearing white dresses, I wanted to make sure they had some color! They won't arrive until some time in July, but at least we managed to get 'em! :thumbsup2
Let's see... well, we're working on our last three big decisions for the wedding. All we really have left is to get our officiant, videographer, and hash out honeymoon plans! We're making some headway on the first two. Sadly, we can't make any plans for the honeymoon since we're going with the WDW Disneymooning idea now. I don't understand why they don't release prices until the very end of the year. Ugh. :sad2: But one thing we've come to realize, is that we are going to be staying at a moderate Disney resort. We just don't have the fundage to stay at the deluxe hotels. But, I refuse to stay at the value ones... no offense to them, I'm sure they're just fine but it's our honeymoon for pete's sake! Lol!
You'll probably see me asking you all a ton of WDW related questions now that we know that's what we want, so please bear with me! Speaking of which... hehe -- would you guys say that the Disney dining plan is more affordable than not having one? We're trying to figure out where and if we can cut corners anywhere so we DO have enough in our honeymoon budget to stay at the moderate hotels.
Thanks for any tips in advance!!

OH! I almost forgot one other thing! We're planning to FINALLY take some e-pics!! My FSIL and her husband have this amazing camera, and we're going to ask them to snap some shots of us. It may not be as professional-looking, but we're saving $350 this way. Lol.
Jason and I have been discussing ideas of what 'poses' we'll be in since we're having the e-pic we choose framed and on an easel instead of a guestbook at the wedding.
We don't want the typical sitting on a rock at the beach all cuddly type of pictures... no offense to anyone who has some like that! They're gorgeous, but not befitting of us. We're geeks, and we are geeks in love! So... we're thinking about doing geeky things we enjoy together in these pictures. Such as: me with my guitar controller and him on the drums playing Rock Band, but I lean down to kiss him while doing so. Hehe. Another example being that we have the Force FX light sabers, so maybe a light saber battle. But y'know. Romantic-ish. Etc. and so forth. You get the gist though! Hope you guys aren't giggling too hard at our nerddom!
Now, I'm off to do my Wii Fit and I'll be back to catch up on all your girls' PJ updates soon!

I'm glad you were about to get your baskets, check ebay for the pillow, I'm sure someone has one.
Okay honeymoon, I do have to say thank you to the boards, because I would have never know this overwise, but rent DVC points! I'm not sure how much your budget is or how long you are staying, but I figured out everything to the T, what the actual cost, what kind of discounts could we possibly get. We are staying at the BWV for $800 for 6 nights a studio BW view, now we wanted a standard view because it's cheaper and could have gotten it for $600 if available. BWV and AK are the cheapest of the DVCs, we just picked BWV based on location. Even if you get a 4 for 3 deal for May, it is hard to beat that at a Mod. It's a bit scary trusting a stranger, but we have a contract and she was awesome.
I'll give you more details if you would like, but I'm going to step off my soap box for now.
Oh, I don't know if you are doing any DIY stuff, but I was downloading fonts for my invites and I found one that made me think of you. It's kind of Nightmare before Christmas/corpse bride meets elegance, I'll have to give you the name when I get home.

You are so freaking helpful, my dear Laurie! What would I do without you?! I would love for you to tell me more about it! I just figured we would be paying through the nose for any DVC related anything! Our budget for the honeymoon is being provided by his father, and it's roughly $2000. We're not worried about getting spending money for when we're there. That money would be for booking our stay, tickets to the parks, and our flights. We're counting on the money dance and such to give us spending money. :rolleyes1
Sooo, I dunno if it's still doable with our budget. Granted we are okay with spending a bit out of our own pocket if need be to make the arrangements, but if we can avoid it, we will. Lol.
And yay! I've not ruled out the idea of anything DIY, so I'd love to get the name of that font too!

Okay, the renting DVC, I did check out pointage for you, I like this website for calculating points, but there are more. http://tagrel.com/dvcCompChart.shtml I did not realize that you were not going during value season, so the points to stay will be a bit higher. Plus I don't know how long you are going. You can check out the DVC Rent board on DIS. Pretty much if the resort you want is the DVC's home resort they can book 11 months in advance, if it's not they can book 7 months in advance. The average cost per point is about $10, but you may get lucky and get it for less, I got mine for about 9.40/point.
You definitely have a bit of time, but you can check out the points and see which resort fits in your budget, BWV, AKL, and OKW are the cheapest point wise. BWV standard view rooms make up about 20% of the hotel, so they go quick and if you are on a budget you may not want to fork another couple hundred over for a preferred view.
This website has some good info on renting http://www.mousesavers.com/dvc.html , just scroll done a little bit and there is some info about renting.
That's all I can think of right now, let me know if you have any questions. Oh, you can still do a honeymoon registry when renting, you just need the confirmation number.

You are seriously my wedding-angel, Laurie!!!:hug::hug:
We had no idea how we were going to be able to afford our honeymoon. Granted, as I mentioned, my DF's dad is giving us the money... we just didn't think it would be possible to get what we wanted while staying within our means. But now! It's within our reach! So, after first hearing from you about it, I researched as much as I could. Learned everything I could on it and began the search for possibilities.
I made a post here on the boards, over on the Rent/transfer points and I got several PMs. The first person that contacted me was extremely helpful, and told me tons of info I should know as a first time point-renter. We actually got in touch with him, and his wife called and made our reservations this morning! Got my contract emailed to me today, and we're going to sign it and send the deposit asap to them!! I'm so insanely excited!
We too, are staying at BWV in a studio, 5/9 through 5/14 next year. Omg!! I can't believe we're going to get our dream WDW honeymoon afterall! :cloud9: You are the absolute best! Now all we need to do is book our flights, have our DVC member call and set up DME for us and then buy our tickets. :hyper: What a dream come true!
Oh, and btw, I love the fonts! Thank you! :cutie:

Alrighty, it took me a few days (I procrastinate sometimes :rolleyes1 ) but alas! I have come bearing photos! Pictures from my DL/DLH birthday trip with a sort of mini TR. Sort of! And a couple of pics of things I received in the mail that I had ordered online for the wedding!
My birthday was May 28th, and Jason wanted to take me to Disneyland so I could take advantage of their free birthday going-ons. Seeing as I'm an annual passholder, instead of getting free admission, you get the choice to take an unlimited fastpass for the day OR a "funcard" of equal value to a one park admission! Hmm... I suppose you can guess which one I went with! :lmao:
He decided since we won't be able to celebrate my birthday much next year due to it being only a couple weeks after our wedding and honeymoon, he wanted to do it up nice this year for me. That and I'll be turning 25  next year, so I was happier to make a big deal out of turning the big 2-4 instead. Lol. Sooo, he got us a pool view room at the Disneyland Hotel the night of my birthday.
The room:

Our Haunted Mansion hidden in the bedspread! :goodvibes

View from our mini balcony (which, if you look in the upper lefthand corner that's the backside of where our ceremony site is for the wedding!):
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v476/anjiechan/birfdayish006.jpg
Another picture of the view (and the red building is where our reception is the building where our reception is being held):

Me insisting we get a picture of us together!:

DF insisting he gets a picture of me loving the room!:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v476/anjiechan/birfdayish010.jpg
The room was gorgeous, and keep in mind I hadn't stayed there prior to this since I was maybe 8 years old. So that made it a big deal to me. :teeth:
He also took me to dinner at Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen in Downtown Disney! The food was delicious, and I hope we'll visit it again soon! Sadly, I took no food porn pictures. :guilty: But I promise it was delish!
I can at least give you the descriptions of what we ate though!
Roman Garlic Bread - Fresh ciabatta bread, basil and fresh mozzarella cheese, baked and served with a spicy purée of roasted garlic and olive oil.
Jason had the Pasta Jambalaya - Gulf shrimp, andouille sausage and roasted chicken tossed with spinach fettuccine and Creole seasonings.
And I had the Panéed Chicken Bercy - Pan-fried parmesan and herb-breaded chicken breast topped with artichoke hearts, portobello mushrooms and sun-dried tomatoes. With andouille grits and a roasted shallot and white wine sauce.
For dessert we shared the Crème Brulée Sampler - A sweet sampling of our Grand Marnier, café au lait, and vanilla ginger crème brulée.
It turned out to be a fantastic birthday, thanks to Jason and Disney! :cutie: Oh! And I bought a super cute new purse with Jack Skellington hidden in the design of it and a Jack tanktop with my free "funcard". It also helped pay for a portion of this cute Disneyland jacket I'd been wanting. Yay for free anything from Disney!
Last but not least! Here's the photos of our unity sand ceremony vases engraved with our monogram and wedding date:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v476/anjiechan/wedding/birfdayish020.jpg
I'm reeeally pleased with it! I just got the sand for the ceremony I ordered too, but the pictures make the colors look all muted.

It would appear as though we've finally reached a wedding dilemma... :scared:
Our WC was supposed to send us a copy of our official Disney budget a few weeks ago. It's been very busy for them at the DFTW offices here in California, since they did some employment cutbacks, so we didn't get it from her until today. Our wedding budget as allotted by my parents is $20,000. My FMIL is paying for our floral, and my FFIL is paying for the honeymoon. Two of my FSILs are paying for our candy buffet favors.
We're very very blessed to have such generous and thoughtful family members - however, getting back to the dilemma - the total Disney budget came back at $17,000. Sigh. We had asked our WC if we could toast with Disney mint juleps instead of champagne, and of course they can do it but it's a specialty drink. So that in itself is 4 dollars extra per person.
I've not been especially picky on most everything else. It's all pretty standard fare. The only little extra we had wanted was material with lighting in it draped from the ceiling of our reception area. They want to charge us $2,000 for it! So, as beautiful as it is, we're going to have to nix that.
See, we've already got money taken from our budget too. Roughly $2,000 for my gown. $2,000 for the wedding and reception site. Photographer will be $1395, and videographer at a grand total of $1895. Looking at all that.. we've only got around $13,000 to work with to stay within budget. I just don't know how it would be possible.
We may just have to start saving up money to pay the extra costs OR we're going to have to cut down our guest list. We already know that out of the 100 we're inviting, only about 80-90 will truly be able to attend. But, we can't count on that. :guilty:
Argh. Well, I apologize for ranting but I had to get it off my chest! Thanks for reading, any of you who will, that is. Any prayers/happy thoughts would be fantastic. I could use some right about now! Everything was going far too smoothly, I suppose. :lmao:
The only positive things we really got, were our floorplan for the reception and a picture of the shape of our wedding cake. Jason still needs to sketch up a mock drawing of what we want exactly.

I just wanted to say I just read your PJ and I love everything so far. The dresses, the hairstyles, the colors, it all looks great!
I'm sorry to hear you are having budget issues. I think the majority of brides have this issue. I know I do! My wedding is on a very tight budget and it's hard to cut back here and cut back there. Have you sat down and wrote a list of what is a must and tried to figure out where else you can cut back? Have you already paid for your dress? (I can't recall if you have) If not, I got mine for more than half the price off of Craig's list. There are other ways to budget also. But, I will keep you in my thoughts. I know that no matter what happens, your big day is going to be gorgeous! And even if you have to have major cutbacks, just remember, it's not so much about all the materialistic stuff, it's about saying "I Do" to the love of your life and starting the rest of your lives together!
Anyway, sorry that got so long... I'm hooked on your PJ and can't wait to read more!

Oh dear! . . .I think the budget crisis is unavoidable, I'm reworking mine right now. And always remember, there is always something you forget, I just got off the phone with our wedding planner and we just had another 500 added on and I know there are at least 600 more, so have a buffer
So back to the issue at hand, first step would be guest list, if you can cut anyone, it sucks, but is possible. Also make a list of what is important to you and your DFi and see if anything can go. Everything little thing adds up. And as a back up plan. . .start saving some dough so you don't end up putting stuff on a credit card.
It will all work out and your wedding will be beautiful!

so i came across this thread and im in love with your wedding!
i usually never see floral arrangements that i really like, and yours is so pretty!
also i love your dress, centerpieces, and pretty much everything lol
the shoes you would have picked would have been great, but i know what its like to not be able to walk in shoes, so yay for flats! haha
i would love to get married at disneyland [im only 17 though so i might have to wait lol], so when i went there for my birthday i went to the rose garden and snuck into sleeping beautys pavilion (hey the door was open, so i took it as a sign and went in lol) and i love it, im excited that you're posting all these pictures and all because not many people have disneyland weddings on this site
ah this makes me want to go back to disneyland. anyways good luck with all the planning! cant wait to read more

 Sorry for the budget woes! I know I'll be feeling that once it's closer to our date, as we need to stick as close to the disney budget as possible and my parents have alotted only a few $k more than the disney budget and that needs to include my dress and hopefully our flights!
I love the layout of the room and your seating plans!! Eeee, I can't wait to do stuff that real!
And $2k?!?!? Give me $100 and I'll hing some fairy lights and material for you! :lmao:

Eh, I know how you're feeling, my budget is $20 000 too, and I have no idea how some brides do it for less then that!
My budget is supposed to include the wedding stuff, plus the honeymoon stuff, plus us getting to WDW and our accomm. Really if I think about it, it's going to have to also include our food and spending money too :scared: yeesh, here's hoping that some lovely family members will step in and offer to help pay for some things...
I don't think they will though, because I seem to remember saying something along the lines of "we don't want you to pay for our wedding, we just want you to be there" :sad2::lmao:

Awe hun the whole budget thing is a real pain in the butt! And it gives such headaches doesn't it?:headache: The only advice I can give you is make a list of everything that is important to you and your man to have for your wedding.... photo, floral, food, music, and all the little extras. Once you have that list go through and re-arrange it so that the most important things to you guys are to the top and the least important are on the bottom. Whatever is on the bottom either nix or try to find a more economical alternative. This is all easier said than done... BELIEVE ME!!! But when it comes to budgeting it helped alittle bit for us.

Hey Hun!
Big :hug:s for the budget issues..... They are absolutely horrible, aren't they?? The only advice I can give is for you and your DF to make a 'top 3' list... Pick the 3 things in the wedding that are the most important to you (Floral, Entertainment, Photography, whatever) and work around your budget from there. Priorisation is the key with budgets.... We picked our most important things and worked on the budget from there... If you work at it from scratch, you'd be amazed what you can cut.... I hope it all works out for you!!
Love you!

Trying to get myself focused on the happier aspects of planning, I decided to find a way to reobtain Adobe Photoshop CS4. I used to have it on my computer, but a nasty virus ate it a while back and um... my Photoshop copy wasn't a law-abiding copy so to speak... so I lost it.
Why am I talking about this? Oh, you shall see! So today, I went to Adobe's website and downloaded the 30 day trial. That's all I needed! I got to work on making a monogram/logo for the wedding! I designed it mostly for one of the tiers our of wedding cake, but we shall see if I can include it elsewhere.
I'd love to know what you guys think of it! It's been a good long while since I created something from scratch with Photoshop, so please be kind. ;)

Hey ther girl, hang in there with the budget woes, I know you'll make it work :) Let us know how we can help, offering DIY ideas to cut costs etc etc. I actually bought 100 invitations to go the DIY route last night at Target for $60 with response cards and envelopes, so that is saving me some $$ (about $340 before postage!) So little things will add up to make a huge savings.

Few updates to share with you all!
The one thing I've been consistently unsure about with the wedding planning has been my hair. I don't know WHY exactly it's been such a painful thing for me, but it's been my hardest thing to pick out as of yet! :confused3
So yesterday, I started googling bridal hair. Finding nothing that seemed very me, or what I wanted - I decided to search pinups again. This time, I tried modern day pinups. Silly as it may seem, I found a style I fell in love with!
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v476/anjiechan/wedding/FrankiiWilde_4.jpg
I think it's just perfect!! I just wish I could find a bigger picture of it. I'm also thinking about going with a flower clip instead of a hair comb now! ::yes:: I think it would be appropriate for the vintage do.
I think I'd want a hybrid of the first style and this one:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v476/anjiechan/wedding/20090410-040934-69.jpg

Ahh, full bellied and ready to fill everyone in some more! :cutie:
Here's one more hair pic I forgot to post, just because it's my girl-crush  AND her hair just so happens to be sickeningly adorable!
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v476/anjiechan/wedding/Katy_Perry52.jpg
Alright. So, I'd been meaning to drop by our florist and pay her a visit for quite some time. Today I called and asked if I could drop by to make some changes to my bouquet, and give her a map of the venue. The biggest change I made was changing the purple dendrobium bombay orchids in my bouquet to the teal dyed ones. I also took out lavender roses as I didn't really want a light purple in there.
This isn't exactly what mine will look like, as there will be more dark purple in mine and it'll be a cascade bouquet, but it's not too far off:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v476/anjiechan/wedding/2008_10_25_151.jpg
I'm having white roses, white star lillies, purple lisianthus, white dendrobium orchids, the teal dyed purple orchids with diamonds in my roses. Here's to hoping it'll turn out nicely!
The first time we met with her she made us a quick sample that used the purple bombay orchid and it was beautiful. The only problem I had with it was that it seemed too pink. Not that I dislike pink, but our colors are dark purple and teal. So now that I changed MY bombay orchids to be the teal dyed, she thinks the BM bouquets should have the teal dyed also. The problem is, the sample she made that time was using the flowers she was going to use in the BM's. So if you look, it already has not only the purple but the teal also!
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v476/anjiechan/wedding/3dd0dee5.jpg
(The sample I'm talking about)
I'm worried that it's going to be too much and I should just keep theirs the regular purple bombay orchids? What do you guys think?
The LAST thing I'd want would be color overkill. :worried:
Chilly

Just read through your whole PJ.
Love your ring, very unique. purple is my fav colour and I think the teal goes great with it. Your wedding dress is lovely as is the necklace you just got. I think your bouquet looks really cute. I hope you are able to sort your budget out. Unless you are really big eaters i'd say not having the dining plan is cheaper.
Looking forward to hearing more.

Hmmm.. for the flowers I think if yours has a lot of the white it shouldn't be color overload with the bridesmaids bouquets. But, really it comes down to what you think will be best. You could always ask your floral person too, they are usually great with suggestions.
Love all the hair ideas, I think the first one and the one you just posted are my favorites.

As always I love the hair pics you posted:love: I also really like your flowers... I don't think you'll be color overloaded with the teal dyed orchids (of course I'm kinda a color nut so you may not want to take my word for it:lmao:)- but honestly I think that you'll have enough white in there to balance it out:goodvibes I do agree with you that the regular orchid as posted in the sample is not the right shade for the bouquet- definately too pinkish.

The necklace is very beautiful; it looks great on!
It's my pleasure to share! It's not as nice as all of the creative girls on here have made (or have had made) but I'm okay with it. I'm not too crafty  so I appreciate Disney doing it for me. And thank you!

I ordered some handmade bridal earrings yesterday! Mine will look a tiny bit different. The pearls on mine will be white and the earrings will be on posts instead of french hooks.
http://www.bonitaj.com/mm5/graphics/00000001/erinear.jpg
I wanted some simple that matched my necklace really well. :cloud9: So again, I shall model them once I get them in the mail!
So, it's time for me to call upon you beautiful ladies with amazing taste again! I'm having another bridal dilemma. :scared: I'm not sure if I've mentioned it before, but here goes!
I am so entirely torn on what to do for my veil! As it stands now, when my gown is ready, there will also be some extra sparkle-tulle along with it. The bridal shop intended to make me a veil using this material. I loved the idea originally but ever since have been second guessing. As it may have been noticed, I have a great attraction to vintage glam. I am deeply in love with birdcage veils, which is what I keep wondering if I should go with instead.
I'm concerned that maybe it would look odd with my style of dress though? OR that maybe it will become one of those type of wedding trends that 20 years from now I'll wonder why I did it. Sort of like the poor brides of the '80s that had the poofy hair and poofy sleeves. :sad2: Sorry, I'm rambling now! Lol!
My question is - what do you guys think? Do you think it would look good? Would it withstand time in photos? Should I really even care if it wound up seeming like a fad if I loved it anyway? :rotfl2: All input is welcomed and appreciated!

I think a birdcage veil would go great with all your Katy Perry hair etc. I don't think it needs to 'go' with your dress. Your dress is rather unique and who's to say that a traditional veil 'goes' any better with it than a birdcage? You should do what you feel is right and I think for you that is a birdcage. Will it one day seam dated? Maybe. But someday a white dress may seam dated, or weddings in general. I vote birdcage, because I think you would totally rock it. :thumbsup2
and no I am not biase because I have a birdcage :rolleyes1

:rotfl2: You are playing to me as a very wise voice of reason right now Becky! Your bias has nothing to do with it! Lol! But truly, I'm tending to believe you may be right! I keep thinking about how if my hair is going to be in a pinup do how it might be bizarre to have a traditional elbow length veil AND a hair flower? It just seems off to me.
Either way, I am surely grateful for your opinion!

I'm glad I could help! I'll let you know if I find any good prices for tickets.
Okay, this veil business. I had to go back and look at your dress and do I think the veil looks beautiful with the dress. . .yes. However, I don't think it is what you want, nor the style you are going for. I'm not a huge fan of the birdcage veil, but I think it will go with the style you are going for, I would have to see it to give an honest opinion :goodvibes
I say go for what you want, not what people "claim" is how it it suppose to be. If you are worried about the look 20 years from now, you can always do a veil for the ceremony and the birdcage for the reception. Because you also don't want to look at the pictures 20 years from know and wish you had. . .

What was the look of veils for the period of pin up hair styles? Maybe go with that?
I also like the idea of long veil for the wedding...bird cage for the reception...

I say go with the birdcage if that's what you really want...what matters is that you like it now!!!
But then again I'm not a fan of regular veils at all...but I do love the birdcages and fascinators.
But what really matters is that you like what you pick...if you like the idea/look of the birdcage, then definitely go for it.

I love the look of birdcage veils, and think they look gorgeous in photos. However, personally I'm going to have a veil, and it comes back to the same reason as to why my wedding dress will be poofy - when else can I wear one??
In Oz, we wear fascinators and birdcages with cocktail dresses when we go to a day at the races, so they're not all that special.
Is there an extra charge to get the veil made? Or is it included in the price of your dress? If it's included get it, and you could try both at your hair trial.

Here's the thing.. there's birdcage veils and there's birdcage veils. Lol. Some are really atrocious! I might have to find some good examples of ones I think are nice. Your idea about switching veils is a good one! I might have to keep that in mind. That way I'd have both. Hmm... too many choices!

That is very very true! I think the birdcage veils are very cute and a bit quirky. But they also have a classic feel to me that I love. Darn having to choose! I think what I'm doing is convincing myself to go with one with the help of all you lovelies! Hehe.

Ahh, well I understand your thinking as to why you want a traditional veil then! Makes good sense. :)
There is an extra charge to have that veil made. Sigh. :guilty: The extra material wasn't very much, but to have it custom made for me may be another $60-$100. I'd rather take the material and use it somewhere else somehow than waste it if I go with the birdcage veil instead. It wouldn't be a bad idea to have both styles of veils (even if it's not the exact one I'd use) for my hair trial though!

As for the veils, you know how much I love the birdcages, and esp with the Katy Perry pin-up I just think it would look immense (remember the "Hot & Cold" video??). Now I know your dress is kinda princessy, but I still think a birdcage would work, although in the same breath I think a long veil with a flower would still work. I'm biased because I'm a lover of the birdcage, so I'm being careful with how much I mention it!:lmao:

Giiiiirl I went through the SAME thing!! As you've seen in my PJ (thanks for the post by the way) I ended up with the traditional veil with some crystals scattered through it. Here are my reasons why.... My dress is too contemporary for it, Its not the style dress that i think would look good with a birdcage veil. I also was worried, like you, that it would become a fad that i'd regret later on. The veil is something that is classic and will never go out of style. (oh those poor 80s brides... my mother had the poofy sleevs AND one of those stupid hat veils!!! :scared:) AND i tried a bridcage veil on and to be honest it bothered me, i didn't like it being so close to my face... i know i'm a wierdo
it was a very hard decision for me and no matter what don't go by what I say because its your wedding and you have to do whats best for you. My suggestion is to try some on, see what you like and try to invision it with your gown. I know that putting on the one i bought made me feel MORE like a bride than my dress! :cloud9:

You're right. I think the reason I'm so confused is because I'm so unsure of what I actually do want! :scared: I just have to try and test it out. See what looks best I suppose. And you're right! Sounds like a good reason to have a VR someday... :lmao:

Oh, it's fine to be biased! ;) If I'm honest with myself, I really think either one could be beautiful. I think the thing is, I can't picture how a long veil would work with the pinuppy hair. I don't want a veil sitting flat on top of my head. Sadly, because my hair will be mostly down.. I'm uncertain how it'd work? :confused3
Only time will tell! Even though it's slowly getting closer to the wedding, I do still have a lot of time thankfully!
I think you need to try it on. I am so with you on the vintage glam and I wanted a birdcage veil as well. BUT then I tried a cathedral length on with my dress and fell in love. It gave it a totally different vibe...still glam and elegant...just in a different way!

Hehe, I agree!! I think that's the only way I will be absolutely for sure! You are right about yours still being glam and classy elegant too. :thumbsup2 So I just need to try them both on with my dress and pick which I feel is right!
Had you thought about both?

I actually hadn't, but wow!! That's beautiful! I may have to consider doing that, if I find myself too torn to choose! :rolleyes1 Again, my one concern is that since my hair will most likely be mostly down, would it still work? What do you think?
Thanks for showing me that!

Hmm.. I haven't ever tried one on, so who knows? It might bother me too! I need to track one down and give it a test run! I'm probably totally overthinking everything (as per usual for myself ). I know it really should be as easy as trying both on to see what I like better. I get the better I'll be just as confused about it. I'm worrying myself by thinking either way I might regret my choice! Bah! Too much a perfectionist I be! Lol.
I will definitely keep you posted! Oh, and you're most welcome! You picked a wonderful veil out so I appreciate the input!

First off I think your necklace is absolutely gorgeous!!!! And the earrings will be perfect with it! As for the veils I think you definately need to go with a bird cage, given the hair style you want I think it just goes better. I do like how Caryn had both but with your hair down I don't know how that would work. I think if you did 1/2 up 1/2 down you could do both pretty easily and it would look stunning!

Why thank you, and thanks for reading! :goodvibes As far as I know, I'm the only DL bride on the boards at the moment. It's a little lonely sometimes, but having other DFTW brides to help out as much as they can still helps tremendously! That, and I'm hoping maybe my PJ will help out another DL bride someday. :flower3:

So, I got a call about an hour ago from the bridal shop... and to my surprise... MY GOWN IS ALREADY IN!!!!! :jumping1:
I was told it would take approximately nine months to make and it's only been five! :woohoo: I'm going down to pick it up this evening! I'm a bit nervous about getting it though. When my dress was being ordered, the bridal shop girl suggested I get a size 2 so as the corsetted part in the back would be more V shaped. Me in a size 2 anything is frightening! I wear a size 5 in jeans and most everything else. The dress I tried on in the store was a size 4. Please please cross your fingers for me that it fits perfectly! She assured me it would fit me just fine but I'm still nervous! That's an awfully small size. :scared:
I promise I shall return with pictures for you all to see! Glad I bought my necklace and shoes already!! And hey, maybe I'll be able to figure out my veil dilemma much sooner than I thought! I can't wait!

Thank God the size 2 fits like a glove! A very snug glove but perfectly nonetheless! So thank you for any and all fingers that were crossed! :lmao: While I was at the shop, I managed to spot a birdcage veil. I asked the girl to humor me and I tried it on. I went to look in the mirror and after having tried on my gown again, I realized it wouldn't be quite right with in. :confused3 But, as much as I love the way they look... I didn't like it close to my face and obstructing my vision! So, Katie, you are not weird darling! I didn't like it either.

Ack! Almost forgot! Becky, since you asked, the tulle is going to be in at the shop in a few days. So yes, they're still going to custom make one for me using it. :teeth: And thank you for still rocking your sweet veil for me! Lol!
