We will be staying at BWV courtesy of my sister who has a DVC ownership for 1 day and then hitting MK the next. I'd like to take a DVC tour to get some fast passes. How do I arrange that? Also, if my son and MIL stay at the pool while DW and I tour will we get passes for them as well or do they have to tag along? Lastly, do we have to go to SSR for the tour and how long do they generally take?

Can't really help out, but would just think that you need to consider how much time you'd really be saving if you had to make a trip to SSR or somewhere else to get the FPs.

The tours are offered at SSR. I'd plan on 90 minutes, but they can tailor it to meet your time constraints if necessary. You can make a reservation for the tour at any DVC kiosk in the resorts or parks and they will pick you up at your WDW resort and return you after the tour.
I'm not sure how many fastpasses they would supply or if that is always done after every tour. They sometimes offer gift cards or other items instead, so I wouldn't take the tour necessarily expecting anything except some information and free ice cream at the end. :)
They also provide free childcare during the tour at the sales center.

Just an FYI, they don't always give you FP's. We toured and purchased last year and didn't get any FP's.

Unless you are interested in purchasing DVC, the time you spend taking the tour will probably be longer than waiting in line without the fastpass. Assuming they will offer you one, there is no guarantee. JMHO.

Note, the "FPs" DVC gives you are only good for 3 days after activation & must be run through the FP machines. If the machines are closed down for the day you can't redeem them for those rides ... Think Toy Story & Soarin'
