Just got a green light from work to reschedule our vacation to the first week of Dec. Will be taking in-laws, total 4 adults. Will be booking 2 studios. My mother in-law is a fanatic about christmas, I'm just happy to be getting back home. With the shorter park hours trying to figure out what to do in the evenings. Any suggestions on which resort would be the best to try for?

From what others have posted it appears the only DVC resort that has available rooms for the first week of Dec is OKW. OKW is close to DTD this would give you something to do at night. Maybe you could try to get on a waitlist for 2 studios at VWL, WL is beautiful at Christmas, a Christmas fanatic would be in their glory at WL. The very best resort for Christmas decorations is GF which is also close to WL, just take a boat to MK and then the resort monorail to GF.

Good Luck - with all that is going on that week - the dis con, and some other internet conventions, plus the DVC annual meet - this will be a very full week - and of course the Christmas decorations at all the parks and resorts - I would think you would have a beter chance the second week in December. the conventions (at the least the one I know about) will be gone, and the annual meet will be over - but the Christmas decorations and parties will still be going.

Stayed in a Studio at VWL over the Thanksgiving Holiday 2001. We loved the holiday atmosphere and the decorations. We visited a few resorts and WL was Tops. It might be a little hard to get VWL as we are only 6 mos out. But it doesn't hurt to book at one of the other resorts that are available and get on the waiting list for VWL. Good Luck and enjoy the holidays surrounded by the magic.:)

I'm waitlisted at both VWL and BWV. Should you try and reserve at the Epcot/Studios area, you should keep in mind that the lights/decorations at the Studios are phenomenol.

we have been the first 2 weeks in dec. and it is great dont worry about the parks closing a little early because you can do so much more with less people there epcot usually closes at 10 every night after the fireworks the decorations are wonderful we like that time of year so much we are going back the 2nd week of dec to use our dvc membership for the 1st time hope yall have lots of yuletide fun!!!!!!!

IMO WL is hands down the best, even over GF, but I perfer the woodsy atmosphere of WL. But like another poster stated, good luck on the waitlist. We own & have stayed at OKW in Dec, little disappointed in their decoration effort but I think it's neat when guest decorate the balconies at OKW. Goodluck.

Try all the DVC resorts for a reservation. BWV & WVL have beautiful decorations. OKW decorations are rather sparse but some folks bring along lights and stuff to spruce up their rooms. OKW is a boat ride away from the Marketplace that has real nice lighting. All of the parks are wonderful with the Osborn light show at MGM being the best of the best. Take the monorail (or a bus) and see the decorations at some of the resorts. We loved WL, GF and others. Also be sure to see the disly tree lighting ceremony at whatever resort you are visiting.

I stayed at VWL last year but I went to all the other DVC resorts to look at Christmas decorations. OKW had some new ones and looked great at the Hospitality House. I must agree though that WL wins hands down for atmosphere!! This year there is one less week between Thanksgiving and Christmas which makes it harder to get in during the first 2 weeks of Dec. I would suggest calling MS and see where there is an opening for 2 studios and if you want then wait list another DVC resort. That's the joy of having so many options!!
