I know some of you already have your flights booked. How's everyone else doing? I've just checked again and I'm still at $230-$235 round trip with one stop (Pittsburgh or Charlotte) from Allentown, PA to Orlando. I don't mind one stop as long as it doesn't make my total travel time something outrageous. I'm still watching and waiting. I'm hoping to get fares for just under $200, if I can. There's still time. I have a fare watcher working for me, too. :)

I have fare-watcher, too, Barb. I'm waiting for a fare of less than $130.00 rountrip.

I hope that you have a wonderful DIS-meet.

Ray :)

I'm doing reward travel this time, so it isn't costing me anything, but at last check from Denver to Orlando with 1 stop it's around $200.00, which is about $250 less than I paid last year.

Haven't checked in a while but the last time it was $400 a piece and we would still have to get to Portland which would bump it up to around $600. (ahh the joys of living in small town america) We took a day trip to Portland and wracked up just enough to get a frequent flier ticket each.

Now if the VA would decide my case (I hate waiting and it's been a year and a half already UGH!) and I know whether I have to go back to work even for short bursts at a time or I can go to DISCON 2002, we are all set to start making that all important reservation.

I gave up on the idea of flying to DIScon 2002. I'm driving too. That way I can extend my stay if necessary. :)

Who needs airfare when you're 4 hours from Orlando? :)

Seriously, how about a carpool? Dayna can pick us all up! :)

I'm using frequent-flyer miles for my ticket. The reservation was made months ago, but I haven't been ticketed yet.

Speaking of driving down, does anyone want to meet me at the Cripple Crab restaurant in Hardeeville (South Carolina) for dinner on November 30, 2002? Good eats for not a lot of money. It would be a great place for a DISmeet. :D

Last time I was checking fares I got one for around 175.00 roundtrip, BUT the flight was a total time of 5.5 hours!!!! So I am still looking. I know I'm coming in on the 3rd (morning) and leaving on the 9th (as late as possible)

:( Not so good, I'm afraid. :(

I check each and every day--religiously--at least once, sometimes multiple times.....and it hasn't dropped below $480 yet. :( It has to drop below $300 before I'll even 'think about it'. I don't want to use my frequent flyer miles on a ticket for this when I can use it for somewhere like Hawaii :sunny: so I'm waiting and hoping. :)

John--I think we took that way to Myrtle beach once...
It would be tough to drive straight through though..hoping to spend the night somewhere and maybe spend a couple hours on the beach somewhere..or maybe drive from Orlando to St. Pete Beach one day while we are down there..
Flight tickets--DW found a good deal through travelocity---Catsrule is gonna use it...think it came to $130 out of Cincinnati--with Northwest..:)

I've got a room at the Scottish Inns at Hardeeville for the night of November 30th. I believe that it's only $32 (plus taxes, of course).

Airfare between Ohio and Orlando has been bouncing all over the place. Our family flew from Akron to Orlando for $112 per person this January. My flight down to DIScon last year (also from Akron) was $158. I've booked flights for October this year from Columbus to Orlando that are in the same $158 price range. But no luck on flights in either November or December. I have a fare watcher going on Travelocity and have seen flights as low as $132 and as high as $540. Sue and I are flying down to do a 3-day cruise in early November and I'm hoping that fares will come down before then.

I figure that it is going to cost about the same whether I fly to DIScon or drive, so I'm going to drive.

Barb, my parents booked their flight in April....at about $215 rt from Allentown with a stop in Charlotte. Apparently the days of direct flights from ABE are over....:(

I had been watching the fares since Feb. and they were only going up....plus the wanted an early flight in on the 30th and late out on the 7th. I think the 30th is a rough day to fly because of being right after Thanksgiving.

Good luck getting a good fare!

We're driving....but arriving on Thanksgiving!

NW frequent flier miles----booked early so we were able to use the old rate of 20,000 miles instead of the new total of 25,000. There will most surely be a fare sale for the time of Dis-Con but I need to make sure we get the flight with the best schedule. Hated to use the miles but will still have enough for a future trip. Gotta love those miles...........PattyN:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Got tickets for $130.00 round trip per person with Northwest. We usually fly Delta non-stop, but they want 314.00, so of course went for Northwest. We must stop in Memphis on the way down, though....maybe we will see Elvis.... :p

Being that I am very picky with my flight times, I am still sitting at about $200 round trip from Columbus. Then again I realize I am leaving the weekend of Thanksgiving, but it stinks to have to pay that much when if I left two days later I'd get it for $150 round trip. I think I am going to look into USAirways with frequent flier miles and see what I get with them. Even if they go under and cancel flights, I won't be out any money at least!

Well I just checked a few minutes ago and from St. Croix it's still running at around $750.00 :earseek: I'll keep checking back with AA for specials.

Meggan and Holly are already ticketed with frequent flyer miles (Amex points) I had with USAir.

travelwatcher? what's that?

I'm still looking for my flight. It still is $270-$350 from CT and I should be able to get better ... at least I hope.

I just plugged my travel dates into Hotwire and got a qoute for $215, but I've never used them before and I'm a little skeptical especally since it won't let me pick 0 connections.

I'm still looking. Guess I got spoiled with the airfare I got last year! RT from CT w/ 1 stop in Atlanta for $80.00/ea.! Found it with farewatcher & booked through Travelocity. Going to be almost impossible to get that again, but I'm trying anyway. :D

Perfectmacth - WOW, what a great rate for last year. Since were both leaving from CT, I'll keep you posted if I find anything good. I'm hoping for anything under $200 preferably non-stop.
