We had this happen to us too when I was trying to but airline tickets to WDW. My empty charge card wouldn't let me charge the tickets. I called the company and found out that someone had charged $21,000+ and $300+ to a travel agency and not taking me on this trip. The best question was when the credit card company asked if I wanted to close the account? :scared1: Gosh no, it seems to be working out so well for the other people. :confused3

OMG! the nerve of not even including you in on the trip! Our charge was less then $50 but the Chase said they will often do a small charge and "test the waters" if it doesn't get caught they will go for bigger amounts. It just such a pain, we had things being paid automatically so we have to make a list.

We got ours on eBay. If you go there and type in Fish Extender, there are several sellers that will do them and they will customize them for you as well. I'll try and post a picture of ours.

Thanks for starting the new thread!

For our FE i went and bought fabric and then this glue stuff called liquid stitch. I followed directions i found here and instead of sewing I glued. To decorate we bought patches meant for the ear hats at MK, wrote our names with a gold glitter fabric pen and used red and black polkaed dotted ribbon to hide the seams. It was really easy and only took a couple of hours because of having to wait for the glue to dry.

You can send me a PM if you want to try and get together... there is a great JoAnn Fabrics in West Knoxville! I like Hobby Lobby too, but they are not open on Sundays. I will bring our FE. I did mine without sewing either, but used the iron on hem tape. It looks pretty good from the front! :rotfl:

Here's some info from the thread on the Grand Gathering at Friday night's Illuminations. I think it starts at 7:30, is that right? Down lower is the Grand Gatherings number and information on signing up from Lissa. But I don't know if there's any room left in the case that someone else wanted to join in at this point.

International Dinner and IllumiNations Dessert Reception
Taste food from all around the world in a buffet style dinner. In the past there have been American, Italian, German and Chinese selections. Your fun-loving hostess, Auntie Roz, will keep the eveningly lively and someone from your party might even be part of the show! Make sure your outgoing children are ready to perform -- and have your camera ready!

Classic Characters such as Minnie Mouse and Goofy have been known to show up right before the dance party begins! After dinner, there is also time for photos with the characters before heading out to your VIP viewing area for "IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth."

The highlight of this viewing spot is a beautiful and elegant dessert buffet. Wine and coffee are served around the chocolate fountain and other sweets. Sounds like a dessert lover's dream come true!

You're leaving so soon? After the fireworks, you do not have to hurry out. Relax! Fill up another plate! Do anything to avoid the mass exodus around you. Think about how peaceful your walk out of Epcot will be once the crowds are gone.

Prices are $59.99 (Adult ages 10+) and $29.99 (Children 3-9). Remember that theme park admission is required and is NOT included in the price of the Grand Gathering.

Illumnations dinner- grand gathering event
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Just got off the phone with WDW. Can't book this yet as it is not 180 days so i will call next Saturday and book it. I can not book it until those that want to be involved add the grand gathering number to their hotel reservation. If your a DVC member you can do this by calling member services others can call CRO. So you don't have to look for the number it is 824529.

Lissa

After over an hour on the phone I finally get through to someone at member services that can help. They have made changes to their system and i was only able to book for my family because you now have to pay for this when you book it. If you are a DVC member call member services tell them you want to book the Illuminations dinner and desert reception. They will connect you to the right person. If you are not a DVc member you call this number 1-407-939-7526. Tell them the same thing. You will need our grand gatherings number. The date we are booking is 7/17. In case you need it my confirmation number for this is M9723692. Our grand gathering number is 824529. Oh why did Disney have to change things they couldn't have just left it alone and this would have been so much easier. Sorry i couldn't book this for everyone.

Yeah - Don't worry about me, I just have to single-handedly get ready for our moving sale - which is May 8-9. DH will conveniently miss that. :rolleyes1 Of course, I'm working full-time and have three kids at home - but I'm superwoman so it's all good. :cool2:

The birds are chirpping, the grass is greening, and my daffodils are blooming! Could spring finally be here? I sure hope so! This morning we are going to meet BIL, SIL, & FIL for breakfast. They live about an hour north of us and FIL wants to meet at 7:30  so much for sleeping in. On any weekday DS is up by 5:30, he likes to read in bed before he gets up. He's not up yet this morning. Guess I better go wake him so we can get going. He has a lacrosse game at 11:30 and our foster son has lacrosse practice at 3:00. His game is tomorrow afternoon when it's supposed to be rainy with a high in the 50's. :scared1:

Good Morning All! Nothing much planned for today. It's storming and should be all weekend. I guess that means cleaning and laundry which I didn't do all week. Then again, a couch and a good book might be a good idea. The Cubs are playing today, so I call the couch and the TV for gametime!!!

Our travel agent has our shore excursions and palo reservations. We decided to take her up on her offer of getting up in the middle of the night. With10 people, 4 staterooms, and the families all intermixed in the staterooms, she can work her magic. Plus, I won't get blamed if something doesn't happen quite right...:lmao:

anyone ever done the Sunny Liston tour in St. Thomas? We had it booked once on an eastern itinerary that "Magically" changed into a western due to weather. They made this announcement as we were pulling out of Port Canaveral. There were lots of angry passengers! I really didn't mind, as long as I was onboard and it was moving, it was great. But needless to say we didn't make the tour but I have heard good things about it.

We selected the Captain Nautica's Snorkeling adventure on St. Thomas and my parents are biking Water Island. For Tortola, we're doing the Snorkeling Norman Island and my parents would like to do Tortola by land and sea. The rest of our group has decided to play it by ear.

I know part of our group thinks we're absolutely crazy for making plans this early, especially making middle of the night reservations. If they'd only frequent the DIS boards, they'd realize, I am far from crazy. We included them in our Palo reservations figuring it would be easier to subtract off the Palo reservation than to add at the last minute.

Since my family is spread out in other staterooms, I will be pushy and demand everyone be at port early. I want to be on the ship 1st thing. Once we've checked in - everyone is on their own. Our family doesn't try to stay together an entire vacation, we'd probably kill each other long before the 7 days are up. Especially because we're staying with my brother's family at the Ron Jon for 3 days pre-cruise.

That will be fun! My kids are Disney park deprived :sad2: They've been to WDW once - Mike was 5 and Maggie was 3. They went to DL for the first time last year for my birthday, it was a great trip and we had a lot of fun! We debated about a pre-cruise trip, but decided just to relax.

Every time a Disney birthday commercial airs, they beg to celebrate my birthday at WDW. Technically DH's too - his is the next day. The kids have school year birthdays, so they are out of luck. I keep telling them to make a choice, DCL or WDW, or something else entirely for their next vacation. As Maggie says - DCL is still Disney...

For Tortola we are going to book the dolphin encounter - the girls really want to pet the dolphins. But we may end up canceling if we can't get Flounders ressies for the baby. She'd love to go and see, but DCL won't let her go as an observer without an adult and won't let DH and I switch off with the older girls. :confused3

We had decided to book it on our own, but evidently DCL has signed a contract with the company that they cannot book DCL passengers separately. So we are stuck. It certainly makes business sense for Disney to do it that way - but it stinks for us.

The tour is only 2.5 hours, so we are debating what else we might try and do. Don't know if there are other tour options - would love to see the island and maybe a beach for a short swim - but not sure if we can do two tours or not.

In St. Thomas, I am anxiously awaiting JoAnn's full report to decide if we can manage to do something on our own or if we should just take the DCL tour to Magen's Bay. We really wanted to go to St. John's Trunk Bay - but DCL won't take kids under 5 - can't understand why. :confused3

DH and I were mapping out our schedule to make sure that we request all the ressies we need tomorrow.

I hope I'm not a bad mom - we're already up to 16 hours of Flounders!!! :scared1::scared1: (Which I know we will probably not be able to reserve all of them before we board, so I'll be racing to the Lounge to get more time.)

We had planned an afternoon at Serenity Bay - but Flounders is closed in the afternoon - so we are having to switch to the morning.

And of course, we have to figure in the DIS Meet, the Castaway Club meet, Palo group brunch, and all the shows!!!! I'm trying not to overplan - but there's so much we want to do!!!!!:thumbsup2

I think DH will sleep with his laptop tonight and set the alarm for 3:45 so that he can be online at 4am to make all these ressies!

Did I tell you all - we got the girls' ressies for BBB??? They were thrilled when I told them. I just hope the plane is on time - otherwise we'll have trouble making the appointment. :scared:

Oh and I tried on my formal gown and IT FITS :banana::banana::banana:. I had it made before DD7 was born - floor-length navy chiffon. It's my favorite dress. But I haven't worn it for almost 6 years!!!!!

Okay - definitely rambling now...Just tell me to be quiet - I can do it if I set my mind to it! :rotfl2::lmao:

Maggie would love to do the dolphin encounter!!! We keep putting her off saying we'll go to Seaworld's Discovery Cove to swim with the Dolphins. Discovery Cove sounds so neat! But, cruising keeps pushing back our someday plans...

When we visited Hawaii, the public beach across from our rental house was a favorite for turtles, she was in heaven snorkeling while the turtles were coming ashore around her. Me, :scared1: I prefer four walls and a bottom for my swimming...

Thankfully, my formal still fits, - I wore it for our January cruise. I've gotten a lot of use out of it since I bought it four years ago for my HS reunion. It's very forgiving and camouflages the extra weight I've added in the past 4 years. It's a perfect cruise formal to hide Palo brunch and dinner, plus it travels well.

Well - if anyone in your group is interested in doing the observer portion and wouldn't mind hanging onto our 2.5 year old. We'd be happy to include Maggie in our group for the encounter.

Otherwise - we'd still be happy to help Maggie if she wants to go - but we might have to cancel if Flounders doesn't work out. (I'm really hoping it works though because I want to see the dolphins too!!!!)

Another idea, if you have to pare down your Flounder's times, prioritize your excursions, then Palo dinner and brunch. Then if you can't grab extra time after you are onboard, I'd be happy to help. On sea days, I'll probably be hanging out at the pool anyway. It's been while since I've entertained a 2 1/2 year old - although I'm sure my 12 year old acts the same at times....:lmao:

Time for PICTURE TAG!!!!!!!!!!

How do you play???

One person posts a picture. The next person has to post his/her own picture with something that is the same from the first picture.

Ex: The first person posts a picture of the Magic. The second person posts a picture of a lifeboat with a life jacket. The third person posts a picture of the muster drill. Etc. etc. etc.

It's fun to see everyone's previous DCL picks. If you haven't been on a DCL cruise before - feel free to post something Disney or non-DCL - but that still depicts something from the previous picture.

So here goes:

Here's a picture of our DDs discovering their gift basket from Shirley on our first Disney Cruise!!!!

Here's a picture of the first dinner on our first cruise, embarrassing the kids by ordering dessert off of the kid's menu "But, mom it's a kid's menu" and then whining the kids got sprinkles on theirs and I didn't. Then discovering the waiters have a sense of humor when they removed mine and returned with a whole bowl dumped on mine.

Last year when I made our reservations it was one of the rare times when both ships were departing on the same day. The Wonder from PC and the Magic starting the return trip from the west coast. There were a lot of returning passengers fighting the web site to make reservations. It was crazy!

Yeah - Don't worry about me, I just have to single-handedly get ready for our moving sale - which is May 8-9. DH will conveniently miss that. :rolleyes1 Of course, I'm working full-time and have three kids at home - but I'm superwoman so it's all good. :cool2:

Ok, I'm back......tonight my DH won over $3000 at the Atlantic City casinos!! Crazy!

Our arrival day in St. Thomas was uneventful........nonstop flight, free coconut rum shot as we entered the terminal (definitely the highlight!).......taxi ride thru town, and check in, lunch, pool time, and dinner....

Our second day we decided to go to St John to visit beaches by taking the taxi to Red Hook, we learned it was a 20 minute taxi ride; a 20 minute ferry ride and a 15 minute taxi ride once we arrived in Cruz Bay, St. John. We decided to visit Cinnamon Bay instead of Trunk Bay b/c CB is free, I think TB is $4 per person to visit. This was the only day it was breezy but both of us did swim and snorkel. When we arrived back in Cruz Bay we did a little shopping and ate at Margarita Phils which was fun but very quiet. At this point we decided to book an excursion to BVI. We obtained a motorboat ressie for a few days from then and we took the ferry and taxi back to our hotel. On our way back we were able to book a catarmaran sail trip to St. John and Jost Van D*** for the following day.

The next day we repeated our taxi/ferry run and were onboard the Calypso by 8:30am. First, we sailed and snorkeled off the coast of St. John, then we hit immigration in Great Bay, JVD, before anchoring and having lunch at White Bay Beach the home of the Soggy Dollar Bar and the Painkiller Drink. The nice thing about this beach was that we could use the chairs and relax wilth little hassle. We also swam and shopped in a very little shop. There was a great bar and small restaurant but the food was pretty good. Finally, we sailed back to St. John.....it was an amazing relaxing day for sure!!

The next day we went into St. Thomas to go shopping. We noticed that there is a decent sized fancy shopping area where the cruise ships disembark. We went to the center of town to a different shopping area and walked up and down looking in souvenir, jewelry, art galleries and clothing shops. Then we ate lunch in one of the open air restaurants. There were a few guys walking around the shopping area, trying to get us to do a tour of St. Thomas or go to Magens Bay. It didn't seem hard at all to do it this way.

Finally, we set off on our next boat ride on the Bad Kitty to various ports in BVi.....we went to Spanishtown for immigration; the Baths of Virgin Gorda, where we swam in; hiked the Baths and swam back out; next, we ate lunch at Cooper Island (which was nice) and then snorkeled at the Indians which was pretty cool. Lastly, we headed back to Cruz Bay.........:goodvibes:love:

Ok, I think I'm done. I got Palo brunch and dinner (if the group brunch works out, will our personal reservation be automatically cancelled, or will it not allow us to be added since we already have the reservation?). We also got corresponding Flounders nursery times.

As feared, there may be a problem with the Dolphin Encounter we want to do, since the earliest excursion doesn't get over until 1:15, and flounders closes at 1:00. I went ahead and reserved the excursion and nursery, but I'm not sure if they'll let us do that.

Tia, at one moment there was a time when it told me there was a problem with the reservation system, and I could call a number. Unfortunately, I didn't write down the number. I just reloaded the page and it started working again. No I can't see the number anywhere. Hope you get it worked out. As Dizzyworld said, the cruise has to be paid in full to make any reservations.

It's after 5am now. I'm going back to bed.

It's after 5am now. I'm going back to bed.

From what I understand, if we are successful at getting the second group brunch, then they will cancel our personal brunch reservations.

At this point, we still need 3 more people to try to get the reservation. (12 people are the minimum and 14 is the max).

Well - if DCL won't cooperate, we will break the rules and try and book directly with the vendor despite Disney's new exclusivity contract. A long long time ago.... in a far off time, we met someone on line, and became good Disney friends with them. They have a son, and I have a daughter and they became good friends. We live halfway across the United States from each other, so the last time we saw them was when we cruised together , but we have remained in touch ever since. Well, these friends were going on this cruise to celebrate their son's 17th birthday (okay, that might not be the only reason LOL). The cruise turned out to be this one.

So, I worked summer school last year, and we were finally able to afford to book an inside room on that same cruise to surprise him… That was well over a year ago. We have kept this surprise for over a year – it was harder on his parents than on us, because we did not have to live with him daily.

Well, last night, was the 90 day mark for returning cruisers. I stayed up until 11pm (Texas time), to make Palo reservations -- our reservations are linked, so I could make the reservations for all of us….

Fast forward to this morning… said son gets up to look at cruise excursions since they are at the 90 day mark… Lo and behold, he sees the Palo reservation with our name on it since the reservations were linked together…

The cat is now out of the bag….. I’m not sure which teenager has had to best expressions of finding out today….. DarthVader or my daughter Princess123…..

So… now I can write more on this board…. and I can even use my real name (Gale) LOL!

For those that live in Houston – I am also Houston (well, actually Katy) person…..

As for immigration in St. Thomas this is from the 2009 Passporter

"Note: In the past, all guests had to meet with U.S. Immigration officials onboard the ship, regardless of whether you plan to go ashore. Recent cruisers are reporting that this is no longer a requirement, but be sure to watch for any notices placed in your room regarding immigration procedures, just in case."

I think you can trust them. We had friends with the same situation and they were very accommodating. I think there was an additional charge though. I just booked our excursions and we return 12:45 if we can be of any help. I have references, LOL, they are 18 going on 19 and 24 going on 25. They didn't turn out half bad

What is the copyright date of the book? This is what is posted on the "DIS DCL FQA":

I guess it could change at any moment.

Thanks for keeping the list updated Nancy!!!!

Can I make a suggestion? It is really helpful to know first names of everyone. Do you think we can post our DH, and children's names on the list too. It makes it much easier to make the connection. What we also did on the Med was to post a pic of ourselves. This way we could recognize eachother and put names and faces to Dis names. Just a suggestion. We put it on the first page for easy access.

:scared1: There should be a rule about snow after March: :)

Excursion question. We have been to St Thomas several times and have decided to do St John this time. If you had to decide between Trunk Bay and Honeymoon which would you choose. Is snorkeling better at one than the other. I don't like water very much but like the beach so I figured I could enjoy the beach while DH and DD snorkel.

Personally snow after Christmas should be outlawed and especially not during baseball season :lmao: I like a White Christmas after that - it's done! Although, who came up with snow at Christmas, I'm pretty sure it wasn't snowing in Bethleham :lmao:

I've been to Trunk Bay twice. I've never been to Honeymoon or Cinnamon Bay.

We were going to try and head over to Trunk Bay on our own because Grace is too young for DCL's tour. Wanna share a cab/ferry?

Holy Cow... I cant keep up with you people. I thought I finaly caught up on the forum and then I saw the link to the new thread.... and 16 pages later, I made it.

For those that live in Houston – I am also Houston (well, actually Katy) person…..

I'm another Houstonian, live just down the street from Monica, even though I never see her around here, usually bump into her at DL or somewhere far away.

I dont know how people with kids can keep track of their lives, I respect all of you. I was doing well for the longest time, juggling everything that was going on, even through the hurricane and recovery efforts... Now I'm losing ground, our house is getting all cluttered up, there are partially finished jobs sitting around all over the place, we still have facia damage on the house from Ike... I swear theres not enough time in a day... or too much time at work. I think I need a vacation

Jeez - it's not like you're sitting around at work twiddling your thumbs - you're taking care of our astronauts!!! Notice how I've never told you exactly where I live - you're risking your life if you stop by unannounced. Chasing after the kids is a great excuse for the condition of the house and the yard :lmao: I hate cleaning and yard work - so, those will always get a low priority!

I know a 14 year old boy who is perfect for outdoor slave labor like lawn mowing around the yard ;)

Hi Susan......Same thing here, we've been to St. Thomas a few times and I thought the kids would really enjoy Trunk Bay. I'm doing the excursion through DCL because traveling without DH I just don't want to deal with possible problems. If you decide on Trunk Bay and we are there at the same time, I'll hang out with you while my two snorkel. it will be fun.

That is crazy that they don't allow children under 5. I guess the boat operators are the ones that determine that. We booked the excursion through DCL maybe we'll see you there.

Sort of. In Dec and Jan, the nights drop down into the high 60s. In the morning when it's only up to the high 70s the girls won't go outside without a sweater. The locals are wearing parkas, scarves and knit caps. Seriously.

Forgot to mention that we reserved High Tea for the first Sea Day and Palo for the last Sea Day. We also made a Brunch ressie for the last Sea Day, but they will probably cancel it when our Group Brunch goes through. Just wish we knew what day it would be.

3princessMommy
04-21-2009, 05:39 PM
Here's what we have reserved so far:

Saturday -
- Board early
- Get additional Flounders time
- lunch at Parrot Cay
- tour spa (maybe win a prize!!!)
- kids swim
- get settled

Sunday, Monday - no reservations
- we want to do some of the tastings but will need Flounders for those and we ran out of hours.
- we also thought that maybe one of these days would be our Palo group brunch
- And we want to make sure the kids are acclimated to the clubs and we get to know the ship, etc.
- Castaway Club meet & greet
- Isn't our cruise meet one of these days at 10am?

Tuesday -
- Dolphin encounter - we are still debating whether to try and do this on our own or with DCL. We made the ressies with DCL and got e-mail confirmation that DD2 can stay in Flounders. But the vendor said we could take her with us - so we're still debating.

Wednesday -
- We are going to head to Trunk Bay on our own unless something better opens up - but DCLs age restrictions are a problem for DD2.
- Palo dinner

Thursday -
- Palo Brunch (although this will probably be cancelled when our group brunch goes through. I too wish I knew when this would be.)
- Galley tour

Friday -
- Serenity Bay morning

Saturday -
- Sadly leave the best vacation ever!

Our plans are:
Monday - Palo Dinner
Tuesday - A Day at the Baths
Wednesday - DH Golf at Mahogany Run, DS & I are still trying to get Sea Trek
Thursday - Palo Brunch
Friday - FUN, FUN, FUN at Castaway Cay
Saturday - hiding somewhere on the ship

Dang! I just remembered we could now book our flight seat assignments. We had no issues however our niece and her 2 kids are going to WDW with us. They are going to have problems. The flight from Milwaukee to Memphis is no problem but Memphis to Orlando is. We took the last 3 seats together and they are the very last row on the plane. We would split up so she can be with her kids if we need to but what a pain. I'm not a fan of Northwest but our preferred airline, Midwest, quit flying to Orlando last year when fuel prices went up. Now, of course, they are going there again but we got tickets on NW instead. :headache:

Hey everyone this is Charleen. I really want to thank everyone for the warm welcome!!!

Joann#2 - I talked with my Dsis and she is still a disboard lerker. I have encouraged them to join so they can post. She is going to talk with Abigail about the e-mailing. She thought that would be really fun for the girls to have a friend before they get to the ship.

I have a question...We are CC members but the rest of the travel group is not. The way I read the reservation message, I would be able to book excursions for everyone. It will NOT let me. Now I think everything will be booked and we will not be able to do anything as a group. Does anyone have any suggestions?

We planned on one FE gift per cabin as well.

Isn't it odd that we never got an excursion booklet???? Especially that as CC club members we booked our excursions already???

Also, been reading about dinner times. It seems that they were staggerd based upon your rotation. Now it seems that the more recent cruises are having dinner at either at 5:45 or 8:15. Anyone else hear about this??

I read the same thing somewhere about dinner times... it really only affects you by 15 - 30 minutes. There was a HUGE thread on the cruise boards about the food! Everybody has an opinion! We are just excited to be going on the cruise!!
