I am 24 years old and going to disney world with my parents.... is that odd? my friends are teachers and can't go the same time frame as me. My siblings (hate to say this on here) don't care for disney and me and parents love it. Is this odd? Still waiting for prince charming (any single men out there 24-30? :wave2: )

LOL not weird at all. I'm 26 and go with my mom and brother every year. We have a lot of fun.. and I see lots of older people who go with their parents. :thumbsup2

Nothing strange about that at all. I think there's something special about the transition that takes place in the relationship with parents. I enjoyed knowing I could relate to mine as an adult and enjoy their company that way, especially on vacation. They used to be group trip organizers, so I travelled with them quite a bit over the years, mostly as a youth though. One place we never visited as a family was WDW. So when I discovered WDW for myself as an adult, I brought THEM to WDW! They loved it so much, they returned on their own together a year later.

It's a gift to be able to spend time with your family. I hope you can cherish the time you have together.

I wish I had gone to Disney with my parents when I was 24. I thought I was too busy with school, and I was, but I still wish I had gone.

I wish I could go with my parents now, but I have lost them both.

Have a magical trip--all three of you.

This isn't our first trip to disney, we went back in 2006 for my graduation.

I am going 3rd week in May. I am paying for half of my mom's trip, since she doesn't work.... or to be nice to my dad, I say a quarter of mom's trip and quarter of dad's trip. :)

1st time we are doing the disney dining plan. I read so much on these boards that helped soo much.

I am 34 and just went in February with my kids and my parents. We have gone every year together since I am 3 and I am sure we have many more trips together. I don't think its odd at all. Enjoy your time with them.

Cherish the time. I went to WDW with my Dad for many years until he passed away. What I wouldn't give to go with him again...

Cherish it always!!!

My parents are two of my best friends and I went with them alone to Disney World when I was 28 (and still single), so you've got a few good years left!!

I went with just my dad when I was 24 - we had a great time! (My mom, my now husband (then boyfriend) and my brothers stayed home. I don't think it's weird at all!

I take my mom a lot, matter of fact, Mother's Day weekend is our next trip, with one of my sisters. She enjoys it, and I cherish the time with her as she has some minor issues, but after having fought Breast Cancer, it means even more.

When I don't plan to meet up with friends and I don't want to go alone, or there is something new.. "Hey mom, wanna go to Disney?" I don't think I have ever gotten a no:lmao:.

When you're in your teens, hanging out with your parents is darn right embarrassing and you wouldn't want to be seen anywhere near them! Once you're in your 20's you mature and realize that such is not the case. Enjoy!

32 yrs old here ... and I have no problem at all going to WDW with my parents. They have an RV, and it's great staying at Ft Wilderness with them. I typically fly down and meet them there.

As Buena Vista said, It's very cool transitioning from going as a kid, to visiting WDW as an adult with your parents. I've had a ton of trips to WDW as a kid, but I think I enjoy it way more with the parents as an adult (especially of drinking age). It's such a better dynamic travelling more as peers, than being lugged around as a kid. I even hit the Adventurer's Club with my Dad on their last Halloween. We both went in costume in what will probably be one of my favorite WDW memories.

I guess its not so odd for me, but more that it will be an interesting week! I do lots of stuff with my parents now that we live near each other again....but we have always had trouble vacationing together haha. If you are going at the end of October and see 3 adults trying to pull each other in different directions, thats us!!!

Trust me ... it's easy for a vacation to become stressful for any family, including a family of adults. If you're staying on site, just be prepared to do some things on your own.

There were plenty of times where I spontaneously split off from my parents and just told them I would meet up with them later ... many times just to relax at the Rose&Crown or Tune-In Lounge

I wouldn't worry about it, when the time comes it just all works out :) Plus i go a lot with my parents and they end up getting tired and want to go relax and im 28 so i meet up with them later for a fast food break or a walk around a place like downtown disney. Sometimes its nice to take a walk around the resort, you know its like taking a walk around the neighborhood at home, i bet you do that sometimes, right????? :P

First off, I am 48 years young. I go to WDW and Disneyland as many times a year as I can possibly afford. My parents are not disney fans so would not consider a trip. . .HOWEVER, for those of you with kids consider this. My son is 16 and LOVES going to Disney. Disneyland, Disneyworld, whatever. He doesnt care as long as mom is going. He will always be a disney nut and will one day marry someone who is either a disney nut or will be a convert soon after they meet.

Here is my son with me on my 48th Birthday trip last month:

I don't think it's odd; you enjoy spending time with your parents and have a place you like to do it at. Nothing wrong with that. I have a teenager so it's touchy but we share many of the same interests as well.

I'm 24 as well and I went to Disney with my parents last year. I had a great time as much fun as when I was younger maybe because we spent a lot less time in the boiling heat around fantasyland!

I also felt that as I was an adult I could have a little bit of space, this usually involved me going shopping whilst the waited somewhere nearby that sold food!

Go and have fun! I'm 30 and last July my sister (25) and brother (27) - along w/ his little girl - all went to Disney with my parents. We had a great time. I'm planning a trip next May and am hoping my mom or dad can join me.

I don't think you're weird at all, well, unless my kids are weird.

On Easter Sunday, my 80 yo father said to me, I think we need to do Disney this year. With that, both my 31yo daughter and 23 yo son shouted, "let's go!"

Maybe it's just our family, but our kids are always up for a trip if the timing is right for them, and it's not just Disney. I think it says a lot about your family that the generations get along well enough to spend what little vacation time they have together. :thumbsup2

Definitely not weird - I'm in the process of convincing my mom (55) to take me (37), my sis (32) & my niece (3). The idea of sharing a "generational" trip makes it even more fun!

You are so right...that is a great way to put it. I mean I love walking around the neighborhood or just relaxing alone, and then I will still have plenty of time to enjoy with my parents who are really excited to go. Plus who knows who you may meet at the world, right?!?

Not weird! I am 22 and going with my mom next month. We are meeting one of my best friends and her mother there, as well. So not weird. If we were going anywhere else, my dad would have come too, but he strongly dislikes Disney.

I love going on vacation with my parents. We always have a good time.

Not weird...I'm 34 and my sister is 40 and we are going with our parents in September. My grandparents live in Daytona so each summer since 1979 we would go to MK. I remember ticket books and visiting the observation platform when they were building Epcot. So my family has been to Disney, many many many times! It will be my Dad's 63rd B-day and the first time parents and sis have stayed on Disney property. We can't wait!

I am just happy I get along with my mom since a lot of people I know don't seem to.

I don't think so. I went with my parents on their first and only Disney trip when I was about that age. It was a great trip. That was many years ago and they are both deceased. I'm glad I have those memories.

:wizard: My daughter is 24 and we're going in August. We've been going, just the 2 of us, for about 10 years. She's the youngest and I have always loved having special time with her. Every year we say "this is the last year we'll probably be able to go" and then we somehow manage to book another trip. We have wonderful memories of our trips...life can change in a heartbeat so enjoy yourself and enjoy spending time with your parents. Anyone who thinks it's weird just doesn't get it!

I'm 32 and going with my mom this year. We always do a big family trip and this year we are going to WDW. WOOO HOOO!
I was told once don't worry what others think--they don't do it that much.
Enjoy. I'm sure it will be a great time.

I'm 34 and I still travel regularly with my parents (at that includes WDW).

Our sitatution is a little different though - my parents aren't in the best financial sitaution so I pay for the trips. I figure they supported me while I did what I had to do to be in the position that I am today, there's nothing wrong with me giving something back to them.

They are, however, the reason I won't buy DVC. Whether we got a studio or a 1 bdrm, I know I'd end up on the pull out couch and I'm sorry, but I just can't put out that kind of money to spend my next 10 or so years vacationing on a pull out couch!:laughing::laughing::laughing:

I'm 46 and have been going with my parents for years.
My partner doesn't like Disney so I usually go with my parents (When I'm not travelling solo that is)
Now that I'm older though, its more like I take them with me instead of me going with them.
They are some of my best trips going.

I bought into DVC and everytime we go I end up on the sofa!!!
They way I figure, they won't be around forever and I also do some solo trips, so its not so bad.

Glad to know others take the parents. I will be 42 next week and have gone to Disney with my father too many times to count. He took me to WDW on my first trip in 1975. I have a solo trip in July and a trip with Dad in December.

I'm 23 and I've been to Disney three times alone with just my mom. (well my brother and his fiancee met up with us twice but they had their own hotel room and plans) In August (I'll be 24) and my mom and I are going alone together. There is no one I'd rather travel with. Sure, I'd like to experience Disney with my friends but they aren't into/can't afford it (I don't think I could either without my mom actually, lol) but I have so much fun with my mom! I wish my Dad was still here to go with us but we went a few years before he passed when he was still well enough to enjoy it (in a wheelchair) and I have a lot of good memories there with him.
I don't think it's weird at all to go with your parents and have fun! Plus, it makes you the "kid" experiencing the magic!

It's fun to go with my parents, oddly. It works out great. My dad and I ride all the rides that my mom refuses to do and my mom holds our stuff and figures out what to do next. :cool1:
