Hey everyone, welcome to my pre-trip report!:flower3:
There will be a little bit of Disney World and a cruise, along with celebrating a birthday, and 2 different Disney hotels....lots of stuff to talk about here!
I guess i'll start off with the cast of characters-
Jamie (that's me)- I'm the Disney nut of the family. I'm a stay at home mom, which gives me way too much time to plan trips to Disney :woohoo: I'm always looking for deals on the next trip. We had no intention of taking a Disney cruise or even going back to Disney so soon since we were just there in September. But when I plugged in some dates for the kids free I about fell over at how cheap it was. I tend to drive my husband especially crazy with all this Disney stuff. But, he understands it's my 'thing'.
Kenny (my husband)- He won't be joining us on this trip. He's a union laborer and is not able to take time off from work on the current job he's working on. So he gets to take care of the house and pets, fun stuff! :rolleyes1
Tristan (11...turns 12 next week!)- He's the one celebrating a birthday at Disney, lucky kid! I never got to do anything nearly as cool as going to Magic Kingdom for my birthday. He's my little gamer. I'm wondering if he's going to have seperation anxiety from his xbox and that darn head set he wears to 'chat' with his xbox friends :rotfl:
Madison (10)- My challenging child. She's not into Princess's, not into HSM, not really into anything 'girly'. She, however, like me, LOVES her Disney trips :cloud9: She'll sit with me for hours with her little Birnbaum for kids and plan, it's good to have a partner in crime :thumbsup2 She's a tad jealous that her brother gets to be in Disney during his birthday and has let it be known that she expects the same for her birthday next year.
The plans-
We fly into Orlando Monday, April 20th. We're taking Magical Express to CBR, then we'll rent a car for the week at the CCC. The kids don't know it, but we're staying in a pirate room! pirate: They are going to be shocked when they open that door!!!
Monday we're planning on going to Downtown Disney to do the Characters in Flight hot air balloon ride. We'll probably grab dinner there too.
Tuesday our plans are up in the air at this point. We might go to Sea World or Universal, or we just might hang out at the pool all day.
Wednesday we'll spend at Magic Kingdom. We will also be checking out of CBR and into a studio villa at AKV!!! So excited!
Thursday to Sunday we'll be sailing on the Wonder!
Sunday we'll spend at Downtown Disney, then heading home that night.

An Easter pic of the kids...it's never easy to get pics of them together, smiling...thank goodness my sister in law uses live animals each year for her Easter photo sessions, works quite well to get the kids smiling, together ;)

Be forewarned...I take a LOT of pictures :thumbsup2 And i'm one of those who takes pics of food too :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Jamie,
I have been so ready for this trip to get here already. I am living through you guys right now. I will be glued to the :surfweb: waiting on each update and pictures! I want to see a pic of the bathroom on board. Is it tiny? Would I fit?
You guys are gonna have the best of times. I am so jealous but so excited at the same time. I want a pirate: room too. LOL
Oh and I want to know the weight limit on the balloon ride. I know it will hold up to 30 people.. but is that 30 skinny people?? In other words if my family went up would they say okay this flight has only room for 3??? :scared1:
If you think of it grab me some disney maps :woohoo: for my crew to look at over the next 10 weeks. We are ready to go and I need to do more planning ..

I'll get lots of bathroom pics, just for you! lol I don't think the balloon goes by weight, just by passengers. But i'll check anyway ;)
And i'll definitely grab one of each of the park maps at the hotel. Your trip will be here before you know it!!!!!!
Thanks for jumping on board :hippie:

Just some random info I forgot to add....
For the cruise we booked a Cat 12 gty. We received some pixie dust though and were upgraded to a Cat 9, deck 1  We'll have 2 small port holes (yay, one for each kid!).
We have only booked 1 excursion. My son picked it, the stingray excursion at Castaway Cay. We have fed them for free at the zoo :rolleyes1 but it is part of his birthday gift, so.....
I'm still not certain our plans for Nassau. It's such a hard choice, stay on the boat and take advantage of it's offerings....or get off the boat and experience a different culture. If we get off, we'll just do something around the port. Maybe Ardastra or the Pirate Museum. We might check out the Harley and Del Sol shops. Who knows, we'll decide that day when we get up!

Sounds like you have a great trip planned - and I'm jealous that your DS gets to spend his Birthday at MK too - my DD spent her Birthday at the MK last year and was treated like a star all day :)
Thanks for the pictures, it's nice to put faces to names - you're a cute looking family. I hope you have a fantastic trip and look forward to reading your trip report on your return.

Okay, in 10 short minutes, my countdown will be 2 days!!!! That calls for some dancing bananas!!!:banana::banana::banana::banana::banana:
So, I get a call this morning. Madi is running a fever at school :scared1: Fudge! So I get her and call the dr's office. Took her in this afternoon and it's basically just a virus that has to run it's course :scared1: We went through this last month. She had a fever that would not go away for an entire week. I'm freaking a bit to say the least! So i'm feeding her Tylenol/Motrin, Mucinex, allergy meds, and doing the nasal spray. Cross your fingers that she's better by Monday!!!
I came to the realization tonight while attempting to finish packing that it's going to be impossible to fit everything in the 3 suitcases I have pulled out for the trip. I hoped to not have to use the HUGE ones, but i'm running out of room :scared: I decided to stop trying for the night. I'll work on it again tomorrow.

HOPE YOUR DAUGHTER IS FEELING BETTER! My DD(11) horse show was a bust this weekend- horse almost threw her off and she got " emotional" so not a good one- so I am glad I kept the trip a surprise! Due to the sleeping in the car in 48 degree weather(we are from SC so that is bone chilling cold to us) I have started a Zpac- no sick for me PLEASE- We look forward to seeing you Thurs- Looks like it is just me and the kids as well- Habe a great time in DW!

[FONT="Comic Sans MS"]Day 1...Travel day
I have no idea how I ever fell asleep the night before, but I did. And I even managed to get about 3 hours sleep...woohoo! The alarm went off and we were out the door at 4am. A 2 min drive to pick up MIL at her house (she was taking us to the airport) and we were off! I made it to the airport in record time, 45 min. So we had quite a wait ahead of us! We got our luggage weighed (I had at least 10 lbs more I could've stuffed in those bags! :lmao:) and jumped in the very short security line at MCI (Kansas City).
We found some chairs and got settled in. Our flight didn't leave until 6:45am so we had a bit of time to kill.
The kids kept themselves busy reading and I played on Facebook :goodvibes
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y271/momto2inkc/trisairport.jpg
Pretty soon it was time to board! We were flying Southwest for the first time and had A-30 something boarding numbers. We ended up in the 5th row, not bad!
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y271/momto2inkc/tripreport2.jpg
The flight was quick and un-eventful! We even had a singing steward, good times! :thumbsup2
We headed right down to the Magical Express check in. The line was fairly short and we were on our way to the red carpet in no time. We waited about 10 minutes till it was time to board the bus. The first stop was Pop Century where nearly the entire bus got off at. Next stop....Caribbean Beach Resort! I had previously done online check in, so I walked right up to the online check in desk and it literally took maybe 1 minute and we were off to our room! I love online check in and will use it every trip!
We went outside to wait for the bus to take us to our building. We had a pirate room, so we were in Trinidad South, building 35, first floor. The room was in a great location! Here's some pics of the pirate room-
Table and chairs

By now we were completely starving! It was around 12, so we decided to walk to Old Port Royale for some counter service lunch. I want to say here real quick....every trip to Disney we've been on the dining plan. This time however, we were not. I will NEVER do Disney without the dining plan again. I like having it all paid up front. And it is such a money saver!
So we walked and took some pics on the way...
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y271/momto2inkc/Disney2009014.jpg
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y271/momto2inkc/Disney2009024.jpg
I know a lot of people complain that the pirate rooms are too far away from everything, but it was literally only a 10 minute walk :confused3
So we grabbed some lunch (sorry no pics). Tristan had pizza, Madi and I had cheeseburgers.
I then called National to schedule a pick up time to get our rental from the Car Care Center. He said they could be there in 15 minutes if we were ready. Okay! Sounds good to me! So we head out to the bus stop...ugh...this is why we rent cars now. The bus took FOREVER to get there. We were late, but luckily so was the National shuttle :rolleyes1
Picked up our car (a Mazda 5, I wasn't too impressed it, but it served it's purpose) and headed back to CBR so the kids could swim a bit before dinner.

So we just picked up the rental car and headed to thre pool. It was nearly impossible to find a seat with a view of the pool so I could keep an eye on the kids. But I eventually found one with a partial view.
I sent them on their way and headed to the pool bar! I was so ready for a nice fruity, slushy drink ;)
Here's part of me and my yummy drink
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y271/momto2inkc/tripreport3.jpg
Being the only adult, it's nearly impossible to get pics with yourself in them. But at least I got the alcohol in the pic!!! :thumbsup2
The kids just loved this pool. They really loved the fact that it had a slide. Here they are having some fun-

Here's when I was attempting to get them out of the pool. My drink was gone and my belly was ready for some dinner!
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y271/momto2inkc/tripreport4.jpg
They weren't hungry and definitely weren't ready to get out! So I gave them 1 more hour to swim. It did start raining right after that. I was lucky enough to then snag a table with an umbrella. A really nice lady joined me. She had brought her grandsons to Disney and we chatted for a bit while staying out of the rain. I finally got the kids out and we headed to the room for showers and to get ready for dinner.
We decided to head to Downtown Disney and see if we could get in at the T-Rex restaurant. DD was PACKED! We parked and made our way to T-Rex. There was no way we would be getting in anytime soon. The line was so long we just decided on McD's, kids choice. I wanted to eat at Earls but was out numbered :confused3 So we had McD's, which honestly it wasn't that bad, then walked around a bit.
We checked out the Lego Store, but didn't stay and play.

http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y271/momto2inkc/Disney2009026.jpg
We headed to the toy store and browsed, then to the Christmas store. I was hoping to find a Babys 1st Christmas ornament for my soon to be niece, but no luck. Next stop....Goofys Candy Co.!! We just love this place! Madi and I decided to make a treat, both of us chose the pretzels. Tristan got a tube of flavored sugar.
Here's the CM making some treats...
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y271/momto2inkc/goofys.jpg
We decided to head back to CBR. We were all pretty tired at this point. So back to the hotel, showers for all and off to bed! We had quite a discussion about what we'd be doing the next day. Choices were...Universal Studios, a Disney water park, Gator Land, or just hanging out at CBR.

Those are the only 2 pics I got at the Lego Store. My camera was burning through batteries, so I just had my iPhone with me that night. I'm so glad I finally figured out (only after spending almost $50 on batteries :scared1:) that my camera requires the lithium batteries. UGH At least I found that out before the cruise portion!

Hey everyone, sorry for not updating the trip report in such a long time :rolleyes1
As you can see from my siggy, we have a new vacation to start planning! We have decided to take part in the Dis Unplugged podcast cruise next year. I'm such a big fan of the Dis podcast and am sooooo excited that I get to go :dance3: And I guess i'll let the husband and kids tag along too LOL
Okay, so i'm off, right now, to upload the next days pics so I can get another installment up!!

Tuesday April 21st
So we left off Monday night, the kids and I were discussing what to do the next day. I'm so not used to a Disney trip where the night before we have no idea what we'll be doing the next day! So after much discussion, begging, pleading by the kids, we wound up deciding on....
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y271/momto2inkc/Disney2009030.jpg
This was our 5th trip to Disney and we had never spent a day at the water parks. So I gave in. I don't particularly like being in the water. It's just not my thing.
So we got up and headed to the Hess station, where we picked up a very nutritious breakfast of chips and cokes for the kids and a banana nut muffin for me. We headed over to Blizzard Beach. We didn't have tickets yet and I quickly spotted the kiosk to buy them. I'm not sure why no one uses these kiosk. The lines to buy tickets from a CM were quite long. Glad I used the kiosk!
So once the park opened we went straight to the store to rent a locker. Got all of our valuables in the locker, then went to the rope to wait for the official opening. We decided to head to the wave pool area to find some chairs. Found some chairs and the kids headed right in.

Didn't take long before Tristan was done with this and ready to move on to other things.
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y271/momto2inkc/Disney2009033.jpg
So once we were able to coax Madi out of the water, we headed up ALL those stairs to ride Teamboat Springs. Okay, i'll admit, this was FUN! It's a big raft that holds about 6 people. We were put with another group of 3 and off we went! Once we finished, we went right back up and rode again. Next we decided to take a spin around Blizzard Beach on the lazy river (Cross County Creek). Quite a nice relaxing ride! It's mostly in the shade, which is great once it gets really hot!
Next we decided to go grab our things and move over to Ski Patrol Training camp. I think the kids would've been happy to have just stayed in this spot the entire day. THey had so much fun!
Here's Madi crossing the icebergs

And Tristan giving it a go
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y271/momto2inkc/Disney2009034-1.jpg
Then they decided to try out the zip line. We saw so many kids nearly get hurt because they did not know to let go at the end of the line. The t bar would hit the end and their feet would fly up nearly to their head :scared1: Thank goodness mine knew to let go!

http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y271/momto2inkc/Disney2009036-1.jpg
The kids wanted to do the lazy river again, so I sent them on thier way while I grabbed my iPhone and got on Facebook ;) Had to keep everyone updated when I could! Once they got back, Madi decided she wanted to go again. I shouldn't have let her. Tristan and I had been sunning for some time and I kept thinking she should be back around by now (our chairs were actually right on the lazy river, so I had been watching for her). Anyway, finally I see her exit and come across the bridge. But she never makes it back to us. After about 10 min I check the bathroom, not there. Check the ski patrol play area, not there. Start to panic. Go back to our chairs, Tristan said he still hadn't seen her..crap! So I tell him to stay put and watch for her. I go walking and come across the food place. The people tell me the only way to report a lost child is to go all the way to the front. I walk a bit more and decided to head back to where Tristan was. He still hadn't seen her. So I go to the life guard right there and he said he would report her missing, but just then she just comes walking by like nothing was wrong UGH She still to this day SWEARS she wasn't lost.
So anyway, we were all starving by now. I went over and got hot dogs and chips for us all. The food was okay, just basic Disney fare.
After lunch we grabbed up all of our stuff and decided to head to another part of the park to see what we could find to do. We ended up throwing our stuff down somewhere and jumping in the lazy river for another go around.
After that we found Snow Stormers and the kids just had to ride a few times. I happily sat in the viewing area and relaxed :goodvibes

http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y271/momto2inkc/Disney2009044.jpg
It was around 2pm now and we were getting pretty worn out. We headed towards the front and Tristan decided he just HAD to do the lazy river one more time. Madi was wanting ice cream, so we sent him on the lazy river and she enjoyed her itzakadoozi while waiting. Once he was done we headed to our locker to empty it out and return our key. Now it was time to head back to CBR for a much needed nap!

I *knew she was fine, but just lost :headache: But still, a very unsettling feeling. Next time I think we'll try out Typhoon Lagoon, just so we can compare the 2. The kids just loved it, though. I would be happy to sun/nap all day :cool2:

After spending the day at Blizzard Beach, we headed back to CBR for some MUCH needed rest! We all showered and napped just a bit. I had a gift card for the Outback Steakhouse, so we headed there for dinner. It was quite yummy! We completely stuffed ourselves :goodvibes
We stopped next door for bottled water for the cruise and MORE batteries! I could not belive I was burning through batteries so quick! Thank goodness the next day I figured out I needed one of those special batteries.
After we left I just didn't want to go back to the hotel, I NEEDED more Disney LOL So we drove over to the Boardwalk. It was so nice out, we spent a good hour walking the Boardwalk. We started at one end and made our way all the way over to the International Gateway to Epcot. Oh I wanted to go in SOOOOO badly! Epcot is really I think my favorite park. I can't wait to go back! Here's some pics from our stroll.

We made our way back to the car and drove 'home'. Madi wanted to swim, Tristan wanted to watch tv. So I took Madi to the pool right outside our room and Tristan stayed in the room. It was quite cool this night, I had about 3 or 4 pool towels using them as blankets LOL I only let Madi swim for about 45 min then we headed back to the room. I had to pack up our stuff since we were moving over to Animal Kingdom Villas for one night in the morning

Hey momto2inKC,
Either we were following you or you were following us....
We were at DTD on the night of April 20th. We had dinner at the T-Rex restaurant to celebrate my son's 10th bday ...the line to get in was big, but we had a reservation so we didn't have to wait in the line.
Then on April 21st, we went to BB - my son did that 'hang on the rope until it hits the stopper-thingy really hard' ride too. We got some nice photopass pics of him doing that. I love BB...it was a really nice day there. Then we went back to our resort, the YC, and went across the lake to hang out at the boardwalk.

What is all over at the Boardwalk? I know Beaches and Cream is there. Been wanting to go there, but haven't made it on our two trips. We're heading down for a cruise in July and have a free night. Might go to the Boardwalk instead of DTD, if there is stuff that interests us.
Anyone know if you can park at the resort, even though you are not staying on property? Does Beaches and Cream take ressies?

I'm not even sure what all is there, we mostly just walked around. I do remember seeing an arcade, and then there are several restaurants/sports bars. From what I hear the entertainment varies, just depends on who's out there when you go. They do have those big bikes that hold the whole family you can rent and ride around.
The last I heard, no ADR's are taken for Beaches and Cream.
As far as parking, we just parked in self parking. I told the attendant at the gate that we were there to look around, he told us come on in :goodvibes

O.K Momto2inKC i'm over here having trip report withdrawl. i'm so happy that you are able to go to disneyworld as well as cruise. We only live 9 hours from Disney and it takes an act of congress to get my DH to drives us more than once a year. And get this he's a truck driver (owner operator) so it's not like he don't drive 7-8 hours straight anyway. o.k rant over LOL LOL
Seriously i'm glad you all had a great time. and happy you made it home safe. Now if I can only get up the nerve to go buy a gps, gas up the mini van and take the kids myself for a quick get-a-way

It's not to bad at all without him. It's more stressful when there's 2 adults for some reason LOL I went a couple of years ago to Disney World with the kids for 11 days, it was so nice!!!
I say go for it! :cool1:

Thanks for giving me hope. I think I will go for it. i'll start looking for the perfect GPS and if that fails i'll look into a nice cheap flight that way I won't have to worry about tranportation.
