I just found out that I am permitted to have a plated reception at my reception venue after all. The problem is I am running out of time to pick my menu and I will be able to make it to Disney for a tasting. Does anyone mind posting their menus or pming them to me and if you don't mind me asking with prices? Can anyone give me insight on wish dishes they really like and others that I should stay away from. Thank you!

Ours was a really long time ago, but family still talk about how good the meal was. Prices probably not relavent, but I will say we were right at our required per person cost for our venue, not over by much, if any.

Caesar Salad
Lobster Bisque
Petite Filet with Carribbean Spiced Grilled Shrimp
Roasted Red Potatoes with herbs
Vegetable medley - I think it had a couple kinds of squash, asparagus and something else
French Bread w/ butter

For dessert we had wedding cake. We did a UK fireworks party later that night, so I didn't want to go overboard and have too many treats.

No alcohol - we did a couple kinds of punch, sparking white grape juice, soft drinks, coffee and tea.

We chose the "Sleeping Beauty a la carte" plated package. That way we could select everything we wanted even though it does cost more than some of the other plated dinners because those include your pre-reception, sometimes the intermezzo, and dessert.
Our Menu

Pre-Reception
"Flora" (3 choices):
Smoked Duck w/ Spicy slaw in phyllo cups
Spanokpitas w/ Olive tapenade
Bacon crusted Beef and Blue Cheese
"Cheese Display" w/ artisan breads, crackers, imported cheese
and fruit.
We tried like 6 different options and selected the 3 we liked best and that we thought our guests would enjoy.
Reception
Appetizer: Pan Seared Crab Cake w/ Mango & Red Onion Chutney,
Tamarind Coulis, and Leeks
(the crab cake was wonderful and meaty- not a lot of filler)

Salad: Mixed Field Greens, Grape Tomato, Euro Cucumber, & Carrot Curls w/
Citrus or Balsamic Vinaigrette (Served French Style).
(we were going to go with the caeser prepared tableside originally, but upon trying their version we found the salad to be VERY heavy w/ cheese and dressing and was simply too much. We were much happier w/ the field greens)

Intermezzo: Mango Sorbet with Macerated Fruits in a Martini Glass.
(My DH LOVED IT! And since I picked the cake it was only fair)

Entree Selections:
*Seared Beef filet with Red Wine Demi & Lobster Tail w/ Tarragon Beurre
Blanc.
*Seafood Platter: Oven Roasted Chilean Sea Bass w/ Jumbo Shrimp and
and Scallops on a Sugar Cane Skewer, Topped with Basil Pinot Grigio
Sauce.
*Blistered Airline Chicken Breast with Tomato, Black Olives, and Fresh
Garlic.
All meals were served with BoardWalk Scalloped Potatoes, Fresh Baby Carrots and Zucchini.
Everyone LOVED their entrees!

We tried the Duchess potatoes- they were dry and unappealing. Also, we played around with many different sauces and such before we finalized our menu with Chef Dennis.

We had the "Top shelf" bar and wine package (sorry- I can't remember which one that is), 2 specialty cocktails, and then the Premium Cordials after dinner with the wedding cake and coffees.

I prefer not to post prices here, but if you are looking at an option like this PM me and I'd be more than happy to help.

**A good tip for everyone with plated dinners:
I didn't want the servers "taking orders" at the tables since everyone already gave us their menu selections in the RSVP's. To insure everyone got the correct entree I color coded the place cards to each dinner. (Navy ribbon=filet, Silver ribbon= Seafood, Pink ribbon= Chicken, White ribbon=special entree) That way the servers knew who ordered what and everyone received exactly what they wanted without being asked (again). It's a very easy "WOW" factor! :goodvibes
