Does the escape wedding package come with a free room the night of your wedding day at a disney resort of your choosing? I know the wishes package does, but not sure if escape couples get the same. probably not, i thought i read that somewhere though. can anyone elaborate?

Only the Wishes package get the comp night IF they meet their room block requirements.

I was told when I talked to my planner that the Escape brides can get that discount as well if they have 20 night stays from everyone in their group. Is that what you were asking? I was also told once my group (because they can book via my wedding page) hits 10 night stays there's a discount applied.

You can get a 10% discount for rooms with an Escape wedding. At least this is what I was told in January, but no free room.

If you can guarantee 10 or more rooms (not just room nights) will be reserved by you and your guests, you may set up a room block to receive a 10% discount on Disney resort accommodations.
However your guests can probably get far better deals just using the discounts Disney is offering to the general public right now, or booking through a Travel Agent or using the AAA discount. :thumbsup2

They must have changed it over for Escape weddings because I talked to my planner a week ago and she told me it was stays and 10 nights got a discount and 20 nights got the bride a groom a comp night. I thought it was 10 rooms as well but my planner assured me that it was stays, we're staying 6 nights so she told me that we only needed 4 more nights for our guests to get the discount and 14 more nights to get the free night for us. I'm just explaining it how she explained it to me.:confused3

I believe you!
I think Disney is scrambling right now to fill the hotels, so it makes sense that they would change the policy to be more friendly to Escape couples. How cool! :thumbsup2

That's the only reason I could come up with, I must have asked her like 20 times to explain it again so I could make sure I was hearing her right. I also asked, because we'll have some military members that are eligible for the 40% off discount at various resorts so will book with that discount as it's the better deal, if they're rooms counted towards my count and she said yes and they'd keep their 40% discount.
They must be hurting if they're going to all this trouble to make sure the wedding guests stay on property.

Just out of interest, do you know if this would only apply to new room bookings? DF and I have 21 nights in Disney hotels, and my mum and dad have 7. Would be great to get one of our nights comped!

Yes I'd be interested to I've got 18 nights booked and my parents 8 nights, so 26 nights booked total.

I'm pretty sure in the Passporters Disney wedding book, it says that Escape couples get a free night.

Well we are on the topic of hotel rooms. Did I read correctly on another thread that wishes wedding room blocks are 30% off the rack rates?
What are the typical discounts?
lurkyloo
04-17-2009, 12:41 AM
The room block discounts range between just under 10% to about 30%, depending on resort. Values get less than 10% off, Moderates get just under 15% off, Deluxes that don't have a convention center get 15% off, and convention center Deluxes get 30% off.
At the moment your guests will probably save more by booking one of the numerous deals Disney is offering to the general public and then just applying their reservation numbers to your block so that they count toward your requirement.

We will have a total of 76 room nights booked through Virgin Holidays with all our party staying at Pop Century, so should I ask my planner if we can get a free night? I guess we would then have to cancel one our Virgin nights though if we can do this....

its harder for the uk brides to get a room free if booked as a package as the tour operator would ahve got a good deal anyway as they buy so amny rooms
If this is the case that escape brides get a free room I would suggest booking the free night at another resort as I doubt the tour operator would allow you to cancel one night without a penalty
What we did was keep our CSR booking with Virgin holidays and then our comp night was at the poly so we just took an over night bag with out stuff in there instead of checking out and then back in again

If I could get a free night i'd use it the night before the Wedding so that DF and I could have seperate rooms.

yes we booked a night for dh from our room block and he stayed with the best men the night before the wedding.
It was weird as we could see each others rooms but didnt see each other till the moment down the aisle

That's a really good idea, I've already rented 2 DVC nights at the BWV for the wedding eve and night of, and DF would only be joining me on the 2nd night, this way we could get him a seperate room there for the wedding eve, and then he wouldn't have to travel as far...
Or..... we could pick another night and stay at the Poly later on in the holiday, I'd love to stay there.
For the DVC stay we're staying booked into Pop as well, so this would be the easiest approach again rather than cancelling.
Soooooooooooo, has anyone verified this yet, or shall I email my planner?

Okay I got impatient already and emailed my planner :rotfl:
I'll let you know the outcome.
It wouldn't surprise me if this is a new thing for new contracting brides only or something though. 34Angels, when did you contract?

I'd like to know too! I'm sitting here adding up all the nights my guests and I have booked, and it is over 20 so I'd love a free night. I'm not sure if I'd get one though since we're doing the "buy 4 get 3 free" deal, but even with my 4 paid nights we are still over 20.

Right, it's still a work in progress for me but........
:cool1:It is possible for you to qualify for a complimentary room night for your wedding:cool1:
Here's the rules!:
With your planner you will create a room block for your wedding, which will also mean an addendum to your contract, if you're already signed up.
You will need to guarantee a minimum of 25 room nights.
Rooms booked outside of the room block by yourself and your wedding guests will count toward the minimum as long as your planner receives the reservation numbers and can verify that these are booked by your guests for the time of your wedding.
Any rooms in the block not booked by you or your guests will be dropped 30 days prior to your wedding date.
Should you not meet the minimum, you will be charged for the difference between what is actually booked and the guarantee - this will be calculated based on the lowest room rate in your room block and added to your wedding budget.
The reason mine is still a work in progress, is that every resort is listed on the room block, except Pop Century, which is where all our room nights are, so fingers crossed this will be okay, I'm awaiting the reply. I notice DVC rooms aren't listed there either, so this may be something others may have to investigate, but I can't see why they wouldn't count either
We also want to take our complimentary night a few days after the wedding, as we already have our accommodation sorted over this period, so again I'm waiting to hear back on that.
So good news ladies if you're in the "normal" criteria so far, keep everything crossed for me that we can have Pop in our room block :scared:
I don't know whether this is a permanent change or not, my planner had to check with the sales team as they're constantly updating things, so grab it while you can I say!:thumbsup2

Thanks for the news - will check with Tanis.
I'm hoping we could get our free night without adding to what we've already got as don't need any extra nights - maybe keep the room at POFQ for the wedding night, then stay somewhere else?

We won't qualify if they don't allow rooms at POP as more than half our guests are staying there.

I'm still waiting for the latest on this, my planner has told me that the reason Pop isn't on the standard list is that it can be difficult to get hold of (?) but she is checking with the sales team. I looked on the UK and US Disney sites and both are showing availablity at the resort, so I'm hoping this will all be okay.....

Meryll - I don't see why having your rooms at POP would matter, because DVC stays count so why would just one Resort be excluded from the gaurantee?:teacher: I can understand it's not included as a room block resort, there alot of other funny rules with the room block, like Poly doesn't get the same 30% discount the other Deluxes get because it's so popular...
But from what I understand, any room booked on a Disney Resortc could be used toward your gaurantee...
I'll cross my fingers for you and hope it all works out for you!:wizard:

Did you get the Pop thing sorted?
We were sent an addendum to our contract, which basically had us confirm the dates we wanted to "reserve" rooms for, all of which were at Pop, so I'm guessing that means it was all okay for Pop. It also said provided we meet the guarantee number we can have a complimentary night at the resort of our choice.
We signed that and sent it back yesterday, and our planner already has our existing Virgin ressie numbers that already cover those room nights we've blocked and knows when and where we want our comp night, so I'll email her in a couple of weeks if I've heard nothing more to check we're all sorted and meeting our guarantee etc, and if we're booked in to the Poly! :woohoo:

Tanis called me last night and said that we could get the night but they've been told to say no to anyone who asks after May 1st as it's supposed to be a specific perk for Wishes weddings.
However, we're having a night at AKL :cool1: It's not the wedding night - apparently we're not allowed to do anything that night because Tanis, Rosie and my mum have been emailing and calling each other - I don't want to know anymore but it sounds really exciting!!
