UPDATED: Oct. 28 2010 :goodvibes - Epcot, LSS, DP. YAY!!! I can finally start my planning journal because as of yesterday, I'm officially engaged!!!! I say officially because for a while we've known we'd be getting married, specifically at Disney World, and have even picked the date: October 27th 2011.

Yes, it's very far away. But it's never too late to start planning right? I'm tempted to push it up but we picked 2011 for a few reasons. First of all, we're teachers. He's biology, and I'm biology and chemistry (and yes we are HUGE science nerds) and we just started this year. We figured by 2011, we'd have tenure and could take off for the wedding without a problem. But then we were hired for non-tenure track positions this year. So we won't have tenure by then, however we're science teachers so I doubt we'll face any severe repercussions for taking off time for our wedding. Second reason was that we both still live at home, and probably won't be able to move out until next summer (2010) and that would give us a year of living together and facing with all those stresses prior to the wedding. Not that I doubt we'll manage living together, I just figured it would be a good trial run. Plus it gives my parents time to save up for the wedding (they are traditionalists like that ) So 2011 it is...for now ;)

Anywhoo...About Us: I'm 24, and he's almost 25 (next week). As I said we're both teachers, giant dorks, and huge geeks. We love science, star wars, and each other hehe

How We Met:It all begins at Old Navy. He had been working there for a while, and I worked there during the summer 2004. He was not single, and I had just returned from a very traumatic first year of college (I even transferred to a new school afterward), so neither of us were available. I thought he was cute, but he was taken so I stayed away. I left when school started and only saw him again when I went to his Halloween party. I still barely even talked to him. Then a few years went by. I dealt with my issues, and he broke up with that girl. When I had worked there, I was friendly with one of his friends: Sheelagh, but we didn't stay in touch. (Now it gets confusing) My friend Rachel had worked at Old Navy too (which I didn't even realize) and she befriended Mike and Sheelagh as well. One day Sheelagh saw a picture of Rachel and me, and she recognized me. So Rachel invited me to hang out with Sheelagh and Mike. I immediately asked about Mike (I've always been a girl with boys on the brain) and Rachel thought he was dating someone. I was a little disappointed but I went anyway. Turns out, he was on the way out of a rocky, not so serious relationship, and we hit it off immediately...I also "encouraged" him to exit that relationship since it was sounded like a crap relationship and he deserved better...someone like me ;)

http://www.freeimagehosting.net/uploads/34d60e942f.jpg

It was very obvious that there was something there.

http://www.freeimagehosting.net/uploads/704c32326a.jpg

After they broke up (due to reasons unrelated to me) we started talking...well more like texting. We hung out a few more times in a large group, but nothing was really happening. We actually had our movie moment ruined. We had hung out all night, but the new friend he brought there, said he liked me, so Mike, being the gentleman he is, would not make a move. Finally when he walked out with his friend, he was given the OK, and he was planning on rushing back in, and sweeping me off my feet with a big ole kiss. His plans were crushed, when he came to the door and found me in the arms of our friend Jorge. Only he didn't realize, Jorge was consoling me because I was all upset Mike didn't make a move so he was giving me a hug. :headache: So no movie moment. He finally got up the nerves to ask me out and we went to TGIFridays, haha. And our first kiss came after a long conversion in the parking lot, haha. I was really nervous to become "official" because I knew Mike was the kind of guy you marry, and I had never been in a real relationship. My analogy: I had been starving for a long time, and along comes Mike, a big juicy steak, and I was nervous that it would be too much for my stomach to handle. But after the encouragement of my brother telling me, if I want steak, then I should eat the steak Idiot! So when he asked, I said yes, and we've been inseparable ever since. It's been 33 months (as of yesterday, hehe)

And here are some more recent pictures, where we actually almost look our ages:

The Proposal: I kind of thought he was going to do it on his birthday, next week. I'm taking him skydiving, and I always said that being proposed to on your birthday, was like "For your birthday, i'm giving you the honor of marrying you." But proposing to someone on your birthday was like "All I want for my birthday is your hand in marriage." But he really wanted to surprise me. He bought me tickets to see Wicked (my third time, his first) for Valentine's day. Which btw we were not even supposed to be exchanging presents. Anyway, he knew he'd be proposing to me then...I was clueless. He bought the ring, months ago (I had picked it out from Costco! ) and asked my father last week (DF [I can now saw DF!!!] is a traditionalist like that) I did not think DF would be doing it then. First off, I was planning what we were doing in NYC- the restaurant, where we'd go, and I didn't realize he'd be planning around me, and secondly DF hates the city, and gets super nervous so I didn't think he could handle a diamond ring in his pocket while being in NYC.

So anyway, I decided we should hang out around the theater district...Times Square, Rockefeller Center, Central Park etc... Well I was thinking of things to do and found out the skating rink was still open until this weekend and suggested that. Now I hadn't been skating in probably a decade but Mike likes hockey, as do I, so he can skate decently. So we got into the city, parked the car, and started walking towards Rockefeller center. We found the NBC building, walked around its shop and considered going on the tour, but Mike suggested we take the tour later...:rolleyes1 I said ok and went on a hunt for the lavatory. On the way we found the skating rink. So afterward we made our way back to the rink and went to buy tickets and rent skates. They had a lunchtime deal and there was 45 minutes left. (Skate for $5...not bad...rentals were $8) So we laced up our skates, and we both started getting nervous (for different reasons of course). Mike started getting out his IPOD, saying he made a mix of songs for us to listen to while we skated. I however was getting really nervous about skating and did NOT want to listen to the music, especially while sharing earphones. :sad2: Mike played it cool but tried to talk me into it, saying how he was just trying to be cute and how I should really just listen. My spidey sense started tingling but I still doubted that he'd do it. I asked for a few minutes to get my bearings on the ice and he agreed. I never did fall :yay: but I was definitely unsure. I finally agreed on the music, but the earphones did not fit very well and kept falling out so he insisted on me just listening while he controlled the tunes....Now my spidey sense was REALLY tingling but I still didn't believe it. He said he made a list of songs that reminded him of me :lovestruc and it started out with "Want you to want me" by Cheap Trick. He skipped around and we talked about the songs and I mentioned "1, 2, 3, 4" by the Plain White Ts and how much it made me think of him, and he had it on there and played it. Then the next song came on: "Grow old with you" from the Wedding Singer, and  Mike slowed down and brought us to a corner of the rink. I started tearing already. He got down on one knee, in skates no less, and almost fell, and asked, using my full name, if I could marry him. I had read enough PJs to know, answer answer answer. So I'm thinking: Try not to fall, Don't cry too much, and Answer as soon possible. I managed to say yes. We kissed...snotty nose and all, and continued skating. People applauded and congratulated us. We still had the rest of the day, and I walked around NYC with the biggest doopiest grin :cloud9::cloud9: And I still want to run around, screaming like a little girl.

And he finally get me permission to post here on the DIS about it, because he knows I've been lurking!

Thanks for the well wishes Leanne and Meghan!

So yesterday my mom and I wanted to hang out and go shopping, spend some good mother/daughter time together. So jokingly (well semi-jokingly) I suggested going to David's Bridal. She was all for it, and even talked me back into when I wussed out. We didn't even have a camera, so I had to take the pics with my camera phone! So here are some REALLY poor quality pictures. I think I may have found the dress, but I want all of your opinions!! :bride:

Dress one:

Dress two: It has a see-through back and was very pretty:

Dress four:

I have more but we're leaving to kite-flying, hehe. (I can't help but think of Heidi's Mary Poppins cake)

I'll post more later (My favorites are for the next round)

You and your DF make such a cute couple! :goodvibes

Haha, thanks Meghan. I was totally clueless. Yay! Hello other Sam (Or perhaps Sam #1) I always start reading your PJ, but then I go to my work computer and start reading in a different place, and then back to my home computer. I will get through it one of these days, I love what I've read so far! :surfweb: You guys make a cute couple as well. I love the shots from Disney, I'm so jealous.

Anyway...more dresses:

Dress five- it was gorgeous...but very heavy and a pain in the butt to lace up!
http://img7.imageshack.us/img7/1882/0416091307.jpg (http://img7.imageshack.us/my.php?image=0416091307.jpg)
http://img7.imageshack.us/img7/0416091307.jpg/1/w480.png (http://g.imageshack.us/img7/0416091307.jpg/1/)

Dress six- disregard the look on my face. I was really happy in it. Just a bad moment to take the pic

http://img382.imageshack.us/img382/6651/0416091333.jpg (http://img382.imageshack.us/my.php?image=0416091333.jpg)

Here's the back.

http://img10.imageshack.us/img10/5373/morestuff027.jpg (http://img10.imageshack.us/my.php?image=morestuff027.jpg)

Whoops forgot dress seven. It's a little too va-va-voom, but I thought I'd share:

http://img13.imageshack.us/img13/796/0416091312.jpg (http://img13.imageshack.us/my.php?image=0416091312.jpg)

And now...THE RING!

I had a really hard time getting one of the ring on my hand, but here's an unclear one, but just to get a size reference. And btw my hands are super small! My ring is a size 4.

http://img301.imageshack.us/img301/9218/morestuff012.jpg (http://img301.imageshack.us/my.php?image=morestuff012.jpg)
http://img301.imageshack.us/img301/morestuff012.jpg/1/w640.png (http://g.imageshack.us/img301/morestuff012.jpg/1/)

http://img12.imageshack.us/img12/2771/morestuff022.jpg (http://img12.imageshack.us/my.php?image=morestuff022.jpg)

And here's a picture of the ring I've loved for 5 years, but realized would be like a growth on my hand.

http://img206.imageshack.us/img206/9840/thering.jpg (http://img206.imageshack.us/my.php?image=thering.jpg)

My ring is perfect and when we tried it on, DF said it made me feel like his princess. :cloud9:

It's a .71 carat emerald cut, with 2 trillion cut diamonds on the side, in platinum. Total weight 1.04 carats...and it's perfect..and we got it from Costco, haha :cool1:

PS How can I update the title of my thread??

YAY!!! You're engaged. Congratulations! You two are an ADORABLE couple. You look great together.

I like dress 4 and dress 5. I like 5 the best it's more princessy, but you said it wasn't comfortable, so my second pick is 4.

Can't wait to read more! I'm hooked and will be following along!!!!

More details:

We really want to do an Epcot ceremony. We're an interfaith couple and not very religious, so I'm not so sure how we feel about the WP. We'd have to check it out. I think we want to do China or Japan. But after seeing Lurkyloo's pics I'm pushing for Morocco. Being bio teachers (and DF's love of marine science) we want to do the LSS. But after hearing about the photography issue, I think we could be open to other options. I like the idea of a brunch reception and then a dessert party. I also really want a MK shoot. That's my one bridezilla Put my foot down request. Df and I are thinking 50 people max, and we'll do a home reception for those unable to attend (due to $$ limits on my part and theirs).

For colors, we're thinking fall colors: chocolate browns and oranges, and the like. However I do have a soft spot for greens...

Such a cute proposal story. I also had no idea my DF would be proposing because I thought I had planned the day as well! Little did I know he had planed the evening activities long before I planed the daytime ones. I also liked how you mentioned your 'spidey' sense. I got that feeling when DF went back to the car for his jacket, although we did end up going back to the car agin for mine because it was chilly. I think the biggest reason I doubted he was going to do it then was because I had no idea he had gotten a ring. Oh and we both love the song from the wedding singer too. The movie was even on in the room at the hotel the night we got engaged and I stayed up late to finish watching it so I could hear the song!

Can't wait to hear all your plans popcorn::

Thank you Ashley. The back on dress 6 so lovely...and it was comfy as well (well for a dress). Haha thanks for the compliment on the title. DF has very little interest in the PJ. Besides the fact the dress pics are posted and he's NOT allowed to see them, haha. Your wedding is so soon!! You must be so excited. Mine seems like forever. I can't wait to post the details!! I also can't wait to read your PJ. I have much catching up to do! :surfweb:

Thank you Becky! I'm glad I'm not the only one. I had no idea DF had gotten the ring. I noticed it was missing at the store about a month back and he actually picked a fight with me to throw me off. He yelled (well not really) for looking for the ring, and that I wasn't being patient, and how I wouldn't get the ring at all, haha. He told me after the proposal, that he really needed to convince me he didn't get it. Isn't the song soo cute?! That's awesome that it was tv that night. Our song was on at David's Bridal when I walked into the store...but I think they do that on purpose...but it worked haha.

Awwww love your story! So cute :lovestruc

Thank you Gemma. And thank you for the good taste compliment...my mom helped as well. hehe. I was really lucky that most of the dresses I tried on looked nice on me...then again I'm working hard, training for the Dis marathon, to look good in those dresses! (well not why, but it's a benefit) I love my ring. It's so perfect and I'm glad I didn't get the big one. It looks perfect on my finger. I'm in love with it! (And I'm an uber-planner as well...thus the PJ so far in advance, hehe)

I'm so excited people are reading my PJ. I love reading other people's pjs.

Well in all honesty, I'm a little bummed that no one really is reading this, but at least this is a good place to organize my thoughts.

So we're thinking 50 people max. And right now we're VERY tempted to move the wedding up a year. I'm torn because I don't want to rush through the planning portion but it all seems to real now and I'm definitely anxious to start. But then again I'll only have this time ever to be engaged (or that's the plan)

Here are some florals and colors I like:

http://img144.imageshack.us/img144/newmangotangocollection.jpg/1/w640.png (http://g.imageshack.us/img144/newmangotangocollection.jpg/1/)

I love orchids and callie lilies, but I don't like roses. I just can't stand them for some reason. And I think I want silks because I'd need them for the wedding, the MK shoot, and the home reception.

I also like this cake. I like the argyle pattern on the second tier. DF and I are big argyle fans.

Here's a better picture of Dress 6. My mom hates the picture I posted and thinks that's why nobody voted for it. It really was very pretty.

Honestly, I'm the one person that did vote for dress six! I think it looks VERY flattering on your figure. :thumbsup2 Besides, it's very elegant with all the beading at the top and that beautiful back to it. It's lovely!

And, I just want to say that I super love your announcements!! Kitties are the best, ever. Your invites are very cute too. :lovestruc Everything you've got is just awesome so far! Rest assured, I will be following your updates!

Everything looks great. I was thinking about getting married in 2011 instead of 2010 so i would have longer to plan and everything but I decided 2010 and everything is going great Ill have plenty of time to get everything ready but I am having so much fun planning i dont want it to end.I am glad you like the flower site the people are super nice to work with and they can also custom make things. I chose silk for the same reason you did I need my flowers three differnt days and the silk are cheaper then real disney ones that I would use one day!! And not using the Disney flowers at lest for me who is trying to stay in the 12,000 minimum means I have to spend that money on something else like entertainment.

I LOVE that website Andreah! I'm so glad you found it (and saved me from doing the work, hehe) They look so much nicer than the silks I've seen. And I'm definitely trying to keep to the minimums. I'd rather spend the money on food or a dj or heck even Cindy's carriage!

Thank you much Anjanette! I think that dress is my favorite. It was comfy but beautiful and I didn't feel too exposed. I felt like a princess (but more like Snow White then Belle) And I found those a while ago. They are actually postcards by Stella Marrs. I got a pack of the kitty collection and I send them out as thank you cards, because i HATE thank you cards. So when I do write them, people see the random cards and get totally confused :rotfl:

Thank you meghan! And they are silks! I'm sure about the seashells but I love the colors...and I love that cake too. I stole it from someone on the boards but I can't remember who.

I agree with Anjanette, dress 6 all the way! I saw it the other day at David's Bridal and thought it was even more gorgeous in person! You will look amazing in it! Oh and I think Amanda (MainStMandy) is leaning towards dress 7 for her DFTW! It is a great choice as well! I like those 2 the best:goodvibes

You cat announcement cracks me up... so random (I happen to LOVE random, must be the whole "Sam" thing lol) I say do it!

You have a lot done for sure but from what I have learned on here is, as much as you have done, you always end up doing wayyy more because you get so inspired by other brides on here. I have "borowed" so many amazing creative ideas that I would never had been able to pull off on my own. So I say plan away! You are on top of things which is good, and it seems like you have a good idea of things you want and being decisive in the whole wedding process is a veryyyyy good thing. So Keep it up girl, I need your energy!:goodvibes

Isn't the dress just amazing in person? The pictures don't do it justice. And I think it's so funny that Amanda likes dress 7. But it looks WAY better on her. It's way to mature for me (I look like I'm 16, and that dress belongs an a real woman, haha)

It must be a Sam thing. I'm trying to post another random cat postcard but my stupid work computer won't do it, and my brother is on my personal computer. I'm sure I'll be doing so much more stuff, especially since I want to have a very personal ceremony so we need to put a lot of time into that as well. I'm normally a pretty decisive (read: opinionated) person, :goodvibes. I don't really like choosing things though, if it were up to me I'd always pick both! Haha.

Don't let my enthusiasm fool you, I'm exhausted. I can't wait until the summer when I no longer have to worry about lessons and lesson plans and students. Of course then I'll be on the job hunt, but I'm hoping to get a position at DF's school so we can be there together. Yes we're "that" couple haha.

Anyway, no more info on the wedding (can't post pics or ideas really...too tired). Although the more and more I think about it, I want 2010 instead of 2011. But we'll see. I probably won't be able to post tomorrow. It's DF's birthday, and we're going SKYDIVING! But I'll try to post sometime tomorrow or early Saturday, just to check in. Don't want anyone worrying that there was a parachute failure, haha.

So skydiving was awesome! I highly recommend it to anyone interested. I got the sample invitation and it looks really nice. Everyone thinks we should definitely do it, because I love Snow White and it IS a disney wedding. I really love the ones I've seen on the boards but I could always make a really awesome DIY one for the STD or perhaps use these as the home reception invitations. Who knows.

I got my first bridal magazine today. I have to check it out for ideas and Bm dresses. Anyone have any good BM dresses. We don't really want strapless or halter tops. Thanks!

I gotta go with Dress 3. When I was at David's Bridal with Amanda I saw that one on a mannequin and fell in love with it. It is even more amazing on. The shape is very flattering on you and I love the gathering of the fabric. That's my vote definitely!!:goodvibes

Well thank you Amanda, but it was a little too much ****ies for me, haha now I REALLY sound mature. :rotfl: I still get asked for my hall pass at work sometimes. I really like it, but it was too womanly for me. Plus I rarely show skin and am more of a shirt and jeans kinda of girl. It looked amazing on you though. It was meant for you!

Thank you!! It was truly wonderful, but it was really heavy. Plus a little cleavage-y. It was a really nice dress but not my favorite.

I loved dress 5, but I felt like everyone gets a dress like that. Plus the lacing would be a HUGE pain in the butt and I don't think I could sit down in it.

I think I'm going with dress 6 as of now. I had seen it online and fell in love with it. It has straps, which I initially wanted, and it's revealing but not too much. It felt princessy but more of jasmine or snow white, and less belle and cinderella.

I appreciate everyone's votes and I'd still love more! I'm impressed dress 4 got so many votes. It was really lovely but felt a little much like a nightgown. I wanted a poofy dress, but only slightly poofy, which dress 6 was.

And plus can't have 7, that's Amanda's dress.

Your engagement story is adorable!!

I have to vote for the number 6 dress, it is the most "princessy" as far as Disney is concerned, in my opinion anyway :) Plus the back looks awesome.

I love the flowers, I am doing orchids, roses, and calla lillies for my bouquet :thumbsup2. I am working on getting a PJ up myself (although for a non-disney wedding and disneymoon), but I will post some pictures once I get it up.

Congratulations!!! :woohoo:

That's awesome Sam. We didn't get pictures though...to get a video was an extra $80. :scared1: So DF said he didn't need one. We did get certificates though. It was SOOO awesome. DF went first and when I landed, he ran up to me, and picked me up and kiss me (wet snot and all...it was cold during freefall!!) I wish I got pictures but it was a lot of money. I'd rather spend it at Disney, hehe

Glad you like the flowers. I love orchids and lillies but for some reason I'm not a big rose fan. Congrats on the disneymoon though!

So everyday, I'm becoming more and more convinced I want to get married in 2010. I just need to talk to my parents but my mom's been crazy busy because my grandmother broke her ankle last week so we've been busy watching her, and arranging for a live-in and all that jazz. She's too busy to discuss it right now. But I've hinted...hehe :rolleyes1

Also I think I found a BM dress I like. Unfortunately I think I'm going to like a 100 BM (not really) but I have to have DF's sister (even though she already told me I won't be one of hers...she's not even engaged yet!), then my Man of Honor will be my brother, my sister in law, my brother's woman, my 2 cousins (because I can't pick one without creating a problem)...it's never ending!

Anyway, I can't post pics on this computer but here's a link. It's a dessy: http://www.dessy.com/dresses/bridesmaid/D417/

Thanks! I think the BM dress compliments dress 6. Similar lines, but not dominating. I don't want strapless or halter dresses. I originally wanted the girls in different dresses, but DF wants them all in the same...perhaps I can talk him into different colors though.

I'm thinking just moving it up a year to October 28th 2010. It's a thursday. DF and I are both teachers and the first weekend in November is Teacher's Convention...known as Jersey Week in WDW. Schools are closed that Thursday and Friday. So we want to get married BEFORE the convention, so we can just take off the Mon, Tues, Wed, and get a full week of honeymoon time. We'd probably have to take time off without pay, since we'd need prob the wed, thur, and fri of the wedding, but who cares

I totally understand how you feel about moving the date up and planning before you were even engaged! A fall wedding will be amazing. Especially at Epcot since that will be during the Food & Wine Festival. I was also an Epcot bride with a LSS reception; you'll love having pictures in the World Showcase :goodvibes For the dresses, I can't really decide. I went to 14 shops and tried over 100 before I picked mine, so I'm probably not the biggest help. If you aren't leaning towards one specifically I would keep looking evening trying out other shops. I voted for six- it looks great on you! Perfect for your frame. I actually have dress 5- in red! There are pics of it in page one of my PJ if you'd like to see it in red just to see. The BM dress is really cute. I love the idea of different dresses/colors, I would have done the same, but I'm only having a MOH. That dress would look really cute in the different deep colors you are thinking. To compromise with your DF you could find a dress with a waist sash and alternate those colors, but have the body of the dress be the same color.

Whoops almost miss ya! You posted perfectly! First off welcome to the boards!!! And I finally got a chance to talk to my mom (she brought it up, not me) and she said she thinks we can swing that. I'm nervous and anxious about the date. I don't want to build up my expectations too much (i have a tendency of doing that) and I get impatient...plus with price raises--weekday for premium season jumped up 150%! Plus having my grandmother (who I lovingly call Oma) fall...it made me nervous. She's 85. My Opa (grandfather) passed away last year and I want her there. That extra year may seem like a lot.

Congratulations on moving the date up!!! I also love the bridesmaid dressing they are such a cute length!!

Thank you so much; I know my wedding would not have been half as nice without all the help of Disney brides who gave me inspiration during my planning process too :goodvibes The snowglobes were a huge hit with our guests; everyone loved going around looking at the different tables. I actually stole the idea when we were down for our PS. We went on a site visit to Ariel's and they were setting up for a reception. The bride had used snowglobes and I thought it was a great idea! I still have like 5 of the snowglobes in my house and a couple more that are still in the boxes. Maybe I need to sell the ones that aren't on display on eBay and save the money towards our next Disney trip :rotfl:

Haha Cassie, I knew you'd like that one!! :thumbsup2 Very cool on the site visit, you'll have to take lots of pictures for me! hehe. LSS does seem really fun. We did the dive there last time (not full scuba, just floating on top) and we were just certified so we want to do the full dive. It was awesome. We could see the window with the piano and I totally pointed it out to Mike. He's love marine bio and that stuff, and works at an aquarium so its right up his alley. I love the drama!! Why thank you Stephie. I really like all the dresses. And I talked with the bank (aka my mom) and she ok'd 2010! And our districts are now getting the whole first week off in November so we'll only be skipping days the week of the wedding, not the honeymoon. I don't want to do it during teacher's convention because it's relatively crowded. I'm a little nervous about Halloween crowds, but we'd love to do Mickey's NSSHP one of the nights (just not before the wedding...don't want to get bloated on candy!) Hey maybe I can go as a bride...:bride: hehe. DF LOVES Halloween so he's excited. I'm sure he'd love to get married then. I'm excited about the decorations.

Well you know if you want to sell them, I'd love to take a look. I think I want to use them as favors additionally, so I want to buy ones I think my guests would like...Toy Story for my Nephew, A sorcerer Mickey for my mom, Eeyore for FMIL. etc...This way I don't have a ton of them. I REALLY want to buy the festival of Bacchus snowglobe on Disney Outlets. The Dis brides, including you, are definitely so helpful. I'm excited because a lot of us are going to be there during marathon weekend so we'll have to arrange a meet. You ladies are the best!!

Not many updates for now besides the OK on the date (BEST UPDATE OF ALL!) I'll try to post some pic ideas later. Anyone know of any good places (besides Etsy) to get customized garters? I want to totally geek mine out...I'm currently looking for microscope or DNA charms, haha. Mike would LOVE that.

Yay for getting the date okayed!! I love your ideas for the garter! I'm a major science nerd too!

Hhaha I'd love to get a ribbon with the DNA double helix and have that on there...it would be so awesome. Hooray for science geeks!! I have these funky microscope earrings, and a bracelet of amino acids. I'm a big biochem and evo/genetics geek. What about you?

Yay for 2010!!!

I am very excited Amanda! FMIL wasn't so thrilled, even though she was the one pushing it in the first place. I had pointed it, it would be FSIL first year teacher and how they'd frown her taking off, when I was arguing for 2011...well I argued a little too well. Plus money may be tight since they are helping out their princess: for her SIXTH year of college..to become a gym teacher! Forbid she'd get more loans...I'm not bitter. It's not like they didn't help DF, and make him pay his own way...and all his expenses...:sad2:

Sorry I'm in a pissy mood. This morning I was told by my supervisor there was not the position here next year...even though the woman is taking another year maternity leave because they needed a physics position more. But they are hiring a new earth science as well, because she hates my mentor, who is a chem teacher who wants to teach earth science so I'm not getting her job. But anyway, I'm ok with the physics since there's been a sub here forever who wants to teach physics...but they want her certified in chem....and I helped her study. And two seconds later I'm informed the higher ups don't appreciate rebuttals to observations, that they just want you to smile and say thank you and take the criticism. Which I did not do since my mentor (who she hates), as well as the union prez and the rep told me I had every right to rebut statements made...like expecting my students to look in a book at an example was unrealistic (I have a low track but NOT resource) and she told me I should treat these 16 yo as kindergartners because they were stupid. I stated I have high expectations and students will rise to the standards you set for them. Even though earlier my supervisor told me she did not want me looking elsewhere, that they wanted me. And our budget passed. Whatever...I'm not bitter...or angry...or cranky because I'm being shafted for supporting my students and not my supervisor.

END of RANT. :mad::mad::mad:

Thank you!! I loved 6. Wow, I can't imagine dress 5 in red...so dramatic! Did you get it from Davids Bridals? Dress 5 was on sale when I tried it on...but all that lace! It was so beautiful, but just too much for me. I do love it though. It will be my #2. I'm looking forward to reading your VR!

Well, first, congrats on your date! :goodvibes And sorry about your work stress:(

And, in response to your question, yes, it's from DB. It was on sale then too (I bought it this winter), it was in red, white, and an off white shade (not sure what they called it, ivory or cream or something?). Anyway, there aren't many in the red, it was the only one and it was in my size, so felt like fate! I REALLY wanted a red dress for the VR, too:) I've not seen any like it anywhere, which is really odd considering it's from DB, but I've honestly not seen one anywhere, and I've searched all over the internet. It's easy to see on the pj, just go to page one and scroll down on the first post, no hard searching:) It's a different look than white, ofcourse, in the red, but might give you an idea of how the dress looks with a double slip (I am wearing two for a bigger 'poof') and you can see it from a few different angles, I've got maybe three or four pictures of it. Hope it helps you with ideas! :)

Sorry to hear about work...that stinks! I'm sure things will turn out okay though. Just think happy thoughts :)

I majored in forensic science, but have become more drawn to the molecular/genetics area. No jobs in this area for forensic scientists though, so I'm actually looking into teaching.

Aw thank you. I'm not worried about getting a job for next year, and I really didn't want to be there anyway. I'm just upset that I was doing what my mentor told me to do and got punished for it. Oh well. I'm hoping to get a position at DF's school next year so hopefully everything will work out.

Victoria, Your VR sounds awesome! And that dress is amazing. It really is a lovely dress, in both red and white, but the lacing and I really don't want the poofy slips, so not for me. But I love the red!! And thank you! DB is a pretty nice place, considering, and fairly priced

Thank you. I'm sure they will but it's pretty stinky. If you go into teaching, it definitely can be rewarding. But keep your head down until you have tenure! Don't listen to anyone!

Thanks Amanda. It really does stink because I was defending my students. My supervisor teaches the subject as well, and she's called them stupid. They are not stupid...some of them have learning disabilities and the other ones are not motivated, but they are NOT stupid. Even my students are like, we're dumb, and then they say how they don't study and I'm like maybe that's why you get low test scores!! :teacher: But I really try to emphasize just trying, and doing the homework, and paying attention instead of testing. It's a smaller % of their grades, because honestly they are not going to become chemists and I know that, and I'd rather have them become productive, responsible individuals so they CAN succeed at whatever career path they choose.

And thanks for the  on the family drama. It's not really drama, just always there. Mike is the middle child and is definitely treated as such. So I try to make him feel as special and  as possible. And he said we're not allowed to have more than 2 kids, haha. :rotfl:

In addition to planning all the joy of a wishes reception and everything, we're also planning a ceremony as well. Df and I were raised different religions, and neither of us are particularly religious so we don't really want a traditional ceremony.

My brother also married interfaith, and they planned their whole ceremony and it was beautiful. Everyone was crying and it was wonderful...the reception was crap but they put all their effort into the ceremony, which I think is very important as well. I was raised Jewish and I do want some traditional things like a chuppah (with our siblings holding up the posts- we each have 2) and I want to get custom yarmuckles but only for the fun of it. I really want our mothers to run the ceremony, and only the "official" officiant say the part they have to say in order for it to be legal. I had originally wanted our moms to do the thing and have the legal part be done by a justice of the peace, but I don't want to be "official" before or after our Dis wedding. I want it to be official during. So since our mothers can be officiated for the day, this is the plan. (I'm totally stealing this idea from my brother, my mom and SIL's father ran the ceremony, because her father could be officiated in Mass)

My brother has offered to help out, but I want to make sure the Jewish undertones don't take over, but I really don't want any Jesus reference because it makes me uncomfortable. DF and his family only to church on Christmas Eve so they aren't very religious at all either. Df and I are both kinda agnostic so I don't really want a lot of reference to the guy (or whoever) upstairs either. (Although for some reason I'm totally ok with it in Hebrew...:confused3) Anyway, in Judaism during a wedding there are 7 wedding blessings so I want to incorporate something like that, one Jewish, one Irish (he's irish), A native american (he's partial...just barely), and I'm trying to think of others but its difficult to keep them non-denominational and without you know who. Any ideas? I was thinking whichever country we get married in Epcot in to incorporate a tradition from there perhaps.

I really want to put as much effort into the ceremony as I do into the reception, the dress, the flowers, etc... We want to write our own voes, and be creative. I like the sand, candles, wine ceremonies but I'm not sure. I love the hourglass idea (or being super geeks we could use Erlenmeyer flasks and beakers :rotfl: ) for the sand. I'm trying to gather lots of ideas. I want it to be memorable.

For after the reception, we'll have most of the afternoon. So I figure I'll wear a casual white dress. My mom's wedding dress to my father (her second marriage) was sort of casual and had a mexican flair. She thought it would be perfect and I'd love the specialness of wearing that dress. We'd have to alter it to fit me, and perhaps we could shorten it so I can wear it around disney.

Still trying to think of colors and catch up on other people's PJs...and avoiding writing lesson plans. :3dglasses

Good for u planning a nice ceremony. I am not a religious person either so I am trying to find different ideas as well. One thing i came across was instead of having the sand ceremony the couple planted a tree in a pot and will later plant it at their home. They both added dirt and water like you would the sand and added the seed for the tree. I thought it was a cool idea and then you can watch the tree grow over many years. I am an environmental educator so i really like trees lol so maybe this is not appealing for ever one but its an idea.

Thanks Ann. That sounds really awesome and up our alley (both bio teachers!) I googled it, I'm trying to find a cool ceremony.

So after reading Carye's PJ and seeing that pin, I totally want to order a large amount of pins of ebay and stick them into the welcome bags with info on pin trading. Kind of a starter kit (well 1 per person). I thought pin trading was so awesome last year and I'd buy new ones if I saw a CM with a snow white one so I could trade, haha.

Also I thought I'd post some wedding ring ideas. I found these a while back and I really like the design but they are $$ because they are from this hippy dippy :hippie: earth friendly site with recycled gold and fair trade diamonds. The rings are platinum, like my e-ring, and one has the design all the way, and one only on the front.

I agree about the stones in the front only. My fingers are narrow and my hands are small so I think the stones would irritate me. How much should wedding rings cost anyway??? :confused3 I agree about the spending more money on organic and fair trade and the like.

Thanks Sam!! I love the look of those rings. My mom always wore her rings separate. I never even realized you could wear them together so I'm not really fond of that idea. I want a ring that can stand alone...plus I don't think I could even find one that would go with the e-ring.

I had a REALLY bad day today. More work drama. i'm a pawn in their game and I can't wait until this school year is over!! So to make me feel better I'm watching Bride Wars with my mom (haha taking notes) And I make a mock-up of the "pin trading starter kit"

Hey Sam!

Haven't been on here in a while because we've been moving for the past week so I am trying to catch up on PJ's! (instead of working on my final project for school that is due next week...:rotfl:)

I'm sorry to hear about all of the work drama. I think that sometimes people want to make it difficult to enjoy your job. I sometimes feel that way about my boss and other co-workers but then you just have to get over it...

I love what you are doing with creating your ceremony. Me and DF are trying to figure out all of that and it seems a little difficult. It's just hard to fit everything in that YOU want without offending anyone else.

I love the rings! I think they are beautiful and very girly! I would probably go with the one that is half way around because I told DF, no one ever really sees the inside of your hand.... Unless your hitting them or something and then it that case do you really care what they think about your ring? :rotfl2:

Haha Ashley, it's alright. Congrats on moving! I'm on the boards all the time instead of prepping for my classes although I'm prepping lessons instead of papers. I'm having difficulty finding ideas for a ceremony. I'm not worried about offending others...we're having a small wedding and as long as I include FMIL and FSIL I'm good. Good point about the stones on the side of the ring. However I'm more of a headbutt/punch than a slap kind of a girl. :headache:

Sorry about not checking in the past day or so...and being behind on everyone's PJ. I've been sooo exhausted. I hate this week. I'm glad it's over. Yesterday was lot better...yay it was Friday!!! And on Thursday I did something big to cheer myself up...I called Disney Weddings!!!!!!!!!

I called at 3:45 gave my basic info and 20 minutes later I received a call for our consultant: Pam Pearce!! She was so nice, and so was the woman at Disney weddings. We discussed what I wanted and the like. I talked with her, she had some great ideas. I told her about the Epcot countries: Morocco, Japan, and China. She told me there were multiple places to get married at each country. In Morocco, there is the pavillion and the fountain, in China, there is the rotounda and outdoors and in Japan there is both the pavillion/gardens or you can actually use the archway, with the globe behind you as the backdrop. I thought that last one was pretty nifty! I have to pick one out by October 28th. Does anyone have some good pics of those places??

And I got that awesome email with sample menus, bar menus, the std cards, the photo brochure and the big wishes package info packet. Yay!!! :yay: AND I'm so excited to find out in 2010, they are no longer doing the silly season thing, and ALL monday through thursday weddings have a $12,000 mins. And friday and sunday weddings have $15,000 mins. So it makes a Friday wedding possible. But I'd still rather have a thursday...more honeymoon.

And I bought Carries passporter book.

And i went for a run yesterday...and today saw Star Trek.

Except I'm having a massive allergy reaction to these stupid bushes because I slept over DF's yesterday. We're trying to figure out a way to kill these bushes secretly and safely for the environment.

So sorry about the work drama but YAY for being 2010 bride!!!! Oh and love the ring... I vote for stones just part way around... I think it would be more comfortable. Can't wait to read more!popcorn::

Thank you Adelia!! We are one of those annoying couples haha. Super science geeks. Thank you...I love that bouquet as well. Still unsure of colors but I love those flowers. And thank you about the dresses. It was so much fun. And I agree about the flasks. We're total nerves. I agree about the ring, but FSIL made a good point that rings twist around. DF wants a tungsten ring I think (super cheap, yay!)

yay for 2010!!!!!:banana::banana: Congrats!
I know Sam! I'm so happy.:yay:

Hooray for calling Disney and getting more info! How exciting!! :goodvibes

Thanks Anjanette. It was awesome.

All those dresses are great.

Our consultant is also Pam. We're also planning an Epcot ceremony. We are seriously considering Japan's Arch.

Can't wait to hear more about your plans.

Awesome that we share Pam. The japanese arch seams really interesting. Too many ideas. Where's your PJ. I'd love to read about your plans.

So I'm on my school laptop and it won't let me upload pictures so I'll just post links for now. I wasn't feeling well today so I called out...and surfed the web for wedding stuff! :cool1:

Here are some more bridesmaid dresses I found:

http://www.dessy.com/dresses/bridesmaid/2750/?color=tangerine&colorid=496

and

http://www.dessy.com/dresses/bridesmaid/6552/?color=oasis&colorid=995#catid=1&colorlist=995,109&displaytype=GridMedium&activePage=4&rpp=9&SortOrder=Default

And one of these platters instead of a guest book. I liked the idea of the vase, but I never buy cut flowers so this would be used more!

http://www.tybinc.com/cid-106-1/wedding_guestbook_platter.html

I was thinking of getting one customized with Mike and I wearing lab coats and holding sciencey things!

Still unsure about colors: Fall colors (brown, orange, red, greens etc...), Purple-red with champange, Eggplant purple with greens, or Blues with teals and taupe. Too many choices!!!

Hope you feel better soon Sam! Being sick is never fun, but at least it's a good excuse to browse for wedding stuff! Lol! I know I take any excuse I can get!

The second BM dress is really cute! I think it'd look nice on a lot of different figured ladies too! And hmm... all those colors sound nice! Of course, I'm going to say eggplant purple with greens or purple-red with champagne. I'm biased though! Purple anything draws my attention. :rotfl:

That platter idea is adorable!!

I agree, I like the second one, it's really cute.

The plate idea is awesome, I love the lab coat idea. I'm doing a guest book frame, where everyone signs the matting and you put a wedding picture in it after the wedding, more practical than a book.

I always love earthy tones for fall weddings, I'm bias for red, but blues, teal, and taupe would look really pretty together.

Does anyone have some good pics of those places??

I have some shots of my bridal party in front of the arch and I have some pictures of DH and I on the bridge in Japan. Let me know if you want me to post them here or just give the link :goodvibes I don't want to hijack with shots from my wedding, lol.

I didn't even realize that was a completely different font. I saw your link and thought it was the Waltograph font like I have used on a lot of stuff. Now I will have to download that one too, thanks for the tip :thumbsup2

Purple is a very lovely color. I don't really wear it, but I keep going back to it. Plus it goes very well with green. I need a dress that goes from teeny to larger since that's the way my BMs are! It's very difficult!

Hope you are feeling better

I like the signing matte, but I love cooking so I thought the platter would be useful! I love earthy tones as well but looking at pics of the LSS it's very vibrant and I want everything to meld together. It have a very orangey-brown wood tone (at least in pics) and I want everyone to pop and not fade into the background. That's why I thinking more green and purple earth tones instead. But the blues and teals really work well with the space. Plus we like those colors too.

so i finally caught up......congrats on 2010!!!! such a good year ( so what if im a tiny bit bias) i think having the EPCOT ball as a back drop would be awesome, but then again all of the countries you are looking at are beautiful so you cant really go wrong

im definately going with the 2nd BM dress. for some reason it just catches my eye ( i happened to have them both opened on my dual screens at work and i was drawn to that one) although both are good, i like the tea length dresses, i think they look so classy and are so comfortable for the girls wearing them

Yay for 2010 brides Meghan! I love tea length. I'm going to have some range in ages so I'd prefer them to all feel comfortable. Plus I think the knee length is a little too "girly" :confused3 Like less mature. I emailed my WC about getting pictures of the countries because it's so hard to decide!

That's Sam. That's the same way I feel. I'll probably go with something more like #2, but I'd prefer to wear #1 personally.

Thanks Tammy! So far, Pam has been really nice. I'm excited to really start planning.

Thanks for the pictures Vanessa! They are lovely. It's an interesting backdrop. Did you take those after the wedding?

So anyway, sorry about the delay. I've had a REALLY bad week at work. The students are SOOOOO snotty. They have no concept of self control or responsibility. They are constantly whining! And so rude. They have no concept of being a decent human being. Geez. I've also gotten bad allergies and been sick. But the Dis does totally cheer me up.

So I'm playing around with the colors from the dessy website but it won't let me get pictures of the different colors. It's totally frustrating. So I'll just post the colors:

For the blue-green look: Oasis, Sapphire, Meadow accents and Taupe.

Eggplant and green: aubergine, moss, and kiwi, smashing and palimino. EDIT: Instead of moss and kiwi, clover and mint

Fall colors: Burgundy, buttercup, butterscotch, latte and apple slice.

Who knows.

Possible shoe choices:

I'm also getting really nervous about pictures. Everyone here loves randy, and roots, and misty. And I really want them. But our wedding ideas are all IN park so that means we need disney photographers. And everything I've seen, besides MK shoots, are well...boring. Did you check out the link (the 3rd one)? That's my favorite but the last one is awesome as well. I really love them but DF still likes the Snow White ones. I'm hoping we can use those for the at home and the orchid ones for the Disney. This way our at home still as a disney feeling.

I didn't see the link for the 3rd one, but just checked it now, that one would be easier to re-create and still lovely. The purple with a green flower would look pretty. I think they are a little pricey, but that's just me, I'm making my own and it's going to cost me about 2.20 an invite and that's for everything, the invite, RSVP card, and a "Pick your song" card, oh and envelopes, but I only need 25 invitations. I'll post them on my PJ soon, I am ordering the paper tonight. Plus, I should also add, that I did want nice invitations, but they are not a top priority for me so I did not want to spend over $50 for them and it depends on your budget.

Maybe you can combine the orchids and snow white to have both? That may be difficult, but not impossible. But at least you can always do one for the at home and one for disney.

I would be between the third and last one, you could always make your own stamps and have snow white stamps with orchid invites. Or do the orchid invites with snow white RSVP cards.

I only need like 25 invites as well. If I bought them it'd be like $125...not too bad. I like the idea of combining them or using one for the Disney wedding and the other for the home. I like the snow white ones but after being on these boards I want to be CRAFTY!!!! :confused3

love the invites Sam! I agree the 2nd and 3rd are my faves too! I have never seen anything like that before, so pretty and interesting (I like things that are very visually appealing:goodvibes). Awesome choices!

Thanks Sam. I thought they were so unique! I love them. :lovestruc I like being visually appealed to, as well hehe

I love all the different invitations, I don't think I can pick just one favorite, that's a great website that you found.

DPS was talking about putting together a website with the differnt photographer's work samples on it. That might help if you can compare their work.

Thanks Vanessa. I just came across it, but the website is really great for being who want to be hands on, but I'm not super crafty (ps I'm going to try to make a quilt this summer :scared1:)

I'd love the see that site. I'm so upset about that silly new rule! I REALLY want amazing pics but DF has his heart set on Epcot and LSS (and so do I) and it's the only thing he really wants...

BTW I found a veil and a possible hairstyle I LOVE!!

Thanks Anjanette, I sometimes wear my wear similar to that so I think it would work.

Thanks Mandy! I love the veil...but it's so much money.

So drumroll please...what DF wants to wear:

So Mike, my DF, wants to look very dashing and to stand out. He looked (online :surfweb:) at a lot of them and he likes the morning tuxedo...similar to Heidi's (tiggerifficheidi) husband Tom wore at their Wishes wedding

However...he's very tempted with getting something MORE different. We've always love the outfits worn in Enchanted (the ball scene) and Stardust, and have toyed with the idea of him wearing something similar.

It's really hard finding a picture of the Enchanted outfit, but you all know what I'm talking about. (This is the one I like so much better...plus it's in our colors)

It's really difficult to find, and he's put bids on Etsy, and received some takers. It shouldn't be too expensive. The thing is, it's either going to really awesome and unique, or really lame...:confused3 I can't figure out which. We're thinking of having it made, and worse comes to worse he can wear it to Mickey's Halloween Party, or another costume. What do you ladies think?

PS Here is another pair of shoes I found:

Haha, thanks Sam. I'd love to have a few hidden mickeys...like 2 small flowers and one large in my hair, or with the pearls. I like Mickey pomanders but nobody else is sold on the idea, and I've never seen any in action.

I love that word: enchanted-y. I make my own words all the time, :thumbsup2 I'm really nervous about it. I think it may look awesome...but it may look super dorky. I can't figure out which. But at least I know someone who likes the idea, so thank you. DF really wants to stand out and he's really good about leaving me to make the rest of the decisions (as long as he's in the loop, I get to be the decider). So if this is one of the only things he's asking for, I'm having a hard time denying him. We figure we can get someone on etsy to make it up, and if it's horribly dorky, it's his halloween costume. It's only money right?:cool2::upsidedow

And now onto the officiants. We want to be married by our mothers. We're of different religions, and not really very devout to begin with. We wanted something personal and special. I had read online here about the Universal Life Church that can allows individuals to become ordained ministers online, for free...seams a little sketchy to me so I'd love hear some stories and accounts from people on the Dis who have done this.

And now for something completely different: My future sister in law's boyfriend is the videographer for Jim Breuer (a comedian, popular in the 1990s), and Jim is an ordained minister, and now we are jokingly toying with the idea, he does the "I do's." I'm pretty sure right now it's a joke, but if DF really wants it, I'd be down for it. It would be pretty silly, but unique to say the least...

That's exactly what I thinking Vanessa. I'd have to find a cheap princessy dress though (or would they let me go in my wedding dress...hey it is a costume! ;) I like the silver shoes too! The dress is a light off white so matching may be a pain. I just hope they are comfy. I'm on my feet all day (as a teacher) so I care much more for comfort than look, but it's always nice to find both.

Dress shopping tomorrow!! This time will be "official" so we'll take better shots. My mom and I taking FMIL with us (she really wants to come)...even though I have my mind set on one already. I'll post the big reveal this weekend because...

I have a confession to make. I already picked the dress, because I already bought the dress!!! And it came in! I picked it up yesterday and it's hiding in my basement. :rotfl: Very few people know we bought the dress, because my mom and I actually bought it when we were still planning the wedding in 2011 :cool1: Good thing we moved up the date! :thumbsup2 Now just need to pick flowers, hair, hair piece, veil, jewelry, shoes, DF's outfit, invites, sign our contract....hahah The list is never ending!

Yesterday I got an email from theknot.com announcing it was only 17 months to go!! So now it's less than that! Yay.

And I got a job!! I still have more interviews to go on, but i was hired in the same district I am now, but at a different school for fulltime, tenure track Lab Chemistry. It's not the district I really want to be in, but it pays the most! ;) So that's better than being in a district I don't really want to be in and making less. The school seems a lot better than the one I'm currently in and the administration seems much better. So I'm pretty happy!! :cool1:

Very sneaky about the dress, but yea for having it :cool1: I can't wait to see pictures.

Also with the veil, try ebay, or etsy and I know that Joann's and Michael's have basic veils that you could just add beads too. I'm sure AC Moore (I miss AC Moore) has them too, if you feel like being crafty. I even explored making my own, but I'm not wearing a veil now, so it's irrelevant.

Congrats on the job!!

Haha Laurie, it wasn't so much stealth as it was shame. My mom's all ready for the pictures. I know I could find cheaper veils but I'm nervous about quality of the fabric...I don't know. I've always had expensive tastes, haha. Give me 2 things in a blind test and I'll pick the more expensive one. Always! :confused3 I'm definitely checking it out. And those invites are amazing. DF still wants the snow white ones, but I'd rather use them at home, and use these absolute gorgeous ones. Please go ahead and use them. I think the site is fabulous! Dress shopping round 2:

So I had arranged on Thursday that I would go back to Davids Bridals and act like I've never been there. Well I show up at my appointment, and the lady says: Oh so you've already come in and actually picked up my dress. :scared1: I respond like I have no idea what you are talking about. I've never been here. She looks at my file and says some of my info (luckily I had given them the wrong date at the time so that worked in my advantage) I played dumb stating how I went there once to pick and shoes and that must be why its in the system. But I was mad. So I pretended to fill out new paperwork and my mom and FMIL went to look around. Once they were away, I talked to a clerk stating the original plan and they apologized, but my sale lady wasn't there yet (she was the one I had been with originally) so we looked around. When the woman arrived, I scoped her out and reminded her of the plan and informed her we were still looking for an at home reception desk since I felt bad about the waste of her time, as well as BM dresses.

FMIL and mom had picked out some dresses for me to try on and I got a dressing room...and the sales woman handed me a bustier (which I didn't use) and a crinnie (which she didn't do last time)...boy those are a pain! But I love the idea of a dyed crinoline. It always looks so cool in the pictures!

Dress #1: Very beautiful but HEAVY!!! I like it, but I don't love it.

http://img194.imageshack.us/img194/morestuff038.jpg/1/w480.png (http://g.imageshack.us/img194/morestuff038.jpg/1/)

Did you guess correctly? This dress unfortunately was a smaller size than what I ordered so it's a little tight. The woman said I should wear it with a small crinnie but didn't give me one so I'll have to check that one. A small bustle would need to be added and the straps adjusted, plus **** cups. Haha. But I love it. It's me. It's pretty but not overly girly.

And for effect, mom and FMIL wanted me to try on a Cinderella dress.

(Classic Sam face)
It was GORGEOUS! :headache: But it really didn't fit my personality, nor the theme of the wedding. It was dressier and more formal, and I feel like I'd need to have the carriage, and wedding pavillion and major domo, instead of our epcot/LSS affair. I know you ladies would tell me that I should wear what I want, but it just wasn't right. Plus it was heavy. and I already got the other dress. I really love it. But I like the way the veil is with this dress. Definitely downward and not plopped on the top of my head.

yay you found it! (Oh and you tried on my dress lol, the "nightgowny" one is the one I chose:goodvibes)

I thought that dress looked familiar. Yours is a lovely dress. It didn't get a fair chance because they gave it to me in a size too big. But then again I don't want to be a copycat, hehe.

I love the dress too :goodvibes I know what you mean about the princess dresses they are beautiful - but don't fit in with my day or are not very "me" I love looking at them though :lovestruc

I totally agree Gemma. I'd feel weird all day. I probably still will since I'm a tee, hoodie and jeans kind of girl. I actually always wear shorts with dress, hehe. I wonder if I'll do that for my wedding dress. :rotfl:

I love your dress!! The detailing on the neckline is beautiful! :lovestruc

Bob xoxoxo

Thank you, too bad you can't see the back. (You can in the first dress post), it's very detailed.

ooooh you know what im gonna say about the princessy dress!!!! (how much was that one btw?) I loveee any princess dress - and it does suit you - you look so pretty in it!

but your dress is lovely, its really elegant and you have a nice slim figure which makes the dress look beautiful on you. so yayyy!

I knew you'd love it Stacey! :lmao: It was $1100, probably with at least $100 off. It was pretty, but I'm not princess. I'm foul mouthed, and dirty minded. Def a tom boy. :thumbsup2 I probably will wear a tiara though! Although I do love flowers in the hair. I'll leave big poofy princess gowns to you!
But thanks for the slim figure comment. Makes me feel like all this hard work is worth it...90 minutes of Yoga X whooped my butt today. Plus I really love fruits and veggies (I'm a weirdo :confused3)

Beautiful dress!! Yay on finding it! It fits your figure perfectly! :goodvibes

Thanks :flower3:

And thank you everyone. Sorry I didn't individually comment to everyone the first round. End of the year busy-ness with preparing review sheets and getting grades in order. Plus these workouts :scared1: Anybody try P90X? It's crazy intense. Plus I'm trying to add the running, since DF and I signed up the Dis marathon in January (We're crazy :upsidedow) Which btw I'm not a big runner so I don't know what I was thinking....oh wait  I did it for another trip to Disney, haha.:yay: I don't think we'll be able to do the planning session yet so we'll have to go again next summer, so that will be 3 trips in 2010. :dance3:

I get 2 (April and Dec) so was thinking I was pretty lucky but I guess you trump me:rotfl: I was talking with another nurse I work with last night and she is doing P90X and loves it- it sounds pretty intense. I almost think 3 trips is excessive...almost. We had already planned the marathon and paid for it, so we can't back out now, so 3 trips it is! We were down for the 2007 and 2008, not realizing it, and felt bad how all these people could do it, and that we didn't. So we decided to give ourselves time to train and signed up for the 2010. I'm excited!

Oh Adelia, it is crazy intense but fun and not too bad. I'm doing the "Lean" version, because more of those women are jacked!!! I was just toning so I'm not doing the classic version. If you have a partner, I bet it would be easier! I'll definitely keep you up to date on the progress...only one week down.

Ugh DF and I have a really hard choice deciding who can do the Enchanted costume. We got a lot of great bids so I'm excited. And I think we want a custom cake topper with us as Fry and Leela from Futurama, with little candy hearts saying: U leave me breathless. It's from one episode and it's probably our favorite show. But we also really like us as Rogue and Gambit from X-men. (BTW if you didn't know already, we are super dorks)

I am a pretty big tomboy: dirty jokes, bathroom humor, Love of star wars haha. I haven't tried the flowers yet. I really like the hair do from the veil I like (I think from pg. 8 :confused3 ) Still got plenty of time to decide.

Exercise is definitely the way to go, and the endorphines are nice :lovestruc

And Yes I LOVE my veggies, it is quite weird: peas, carrots, peppers, salad, brussel sprouts, asparagus, any time of beans. I really love all veggies. I don't quite understand it.

(But I love crisps too! (Those are french fries right? :confused3 Although I tend to bake them)) I actually LOVE :lovestruc carbs: breads, pastas, sweets. I just try to find lighter alternatives.

So I found a new hair website, when checking out the wedding board (the short hair thread) and found some hairstyles I liked. I guess I'll number them 1,2,3 on the top, and 4,5,6 on the bottom. I think #6 would go well with the front hair style from the veil picture.

Haha Stacey, I think we have polar opposite taste! Number 2 is my favorite and number 5 is my least! :lmao: Although I really like #3 and 6 is definitely a good possibility, especially with the front shown in the veil shot. I find it funny, none of them are shown with tiaras...maybe I'll just do the flowers or barrettes. who knows?? Things are crazy busy right now with it being the end of the school year, preparing for finals, looking for positions for next year. Uh, it's exhausting. And p90x is whooping my butt! I think the BM dresses are all great as they could wear them again, I think the 3rd one you posted is my fav. I think with DPS you'll have to be really specific about what shots you want. Oh I totally do. Most of the projects should be done by today, but I doubt we'll finish. So that means one less to review but I don't think they really care. And thanks! We really got into it because it's not too bad a job, pay is ok, and the hours are great, but it is definitely rewarding. But it makes me worry about having autistic children. It can be very hard depending on the severity.

I am working with the lady for a custom flower order, she does "real touch" flowers, not just silk ones http://www.sharonnagassardesigns.com/index.html She has samples on her website. I'll share my samples when I get them. Her prices are not bad either.

You could do just a wine and beer bar, or if they would let you do mimosa's you could do tangerine, grapefruit, and orange juice. My FSIL did beer, wine, a alcoholic and non-alcoholic punch at her wedding.

Yea for a second job offer!

Don't worry, I know that you'll be able to dramatically cut it down from the 25K. With our brunch reception at LS, 50 guests, transportation, dessert party, cake, flowers, etc. we spent 12K including tax and gratuity, so I know it is possible depending on the guest count. Keep in mind, we had outside videography and photography and the minimum was 10K at the time plus tax and gratuity and we didn't have alcohol - just sparkling cider for a toast.

I'm so excited to see your snowglobe centerpieces. Did you see that Disney shopping had a ton of them in their summer sale?

Wow Laurie, that site is awesome! I had seen one from someone else's pj (mandy?? sorry I forget) but I'm adding it to the list. I figure beer and wine is a good call since that's probably what would be drank. I think my mom mentioned something at the dessert party...but it is her money. Who knows.

Vanessa, I love your snowglobes! I want to buy ones that represent the people sitting at the tables. And I was thinking of arranging them on a mirror tile (like in Carly's PJ) with some tealights and diamond confetti. I want something simple and short. I hate tall centerpieces. I haven't bought any yet but I want to.

I submitted a request for a custom quote last week, last Sunday to be exact. I'm still waiting for my quote, but I am hoping to order samples once I receive the quote.

I think the earlier the better. The website says at least 4 months for a custom order plus if any of the flowers you want are back ordered, it could take even longer. I'll let you know if I hear anything.

I may not be using the fake flowers after all, my wedding planner thinks they do not work in the carribean because you are around so many flowers they look "more fake" So my flower order is on hold until I get the re-quote from her. However, you can order samples after you request your quote before you give a deposit. Congrats on the job offer Sam!! And sheesh! I totally empathize on the budget stuff right now. Our standing bill with Disney right now is at $15,652!!! :scared1: And that's not including all of our outside costs... So, they know how to get you! I know you guys will get it all squared away though, and have a gorgeous event!

Hey Sam! Our trip was great...and I love that you are leaning toward the Japan Gardens. They are so pretty!!

I'm glad you had a great time! I definitely think Japan is the way to go, but I may waver...

I did get a quote from the flower lady today. This was for my custom order, but at least it gives you an idea.

- Cost: 27.00 each x 3 = 81.00

Total with shipping: 317.75 + 24.15 = 341.90

I may not be using the fake flowers after all, my wedding planner thinks they do not work in the carribean because you are around so many flowers they look "more fake" So my flower order is on hold until I get the re-quote from her. However, you can order samples after you request your quote before you give a deposit. She did not send any pictures, you need to put down a deposit before you can get designs and photos done for final approval. I hope that helps.

That's not too shabby! Thanks for posting it. I get the whole real vs. fake debate but I think orchids look fake to begin with so hopefully that will be ok. I think I'm going to order some samples.
And PS thanks for being so helpful!

I have no idea how I got so far behind on your PJ but I'm all caught up now! Everything looks great. Your dress looks perfect on you. When you went shopping the last time, I tried on that Cinderella type one. I loved it, but couldn't afford it. My dress is one of the ones you tried on. I just love the dress, and I'm glad you did too, so many people loved the belle-looking dress but it just wasn't me. Smart minds think alike with those colors, hehe. I love them. We're probably going to have 6 BMs (:scared1: out of 50ish people total) so I want them to all look different, but DF wants them all in the same dress. So I'm trying to have them in different color variations: Dark purple with light, and same with greens, then mixing them together (with the sash) so I'm hoping it works!

Ugh sorry for the lack of replies lately. My grandmother broke her ankle 2 months ago and we've had a daily helper and a live-in with her...along with uncle. Well the 2 women did not like each other and there was this big blowout, that left my grandmother without help. So i was there all day yesterday keeping her company (without internet of course). And today I did 2 open water certification scuba dives, since we took our class in April and the water finally has been good for the dives. And it's quite exhausting, lugging all the stuff and being in the sun and the salt water. But it was very fun. So now I'm finally in front of my computer. We have hired the women to make Mike's outfit and I hope it comes out good. Of course this weekend I'm going up to my cousin's to celebrate her birthday, then we're driving down to my brothers so that DF and I can hang out and check out DC. We'll be back in Thursday, but I'll have internet but I won't be hanging around, just chilling on the boards.

If only the Iphone I ordered today was here!!! :lmao:

Thanks Ann! I do too, and so does my mom and DF! YAY

And I also some big news....I think we're pushing back the wedding...

by a day! ;) The 28th is a Thursday and most of our family are teachers (along with us) and for them to make it to the rehearsal and the wedding, they'd need to take off Wed, Thurs and Fri. (And the next week is teacher's convention = vacation week) so many people have been none too thrilled with that idea. So we've been talking it over and now that the Friday mins are $15K not the $20K I originally thought (2009 prices) my mother and I feel we're more likely to meet that number. Especially since we have to do DPS (:scared: which makes me very nervous). So we think that we meet it that $$ anyway, why not make it more convenient for everyone and make it on a Friday. DF and I will still go down on that Tuesday which gives us the 3 day waiting period) and gives us an extra day to get ready and relax. I think in the end everything will work out better.

So Christine would you mind also posting that monogram with the date of 10-29-10. Thanks!

Christine you are super awesome! Yes that's the one she likes, hehe. Mike however prefers my full name. I love the monogram of the S and M. It's all about compromise.

So it's official. We put in the request for the date change. I'm busy looking at hair clips. I can't decide for tiara, barrette/clip, or flower. Any opinions? I know the tiara is really popular. But I think with the hair choices (#3 and 6 from the pics) barrettes/flowers are the way to go. Hmmm...

Also thinking about jewelry. I have this really small blue sapphire/diamond necklace my mom permenantly lent to me, that my dad gave to her so it's old and sentimental. I'm not a big bracelet person, and earrings I really love chandelier earrings but I'm paranoid about heavy earrings. I HATE heavy earrings. I want ones that look beautiful and ornate but are actually really light. I don't know. I also want to include an old locket in my bouquet with pictures of our cats, hehe.

And I found (more like stole) these awesome shoes from Katie/Princess Shea. They are adorable!!!

http://img16.imageshack.us/img16/7006/1396510096p.jpg (http://img16.imageshack.us/i/1396510096p.jpg/)

They are kinda expensive but my mom thnks they're cute too and doesn't mind paying for the wedding stuff since I'll only be getting married once. I'm not sure. I like the flip flop idea but I should have nice shoes and I think these are cute, nice, but able to reuse them, and quirky...like me! Plus Katie says they are comfortable.

Haha it's addicting. Right now I'm waitingon an interview that's running 45 minutes late and I'm playing on the Dis :thumbsup2.

Back to wedding stuff. After viewing the japan ceremony thread on the main board I feel confident that we're going there. And I got some ideas from the pictures. First off I love the bridesmaids with parasols. I hate the. With bouquets and this way we cam save some major money because thty only cost a few bucks each and with 6 girls that can add up. Secondly I love the long walk over the bridge for the entrance. I like the drama of it hehe

And also one of the brides had a sparkly headband and I really liked the look of it. I'm weary of the tiara so it seems like a good compromise. I can't decide between that the tiara, hair combs, or flowers

Thanks Claire! Of course now, I was actually offered the position at the interview so I had 2 choices. And I have to decide by Wednesday morning. I'm so torn. Do I pick the one that pays more (but not a huge amount), is only 1 prep (all the same classes) and I have my own classroom, or do I pick the one in the same district as DF, I'll teach multiple levels, and possibly even bio (which makes me happy)? And Christine, you sneaky lady! I can't believe you've been conversing with Mike! Backstory: So tomorrow is Mike and my 3rd anniversary and Df wanted to surprise me by buying an Erlenmeyer Flask (a beaker) and engrave it for our sand ceremony, and he wanted to use the monogram and needed the actual file, as opposed to the copy of the pic I sent him. So he scoured Disney boards until he found this one, and then searched for me, and really Christine. He swears he didn't check out other pictures (like me in my dress, haha ;) ) and apparently PM'd Christine. Of course you need to post like 10 times before you can PM so he randomly posted around the board...if case you find him: he's Sam's Prince Charming. :cloud9:

Good choice :thumbsup2 ;)

For anyone looking just google "Marc Jacobs mouse". Be careful though because there are a lot of fakes out there. If the deal seems too good to be true, then it is! However, I have seen a lot of variety the past few years with this style -- silver, white, black glitter, red, leopard, blue, etc -- so I wouldn't be surprised if there is a green out there or will be eventually.

The flask is so cute! And super sweet that he went and did that for you!

That is sooooo sweet of him.

Thank you everyone! He truly is just the sweetest! I really don't deserve him.

Here are the bottles I think we want to go with. They're irradiated to be purple, and from a teaching website, hehe. :teacher:

Thanks Tammy! I can't pick the exact bottles I'll get, but I love the idea and it's geeky.

Now onto earrings. So I've been bored and needed things to look at so I've been searching for earrings on etsy. I want large earrings since they will be my main piece but I'm paranoid about heavy earrings.

BTW Here's the necklace I'm planning on wearing: http://www.imagechicken.com/uploads/1247948605015489700.jpg (http://www.imagechicken.com)

It's very small, about 3/8" by 3/8" and not too long. My dad gave it to my mom a long, long time ago (in a galaxy far far away) and she gave it to me back in high school. I never took it off until DF gave me a locket on our first anniversary.

The first one is the pair I'm thinking of getting, so I really like those, the last one (the flower one) you posted is adorable as well and it would tie in the blue in the necklace.

Laurie I really love 1 but I worry about the weight. You'll have to le meknow!

And I love that necklace. It's my something old, blue and borrowed since it will always be m moms in my mind.

I like 11 too but I'm not sure if they are too casual.

I think I'm going to order 3 and 7. Together the cost is cheaper than 1. And I also found some hair clips I like. But I'm still torn between tiara flowers clips and headbands. And I ordered not one but two custom garters from etsy. They inspired by DNA!!! I'll post pics as soon as they come in. I've also contacted some people about custom figurine cake toppers but we still can't decide between character outfits. And it's 1:30 am and I can't fall asleep! I've been under the weather and unAble to eat much so tired and been sleeping a lot and now I can't! But at least I have my kitties on my bed with me.

All of the earrings are lovely, so I think you'll be just fine! OOH!! I am so excited to see your custom garters! That's going to rock! :cool2:

And sorry to hear you've not been feeling well! Hopefully you feel better asap! Yay for kitties!!! You should share pictures with me of your feline companions some time. I happen to have one of my own that I can't imagine my life without.

I can't wait to see the garters. One woman is going to make the ribbons into a double helix and the other is going to embroider a dna helix. Here's the charm one of them found: http://www.imagechicken.com/uploads/1248307151002268400.jpg (http://www.imagechicken.com)
It's too perfect!

Thanks! I'm starting to feel a little better today. Blech I hate feeling this way! I'm having a hard time finding pictures of my kitties.
It's keeps saying the file size is too big. I have to find another picture uploading site. Or just take new ones with my phone. Mike and I love cats. We each have 2 at home. When we move, we're taking the young one with us. Our others are 12+ and it's too mean to take them with us and away from our families. But we found a little calico at Petsmart last year and she lives with me, but is ours. And we'll probably get a kitten (or two) as well. We're going to have so many pets! :scared1: He wants huskies, and fish tanks, and an octopus, and ducks possibly. I'm good with cats but I love other animals too (just not birds...for some reason I hate birds...except birds of prey and I'm NOT being a falconer )

I'm with Anjanette! I vote 1 and 11!!!

I think I may get 11 just fun! I really like 1 too but 3 AND 7 together are still cheaper than 1.

Oh I like #3!!!
Thanks Amanda. Me too!

I also found some hair combs I like:
http://www.imagechicken.com/uploads/1248307609045479100.jpg (http://www.imagechicken.com)

I like how this one is a little yellowy and aged. My dress is more ivory.

Just got caught up again and love everything! Your kitties are too cute- I have one of my own named Rayna- she was a Hurricane Katrina cat and we love her to death. The flask turned out great- what a sweet surprise! Where did he get it engraved at? The necklace is lovely and I love the story behind is- I think earrings #1 were my favorite but you can't go wrong with any of them:thumbsup2

Thanks Adelia!! Aw, that's so nice of you to adopt a cat like that. We adopted ours from Petsmart. :goodvibes I'm all for adopting! And they are usually the sweetest. And DF definitely surprised me. He found some older couple that own a little shop. And I love that necklace too! :cool1:

 Well thank you! I will take that compliment. Unfortunately however, my good taste often means expensive. But luckily two of my favorite earrings are not that expensive. This is the one thing I hate about being a teacher...no money coming in during the summer! I do work for the school system during the summer, but we're paid for vouchers so we won't be paid until next week, already 4 weeks into the program. And with our anniversary in July, my mother's birthday, and scuba certification, I've been spending :scared1: And I need to get a new car soon. Oh well, soon it will be September and I'll be getting paid again. For now, I'll just keep online window shopping...but I think I may order a pair of those earrings...it's only money right? ;)

Hello everyone! A couple updates. So we've been talking about having an engagement party and I think we've finally come up with a plan. We would have had one sooner but my brother graduated from law school soon after the engagement and we were planning on having a party for him...but then nothing happened and we decided to wait until after he took the bar. Well he's taking it this week and we still haven't planned the party. But I figure it will be some time this summer. So summer's out, and then I remember how DF said we should have the party a year out, and have it be a Halloween party. My mom liked the idea and I think that's what we're going to do.

And we're also considering engagement shots. I posted this on another thread on the main board. Don't know whether to do it here, or in Disney in January.

I also helped my parents book themselves in a trip to WDW in November and their friend offered her DVC points. And I talked to her and she made a casual offer to me for next year. If she's serious, I'm definitely going to take her up on the offer, at least for the marathon.

Also while browsing tiaras for Stacey on etsy, I found a really unique one I liked:
http://www.imagechicken.com/uploads/1248648210092657000.jpg (http://www.imagechicken.com)

I just can't decide how I want to wear my hair. If I wear it looser I don't think I can do a headband. With the headband I'd wear smaller earrings. If I do hair clips I'd do bigger earrings. I can't decide what goes better. Oh well, I've got time. :confused3

Hehe, Emme definitely is a meow-maker! and I like making nicknames with ________ McGee. I do love etsy!!! And that headband. I just need to figure out the hairstyle and thus decide accessories.
