Okay, I took some pictures today of this 'nameless' tree that borders our property, but hangs over into our yard...This tree for three days has been shooting little cotton balls all over our yard...Today it seems to have subsided, but yesterday and the day before was awful!! We had cotton balls everywhere!!:p

When I first posted about it, someone said they were Dogwood/Cottonwood trees, but then Snuggles posted a picture of a Cottonwood tree and that is not what these are...So, maybe someone could help me out? What is this tree that does this??

Here are the trees on the property

Here are a couple of pictures of what our yard looks like after a "shower" of Cotton falls...and trust me this is a small sample...we have this all over our yard!!

The tree Snuggles posted was a Dogwood. Those are cottonwood trees that are in your pictures. They are two different types of trees.

Looks like snow Beanie!! ;) Are you SURE thats not what it is? J/K :D I did do a search on Google and find a place that mentioned the cotton-bearing poplar tree. I'm still looking for a picture for you. We will find this tree yet LOL

LOL Snuggles! You know as it is falling all around me, I did once mention to DH that it looked like it was snowing...At least it is not cold and wet...only annoying! :p

Thanks for all the help, everyone!! :)

It's really bad for those with allergies and for air conditioners. Be sure to check your outside units and wash them off if they are full of the cottonwood. There have been times around here when it looks like a blizzard or white out!

I have a cottonwood tree and they can be messy but just for a little while and they are beautiful trees :)

Wait until the cotton appears, Bean. What you are seeing now is the fluff that precedes the cotton, it looks like someone has torn up a mattress or something when it falls. But it just lasts a day or two :)
