how do you print the shirts?

Just wondering if most of you use the printable iron-on transfers from craft stores, or have the shirts printed professionally?

I did a few of my own using the cheap-o printable transfers from Michaels and after one washing they crackled all over! Maybe it's b/c it was the cheap ones and not the high quality? Or are all the print-at-home ones like this? :confused3

Any advice/suggestions appreciated!! I'm such a noob :laughing:

I ordered some transfer sheets from the user "M I C K E Y" on her site www.amymickey.com

I haven't received them yet (expect to tomorrow or thursday) but from what I read, they are the BEST and no cracking happens.

Since I don't use irons, my mom is going to help me with the ironing part. I am making a shirt each for my nephews (that's a total of 2 shirts for my nephews) and two shirts for me.

Also, according to the information on her website, amy's paper doesn't require the image to be flipped/mirrored. Since I don't own Photoshop, this is great for me.


So basically I plan to do this myself w/ my mom helping with the actual ironing part.


Its a lot cheaper this way.

Also a few more tips...Make sure to wash the shirts before applying the transfer, to take out the sizing? I have no idea what this is...but just wash the shirts first and when drying make sure NOT to use Fabric Softener.

I use HP transfer paper for colored fabrics, also you don't have to flip the image. I have noticed that for all my white colored transfers I have done on white shirts they always peel/crack. I have decided that from now on if I want to do a white design on a colored shirt I will just put a frame around the design. Hope this helps!
