And I am reminded once again why I love Apple, and keep shelling out money for their products.
After mentally berating myself for a few days I decieded to hike my rear end up to the Apple Store today and throw myself and my stupidity at the mercy of whatever poor Apple employee happened to be unfortunate enough to have to deal with me.
I had barely explained what had happened when she said no problem, and refunded me the complete amount. :cool1: Seriously, I know that their products cost more, but I'll never go anywhere else for my computers. Great customer service (that even speak understandable english when you have to call them) and great products.
As a bonus on the way back to my office I got to walk past Abercrombie and Fitch and gaze at the eye candy they have in the doorway. At least they gave the poor guy a jacket today. No shirt, but at least a jacket.
SO glad you got your refund!! YAY!!!:yay: LOL about the eye candy at Abercrombie and Fitch!! LOVE IT!!!:rotfl:

I love that it's always eye candy for the girls that they have out on display at Abercrombie, usually it's all about eye candy for the boys. The Abercrombie on 5th avenue always puts out a 1/2 dressed man, although I will admit that the one the other day was just a bit too young. A little too much "boy" and not enough "man".

I've been putting some thought recently into souveniers, or more specifically the lack of them I plan on buying this trip. Much that I'd love to spend tons of money on lots of goodies, the truth is I really don't need them. When I only was going to Disney every five years or so, I was able to justify treating myself on silly Disney items. Now that I'm on 4th trip in as many years, with another trip in the works for next year I have to exercise some kind of control. I have a tiny place, and I really don't have lots of room to put all the stuff that I would love to own. I'd rather buy less, and go again to Disney next year. I'm trying to consider my spa treatment my own big "souvenier" to myself. Of course I'll be picking up some goodies for the girls, since they're a bit put out that they aren't going with me this year.
I do have a bit of a wish list for this trip. (Seriously, I can't come home with nothing!)
Wish List
Mickey Loose Tea Diffuser
MVMCP Pin
Something Boardwalk themed (I've wanted to stay here for so long, I have to get something from here).
We'll see how well I'm able to stick to the plan. I know I'm sure I'll find some odd item that I just have to have.
I thought I'd share a few of my favorite souveniers from old trips. These are all out where I can see them pretty much all the time. I love having touches of Disney around my house.
My favorite souvenier of all time is a Poly tiki glass. I think my mom got it at the pool bar one trip and they let me have it because I begged so much for it. I love it. :lovestruc It just makes me remember those childhood trips.
http://i194.photobucket.com/albums/z126/Seastorm2/TikiGlass_opt.jpg
Second favorite souveniers would be my Donald rubber duckies. I had bought myself the Philharmagic one in 2007, and my family has given me the rest of them as gifts the past few Christmases.
http://i194.photobucket.com/albums/z126/Seastorm2/DuckieDonalds_opt.jpg
My favorite one is the PoC Donald. Donald's my favorite character, and having him in pirate gear, too cute!
http://i194.photobucket.com/albums/z126/Seastorm2/PirateDonald_opt.jpg
And my third favorite was the Mickey cutting board that I picked up on my last trip.
http://i194.photobucket.com/albums/z126/Seastorm2/CuttingBoard_opt.jpg
I'm also torn on getting a photopass cd this year. I never got one of the e-mails that they are sending out for the discount, and I refuse to pay $149 for it. Even $99 is a bit high for me, since this trip I won't be sharing the cost with any family members. I'm thinking I'll just have the photopass photographers use my camera as well. Since I'm so far behind with my scrapbooking (I still haven't scrapped last year's trip) I might just use Disney's photobook option. At least that way I'll have a completed book.

Oh, your souvenirs that you already have are great. I love the Tiki glass!
I think you can do well with your souvie budget. :thumbsup2
I am a little bit over Photopass...at least for me. I think I'd only get it if I was splitting the cost or if I was bringing kids with me but that is just me.

I am so in awe of your Poly tiki glass!!! What a great souvenir!!!
I think you are very wise to limit your souvenirs so you can go again next year, but you definitely need to come back with a couple of things to remember the trip. :goodvibes

Oh, I love my Mickey loose tea diffuser!!! I highly recommend this as a souvie. You'll use it forever. :thumbsup2
I love that Poly Tiki glass, it manages to look ominous and cute all at the same time.
I have to say, I've done the photopass CD time and time again. Tink and I even did when we went in May, and split the cost. But honestly, even if I were footing the bill on my own, I'd get it. And this is totally personal, because I really don't do a lot in the way of souvies. For me, and with the family, you know, I'd rather have the pictures of them, and not have to take out my camera all the time. It's a convenience thing, and I find it to be worth it. That being said, it may not be worth it for you if you're not feeling so jazzed about it and are not planning to scrapbook it, so I hear you. Definitely have them use your camera, I've done that before, and it always works nicely. :goodvibes

I had one other favorite, but I couldn't find it when I was taking pictures. I also just recently got all my old Disney stuffed animals back. (My mother made me take the last of my old toys that I had stuffed in her attic).
I really love all the kitchen gadgets. I had wanted to get the Mickey collender, but my brother and SIL gave me one for Christmas. Do they know me or what?
If my friend was going to kick in half of the photopass I might do it, but otherwise I think I'm going to go without it.

I love my Poly tiki. I remember wanting it back when we used to spend a day hanging by the pool and my mom would get a pina colada. I love the resort specific items. That's why I need to find something from the Boardwalk.

I love loose tea, so the diffuser is a must. I won't feel guilty about a souvie that I'll use every day.
The tiki glass actually has a second side to it. On the other side he's smiling. :)
I love the photopass too. I just need to shave some money off somewhere and I think that's going to have to be one of the spots to do it. If I was up to date with my scrapbooking I'd feel better about it, but I haven't done any in ages. My SIL and I keep saying we need to set a date to scrapbook. When we get together is the only time I seem to get anything done.
I figure that if I at least have them use my camera I can make a photobook of the trip.

You look like a very sensible and wise shopper. I too, love getting things that I'll actually USE! The cutting board is a great example, as are the Tiki cup and tea diffuser!! Great picks!!
Hmmm.. photopass. I would be one to pass it up. I've always been way too frugal and am happy to use my own camera (I bought and brought it to use). but TK's point of not having to whip it out all the time is a good one. It does eat up a lot of time finding someone to take the shot, telling them how to use it, etc...

You know, I love the ease of photobooks! I have to say, I love the way scrapbooks look, and I like working with my hands, and the 3d quality it can have, but as someone who's constantly trying to conserve on space and not really wanting more stuff junking up our place, photobooks are awesome! I got a flat rate once from...winkflash I think...and I was able to go up to 100 pages in a 12x12. And how thin it is on the shelf! I could have so many of those, and it saves on room. :thumbsup2

That's exactly what I love about useful souveniers. I may have to pick up an ornament this trip since it's a Christmas trip. I also have a great wine bottle stopper that I bought in the AKL gift shop the one time I stayed there. It's not at all Mickey related, but a great wood carved giraffe. It was really inexpensive, and always makes me think of that trip and staying at the lodge. Gets lot of use too. :rolleyes1

I love the feel of real scrapbooks too. For the trips with my niece's I would never think of doing anything else. I want to save all the little momentos from the trip. You are right though. They take up so much space. It scares me a bit how much scrapbooking stuff I own, when I have no time to work on anything.
Last year for Christmas presents I made photobooks for my folks, brother and SIL and my SIL's dad of our trip to Disney. It was a huge hit, especially with my parents and my SIL's dad. They loved getting to have their own photobook of the trip. My New Year's Resolution next year is going to complete my scrabook of that trip.

I've done that before and it's such a nice gift! You know what else people really enjoy? If you pick a few of your very favorite photos from a trip and do one of those photo collages. I did that for Mom and Nana last year for Mother's Day (of our December trip) and they just loved it!

My trip seems to be sneaking up on me at a really rapid pace, but luckily I've been keeping up with my to-do list for both the trip and for the upcoming holidays. I moved my suitcase up to my room, and I've been tossing stuff in as I think of it. Luckily I've been able to get most of my clothing ready since I don't need things like shorts any longer up here in CT. All I'll really need to add to the suitcase is things like my jeans, and the makeup and hairstuff I use everyday. I've tried to restrain myself from doing too much shopping for my trip, but I have picked up a few things along the way. :rolleyes1 (I'm convinced it's an illness).
Earlier this year I bought two new bags. I had every intention of only bringing the wristlet for my main park bag, but I've been having some second thoughts.
http://i194.photobucket.com/albums/z126/Seastorm2/Disney%202009/NewWristlet_opt.jpg
I've been using the mini-hipster off and on lately, and it's really growing on me. I'm still not in complete love with the pattern, but I've been finding it roomier than I originally thought. It's lightweight, and it actually falls decently across my body. It's now a solid maybe to bring along on the trip, just because of the worry free quality of it.
http://i194.photobucket.com/albums/z126/Seastorm2/Disney%202009/Hipster.jpg
A bit more unexpected was the new bathing suit I purchased last week. I had already bought myself a new bathing suit at the end of the season this year, but my dirty little secret is that I have a weakness for purchasing bathing suits. This makes no sense at all, because at the most I put one on a handful of times a season, but still I feel driven to buy new suits constantly. I'll never admit to how many I actually own. A co-worker though had sent me a 30% off coupon good at The Gap's family of companies. I was poking around online and found this suit at their Athleta store.
http://i194.photobucket.com/albums/z126/Seastorm2/swimsuit_opt.jpg
I had never heard of Athleta, but I loved that they had some bathing suit tops with bra cup sizing. :lovestrucI'm always hunting down, but never finding bathing suits with real support. The suit was in the clearance section, and I got the 30% off on top of that. :woohoo:It had to be ordered. I just received it today and it's adorable. I can't wait to try it on. I also purchased the matching bottom, and a new cover-up as well, although I will probably be wearing the top I bought with my favorite Lands End swim shorts.
My very first trip purchase for this trip though was actually made just after Christmas last year.
http://i194.photobucket.com/albums/z126/Seastorm2/SnowmanShirt_opt.jpg
I had picked up this t-shirt from Christopher Banks at the end of the season for I think about $5. Perfect to wear to the Christmas party. I also picked up this tank top at the same time in case it's really warm.
http://i194.photobucket.com/albums/z126/Seastorm2/TankNeck_opt.jpg
Actually the tank was bought for me to wear Christmas day under this sweater -
http://i194.photobucket.com/albums/z126/Seastorm2/XmasSweater_opt.jpg
But I'm thinking that I may just bring it along anyways. Just in case.
Another one of my little issues is that I hate having cold hands. Any of the rest of me I'm fine with being cold, but I hate having cold hands. Now while I'm not expecting to freeze to death in Orlando on my trip, I just want to be prepared. If I have to walk around all night with cold hands, my BFF may just do me it. I finished these gloves up last week.
http://i194.photobucket.com/albums/z126/Seastorm2/Gloves_opt.jpg
They should work out perfectly if I need a little more warmth for my hands. They aren't too heavy, but will provide a bit more warmth if I end up needing it.
On Friday I had picked up a new mini wallet, and an ID lanyard to use at the airport. They were really cute, and I found them really inexpensively at one of the craft booths that they have now at Bryant Park in NYC. I would have showed those to you too. Would have. Somehow though I have managed to lose them. I bought them on Friday and by Sunday night I couldn't find them. I thought they were in my bag, but when I went to look for them they were gone. I'm at a loss at where they may have gone. I've searched my car, and my place. I went back to the Subway I stopped at for dinner. Nothing. I put in a report with the train, but I haven't heard anything from them. I swear I'd lose my head if it wasn't attached to the rest of my body. :sad2:

I'll probably bring both bags since they weigh practically nothing and take up no room, along with my baggalini in case I want something bigger. I'd been bringing my hipster to several baseball games and it worked great. I was amazed how much I could fit in there.
I figure I'll get to use the suit at least once when I go to the spa. I want to hit up the hot tub at the BWI a few times too. I love relaxing in a hot tub.

I love fingerless gloves. Thank goodness they are fairly quick to knit up. Those only took me a couple of days, and that's with not even working on them all that often.

That's a big difference between guys and girls - we never much think about our clothes, and certainly wouldn't post pictures of them on-line. The most thought I put into a Disney trip clothing is..."where are all my Disney T-shirts?" and "How many days worth of underwear and socks do I need?"
While I do have a bag...it was mostly bought for Utilitarian purposes, not looks. I needed a bag that held small things, plus wanted water for those hot summer trips - so I got a camelback. I also use it for skiing - so it's dual purpose, though I find the water (drink) line freezes frequently while skiing.
That said, your christmas clothes are very cute. The fingerless gloves seem like a good idea on chilly Florida evenings, too. I wasn't thinking gloves, but they might not be a bad idea - I have a pair of Isotoners that I use most mornings in fall and spring until the real winter arrives.

Oddly enough I have very few Disney t-shirts, and I really only wear them on my Disney vacations. I love getting the chance to break them out and wear them. I always bring extras of the socks and undies though. Maybe it's a bit of the boy scout "be prepared" motto, but I'm usually set for at least an extra week.

I wasn't going to bother, but I had downloaded Samantha Brown's Disney holiday special from itunes, and everyone looked so bundled up! Even in the middle of the afternoons some of the people were wearing big winter coats. I figured it wouldn't hurt to be prepared in case I needed them. I can wear shorts in fairly cool temps, but when my hands get cold I get cranky. I may have to bring something for my ears too just in case. If it's cool and windy I get ear aches pretty easily.

That might just be southerners for you...it drops into the 60s, and they are bundled up like it's the artic tundra.
We have an engineer working here that is from Louisiana. He has his winter jacket on most days when it is 58 degrees out. Last year for wintertime, he bought himself the "best jacket money can buy", an artic explorer jacket that they supposedly use in the ice stations of the poles. He was walking around all zipped up, while I didn't even have my regular coat zipped up.
I do agree it is right to be prepared...I just wasn't thinking gloves. However, the good thing about flying OUT of Buffalo is that we will have to have winter clothing on to go to the airport...we won't need to pack it, it will be with us on the plane!

I just finished reading your last trip report (for some reason I couldn't respond to it... ???) Anyway, I am sorry your SIL father caused so much stress. We're travelling with my mum this year and I am a little weary to be honest, because she is also staying in our room. It could be heaven... but it could also be hell. Luckily my mum thinks the same way and we agreed that if we don't get along, to spend some extra cash and get her a room of her own.
You wrote you were scared that there won't be anymore family trips? Why not leave one person behind next time? If he doesn't enjoy it anyway?
Anyway, I am going to start reading your PTR now :rotfl:

Thanks for joining in! I think they probably closed my old trip report down. It was a wonderful trip, but my parents and I were all thrilled that we weren't staying at the same place as my SIL's dad. I don't even want to imagine how irritated I would have been if I had to live in the same house as him for the entire week. :scared1:
We did have a mini family vacation this year without him. My brother and SIL bought a vacation home, and it isn't quite big enough for all of us. It was wonderful getting to spend the time with my nieces without him. We had been talking about a cruise last year before the vacation, but I think it will be much harder to get rid of him for a trip like that.
Hon, you have quite a talent, those gloves are beautiful!
I didn't know that Athleta had bra cup sizing!!!! Do you know how unbelievably excited I am about this? I mean, I don't want to go into detail but let's just say that pre-pregnancy body and post-pregnancy body are two different things, and although I love my Disney Store Mickey Mouse skirtini, well, the thought of having support??? WOOT!!!! :goodvibes
Hope that's not tmi. :rolleyes1
Anyhoo, doesn't it make it more exciting just listing everything out like that? Your trip is getting soooo close!!! :goodvibes
Definitely not tmi. I can't tell you how excited I was to find out that they carried bra cup sizing. The fact that I'm no longer 21 is catching up with me even though I have no kids. I'm always amazed at how difficult suits like that are to find. They even have long torso sizes with bra cup sizing. I've never found those before. I finally got around to trying the suit on this weekend and am so happy. It still shows a bit more skin than I'm used to, but that's one of my little issues I need to get over.
The calendar I made is had been a godsend so far. I just know I would have forgotten something without it. I'm not normally so listy, but this trip it's working wonders for keeping me sane.
11 more days!!!!!!!!:dance3:
It still doesn't seem possible! I think once Thanksgiving is over the realilty of my vacation is really going to hit me hard.

:woohoo: Woo Hoo! I'm nearly down to the single digit dance. I'm starting to get pretty excited about my upcoming trip. I've been a bit overwhelmed with holiday plans, but I'm hoping once Thanksgiving is over I'll be able to focus on my trip. Last Friday I actually had a bit of Disney to my day. My parents came in to the city and my mom belated treated my father and I to a birthday dinner at Alfredos. Yum!! I forgot how much I miss Alfredo's from Epcot. Our waiter was wonderful, and used to work at the Alfredo's in Epcot. He definitely still had that Disney attitude, and brought my father out a special gold fork and spoon to eat his fettuccini alfredo with. Afterwards my mom took us to see the Broadway show "Rock of Ages." Hands down one of the most fun shows I've seen on Broadway. Not a deep or meaningful musical in anyway, but so much fun. I couldn't help but sing along with all of the 80's songs. I've never seen the show American Idol, but the star of the show, Constantine, had been on Idol. He had an amazing voice. It was definitely a good pick.
I think I've picked up just about everything I needed for the trip. I have a few odds and ends I need to pick up, but nothing major. A quick trip to the drug store should take care of that. I do need to iron though, a job I truly detest. I'm hoping to do a bit of that tonight.
I hadn't been planning on following any kind of touring plan, but I started to think a bit better of that.
http://i194.photobucket.com/albums/z126/Seastorm2/touringplans_opt.jpg
Laminated touring plans. I figured that I was better off having them. I usually like to start the day following them, and then alter them, or drop them completely as needed. The UG plans haven't steered me wrong yet. I like thinking of them as my security blanket.
And while I was laminating, I couldn't help but laminate a few of these as well.
http://i194.photobucket.com/albums/z126/Seastorm2/LGMHs_opt.jpg
So my to-do list before I leave:
Make list and purchase last few items for trip
Iron Clothes for Trip (Ugh!)
Load Ipod for trip
Bake/Cook for Holidays
Put up Christmas Decorations
Do Christmas Cards
Get some more Christmas shopping done - Really don't want to have to come home to deal with shopping
Get cash for trip
Make dinner reservation for girls day in the city for later in December.
Have mail held at post office for week of vacation
Arrange for online bill payment of December bills
The good thing is that I have Friday off from my part time job, and at least half of Saturday as well. (The morning half). I may have to work at night, but I should be able to get the decorations up. I still am debating over how many of the decorations to put up. I'm just not feeling the urge yet. I swear working kills all Christmasy impulses I have. The only time in recent years I was really into the Christmas spirit was the year I was out of work, and had the time to just enjoy the little things. When I'm working I feel so rushed, and my good tidings go right out the window.

You know, I don't think I've said this before...but I think your signature name is fantastic...very clever use of an old ride name, but the image the name gives (to those of us old enough to remember) that Disney gives you wings.

It's actually about a week away from my office. I love going with my family because while I love it, I can't eat much before I'm stuffed. I go with them, they order it, and I pick off their plates. :rotfl:
The waiter was really wonderful. He really made us feel like we were in Disney.

Thank you! It used to be my favorite ride. I have so many wonderful memories of riding it repeatedly with my mom while my dad and brother rode Space Mountain. The song really made the ride. For me it was never the same once Eastern went out of business and they got ride of the song.

I love the Mickey heads laminated. I have a bunch of them I need to do something crafty with. I think my sis has one. Hmmm......
I know what you mean about going solo some. I will be solo mainly but will have people with me some of the time, but they have other rooms to go too. :thumbsup2 The best of both worlds.
I haven't done much with touring plans since I made the ADRS but I am planning to check out Touringplan.com and do a RideMax schedule, more for an idea of how/what/where. I didn't think to laminate it though.

Fun evening with the family too. Can't think of a nicer way to have a belated birthday.
Don't sweat the decorations. You'll get plenty of that at Disney, and it will be less stress on you, than having to worry about "did I put enough up?". Really, get the bills paid, shop the travel aisle and be off!:cool1:

My brother gave me the laminating idea. Last year when we took our family trip he didn't laminate but covered all our plans with heavy dute clear packing tape. I think I like his way a bit better. The plans are still protected, but much more pliable.

I was planning on doing a better post today, but honestly I just don't have the energy. Yesterday I started to develop a bit of a sore throat shortly after I got to work. Today I woke up feeling like I've been hit by an 18 wheeler. I somehow have to make it until 4pm here at work, and I'm really not sure I'm going to make it.
Every part of my body feels like it weighs 50 lbs, I'm fighting to keep my eyes open, and I'm shivering as if it's sub zero weather. So not good. We are having a potluck lunch here at work, but I have no appetite at all. I'm really trying to get something done at work, but my eyes keep lowering all on their own. I'm leaving for Disney in 9 days I can't be sick. Normally my office lets us out at 2:30 before holidays, but of course this year they are making us stay to 4. At least I'll get home around 6pm, and all I need to make for tomorrow is a pie. I was going to do it all from scratch, but I gave my mom a call today and she's going to pick up a ready made crust for me. I'm just not up to homemade crust tonight.
Hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving. It's one of my favorite holidays because really it's a holiday anyone can celebrate no matter what your religious beliefs are. It's just the simple act of being thankful for what you have. Hopefully my appetite will come back before dinner tomorrow, but even if it doesn't I'm so happy I get to spend the day with my family and my nieces.

Ooohh, ironing. The iron is not my friend. It never does what I tell it to. :lmao:
Clear packing tape? That's an idea! :thumbsup2 I don't know if I can get to my sis's laminator, if she even remembers where it is.
I do the same with living next door to NYC. The last few years has been with Broadway and now I'm trying to visit more museums. I was debating going in for T-Giving parade (after all Sailor Mickey will be there :rotfl:), but I think it's going to have to wait for another year.
With the addition of a car park at Secaucus Junction, it's super fast & easy to get into NYC. Drive there and in NYC within 10-15 minutes max. Beautious!
I hope you feel better!!!!

Bummer about being sick...I have been fighting a cold for the last five days. I am HAPPY though. I figure if I am sick now, I can't be sick again in 2 weeks, right?

Thanks everyone. Unfortunately me, the girl who never gets more than a little cold managed to come up with a doozy the week before her vacation. Luckily though nothing has been as bad as last Wed. was. I spent the majority of my weekend sleeping and trying to get as much rest as possible.
I still managed to wake up this morning with no voice. I came into work, because I knew half my department took the day off. When my boss called and said he wasn't coming in until about 1pm I was more than just a bit annoyed. I'm going to try to get an appointment to see my doctor. Hopefully he can give me something more effective than the over the counter stuff I've been using.
Hopefully everyone had a great Thanksgiving. Mine was okay inspite of the cold. I was able to actually eat a little bit of food, and I always love getting to spend time with my nieces. The one bad part was that I had to keep a bit of distance from them so I didn't infect them. Very tough! I hated not being able to play with them the way I wanted to. My poor younger niece kept forgetting and just coming up and hugging me. I'd have to shoo her away. It was killing me. :sad2:

I know that for someone who is leaving for Disney in just three days I've been missing in action around here. I thought that I had everything planned and under complete control for my last two weeks before vacation.
Then I got sick.
Talk about throwing a wrench into the plans. I hardly ever get sick, and when I do it's the garden variety cold type of sick. Usually it's just my allergies bugging me, never anything more than that. Last Wed. I woke up feeling worse than I have in ages. Ugh! It was just horrible. I was hit with the works…headache, nausea, fever and fatigue so bad that I thought I was actually going to fall asleep at my desk at work.
By the time I got home at about 6pm it was all I could do but to crawl into bed. I set my alarm clock for 8pm thinking I'd get up to bake the pie I needed to for Thanksgiving dinner, but after it did I realized there was no way I was capable of making a pie that night. I slept through until 9am the next day when I finally got up and made the pie. I don't know if I've ever slept as much as I have the past week. I did for some crazy reason get up to be at Target at 5am on Friday, but after having breakfast with my Dad after shopping I was back in bed again by 7:30 am. I had to work on Sunday morning, but was back in bed really early again.
:santa:My big goal for the weekend had been to put up my Christmas decorations, but needless to say that didn't get done. I did manage to squeeze in my packing between naps, but that's about it. I'm trying not to stress too much over the lack of Christmas decorations. If they get up this year, they'll get up if not I'll have to live with it.
I ended up taking yesterday off from work and heading to the doctor's office. The official diagnosis - upper respiratory infection, although I'm pretty sure it must have been a touch of the flu earlier in the week. He put me on antibiotics and gave me some heavy duty cough medicine. My voice hasn't come back yet, but today is the first day in a week that I've had any energy at all. Hopefully I'll be doing even better by Saturday morning. :thumbsup2
Otherwise I'm ready to go. Bags are virtually packed and set to go. Paperwork is all set. I just have a few things to pick up on the way home today, a trip to the bank tomorrow, and some garbage and dishes to do before I leave. I'm planning on staying over at my parents house on Friday night to make things easier. Plus it will give me a built in wake up call. (I am horrible about oversleeping, especially lately). Illness or not, Disney here I come!

I did wake up with a voice today so it seems to be doing the trick. A slightly deeper, scratchier voice, but it is a voice. What a relief!
Just pretend you are Demi Moore.

Luckily not a big problem, but still it was unexpected and it's left me a bit annoyed.
Being pretty much ready to go, I was all set yesterday to do the final bit of banking I needed to handle before I left. Most of my money for this trip is on my Disney gift cards, but I wanted to keep a certain amount of cash on hand for things like tips and other small expenses that come up. I maintain a small passbook savings account at my local hometown bank. My normal checking account is at a large chain bank, but when I was opening up the savings account I wanted to keep them separate, and make it harder for me to get my hands on my savings account money. When I had both accounts at the same bank it was way to easy for me to just transfer money from one account to another (and it was never from the checking into the savings account). Keeping them separate, and keeping the savings account money difficult to access was part of my plan.
Can you see where this is headed?
I found out when I got home from work last night that my charming local bank no longer keeps the drive-thru open until 8pm. Nope. Every night now they close by 5 or 6pm. I won't repeat any of the choice words I was muttering last night when I found out. I can't believe that they don't even have one late night. Who the blazes who works for a living anywhere outside of our town can get to the bank before 6pm. People work stupid bank! The bank only has branches is two different towns, so you have to work pretty close to be able to make it there during their hours now. Had they ever bothered to notify about the change in hours I would have gone while I was home on Tuesday to get my hands on my money. :sad2:
When I get home I'm going to have to go close the account and move it to either one of the big chain places where they have offices in NYC, or to another local bank that's a bit bigger and has branches at some local grocery stores that are open late and on Sundays.
My problem is that now I'm low on cash. There is no way I'm going to be able to get my hands on the savings account money before I leave (I don't get home from work until nearly 7pm). Since it's the begining of the month, I don't have a lot of excess cash sitting around in my checking account. I was able to cash a personal check I was holding onto, and I'll be able to withdraw the money from my part-time job once it's direct deposited. I'm thinking that should be enough cash to have on-hand. I was hoping to have a bit more, but I'll just have to be careful. I'll just fill in with my credit card, and then using the savings account money when I get back.
I'm more irritated that they never bothered to let me know about the changes. The later availability at the drive-thru is was one of the reasons why I opened the account there even though they had few branches. I need to have some availability to my money!

I'm just glad I didn't absolutely need that money, and I'll be able to cover things until I can get my hands on it,or I would have had to take a 1/2 day off of work.
The sad thing though is that as excited as I am about getting to Disney tomorrow, what I'm really looking forward to is checking in to the Boardwalk on Tuesday. I'm giddy just thinking about it!

Just had to share a woo hoo with everyone! I did my online check in for the airport and I have my boarding pass! :cool1: I feel like I'm getting so close to being there.
On the other hand for some reason I can't seem to check in using Disney's online check in system. :sad1: I've been trying for several days and everytime I put in my information it tells me that the online system is down and to try later. Really annoying!

What a bummer about your bank! It's so weird that they don't have at least one night with late hours.
I hope you have a fabulous trip. I know you have been looking forward to it for over a year now and I am so excited that it is here for you! :goodvibes

Hi everyone! Just wanted to pop in and say I made it back to the cold Northeast after a bit of an up and down week. Overall it was a good week, but in many ways it wasn't really the vacation I had been expecting and hoping for. I still had fun, but didn't really end up doing most of what I had wanted to do, and many things ended up being very different from what I was expecting.
I'll be starting a new trip report as soon as I get a bit caught up with real life. I've unpacked my bags, but still haven't had a chance to even attempt my laundry or uploading my pics.
