We booked the French Quarter, but wondering if Riverside is better (are they even close)?:confused3

We stayed at Riverside in August and loved it. Having said that, we also took the boat to French Quarter and spent a morning there at the pool, and I really liked it there, too. Personally, without having stayed at FQ, I'm pretty sure they're both great! :thumbsup2

Riverside is a lot larger but I love the theming. It also has a sit down restaurant. They are both beautiful resorts and I don't think you can really go wrong.

We loved the FQ. We walked to RS daily. Because my kids are getting older and larger, we'd book Aligator Bayou's for the extra bed. S

We stayed at Port Orleans for our honeymoon and really enjoyed it. We especially liked the boat to Downtown Disney. We visited French Quarter and it was a lot of fun. We especially liked the pool. I'm sure you will enjoy either one.

We love French Quarter. We like Riverside, but FQ fits us better. We like that the resort is small. Once you leave a crowded theme park, it is nice to unwind at a resort where you are not fighting with crowds. We also come from a small town, so this might be a reason in itself. We are happy with the one theme pool. The kids love it.

I think Riverside would be good for some if they are use to having lots of choices. More pools to choose from, more counter service options, more room locations etc. I can't say that I would stay here without renting a car. The bus stops always look way to crowded. We love the option of using both resort ammenities. Good luck in your choice!

Sometimes FQ gets their own buses and sometimes you share them with riverside.

We stayed at POR but spent two afternoons at the pool at FQ. We also loved the beignets.

We're a family of 5 so we needed the trundle bed but would have done FQ otherwise.

we have stayed at both with a family of 16 and loved them both. they are an easy 5 min. walk apart
POR pool is bigger and the rest. and store are bigger. FQ is smaller and quieter and the pool was just re-done.
if i had to choose i would probably go to FQ again as i like the smaller quieter place.

No...only one pool but it's a big one. The resort is the smallest of all, it only has 1,000 rooms. The size of this resort is part of what has made this our fav.

We prefer POR. We found it much quieter and laid back after a long Disney day. Even though we are DVC members now POR is still one of our most favourite resorts:lovestruc

Riverside is nicer in my opinion. Nice landscape and white hotel.

We didn't like FQ last year. Pink washed colors...

Can a family of five only fit in at FQR? how was it for size, did your family feel squished? We are a fam of 5 and Im really struggling with where to stay I just can't pick I find the choices overwhelming. ANy advice, I keep considering whether we should try renting off the DIS or just pay at one of the moderates or skip and stay off site altogether as it is a bit pricey I'd love to stay at a resort because I like the idea of being in close proximity but with our family size it seems to up the price a fair amount and limit some choices. Any suggestions/comments/opnions -- anything :confused3

We liked Riverside, just because we like everything spread out and the evening walks along the paths. I like to explore, and the more buildings and paths the better! But if you prefer everything to be close by, the way to go would be French Quarter, much more compact.

We are a family of five. POR/AB holds families of five with the trundle. We spent 10 days in a AB room. After 10 days in that room we were not feelin the love for each other anymore:rotfl2: I still love POR though! After that trip we bought DVC:thumbsup2 ASMU has family suites that apparently hold 6 and are quite nice or you could get 2 value rooms if you want to spread out and depending on the age of your kids.:thumbsup2 Another option is to rent DVC points off an owner.
