I had asked a while ago if DVC did anything and was told that they had a reception on board but that was it. I'm not sure if it matters if your on a longer cruise or not, but it would be nice if they gave DVC members something "special".

We have sailed twice on our vacation points and have not received any "thank yous". THe first time was even in a cat 6 room and I think we used nearly 300 points for a 4 night cruise.

I'd heard they discontinued the champagne gift... a DVC non-drinker complained because they didn't get any benefit from the gift.

We cruised on points last december and are doing half cash half points this december. We did not get anything. Too bad I would have loved a bottle of champagne on our veranda.

We're DVC members. In October 2000 we took a 4-day on the Wonder and received a bottle of champagne in our stateroom. In December 2001 we went on the 7-day Magic Eastern and there was the reception in the afternoon on at-sea day and they gave everyone really nice white DVC hats. Sometime in between the two sailings I had heard they weren't giving anything in the stateroom and called. They said exactly what Dave_from_Marietta reported that a non-drinker called and complained. Some people :( , they have to spoil things for others.

Bummer-they could've just given it away if they didn't want it (to me :smooth: ). And tell me this, since when does DVC care about 1 person complaining? Maybe a larger group of individuals were unhappy? What about a replacement item (a tote, a towel, a small bouquet, a snickers bar,......) to acknowledge their "appreciation" that we used points to sail? Travel agents do (at least they did last time I used them for a cruise - 10 years ago) :D Doubt if they read this.

I too doubt that DVC reads this board. Maybe if a bunch of us emailed them they would care? I for one would sure like a free bottle. Our first cruise was through a TA and she sent us one but nada from DVC. I think they figure you are going to use your points regardless so why should they reward you?

When we cruised with DVC in '99 we got the bottle of champagne. We haven't gotten anything since. There is a DVC reception on the 7-day cruise.

Any DVC reception on a 4-day cruise?

How many DVC members are there? I could see if more than 1/2 complained of the champagne they would stop providing the free bottle. However, I'm sure that the percentage of those that want the bottle is greater than 50%.

How many members received the VWL pins and 09/11/01 pins? How many did not? I'm sure not every member received the VWL pins and DVC received complaints. Did that stop them from sending out 09/11/01 pins? How about the next DVC resort that is opening soon? Will they be sending pins to every member?

I hope no one will complain that they did not receive a pin, I would hate to have that stopped too.

Is the reception just for DVC members who book through DVC? We are going on a 7 day cruise in September and had it booked already before we became DVC members. Next year we plan to use our points for a 3 day cruise.

I have to agree with trishy. If the bottle was a problem then replace it with something else. As other's have mentioned, TA go the extra mile and IMO DVC is my personal TA.

Becoming a member has made it possible for me to give my family this great upcoming vacation despite the bad economic times so I am not complaining however I am still waiting to feel that "special magical" feeling that being a DVC member is suppose to bring. Atleast when you are at the resort you get the "welcome home" greeting :p

I don't think anyone would read it.

Last I knew, the DVC reception was only on the 7-day cruise. It is open to all members, not just those cruising on points.
It would be nice to get that bottle of champagne again!
I also would like a pin for the opening of the new resort. I don't know if they are sending pins though.

I think we would be surprised with the info Disney reads! I would venture to guess they keep an eye on a verierty of popular internet sites that Disney Fans flock to.

Well in that case Scottie..:D

Ahem...

To any DVC employees or agents that may be reading this.

We are booked on the 12/7/02 Western cruise. (This being our third Disney cruise in one and a half years- we are loyal!) It is my birthday week. I would love a bottle of champagne for my veranda but any old white wine will do if champagne is too much. Thanks for caring! The Morin family-ps we are in stateroom 5130 so you don't have to look it up.

I will let everyone know in December what it tasted like;)
