We did the East last Dec. and are doing the West this Dec. I LOVED the east, especially the two days at sea it took to get there. It was great to sit on the veranda and see the water getting lighter and the air more tropical. I know right now the western is more expensive because it is new. If you have already done the western I would try eastern. I would have gladly done eastern again but DH wanted to try something new. Ann

i have done both, but only the eastern on DCL. I prefer the western myself. One thing to consider is that since the western itinerary is new, the price runs a lot higher. I did some price checking, and for the same month alternating weeks, there was almost a nine hundred dollar difference for the same amount of people and same cat, so that is something to consider.

Hi, we have done both, the eastern in Oct. of 2000, and the Inaugural Western. We liked the Western better. There were so many choices of shore excursions, and we loved having 4 days to get off the boat. We thought the shopping was better on the Eastern, St. Martin has great prices if you are looking for jewelry... We thought the ports on the Western were so beautiful, Key West was fabulous! We have already rebooked for the Western next May. Hope this helps a little!!

Ooooo, you've just made it harder, LOL! I am having such a hard time chosing. It will be a first cruise for me. I'm leaning towards Eastern but my 10 yr. ann. falls on the Western dates. How to chose, how to chose.....

We have done both the Eastern and the Western, and the Western is the definite winner!!
Although I like the additional sea day on the Eastern, I really prefer the Western ports. I love Mexico, and there is so much to do in the Cozumel area. On our first Western cruise on RCCL, we went to Xcaret, and on our Disney Cruise we did the Jeep Safari Tour. Both were excellent, and I wouldn't hesitate to do either one again. Grand Cayman was spectacular...the snorkeling with stingrays is a must-do, and the amount and variety of fish we saw on the semi-sub was unbelievable. I didn't see nearly enough of Key West...while it's not an "exotic" port of call, it has so much character and history. We are already plotting our next Western, which we plan to book for January of 2002.
