Is anyone else having issues with their GMail accounts? I've tried logging in but for the past 24 hours or so all I get is the loading progress bar. :confused3

I've had trouble all day with it slowing down. Main trouble I've been having is with the Google Chat, which has stopped working off and on all day. Makes for chatting with the partner all day, quite difficult. I think he's having withdrawals. :lmao:

I must be cursed.
Although I just found out if you click the "HTML View" link it loads right up in (obviously) HTML mode. It's not quite a fun as the basic mode (no chat or emoticons) but at least it works. :thumbsup2

I've only used the chat feature a few times. If you absolutely have to send an email quickly, but the basic mode is slow, try the HTML mode. It seems to run very smoothly and very fast........but there's no chat in HTML. The partner will have to wait.

That was going to be my suggestion. Had a user at work that accessed a school's email which was provided by Gmail and she was having problems with it just sitting at the loading bar. I switched her to HTML view and had no problems since. Not sure what caused it and didn't research it further.

The HTML mode runs really fast, but is lacking all the bells and whistles. (No biggie.) I also noticed that after I waited on the load screen for a couple minutes I got an "Ooops, this is taking longer than usual" message where I was able to click a link that allowed me to disable one of the features (it had the word "lab" in it, but I don't remember what it was) which finally let it load up normally. :woohoo: Apparently the disabled feature wasn't too important because I didn't notice anything different once it loaded.

I hate Google. Ever since I got a virus embedded in a Google Ad banner. Well, that and Google admitting that they use your webcam, microphone, etc on your computer to spy on you so they can tailor their advertisements to you.

Um....actually, sweetums, that was me who tapped into your web cam. :flower3:
:rolleyes1
Seriously though, when I asked my friend why/how all my banner ads were related somehow to Columbus, Ohio he told me there's a way to adjust your cookies so that that doesn't happen. As for the web cam and microphone-tapping.....that's news to me. That's scary. :scared: That's almost worse than FaceBook using your credit card purchase info for their own marketing research.

Sorry it's the microphone, not the camera.

Talk about an invasion of privacy. We might as well face it.....in about 20 years our personal lives aren't going to be our personal lives any more.

Yeah. The camera thing is a worm that's been circulating online that will take over Google communicator, but it's not Google themselves.
Bill Gates likes to walk the edge of legality to make his money, and that's one of the reasons I don't like the man LOL

He should retire and stop making money.....I mean, I'm pretty sure his 46 mortgages are paid off by now. :lmao:
Macs tend to be a bit safer, depending on what applications and web sites you use. I'm sure there are ways to bypass the Mac safety features too.

Mine's an older eMac. It's a lot bulkier than the newer iMacs, even though the screen is pretty small. But it's all about girth, right? :confused3

You know what I just realized? I did a Goggle search via the search bar that is built into the top of my browser, and when I logged back into the DIS the banner ad at the top was 100% related to what I searched for.
