I just spoke to member services and was told that the current transfer policy is that

You can tranfer either in or out during year. However, if you choose to transfer out points, you can transfer as many times as you want, but you cannot have any points transferred in, until the following year.

Vice versa, if you choose to have points transferred in, you can have points transferred in as many times as you want, but you cannot transfer points out, until the next year.

The MS even gave me the managers' names whom she confirmed this policy.

Did anyone else know about this policy change? I always thought that you are only allowed for 1 transfer a year.

Thanks for the info, luckytso...

Someone else reported something similar to this a while back, but I'm glad to hear that MS has repeated it to someone else, with a manager's concurrence.

Can anyone guess what the motivation might have been for them to change this policy to its new structure?

I hope it's true, it would be a significant change and improvement from the stated policy. My suspicion is that the policy hasn't changed, only that someone (possibly a specific supervisor) is misinformed and the source for all of this info is that same person.

I had posted this before but a few months back when I was renting some points, someone contacted me regarding transfering points to his account. He was looking for a large number and he told me that he had already transfered two other times into his account and told me about the new policy. . I was thrown off by what he said and no one on this board could confirm it.

We never worked out a deal, so I never had reason to find out if he was on target or not.

It will be great if this is the case.

Can someone who has done more than one transfer confirm this policy?

The MS person I spoke to seemed to be fairly certain that this is the rule based on the internal e-mails she received recently and her conversation with her manager. She even gave me the names.

Will this mean that if you have 2 different contracts, you can

- use one to transfer in and one to tranfer out,
- transfer points between the two contracts
- exchange points with other members for different resorts
- facilitate renting/trading points
