View Full Version : AP Room-Only Release Date for Stays After June 6

Hi! I'm anxiously awaiting the room-only AP codes for this summer so that I can try to compare the cost of that vs. the 4/3 deal. We're staying at the Boardwalk in late June/early July and I know the AP rates for deluxes can be pretty substantial.
I was looking at the historical release information on Mousesavers and it looks as though the codes for the middle and late summer are normally released in early May. I did see, however, that it looks like the AP codes for April, May, and early June were released quite a bit earlier this year than in past years. Can we assume that the summer codes will be released earlier too?
Anyone else waiting?

I'm waiting...end of July...im booked at the AAA rate, but it's killing me, we need to save more $$$ or may need to cancel!

For most rooms the 4/3 deal will be as good or a little better then the typical AP rate. The real advantage is if you do not want to go exactly 7 days, want to do a split stay etc. The one exception to this is that the DVC studios are sometimes a larger discount than are the 4/3 deals.
I am waiting also to see if I can get an AP rate to be able to move from off site to on site on the weekend (party of 9)

We don't have AP's but I am watching for any deals you guys get because they could go public with them after you have first dibs :lmao:
We have the 4/3 booked on our package and I can't see a better deal coming out for that in our case but we do have a split stay (room only) at the WL and I would love to save a few bucks or be able to upgrade by getting one of these last minute codes~
So I am subbing this thread to keep an eye on codes coming out :thumbsup2

I am waiting for these too! We have the 4/3 deal but are only staying 6 nights so only getting 2 "free." I think with that, plus the fact that I really don't want to have 1-day base tickets, an AP discount might be better for me. Historically they have been released before the middle of May.

Poly was 303 for 4th of July week last year. AP rates were released right around the beginning of May but I don't remember exactly. I did have a ressie @ Boardwalk (week of 7/12) but we changed our mind and went w/ a different resort. IIRC, the AP rate was somewhere in the high $200. O know it was less than the Poly but not that much - $284 is sticking in my head but I can't say for certain. i do know that the AP rates were between 20&30% for the deluxes we looked into

Thanks! I'm glad to know I'm not the only one waiting. The thing with the discounts is not JUST the room savings. It's driving me crazy that DH and I are both paying for a 1 day ticket when we don't need to. Yes, I know, we can use it on a future trip, but that's just $145 that we don't want to spend right now if we don't have to. I hope the rates come out soon enough for us to be able to change our package if it ends up being a better deal. Our total balance is due on May 16. We do have 2 people traveling with us that don't have APs, but we're sharing a room, so we could all use our AP discount. They would lose out on the ticket savings, but it's only $9 so they're ok with that :)

I am waiting for an AP discount for July.
When I called to make my room only reservations two weeks ago
the CM said she expected the new AP discounts to come out mid April.
She said she didn't have any specific release dates, but thought
based on previous releases thats when she thought? we shall see- I hope so!

Ooooh...let's hope so! I was secretly hoping it would be this week because I'm a teacher and I'm on Spring Break this week. Normally when they're released I can't call until I get home from school and I sit there all day feeling so antsy. If it happened this week, I could call first thing in the AM :thumbsup2

Add me to the waiting list for the middle of June. We are booked 4/3, but are going for 8 nights. The typical AP discount for Pop would save us money over the 4/3 since we could drop the 1 day base tickets and get a discount on our extra night.
I just hope it comes out BEFORE I have to payoff my package at the end of this month :wizard:

If you own DVC (not sure if you are renting points), have you checked on a DVC discount? Its usually 25% off rack rate.

Oooh, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for April 20th! I'm waiting to make ressies for June 17-21 for my youngest's b-day trip. I've been thinking about just booking a room and then calling once the AP rates come out, but it really depends on what the rates are as to where I decide to stay!
I was looking for a short weekend at the end of May for Star Wars weekends, and the AP rates are great for studios at SSR and OKW, but I don't know that I'd like a studio any better than a moderate...
We may not do both trips, but I'm feeling guilty right now that DH can't come for our June trip because he's been told NO time off through August!

Hi guys.:)
We have 6 nights book at CBR from June 13-19. We have a trip booked in May (1-9) and are planning on getting APs once we get there. I'm thinking it might be cheaper to rebook the CBR reservation with an AP rate if there is one. I'm wondering though, do you need to have the annual pass while booking in order to get the discount? I can't figure out exactly how the logistics of AP discounts work.:headache:Can anyone help clue me in?

Anyone can book a room at the AP rate, but if you do not have the AP (or voucher) when you check in you will be charges the standard rack rate.
bookwormde
If you own DVC (not sure if you are renting points), have you checked on a DVC discount? Its usually 25% off rack rate.
I checked rates for studios and its just too high even with the discount. I need 2 studios for 6 people. Unfortunately, I didn't have enough of my own points for a 7 night stay, so I am staying DVC 5 nights. Unfortunately, its the first 5 nights, which might make the change to a value resort hard. I prefer to do value first then go DVC. I'm thinking bonnet creek as my backup, though I would really like an AP rate at CSR.
that's nice

If they release an AP rate for July, I am going to have a hard decision to make. I have July 1 booked at the Pop, and July 2-5 booked at the Dolphin. If the discount is good enough I would maybe want to switch to a Moderate for the whole trip. Though staying on the Boardwalk when the parks are so busy is a huge plus. So I don't know for sure what I'd do.:scratchin

This is encouraging.... I didn't even think to check Mousesavers historical discounts (I don't know why... I've done it a million times before)
I was thinking that they wouldn't release discounts for July after they released 'free dining' apparently I was wrong though.
We're booked in a 6 person suite at the Doubletree in DTD, but we might need a little extra space. We booked at an awesome rate, but apparently we got the last available room at our rate for our dates, so we can't get a second suite.
I was thinking that we could get a second room on the property somewhere, but I wasn't looking forward to paying rack rate. Some of us could then utilize EMH, and possibly do some version of a Dining Plan. I suppose it could cause problems when some people have to leave when the parks closed, but I figured my parents probably wouldn't want to stay out that late anyways. It'd be more for fun for my younger brother and sister.
Bring on the AP rate...my AP needs more mileage on it!

We're in the same boat as many of you. We are staying 10 nights in June so the 4/3 is only "ok" for us (Pay for 7 get 3 free)- but better than nothing.
Sadly, my package "pay in full date" is late next week, so if AP rates don't come out soon I'd have to pay a penalty to cancel the package....

I thought that the one day tickets do not expire as long as they are not used and you can exchange them toward the price of an AP or any other upgraded ticket at a future date.
We too are going in mid June with the 4/3 deal and also booked 10 days. I am planning to turn our tickets into AP's when we arrive. If you book the 4/3 you can't combine it with an AP rate can you???

No, I'm pretty sure you can't combine the 4/3 and an AP rate. If they were to come out with AP rates in time, I would compare the two and if AP were better, then re-book with the AP and cancel the 4/3 package.
It's great if the 1-day tickets don't expire - I guess I may have just assumed they were tied to the package and would expire. Does anyone know if you can have them as separate ticket media and not part of the room key?

Yes, when you check-in ask them to place the tickets to be on paper tickets for a future use. They should not expire and can be used to upgrade your annual pass at a later date.

I have a question (on my own thread :rotfl:.) We're staying in a Deluxe Concierge level room at the Boardwalk this summer. When we've used AP rates in the past they've never been for a room of this cost/level. Do the rates normally include these types of rooms, or are they excluded from any sort of discount? Thanks!

I think sometimes you still have to pay the different between the room levels. So you can get a discount on a standard room, but still have to pay the difference between standard and concierge.

Historical Info:

So far this year:

So actually, they've changed the span of dates because last year it was a rate good for May-August :confused3

She said she couldn't say, Then I asked spy like questions to get her to talk, she said If not tomorrow, in the next three days for AP Resort discount and possible room only discount. She kept saying very, very close, I think she acted more like in the next three days, Wed 23 is Earth Day, maybe that day, either way it's this week according to her. Exciting, At least it's coming to a close, so everyone here can relax and enjoy the anticipation for Disney.:cool1:
Happy planning,

I'm bummed because I have to work at 6am tomorrow. So I won't know if they do release the AP rates until 230 in the afternoon.:sad1:
Do you think it would be wrong to e-mail my Dreams Unlimited TA tonight and ask her to make a reservation for me tomorrow IF they release the AP rates? You know, say something like "I have to work tomorrow. Could you get me a quote at the Contemporary if Disney releases an AP rate in the morning?" Would that be bad?
No. My TA probably would have appreciated it if I had simply waited until the discounts were released before I booked my stay. I called her and e-mailed her a million times the day the AP discounts for January were released, then when the 4-3 deal was announced, I called her and e-mailed her another million times before I decided to keep my AP discount.
Oh and I suppose that answers the question of the other poster who asked about the 9 nights.
Our savings between an AP discount and the 4-3 deal turned out to be about the same. Basically buy 6, get 3 free.
Also, we were being offered the $500 Gift Card (I think it was $500...) along with the 4-3 deal, which is what was going to make up the difference.
Otherwise the AP affords much higher savings.
For the GF...a Standard room on the 4-3 deal would be $2400 and with an AP discount of 40% the total would be $2160.
However, buying an AP just to get the discount only makes sense if you're planning another trip within a year. If not, then the savings are basically a wash, because you'll be paying approximately double for your tickets.
It may have been better for us to use the 4-3 deal afterall, because they released the Military Salute information the day we got to Disney this year. We would have gotten the savings from the 4-3 deal, then still been able to go back during the year my DH getting in free and me on a $99 ticket. Plus we would have had the Gift Card and been able to get 40% off anyways since he's military.

We're planning a trip to the Poly sometime in 9/09 but haven't been able to iron out the details yet. Given we've already missed the 4/3 deals, is it possible there's benefit to becoming an AP member, even it's for a single trip? If I've read all the information correctly, and we haven't had any other room discounts to apply there could be significant cost savings?:woohoo:
Thanks!

I wonder how far ahead the dates will go. Will it be through the month of August? I'm interested in late August, but in the past, the discounts that included July, seemed to end at the very beginning of August/late July, until the next batch would come out. tink

You could book the free dining discount for September of this year. Depending on how many people you have in your party it can be a huge savings. :teacher:

Do they always come out in the morning?
Let's speculate a little: Do you think the rates will match those for up to June 6th? I am trying to figure out wht is really best for us. We know we will have 2 trips but that will only add up to 12 park days. So kind of a wash with the 4/3 deal without the room discount.
Of course IF I get the AP my mission for the rest of the year will be MORE trips! So that either helps the cost or hinders it depending on your perspective! ;) Me:  DH: :scared1:

Another speculator here. I am also trying to figure out what the rates could be based on the up2June6 rates, lol. Trying to decide on a resort, which, to me, is probably one of the biggest thrills of the whole planning process. I want to decide soon and actually since I am planning for the end of August, I don't know if the new batch of AP rates will include that time frame. I sure hope so, or I will just have to book soon without AP and see if anything comes up for AP later and if not, at least I'll be set.

They usually come out first thing in the morning and they have usually come out on Wednesdays. However, they have thrown us a few curve balls in the past - I can remember one time they released them at like 10:30 in the morning. It's always better to check and have to wait than to not check and miss it.

I think the discount will probably be similar. Though the discount through 6/6 is a little better than what was offered for January, so it's possible that the next discount might be a little better, especially if it includes into value season when crowd levels are lower anyways

We're DVC members too (new ones) and I didn't realize you could get a DVC discount on rooms. We are going 4 times this year! Twice on DVC points, once on free dining and once for a short 4 day trip in August to pick up our daughter from FL. The short 4 day trip in August is the one I need a discounted room for. We are AP holders and DVC members. What is the best way to book to get the cheapest rate possible?

The AP rate would be better than the DVC discount. The DVC discount is usually about 20% off and the AP discount off a deluxe resort could be 40% off.

Hi, DVC Members can get discounted rooms at DVC resorts. I believe it is 25%,and AP rates are usually better. But AP rates are not always available on the room type or DVC resort that you may want. When you book a DVC discounted room you DO NOT pay anything upfront, it is paid at check-in. And there is a cancelation policy of so many days to cancel (but I cannot quite remember it at this time:sad2:) So for your short trip you may be able to book a DVC resort at a discount through Member Services and then cancel if you find a better deal with an AP rate at a DVC resort or any other resort. :) Joan

I'm pretty sure the change fee for a package within 45 days is $50, but I'm not sure how they handle switching to an AP rate. Technically, switching to an AP requires cancellation of your original ressie, and rebooking with a new confirmation number.
I'm surprised they didn't release an AP discount by now, considering anyone who is beginning their vacation on June 7th will have to pay in full by tomorrow. They usually have released rates at least 45 days before the first date possible for booking with it.
disneyfan55
04-23-2009, 08:57 AM
I think if it's a room only reservation, the extra days most likely should be seperate, you should have no problem changing. For room only cancellation is usually 5 days, that would mean changes. I wouldn't think the room only portion is due by the 45 day mark. We had 2 reservations similar to this last year 2 days room only and the rest a FD package. For the room only portion we had to pay the 1 day deposit and pay the other while there, the FD had to be paid when booked in full since it was within the 45 day timeframe. There shouldn't be any problem with this since actually the FD portion of our reservation was a room only first and when the FD for Disney Visa holders came out we changed the room only to the Free dining. We did have 2 reservations all along since the first 2 days were on one AP code and the second portion a new code Sept 27, 2008 ended the first code and Sept 28 a new one started. That was the only way to get the AP discount.
Anyone have any new guesses on when the AP rates might be released? I checked mousesavers for historical release dates and the 2008 release date was May 7th. That was for AP rates starting at the end of May through early August!
I'm seriously starting to think we are looking at mid May. Sigh! :sad2: Oh well. Nothing to do but wait..... and wait......and wait.........!

Last year the room-only AP rates for May 26-August 2 were released on May 7. I'm assuming they'd be released around the same time this year. I guess they won't be early (or at least not super early) at this point. As long as they're out before my balance is due on May 14 I'll be a happy camper :thumbsup2

OK, here's the history:
Last year - released on May 7 (a Wednesday)
2007 - released on May 16 (a Wednesday - only for Mods and Deluxes/DVC)
2006 - they were only released for Deluxes/DVC on 2 different dates 5/17 (a Wednesday) & 6/8 (a Thursday)
So based on past history, it seems as though they are frequently released on Wednesdays, which would mean my guess is either this Wed (4/29) or next Wed (5/6.)
Just a thought :thumbsup2

I'm pretty close to doing exactly that. I don't want to risk missing out on the room category, and it's not like I won't have the opportunity to cancel/change in plenty of time if I don't like the rate.

Yes you should book it now. I just changed resorts to AKL from POR and the CM told me to book AAA and when the AP comes out, more than likely they will be able to apply the code to your current reservation. Otherwise, the room catagory you want may already be booked. Already, the room catagory I wanted at AKL was booked so I chose something a little more pricey (yikes). Now there is no guarantee that it will be available but I have never had a problem switching from AAA to AP. The only problem I have had is if I decide to upgrade resorts when making the switch and the resort does not have availabilty in the room catagory I am looking for. The one problem with this is if no AP code comes out for the room you booked, your stuck with AAA or having to rebook into a different resort/room catagory.

Yes, and the actual date range of the code ended on May 22. We used it and that was the last day, not thru June 6 like this year. They waited until May 7 to release the end of May code/ beginning of June code for whatever reason.

Let's keep our fingers crossed that the rates will be out in the morning! We have to figure at this point it will either be tomorrow or next Wednesday, just looking at it from a historical point of view. The AP rates are released on Wednesdays, and even though discounts have been released at earlier dates this year, last year's AP for June was released at the beginning of May.
So...."hopefully" tomorrow, but maybe another WHOLE week to wait!

Free dining begins August 16th, so you should probably try to get the 2nd week instead of the third week in August if possible.
Last year...the Annual Passholder rate for 5/26 thru 8/2 was released on 5/7/08. The AP rate for 8/3 thru 9/27 was released on 6/18.

Looking to stay at Beach Club or Poly next summer.

The WDTC/CRO CMs don't necessarily know more than "we" do, some of them apparently are sub-contractors who aren't in Florida and work out of their homes. They don't have a better pipeline to what's coming out than DIS'ers or folks who keep an eye out for news on MouseSavers. In the past I've called in a time or two, knowing that a new rate is out and the CM right away has tried to tell me that nothing's available. I ask them to please check, saying a friend got a great rate or whatever. Lo and behold, I'm right. WDW is just as full of rumours for CMs as it is for Guests.
I'm with you. We'll keep our APs and we'll still be going in June, but golly-gee, some better room-rates would be nice!

Well, I live in Orlando. :rotfl2: But I have a friend visiting at the end of June so we both were going to make it a WDW vacation for us both! We were going to do 5 nights at the Poly. But for rack rate, we will just stay at my house and drive to the parks every morning. Its only 25 miles. A group rate via Magical Vacations travel agency for the Poly, Beach Club and Boardwalk. It includes CL rooms in some cases as well. You can find more info on the TA site. It worked well for me because I could still save quite a bit for CL while splitting my stay between 2 resorts (which I couldn't do on the 4/3 deal).

But the good news is Royal Caribbean is having a Wow sale today so I guess I'll cruise for my Nov Birthday trip! :dance3:
I wanted the AP to go to the Food and Wine Festival in Nov but I gotta go with who is giving the best deals for the money. I love both so it is all good.
Really too bad for Disney cause I really like to fit in extra trips with that AP. Would have done Nov., then again next summer and anytime the air fare would allow. ;) Oh well. They don't really care - they have plenty of people. Thanks for letting me fuss about it though.
