View Full Version : Fat Free/Low Fat food on board
Although it sounds ridiculous to ask (the menus are soooo enticing) I am on a special fat free/low fat diet by doctor's orders. Will the chefs prepare food on the menu differently for me if I ask the server when I order (ex. grilled(not sauted), no cream sauce) etc. or do I have to request in advance?
Also, where on the ship can I get fat free icecream/yogurt? skimmed milk?
All the buffets and resturants seem to have fresh fruit and salad so I won't starve, but hopefully I can find a low fat choice on the menus. Anyone else have this problem????? Any eating places on the ship that has more than one low fat choice for me?
Thanks for all your help.

I eat a low fat diet as well (although I didn't really stick to it as much on the cruise) and you will find that your servers will be very helpful and accommodating.
If you truly have a MEDICAL need for a low fat diet I would let the ship know in advance. If you're just trying to eat healthy then you can wait until you're onboard. Every night at dinner they have grilled chicken and steak (no sauce) as an option, and many nights I get the grilled chicken. It comes with steamed or grilled vegetables and a baked potato, which you can eat without butter. Skim milk is available at the buffets and you can get it at any meal as well.
I don't eat dessert so I don't know if they offer low fat or non-fat ice cream or yogurt...I tend to think they do NOT offer it, but it's worth finding out.
Have fun! :)

I've been told they do offer sugar-free desserts on the cruise.

Oh, those infamous sugar-free desserts! ;) One night on the Wonder last year, the server brought it to me (he knows I don't eat dessert, even those that are sugar-free) and it was BLUE JELLO with some disgusting unknown fruit in it! It was good for a laugh, anyway, which is why he brought it out! :)
Actually I think they do have some decent sugar-free desserts but that doesn't mean they are necessarily low fat, unfortunately.
