I have been to WDW 6 times in the past few years (2 in 05, 2 in 06 and 2 in 07). All but the first trip in 2005 was using the DDP (the old version which included appetizer and tip).

Fast forward to this year and I am going in June for my birthday with my BFF (best friend forever - well at least 20 years so I'm just assuming...).

At first I was going to upgrade to an AP and get the TiW cards because I was planning on a couple more trips within the 1 year period.

Now I've decided not to go during free dining but will be going in October - except that I have 5 day park hoppers left over from 2006 that I can use for that trip. I may or may not take another trip next spring so I feel like the AP isn't a good way to go right now.

Being so hot in June, most counter service is out of the question since when I am that hot, I don't want to eat BUT by the time I've sat down in a restaurant, had a cold pop and am ready to order, I'm fine.

Right now the dining I have booked comes out to around $850 (about 9 or 10 sit down meals over 8 days including a birthday cake). Adding the DxDDP plan would come to about $1152 for the two of us for the 8 nights.

I want to add the DxDDP but am having trouble getting past the "too much food" and "too many tips".

Just somebody please tell me to do, enjoy my week of constant dining (and ordering room service) and not to worry - it will make the trip a little more carefree since I can order whatever, whereever.

Please and thank you :hippie:

Let me be the first - shut up and get the DxDP!!! I did. After looking at all the yummy places to eat, I upgraded and don't regret it one bit. Why?

1. Appetizers!!! With the DxDP you get an app. with every lunch and dinner TS. I love appetizers.

2. I don't really like CS. I like to sit down and relax and let someone wait on me. Then you go back to the park refreshed.

3. 2 TS credits - I don't feel as though I'm "wasting" my credits. We are going in July for 10 days and have 4 2TS nights planned - Aloha, CA Grill, Narcoossee's and Flying Fish.

4.Breakfast! Sometimes you just want a nice big breakfast. Sometimes you don't.

5. For my 12 year old - double the snack credits! I don't have to say "no" all the time.

6. Face it - the food is better at the TS resturants. And it's really not that much more money.

Did I convince you?

Well, since you're going in June you might not be able to get enough good TS ressies to justify the DxDDP. I'd call and see if I could get ressies before I upgraded. But that said, we are going Deluxe in June, our first time on deluxe and I am very excited. Having gone to WDW many times in the past the park is just not the "main" focus on this June trip. I'm going to relish eating at all the places I never go because I couldn't justify the cost/eating up all that valuable park time!

Get the deluxe dining plan. We are trying it in August. I don't like most CS places. We like having a nice breakfast in the morning, as well as dinner. I usually ended up paying for at least 8 meals OOP anyway. With deluxe, I don't have to worry about using up the snack credits as fast, and we are finally trying 2TS restaurants!! I'm excited about it. If you don't end up liking it or thinking it was worth it, then next trip don't get it. Enjoy!!!:)

If you're traveling in October, maybe you can start your vacation on the last day of the free dining - you still get free dining (DDP) as long as you start your vacation by the last day of the free dining offer! I think it is through October 4? So you could start on October 4 (or 3, 2, 1) and stay as long as you want to and you will still get the free dining - if you do that, upgrading to the deluxe is it's cost minus the cost of the free dining.....so instead of $71.99 an adult, you only have to pay $32 per night for deluxe ($71.99 - $39.99) --- we almost did this option, but decided to go 9/19 to 10/3 instead....but I did cost out the other option we were looking at, which was 10/3 to 10/17.....we decided not to go then since Columbus Day is on the 12th and it'll be a bit more crowded (we think) than if we go earlier!

Last year we opted for the deluxe and definitely ate more than we spent for the plan.....it's really hard to eat that much food, so this year we're actually doing a TS for an early lunch and then eating at signature locations for dinner that cost 2-TS most nights.....we'll do some character meals again and breakfast the day we check-out, but we'll be eating in a lot of the two credit restaurants for meals and based on what I've calculated, we'll be eating more than we're spending by a huge margin!

Okay - I took the plunge.

I called disney dining and booked many, many, many, many (did I say many??) ADR's for the period of June 26 - July 4 and then added the DxDDP to my reservation.

I had no problem getting any reservation right around the time I asked for including the Princess Breakfast at Norway, California Grill (but not at fireworks time), Flying Fish, Yachtsman Steakhouse, Artist Point, Ohana breakfast and many others.

I kept my previous ADR's for Sci Fi lunch and dinner at Le Cellier since I thought those two would be impossible to rebook (and they are still in okay spots in my plans).

Now I just have to wait for the end of June.....And go back and look at some of the menus for places I booked to make sure that they are the ones I truly want.

Thanks the opinions and for the "shut ups" sometimes it's nice to hear from others who have done what you want to do and it worked out well for them.

good I'm glad you going to try it ...
I thought about upgrading to Dxddp
but after much thought i picked a room upgrade at a better resort was a better choice this year for me..
