...i do. the year was 1988. we had to drive over 500 miles

...as i was young naval officer stationed in penscola, fla.

our boys were very young & we "thought~ since we're in
fla...let's run over to wdw? on the weekend. :scared:

magic kingdom~
...there was a terrible thunderstorm..driving us inside. by
happenstance....we came across....pluto. he was our youngest
son's favorite. so they got some "downtime"...as we waited out
the storm.

* we also had a family :dog: , a golden retriver, named "pj"

{ our sons' names...are joseph & patrick = "pj". }

sometimes, i think..alot disney memories..were meant to be. pixiedust:

...we were not rich back then. [ my wife was in college for nuclear med].

....& we started from scratch....where our aprtment wasn't as big as
our living room, of today. so we told the boys..they could chose one
gift. naturally , my son..had to have a stuffed.....pluto. then he
saw..a "pluto" pin. it looked like junk..but he was very persistent.
:yay: +,

while that pin..isn't anything fancy, it is his favorite wdw's "treasure".

..in 99, after having a big surprise, a lil' princess:. my wife begged/
pleaded, and scheduled ....a family trip + cruise. all i could think
of..yuk, crowds.

when we entered the wildness lodge.....i was all pouty. but a very
insightful cast member....spotted my daughter, and gave her a
laynard & some special /princesses' pins.

so thats' how we got "hooked". :wizard:

* note , our golden retriver, was some kind of special..he lived over
16 years, & never wanted to leave. [ on the day he passed, he got up
.....and took 2 hrs..walking to the end of our driveway, laying
down one last time @ his guard position. ]

..i grew up in the same town of "roy rodgers", who came back many
times. [ we have him on our old home 8mm movies. ( bell& howell)

...he always...said, " a country boy isn't country, without his dog."

pluto..will always be close to our hearts, pluto:

That is a great story!!!! Thank You for sharing it with us. :)

I do remember my first pin but that's because it was only a few years ago. It was a 50th Anniversary pin, it's framed and hung on our wall with some of our pins. :)

I bought my first pin in 2004. While it's just a rack pin that I've seen at Disneyland many times since, it is a special pin because it's a frame of vintage Mickey and Minnie looking at a black and white photograph of Walt.

The first pin I bought that I remember was the Disney Stores 101 series Walt & Mickey back in Nov of 99.

A Mickey Mouse pin. Retail was $3.95 and it came on a gray jewelry card instead of the black pin card.

Yes, when we went to WDW for christmas 2005 my best friend bought me my lanyard and a Jessica Rabbit pin (there was a joke about someone at work and Jessica Rabbit). I told him then he shouldn't have done that as I had resisted pin trading up to that point!!

Ah yes, how the madness all started. It was October 1999. I went down to WDW to get the photomosaic set of pins of SE using Fantasia cels. They had sold out of some of the jigsaw puzzle pin pieces, so I walked away. Oh if I had only listened to myself. Later passing Pin Central, I decided since I couldn't get what I wanted, I'd get a much less expensive (oh how I fooled myself) single pin of the Chernabog from Fantasia.

Yes, in June of 2002 and it was FREE. It is a round pin with Mickey in the center and it says Neat and Pretty around the outside of the circle. We had a package at the Carribean Beach and each of us got to choose a free pin from the gift shop (from a limited choice of course) I still have it.

....& "that" simple event..explained 95% of the "junk"~~

~~"treasures"....that now can be found...in our basement.

ever seen the war of the roses? we "need"...to downsize the

collecting.....but the debate?...whose stuff should go? :lmao:

[ my wife's has the "junk"..& i have the "treasures", ie,

vince & larry figures..{ before the gover't stopped production}

..& the orginal power rangers....in the triangluar boxes- ]

so , i need...someone...to tell me....these things...are going to

"pay"...for an early retirment, :rolleyes1, [ rationization , mankind

#1 coping skill, :wizard: ]
