My question is - last year I used a 9 inch tv/vcr combo in my Windstar for the kids - worked great. This year I'd like to hook up the nintendo to it too - is there anything out there that hooks it for power? I used the lighter adapter for the tv - any ideas?

Hi redbirdgrad,
I did this for my kids on our last
trip. We have a playstation but
I think it would work the same.
I went to sams club and bought
a power converter. It plugs into the
lighter and converts DC power (van)
to AC power(home). You just plug the
wires from the nintendo into the TV then
plug the nintendo power cord into the
converter. It worked well for us.

Thanks, By chance do you remember how much the power converter cost you? It seems I'm at Sams club every three days anyway.

We bought a power converter at Target in early April and paid about $56. There was a less expensive one, but we chose the one with multiple plugs in it so that the kids could plug in the playstation and I could plug in my laptop. It really worked great!

Hi again,
The one we got was around $ 30.00 to $40.00 and
had 2 plugins on it. I think it was a 400 to 500 watt.
Good luck.

Also, dont forget to check out the *AMPerage* of the power converter. Amps are the number you must compare against the fuse for your cig-lighter. We had to 'upgrade' from 10 amp to 12 amp in the cig fuse, BUT BE SURE TO CHECK WITH YOUR CAR DEALER FIRST TO MAKE SURE SUCH AN AMPERAGE INCREASE WILL NOT OTHERWISE HARM YOUR CAR'S ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Enjoy your drive to the Mouse House.

Also dont forget the earphones if the tv has an outlet. The sounds of Nintendo or Playstation are not easy listening during a long drive!
