On an upcoming San Diego trip we're staying at the Manchester Grand Hyatt, but attending an event at the Hilton Bayfront, it looks like the two are fairly close together, but is it walking distance with kids? If it is walking distance, is it a good/safe area for walking? Any assistance will be greatly appreciated. :)

Its an okay area, I don't think that I would want to walk around after dark. A taxi or the hotels have courtesy vans that can take you to the other hotel.

Its a pretty reasonable walk in an area thay dosn't have sidewalks along some portions of the street. You could walk along the bay, past the convention center, to get there. Here are the two maps that show the distance.

Thanks! No sidewalks with kids might be a bit :scared1:, we'll have a car but the Hilton parking is $21.00 so I think a taxi may be the cheapest way to go. Thanks again.

no problem, The hotel van might even give you a quick lift!

Another option would be to take the Orange SD Trolley line. Pick up the trolley at the Seaport Village Station, get off at the Gaslamp Quarter Station, then walk over to the Hilton.

http://www.sdmts.com/Trolley/Trolley.asp

Day passes are $5.00 which is good for all trolley trips and every Saturday & Sunday, two children 12 and under ride free with any paying passenger 18 and over.

The Google maps linked in a previous post should have the trolley stations marked in blue which will give you an idea of where the stations are relative to the hotels. HTH!

Thanks! Between the trolley or hotel van, I think we're set! The DIS rocks, it's always so helpful! Thanks again!

We were just in San Diego at a convention this past week, staying at the Marriott Bayside Marina, which is in between the Hyatt and the Convention Center. I don't recall any part of the walk from the Hyatt to the Hilton along the road that didn't have a sidewalk--I recall nice broad sidewalks the entire length. You can also walk along the boardwalk, though that area does tend to lose sidewalks just before you get to the convention center.

The convention center is quite long, so the walk will be farther than it looks on the map. It is very doable though. We were there during a large convention, but even walking at 11 pm was still crowded. We walked that area several nights and never felt unsafe.
