Ok SO I am finally starting this, and we leave in less than two months!
So this is how it started. My wonderful father FORGOT his and my mom's wedding anniversary last May. Yes, after 31 years of marraige, he forgot. SO, least to say he wa sin the doghouse big time.
A few months pass and DH and I go on our September trip. Upon returning home, I must plan another trip (this is just what I do people!) So, in my scheming, I figured out a way for my dad to get out of the doghouse. They could come with us for a big fun trip this summer. They were all for it. Then we decided to invite my non vacation going sister and her DH. They are homebodies, so I am suprised the every agreed. they started out just going 3 nights but changed it to 4. my parents are going 5, and we are going 7. (we booked the 4 nights 3 free so said "why not")
So here is our cast
DD :eeyore:(this will be "disney dad" and NOT disney daughter in my trip report!) he will be 54 this month. Him and I share the same quick wit and sense of humor. He is very impatient though and does not like to wait in lines. He owns his own business and I am surprised he is coming for 5 nights!
DM ::MinnieMo (disney mom) is 53. She is a Christmas baby, and likes to tell everone her entire life story. She never meets a stranger. She is one of those sickningly sweet people who never gets mad and would give you the shirt off her back. She is very excited about this trip because well, she loves disney like me. and she isnt a complainer so my DD will complain about the lines enough for the both of them. my mom works for my dad and part time at TJ Maxx, where she promptly spends her entire paycheck :sad2:
DS :tigger:(disney sister) Just turned 26 this week. thinks she is Peter Pan and will never grow up. She is a literacy coach for public schools. She is one of those people you want to be on your side when there is a fight. a good word for her is "feisty". She is strong willed like my dad but not to great in the quick wit/common sense department. My DD likes to say she is on "tape delay" but we still claim her....most days. She doesn't get the disney obsession but is along for the ride.
DBIL pooh:(disney brother in Law) my sister husband, 30 years old. is a financial numbers guy (he's like Chandler on Friends, no one really knows what he does.) He hasn't been to Disney since he was ten and they *gasp* stayed off property. So he is in for a real treat. He is a mellow kinda guy who just goes with the flow. I am hoping to make an addict out of him but it will be a challenge.
DH :goofy: oh poor sickly, well, lets hope he doesnt get sickly! we have been good on the past two trips! DH will be 26 this summer. He is a recent law school grad and avid online gamer. I am thankful to be able to pull him off of world of war crack-- I mean warcraft to come to disney. The boy goes to eat. He LOVES to eat and would probably eat our dogs if there was no food left in the house. I am slowly but surley turning him into a disney freak and he is excited about this trip.
and then there is me.:tink:I will be 24 this summer. I teach 5th grade. It is exhausting but I can't see myself doing anything else. I have always loved disney, especially the princesses, and am an avid trip planner. half the fun for me is in the planning and the excitement leading up to the trip. I have already created my color coded spreadsheet for this trip if that gives you any indication of my loyalty to disney. I love volleyball and basketball and have coached both and I have recently taken up running and ran in my first 8k last weekend. I also love my two toy poodle babies, Sassy and Bella. They will be staying with their aunt and uncle and "cousin" dogs while we are gone. they came over last night for a play date and it went well! Anyway, so I am anxiously awaiting summer because, well, its summer and I get paid to not work, and because of my trip! Thanks for joining me on this experience! I will update as often as I can!
------------------------------------------
Ok, main details:
me and DH arrive day 1
DD and DM arrive day 2
DS and DBIL arrive day 3
the four of them leave on the same flight home on morning of day 6
DH and I leave day 8 after 7 nights.
we will be celebrating my parents anniversary (we will be there on the actual day) and DH's bday which we will miss by a couple days. close enough!
we have 3 standard rooms booked in the main building of the Grand Floridian, Royal Palm club. Everyone is on the dining plan, but DH and I are on the Deluxe plan.
I will update soon with more plans and our ADr's! but for now, here is a couple pics of all of us

Hey, Heather! I'm intrigued by the mob you'll be traveling with. I've always felt like at Disney, the more the merrier ... but it does have its own challenges!
We'll be down there May 17 for a few days, so if there's any "recon" work we can do for y'all, let me know. We're meeting another couple from Jacksonville and their kids down there (I'm their former youth minister ... makes me feel like a real geezer), so we'll have a big party, too.

I'm in too. I will be in FL for 10 days in May, but will be in Naples for my DD wedding, so close to Disney, but it will have to wait for another trip. I always love your food reports, and take on the world. Group travel sure does have it's challenges.

ADR's for our trip
ok, so, this was a challenge because we are on teh deluxe plan and my parents and sister and BIL are on regular. So DH an dI are eating lunches alone (a probbaly needed break from the family) and eating dinners with everyone. I think it will work out well like this.
Arrival day:Late Lunch at the Plaza (we have never been here and wanted to try it. it's also one of the only places open for lunch late, since we will be arriving to WDW late)
Dinner: CRT. I havent been here since 2003 when it was a 1 TS credit. I want DH to experience eating in the castle. We are also tring to tackle all the 2 TS restaurants so we have to try it out together.
First Full Day: my parent's anniversary.
they will arrive in the late morning and DH and I will eat alone and then meet up with them at the MK.
Lunch:LTT. this is another "we have never been here so what the heck" kind of decisions.
Dinner: Narcoossees for my parents "anniversary dinner" just the 4 of us obvsiously since the rest of the group won't come in till the next day.
I will have to post the rest later. gtg get supper ready!

Sounds good so far! We haven't ate at the plaza so I am kind of curious about that one. I know a few people that have ate there and liked it. You'll have to let me know what you guys think. :thumbsup2 We've ate at the castle on all three of our trips. The first trip dh proposed, the second one we did breakfast with the princesses and this past trip we did dinner. I wish I could remember the name of our waiter because he was awesome in Jan! :thumbsup2 I hope you guys enjoy dinning the in the castle!!:goodvibes

so I think they *finally* have my ADR's right and I have all my conformation numbers.
I got my mom a baggallini for mother's day, a lime green one of course. Thats what she wanted!
I am considering making us all matching t-shirts, but I am really not a "crafty" sort of person so I don't know if that will happen!

i got dh a baggallini for christmas b/c I knew he probably didn't want to carry my pink one around :lmao: It actually worked out because I didn't have to carry mine as much...I usually just put it in the locker. There was a method to my madness...I didn't want to be the one carrying the heavy camera haha I'm sure your mom will love hers! Also I don't know if its an option, but ya'll could always go to design a tee in dtd. :goodvibes

All you ADRs sound great! My DH LOVE to eat as well. The only part of the trip he truly cares about is where we eat every day. Someday we will do the DDP and he will truly be in heaven. The boy could eat all day! We are also doing the breakfast buffet at Boma during our June trip. Again, the DH couldn't be happier:goodvibes

Heatherlynn,
Nope, we haven't done the deluxe plan yet. It does seem like a lot of food and is a bit overwhelming. I have accepted there is no way that we can eat 3 table service meals a day, but DH is a big breakfast person and loves the buffets, so we are giving it a try. I am hoping to get to some two table service meals as well. :thumbsup2

if i were you I would not do more than one day of 3 TS meals. we did it and I thought i would throw up. the other days we did a late breakfast buffet and an early 2 TS dinner. this worked much better!

Dang. Every time I've checked Southwest, I've not found anything under $192 one way per person. $1300 just for the three of us to fly round trip!! :scared1: That's why we're still planning on driving. I can't swing the trip and another $1300 for airfare.

So excited to see you are doing another trip report. I lurked on most of your other reports, but thought I would say hi  this time. I stayed at the GF in September with my daughters, mom and grandmom, and your other reports had me so excited for that trip and provided a lot of valuable info. I will be headed back the end of May with my husband and father also in tow. Alas, this time we will be slumming it at BCV ;) My 9 year old daughter isn't so sure that anything will live up to the GF though - she is totally spoiled.
Can't wait to read more!

I am cheap. also, if we do it there the guys wont want to. but if i do it for them ahead of time they wont ahve a choice!

Haha, that is so funny. Yeah I can only imagine what Disney would charge. What about if you go on the Disign threads? They might be able to make a design for you and then you could do an iron on transfer.

that's what I have done, but I have never done iron ons before. the huge list of instructions on the designs forum is so intimidating! very scary haha. tlaking about light and dark transfers, fliping your image, etc.

I'm going to play around with some iron-on's this weekend, I think. Another poster on the DISigns board did some stick figures for me for our trip next year and I want to work on getting those on the shirts this weekend. I'll let you know how they turn out. If they're not too hard (can't be THAT hard) I may can help you if you'd like ;)

Heather, a couple of years ago there were eleven of us who went to WDW, and Teresa got some nice heavyweight white T-shirts for everyone. I designed some shirts on Microsoft Publisher, and used the iron-on "kits" that I think HP makes - got 'em at Office Depot. They looked pretty terrific, and we got lots of comments from CM's. Easy!
Lordy, I sounded just like a girl with that post.
We are in definite coundown mode - we'll leave May 17th. I'm pumped, big-time ... we'll be among the first to be staying at the new Kindani Village at AKL. I wanted to try Sanaa, the new restaurant there, but I looked at the menus and knew the rest of the fam would balk.

I love the idea of postcard to your parents. I am sure it will add to the excitement of staying at the Grand.
I am sorry I do not have a creative bone in my body, but you might want to check the Creative DISigns Board for ideas on tag and shirt ideas.

Heather, I plan on doing a full-blown trip report, so, yeah, I should have lots of pictures. But the rest of the fam is totally freaked whenever I try to take photos of food. I don't think they've quite caught on to the fact that in DISWorld, food photos are embraced by all.
I AM excited about taking Amy's boyfriend (well, as excited as I can be about any guy  ) because it's his first trip to WDW ever. Poor kid just never got out of Laurel much. :rotfl2:
Just a little more than two weeks for us. Yee-haaaah!

i was nervous at first but after the first one it was really easy! I still have more designs and I want to dos eomthing else but I am not sure what. luggage tags? I am at a loss.
I buy the 3M brand luggage tags, you can add stickers along with the address cards. (I actually print the address with my printer, then cut it small enough to fit in the card, then add stickers of your choice.) Simple inexpensive little gift for everyone. :wizard:

Heather,
If you don't find the luggage tags at Walmart try Walgreens or Target. I shop at those stores more frequently. One year I did theme park tags, i.e. mine was MGM, my Mom's was Epcot. Another year I did Halloween stickers for our MNSSHP trip. This past year I gave my DSIL and her girls princess themed tags. They hold up well, and are fun to have.
Have fun creating your own designs..........
