Hello-

My life has been in a bit of turmoil in the last few years. Emotional eater that I am, I've gained weight.

So I've been cycling around again to working at taking better care of myself. Buying healthier food options for lunch, less and healthier snacks, weighing in, taking a multi-vitamin. I haven't had much success really as I haven't managed to fit in the exercise piece due to my new job. I used to get up at 5:30 am and exercise. Now I get up and go to work. I am a morning person and by the time I get home, it is dinner/homework/family obligations that overtake me. I'm tired in the evenings.

I don't make it to my gym. I don't like it there much anyway, so it is more of a chore. So I sat down and thought through what I like about the gym - I like blowing my mind out on the spinning classes. I can never get into the classes as they are always booked a week in advance. I also like to blow my mind out running. So yesterday, I got on the internet and bought myself a spinning bike for my house. I'm going to dig out my gym contract today and write the official quit letter needed to stop the monthly payment. I've never bought a piece of exercise equipment before & I know they are usually ignored. I am also rather frugal and can't believe I just spent what I did on a BIKE! It is going to take a LOT of spinning sessions in my basement to offset the cost of the bike. I'm going to have a sore, skinny butt. :rotfl:

DIS Journal Goals
1. Weigh in.
2. Food Journal
3. Exercise Journal
4. Life/Stress assessment

This will probably be sort of painful for me to read as this documents my attempts to take care of myself with some great success, then I totally LOST it. :surfweb:

Hi Colleen,
I am the same way, spent the money at the gym and just wanted to spin in the long run.

I thought of going back to see if I could just pay to spin.I was thinking with the economy the way it is maybe they will be happy with anything.

I always said the best facial you will ever have is spin class.

I run too and am having a hard time with the weather here.

Keep posting!

Hello!

So I did re-read my old journal. Well I tried to use exercise to offset stress related to my DH's crisis. I did finish a half marathon. I really like running as it seems to fry stress right out of my brain.I really worked to make exercise fit into my schedule. I also seemed to not let a bad food choice wreck an entire week - I'd just get right back into the healthy eating mode.

The plantar fascitis isn't 100% resolved. I walked for an hour yesterday with my dog & I had twinges in both arches. My podiatry inserts squeak in my shoes something awful - as in every step. Good thing I blast my Ipod. Anyway, I don't think spinning is going to hurt my feet any - so this will be a high energy alternative to running all the time. Anyway, I'm excited about the bike and DH seemed OK when I mentioned some 100 lb. box might be on the doorstep in the coming week or two...

Current Weight: 169.8
BMI: 29.1

Food Journal started today.

This week's goals/planning:

Gym membership - cancel
Exercise 30 minutes for 5 days this week
Food Journal (like - write in it)

Sunday: Walked for 1 hr with dog
Monday: I'm going to try a DVD tonight
Tuesday: Exercise 30 min during soccer practice
Wednesday:Do something
Thursday: Dentist/Church obligations
Friday: Do something
Saturday: Gym

Hello Linda! Thanks for the kind words!

Well I did OK yesterday. Managed six 8 oz glasses of water. Evening snack trouble, but the portion sizes were way down. ;) I also conned DS to do 30 minute power round Tae Bo. We were both sweating at the end of that DVD. But I did it.

Exercise tonight should be no issue as I've been walking/jogging around the soccer fields during DS's practice. I also signed up for 600 minutes in April. This would double my monthly exercise total if I make this goal.

Food today so far is good. Mood is good. Motivation level is good. Will power seems to be coming up. I'm going to try to continue to schedule my exercise time as if it is an appointment that can't be broken.

Hiya-

So I ran the NHLBI BMI Calculator this afternoon. I should really get down to #135 for a healthy BMI.

I did get the soccer Mom workout in while the other parents sat around & froze. Thirty minutes of jogging and walking around the fields. Nasty cold headwind whipping my hair around. I stuck my red winter hat on and plaid winter jacket when I was finished. I noticed DS do a visual sweep of the fields and figured he was looking for me. Poor kid didn't spot me on the bench watching until the end of practice! A warm up starts tomorrow, so I am going to promise that I walk the dog for a neighborhood stroll tomorrow night. Thursday will be a rest day.

Wish the spinning bike was here. I worked on my ipod tonight and started a running playlist. Started out with Kate Bush's "Running up that Hill" which is a perfect warm up song at 5 minutes!

Ate no snacks tonight. For once, dinner was enough. :goodvibes

So today was one of the days a lot of beginners would throw in the towel.

I ate well yesterday. I worked out yesterday. I didn't eat any PM snacks last night. I drank 8 glasses of water. I woke up with my insomnia and didn't snack or drink.

Today's weight: #174.0

Five pounds? Where did that come from? :scared1:

Work has been crazy busy all day. Food is fine so far.

Good news, the spinning bike freight company called. It might be delivered tomorrow!

So last night I was wore out from work. Just a crazy mental high day as I jumped from one task to another. When I got home, I was already exhausted. I ordered dinner, changed into my work out clothes, and started laundry.

Then our kitchen contractor informed me of further incompetence impacting when my kitchen can be finished. OK, I'm on week 10 now and when someone tells me that it is going to be delayed another month, I'm going to lose it. So I did. No exercise. I can't even remember what I did last night!

Drank a glass of wine and had half a shot of rum too.

Weight: #174.0 (still?)

Church obligations tonight so no exercise. So far I just can't get up at 4 or 4:30 am to exercise. Maybe the bike will come tonight and I can get it set up this weekend...:sad2:

Cheerio-

So the bike did arrive yesterday! It's in the garage at the moment. :cool1:

I didn't get home until 9 pm from church last night. Holy Thursday mass is a pretty neat ritual.

Weight: #174.0 (again!)

I'm starting to wonder what is going on. I'm debating logging my calories for a while on Sparkpeople but honestly I prefer the free form here.

Exercise goal tonight: 30 min Tae Bo

Holy dust bunnies! Man my house is an absolute wreck from the construction. Lots of dust exiting the building today though! Cleaned last night & the bout continues today. That is probably going to be my exercise for the day...

Bx: protein bar & diet coke
Lunch: protein bar & diet coke
Please note I was trying to fast a bit for Holy Friday and this is not my usual calorie restriction plan or anything...

Snack: zip, nada! :thumbsup2

Food today:

Bx: diet coke, protein bar

Good Morning:

I did manage 8 H2O yesterday.

I'm at 2 already today (it's early).
Wt: #172.2 (still)

Nagged the spinning bike carton into the basement last night. Unfortunately the price of the bike was visible on the shipping label. Assembled it almost solo too! I went spinning last night for 30 minutes! About the 6th song, I felt the endorphins sweeping the stress from my brain, ahhhh. Of course my butt hurts today.

Plan today is to walk/jog during DS's soccer practice. it is really chilly (again), so I'll need to move it to stay somewhat warm. I did write in to cancel my gym membership this morning. I think they'll only snag one more monthly fee from my checking account. My plan is to alternate spinning with jogging/walking.

Downloaded new music onto the ipod last night. Eager to get moving & lose some weight! Eager to have an indoor option now at my house for exercise out of everyone's way and not using the TV.:yay::yay:

Hello-

Got my 30 minutes in jogging and walking around the cold, windy & wet soccer fields last night. Tonight I plan to spin for 30-40 minutes. Hair cut tonight too and also have DS as DH has to work late tonight.

Wt: #174.2

Ok this is really irritating me. Yesterday I ate so little at lunch that I was still hungry when I left Applebees. I am truly cutting back and not reaping one numerical benefit.

I got 6 waters in yesterday. So far today I'm at 4.

Bx: protein bar, 2 water (very thirsty this am)
Lunch: progresso italian veggie soup can, 2 water, 1 can caf free diet coke
AM snack: 1 diet coke with caff, 1 south beach fiber fit mocha bar (120 cal)
So far today I've had 460 calories. I must be losing this battle at night.

Yesterday:

Bx:protein bar, 2 water (200)
Lunch: Applebees lunch pick 2 tom basil soup, 1 bread stick, oriental chicken salad; 2 raspberry iced tea: estimate 600 calories I'm not sure on tea.
Dinner: Cracker Barrel breakfast estimate: 640 calories
PM Snack: mini york peppermint patties (3)
Estimate 1700 calories

Hi! So we upgraded to wireless internet. Ironically I'm typin g on a laptop in front of our desktop. Ha ha! Installed a new cablet TV and DVR today too. First upgrades on the TV in 8 years. Of course in essence there is still nothing on TV so who knows what we'll record...

I'm up to 400/600 minute monthly exercise goal. This morning I got up to 40 minutes on the spin cycle. Really jammed out. No weight until next week due to hormonal imbalance that causes rages, chocolate cravings and tears for no reason...

Well finally the gods of kitchen remodeling finally caught me. Countertops delayed a month, unless I'd like to pay for a higher cost color that will add $3k to the price. Sort of felt like there was a big bait & switch going on for awhile... Near tears with disappointment yesterday. Today, would like to go postal with the 'kitchen designer' at HD. Lucky for her I've also proclaimed I'm not setting foot in the orange box anymore.

Rainy day expected tomorrow. Hopefully I'll get a nap in!

So,

I slept over 2 hours on Sunday. Can we say, 'Overtired from constant home construction & running around?' On Monday Peanut and I went on a leisurely walk for about 20 minutes. I was exhausted from work. It's cold and blustery today, so I'm going to really have to beat against the wind running around the soccer fields tonight.

Good Morning-

So my weight is still not reacting to any of this increased exercise. It has done nothing but go up since I re-started this journal.
Wt: 174.6

The good news is I'm up to 490/600 minutes for the month. I did 20 minute walk on Monday, 30 minute jog/walk on Tuesday, and yesterday evening I did a 40 minute spin session. Goal tonight is to walk/jog.

Food. I'm going to have to do a calorie count. I do not eat much at work, so my trouble is at night. I calculated a bassal metabolic rate of 1529 calories a day. To maintain my weight, I need to eat approximately 2370 calories a day. I'm going to try to stick at an 1800 calorie day and see what happens for the next 2 weeks.

Hello-

Got going with the calorie count. As I knew, my trouble starts at night.

This weekend was First Communion for DS and my parents were in town.

I did manage a 30 minute spin session on Sat.

Good Morning-

Very tired last night. Did not exercise. Went to bed early as I was craving sugar terribly.

Weight: 173.8

Skimmed through some of the pics from First Communion. I am not happy with how I look at all! Hope to print a few off for motivators...

Soccer tonight...

Hello-

Well I am loving my spinning bike. I can easily do 40 minutes now at a time. Now I'm trying to increase to ever other day.

Weight issues continue. I'm spendign most of my time tracking calories on Spark people, so I've been ignoring this free form journal. I'm clearly eating too many calories. Unfortunately I'm see sawing between good and days.

But I'm fighting the fight.

 Hi there-

So my weight maxed out at 179.2 in August. All of that healthy snacking and exercise didn't stop the weight gain. I truly find Sparkpeople too onerous for calorie counting & did not stick with it.

So I found No S diet in August. No snacks, no seconds, no sweets - except for days that start with S or special days (birthday, xmas, etc). I am doing well now though my weight hasn't really dropped fast like I'd like it to.

I'm doing a journal there.

Peace to all!

Well, I have been on No S for a while, but I miss the DIS Board.

Haven't run much since the 2007 Lewis & Clark Marathon. I'm still having problems with plantar fascitis in right foot. Even spinning seems to irritate it. I'd like to run again.

Hello!

My DH has started walking with me some nights. Our spring family schedule is crazy, but we are managing 3-4 extra walks a week. Even if we are just strolling, it is very nice to be out moving and spending time together.

Weight: #168.0 (down 12.8 pounds so far)

Last night I jogged/walked for a half hour @ soccer and then walked about a half hour with DH. Also did 7 floors of steps at work yesterday.

Tuesday plans: 7 flight of stairs @ work. Walk with DH in eve. Throw out all remaining Easter sweets. Order DS to put all of his Easter candy in one basket and I need to stay out of it.

Goal: I would like to try to lose steadily and be at #160 by June 1. I have a 3 pronged plan to try to meet this goal: 1. Increase steps/walking @ work. 2. Increase veggies & non-meat meals. 3. Increase weekend exercise.

This is doable. I need to be kind to myself & think about wanting to wear a bikini this fall for sweet 16 vacation with DH.

NHLBI Website BMI Calculator

5 ft 4 inches
Starting #180.8 = 31.0 BMI = Obese

Today 168.0 = 28.8 = Overweight

Yay! I moved categories! Although my goal weight is still almost in the overweight category for BMI (24.9), I have a long way to go & I'll be pleased to manage that and maintain.

Weighed in #166.8 for the past 3 days.

Very tired today. I looked back in my journal. I am pretty sure this was about my starting weight when I took this job back in Oct 2008. I am very thankful to be back at this point, but definitely focused on losing more weight!

Weight this am: #165.4

Clearly I am an emotional eater. I've been able to totally curb most snacking as I am focused as of late between using a appetite curbing pill several days a week and spending most evenings with DH instead of filling my loneliness with food.

Walked 50 minutes on Sunday with DH. Plan to walk tonight for at least 30 min. during soccer practice.

So far this week I walked with DH on Mon, Tues, Thur. We upped our distance on Mon/Tues. Yesterday we were both tired and we did a 1.2 mi route. On Mon I also walked at soccer with another Mom during practice for 30 min. Wednesday I had a very long walk at work due to a meeting on another campus. It was probably almost 2 miles total. Also worked some more walks into my workweek. I sit too much at work and I am trying to do at least 4 floors of steps a day too.

Weight all week solid at #165.4
BMI: 28.4

What's new? Weight is up. I am very displeased.

I've been walking more with DH & trying to eat salads at least once a day as my main meal. Clearly this isn't enough intervention or it is not filling me up as I want to eat at night again.

So this week I am going to focus on just 3 things.

I must exercise 30 min a day.
I cannot eat after 8 PM.
I cannot eat between meals.

Today - P starting
I exercised about 20 min this am.
I have exercise planned tonight too.
Breakfast (6 AM) - coffee, diet coke, 1 cup strawberries with some sugar sprinkled atop.
10 AM hungry - I had a Luna Bar.
12:30 PM: 1 banana, turkey breast, romaine salad, 1 T light dressing, 2 water, diet coke.

:headache:

About 1100 calorie day.

I was reading Shape on the train & I had a moment where the idea of eating clicked. I know how to eat to lose weight, I just need to learn to eat healthfully as a lifestyle.

Here's what I read:

Multiply your weight GOAL by 10 = minimum calories for the day
If you are active you can add another 3 caloreis per pound.
On exerise days, add half the calories you burn to alotted calorie intake to keep energy level up.

SO if I want to weight 130, I should stick to 1300 calories. I am only exercising moderately, so I don't think I need to add those back in right now.

Weigt today: #177.4

Bx: 8 oz diet cola (caff free), 1 luna protein bar (180 cal/ 12g protein)

Had a big meal out while catching up with a friend.
Shared a bottle of pinot, had an omelet. Just found out the calories in it were 751! Slice of bread - 151 each. I think I ate 3. Definitely overate!!

Well I figured as much so I did manage to not have an evening snacks when I got home. Also very tired and did not exercise.

Drank at least another 20 oz of water in PM.

Definitely not the best dinner, but rushing home from grocery store and back out for haircut. Did manage 1+ mile dog walk and a decent pace. Since it was dark, I kept working out my arms too!

Good news: NO EVENING SNACKS! Even ran to Walgreen's and managed to stay out of the candy. Trying to look at it as empty calories.

7/30 Wt: 176.2 :) I'll take it.

Ran my BMR to update myself. It is 1539. I need to undercut this to lose weight by eating more healthfully and exercising.

It takes 3,500 calories to equal one pound of body weight. Generally, dieters dump an average of 1,000 calories per day in an effort to lose 2 pounds of body fat per week.

So if I'm trying to eat around 1300 cal a day, I need to work off 5,300 calories in exercise! SO, walking the dogs isn't enough. I need more intensity. Also, as I lose weight, I think my BMR might go down as well bc my base weight will be lower. In a way this is depressing, but I'm going to slog on here. It is a LIFESTYLE change.

Friday: start laundry, walk dogs, spin 30 min
Sat: walk/jog 2 mi - do some yoga/pilates
Sun: walk dogs 2 mi/ spin 30 min

Continue no eating after 8:30 PM.

Hi,

I am really proud of myself this weekend. Very few snacks between meals. Worked hard to make good choices. I tried to eat one plate and then be done. Not eating after dinner is getting easier. I think on Friday night I had a fruit popsicle before 8:30.

Sat: Spinning bike resistance gear frozen in easy mode. I did that for about 12 minutes then did LS for 20 min. Also walked dogs 1.2 mi. Did squats during laundry.

Sun: DH fixed spinning bike. Spun about 20 minutes, walked dogs about a mile. Also played ball in the pool so I didn't just laze around.

Wt this am: #176.4

Bx: Coffee (30 cal), 20 oz water, (180 cal) Luna protein bar.
Work: 20 oz water so far
Exercise: 8 extra flights of stairs so far today. Going for 8 each day this week.

I need to be patient that this weight isn't going to 'melt off'. To lose weight, I need to undercut 1500 calories a day and exercise. A lot of the changes I am making will just make me maintain.

Goals this week:

1. Walk up 4 flights to my office each day this week (doubling effort)
2. Spin 30 min T/R/Sat + walk dogs
3. Mon & Wed - walk 2 miles.
4. Sun - start C25K.

It is going to be hot this week.

Not feeling particularly great last night. DS ate pistachios in front of me for about 20 min before I finally gave in. Ate some pistachios about 9:30 PM. Dug out a lot of empty shells and also shelled for the dogs, so I estimate I ate about 30 kernels (120 cal).

Total = 555 = 1347 total for day. Not too bad.

Mon restart C25K

I need to look at C25K and decide what week I am going to start on. It is going to be humid next week & I'm a little worried about my foot, so nothing miraculous.

Weight on Sunday: #179.4

Man oh man do I keep stopping at that weight or what?

Here's my plan:

1. Drink water. This is an established habit already and not a problem.
2. Stop eating after 8 PM. (This is goal #1)
3. Exercise 30 min each day (I've had some real success here lately but I need to make it a habit).
4. Keep a food journal.

So I'm working on 2 & 3.
I do keep food journals a lot. This has discouraged me in the past as my calories are in the range where I should lose weight, but it doesn't happen fast enough or it doesn't happen. Then I give up. I'm still concerned that hormones or some ongoing yeast infection is wreaking havoc with my system.

I will keep a food journal for a month and just see what happens.

Hello, I've been here numerous times. Each time I just keep gaining weight back. It is pretty evident that I can't eat and cheat when I was younger.

So I picked something tough to draw a line in the sand. Something I thought would be simple to follow and would cut out my cravings. When this first 43 days are over, I will continue to eat 'clean'. I will now weigh myself every day. If I want to be a slim person, I cannot eat like I did before. If I don't believe my own body, I only have to look at the women in my family to see further evidence. Also, I eat emotionally. I feel like a lot of this weight is 'left over' from a crisis that happened in fall 2007 and I've been struggling ever since with my weight even though emotionally I am in a good place emotionally.

So today is VLCD Day 1. It is 9:30 am. I finished loading last night. I was very lucky to start loading in New Orleans. I had a lot of fun with my DH for a long weekend. I also exercised 30 minutes each day in the gym in addition to the tons of walking we did.

Goal #1 Follow the Diet
Goal #2 Exercise 30 minutes each day

Since I'm not eating too much, I can't exercise too heavily. My exercise plan is to walk at work this week for 15 minutes qd, then walk the dogs about 20 minutes in the evening or do some Leslie Sansone with 2 lb handweights. Sat and Sun I hope to walk further with the dogs, but the weather has been icy. If I can't walk outside on the weekends, I'll do a 30 minute spinning session.

Starting Weight: terrifying # 185.8

Food Diary for 1/19

1 large apple - 116 c
cottage cheese with 2 cups lettuce - 95 c
lean ground beef (185c), 2 c salad, celery(1 calorie each)= 210
2 grissini bread sticks (25 c each) = 50
1 orange - 62
Total calories: 533

Water/tea: 90 oz.

Exercise: Walked with a friend for an hour @ work! :woohoo:

Attitude: Still amazed that I am not particularly hungry. I'm a little worried about eating out as DH loves to eat out. Well just as I thought, DH would be my undoing. Took me to an Italian restaurant for a nice meal out without DS last night. I faltered a little.

1/20 Food Diary
1 coffee with stevia
1 large orange - 86 c
cottage cheese with 2 cups lettuce - 95 c
3 small shrimp - estimate 112 c
1/2 stewed tom - est 14 c
2 spears asparagus - est 10
4 0z orange roughy - est 120
Italian bread, 2 small pieces dipped in olive oil! 260 c est
1 piece of gum at work due to stress!
84 oz water
Total cal 697!

Walked 30 min @ work yesterday!

Weight this am: #180.8 (sigh)

I do have some notes for myself. One, my TOM is starting. Two, even though I wanted chocolate at work due to stress, I settled on a piece of gum and was actually pretty satisified with that. I did make it through a nice meal without a glass of wine. DH adorable in splitting an entree with me. I could not resist the bread when they put out the olive oil. I did savor the pieces and not suck them down like before. Also, I resolved to not have my second fruit to offset last night. I marched upstairs and brushed my teeth and it wasn't awful not eating.

That is another thing I realized this am. The No S diet helped me stop eating between meals and only night snacking was my downfall. This diet has me learning to be satisfied with a piece of fruit - or nothing at all. :teacher:

Peace to me. Marching forward! All my food is set up for work and dinner is set at home.

Friday Food report:
EXCELLENT!
Only cheat spot was I totally got flushed and worked up at work late in the afternoon, so I did allow myself one piece of sugar free gum. I have always chewed sugar free gum - probably 10-20 pieces a day! So if I am down to 1 piece on stressful days only, I'll take this monumental change in my behavior!

I am surprised how little I have missed my Diet Coke too. Every time I want to cheat, I envision the scale and the impact of the cheat. I am not hungry with the HCG.

Exercise: walked 30 min @ work - decent pace.
TOM
Weight this AM: #179.4 - Down 6.4 total

Sat plan:
have a grapefruit on the counter.
Plan to walk the mall while DS is at a bday party.
Also plan to finish a grocery list as Sunday I plan to cook a few meals out of HCG Cookbook ahead.

Notes: Eat off a luncheon plate if I am not eating salad. I was dismayed to see how small my pre-weighed chicken was once it cooked... But then I had to laugh thinking how seriously I have overeaten my protein in the past...

I'm trying to think of this as a spiritual journey too. I am ridding myself of emotional eating baggage. I keep visualizing myself in a certain pair of jean capris as my first goal weight. Well I am off to work in my office for an hour. I'm trying to declutter too!:rolleyes1

Hello-

Hanging tough.

I did walk the mall yesterday for 45 min. TOM.

Did fine until dinner. Ate out with DH again. Found a good restaurant that I can probably eat at a lot - lamb, chicken, fish options! This time I stayed out of the bread basket. I did overeat on my lamb. I had 4 bites of saganaki. Seriously missed my wine.

Weight today - #177.0! Down 2.4!

Extremely pleased as with TOM especially bad today I was not expecting such a drop.

Hi-

TOM has been tough on not cheating. On Sunday I ate a brownie. I also ate 60 calories of those valentine hearts.

No weight loss on 1/24. Terrible day at work. I chewed 1 piece of dubble bubble and 1 piece of sugar free gum. I missed a fruit. I was unable to walk and also unable to get in all of my water. By the time I got home from work, I was absolutely exhausted. I ate several servings of those valentine hearts. I finally got wise and just put myself to bed at 8:30 PM.

Today marks my one week on hHCG. Weight: #175.8

Yes I lost another 1.2 lbs. I am amazed and all the more resolved to stick to this diet as it works.

Doing great at work. Really sucking down water and tea steadily. The sugary bubble gum is almost gone as I put it in the group candy dish. I also have away a package of my sugar free gum to try to really keep out of gum altogether.

As usual, my trouble is at night. It starts at dinner. I actually like the broth-like beef stew I made with celery. It is a nice wintery meal and it has a decent flavor. But as I wind up with that, my mind is already thinking about something sweet. And it is not thinking fruit! Last night I took DS to Oberweiss. Now I was good in not ordering anything for myself, but I had about 10 spoonfuls of his sundae. Umm. I'm not supposed to be eating sugar!! So the struggle is on to keep out of DS's sweets.

I did get 30 min walk in at work yesterday. TOM was very bad last night.

Weight today: #177.0

Well, that is in the wrong direction. It happens....when you CHEAT!

As in emotional overeating spree through the kitchen last night. My poor DH watched me as we chatted systematically going thru the cupboards for something sweet. Sigh.

Back at it today though!!

Hi!

Wt this am is still #176.8
I did walk 30 min at work yesterday.
Sat - Goal is to do some pilates at home.
Sun- Walk the mall one hour while DS @ a b-day party.

Diet: Water intake excellent. Attitude is definitely better. I have to wonder how much TOM plays into my cheating this week?? I skipped my fruit last night and had a cup of hot chocolate made with low fat milk instead. I suppose this would be a cheat, but calorie-wise it hit me up with calcium and some additional protein & it took a while to ingest so I was content.

Having terrible dry skin. Gave up and have slathered 2 times with regular lotion. Baby oil doesn't seem to be keeping my skin hydrated. I cut back on my facial moisturizer too but didn't give it up entirely. Now I put some on in the am on workdays, and on weekends I put a bit just on my dry area of my face. My skin is looking quite clear! I've got to wonder if I have some gluten issues? Giving up carbs sort of eliminates most gluten I guess?

To stay motivated, I did measure myself last night. It appears I have lost an inch here and there. :)

Welllll, Did awesome food-wise yesterday!!

Weight today: #178.0

Exercise - 0. But I did manage a hair cut and dinner at home last night.

Here's my plan for today:
Walk at work 30 min.
Stay on VLCD.

Sat - exercise in front of TV
Sun- ditto

Next weekend DH is taking me away for the weekend. I have decided I am going to keep hitting it hard on the VLCD, but allow wine during this adult weekend.

I am really proud of myself. I got in the 30 min walk at work yesterday.

My crock pot experiment failed, so we ate out last night. DH kindly took me back to the Greek restaurant that has a lot of HCG options. I literally clenched my hands to avoid the warm white useless bread. I had 1/4 saganaki (which is a cheat), but no wine! I had Dolmades. I ate one and a half and most of the veggies on my plate. When I am eating out, I don't get too worked up about mixing veggies. I also ate a salad with their house vinaigrette. Since I am eating salad totally plain at work, I savored it!

Anyway - weight this am: #175.4 Back on track.

Focused to Go LOWER! I'm a little concerned about Super Bowl. I need to think it through.

Hi,

Did fine Sat until dinner. Managed 40 min leslie sansone type work out while watching Oprah.

Trouble with dinner was a pizza joint with another family. There was nothing on the menu I could really have. Drank water very well. Savored one glass chianti. Tried to fill up with 2 helpings of house salad. It was a bit loaded with dressing. Ate some thin crust pizza. Maybe I ate a total of one pizza slice. Hard to tell as it was cut in little triangles and rectangles. It tasted very yummy.

Sunday weight. OK held the same.

Sunday - did very well until Superbowl. I exercised by cleaning ALL morning. Hands and knees scrubbing floors in 5 rooms.

Then superbowl. I ate less than I once would have. For example, between 4:00 - 9 PM I had 2 alcoholic drinks where before I may easily have had twice that. I felt much more conscious of eating veggies. But I guess I still was off as today my weight was #178.6. Sigh.

But it is Monday. I'm back on track. Goal is to stay on track until weekend. DH taking me away for weekend. I guess I'm just going to have to hang as tough as possible.

Did fine last night except no exercise. I was exhausted all day. When I got home, I ate some sweets. Sigh. I ate 2 cookies and 2 mini snickers. I realized I was just eating to eat, so I put myself to bed. DS started karate last night, so I did not even get home until after 7 PM.

Today's weight: #177.0 Better.

Today has been fine so far. I have book club tonight.

Who would have thought pizza would be a problem?

I went to book club last night armed with a salad and hb eggs to override the pizza. Then someone ordered ham/pineapple. It smelled divine. I ate 2 pieces. Then when I got home, I ate some candy! Shame on me! As usual evenings are a total mess!

Anyway- working hard at it today. Apple around 11 am. Salad with shrimp at 1 pm. Doing well with water.

Wt. today - #176.0

I have hardly exercised this week!

Hiya-

Well I have struggled with hHCG, but I am really trying to adapt to a new eating lifestyle permanently. In many ways I am having a lot of success.

I haven't had a Diet Coke or soda in 24 days. I have cut my gum habit down from several packs of Extra a day to one piece of sugar free gum after lunch most days... I've also cut WAAAAY back on caffeine as I am not much of a coffee drinker. These are all awesome changes I am hoping to keep long term.

Weight today: #173.0.

Thus far I have lost 12.8 pounds.

I did manage a 30 minute walk at work yesterday.

Evenings are still difficult as sweets abound in the house. Last night I ate one piece of laffy taffy & one tootsie pop. After dinner, I just WANT sweets. It is awful.

Well, I have a long way to go to my first goal weight of #145, but I am really trying! Motivation is so key.

:thumbsup2

This weekend was really extraordinary. First of all, I tried to be aware of what I was eating. I kept taking the hHCG but I knew that I would be drinking and probably eating richer than normal.

Friday I was fine at work. I discovered we were going to Pere Marquette Lodge that afternoon. On our way, I did drink a small McDonald's hot chocolate without whip cream. It was almost too sweet. When we checked in at the lodge, there were candles, rose petals strewn about, chocolate covered strawberries, & champagne. A sweetheart package! That included dinner in the lodge!! I ate 2 of the strawberries and over the course of the evening enjoyed the champagne. No exercise that day... Dinner was a salad, 1 ate one dinner roll with butter, broccoli, and an awesome steak wrapped in bacon and gouda cheese with shrimp & crab. BC of the holiday, we got a free lava cake. It was excellent, but I ate half of it only.

On Saturday, I managed to just eat my fruit for breakfast like normal. I did 30 minutes of pool exercise in the afternoon. DH surprised me with a 90 min massage! It was awesome! How could I say the diet doesn't allow such!? Afterwards we went to a popular bar. I drank 2 bud light limes, 12 peel/eat shrimp, 1 svg bar popcorn, and 1/2 of a burger. Not great. For dinner we agreed to try a fish place. Almost everything was unhealthy. I had broiled tilapia and managed not to eat it all so I had to be close to 5-6 oz instead of the 8oz advertised. Instead of salad I had candied yams and green beans. There were no 'healthy' sides. I ate 2 hush puppies too. Drank ice tea. That night I drank several glasses of shiraz.

Sunday, chopped ice in the afternoon for at least a half hour + when I got home. I over ate at breakfast but focused on fruit and eggs. Lunch I think I skipped. Dinner, shared a dinner salad with DH and a serving of mostaccioli. Ate one slice of pizza thin crust.

Today is back on track day. Weight: #171.6 :flower3:

I checked my BMI & I have moved from obese into overweight category.

I am dressed to exercise later today. I had coffee and an orange for breakfast.

Hopefully now I can really kick through the rest of this VLCD phase as I hope all of my party days are over!

Well, I know I can't expect to lose weight if I eat poorly and don't exercise. Of course my snotty sugar craving self doesn't want to accept that statement. I got sick and went off the diet for sometime.

Today I am feeling better and I am going to finish this thing up. I am going to go until my drops are gone. I really need to focus on wanting to lose some pounds so I can restart a running plan and feel confident on the beach this summer!

Wt: #176.6

Breakfast- 1 med apple (95), 34 oz water, 24 oz herbal tea
Lunch- 12 oz diet coke, broccoli slaw (35), cottage cheese (90), salsa (20), grissinis (72).

I felt achy all weekend and did not do any physical work outs. Flu shot connection???

Tried to eat within reason from Fri PM through Sunday. Weight on Monday and Tuesday was #178.2. Today #175.2.

I have switched to some almond milk shakes for breakfast. Not too bad so far.

Today: almond shake with 3/4 banana & ice (132 c)
Lunch: 1 med apple (90c), organic black bean soup (300c as I ate nearly the whole box), 100c of whole grain melba toast.

Attitude is sort of cautious. I know how to eat healthy and I really do quite well until two trouble points: eating out for dinner and snacks at night. So I need to be extra cautious during these times and just keep my butt moving.

Peace :cool2:

My hands are aching from all of the painting I did this weekend. Keeping busy kept my weekend snack fest down though! Our bedroom has been white for 14 years, but now it is a lovely blue green.

When I ate out this weekend I made some very good decisions. On Saturday night, I had tilapia. I did not drink alcohol either though I did drink a boatload of my new favorite sweet drink - horchata. BUT bc I was so full and that drink was sweet, I did not have any dessert that night! On Sunday I split a meal with my DH so my protein amount was spot on. Did eat some of DS's dessert & it was nice to share.

Today's weight: #173.0
My goal is a facial at #170, so I might start looking at Groupons to get that one in.

My next self gift will be at #165. I am starting to think about what it might be and I think just thinking about taking care of myself is a bit of a motivator.

I bought some food for work today and kept out of the diet coke too!

;)

Well I think I am over the Halloween candy.

Weight today: 173.0

This is OK as no gain & I allowed a week of Halloween candy access.

Focusing in to increase exercise this week. I have been drinking shakes in the am made with varying kinds of milk, fruit and ice. Moving into fall with soups for lunch.

Well my weight starting off is not much different than where it has been over the past 3 years. I have really struggled when I look back over these posts. I feel different this time around. Mainly bc I know this is a lifetime battle for me. I can't be on some diet for a few weeks or months and not expect the weight to return ( & then some). My family has obesity in its women, so I know that not exercising and eating like a midwestern girl really isn't working for my family or me. Time to go my own way as I don't like looking like a frump!

I am really blessed that I got an adult toy to throw at this problem to make it MUCH easier. I got an iPad for Xmas. Luckily for this journal, I can now track my calories, my weight and my exercise online with that. I also downloaded a crap load of exercises. I also am trying to start running again, though in January that might be a little iffy. So now I can juse use this for my musings.

So just for the record, I started back on 1/3 at 178. Today's weight, about 2 weeks in is 174.4.

During the day at work I try to keep a log of what I am eating/doing so when I get home I input my calories and exercise before I eat dinner so I know where I am at. My resolve about my night eating is really holding firm! I am really proud of myself. Last night was a splurge night. I allowed myself a small fry at McDonalds. They were hot and wonderful. I ate a Southwest Salad too with very little lf dsg. When I got home from running all around all night, I really wanted a little something. I actually measured out the serving size of some trail mix. And that little 3T was enough. With a large glass of ice water. Unbelievable!

So here are my interventions:
1. My Fitness Pal
2. Trying to work out or walk at least 30 min qd
3. Wearing a pedometer for work trying to hit 10,000 steps qd
4. I bought a vitamix and have been doing fruit smoothies for breakfast
5. I am increasing my use of stairs at work for steps and endurance
6. Firm calorie counting is helping me focus on my trouble time - NIGHT SNACKING!

My first goal is to continue these efforts. My second goal is to lose 17 Pounds. Although I am still overweight at #161, it is just a great start and a good place to reassess how things are working for me. Because this is my life, not a diet.

Peace to me. 'Leen

Making change is hard to set new habits. I did enjoy my birthday and had too many calories for 2 days, but seeing that helped me rein in a little in subsequent days too. Weight remains at #174.4

1. My Fitness Pal - tracking along well. I think it says I have gone 15 days straight now!
2. Not quite at the 30 min qd yet, but doing pretty well!
3. Averaged 3.01 miles qd last week. I really bombed on my bday and Sat.
4. Fruit smoothies have commenced.
5. Stairs doing pretty good. I've added about an extra 14 floors of stairs qd.
6. Night snacking is pretty under control thanks to My Fitness Pal.

Happy Birthday :cheer2: How do you like your VitaMix? I ordered one from QVC this week - can't wait to get it. I've been wanting one for a long time. Is it easy to work with?
