From USA Today:

'Snow White' gets high-definition treatment
By Thomas K. Arnold, Special for USA TODAY

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, the first Walt Disney animated classic and the first DVD to sell 1 million copies in a single day, will make its Blu-ray Disc debut on Oct. 6, in a combo pack ($40) that includes a DVD. A two-disc standard DVD ($30) will arrive Nov. 24.

The 1937 classic retelling of the Grimm Brothers' fairy tale has never been seen in high definition, and Bob Chapek, president of Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment, says he hopes it "will easily become the reference point for high-definition home entertainment libraries and family collections." The Blu-ray also will include several bonuses not included on the original DVD released in 2001.

What makes this different from any previous Disney Blu-ray/DVD releases is that the Blu-ray package will be in retail stores 7 weeks before the DVD-only package is released.

IMO, Disney is really embracing Blu-ray as the video format of choice...
